The experience with Gilkey from the initial contact with their salesman, Scot, to the final installation by their team, deserves a five-star rating. I reached out to Scot after an excellent recommendation from a good friend who had recently had new Gilkey windows installed. He came to my home, reviewed my current windows and patio door and provided various options that would help increase the energy efficiency in my home. I had already received proposals from two other window companies before this meeting. My final decision was based on the fact that Gilkey is a local company and they have a great warranty which proves they believe in their products. The windows and door were installed this last week and the entire process was amazingly smooth. The installers were experienced, professional and meticulous. The three that showed up (Charlie, Brent, and Mike Jr.) all worked together in perfect harmony. Out of all the windows we replaced, I just knew that getting those old metal windows out from the garage (house built in 1950) would be a big challenge and would likely take all day. Not this crew! They arrived as they said between 8:30 and 9:00 and were done by 2 PM--all new windows on the front of the house replaced, plus one on the back. My only regrets are: 1. I should have tipped them. After all, they did a GREAT job! 2. I wish i could have replaced ALL the windows, but...that's where we have to wait until another time. The windows not only look great but seem to keep out noise. Given our experience with the professional crew, I would HIGHLY recommend Gilkey. P.S. They even helped me put the blinds back up, which was SO appreciated, given that I'm not much of a handy man.

Compared to my first install experience, which was disasterous to say the least, Richard and Bryan did an outstanding job! They were very careful of maneuvering the large picture windows in place leaving minimal damage. The financing department was very flexible with me getting payment to them which was very appreciated. Really gave that small town feeling of trust and understanding. The only nit pick I have is that the screens are different from the other windows and the 2 light sliders appear to have changed style since the first batch of installs a few years ago, which is a bit distracting.

From the moment the sales guy showed up, to the installer coming back to pickup the remaining debris this company has great people. They provided a no hassle sales pitch (Brian), a top quality product at a reasonable price. Due to the pandemic the install was delayed, but it was communicated before I purchased the windows / rear doors. I also negotiated the price before purchasing, which I really don't like to do, but it was a decent amount of money to spend on 21 windows and 2 doors. The installers (Jeff, Jason, and Jason) were extremely nice, professional, helpful, and good at their job! They didn't cut any corners or make an excuses, they did a fabulous & quick job. After the install, they showed me how to clean, open, and lock the windows. They accepted two different forms of payment without any questions. Overall, I would highly recommend this company and their product to others who are looking to replace their windows or doors.

Gilkey was excellent from the first call to the final clean up. Quote was very fair compared to other quotes we received. We were given a timeframe for installation after purchase and it was met. The product installed changed our family room. Installation was a little longer than quoted but installers had to deal with very old big windows. Clean up was good, found 3 tiny pieces of glass. I have always heard Gilley window commercials on the radio and know I can say I highly recommend them.

Gilkey replaced all nine windows in our house and the results have been dramatic. While the original windows were single-pane aluminum awning units and anything would have been an improvement, the new windows are beautiful, well installed, and have already made a dent in our energy bills. The prices were great and the turnaround time from measurement to delivery was quite a bit quicker than promised. Highly recommended!

We have a 1930s home and were looking to replace our original windows. A friend worked with Gilkey for windows in their late 1800s home had a wonderful experience, which is why we went with them. Our priorities were maintaining the historical look of the home, increasing energy efficiency, and sustainability (life-time product). Scot Johnson was our sales rep and walked us through the options, process, and pricing. A few weeks later, a measuring team came out to ensure that the custom windows were made to fit and that we were on the same page regarding case size. At this point, an adjustment to the order was needed to accommodate the historical look of the home, and their team could not have been more responsive. In line with the quoted schedule, the installation team arrived about 6 weeks later and was professional and timely. They protected the interior spaces and left the site as found. They were thoughtful in their approach to the details. We are thrilled with our new windows! Originally, we were very concerned that the house would lose some of its historic charm, but through this process, and largely due to the quality of the windows and installation, we feel like it has been enhanced. And added bonus, we already notice a difference in the noise level.

It slides so effortlessly and the energy efficient glass along with the blinds do a great job blocking out the sun. We bought windows for our whole house a few years ago and we're happy with our salesperson, the installation crew and the office staff. At the time we could not afford another patio door and later regretted not paying. Gilley quoted us slightly more a few yrs later but not as much as I thought but remembered they had done our whole house. We had to wait fir our door which we knew because of supply chain but were called within 48 hrs and set up for next day when it came in. Looks beautiful and workmanship was top notch. Would highly recommend.

We had all (11) new windows custom replaced in our sunroom. We had 30+ year old wood casements, now have new casements laminated on both sides to match both inside & outside decor. Ordered and had 2 windows and 2 exterior doors installed. The actual products, the product quality, is top-notch. Also the installers, especially the older ones, were very skilled. Re: installation, my only beefs were stinginess with the foam expanding insulation, and the "nails" they used to reattach my trim - looked like just heavy wire, not real finishing nails. But my main issue was with one of the two windows. We were making these changes in part to increase light entry into a dark room. But the window was smaller than the hole by at least 1 and half inches. Granted, the older trim covered up some of this mismatch. But once you commit, and they come for final measurement, they should even remove trim if necessary in order to get accurate numbers (otherwise they are just replicating the same mistake from 50 years ago, passing it on for another 50!) The photo shows the gap between top of new window during installation, and the framing. When i pointed the mismatch out to the installer, he said they need some gap to ensure accommodation of the arriving product, plus a little for insulation. But I don't at all think they need 1.5 inches. Maybe half an inch. So that means it could have been an inch taller. If the window is 48 inches across, that's 48 square inches of light I'm missing out on, every day for years to come. When I contacted the company, they said they could come look at it, and that Gilkey wants "every job done right, and it ain't finished till it is". But when folks have embarked on remodeling and are trying to wrap things up and decorate and get settled again, they last thing they want is to reorder, wait another 8 weeks, and have another tear-out and mess again. So I said I can live with this window, but would like some compensation for a good but far-from-perfect job (and loss of said light henceforth). My idea was for the company to "just break even" on this one window - to make a profit on the other 3 installations, but just break even on this one window, IOW, refund me the profit, me even trusting them to do their own figures. But Kevin the sales manager objected, saying "you've got a functioning window". That answer, IMO, is something you would say to someone wanting an entire refund for the whole window, not just the profit. I was trying to have a win-win for me and them - after all, what would a complete redo of the window, with manufacturing cost and the returning labor, have cost them? A bundle, I'm sure. So giving up just the profit to me seemed quite reasonable. But not to Kevin - he said in such situations they would typically give a gift card, "to Krogers or somewhere", "I could do 50 or 100 dollars". I didn't like that, but thought it better than nothing. So eventually such a card arrived, and, you guessed it, it was the lower of the two figures. I should have sent it back. $50 for the loss of 48 square inches of outdoor light every minute of every day for years to come. You can make your own decision, but here is my grading: Gilkey product manufacturers: A+ , installers: A , preliminary measurers: C , office customer service: D- . Overall therefore, B .

I am very pleased to provide an outstanding review about my Gilkey window and door experience. I had a custom patio door with a transom window installed. My experience was positive from the scheduling of my sales appointment to meeting with Jason, the sales professional. He was professional, knowledgable, focused on a quality solution and offered a competitive price. After our appointment, he responded to my questions in a timely manner. Prior to installation, I was called to schedule my installation, and a reminder call was made prior to the installation date. I cannot write enough praise for my installation crew. Mike and Hoff were timely, neat and professional. They encountered a problem with the existing door frame being bowed when the removed the old door. It required a lot of time and creative problem solving to make sure the new door would fit. They built a new wood frame and encased it with a covering product - all done out of the back of their truck! It required an extra day of work and I was not asked to pay more. Fabulous finished product! The appearance and functionality absolutely added more to the value of my home than the cost. I highly recommend Gilkey!

When we ordered the windows, we asked the sales rep about an entry door. He said Gilkey didn't sell or install them. I bought a house 3 years ago that already had Gilkey Replacement Windows. Come to find out, they were installed in 1997. Well long story short, I have 3 windows that the tilting mechanism (Clips that lock the window in place) have broken off on one side. No problem for The Gilkey Window Company. We picked gilkey after getting estimates from other window companies because we thought they were the best windows for us. I have no complaints about the windows themselves, they seem to be made well and the price was comparable to the others. My problem is when they were installed there were a few things that we found not right. I called them to ask about someone coming out to fix the problems. I was told I would have to wait 30 days before anyone can come out to take a look. It wasn't an emergency, so I was willing to wait. During the 30 days we had some nice weather, so we opened the windows to let some fresh air in. What we got was a house full of flies. The screens were not put in correctly and the flies found that an invitation to come in. I killed flies for days, , there were flies everywhere. When I found out where they were coming in the screens, I tried to fix the screens myself and they just fell out so I immediately closed the windows and called gilkey . I was told once again that no one could come out to fix the problem and I still had my original appointment scheduled had had to wait 2 weeks. I got a phone call the morning of my scheduled appointment and was told no one was able to come out and someone would call me Monday to reschedule. The windows are great, but the customer service sucks. Wish I went with someone else for my window replacement.

We purchased our condo approximately 2 years ago and have done several renovations but at the time left the windows off the list to save some cost. At the time Gilkey was not on the list of our Association approved windows. The condo still had the original aluminum frame single hung windows and 4-5 windows had the seals broken (foggy). During cold weather they would ice up and we could feel airflow from around the blinds. Once looking to finally upgrade the windows, Gilkey had been added as an option. We researched them online as well as visited their showroom. Our salesman was very knowledgable and professional in all our discussions. We were impressed to see a local company put out such a quality product. It was also nice to know that if we ever have an issue they are just down the road. After talking with and getting quotes from 3 window companies we are very pleased to have chosen Gilkey Window Company. They were installed in early January; probably not the best idea; but the installation guys were great. They done an incredible job on all the little details. They were also more than willing to discuss any concerns I had during the installation. They addressed any and all items I mentioned. Of course right after the installation the weather warmed up to and I was a little bummed to not get to fully test out the cold weather performance. If you're from the Midwest you know weather can change quickly and once again the cold weather hit. The windows performed just as I had hoped. No icing, air leaks, or even moisture on the inside. An unexpected performance aspect of these windows was reduction in sound level inside. We can typically always here some traffic from a highway not too far away. After the window installation my wife called me into one of the back rooms and said "just listen". Was incredible how quiet it was after the window replacement. Really happy we chose Gilkey for the job. Like any good review nothing is perfect and so it should be mentioned. Neither of these are necessarily pings against Gilkey. Remember that any high efficiency window replacement will likely take up more depth. Our windows were drywall finished into the aluminum frame and thus our custom blinds fit nicely inside the window casing. After the replacement there was only a little more than on inch of space left. Luckily this was enough to use our same blinds. The other issue is kind of in regards to the same thing as far as the drywall finishing around and into the windows. We have always had some drywall cracking even with the old windows as things shift between temperature seasons. So obviously be prepared to do a little drywall/paint touchup if you have a similar window setup to what we had. Window replacement is difficult and I thought the Gilkey crew did a great job in minimizing any touch up work. Thanks again for a great job and great product.

I had a great experience with Gilkey. I compared 2 companies. My house has 31 windows; some semicircular, some casement, several picture windows and the rest double-hung so this was (I was told) a bigger window replacement job than average. It came to just under $24,000. The other company's bid was about $22,000 but the detailed specs on the top of the line Gilkey windows (triple pane, low-E, argon gas, etc., etc.) was better in all categories. Also, the sales rep for Gilkey did not try to give me a hard-sell (unlike the other company) but instead focused on the details of how the windows are constructed; he even demonstrated the thermal quality with a heat lamp. The installation process was great. They brought 3 crews and did the whole job in 6-7 hours. There was no mess inside or outside the house, they cleaned up everything. If you didn't know, you would never have known anyone had even been in the house. They were polite and professional in every respect. I've had the windows for 3 months so I can't just how they will perform in the coldest or hottest months because I bought them in the fall, but my energy bill has dropped compared to what it had been. The windows work well thermally and they also reduce noise from outside noticeably. I highly recommend Gilkey.

We had a bay window installed. Delivery and installation were on time and the installers were also on time on the appointed day and time. The installation was very professionally accomplished by Charlie and Brent. There was a hole in one of the screens so it will be repaired and returned. The metal in between the glass was some what distorted and that will be replaced. This just a minor aesthetic rather than a functional matter. All in all, we have a beautiful new bay window.

Sales rep Scot Johnson was great. We spent 10 minutes talking about windows and an hour about other stuff. We shopped a half dozen window companies and found Gilkey to be the best mix of quality and price. The installers were also terrific and did a beautiful job. When I discovered a couple of issues later they came right out and got things taken care of. The only thing that kept this from being a 5 star rating is that one of the windows was ordered backwards (could have been my fault), and then the replacement also came backwards. Eventually it got taken care of but took quite some time. In any case, I'd use Gilkey again and recommend them to a friend (and I have).

We had new windows installed late November 2020. Immediately after, a persistent dripping noise occurs at our bedroom window any time it rains. Never ever hearing this noise before, we are highly suspect it's the new window, something's not right. Anytime we've called Gilkey to service this issue, nobody is available, they won't come unless it's actively raining/ making the noise, or we don't even get a call back. It often happens at night, on weekends, holidays, and we cannot predict the weather on a day that is convenient for Gilkey to be available. We cannot sleep in our room, the noise is so loud and disturbing. Now that it's making the noise during a business day, nobody is available yet again, and we're told it'll be a whole week before someone will come to look at it, rain or shine, and maybe they can get a technician to come along. We've been dealing with this for over 3 months, calling and waiting for someone to be available, for the weather to be just right... I'm tired of waiting. Maybe this review will motivate action in a more timely manner. There has to be a better solution than waiting for rain at a time that is convenient for Gilkey. We like the windows, we just can't get a timely response after the fact when there's a problem.

Their windows seem to be well made and highly rated. They were decently priced for the quality. And their salesperson was not a hard-sell person, which I appreciated. All of that is why I chose them. But two or more of their people screwed up our order. I had specifically asked them to make a window that would fit the window a/c unit that I already had. It was clearly specified on the order ! Yet on installation day, they showed up with a window that didn't match the specs ! They had to put in a new order to remake it. They came back over a month later to reinstall it. In the meantime, I had to buy an additional inefficient portable a/c unit that I didn't want, so that mom could have a/c. ... The following are updated comments to my original review. At first they didn't seem to care that this inconvenience was an issue when I called them about it. But after I called them out in this review, they did reimburse the cost of the additional portable a/c unit I had to buy. I gave them an additional star in my rating, now. But there is now an issue with one of the windows not sealing out the cold air which I need to address with them. Hence not a full 5 stars .

We have an add on to our house that settled quite a bit making the entire wall out of square but they managed to make the window square while also making the crooked wall very hard to notice. On June 24th 2015 we had all the windows replaced (22), and the rear door. The installation crew was prompt, respectful of our home, and patient with any questions. There was no painting necessary after the installation. The windows look great inside and out, and have cut the outside noise in the house. We had four companies do in house presentations and quotes. We decided on Gilkey, because they are driven to do it right in their backyard,Cincinnati, unlike other companies that call multiple cities home. The production plant is here, and any repair parts are a small drive away. The warranty is superior if anything happens, and no trip charges for 5 years. Just a tip, the guys are stuck at your house for the day. Buy them some lunch so they can recharge their batteries, and make the day pleasant for you and them.

We replaced our entire house with Gilkey Windows several years ago (it was about 18 windows including the large palladium windows above our front door). This past winter, we went back to Gilkey to replace our family room doors. We had a wall of 2 large windows and 1 door--this was replaced with an enormous set of sliding doors. Gilkey was the only company the was able to make a door set so large--it is fantastic. We love our new sliding door--it gives us more flexibility in our furniture placement and is easier to use for our youngest child and his friends. I would recommend you consider Gilkey for your doors and windows. One more thing--the installers for Gilkey are professional --they are Gilkey employees that are not subcontractors--not only that, but they take their time to get the work done well and with precision. (Our windows were even installed on a snowy day and all went well.)

I’d like to start out saying the crew was polite and professional and the windows are good quality and an affordable price. That said, I have a real problem with the sliding patio door off the kitchen. It’s unacceptably difficult to open and hard to close. A child or older adult could not do it. The installer said the seals might need to wear in a bit. It has been over a month now for a door we use constantly with no change. I’m going to call Gillkey and lodge a formal complaint as I think that I’ve given ample time for the issue to resolve itself.

This is our second Gilkey project; we initially purchased 20+ windows for an 1860’s Victorian and they were perfect in every respect; now with a newly purchased 1950’s ranch we needed 3 large picture windows replaced. The service had to be pushed back a week due to the key installer being ill and they did not want to risk it being a covid case which I appreciated but they arrived on time the day of the install and were very thorough and professional even took the time to look at our other door to see why it was not shutting properly without charge. We do like the windows that were installed. Qualitatively they are quite nice. They've been in now for going on 7 months. There was an immediate benefit in cold transfer and draft during the cold months. The jury is out on the heat transfer aspect that we paid extra for I assume that by the end of summer we'll have a handle on that. So for product I give a resounding thumbs up. A very glaring negative comes in follow up and customer service on the part of our salesman. I am personally in sales and all my customers get POST DELIVERY calls personally from me and If I"m scheduled off I am partnered with another sales associate who takes care of it for me yet my goal is to touch base with every customer myself when I return to work. I called Mr. Gilkey about it no so much to complain, but to make him aware of my experience and to give him a heads up of what I felt was lacking in my experience. An $8000,.00 order is not a small one in my opinion and deserves some follow up attention. ALL my customers get it whether they're a $50.00 sale or a $10,0000 sale. I thought he may want to address it in a general manner with his sales force as a type of constructive criticism. I also clearly said that at this point I didn't need to hear from my salesman, that my call was strictly to let him know my experience. A couple of days later my salesman called to ask about the "issue" i had and if I liked my windows. I felt I was being put on the spot especially after I told Mr. Gilkey I didn't need or want a call at that point. So I was very up front with the salesman about what my concern was. I explained to him how I organize my clients and make sure they're all called immediately upon delivery to make sure all was well and to invite them to contact me immediately if there are any issues in the future. And that I was concerned that even after 8 weeks I had heard nothing from him, no thank you , no follow up, no "how are you liking your $8000.00 purchase etc. His response to me seemed quite obtuse. He said.... and I paraphrase here " Well I hadn't heard anything from you so I figured everything was AOK." "Do you like your windows?" My concern seemed to be totally lost on him. I want to make it perfectly clear that our sales man other than this concern was very professional, curteous and pleasant. Just this one issue, and to me IT IS HUGE !!! is what left a very bad taste in my mouth.... A follow up call after a complaint is quite frankly coerced and forced.... and especially so when I specifically told Mr. Gilkey I didn't want or need to hear from him . As a side note, I wouldn't bother paying more for the "SMART GLASS" feature...... I notice zero difference in how water falls off my current windows as opposed to the old ones...... Other than that I really like the product.

I bought Gilkey Windows because my family has bought them for their whole house. Everything seemed fine until I started looking closely. The caulk job was missing. One of the screws on the door wasn't working. The hinge was the wrong finish. One of the windows had an issue and when they came to replace it, they had to reschedule because the glass was cracked (either they cracked it that day or it came cracked and no one checked it). When they replaced the hinge, they missed one of the screws. Overall, it was fine, I'm sure the windows and doors are awesome, kind of hard to tell unless I have 2 different kinds installed to compare, but it was a lot of little details, that most people don't notice, but I do. By the time they come back to finish everything it will be 3 follow ups with 2 cancellations and almost 3 months since the initial install.

Windows and a sliding door were installed November 11, 2018.The new windows are larger in size vs the old windows. The new windows take up more space and the mounting brackets of the old blinds will not fit. Therefore I will need to replace the blinds due to the the size change.The change in dimensions was not pointed out during the purchase of the new windows.

BE SURE TO READ THIS REVIEW IF YOU ARE IN THE MARKET FOR REPLACEMENT WINDOWS!!!! When Hurricane Ike hit the area, the corner welds broke on our windows on the front side of our house. I contacted several window companies for estimates and GILKEY WINDOWS was the only company that came back out to meet with the Insurance Adjuster. So we ordered the replacement Double Hung windows with Triple Pane Glass from Gilkey Windows. The rep from Champion came out (and did a poor job selling windows), but later called and said if we came to the SHOWROOM and ordered by a certain date, we would get a discount. We went to the SHOWROOM and it made it look like the WINDOWS sold themselves. (a better job than their rep.) They seemed AMAZING! So Gilkey replaced the front of the house and Champion did the back (which we paid out of pocket). At first, I thought I should have gone with Champion for the entire house based on the SHOWROOM PRESENTATION. GILKEY WINDOWS crew came and the windows were installed on one of the coldest days in January with lots of snow on the ground. The crew did an AWESOME JOB! Inside and out the job was done in a timely manner and they left the site remarkably clean. It wasn't until the snow melted that I only found a few fragments on the ground and they were tiny. GILKEY did a WONDERFUL job framing the windows, cleaning the area and making sure the customer was happy. CHAMPION came out to install their windows for the back of the house about ONE WEEK LATER, also cold and snowy as it was January. CHAMPION's crew made it look like a bomb went off inside and outside of our house. In our son's room there was glass and fragments found under the comforter on my child's bed! I saw Big gaps in the wall where they removed the original window, I pointed out to the crew leader and was told not to worry as the replacement window would cover it. There was glass and window fragments and old window framing scattered, covering our 20 x 30' patio and it extended to a tree by our pool in the back yard. One section we picked up was over 12 inches long of old window framing. CHAMPION's crew did not frame the replacement windows correctly either. It wasn't until I called their office telling them that GILKEY replaced windows on the front of our house ONE WEEK EARLIER and they should see how to frame a window correctly. At that point CHAMPION sent their crew out again and framed the windows they installed. I can tell you that it seems most of their framing was caulking. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH OUR GILKEY WINDOWS, but have HAD SEVERAL SEALS BREAK ON SEVERAL OUR CHAMPION WINDOWS. Most replacement sashes took 3-6 months to replace and we have had on occasion the replacement sashes not fit the window they were to replace. EXHAUSTING!!!!! I would tell neighbors, if you want to see the DIFFERENCE between GILKEY and CHAMPION, come on over. REMEMBER, the windows from GILKEY and CHAMPION were installed about ONE WEEK APART. It's not like CHAMPION installed their windows 5 years ago and Gilkey put windows in 6 months ago...They were installed about 1 week apart. If I had it to do all over again, My entire house would be GILKEY WINDOWS!! I have kept all my documentation of window orders for both companies and documentation on calendars and in folders with ALL the calls made to CHAMPION to fix their faulty windows. I hope this review is helpful to those who work hard for their money and want a QUALIFIED company such as GILKEY to do the job and get it done right the FIRST TIME. I learned my lesson.
