Our 15 yr old pup had some pretty severe oral health issues from his previous home. After dental surgery last week by Dr. Schwartz and her team, he is visibly happier and healthier! They did a wonderful job removing 9 bad teeth and thoroughly cleaning the ones that were salvageable. Plus, they included complimentary nail trimming while under anesthesia-I love little things like this that just make sense! His breath no longer makes us roll down the windows in car rides, and the pain/discomfort he used to feel is clearly gone. We are thrilled and so appreciative of these caring professionals for improving his life and undoubtedly extending it, too. We've taken our other dog there in the past year as well, and each time I've appreciated the way they operate their business, with prompt, detailed quotes and invoicing that's very reasonably priced. They've won us over, and Pablo agrees he's found the best vet in Portland.

I was so pleased with my experience at Portland Veterinary Wellness Center. Dr. Flott was incredible and answered all of my questions and reviewed a treatment plan with multiple options to make sure our needs were met. She was thorough and extremely compassionate with my sick kitty. I’m so grateful he was in such good hands! The prices were extremely fair and affordable and the quality of care was top notch. I can’t recommend this clinic enough! Nowhere else I’d want to take care of my sweet boy.

Over Christmas weekend my 2 year old cat was rushed to VCA for pyothorax, and by her follow up appt Tuesday she was already in the same condition as she was 3 days ago. They reached out before her visit to get her in sooner, and delivered fast care to my cat while also communicating with me while I couldn’t be there. In the end hard decisions had to be made and I don’t think anywhere could have made it EASY, but this was Yukis vet for the year I had her in Portland, and I have no regrets on the care she received. They were so empathetic to my situation, and I really did feel heard as an individual person not just one among many people who need help. I’ll always recommend this place.

DR DOUBLEDAY OFFERING ACUPUNCTURE! My 6 year old frenchie Javy was diagnosed with IVDD so suddenly. PVWC made room for him day of incident as they could hear my concern for my little guy who was in immense pain. Very grateful for them seeing us on short notice! Dr Doubleday and team examined Javy and explained his diagnosis & treatment plan very exceptionally. Dr mentioned she had been versed and practiced in acupuncture before, and how beneficial it is for IVDD dogs like Javy. Dr treated Javy with fair-priced acupuncture sessions (also package deals available!) and it has worked wonders for my best friend! More info if wanted: I took Javy to a neurologist as well, just to get second opinions and find the perfect treatment plan for his IVDD. The neurologist also attested to how important acupuncture can be for IVDD pets! The only difference I would make in my initial treatment plan is to start Javy on a steroid early, as he was prescribed a non-steroidal treatment beforehand. In my particular case with Javy, he responded much better to the steroidal route. Dr Doubleday & team at PVWC have been great through this entire journey! Please reach out if you find yourself in a similar situation as mine and Javy’s.

EDIT: The below review was true in 2021. I needed to get a shot for one of my pets recently and was in a time crunch and they were the only ones available. So I gave them a second try. This time I had no issues with them. Seems they've sorted out their staffing issues and I have gone back a few times for other small things plenty happy with the results. Old review: Not impressed, sure, staff was polite and place was clean, costs were fair. The issue is It feels like you're being put through a conveyor belt rather than being seen individually. No notes were taken about transferring my dogs records from a previous place, nor follow up with me when they were having trouble locating them in order to resolve the issue before the scheduled appointment. The volume seems higher then what the clinic can manage for proper customer care and attention. Edit: changed to one star after the large volume of marketing spam they sent to both my phone and email. I've unsubscribed from three different things at this point. I'm just waiting for the junk mail.

The staff are always so warm and kind; knowledgeable and thorough. I was able to get an appointment for my senior cat within two days of calling to inquire about a checkup. If you have cats, I suggest requesting Dr. Erickson as your vet. She is definitely a cat whisperer. Thank you, Portland Veterinary Wellness Center!

I have been bringing my dogs and cats here since 2019. On Saturdays you can see Dr. Erickson, who is a very proficient veterinarian and a must have for cats that require any special needs. Anytime a tech or intern can't answer my questions, I wait for them to have a vet answer my questions and I have always been satisfied. I live their approach to diagnosing ailments before treating them so we save money in the long run and aren't putting the pets through unnecessary treatments and prolonging their issues. They always try to make time for near-emergency issues with my pets and I always feel comfortable with the thoroughness of care offered. They offered my senior dog wonderful care for his last 2 years and they've helped me through some serious kitten illnesses as well.

This is the best bet experience I’ve ever had. They were great with my dogs nervousness and didn’t make me feel like it was a training issue, they didn’t shame me for turning down services or wanting to do them another day, and they didn’t pressure me to agree to anything before bringing an itemized quote, and didn’t get annoyed about providing pricing and information. These are all things I’ve had issues with at past vets and I would definitely come back! Some prices seemed higher than other vets, but there’s a few factors here: good service, inflation, metro area.

This place is very Accommodating I told them I need make a vet appointment today. They did not have any slots available but I told them that it was necessary since it was a service dog and of concern about his health. They went through their files and found a council and booked it for me today. On the way to The appointment I ran into some very heavy construction. I had to call them and tell them I was going to be 30 minutes late. They told me it was no problem and that they would still see See me but it would be as a walk in. It did cost me extra but it was OK it wasn't much extra than would have been before. It cost me $ $40.50 Over all to get my Son's service dogs seen today. The customer service here is wonderful.

We brought our dog here for an urgent care visit to remove a blockage from his throat. They were able to accommodate a day-of appointment when most other clinics could not and did a phenomenal job. Staff was super friendly, the vet our pup saw was very knowledgeable and kind, and the entire process from start to finish was very straightforward. This clinic will be my go-to for any future pet emergencies!

Everything about our first vet visit here was wonderful. The vet, vet assistant and front desk staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. My little rescue terrier was a nervous wreck (as usual at the vet). The vet had such a kind, reassuring manner that he relaxed and it made the experience better all around. As a bonus, the cost was a third less than our previous vet and we were able to get in a month sooner. Highly recommend! *edit to review for 5 stars*

Dr. Schwartz and her team are extremely caring and kind to my animals. She provides excellent preventative care, performed a spectacular routine dental cleaning on my 7 year old cat, refills their flea and tick medication very quickly, and is available for consultations when I am worried about my cats’ health. The prices are also very fair and affordable. I drive out of my way to make sure my pets are cared for by this team. I highly recommend Dr. Schwartz and Portland Veterinary Wellness Center to take care of your pets.

I brought my dog who is highly anxious in for his annual check-up and he was not able to see his regular veterinarian. We saw Dr. Fowler who was absolutely amazing with my dog! She took the time to ask about his triggers, moved slow and cautiously, giving my dog time to acclimate to her. The vet tech Ray was also amazing, taking the time to work with my dog's needs, keeping him as comfortable as possible. I've been coming here for many years and this group of veterinarians seems to be the most cohesive bunch I've worked with as a pet owner.

I have seen 2 different vets at this location and they were both awesome! They’re very friendly and knowledgeable they took great care of my doggo. He needed surgery and I was terrified to send him in to have it done. They took extra special care even letting him hang out with them and not be in a kennel because he’s a husky mix and hates a kennel and is very vocal about his dislike. Lol. He’s very happy and healthy now. They are wonderful!

I have been taking my pup here since 2020. The staff are so kind, time efficient and really care about the animals that they are taking care of. They take the time to listen to any concerns you have about your pet and help you through the progress of getting your pet's needs met. They send reminders about appointments and vaccinations by email and by phone. I always feel like my pup is in good hands with them. I highly reccomend.

I love this place I have taken all my animals there and I've always taken care of them. When I had to put my hamster down just take care of him physically and emotionally they took care of me as well my dog died two years ago it was decided that I wanted him to just be comfortable but let him go naturally and they supported me through the whole process and now that I have my mom's dog since she's passed out on they have taken care of us in a holistic manner. They are super friendly and respectful with the animals and the costumer decisions about what the treatment for your pet. With all the changes due to the current situation the attention was excellent and I didn't take extra time. I love the way the assistant was with my super shy dog. She was friendly yet respectful of my dog's need for space, at the end of the visit my dog was super friendly with her.

We had an emergency late in the day on a Friday and the Portland veterinary wellness center treated us with compassion and understanding. They were booked for the rest of the night but made room us, as well as waited patiently while we traveled across the city to the clinic. The staff was amazing, the service was excellent and the prices were extremely fair. By far the best veterinary visit we have experienced. I am autistic and sometimes struggle to communicate under stress. Dr. Flott was patient and a great communicator. I felt confident that my cat was in good hands. This is 4 stars instead of 5 because, while Dr. Flott wore a mask, the other staff did not. Cats are the pets most easily able to contract covid. I hope they will all wear masks in the future. Outside of this concern, I would give them more than 5 stars if I could!

By the way, on our first appt., our doggie went in with her muzzle on to get her nails clipped and her hips checked. My small dog and large cat both had a problem with fleas and I had to take them to the vet for treatment. It was our first visit to this Vet Clinic as our previous vet had retired. This Vet came very highly recommended to me from a friend. So this is where I took my kitty for his wellness check and to be neutered. Update: my husband and I adopted a dog in April of 2021. She has had a lot of medical issues, but the team at Portland Veterinary Wellness Center has been amazing in her care. Dr. Erikson had her suspicion and she was correct, our puppy had an ectopic ureter. It was fixed by a specialist at a different office and since then Finn has been under the watchful eye of Dr. Flott. We are so incredibly grateful for the love and care they provide for our furry family members. Dr. Schwartz is one of the best. I’d been seeing a different vet and nothing was changing with my dog. On our first visit with her she went a completely different direction than his previous vet and we finally, after months of a sick dog, had answers and a plan to make him better. I wouldn’t take my pets to anyone else. She is the best and so are the techs. They are so good to my animals and are willing to do what they can to make them feel comfortable during their visits.

Dr. Emma, was absolutely Fantastic with my 2 girls. Sasha, who is 12 years old and Diamond who is 7. She was very thrustful and the girls warmed up to her really quick. I love this place! They are my go-to for my Eastern Box Turtle, Wheaton. They thoroughly check him every time and give me great tips. They also all seem to really care about him. Recently I brought him for some symptoms he's been having and got some info on vitamins he's missing. It's a good price for such good check-ups and his nail trims.

But the folks at PVWC are so great and Swift and efficient and kind Meme doesn't comeback distraught only slightly disappointed in us as her humans for making her go in the first place. Overall the appointment went well regarding the changes due to COVID. I would have loved to know that I wouldn’t be allowed in prior to pulling up but their phone process seems to be working well! I love to see this be a virtual option in the future to be able to see why the doctor is looking at while doing the exam, and if I have something I want to point out. With a lot of vets offices in my neighborhood, they're booked more than a month out but I got an appt with the Portland Veterinary Wellness Center for the next week when I contacted them. Hopefully, they helped my dog with a persistent ear infection for a third of the price that I would have paid at the specialist. I'm definitely going back! A later comment- I really appreciate how nice the vet technicians are. I bet their job can get stressful and they are always happy to see my VERY high energy dog.

I had a great experience with Portland Vet Wellness: excellent communication and they call back when they say they will to follow-up. Filling prescriptions was very easy, and my pet was in and out within her appointment timeframe. Very affordable too!

I just got my kitty home from our first appointment there. I loved it! The receptionists were SO nice, as was the nurse. They were very gentle with my cat, who had been punctured by a stick which caused an abscess. They shaved her, cleaned her and injected her with antibiotics for fewer than $150. Something exceptional I witnessed was a situation in which two dogs in the lobby were loudly barking at each other (for excitement or aggression reasons I don't know, but it was shriek-like barking) and the receptionist worked quickly to deescalate and move the dog to the other area. I dunno, it just seemed knowledgeable and professional. Anyway yeah if my cat gets effed up again I'm definitely willing to bring her back! If there was anything I would side-eye (but not hard), it's that we only spent a hot second with the doctor. I don't know if it was just an extremely quick diagnosis or a time-crunch, but that would be my only complaint.

Not cheap for what they offer. And not overly professional either. They canceled one appointment on me due to illness and didn't reach out to reschedule for a time. Today we went in for a vaccine. The tech didn't see us for nearly 40 minutes. Others who arrive after us were seen 1st and it wasn't until I called from the car to remind them we were waiting for 30 minutes that a tech finally came. I just can't see paying this much to be treated this poorly consistently.

I’ve been bringing my senior Persian cat here for years. They’ve always been affectionate and attentive to her chronic needs. The techs are always so friendly and the facilities (when we could enter pre-COVID) were clean. One thing I love about this place and why I recommend them is that they don’t price gouge!!! Their prices are fair and they don’t recommend all sorts of pricey treatments. That’s huge in my book!! Thanks Portland Vet Wellness Center!

9/1/2020 EDIT: This review was for the previous clinic when it was Companion Pet Clinic. They have since sold their practice with no notice to clients and the new practice says they have none of my pets' records from the past 4 years despite having the same staff. I'm leaving the review as is since I'm not sure who was responsible for losing 4 years worth of vet records, but I am moving to a different vet. - The staff here are compassionate and you can tell they love their job. Because it's the least expensive vet in the area, every visit is usually somewhat of an attempt to upsell. However, when I recently brought in my cat who hates the vet and goes into full panic mode, they were really terrific about getting us in and out with an understanding of her needs. Because they don't have weekend hours anymore and I work during the hours they are open, I have to take off from work for any visit. Eventually I'll need to find a new vet, but I appreciate them being there for now.

The new owners of this clinic have really turned it around. We have had some bad experiences here in the past but the last two times we have been here our dog has received compassionate, honest and genuine care. Our dog is very elderly and the veterinarian and her wonderful assistant were so good with him. He hates the vet so much but they made our trip as quick and painless as possible. We were worried (from experience with visits in the past) that the vet would try to push us into spending a lot of money on treatments that might not even do him any good but they were honest and to the point and the tests cost less than we thought they would. I really believe that they are doing what is best for the animals here, and that can be really hard to find in a veterinary clinic. Thank God for places like this who help us take care of our furry family members when we need them.

First time visit since the name change from Companion Pet. Went to them because our vet is closed on Saturday and this was an emergency, of sorts. Dog ended up needing to be sedated and the wound cleaned. Procedure went well but we were sent home without any post-op instructions. Tried to call them same day and got voicemail. Decided to just "Google" for the instructions. They're good in a pinch but I wouldn't consider them for my animal's primary veterinary care because of the lack of communication (post-op instructions). They seem overwhelmed and understaffed.

I was in recently for follow-up on an aged cat with chronic conditions. We have taken two cats here for seven years, and are usually seen by our primary care vet whom we like and trust very much. When, as recently, I see one of the other vets (all women), we get excellent care. The current care team has no connection with a former clinician about whom there has been negative reportage and reputation. This is a good place for your companion animals to have their wellness care. Update 11/2020: Our cat went in for his annual checkup and one immunization. It is unsatisfying during this COVID time to take a pet to the vet; but I think PVWC did as good a job with it as is possible. I phoned in from my marked parking space to initiate the visit. The staff kept in careful touch with me by telephone about the status of the visit, proposed care plan, and so on. Our longtime vet had left the practice since our last visit, and I was not able to meet the new provider face to face, which is too bad. I am glad that they are observing careful protocols. Under these challenging circumstances, this was as good as it could have been.

I love the professional service at this clinic. All the doctors are professional, they tell it like it is, and do their very best within their capable hands to do what your pet needs. Sadly, some of the negative reviews on here have to do with price. If you have a pet, you need to be able to care for it correctly. Enough said. Unfortunately, due to Covid, I do miss the interaction with the vets directly but the office and clinic staff spend time with you, listen and deliver medication instructions without hurrying and are sure to answer all your questions. I highly recommend this office to anyone needing standard care for their pets.

Formerly known as Companion Pet Clinic (CPC), I was one of the many pet parents who transfered to this location after the bizarre and concerning events that unfolded at the CPC on 82nd Dr in Clackamas, which lead to it being shut down. It was extremely unfortunate that no one's pets' records were able to be recovered and transfered from the previous clinic, but it hasn't been a huge inconvenience. What made me pick CPC in the first place was their affordable services and the coupon to get a pet spayed or nuetered for $50. This is why I chose to stay with CPC, but other then a cheaper exam fee I'm learning that other services they offer are not more affordable and they don't offer any sort of payment plan which leads me to beleive that the clinic as a whole lacks the values and compassion that seems to also be missing from most vetinary related places. It's been suggested that I have my dog do a senior dog panel ANNUALY (which the blood & urine test alone is over $400 . And doesn't include two other tests that are $70 and $50). It took me years to be able to afford an xray for him (like $340) to figure out the cause of his heart murmur and see what's going on with his stomach. But nope! Xray of the stomach is an additional $340...😔 Yes, pets are exspensive, but I know there's more that a vetinary office can do if they wanted to make vet care more accessible (perfect example is Dove Lewis!) anyways, staff is friendly enough, but the mandatory curb-side service implemented due to the pandemic is a pain because each visit not every concern or need was addressed.

I’m still waiting on the biopsy but other than that I still don’t know what’s wrong with my dog.

We are from Seattle, and were down in Portland visiting our family. We ended up buying an 11 week old Shih-Tsu Chihuahua mix on our way down to Portland. Part of the purchase agreement was that the puppy needed to go to a vet within 3 days of purchase. I scheduled an appointment online not knowing that it was for a Drop off appointment. Upon realizing my mistake, and knowing that due to my puppys age, he needed to be isolated from other dogs, they immediately called me within 25 minutes of my scheduling, and changed my appointment to the proper type. Update: The office manager called, explained that if we cared about our pet we would want to spend the extra money on the blood work. I explained that the front desk just needs to explain the extra charge for older pets if that's their policy... And especially if the customer specifically asks about any extra charges for older pets. She told me they typically don't discuss prices over the phone... We ended up going to the companion pet clinic in Clackamas and the veterinarian there felt the extra charges were not called for either. The dog is perfectly healthy. Has regular dental cleaning. My wife called about getting our healthy dog in for a dental cleaning. They said that they're running a special for $319. My wife explained the age and breed of our dog and asked if that would change the price. (She's an older small dog) They said no only extractions would be extra. So my wife setup an appointment for blood work the next day to prep for the cleaning. When she got there they tried charging her $750 (Including $250 for blood work) because the dog is old! She explained she asked that on the phone and the doctor just shook their head in disbelief. Horrible bait and switch! Be weary of their charges. We got it done at a reputable clinic in Clackamas for half that price. Oh, and I forgot to add. They charged her $34.50 to tell her they're charging more than agreed on.

We started to visit the NE Portland Companion Pet location as a result of the Clackamas location's sudden closure. The closure of the Clackamas clinic with no access to records left me with in desperate need of diabetic supplies for my 12 year old dog. The staff of the clinic was very understanding and got us in quickly for an appointment. They have been incredibly accommodating through the whole transition process. Dr. Desonier is very thorough, reassuring and incredibly sweet to her patients - I only wish we had been going here sooner! The only cons are you need to make an appointment (as opposed to the format of the walk-ins only at the Clackamas location) and they are closed on weekends. I appreciate not only the great care here but the affordability.

I recently had to say goodbye to my best friend, a 17 year old Chihuahua named Philip, who was suffering from advanced congestive heart failure. When I noticed his breathing was becoming labored, I called PDX Wellness Center, who had seen Phil before, and they made room on a busy morning to see him immediately. Unfortunately, Phil didn’t respond to treatment and I had to make the painful decision to have him euthanized. As awful as the experience was, the staff at PDX Wellness Center made it much less painful than it could have been, and I would like to thank them for their consideration and kindness.

Our dog has recently been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and we have had to seek care from this clinic several times in the last couple of months, including several procedures, for her. They have gotten to know her very well and have always been kind to us when we come for care. Dr. Kelli Smith (no relation) has taken a lot time to explain our dog's condition to us and what she will need for care. She has also taken every opportunity to minimize our cost and to be as conservative as possible while still providing thorough care. We have previously brought our cats in for care as well and have gotten quality care for them for their needs which have mostly been for vaccines and other preventative care. Having taken our animals to their competitor down the street, I feel like they are much more interested in providing the animals with what they actually need instead of trying to get every buck they can out of us. I don't know what the other reviews are talking about, I haven't ever had any experience with them where I have felt like they have mistreated any of my pets in any way. I highly recommend them.

I came to Portland Veterinary Wellness Center as a new patient with one of my dogs who injured their paw due to fear and trying to escape from fireworks sounds in our neighborhood during the July 4th holiday. They had measures of safety in place due to COVID-19 where you would wait in your car upon arriving and call them to check in.
