Crystal was so helpful and polite on the phone helping me figure out what to do with my first ever puppy. Dr. Fried and all the staff are so kind and explain everything. I never feel rushed and leave happy. My dog loves all the attention she gets from the staff too. Don’t look anywhere else, this is the best vet office in town! 10/10

Best service ever! My dog was experiencing itchy ears for a few days. Despite not having an appointment (which they normally don’t take walk ins) they allowed us to come in for a check up since my dog was uncomfortable and in pain. He’s been coming to this location since he was a puppy and is very comfortable seeing them. Thank you very much Riverdale Team!

The Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They greet you, you fill out paperwork and you are spoken to individually by a Staff member. At that time you go over any issues, shots needed etc. Afterwards your pet is taken into the examination room. You wait in the sitting room. When the Vet is finished he/she comes to talk with you. It was a good experience. My cat received her shots and she was fine. Business is booming there. There was a steady flow of pets coming and going. The place is also very neat with a restroom on the premises.

Just had annual check up and shots for my fur babies. Love this place. So professional and caring with the animals. Spotless, no bad odors, pet treats available. Expensive...but quality of service and preventative care of my babies is worth paying for. Glad to see PPE protocols in place. They even called the next day to see how the girls felt after shots.

I have 5 cats and I really enjoy bringing them to this clinic because everyone treats me and my cats with a lot of love and care and everything is explained and very understanding and the price is affordable. My cat knight had a hurt leg and my smallest cat Luna needed shots.everything went smooth. The decisions are made between me and the doctor and the nurses for what's best for my cats. The clinic is organized, clean and very friendly. I love going and my cats are all healthy thanks to you. Thank you everyone for the support and love.

I was especially impressed with the way the vet assistants/ techs were able to handle my very difficult to handle dog for the exam. Dr. Fried and the staff at RVG are the most knowledgeable, professional, kind, and caring group I have ever encountered. Having been a dog owner my whole life, I have had numerous vets in my life, and they are above and beyond the best ever. RVG has been the only group to take care of the three dogs we currently own. They have such an easy way to explain simple and complex treatments that are either recommended or required. I have never had to wait a minute beyond my scheduled appointment time, but if I did have to wait, their waiting room is a very comfortable environment. From gourmet coffee, giant screen TV, soothing art work, pleasant wall decor, and impeccably clean, the vet experience has always been a pleasurable one for me and my family. I would strongly suggest bringing your furry friends to see Dr. Fried and the staff at RVG. We travel from over 20 miles away just to get their caring touch.

I've used Riverdale Veterinary Group since we first got our Pembroke Welsh corgi puppy in May 2014. They have been not only professional and extremely meticulous in caring for our Freyja, they have made us feel like part of the family. From the follow-up calls after vaccinations to make sure she wasn't having a bad reaction to the humoring of anxious pet parents when Freyja was spayed, everyone on the staff has been amazing, kind, and caring. I absolutely love Dr. Palmeri, Dr. Emmerich and all the staff at Riverdale Veterinary Group, and recommend them wholeheartedly.

I can not say enough great things about Riverdale Vet Group and their caring staff. I’ve been taking my cats n dog there since they first opened and every visit has been a pleasure. Dr Freid, Dr Tucker, the vet techs. and the women who work reception are superb!! They accommodate all emergencies. When calling to schedule a non emergency appointment they always get you an appointment the very next day. All doctors and staff are so professional, knowledgeable and caring. The doctor calls you the following day with all test results. I foster kittens and I take the crew there immediately. My two year old cat tore his nail on a few occasions and they see him immediately, surgically remove the nail and he is good as new. You know it’s a good vet group when your cats aren’t afraid once they arrive. Staff are quick to put you into an exam room so not to stress out the animals. The staff keeps the office running smooth and appointments are always kept on time. They give multi animal discounts and their prices are reasonable. Cat n dog owners, give them a try and you won’t be disappointed.

The doctors and all of the staff at Riverdale Veterinary are knowledgeable, calm, warmhearted and I always feel like they have my pets' best interests at heart. They are truly animal lovers. When my elderly dog has needed special treatment, Dr. Fried has called the specialist himself to get me an immediate appointment. My dog can be aggressive, so when I come in they put me in an exam room so he won't have to be miserable in a muzzle. One day I had a total meltdown and they were just wonderful. My old dog is currently very sick but with their treatment, support and advice he is doing amazingly well. I could go on and on about the competence and kindness they have always shown. I feel like a member of a really great family. They have my highest recommendation.

Dr.Fried has always been there for both my cats Midnight & Day since they were kittens. One day Midnight became very sick and she just didn't seem like her self. I was very nervous and worried about the outcome. Dr.Fried told me he needed to keep her and run tests, when he finished i was told me she was in kidney failure. I was devastated, but he told me he will do everything possible to help her respond to the meds. After a week i brought her home where she could be with myself & Day her sister. I contined with the treatments at home hoping for a miracle she was still not responding. It was one of the hardest decidsions that i had to make for her and i couldn;t see her in Pain any longer. Dr.Fried and his staff made everything so peaceful, compassionate & loving because i was an emotional wreck. Midnight & Day got me through the best and the worst days of my life after i lost my mom to cancer. I will never forget what Dr.Fried and his staff has done for me Midnight & Day.

They were able to squeeze my cat is (as a new patient too!) on a very busy day to get her eye checked. Dr. Tucker & staff were all extremely kind and thorough. They also called to follow up a week after her visit to see how she was doing- which I have never experienced at any other vet. Very thankful to have them and would HIGHLY recommend.

A friend recommended me this place, and I was so happy to have come here. At first my 4-month old miniature poodle was nervous, but then he warmed up and stopped shaking. The doctor and assistants were so caring and lovable to my puppy. Preventive care and wellness was very informative and vital for me to know. We have been bringing our dog to their practice since we adopted him 12 years ago. Dr. Freid is patient when answering questions. We've used their boarding services, once for an extended period of two weeks. The vet techs are amazing. Our pup was cared for very well. Finally our dog had to have surgery a few times and we are thankful for everything the entire practice did to make a very stressful time more bearable.

I love this place. It’s very cleans and it looks like you are at pediatric clinic. The receptionists are sweet and Dr. fried makes your dog important. A friend of mine recommended this place because she takes her pets. You receive a call next day after your appointment in order for them to know how your pet is doing ok. I will be honest, they are a little pricey, but the way that they make you feel welcome, you are willing to pay for the service.

Our cat got sick while we were out of town. I called RVG and they had the cat sitter bring her over that day. They were very attentive with following up with her progress that evening and clear about how we would know if we had to bring her back in. They arranged a procedure for her the next day. We appreciate how kind and thorough they were to the animal and the cat sitter, an 18 year old who had never had to take an animal to the vet on her own before. BTW, kitty is doing fine!

I always take my yorkie here for her shots and care.. I called to get my yorkie in same day but unfortunately this place was booked and I had to find another vet which I regret going to.. Riverdale vet has always cared for my yorkie and they are not money hungry. The vet doctor took her time to explain to me of my yorkies condition. If you want good quality care for your pet, this is definitely the place to go.

I became aware of the Riverdale Veterinary Group when we adopted a rescue dog. Along with the adoption we got a free first check up for our new family member. RVG was on the list we had to choose from, and was the only listing in The Bronx. The first visit was a totally positive experience. The place is clean from the waiting area to the examination rooms. The vets and staff are knowledge, patient, courteous, professional and friendly. Also impressive is that you get a follow up call from the office if your pet is treated for an illness. I live in The Bronx and there are at least a 10 veterinary places that are much closer to me than the RVG. I've never thought about going to any other place. I happily travel past all of them to go to the RVG they treat my dog like her well being is not only important to me, but is important to them also. I find their prices to be reasonable and the service they provide is worth every penny. If you are looking for a vet I highly recommend RVG. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. I know this picky person wasn't.

When my kitty of almost 23 years had to leave us They preformed so thoughtfully that I knew she would be OK. Once she passed over they were so sympathetic and understood the pain I was feeling. I transferred here because they have great hours and boarding - and the staff really cared for and made my pet comfortable. One drawback though is the length of the wait to be seen. And post Covid the docs stand in the crowded room with you and shout oddly loudly about your pets treatment. Second issue is the lack of cleanliness and the smell. Not sure why they don’t clean more. Pre-renovation I wasn’t a regular patient yet and came in for an emergency. I remember their examining rooms looked and smelled very dirty - so strong I got queasy. After the renovation I thought they had new management and started coming regularly. It soon became the same smelly mess. Also I found fleas after taking my dog back from boarding there. I hope they can prioritize the cleanliness standards we would want to see at a medical facility as much as caring for the pets.

I have been coming to Riverdale. Vet Group (and most often Dr Fried) for nearly 15 years. I cannot say enough positive things about him and his practice. I have always felt that he is responsive to animal parents and — in addition to his expertise — I consider this factor central to his professionalism and success. My dogs and cats have also been seen by other veterinarians in his practice and they have proven to be very professional as well. The administrators and technicians are passionate about animals and are like family.

They are very attentive to our pet's needs. The doctors will always get back to you when you call to consult on steps to take to deal with any illnesses. Getting medication is easy as is any special diet food. It's just a matter of calling and the meds and food are prepared for you, usually by the next day. Very convenient weekday hours (until 8) and weekend hours (both Saturday and Sunday).

We have gotten excellent service at Riverdale Veterinary. I initially took my four-year-old rescue dog there when another vet wanted unrealistic fees for doing routine dental work. Since then my dog has gone there many times. They have been very accommodating about scheduling. The staff is great and very helpful. They are very kind to the animals . And have been very thorough with the examination and explanation of outcomes. Just looking around the waiting room you can see that they have been like family to many animal owners. They are very professionals and caring. I love the way they treat my dog. The place looks modern and is always clean. The ladies at the front desk are very sweet, and my dog is always excited to come here. My dog is a 7 months old puppy, and because traveling reasons, I had to take him to boarding for 4 days. At first I was worried on how my dog will feel. I thought that he might think that we abandon it at the clinic, but to my surprise when I pick him up, he was very happy. I think the techs took care of him very well. I am so happy that I choosed to be my dogs vet clinic.

When Dr. Fried talks to you about your pet, he makes you feel like you're the only patient in his clinic. It's very clear he became a veterinarian exclusively because he cares about animals. I absolutely trust Dr. Fried, his recommendations, and the decisions he makes and I'm not easy to win over as I've had some negative experiences at other clinics and am very protective of my sweet old dog. You'd be hard pressed to find a more dedicated veterinarian who's invested in your pet's well being.

My experience at Riverdale Veterinary Group couldn't have been better. The waiting room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Dr. Chang was thorough in her exam and discussion of options. Treatment for my pooch was the least aggressive and least intrusive and It Worked! I received a follow up call a few days later to see how he was doing. The cost was very reasonable.

Amazing veterinary! They took the utmost care of my cat who needed pyometra surgery with mass removal and saved her life. They genuinely care about your pet and will give you all the information you need to make sure they stay healthy. Will definitely recommend and be coming back for future visits.

I have mixed feelings about this office. On one hand they always have appointments and generally do a good and perfunctory job and are not overpriced. One the other hand I feel that’s it’s a job to the staff and there is no real love for the work they do. Oftentimes they miss small, but important, details- for example raw and bloody paw pads on my new foster dog and not cleaning up my pet after a neuter. He was handed off to us with literal blood dripping down his leg. They don’t seem to go the “extra mile” and sometimes can be a bit condescending.

Brought our recently adopted kittens here for a checkup. I'm so glad I trusted all of these positive Google reviews, because they were very accurate! The entire staff is wonderful. The technicians and veterinarian were informative, on time, and most importantly - gentle & kind with our kittens! They even helped us trim their nails and showed us how to clean their ears. The office is clean and doesn't have the usual funny smell that a lot of vet clinics do. I recommend this vet 100%, we are so happy to have found them!

My 9yr old pet turtle passed on 10/30 and they were very compassionate and comforting she was cremated. I afterwards took her partner to ensure her safety all went well. The staff are kind, attentive. Doctor Fried was kind understanding listened and answered all my questions and concerns taught me tips going forward with my remaining pet turtle. I am very satisfied.

Riverdale Veterinary Group is such a warm , caring place to bring our fur babies. I just wish I knew of this place sooner for my other fur babies that i had. 1) I understand its Covid-19, but I didn't like the fact that I had to wait in the waiting area while my cat was being examined. I preferred to be there with her and see what exactly is being done, as it is my right. 2) The young lady at the front desk, she sits to the left of the desk once you walk into the office, is very rude. I've watched how she talks to other patients, and its nasty. I had my own experience with her as I called the office to make an appointment. She needs to learn to speak respectfully and more professionally. Other staff memebrs were fine. With the price I am told to pay for the services, I expect more professionalism, and respect from the front desk staff. The doctor however, were fine.

I few days ago I had to put my pet rat Baby to sleep. They were the only ones that took in exotic pets in my area and it was an emergency. They gladly took me in on the same day I called. They made me feel so at peace even though I was losing a loved one, and they actually take the time to examine and TOUCH my pet, instead of just looking and assuming. Dr Fried and the nurse that was assisting him were very delicate and super sensitive and comforted me on my loss. The staff actually care about the animals here and not about charging you first. They make sure you and your pet are comfortable and I highly recommend them. Will now be taking my dog and any future pets here. I recommend giving them a call before visiting.

Dr. Tucker is awesome!!!! She's very caring and gentle. My cat usually isn't fond of strangers because he's so little. But he loves Dr. Tucker. He lays all out like he lives there. His vet visits are 100% stress free. He remains so calm when in the hands of Dr. Tucker. Front desk staff are very professional and nice, even their phone manner! I've been coming here for years and they are very accommodating when squeezing you in for an appointment.

I am so happy to have found this place. So close to home and the MOST CONVENIENT APPOINTMENT TIMES. I had a 7:15 pm appointment and never once felt rushed. The Doc was amazing, sweet, patient and very informative. The vet tech / assistant was awesome with my pitbull and made me feel super comfortable. The front desk woman was super helpful over the phone and even sweeter in person. She showed genuine care and made sure i understood everything. This place is definitely 5 STARS !

I was very happy with the way they worked. I got there on time, they called me, they took my dog in without me(COVID-19 rules), they were done in less then 30min, I had to wait for the bill and the test but over all it was a great experience. I used to take my dog to another vet but this one is by far the best one. The veterinarian was very friendly and happy to answer my question, it’s a little pricy but the service and hospitality that was provided it was worth it.

The staff has always been friendly and professional and patient when dealing with our very large dog (130 lbs). We have always received wonderful care and even board him there. You can tell they do a great job as their neighbor, a locksmith, recognized my dog on the street since he saw him being played with several times in their exercise space while being boarded. I adopted a cat from a shelter and no one had any information on him. He became ill not long after coming home. I took him to this clinic and they instantly took him in and gave him a thorough check up. I took him home and my cat was good as new. Clean place. Awesome staff. Overall very pleasant experience.

Usually not crowded at all. Staff is friendly. Doctors seem to have a good handle on the animals. I moved to this veterinary center from the bronx vet center cause of poor care and I'm very happy I switched such a different environment. Only thing i didn't like is they don't allow you in the back with the animal. I assume cause of covid I hope it changes tbh.

I took my kitten here yesterday and let me tell you my experience was amazing the people there are extremely nice they even worked with me on the price and they saved my baby. My kitten had bad diarrhea to the point there was blood in her stool now my baby Chloe catdashian is even better than ever her poop is still a little watery but the blood is gone in a couple days I believe her poop will be back to normal thanks Riverdale Veterinary Group I can't thank you guys enough I would highly recommend this vet

My cat was very sick with excessive drooling he couldn't eat or sleep. I took my cat to Riverdale Veterinary Group and the receptionist was very attentive and caring. My cat Charlie had dental problems and 5 teeth were taking out. The doctors were also attentive to Charlie's needs and my pocket. I received a call before, during, after and the next day. I have had several different experiences at vets in the bronx. This was by far the best. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and my appointment was completed quickly. For the services I requested, it probably came out to around 100 dollars more than it would have at my previous vet, but with that said I would do it again, and its worth paying more for a dramatically better experience. I had to take my 8 year old bombay cat in he was suffering from urinary obstruction they did an analysis on his body the test was for $75.00 they did find out his kidneys were swollen and he had low temperature and was obstructied. They couldn't do anything for him so they referred me to an emergency hospital where my cat could've been saved but the price tag for his procedure was too expensive and I didn't have insurance so I had to ultimately make the decision to euthanize my poor kitty he was in pain and discomfort. Nontheless this Vet was very professional and attentive I will return and recommend for other pet owners.

I've always had a good experience with Dr. Fried. He's an excellent vet and I've been bringing my dogs to him for years. I recently had my 15 year old pug undergo a dental procedure with him, under anesthesia. It was risky, but she came out fine and is doing great. This place is not the cheapest, but if you want a vet who gives correct diagnoses and doesn't try to sell you on every vaccine and test in the book, then Dr. Fried is worth it.

I "inherited" my cat Tenglo from my cousin a few years back. Tenglo was already a senior cat. After a short time having her as my pet, we discovered that she had a kidney disease. Let me add that Tenglo was a somewhat of a feral cat and could bite at a moment's notice. Dr Fried was so patient with her. Everyone in the practice were absolutely amazing, even when she bit one of the techs, never once did they make me feel bad or un-welcomed. Dr Fried helped me care for Tenglo. What I always like about him is that he never pushed me to make decisions. He gave me the facts, listened to my worries (and cries) and supported every decision I made without pushing me. We switched her food and I gave her fluids on a consistent basis. She continued to live a good life despite her disease. If it wasn't for Dr Fried, she would not have been well taken care of as much as he did. She ended up developing diabetes. She had a seizure one night and I had to rush her to the emergency room where I made the tough decision that it was time to let her go. Dr Fried called me the next day and I remember sobbing to him on the phone asking if I did enough for her. I will never forget what he said to me. he said: "Lara you did more for this cat than anyone else would have. if it wasn't for you..." Well if it wasn't for him, she wouldn't have had half the care she got at his practice anywhere else. Thank you Dr. Fried.

I have only had great experience at this vet. Yes, the prices are expensive, but no more than other vets to which I have taken my cats. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. There is never a long wait time.I have two instances that have set this vet apart from others: One of my cats was clearly in pain and needed a vet asap. It was a Sunday. He had been a patient at Riverdale vet, so they were familiar with his failing health. They could not accommodate him at the time, so they made arrangements for him to be seen at sister vet in a close enough neighborhood. I had to put him down that day. He did not have to endure one more day in pain because his vet found a way to help. They did not get any of the payment involved, so it really was all about my wonderful Champ. I also received a condolence card from them. This may have been an extenuating circumstance, but it is a response during difficult times where trust is built. Especially for any kind of care giver. Another thing that has set this place apart is that I was very straightforward with the vet about my present financial difficulties and being able to only provide the minimal needs to keep my other, 10-yr old, cat healthy. I was surprised with his candidacy. In addition to helping me keep my expenses low by doing the minimum for her, he provided me with preventive measures for plaque he saw building up in her mouth that could cause problems for her in the future. I would not go to a doctor I don't trust first and foremost. Why would I not do the same for my feline family?! We're lucky that they are so near. Picture is of happy times with Champ and Tully. 😺😸

I have been taking my pets (guinea pig, pet rat, cats and dog) to RVG since the early 90's. They are truly the best! The day Super Storm Sandy was hitting I had an emergency with my cat Corey, and although they were closing early, they told me to come right in! That's dedication. Dr Fried also taught me how to do fluid infusion at home for my cat Frisco's kidney condition and that gave him an extra year of quality of life. I won't go anywhere else. The entire staff is great.

I am happy to have found a good vet that I trust and like since moving to Riverdale. I have seen all of the vets here and they are caring, thorough and understanding. They give my dog the treatment he needs and do nothing excessive or unnecessary. The front desk staff are also very happy to have me bring my dog by (to try to get him more used to coming to the vet) and weigh him and give him a treat. My only complaint is the flat office visit is at least $20 more that my previous vet (rent is high for everyone in Riverdale I guess). But, I would definitely recommend this vet.

I am giving 3 stars and will do my best to give an honest good vs bad review. The Good: - Most of the vet techs and vets at this office are very nice. Dr. Fried is A+ Amazing. He patiently answered every detailed question I had about my pup when we found sediment in her bladder, and I had literally brought a list. Based on his recommendations, Kitana is doing much better. The vet techs that I have met in-person are very gentle and kind to her as well. - The office is very clean and their approach to handling patients during COVID is organized and not at all chaotic. The receptionists are quick and efficient when it comes to scheduling. The Bad: - I was charged for a fecal exam which I had previously confirmed with the Dr was not actually done (as there were no results to report). I tried resolving this with the receptionist over the phone and she put me on hold mid-sentence (I guess because she didn't feel like listening to me explain the issue?) to look something up. Despite her looking up whatever it was, she still didn't understand and I had to repeat myself anyways. She told me that she would contact the doctor about it, as she couldn't confirm if the fecal was done or not. This is still not resolved. - Maybe this is also a complaint to Inwood Animal Clinic for having misleading information on their website, but that was Kitana's old vet, and I found out about Riverdale Vet because they were listed as a "sister office" and as an "Emergency Option." Since Riverdale is (was) Kitana's main vet, and I had seen them listed as a place to contact in an Emergency, I reached out to them after my pup was stung by a wasp. It was about 7-7:15 PM and her face was blowing up-- very scary to say the least. My instinct was to, of course, call the vet. Whoever took my call that day seemed to be WAY more concerned with the fact that I was coming in so close to 8 PM (their closing time). I told him I was about 15-20 mins ride away, and here he is asking me if I am sure I will "make it before 8 PM," while my dog is breaking out in hives. I was only coming from Inwood. He then told me that I needed to go to North Yonkers to the ER Vet because "they couldn't help her." You wanna know what they did at the ER Vet? They gave Kitana a shot of liquid Benedryl and steroids, and they observed her for an hour to make sure it helped. You mean to tell me that Riverdale Vet doesn't have liquid Antihistamine or Epinephrine onsite? Or steroids? And I do understand that if it became life-threatening, they would send me to the ER anyways, but why in the world wouldn't they at least give her a shot of Antihistamine and THEN send me to the ER vet? The tech goffed at the fact that I was livid as he told me the Yonkers ER was "only 10 more minutes further"-- do you realize that my dog would DIE on the way if the reaction started preventing her breathing? Do you realize that at that moment, every minute counted? Do you realize that this was my primary vet, and now I straight up don't trust you because you turned my dog and I away when we needed you most? I guess it was more important to him that he close-up shop on time. Unfortunately I didn't get his name because, you know, I was in the middle of an emergency... Kitana made a full recovery without any major complications, but I don't think my opinion of Riverdale Vet Group will.

Dr. Emmerich is awesome. Took my kitten there after he started having sxs of an upper respiratory infection. She diagnosed him, gave us information on how to care for him (first time kitty mom here so that was much appreciated). Discussed issues that can occur with his specific breed and what to look for in the future. Medication was provided and he got well very quickly. So grateful! Will definitely be bringing him back for his follow ups and shots.

Appointment time was scheduled ahead but my wait time was 30 plus minutes in delay. My first visit so I was not prepared for this lengthy wait. On the other hand it is very clean and a convenient location if you live in Bronx/Riverdale area and will need to walk there with animal. I was pet sitting but if I for some reason need vet services in future I would not hesitate to return. Also for first time appointments there is paper work to complete. If possible it would alleviate anxiety if paper work were emailed to clients to complete online/before visit. It is difficult to concentrate with barking dogs and constant movement.

After feeling like each new vet I visited was always pushing the most expensive, most invasive options in every situation, what an enormous relief to discover Dr. Fried! Particularly as my cat got old, and medical procedures became more and more risky, the whole Riverdale Veterinary staff was clear, helpful and patient in considering all the different options for treatment. When Dr. Fried was not available, I have also brought my cats in to other doctors on staff, and also had a good experience--the entire office seems to share in a culture of really listening. If only I could find an MD who treats their human patients with this type of thoughtful care.

Took my Sister and Soldier(Dog) here because we thought he had Scrotum Cancer. They were accommodating and caring. I don't live in the City, but my Sister do, so we had to coordinate schedules and change dates multiple times. Soldier is back to his old self, playful and ready to be rubbed. One thing I did not like or understand: Soldier needed medicine and the prescription had to be picked up from 92th Avenue. Why couldn't we go to Yonkers Pet Store or equivalent? It would have been easier. The prescription was put in at 12:00pm and would not have been ready until 2:00 - 5:00pm. Well if anybody knows city traffic, it is a nightmare! But overall, they treated him well and he is doing great! I asked her and she likes them a lot. She loves their service.

Wish I had found this Veterinary 5 years ago for my Maltese; it's like one stop shopping. Veterinary and Groomer all in one spot. The Vet was great with Myles and he looked so handsome after the Groomer was finished with him, and he was nice and calm. I took him to a well known pet store and their grooming services were horrible; not only did he come out with a gash, I explained to them that his nails had to be cut and please do not use the drill because it scares him, which they used; by the time I picked him up I did not recognize him. Our cat uses prescription food, so I go to RVG often. Always enjoy going there, seeing other pets who are waiting to see the doctors, and interacting with the friendly and thoughtful staff who work in the office. First of all, nothing takes the place of knowledgeable personnel - including doctors and staff. We will never forget how wonderful Dr. Fried was when our previous cat had to be euthanized several years ago. His understanding and patience were deeply appreciated. For that reason alone we would've continued to take our pets to RVG! But we have had similar experience there with our ...elderly... cat, Jessica, who was given a proper diagnosis several years ago for hyperthyroidism. The vet recommended an excellent hospital facility where the treatment she needed was provided, and RVG has followed up consistently to be aware if that condition (or any others) should recur. It is always easy to schedule appointments, and we have never felt that our cat was not important, that our questions were irrelevant, or that we were taking too much time by asking for information. All of these things are important. We all love our pets, and it makes such a difference when people at the vet's office sincerely care about patients' pets and want to do the very best possible for them. We are so grateful to have consulted RVG years ago, and plan to continue!

I brought my 13 year old cat Chloe to the Riverdale Vet clinic when she was sneezing and listless. The vet saw Chloe right away and diagnosed a bad cold. Although Chloe was afraid and annoyed at the office, she gave the Vet a really hard time because she did not want to be examined, the Vet was very patient even after Chloe bit him!He took Chloe into another room, was able to calm her down in order to treat her.I was very impressed by the Vets professionalism and calm attitude. I was also very pleased to find out that I did not have to try to force pills down Chloe's throat (Almost an impossible task) because they treated her with liquid anti biotics. Finally, I was most impressed because a few days later my Chloe was cured and happy again.

Doctor Derek Fried has been the primary care provider, but at times we have also used other doctors on staff. The only vet I relied on in this clinic when I lived in the area was Dr. Fried. You can tell that he works really hard. He was always available for my two ferrets, both of whom died from seperate, fatal illnesses. And he remembered their names and always returned a phone call. He also saved my rabbits life; she had a serious eye infection that wouldn't go away with medication and i had to scrounge up the money to get her eye surgery done. Dr. Fried successfully removed her dead eye and followed up with us in the months after. Fortunately, the surgery wasn't too expensive. I do feel a bit weird asking him questions to things I would like to better understand, though whenever I do, I get the sense that he is tired of "stupid" questions, and that they require some form of "common sense." Maybe he just doesn't have the energy at times to not give off that kind of vibe. But it makes me not wanna ask things. At one point, I needed my then-kitten neutered. Had a female vet do the checkup, and didn't really like her. I know a checkup is needed prior to t e operation, but think I ended up paying for extra tests that weren't necessary for the prepping. Kitten healed excellently but hated the painkiller meds. He foamed and drooled everywhere whenever he had the slightest taste of it, so we stopped givinv him that. All in all, my personal experience was decent. However, a fellow dog owner of whom I know personally said that this clinic had given her dog the wrong diagnosis, wrong meds, could never remember her pets or her (and she lives in the area) and pushed for having her dogs toe amputated. She got a second opinion and it was just a treatable infection. What I will agree with her is that the people behind the desk are very forgetful. And maybe they should know better for the most basic of questions.

I met with Dr. Rosado for my cat who had pleural effusion a few years ago. He recommended both medical and homeopathic treatments and referred Psyche to the animal hospital in Yonkers. When it became clear Psyche needed to be put down, Dr. Rosado responded with such grace and excellent bedside manner that I knew my 9 year old cat was in caring, loving hands in her last few minutes of life. RVG was so good at giving me my space and support. I have since adopted a dog who had what seemed to be an eye infection. I scheduled an appointment for Sunday afternoon, the staff gave Indie some water as soon as he arrived and even a leash, as I left ours at home in my rush to put him in his carrier for his appointment. Dr. Fried was very thorough and explained everything they would do for Indie's eye. The receptionist staff is friendly and clearly loves animals, the vet tech is super friendly and professional as well. Some steroid/antibiotic drops later, Indie's eye is already looking much better. I could not recommend Riverdale Vet Group more, they are just a great place to entrust your furry friends!

They ripped us off and made our beloved cat suffer needlessly.

On January 28, 2015, we took our beloved cat, Squiggy, to the Riverdale Veterinary Group. She is in her 14th year. She was unable to defecate. We knew this could be a dire situation and we were very worried and unsettled. Squiggy had been to this vet 2 or 3 times before, some years ago. We knew we were going to get excellent care for our cat, as had happened with previous visits. Dr. Jessica Palmeri explained to us that she would take x-rays, do blood work, and administer 2 or 3 enemas to try to loosen the feces which she felt was causing a blockage in Squiggy's bowel. She did all of that. The x-rays and bloods showed that Squiggy was basically okay. The enemas did not loosen the feces. Squiggy stayed overnight at the vet. The next morning Dr. Palmeri informed us that she would need to administer a light sedative and remove the feces manually, because it was like a block of cement. We agreed and she moved forward. The procedure was successful. We took our beloved cat home that evening, along with 2 prescribed meds. Squiggy is doing quite well; in fact, she seems to have become kittenish again. We are very happy with the results and the overall services of Riverdale Veterinary Group PC. I have had cats or dogs since early childhood and Dr. Palmeri is by far the very best vet I have ever encountered. Aside from excelling in her field, she has a wonderful and reassuring 'bedside manner'. The support staff there are welcoming, caring, and patient. Squiggy is in excellent and caring hands with Riverdale Veterinary Group PC.

Riverdale Vet has fine doctors, but I can't get by their mercenary practice. No money, no treatment. This is a totally for PROFIT outfit. And if you don't have ALL the money to pay, in an emergency, let's say, it is a big problem, even after being a customer for years. I understand it's a business, but it is also in the business of health care for our pets and emergencies do happen. People don't get turned away from an ER because of inability to pay, but Dr. Fried and his staff have no problem doing so.

I took my umbrella cockatoo, who was neglected and abuse for 20 years before I took it from the previous owner, to Riverdale veterinary for behavioral issues and for picking her feathers. Dr Reed suggested we do blood work to make sure everything was good. Turns out he made a good judgement call because the bird had a few issues. Can't express how I feel to know he figured out the problem and solution. Now my cockatoo Lucky has no more behavioral issue, improvement with the feather picking and no more medical issues. The staff helped me out as well with instructions on medications, making copies of all the paperwork for my records, and showed companion to my bird Lucky after hearing all of its previous neglect and abuse.

When an abandoned cat that I had found became ill on a Sunday, shortly after being spayed through a TNR program, I brought her to Riverdale Veterinary Group. She was treated and I brought her home, but she continued to go “down hill”. I brought her back the following Tuesday, when she was admitted to the hospital. Although I was expecting the worst, I was pleased to receive a call from Dr. Palmeri the following day, telling me that “Misty” was doing much better. I was very appreciative of the fact that Dr. Palmeri was able to diagnose, and correct Misty’s condition, without the use of more invasive diagnostic procedures. They took great care of my beloved Rudy who I had to put to sleep on May 30th at 13 years old as he was suffering so in the end.
