Reviews of DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital
I cannot say enough good about everyone at Dove Lewis and about the wonderful care our sweet baby girl Meadow received. Had it not been for the treatment she received, Meadow most likely would not even be alive. Instead, she appears to be thriving, and is back to her happy energetic and playful self. Shortly after we got to Dove Lewis (following overnight at another emergency veterinary clinic and a 6 hour drive), we met Dr. McGuire, who immediately performed a 6-hour plasma transfusion on Meadow, who (at only 25 pounds) had ingested over 50 Advil. The ongoing care with Dr. McGuire as well as with Dr. Marshall and Dr. Loftin, and by all of the other staff (Adrien, Jennifer, and I greatly apologize to those of you whose names I do not know, including the staff out front) was above and beyond. It was a bitter-sweet experience, as, even though the situation was quite serious, Meadow also got treated to massages and was treated with such compassion that it was as though she was at a doggy spa : ) I am sure the individualized attention Meadow received in ICU expedited her healing and prevented her from needing a kidney transfusion, and at this point in time seems to have assuaged any permanent kidney, liver, gastrointestinal or central nervous system damage. She was so happy to be back home, and immediately grabbed all of her noisy toys and began running around the house (including on the top of the couch, where she is not normally allowed : ) And, her cat was so thrilled to have her home, too. My only regret is that Dove Lewis is not closer. I pray I never have a dire emergency such as this with any of my pets ever again, but I would definitely drive the 6 hours to Dove Lewis again if it was warranted and time permitted. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Dove Lewis. You are the best! I wish I was nearby and could bring Meadow in so that she could individually come up to and thank each of you in person, which I know she would do.
I've been taking my dog to DoveLewis' Specialty Department for the better part of two years now. Before, we were on a never ending cycle of sickness and flair ups followed by brief intermissions with other specialty hospitals. When I went to DoveLewis I found that the internal medicine staff was very attentive and actually takes the time to listen. For the passed two years of treatment, we've enjoyed longer bouts of wellness than before. I'm forever grateful for them and everything they have done for my dog. Thank you.
Had an emergency with our little puppy. Couldn’t stop the bleeding at home. This was the only clinic that was open during snow day! They took us in pretty fast too despite the lobby being full. The doctor was so sweet and calmed us down let us know that our little puppy was doing good and getting lots of attention. The whole process took about 5 hours. Whole staff is really nice and polite. Don’t wish for anyone to go through any difficulties with their furry family members, but if something does happen this is the place to GO! Thank you everyone for a great care!
The wait may be long…as some have commented…but they triage all pets and care for all pets.
They work tirelessly, sometimes dealing with anxious and sometimes rude people. Regardless, they come to work every day with the hope of making a difference and they do.
And they saved our pup’s life after he was struck by a man driving a pickup who never stopped. We rushed our pup to DoveLewis where he was in ICU for three days. We received updates from his wonderful doctors if there was a change in his condition, regardless of the hour.
I can’t say enough. Our Seb is doing just great just thanks to their stellar care. And we give throughout the year … as a thank you and to help ensure others received great care for their fur babies, regardless of their ability to pay.
So our grateful and heartfelt THANK YOU goes out to all those who work there. Our best to you all!
We had our first cardiologist appointment for our little cat at Dove Lewis and they exceeded our expectations. I was nervous about the noise because it is an emergency clinic, but the cardiology department is on a separate floor. Their waiting area was very quiet and calm. The front staff were awesome, they all seemed to be in a good mood. The assistant was attentive and made me feel at ease when she took our girl for her exam. Dr.Reynolds is amazing. She is knowledgeable, personable, and I felt like she really understood my concerns.
I honestly believe had my dog gone anywhere but Dove Lewis she would not have survived. After ingesting almost 4/5 times her lethal dose of medication, Dove monitored her diligently and gave her all the necessary life support to pull through. Thank you to everyone at Dove, from receptionist to assistants, techs, and doctors! I know even if Nike had not made it, DoveLewis would have done everything in their power to give her a fighting chance, and that in itself is priceless.
Thank you again for saving my pup! <3
I was referred to the ortho specialist at Dove lewis by my primary care vet. The experience was pivotal and enlightening. It turned out my German shepherd had a rare condition causing limited range of motion and the odd gait we were seeing. She did NOT need nor would she have been served by surgery procedures that our vet thought might be needed. Then while we were at Dove Lewis we were referred also to their neurologist because it seemed there was more than one thing going on for the dog revealed in the testing they did. 4 hours of excellent communication and diagnostic work revealed underlying conditions and best path medically to serve the dog going forward. it was some of the best money spent on diagnostics ! It saved us unnecessary surgeries and supported quality of life perimeters for my much loved pet.
The whole team from reception to checkout were fabulous. Animal forward friendly and so very very kind. It was an emotional time
and They could not have been more sensitive as well as informative. I am grateful to both the Orthopedic specialist and the neurologist in particular.
I am beyond grateful for the care and coordination at DoveLewis. I especially appreciated their calm and consistent communication. I felt confident that my cat was cared for and safe. They run an amazingly smooth operation! Thank You for taking such good care of Strong Fox! 😻 …
This is our little 8yr old girl Jinx, her Gallbladder ruptured over this past weekend. We brought her to Dove Lewis Emergency Hospital where they triaged her and told us that she would need emergency surgery. The triage vet explained all of the facts and prepared us for the best and the worst. She told us that they would notify us when they went into surgery and that we would get an update email after. We were terrified at the thought of losing our girl but were confident that she was in the best hands. The surgery lasted a few hours and they communicated with us just as they had said which was very helpful to calm our hearts and minds.
The next morning we had another email explaining her condition and what to expect for the next few days as she recovered. This communication took place daily, something we did not expect for such a busy vet hospital. We were so impressed by all of the staff with their genuine concern for our little girl as well as the condition of her parents.
She is now home after 4 days of intensive care, resting with her brother. They took the time to explain her after care needs and provided written instructions that were very clear.
We can't say enough great things about the Dove Lewis Veterinary Hospital, they saved her life and we are eternally grateful. Special thanks to: Dr. Forman, Dr. Herold, Dr. Tauber, Dr. McGuire, Dr. Hilfman, and Dr. Mense as well as all of the un named technicians who watched over her daily care.
I have come to dove many times. One when my kitten passed away in its sleep and I didn't know what to do with the body. They were so nice, their first thought was that I was hurt and jumped into action trying to help me. When they figured out what I was trying to tell them, they understood,And helped me from there. The quite room was very nice, and peaceful.
This week 9/8/22 I rescued my baby bearded dragon, I have to say the staff there is/was still amazing. The surgeon was willing to take pictures so I could see exactly why it's leg needed to be removed. This is a picture during the surgery. If your animal needs surgery you want her to do it. I could tell her and her medical assistant love what they are doing.
I will be going back for years to come.
I took my cat Bunnie-Lou here 3 years ago & was EXTREMELY greatful as they gave her great care & used the dove lewis fund to pay $700 for my cats leg infection & my cat is the most important thing in the world to me. She's at my hip 18/7 for the last 7 years & if something happened to her I seriously would lose my mind. I'd sell a kidney for her survival if I needed to. However my 1 negative was when I said that the wound occurred 24-34 hours ago & she said that wasn't possible. I told her the truth. The day prior my cat went outside around 4:00pm & didn't come home until 12:00am which was unusual. She came home with a limp & I took her in the next evening around 1:00am after I found somewhere that helps low income pet owners after taking her to 2 places prior. So 32 hours MAX. AND the vet also said it's not possible the wound happened by something outdoors because the cut was too fine & the accusatory way this was said to me during such a high stress & emotional time brought me to tears. So Did I like that particular veterinarian? Not really...but I try to give people benefit of the doubt & hope she was just looking out for my baby. Do I like the Dove Lewis animal hospital? DEFINITELY. I love them. Did I like the 2nd vet that removed her drain? Very much. Did I like the receptionist? Especially yes, she was so sweet. I owe them my life & would like to start donating to the fund anytime I can.
My sweet, perfect boy (Poe) came in Saturday night in extremely rough shape. Cost was a factor for me. The doctors and team did everything they could to keep cost down while making sure my boy was safe and cared for. He has since recovered and has the all-clear from our regular veterinarian. I just lost my other dog of 13 years 2 weeks ago, so I am forever grateful to the DLEAH team for saving my perfect man.
I had a terrible experience at another vets office the day before, bringing my pug to Dove Lewis. I was also grossly overcharged by the other vet. I was so upset when I walked in there doors. Only to be greeted by some of the nicest staff members I've ever met. Caring and kind. Truly genuine. They listened to everything I had to say without cutting me short. The were very thorough when asking me questions so they knew how to treat my dog. When the vet came to talk to me. She was the nicest most caring vet ever. She explained his serious condition to me in complete detail. She also made sure I had all the knowledge I needed to care for him at home. Dove Lewis is the best vet ive ever been to. Stacy montgomerie is the best vet. Who gets 5 out of 5 stars in my book. Dove Lewis does not see patients as a dollar sign. They don't over charge. They help people who in finally problems, to get there bills paid. On grants or sliding scales. Thank you to everyone at Dove Lewis. Give yourself a pat on the back. Mindy Quinn. And baby boy Colton Oregon
I don’t think I can ever thank Dove Lewis enough. I had brought my bunny in because he was feeling unwell, he unfortunately had a very low chance of survival and I had to make the hard choice to let him go. Of course this was very unexpected for me and extremely difficult.
Not once did they ever pressure me, rush me or acted like I was a bother. They were extremely kind, professional and compassionate throughout the whole experience. Losing a pet is already so difficult and they made it as easy as they possibly could. I feel forever indebted to them and just so so thankful for everything.
My dog remained in ICU a week following a deadly dog attack on her neck. The team took fantastic care of her and communicated with us often. They spoke in plain terms and were accommodative of us wanting to visit. It was clear my dog Cairo had established relationships with the staff when we checked her out.
Pets become part of a family very quickly! They become our best and truest friends! For this very reason, finding the right hospital when you need one is a huge blessing! Last week we needed one quickly and found DoveLewis!
Farrah went quickly from happy, excited about meal times to a quiet, not able to keep food down pup. It turned out to be very serious with surgery needed that day! The Docs and Staff at DoveLewis were amazing in every way. Our doctors kept us informed by email and phone every day. They did not sugar coat anything but stayed positive and assured us Farrah was getting the best care! This type of dedicated care helped us sleep at night and deal with the quietness in the house. Her surgery was successful and she is getting better every day THANKS TO DoveLewis!
I can't say enough about DoveLewis! My Miss Molly needed neck surgery for a herniated disc and absolutely everyone at DoveLewis accommodated her needs. We all are extremely happy! A big shout out to Dr. Sophie Petersen and Maeve East for not only helping Molly but assuring my husband and I that Molly was in good hands. We love DoveLewis!
The whole staff at Dove Lewis are so kind and supportive, everyone I spoke to made me feel so comfortable being there. I brought in my Chameleon Gecko and was so worried about his care because he's such a small lizard (only 5 grams!) But they did such an amazing job and I know he was in safe hands. Dr Flaminio was wonderful and so knowledgeable. I highly recommend Dove Lewis for reptile care. 🦎
We just got home after saying goodbye to our chicken, Thelma. This was our first time using Dove Lewis and we were so happy with the care we received. The staff made sure our Thelma was seen quickly. When it was determined that she likely had cancer, we knew that it was best for her to pass humanely. They had amazingly supportive staff who allowed us time in their comfort room with Thelma (who they wrapped in a blanket to see us). We received a hand written note and they were able to wave the cost of cremation and most of the euthanasia. We so appreciated the support even for our rather unusual love for our precious chicken.
Amazing care and service! This organization is exceptional and worth your time. The veterinarians are thorough, responsive, and communicative. I love the way they care for my dog. They helped me with extra medications when a flare up came back until I could get into my regular vet and that stop gap measure provided much relief to our family. I highly recommend Dove Lewis for any and all of your emergency pet needs. If it is urgent and not an emergency, go to the website and request an appointment. They will let you know when you can go in to lessen wait time. These folks are above amazing. Thank you for your amazing care for me and my dog!
Okay, so everything during this pandemic has been so much harder. Including getting proper animal care, and especially emergency care. When my regular vet wasn't accepting appointments for months the Dove Lewis team got my sick kitten in, tested and treated within hours. The team was very kind, and prompt as could be given the challenges the industry is facing. The online system to check in was user friendly and the environment was very clean. I got detailed care instructions for my kitten and even helpful tips on administering medicine, warning symptoms and next steps. Pets are family, and I was so comforted by the urgent care he received.
Sorry to see so many low ratings for this clinic. My experience comes from making the difficult decision to euthanize my dog. He was a 15 year old pug who was sick with lymphoma. The last few days of his life were hard for him and I knew it was time. The staff at Dove Lewis were amazing! The vet tech on the first phone call I made was understanding and kind. I called ahead of time to let them know I was coming in with my doggo for compassionate euthanasia and when we arrived today they had a room ready for us. The gal at the front desk was sweet, sympathetic, and did her best to make me feel welcome, despite knowing I was unable to pay for the euthanasia services—I just lost my job after being in a car wreck and money is tight. The hospital covered the entire cost without me having to do anything more than simply ask for financial assistance. Once the time came, the vet took her time and was reassuring that it was, indeed, my dog’s time to go. I am so very appreciative of every staff member at Dove Lewis. Thank you for making this difficult day as pleasant and peaceful as possible!!
DoveLewis saved our cat’s life. He had a gallstone lodged between his gallbladder and small intestine. His gallbladder would have ruptured and he would have died without emergency surgery. The doctors and staff at DoveLewis quickly determined what was wrong with him. Everyone at DoveLewis was kind and supportive and kept us informed during the entire process. They even sent us photos of him in the ICU.
Let me start off by saying something that I feel like a lot of people need to hear.
The hard fact is that we all believe our pet is the most important. It is a hard reality to have to wait, for any amount of time, for our pets to be seen because our pet is our baby. We want what’s best for them and we want them taken care of immediately.
DoveLewis is a hospital to animals like a normal ER is to humans. If you’re bringing your pet here, usually it’s because there is something very wrong. They take all the information you give them and determine the most immediate care needed, in order. It doesn’t matter what time you get there. Even if the person next to you just showed up after you’ve been there for 3 hours. If their needs are more urgent than yours, they will go first.
With saying that, I understand this process. There aren’t enough Vets and there are more pets now than ever due to covid and more people being home and having more pets.
DoveLewis absolutely saved my baby girl, Toad. She had surgery that ended up with 4 extractions at her normal vet. The next day I noticed her head was crackling and felt strange. Later I noticed her whole body was like a balloon.
I tried calling several hospitals all around the state and everyone was at full capacity. Called my regular vet back and they took her in when no one else could. They helped for 3 days, but ultimately didn’t have the tools and referred me to DoveLewis.
Toad ended up having subcutaneous emphysema. There was a possible tear in her trachea that was leaking air under her skin. This is very uncommon and most places don’t have the means to handle something of this level.
DoveLewis is 1 of 40 vet hospitals in the US that could help her, and they did! Not only were they extremely communicative by giving me updates 3 times a day, they sent me a photo of her every day in an email so I could see her since we can’t visit them.
They treated her with the best care, didn’t try to do anything extra and made sure she was comfortable. I was a wreck from worrying about Toad, but they put me at ease and I felt as comfortable as I possibly could in this situation.
I am so thankful to my regular vet for referring us, but also extremely thankful for DoveLewis. Thank you for everything your team does. Toad is home now, with a long road still to travel. We are on the right path though.
I would recommend them and would absolutely come back if we needed to.
Lots of love from us. 💜
My dog wasn't feeling well and couldn't tell me what was wrong. I knew she needed help, just as I needed help knowing the right thing to do for her. The wonderful staff at DoveLewis made us feel comfortable and appreciated as they spent time evaluating my pup. Once they had an idea of what the issues were, they offered a range of diagnostic and treatment options, explaining the benefits and expenses of each. Together we were able to decide to keep my old girl comfortable and happy for as long as possible, without invasive procedures. I wanted to know what the problem was and how to treat it. Dove Lewis gave me exactly that information to allow me to take the best care of my buddy possible. Thank you!
The Dove Lewis staff are some of the most patient, hardworking people I’ve ever encountered. This is not an easy job and dealing with people on some of their worst days, with emotions running high reflects an expert level of customer service (and a job I could never do/ would not wish on anyone.) The kindness, care, professionalism and empathy went a long way. Free snacks, bottled water and coffee was very appreciated.
I wish there was a better system but this is emergency vet service. I was in the office for 9 hours today and that seems like what you need to expect going in, particularly on a holiday weekend. I do think there could have been more transparent communication of how long I should expect to wait, especially after I had seen the doctor, but that’s also just the nature of triage. It just depends on who else is there. I felt lucky that we weren’t among those who were seen sooner, there were some sad pets there today.
Thank you Dove Lewis, you guys are angels and the work you do is so vital 🙏
Here’s my tip- if you have already checked your pet in and know you have a wait, walk across the street to the dog friendly bar Lucky Lab. Get a slice of pizza and a beer, it really helped.
We brought our pup in for excessive lethargy, drooling, and dry heaving after she had some mis-adventures in the snow. We had to wait a couple hours for her to be seen, but once they did an initial assessment in the waiting room they rushed her back and made sure that she wasn’t critically ill. The vet who saw her, Josh, explained what he thought could be her issues in a really accessible and clear way, and made sure that she was well taken care of and that all the appropriate tests and x-rays were ordered. We were really really pleased with our experience, despite the lower than normal staffing due to concerns about the roads. Our dog really doesn’t like going to her normal vet, but I think she was happy to have someone take care of her and figure out what was going on. When we picked her up, she wanted to go and get scratches from anyone who would pet her before we took her home. Really thankful our girl had such a positive experience.
Our visit to Dove Lewis took time. Don’t expect to go and be seen immediately. Animals with acute problems are seen first. That being said, this is a kind and very caring place. Everyone was helpful, clear about what to expect and so kind and gentle with our sick dog. We saw many animals, mostly dogs and cats the evening we were there, but Dove Lewis also gives kind triage care to homeless animals, wild things, and those animals who need care the most. I think Portland should be proud to have this level care for our furry friends. Just bring your patience.
Dovelewis is the best vet I’ve ever been to. They are compassionate and understanding, and they will fight hard for your dog. Unfortunately I’ve lost one dog in their care, but i can assure you they did everything in their power to save her. I recently took a puppy in who had eaten some sharp plastic, and they were so wonderful to us and her. I can’t recommend them enough.
There is a reason their wait times are so long. They are one of the only emergency vets in the state with the highest levels of critical care certifications.I’ve been back to their ICU and it is truly state of the art.
Every vet i ever interacted with has been truly wonderful.
Hope i never need to go back but can’t thank these people enough
For the second time this year, I had to take my 9-year old cat Sam to Dove Lewis. Each time he was a guest of ICU and each visit I was so impressed by the front desk staff and the veterinarians and and vet techs. Great communication (even a pic of Sam with each morning and evening email update.) Clear and concise reporting and direction. I observed such graciousness and understanding for all those pet owners (and their pets) waiting in the lobby as well. Amazing place!
Dove Lewis was my first choice when our regular vet said my older pup needed surgery. I've been taking my pet emergencies to Dove Lewis for more than 20 years; their new facility is top of the line, the staff friendly and professional. They weren't phased by Eddie's lack of good training and did everything they could to make him comfortable during his stay. The procedures and costs were explained in advance, and best of all, my good boy came home.
I wanted to give a huge kudos to all of the staff at Dove Lewis, and, specifically, Jordyn and Dr. Reyes. I brought in my very spicy cat, Thor, today after he had been sick for about a week, completely lost his voice, and had started to lose weight. Even though he was a challenging patient, they were comforting, kind and truly wanted to find what was going on.
We opted for more intensive diagnostics which meant my goodest boi had to be sedated. They held him for a bit to make sure that he was coming around. We got home and he has already shown improvement from the extra fluids he was given.
Our fur babies are our babies and I cannot thank you enough for the love you showed us both today. You are all incredible! <3
Edited: Thor was diagnosed with pancreatitis and given additional anti-nausea medication. Today, we picked up a refill as he has been doing so well! He has been cuddling, running and playing again (although still no voice) and will see his primary for follow up care in a couple of weeks.
These incredible people saved my Thor-cat and I'm so incredibly thankful they were able to see him. YOU ALL ROCK!
Our Yorker, Poppy, had blood in her urine and difficulty peeing. Viking Vet was great and found bladder stones but we're unable to do surgery and sent us to Dove Lewis. EVERY encounter with staff was amazing! They were friendly, efficient and caring. A STAT call from the front desk brought staff out immediately to assess the pet. I was there for over 10 hours and saw this time and again! I was very impressed. Poppy's surgery went well. Written discharge instructions were also helpful. We are so lucky to have this caliber of care and expertise in our area for our furry family members! These folks are very dedicated! In gratitude, Sherry and Poppy
Monday night our 12 week old Chocolate Lab “Loki” started vomiting every 10 minutes non stop. We thought maybe he swallowed a small part of a stick or something. We called Dove Lewis and was told to bring him in immediately. Upon arriving Aide was so warm and caring. She put us in a private room because he hasn’t went through all of his shots. He was seen right away by a vet technician to make sure that he could at least breathe. Unfortunately we did have to wait another 8 hours before we were seen again. Although it was frustrating we could see and here that this was one of there busiest nights of the year. That said everyone was nice and professional in the face of major stress. Dr. Earl was awesome. Very informative and direct. She and Birdie stayed in communication throughout the day and kept me from losing my mind. In the end Dr. Earl and her team removed a 11 inch stick from our 12 week old puppy. How he managed such a large stick is a mystery. The fact that they got it out without damaging our dog was amazing. My puppy would not be here if not for Dove Lewis and Dr. Earl. Thank you so much for getting Loki back to us safe. We would recommend Dove Lewis to anyone.
DoveLewis took such good care of my older dog when he had to stay in the ICU for an unknown illness. They cared for him as if he was their own and updated me twice daily during his entire stay. They kept me well informed of his recovery and talked me through all the treatment options. They let me visit whenever I wanted once he was starting to feel a little better. I’m so grateful for how well they cared for him and how communicative they were.
Had the unfortunate experience of utilizing Dove Lewis' emergency services twice recently. On both occasions, contact with each person was positive from the initial call to the intake desk to the doctors and techs who provided stellar care. I found that the conversations with staff to be non-rushed, comforting, but still very clear on next steps. In one case, the DVM went over and above to find another facility that could conduct an MRI that was needed right away. It was the difference my dog needed to get that fighting chance ... and my dog is making a steady recovery!
Our 1.5 year old, holland lop buck Bean had gi stasis and the wonderful folks at Dove Lewis helped him get back on track very quickly. Due to the staffing shortages it took a while to be seen and Bean began to worsen but once he was admitted he improved rapidly. We were pretty scared he would pass away and we are so grateful to your staff for helping him.
The 2nd and 3rd pics are within hours of him being home with his bonded sister Eevee, both comfortable and relieved to be back together. Thank you thank you thank you Dove Lewis staff.
My dog Cleopatra was attacked by another dog. I brought her in. And everyone was so kind and compassionate. I felt safe with her in their hands. I was able to pick her up this morning. I applied for a few funding programs to help with the cost. Not sure what to expect. I was approved and feel very blessed! Thank you so much for all you're help! I appreciate you all!!!
They helped save our beloved dog after major tumor removal on her liver at the Veterinary Cancer Surgery Center. She literally almost died during surgery and after. She needed to be taken to DoveLewis for an emergency lifesaving whole blood transfusion. They kept her for two nights and because she was so near death, I owe them a million thanks for the 24 hour outstanding care she received. Whenever any of our pets have to go to DoveLewis for tests or emergency services, I never have to worry when they are in their care.
Thank you DoveLewis from the bottom of my heart for saving our dear Mittens. She thanks you as well! Hugs to everyone!
We love Dove Lewis. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the vet techs, to the doctor were easy to talk with and compassionate. Our pups are very afraid of the vet, but they needed follow up for chronic conditions including blood work. The staff didn’t traumatize the dogs by forcing things. Although it meant light sedation and a trip back to the vet, we were able to get what we needed (blood) with positive outcomes for all. Thank you for being extra careful with our fur babies.
There is a neighborhood cat that some of us share the care of.
This cat was at my house all night and all day and was acting very lethargic and weak.
He hadn't eaten or urinated in almost 16 hours as far as I could calculate. I was very concerned he had a UTI or was blocked.
I had my brother drive me to Dove Lewis as all the veterinary offices were either booked full or closed. The waiting room was packed with dogs, cats, and people. I was expecting to be there for several hours before seeing anyone but I was probably there about an hour and a half when a triage tech came out and took my cat into the back. She came back around 30 minutes later and told me that my cat was fine as far as she could tell. She said there was no urine in his bladder which mystified me because he had not peed in the house (so he must have gotten out the door and gotten back inside somehow) but anyway it was quite a relief to know that he was okay. The tech was very sweet and patient while she explained the exam she did on him. I am sure she was exhausted with how busy they are. I definitely appreciated her kindness and her thoroughness in the cat exam and her explanation to me.
I love Dove Lewis. I miss them being on the Southeast side of town. I was a frequent visitor when they were over here and they are truly missed.
My 16 year old rescue dog got into some trouble when he found a bag of old wine corks at a friend's house and helped himself to a few. I hoped he'd pass them one way or another but, after a couple of days, he was still throwing up bits of cork and some of the bits were pretty large. My regular vet recommended I take Miki to the ER. Dove Lewis is where I've taken Miki when he got in trouble before and so we went back to see if they could help him. We interacted with several vet techs, volunteers and veterinarians while we were there. Everyone was communicative and clear about what to expect. After an X-ray, I was told that Miki would need surgery since the corks were not moving through his system. At 16 years old, surgery was a concern and they ran some blood tests before hand to make sure he was resilient enough to perform surgery on. I got a text as they were prepping him for the operating table and a call after they completed. All of my questions were answered and they updated me over night as to how he was recovering. He was able to eat a little food in the morning and was showing no signs of complications so Miki was released to me the next afternoon, with detailed instructions on his care. I felt that Miki and I were very well cared for and communicated with during our adventure. Thanks so much everyone at Dove Lewis for all you do for Portland's animals.
DoveLewis has taken care of my dog twice this month-- the process of intake, waiting for her treatment, speaking with a doctor, and having my dog released back took about 3 hours. Knowing that the waiting room is in flux with different levels of care and emergency, some people are brought in and processed out quickly, others may need more intensive care.
They are able to answer your questions or move you along appropriately if you ask nicely. Much appreciated for taking care of us.
I had a really positive experience at Dove Lewis. I called them extremely stressed out in the middle of the night to see if they knew of a 24 hour emergency exotic vet I could take my hamster to and I was so relieved when they told me they treat hamsters and to bring her in. All the staff I met were super friendly and helpful. They held her overnight for a few hours free of charge until the exotic pet doctor could see her in the morning and the doctor called me right at the time I was told to expect a call. The doctor was so incredibly kind and told me all of my options. Unfortunately I did end up having to say goodbye to my sweet hamster, and all the staff members were super respectful of my grieving and walking me through the next steps and letting me spend as much time as I needed saying goodbye. They even sent me home with a handwritten card and her paw prints which was incredibly sweet. Overall I really appreciate the staff and their care and for continuing to stay open despite all the overcrowding and economic hardship I’m sure all similar businesses have faced during this time. I would definitely take all future pets here.
Dove Lewis staff is so kind and helpful. Unlike other Vet hospitals, Dove Lewis values you and your pet being happy over making a profit. There is financial assistance and payment plans available for people who qualify for assistance. Dove Lewis is also very thoughtful when it comes to "putting your pet to sleep". They have many options and will ask what you are wanting to do. If you are having a pet emergency, you can call ahead to speak with the Vet Triage team and they can give you some advice over the phone. Emergency clinic is 24/7, 365 days a year.
We’ve been to Dove Lewis with our cat three different times and everyone there has treated us kindly and provided high quality care for our pet. They triage quickly, make sure he is stable, keep us informed of his progress, and give ample information and time to ask questions. We are so grateful to have top notch emergency care where we can really trust our furry family member is getting the absolute best treatment from the best people.
My 7 week old mini bull terrier got a hold of some children’s Tylenol and the staff at dove Lewis were great and within a few hours my little guy was as good as new. They gave him special attention (probably because he’s so darn cute!) and that made the experience more positive. The costs were minimal which made it possible to get the care we needed. Thanks everybody!
This place is terrific. The doctor we saw was excellent, and triage team/ support staff were totally on the ball. They’re a not-for-profit, so their fees are very reasonable, and, as I recall, no animal is turned away for lack of funds. How wonderful is that?
Doc went over a treatment plan with me, explained all possible outcomes, treated the dog, and all turned out well. (My husband is a human lung specialist, and he completely approved of the treatment our pup got for his breathing problem, so that was reassuring.)
They were so kind and responsive, I wish they could be our regular vets.
My dog had a lump on his leg. Urgent care was able to get him in the next day. They were kind and caring. Turned out to be cancer. Was able to get a consult with surgery 2 days later and they did the surgery that day! Absolutely caring, compassionate and skilled in their fields! Thank you so much Dr. McKinney, Dr. Sundholm, Moth, Taylor, Caleb and all the other techs that helped along the way!
Our dog Ozzy started sneezing and shaking his head violently one evening. The next morning on a Saturday, it was worse. We were worried that he had a grass foxtail or something similar lodged in is nose and, eventually, that proved to be the case. Knowing that these things can progress into a life threatening situation, we called Ozzy's vet and three nearby emergency vet clinics and they were unable to see him because he wasn't in immediate danger and they were overbooked. We took him to Dove Lewis and they agreed to examine and treat him but they were extremely busy with other pets in more urgent need of care. All of the staff we interacted with were professional and patient and kind. We watched their interactions with other worried and stressed out pet parents and were very impressed by how they handled delicate situations. After waiting in the lobby for about 3 hours they said they would keep Ozzy and let us go home and not wait there for 8+ hours until things settled down enough that he could be evaluated and treated. We were very grateful for this and entrusted him to their care. Later that night, they did a preliminary exam and called to tell us about our options. It was probably going to be in the wee hours of the morning before the vet could actually treat him and we agreed to leave him there. The vet called a few hours later to say that they had sedated Ozzy and removed a grass "awn" from his nose as we suspected. We are very grateful to Dove Lewis for helping us manage this situation and taking care of our beloved Ozzy boy!
I’ve been to Dove Lewis three times now with my dog. He and I have had a rough go the past couple years with emergency vet visits, but I’m confident that when these things happen Dove Lewis is the place to turn to. The staff clearly cares deeply for animals and have always treated me with respect. The wait times can be long due to a high volume of need in the community, but I don’t want a quick fix for animals in need-I want quality of care. I know my dog has received the very best in care from them, I’m grateful he’s still with me thanks to their efforts.
We had to take our tortoise in for urgent care and they were really great. The wait was super long but I saw so many people come in with sick and injured animals I’m not surprised it was a long wait.
The staff was really incredible under pressure and seemed like they really cared about our pet. The front desk was also very compassionate with us and everyone else I saw come in that night. It definitely didn’t look like their jobs were easy.
There’s a national shortage of veterinary care professionals right now so it’s really hard to get in anywhere. I’m thankful for Dove Lewis.
I called last night very worried.about my 7 lb dog that had been vomiting for 2 days but still drinking and peeing. I wanted to.know if it was safe to wait until Monday to take him to his regular vet. I was lucky to get Carrie. She listened to my whole story and all of my concerns. She reassured me that he would be fine for another day, told me what I should watch for and how to care for him. I know she probably hears the same stories over and over again from anxious dog parents. Despite that, I felt that she was concerned about my fur baby and devoted to giving me the information I needed in a caring manner.
Our dog was critically ill and our normal vet called DoveLewis and arraigned for her to be seen. Immediately they triaged her to the back. This happened the Friday afternoon before the 4th of July when most vets would be closed over the holiday.
Not surprising, the place was full of pets waiting to be seen. I expected that it would be a long wait to talk to the doc. What I didn’t expect was how quickly, competently, and compassionately they would handle case after case of animals coming in. Dogs, cats, wild birds, rats and snakes were coming and going. As a retired nurse, it was nice to see how well the team worked. If your pet is unstable they will be undoubtedly be seen first. Since the hospital was straining to get every pet seen appropriately, they did tell owners with pets that were stable they could continue to wait ( and it would be a long wait) or they could schedule an appointment for another time.
All of the vets we dealt with were not only competent, but gave a great summary of what was going on, a plan to treat, a path forward and what markers that would indicate that our dog was not likely to survive. Our dog discharged today and is surprising us with how tough she is and her drive to recover, a chance that she likely wouldn’t have without the team at DoveLewis.
They do give estimates as to what they think the cost may be. Emergency care is expensive. In hindsight, pet insurance would have been smart. While they do have assistance programs, I don’t know the details.
Be patient, the staff are trying their hardest:)
Our two year old dog had a severe reaction to a bee sting. We were so grateful for the care he received at Dove Lewis. They were very busy that night (I think they’re busy most all the time), but they communicated with us as we waited in the waiting room. Each staff member was professional, compassionate, caring, and adept at treating Duncan’s symptoms. We highly recommend Dove Lewis if you need urgent care for your pet.
We are so lucky to have an emergency vet clinic of this caliber, with the incredibly trained professionals who work there. Our 11 year old dog ate a corncob and had to have emergency surgery at DoveLewis to remove the blockage. She is totally back to normal and bossing us around thanks to the level of expertise and caring she had. Thanks so much!
I called Dove Lewis after our dog took a turn for the worse and I knew he wouldn’t make it until tomorrow. I explained to them what was going on and the fact that he was in a tremendous amount of pain. They said to bring him in. My husband took him in. After triaging him, they took him back to give him an IV and pain meds. My husband was taken in to a room to wait. After a short wait our dog was brought in along with the vet. My husband explained to the vet that his decline was sudden and that we just wanted to make sure we were doing the right thing by having him euthanized. The vet told him he felt we were making the best decision for our dog. That his comfort was the main priority and at this point the most humane thing to do was to euthanize. The staff from the very beginning person on the phone, to the last person being the vet were all kind and compassionate. I’m am grateful to have such an amazing emergency pet hospital in the area. If we ever need emergency services again, we won’t hesitate to go to Dove Lewis.
My rabbit’s nose was de-gloved by the fence, which I fixed buy adding small wooden boarder fence to the bottom. Dove Lewis was the only emergency doctors office that would work on rabbits, so we drove 1 hour to Portland. They were packed, but things were moving as fast as they could be. Patients being seen on severity of the problem with the pets. So some people were there for a long time. Others would be admitted straight away! A doctor came out and got our rabbit because he could imagine that his nose being ripped off probably hurt really bad. So they gave him pain medication and kept him overnight to wait for his turn in line. A doctor called me in the morning and described what the problem was and got to fixing it right away. She did a FANTASTIC JOB STITCHING his face back together!!! I can’t thank them enough! I would recommend Dove Lewis For taking exotic pets for their emergency needs! His fur is still growing back and I imagine it may not even be noticeable later on. Thank you Dove Lewis!
Awesome care for my kitty girl. Got her checked in and she was seen in about 5 minutes. I knew she was not comfortable. Staff was very attentive and caring and made everything as peaceful as possible. It was not the scenario I had hoped for, but they gave me the time to make choices and spend time with my Opal. Significantly lower costs than anticipated. Highly recommend.
I was amazed by the level of care that my dog received following an emergency. The staff were kind and professional, and the veterinarians helped to save my dog's life. I was especially impressed how understanding the vets were of my emotional experience of having a hurt animal and navigating the emergency. After I brought my dog home, they were communicative and prompt, and answered all my questions. I'm so grateful that this is my local emergency vet.
I raise Boston Terriers. One of my females delivered 6 pups and the 7th was stuck. Therefore requiring an emergency C-section on 4th of July weekend. I called many emergency vet clinics to no avail. Also called Dove Lewis who was willing to accommodate me and my dog. They were very courteous, cared for our needs as quickly as possible. Dove Lewis treats many emergent situations and must triage accordingly. So please be patient and courteous no matter how long it takes them to get to your case, as there are more eminent cases ahead of you.
For my case, the dog was not in any kind of stress, so yes the wait was longer. The vet techs and veterinarian, as well as the surgical crew were very kind and professional, carefully explained everything. We did loose the last 2 pups which was expected. Momma and her 6 other pups are doing great. So if you are looking for good emergency care, then Dove Lewis is the place to go!!
Having chosen to bring our dog to Dove Lewis was the smartest move we made. Since November 13th we have been bringing Emma in for rechecks and wound dressing changes. The emergency department was awesome in not only treating Emma but also so kind to the pet parents. We had the opportunity, while waiting, to observe the staff talking to pet parents and they were very kind and respectful. Bringing Emma in to the Urgent Care has been awesome also. The office staff, doctors, and vet techs have all been wonderful. To me having a sense of humor is important and thankfully they all do. We are grateful for everyone's genuine caring. Thank you!!!!
Jordan and Dr. Gorman were so caring with Archie and with me too. Dr. Gorman did such a thorough exam that she found issues other vets had not. Everything was explained to me and all my questions were answered. I brought Archie home with a clear treatment plan and I couldn't be happier.
Last night was by far the worst night of my life. I had to say goodbye to my cat precious that I’ve had since I was 10. I had her for an amazing 13 years but it still wasn’t enough. The staff there was so understanding and reassuring and Carlos was so great he really made things a lot easier and was so great when helping us. The team that helped us was great. Thank you so much for your kindness and reassurance.
A few months ago, we had a scare with our very-recently-adopted kitty Selena -- she managed to break a snowglobe, and we were worried she'd ingested the toxic chemicals inside. After calling several local clinics and Pet Poison Control, it was determined that Dove Lewis was the only local hospital with appropriate resources for her.
She was kept for observation for most of the day with no symptoms, but threw up around 5 PM. At that point, the vet staff immediately got in contact with us. They were very quick about putting together a blood sample to bring to an external lab (the test was too specific to run on-site), and they kept us updated on her lab results and demeanor throughout the process.
Her test thankfully came back negative, although we'd started treatment just in case. Since the treatment made her pretty lethargic, they kept her overnight to monitor her for complications. I received a very kind email early the next morning with photos of Selena and a note about how sweet she is. (And she is! She's one of the sweetest cats I've ever met.)
The staff was incredibly helpful and nonjudgmental during this enormously stressful ordeal, which was very nice since I felt like the worst pet parent in the world. We'd spent about a week kitty-proofing our apartment before bringing Selena home... alas, the snowglobe missed our attention.
I mentioned that payment might be a strain for us early on. While Dove Lewis didn't have in-house payment plans, they did suggest some third-party providers who might be able to help. They also gave us an ongoing estimate of the cost of Selena's care and made sure we consented to the treatment. When I needed to give them payment information overnight, they were very accommodating about accepting a call back when I didn't yet have the info.
I definitely consider this a five-star experience and I'm very grateful for everything the Dove Lewis staff did for us.
As for negatives... None of these things are a reflection of the staff or the hospital itself, but keep in mind:
-It's an emergency hospital, and the veterinary profession is overburdened right now. If you CAN use a different local clinic, I'd recommend that, simply because Dove Lewis deals with a lot of pets who can't get care at another clinic. It's busy.
-You can expect typical emergency room triage; if your pet isn't in acute distress, the wait time can be long. The staff may board your pet while waiting for a doctor to be available, which can sometimes take up to 24 hours (or at least, that was the case during our situation, I'm sure this varies by the day). More serious conditions are addressed sooner.
-I wasn't able to be in the exam room with Selena; I'm not sure whether this is standard policy or whether it's a COVID precaution. Either way, if your pet gets nervous without you there, I'd let the staff know ASAP so they can make sure your pet is as comfortable as possible.
-As mentioned, there's not in-house financial aid, and costs can get pricey. But things like pet insurance and a Care Credit card can preemptively lessen the strain.
Hopefully this review is helpful, and once again thanks to the Dove Lewis staff!
Originally, I had been waiting in line at another emergency vet clinic. I waited over 20 hours at the other clinic. I was frustrated and worried about my dog. I called in at Dove, willing to drive extra or do anything to receive any services. The receptionist and tect were wonderful. I was easily put on the wait. I arrived at Dove where the great services continued. I was in and out on a Sunday within two hours (the wait time will differ based on your baby’s needs). My dog had an infected tick bite. The staff truly cares about your pup and not about just prescribing meds for $$. My dog was treated better at this clinic than me at my own doctor😂 I expected a 300-500 bill and was not charged anywhere near that. I will be going here for any emergency services in the future considering all the staff was wonderful and very assuring my pup would receive the best services. Thank you for being amazing.
I was so incredibly impressed with DoveLewis. On December 24, Christmas Eve, my cat’s health took a turn for the worse. She was extremely lethargic, not eating, not drinking, with some extreme diarrhea. Despite the facility being packed, the team responded with urgency and compassion. She had to be admitted for multiple nights in the hospital as the care team worked to diagnose her issues. Every step of the way, even though they had so many animals to care for, they communicated constantly, answered all my questions, and never made me feel like anything but a priority. These people are angels - they care for our pets but also the humans who come in who are often just as distressed (I know I was). Special thanks to Dr. Sprague and Fernando - both of them really helped us a lot - but everyone from the front desk staff to the vet techs to the numerous doctors were incredible.
My buddy Otto was showing symptoms of possible heart problems and needed to see a cardiology expert. Vet Tech Nikki and Dr. Caryn Reynolds were wonderful in communicating the process and very thorough in explaining the results of the EKG and x-rays. They provided great details on the condition of his heart murmur and took time to layout what treatment options would help Otto feel better and live a good life. There is relief in knowing what's ailing your pet even if it is not the best news. I left with a good plan, some targeted medication and a scheduled follow up visit to check in and adjust if necessary. Thanks.
Our 1 1/2 yr old dog decided to chew and eat her toy, she had intestine blockage and Dove Lewis was on top of our dogs medical emergency! Always professional and up front with everything! We are very grateful they were able to take us in when lots of emergency vets are over their capacity these days ❤️❤️
At 2am on July 4th I drove my sick Labrador two hours to Portland for care. I decided to go to Dove Lewis because I'd heard such good things about it. My sick dog was quickly put into a private room. A tech came in to talk to me about what exactly was going on and said she would be relaying this info to the vet. At one point my dog was getting into trouble and I stepped into the front desk area and said she needed help and they quickly got another tech in the room. Shortly thereafter the vet arrived. She was kind, thorough, reassuring and a calming presence. She took my dog into the back and I went out into the waiting room which was beginning to fill. I couldn't believe how many sick and injured animals were brought in along with strays and even a police officer brought in a cat and handed it over to the staff. These animals waiting to be seen were not your common cold. What I learned from owners made it clear that serious issues were in need of care. And another thing....there were poor people there. Clearly unable to provide the kind of resources one usually needs to pay for such a visit. They were clearly deeply caring about their pets and the staff treated them with respect and compassion. While we waited for our animals someone would come through the waiting room making sure who belonged to which animal then would go find out how each animal was doing and reported back to the owner. I've been to many a veterinary emergency hospitals and too often found them to be less than charitable requiring your credit card, deed to your home and first born child before they will see your animal. Very off putting. At Dove Lewis no one asked me to pay up front. When my girl was discharged I was given a bill and paid it then.
In the future if I have an animal in distress but have the time to get to Dove Lewis that's where I will be going. They are deserving of our support, encouragement and gratitude. Good work Dove Lewis!
I will forever be grateful for the care my Louie received from all the staff at DoveLewis. We were transferred from Tanasbourne and into their ICU in a hurry. We were desperate to get him well and he just wasn’t responding to treatment at the last hospital…they had tried everything; and said DoveLewis was his best chance and to go now!! They were right! DoveLewis served us with such quickness to stabilize Louie and get him comfortable. They were so attentive with him, and patient with me and my many tears in their private rooms and anxious phone calls seeking updates. The doctors assured me to keep fighting, and although they didn’t have the answers, they ran so many tests and scans to rule out a hefty list of possibilities as to why he became so sick. They never gave up on him. The expertise and knowledge the doctors and nurses had made all the difference in Louie’s care and I would trust them time and time again. I believe that DoveLewis saved my baby’s life and in return they also saved me.
I brought my puppy in after she fought a raccoon. They had several critical emergencies come in so the wait was long. Staff did the best they could to keep me updated and checked in frequently to see if anything changed with her.
They checked her and said her leg was likely broken. They let me go home and wait for her to be examined as we had been there overnight.
They called before doing anything (X-rays and sedation were needed).
They recommended surgery but acknowledged they wouldn’t be able to do it in time. They helped me find one.
This was a terrifying moment and experience but the staff here made it bearable.
If I could give 100 stars I would! I have 3 small rescue dogs and over the years each of them have had to go to DoveLewis for a variety of reasons. The staff is TOP NOTCH - so kind, genuine and caring - I can't say enough truly about this hospital - they take the most perfect care. The BEST!!!!
Excellent care for my parti toy poodle. The entire staff is well educated in there performance and responsibility. And always caring and understanding at how much our little animals mean to us. Thank you Dove Lewis , the doctors and staff. Amazing Dove also takes appointments for other surgical needs and prep for other surgery.
The staff at DoveLewis far exceeded my expectations. The front desk staff were calm, compassionate and helpful, even in the face or emergent situations late at night. Every staff person went above and beyond with care provided which I witnessed towards various pet’s throughout our waiting period. They saved my pup and I am eternally grateful. Thank you, DoveLewis!
I felt well cared for after losing the life of my kittens. They had an extremely nasty virus that took their life's one by one. They always spoke to me with kindness and respect. They were packed with patients and most likely understaffed. Yet one sweet young lady from the front desk took the time to finish up my paperwork with me. She was kind and soft spoken. When we were done she handed me a journal for helping with my loss. Not once did I feel rushed or put off by any employee. Wait times are sometimes ridiculous. What do you expect? Just do some research and you'll find everyone is backed up.
Can’t say enough good things about Dove Lewis…the people who work there are some of the hardest working, most compassionate, and professional I have seen. It can take a while to get in for pets who are not emergency cases, so be prepared to wait. But in the midst of all the heartbreaking cases you see coming in, you might be lucky enough to witness what I did…a pet parent who on her way out paid the bill for another whose old dog was dying…and another instance where someone brought in a lost dog and before I left the staff had found and reunited the dog with its family!
I was a little unsure about going here because of some of the reviews, but I am very glad I did.
Yes, there is a long wait. They get your pet stable pretty quickly but have to prioritize animals that are in more danger than others, so expect to be here upwards of four hours if it is busy. BUT, if you have exotics (like rabbits) you can schedule an emergency appointment and then there is basically no wait time.
The pricing was good, not crazy expensive. I didn't feel pressured or guilt tripped into paying for something more expensive, and the vet considered all options with me, including more homeopathic ones. I am so, so grateful I didn't leave feeling like a bad owner because of the vet decisions I made.
They did a great job with treating my pet (my rabbit's face needed to get lanced) and were very clear on post treatment instructions.
On a final note, the vet tech that checked my out was a GEM. So friendly, her jokes put me at ease, I only wish I had gotten her name down.
Love, love, love Dove Lewis and very grateful.
Note: parking is limited
I've used DoveLewis's services in the past, and I can't think of a better place to take my animals when emergencies arise! The first time I used DoveLewis, I had a Golden with a rapidly growing tumor on his shoulder. My usual vet didn't want to deal with it, and having just learned about DoveLewis, I took my Golden there. I didn't have to make an appt, but rather took my dog into the 24-hr ER hospital. Following numerous tests, it was determined my dog could be treated with pills, which he was, and he lived another 18 months. This time around, my older Golden was experiencing a terrible, hacking cough, but also lethargy and loss of appetite. It was Friday, and I knew I didn't want to wait to see my local vet on Monday--time WAS of the essence. We drove him to DoveLewis, where he collapsed in the lobby--too weak to stand up. Again, while we waited, they performed numerous tests, finally determining he didn't have anything as serious as paralysis of the larynx, but rather pneumonia--whew! BEST THING: the ER services are open 2-10pm (having had to reduce hours due to funding issues…), and patients are seen rather quickly, with diagnoses sometimes given immediately, but certainly by the next morning. I've come to trust the doctors at DoveLewis implicitly; actually both the vets AND techs are thoroughly competent, and everyone we encountered was compassionate, kind, and professional. I feel so blessed to have this hospital available for emergencies, that rescuing senior Goldens is a lot less daunting because of DoveLewis: I KNOW I can get top-notch emergency veterinary service there any day. The only BAD NEWS is that because of Covid and resultant cuts in funding, the ER has had to reduce its hours from 24/7--a loss for all of us, to be sure. I am compelled to find a way to financially support DoveLewis beginning in the near future--we must never let this institution fade away any further, because we owe that to our animals, don't we? And we owe the vets, techs, administrative folks, and everyone else working there, the support that they so obviously deserve. I just cannot say enough good about DoveLewis and the service it provides to we pet owners in Oregon--bravo!
I took in my friend's dog late at night. They were very busy, yet, they looked at Marley in the waiting area and knew he needed to be seen. He had numerous cancerous tumors all thru his lymph nodes. They helped out compassionately by putting him to sleep. They talked with my friend about making payments for the bill and getting his foot prints. I was highly impressed with their help and care for low cost emergency services.
A compassionate clinic. The veterinarian and the assistant are professional and provide really good services. If you are low income, they offer you a reasonable and affordable cost.
We took our dog to Dove Lewis for a consultation after being referred by our Vet. The whole staff was very professional and nice. Dr. Sophie Petersen was amazing. She was thorough and gentle. She sat and explained everything to us and did not try to push more test, when she felt they were not needed. I would recommend Dove Lewis to anyone with a pet.
Recently we found that our 9-month old Golden Retriever had swallowed four lead fishing weights, one was 8 ounces. He needed immediate surgery that was beyond the capability of our local vets. DoveLewis said to bring him up, which I did (I live over an hour away). Their 24-hour emergency service is an awesome service. Over the course of the next few hours, the Vet. Drs figured out the dog needed a little more than simple surgery, and they developed the best course of action. Surgery in the afternoon, and picked him up in the evening for R&R at home. What is really appreciated is how the Drs, and there were several involved, kept us informed, and checked on his progress. The dog (Winston) is doing fantastic, and in two days I take him back to have the surgery staples removed.
Thank you DoveLewis for making a stressful situation nice for us and Winston.
At what must be one of the most stressful times of every pet owner's life what could be more essential than competence and kindness? Control is wrested from your heart and hand and turned over to people you do not know. The thought of losing a much loved buddy hovers all about. My experience there this week was totally positive, in large part I think because of what felt like genuine understanding and kindness from the moment of entering until we were fortunate and able to leave together. The thorough explanations of what was happening and going to happen was well done and deeply appreciated. Larry Sokol
Clean! The staff was great! This in an emergency room environment. The staff try to walk you through it with compassion. The pricing was not crazy (under $300) for an emergency diarrhea visit. I was able to find a primary care vet in the internal med department while we were here. All around this experience started as scary but had a good outcome. I highly recommend and will be back!
While they are swamped with overflow patients, they still took the time to triage my pup. I was certain her life was in danger, but they were able to reassure me that while her symptoms were cause to be concerned, she wasn't crashing and should be able to visit her normal vet. The follow-up they provided was reassuring. My girl is well now and exactly what they expected. One million thanks!
The staff at Dove Lewis is impressive. Even though when I am there it is usually a very stressful event. But I always look back at all my interactions with the people there, and they have consistently been so kind and understanding. It really helps keep me centered and not fall apart! The reason you are here is generally not good but if you have to go somewhere for your precious pet, this is the place!
If I could rate Dove Lewis 1000 Stars I would!!! They are the kindest caring compassionate human beings ever, they helped me through one of the worst times in my life with such beautiful care for myself and my precious Chance whom I lost due to a severe breathing problem, I have to say the vet and all of the staff were so gentle and understanding with the Most Genuine caring hearts with every moment of my time there, I cannot thank them enough for being there for me and my furbaby they tried so hard to save him but it was his time to cross the rainbow bridge. Thank you all for what you do I would return in a heartbeat for my emergency veterinarian needs..
The care of our sweet bunny, was amazing! We brought her in with a hind leg fracture and were treated with kindness, empathy and very clear communication on our options, risks and benefits that helped guide our choices for her care. We did have to wait a while the evening we brought her in, however, we understood and expected this due to Dove Lewis being an emergency pet hospital. They went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and kept us updated, and even though we were there until past closing, they were able to still address our bunny's needs and splint her fracture, despite it being a very busy night. Everyone was exceptional from the moment we arrived. We had appointments atleast once a week for a couple months, and finally a surgery. I really appreciated the dedication, guidance and effforts of Dr. Flaminio and her assistant, Jamie, to provide the best care possible while also being mindful to make every effort to reduce cost of treatment. We are so grateful to have a successful outcome! Thank you!
With love and gratitude,
the Cooper family!
This place is top-notch. We'll not go any place else for an emergency. It's understandable that emergent issues take priority so waiting isn't a problem when you know you'll get the care needed. Dove Lewis is good about triage so they can determine your pets safety. Highly recommend.
We had tried to get into so many vets with our sick puppy. She is a rescue who has struggled with health issues and needed immediate care. DoveLewis got us in and saved our puppy. They did an outstanding job getting her isolated right away so she wasn’t exposed to other dogs and the meds they gave her are working miracles. Thanks for being there and helping. We were so worried about her.
My pet was very sick and Dove Lewis and the wonderful staff stabilized her and though there was no definitive diagnosis, Kona began to improve. Thank you for being open and available to help our family member on a Sunday afternoon.
(This is Kona in her Halloween costume)
Many of the reviews on here complain about pricing and I get that. As a large referral, ER and urgent care clinic it is expected. Having just moved here from the DFW area in Texas, they are no more than most ER or speciality clinics, and they offer funding for those that qualify.
With regards to my personal experiences, they have been outstanding. We needed a neurologist for 2 kitties, one with severe hydrocephalus and my senior who suddenly started having seizures at 14. Dr Prouty was compassionate and kind, and never tried to just do test for the money. She took a very holistic view point and discussed long term strategy and why or what testing we would do based on the outcome and goals.
Recently I had to take my Senior Dog who is a large 14 yr old to the urgent care center. Even though they are an hour away, I took him to DoveLewis based on my previous experience and the poor reviews I had read on my local ER Clinic. I am so glad we did. Dr Carlton was nothing short of compassionate, honest and straightforward supporting the plan and decisions discussed. We were able to bring our boy back home and sure enough he has improved and doing so much better. Dr Carlton was great and we've had nothing but positive experiences with the staff and front office as well. Yes, they are going to be more expensive than your daily vet, but when needed and urgent or emergency care is the only option, they are outstanding and I am glad they are there! Thank you DoveLewis.
Not only were they fast but they went above and beyond. Not once but two times! We took our 10 week old kitty in and they treated us so kindly and took such great care of her and BARELY charged us compared to other hospitals in the area, I would highly highly highly recommend them to anyone who just loves their animals and wants them to be taken care of by the best. Thank you, dove lewis
We experienced friendly staff at the front desk who took us early for our appointment. We were kept informed while waiting by the Vet Tech. Dr Thompson gave us her assessment and treatment plan in a competent and caring manner. Our experience was excellent.
Our doggo of 13 years was at his end. We took him here and were seen immediately to do what was best for him. They took care of him to ensure he felt no pain. We appreciate their prompt care of us.
Dove Lewis has always taken wonderful care of my service dog, as well as the furry and feathered friends of many people that I know. They are honest and compassionate at the most painful and vulnerable times. Thank you to the vets and support staff!!
We had a health emergency for our little dog and every staff member at Dove Lewis was wonderful. Not only with bedside manner, but also with explanation on what was going on and overall care as we had so much anxiety and stress over our sick beloved dog. Thank you Dove Lewis!
I had as positive of an experience with DoveLewis as I could have ever hoped for, all things considered. I literally sent them a thank you card for being so compassionate to me and my kitty during her end of life care. My sincerest thanks again to everyone on staff there.
#triage #professional
Excellent service, excellent triage practices. I love the phone surveys for history taking. My poor puppy ate some grapes and they were transparent on the data or lack there of surrounding toxicity of grapes. They got us in fast and kept her for 3 days , 2 nights. For emergency services the price point was not too extreme either.
I found a broken Anna's hummingbird on the sidwalk and called Audubon Society, Humane Society, and was referred to DoveLewis because Audubon had extensive damage from burst pipes. DoveLewis gave me good advice and encouraged me to bring the litte sufferer in. It was New Years and the place was packed, but we were treated with courtesy and efficiency. My impression was that the patient will get the best of care.
Cabo our “furamily” and Luxury Bath NW Mascot had to spend 4 days at Dove Lewis’s ICU. From the beginning the staff was understanding and comforting even with the “touch & go” situation with Cabo. He’s on the road to recovery and we are great full!!
I wish I could name every staff member who assisted with Cabo during his time of care. As his owner “Cabo” I will state they they are overwhelmed by the demand of the public, BUT!! They will stop at nothing to care for each animal that is carried, walked or other means through their doors.
Each front office assist, each technician, each vet doctor gave the information upfront whether good or unfavorable with care and compassion. I’m amazed how these folks have the ability to do the job they signed up for each and every day, every hour, 24/365!!
Please keep up the Front line service you do for our pets.
Thank You,
Duane
Our dog had an infected paw and was treated. Everyone was professional and caring and fully explained what was going on to us. Would not have taken him anywhere else. So glad you are here when emergencies arise.
Our Rosie was critically ill. The staff at Dove Lewis were all amazing throughout our dog’s diagnosis and recovery. We are so grateful for the care she received. They saved her life!
Our Westie.- Maggie Mae was a very sick girl with Pancreatitis. She spent 2 nights at Dove Lewis receiving fluids & pain medication intravenously. They were very kind to send photos of Maggie in ICU & to keep us up-to-date on her progress. It was a very stressful time & we so appreciate the care she received at Dove Lewis❤️
They are all extremely nice and hopefully they are gonna save my dog!!
They did help save her by finding me a great vet I could afford and making all the arrangements for me. Thank you so much my Rue is everything!
I thought my beloved dog was going to die. One day, she just lost her energy and appetite, and it got worse and worse. By Thanksgiving weekend, I was convinced she had a tumor and tried to find help. My regular vet was unavailable. I turned to DoveLewis. We spent all day Friday after TG at DL. They checked her in and out, performed every test, and determined she had pyometra, a uterine infection which can be fatal but is treatable by immediate surgery. They said they could do the surgery, but they suggested it would be cheaper to have a different hospital perform it, which I appreciated. I did have the surgery done promptly, and my dog is thriving. Thank you, DoveLewis. You saved her life.
These people are wonderful. I’ve come to them with emergencies both physical and administrative, and the staff here (all of them - veterinarian, receptionist, technician, EVERYONE) helps however they can. In a world full of “can’t do” attitudes wherever I look, I am so grateful to these “will do”ers for saving my dog’s life (twice).
Lukka, 120 lb English Mastiff, ingested 62 rimadyl tablets. Dove Lewis vets were there to see her through two nights in the hospital giving excellent care with excellent communication to me. Lukka is home doing very well!
Dove Lewis was very professional when my daughter and I took her pet in to be checked out. They were honest and upfront with what they could do to help and how quickly we could be seen. Recommended!
If you ever find it necessary to take your pet to an Emergency Clinic, this is the place to go. Everyone there was wonderful, and the vet who took care of my cat was outstanding.Give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you Dove Lewis for your compassionate care of our cat Cleo! We also appreciate the doc for taking her time to answer or questions! Your staff are knowledgeable and hospitable.
I am pleased to say that Dr. Zabel at Dove Lewis is taking care of my little cat, Zoe June. She has allergies and Dr. Zabel is helping her not itch and scratch. She and her staff really care about the health of their patients. Blessings to them for taking care of those little creatures who cannot take care of themselves. Connie Terwilliger
At my visit and my dog's visit to Doug Lewis veterinarian Hospital we were both treated with respect and care there was a triage and I had to wait which was not very long they took care of my dog and explained everything thoroughly they helped me with my bill... what I'm really trying to say is we were treated so well and so kindly at Doug Lewis and I just want to say thank you very much for taking care of my animal my dog thank you
Always appreciate the kindness and patience shown at Dove Lewis, especially given that not many of us go there for "routine checkups," usually, we're all a little freaked out and worried about our furry friend! Glad to have you guys on the side of pets!
Dove Lewis is a pillar of the Portland community! For a place like Portland that is pet crazy there is still no other veterinary option that is always open and always provides high quality care. Even during Covid when Dove Lewis had unprecedented numbers of visits, their staff was attentive and caring. When I recently visited with a life-threatening health crisis for my pet, they were all incredibly kind while being totally pragmatic and nursed my cat Lucy back to health (while also supporting my emotional state)! Thank you!
I've heard bad things inbthe past about this place, however my puppy broke his paw and needed emergency help. This was the closest place and I was skeptical. Due to covid you have to wait in the parking lot in your car and call in. I hated the process. 14 hours later I realized my puppy Zeppelin was in the right hands and I was only in shock due to his injury. They made the cutest cast for his little paw!!!!!!! My mind was changed about the things I heard previously about this establishment.
Greatest area of improvement is out of your control which is to have enough qualified care givers to get to the 24 hr mark. There were a few times that communication with the staff seemed to be at the breaking point probably due to to much to do with too little people to do it. The closest thing to a gripe was that we had no idea and was never told that upon pickup Skippy had been sedated and looking at him as a person with limited experience in veteranary care he looked pretty sick which necessitated us turning around and spending another 3+ hours to find out that his lethargy was due to sedation. Gratefully the attending vet saw to it that there would be no charge since it was our 5th visit inside of a week in regards to the matter. My suggestion would be to turn the dial up on effective comunication.
My pup has received great care from Dove Lewis on multiple occasions. I’ve been able to get her seen quickly when needed and great advice over the phone.
My bunny, Bella, had a case of GI stasis which if not caught and treated quickly would have been deadly. Dove Lewis treated her as critical and got her in quickly. I lost a bunny last year from this and Dove Lewis was very understanding regarding how traumatic the situation with Bella was for me. It was expensive; however if you have pets, it is important to have an emergency fund to cover something like this. They did an excellent job sending records to our current vet so they could continuity to treat her.
DoveLewis treated my dog with love and professionalism when I was very worried about my dog's health. They took care of my dog right away and have been great with post visit communication and perfectly informative.
This place was amazing. My puppy got into some chocolate. They were very quick to treat him and he fully recovered. They were so nice and so helpful. Great vets-great staff and customer service! Very impressng
I brought my sick cat in just to find out she had to go to sleep forever the staff was amazing. And so caring they showed compassion towards me and my kid. I will come back if I ever need to
Once again Dove Lewis took fine care of our old dog Sam- prompt, professional, thorough, and effective.
They are the best.
Thank you for helping us with putting our dog down today. The amount of support and comfort you provided us was amazing. I have never met such a nice vet in my life who understood how hard this was for us. And the comfort room was wonderful. Thank you so much for everything. ♡
I had a fabulous experience here! Knowing people come here for reasons good and bad, it’s hard to fairly rate a place that often delivers bad news. Leaving emotion aside, the front desk staff were very-well informed and answers questions/directed patients appropriately. Listening to some of the phone calls they made they were very professional. The triage staff were seen to be calm and comforting even to the visitors in distress. The doctor was very friendly and personable. I was given the time and attention i expected despite all else that was going on around us. Thank you Dove Lewis - you’re truly an asset to the community!
I wish I'd never needed to use their services, but I've had to on several occasions, and I am so glad that DoveLewis is here. My dog was admitted this past Saturday for imaging, had his gallbladder removed, on Sunday, came home on Tuesday, and is making a remarkable recovery. The care he received is top-notch, and even though they're always busy, the staff takes whatever time is needed to let us know what's going on with our pets and to answer our questions. I can't say enough good things about these folks and this facility.
Dove Lewis has been with us during some of the hardest times, Losing our 2 fur baby boys. They have always been extra caring, supportive and uplifting. Recently we took our girl, Zena in with an extreme allergy flare. The poor girl was so miserable. They got her right in and got her vitals. When a room became available called us back to talk about a care plan for her. We were so impressed by how we felt listened to, honored and as though we were all on the same team . Unlike her last visit to a different vet. We were made to feel as though we were bad dog parents just because we are trying to use all natural products for our babies. Anyway. Again we have been impressed with the amount of caring staff here at Dove Lewis, especially since we are pit bull owners. Our babies have always been very well loved loved and taken care of here. Thanks Dove Lewis!!! Happy Pit bull parents and a happy Zena!! By the way, she has been doing wonderful on her treatment!!! ❤
Top notch professionals who do a great job caring for the animals that are brought in for triage. I know it can be frustrating to wait in the parking lot and not know when you'll be seen but they handled all the uncertainty with kindness and patience and when it was time for them to operate on our cat, they were informed and thoughtful and expert at what they did. We have twice had to go to Dove Lewis for emergency situations with two different animals, and we wouldn't go elsewhere for a serious emergency. It's a testament to their excellence that the outcome of the surgery can offset the wait time at the front end. Let's get through COVID so they can get back to regular business!
We had to bring our brand new pet in recently for some things happening that we didn’t understand. We were treated with kindness, patience, and reassurance while our pet was being treated for his illness. The staff were phenomenal; they moved quickly and with focus. The whole thing took less than an hour and the rates for astonishingly inexpensive. HIGHLY recommend.
I have been bringing my pets here for years and I could not be more pleased. The couple of post prior to this are right on as well. First I am shocked about the disclaimer on all ER vet sites speaking to not tolerating abuse of their staff. What is wrong with people? Seriously?
I’m in a service industry and know all to well most reviews come from unhappy people and that’s why I’m leaving my review for those that want the real truth. For almost 15 years i have been bringing my babies to Dove Lewis and I have never not been more than satisfied with the level of care my pets receive and the professionalism of their staff.
With Covid many 24/7 facilities say they are not accepting any new patients because they are at capacity. Then I hear the recorded messages that they will not tolerate the abuse of their staff. I was shocked that this is happening so often it’s on a prerecorded message. Shame on people! With this being said, if it’s a true emergency they find room for you.
I am so grateful for the Dove Lewis team. I sleep better knowing they are caring for my babies. If there were a bad experience to be had I think I would have seen it by now having had over 11 animals seen over my 15 years by them.
The staff at Dove Lewis is caring, professional and passionate about saving our babies and should be treated with the utmost respect. Shout out to Dr. Lindsey McGuire, who has taken care of a couple of my babies over all the years, because of you I believe my babies will live a long healthy life, thank you!
Remember being kind to others will benefit you more in life than being nasty. Karma will catch up to you!
I hope this helps anyone who cares for the truth about what to expect.
Dove Lewis took such good care of my cat Jimbo. I am so grateful to the wonderful staff! This is the place to go for pet emergencies.
Jimbo is back to his old self and will be following up with his regular vet soon.
Thanks Dove Lewis!
My dog of 14 years was real sick and no other veterinarian had time to see her so they suggested DoveLewis. There were critical patients ahead of my dog but I stayed and when they saw her they were truly concerned. They took care of my dog for hours while I was sent home. I returned and was told what I needed to do for her. They gave me instructions and food and medication. They help save my dog. I know that she will leave me soon but my love goes out to DoveLewis for the love they had for my dog!
Well this is kind of a sad story but I am here to leave a positive review and what my experience was. On the day my little dog and I came to the ER Vet, my little one was in chronic pain. The wait time was reasonable and when they came and talked with me, it was all caring and professional. Even while they were very busy and patients coming in and out. They really cared for my little dog and was looking out for her with all the care they can provide. Unfortunately, my little one was in a big chronic pain and we went over all the options and the outcome was very bleak. The Doctor was there for us and understood what was to come next. The next day I went to my original veterinary place and we went to the option that I was afraid of. Euthanasia. Dove Lewis really took good care for her and they provided me with all the information I can take. I am not leaving a bad review because of my last option. Dove Lewis can provide so much help in the moment and will make sure everyone will be happy.
Thank you Dove Lewis for helping us at the time and I would recommend my friends and family to you guys. Keep up the good work everyone.
Our recent experience with Dove Lewis was exceptional. They saw our dog when it would have been a two week wait at his usual vet - and a dog with diarrhea needs to be seen! Everyone there was kind and showed great care for our dog. Everything was timely, efficient and well explained, both their findings and the prescribed medication. I am happy to say that our dog is now doing well.
My cat stopped eating suddenly and while I didn't think it was life threatening, I knew I wanted to get him in to get looked at. Every vet office within 30 miles of me were booked for the next two months which wouldn't help so I called Dove Lewis for some help. I'd been to them before with the same cat 8 years ago and knew they were great but I'd forgotten just how great they are exactly.
I did the sign in on my phone, drove to the building and was greeted to a full lobby of people. I worried me and my cat would be shoved to the side and ignored for a while but they were quick to get me checked in and I only waited about five minutes until the vet tech came to get him. She asked me questions, made sure he was comfortable then took him in back.
There were a lot of people coming and going while I was there. They were fast to check people in and give updates when possible. I was there for 6 hours but they always let me know what was going on and how my cat was doing so I never was panicking or worried about what was happening. A lot of people were getting impatient with the waiting times in the lobby but I know they're short staffed and the lesser emergencies like mine got put to the side when other animals came in that really needed the help. That being said, I never felt like my cat or his needs were being ignored. They always gave me updates and made sure I was in the loop how he was doing.
Over all, I do recommend Dove Lewis. The staff is amazing and I always feel like my kitty is in good hands. The prices can be a lot since they are a 24 hour emergency vet clinic but they have a lot of ways to help and they were very transparent with me about what they were doing and how much it would cost. Let's hope I don't have to use them any time soon but if I do, I know it'll be a pleasant experience.
This past weekend I had a really bad scare with my fur baby, Binx, and after calling around to several ER’s that were at capacity I was able to secure a spot for Binx at Dove Lewis and I brought him in immediately. While this was an extremely scary time for me (and Binx) I felt confident that the doctors and techs were taking the very best care of my baby boy. The communication from their team was amazing, and kept me as calm as I could be given the circumstances and they were incredibly gracious in working with me to secure my finances in order to be sure that Binx got the care that he required. By Wednesday, after emergency surgery, Binx came home and he’s doing incredible, healing well and mostly just annoyed that he has to wear a cone and can’t get up to his normal shenanigans. I would never wish an emergency on anyone, and I hope to never have a scare like this ever again, but in that instance I would not hesitate to take Binx or recommend someone take their fur baby to Dove Lewis.
Also, shout out to their admin staff, they are absolutely phenomenal as well, I felt nothing but compassion and warmth from every single team member that I interacted with.
I am so incredibly grateful (and might be tearing up a lil’bit as I write this out of happiness and appreciation) for everyone at Dove Lewis for taking care of my Binx and getting him back home to me safe and sound.
I’ve added some photos of his lil’recovery journey. He’s really acting like himself on day 3 post surgery and got up into the window (no jumping, he has a ramp that gets him up to the stool in the window). He’s also being spoiled with meals in bed. Overall I think he’s loving the extra attention.
The staff at DoveLewis are all so amazing! They treated my dog’s injury with the utmost care, and reassured me through every step of the process. I probably called them 8 times while he was being treated, and each time, they were so wonderfully sweet and informative. I am so grateful for all they did for my furry friend and my family.
Angels for our fur angels, compassionate and caring and when had an emergency with my pup they had a way of calming me and making sure my furry old man was gonna be fine. I can’t say thank you enough for the concern and overall care they provide, please know this is an emergency animal hospital it’s going to cost but there are resources there that can help, seeing the $$ can be scary. My dog was evaluated and we left the same day, shout out to the VetTech with the red hair she was awesome and kept it real with me during the visit which was 100% appreciated.
My best friend (my dog) had what seemed like a stroke late in the night on Thanksgiving. I called into DoveLewis (for the first time ever) and immediately spoke with a nurse who helped decide whether or not I should rush her in or monitor and wait for the morning. Once I brought her in, she was admitted very quickly and a triage nurse reassured us that her vitals were good and she was in stable condition. It was a busy morning, and there were a few critical cases that came in which understandably took precedence, but I was updated regularly and eventually saw my pups doctor who had already performed a full physical examination as I opted for during the check-in process. The doctor was very efficient and helpful in explaining the situation and a range of plans for moving forward. It was all-in-all as good an experience as possible given the situation. I would recommend DoveLewis to anyone in need of emergency services.
My little scoops had parvo really badly but they gave me 2 options and none of them involved giving up on my little guy. But I couldn't afford to leave him there for the care that he needed! But then the doctor and nurses were amazing and sent me home with all the supplies and meds I would need to help my pet survive, and he did, he's 100% recovered! Thank you for all the help. Unforgettable! 🙏Bless the team at dove lewis. Thank you for everything.
I had to euthanize my 18 year old cat a few days ago. I was a mess so they put me in a room immediately. The staff is so amazing!
I did not give five stars is because the exam room was very small and dark. Nothing on the walls, no nice blanket and not the kind of room that you would expect to euthanize your animal in. I was a veterinary assistant for years and every clinic I worked in, had a euthanasia room and we could set up another room in 1 minute.
I am so thankful to the techs and vets for being so kind and giving me as much time as I needed with my Timmy.
Our 4 month old Lab Jasmine got into an empty package of slug bait that we never purchased. She stopped breathing as we walked through the door of DoveLewis. The skilled doctors and staff saved her life. She spent about 36 hours in their ICU and then was able to come home. Thankfully we had pet insurance for her. Labs will put anything in their mouths you know. Had it not been for DoveLewis this would be a very sad Christmas for us. She received better care than some people I know AND the doctors were so kind to us, answering questions and keeping us updated. I hope never to have to return, but I am grateful DoveLewis is there. THANK YOU Dr. Turner and everyone <3
My 6 yr pregnant lab seemed to be trouble when she went into labor. Living on the coast where there is no emergency pet services, I had packed her up and headed to the city. The young lady who worked with Belle was very kind, compassionate, and professional. She examined Belle, then had a vet take a look at her too. It was determined that she was most likely was in early labor, and things looked ok, puppies were not in distress. Good news. We headed back home to have puppies. In the end we she did get into trouble, stalled labor. Thankfully, a vet friend, who just happened to be town, took her to surgery to save the last 7 pups. As for the staff at Dove Lewis they were great. Their assessment for accurate for Belle's condition at the time they saw her. I trust them, and will go to them again should the need arise.
The staff at Dove Lewis kept me up to date with all the care that was being provided to my ailing 12 year old Chihuahua Elwood. The staff was attentive and compassionate to Elwood's care. Even though it was a long day they would keep me updated on how he was doing via phone calls and this allowed me to step out and get a bite to eat and stretch my legs which was really nice. I have and always will reach out to Dove Lewis for any and all of my pets emergency needs. Thanks Dove Lewis!
Our seven year-old male cat had started experiencing urinary problems, producing smaller amounts of urine more frequently. Our regular vet had put him on medication with advice to seek emergency care if he became distressed. The next day, a Saturday, at 6:30 AM, that happened. We called Dove Lewis, explained the situation, and were advised to bring him in immediately, which we did. Although the online check-in process was somewhat overwhelming to complete on an iphone amidst the sense of crisis, we managed to complete it enroute. His condition put him high in triage for immediate attention and he was seen within about 15 minutes. Once they determined that he did not have a blockage, they treated him with pain relievers and advised us to go home until he could be fully evaluated, which took time because so many other animals needed care during the weekend. Indeed, by early evening, when I had difficulty getting through on the phone, I stopped by for an update and the waiting area was packed with people and animals. A vet completed the full evaluation early the following morning, explained it to us in detail, requested permission to do a urinalysis, and we picked him up by 7 AM. Dove Lewis sent us home with medication for pain, a relaxant, and sample cans of food less likely than regular food to cause kidney stones or crystals that might have been the source of the problem. The urinalysis results came the next morning showing a bacterial infection as the cause. They offered to work with our regular vet to fill the prescription for antibiotics. Staff were professional, calm, and supportive throughout. The cost of several hundred dollars was not more than I expected it would have been at our regular vet and, in fact, lower than I anticipated for an emergency visit.
My kitty became terribly ill over several days. He had developed a high blood sugar and pancreatitis and needed to be admitted to the ICU. I received a referral from my vet and brought him to the emergency entrance. Despite being busy the care was friendly and efficient. As a former human ER worker I was impressed with the triage system and professionalism of everyone I came into contact with. During his stay the communication was excellent. Linus recovered and is doing well. He is very special as he was my daughters childhood pet and she passed away in August. The staff were very caring and sensitive to this tragedy that he and I had experienced. I will be forever grateful to the providers at this wonderful facility. It was well worth the cost considering the level of care and expertise provided.
I took my cat here after he had a seizure. They were completely booked so it was a long wait. However, the staff were so compassionate. I can’t imagine how hard that job would be, working overnights and dealing with upset folks and animals. Thank you to the staff for all your help and making sure my sweet kitty was ok.
My family and I just wanted to express our gratitude for the amazing employees at DoveLewis. Even though we lost our old lady three days ago, you guys made it as peaceful as possible. You were all so kind and thoughtful. They even shed some tears with us. 🥺The wonderful card and pawprints and fur you sent home with us meant a lot. They offered us a room where we could be alone with her. The prices were very reasonable, compared to everywhere else. (They clearly aren't money hungry like other pet hospitals.) Thank you all so much! We highly recommend this place. ❤
We had to rush our cat to DoveLewis when he began having cluster seizures. We were scared and uncertain about what would happen with him. The team at DoveLewis immediately took him into their care and got the issue under control. Every person we interacted with provided the highest level of care. They were understanding, helpful, kind, and compassionate. Our cat is doing great and his seizures are under control.
Thank you to everyone at DoveLewis!
I got there very early in the morning and granted I was a little irritated about how many pages there were to fill out for admittance, but before I was finished someone came out talked with me took my cat to triage made him comfortable, informed me of his status and even showed him on facetime, they cared for him compassionately and as efficiently as they could. I feel he got excellent care and I was given all the information I needed to make an appropriate decision for the care of my pet. DoveLewis does a fantastic job. Thank You.
Wonderful experience!!! It was a long wait, but so understandable as there were many animals that were in need of more urgent care. Our Cairn Terrier, Gambler had a nasty ear infection. Dr C Snyder took care of him. She was amazing!!! Gambler loved her. I was amazed that even though the clinic was so busy, everyone was so kind and patient. Thank you!!!
They're not perfect. They're short-staffed and my dog had to wait for 12 hours to be seen. Having said that, they're competent. They saved my dog's life when I was desperate and all other ERs around here rejected him for not having enough staff. The fact that they allowed me to visit my dog in the ICU is something I will forever be thankful for. My dog has been in poor health ever since he was born and I've been to many vets and emergency rooms with him. I'd say the techs, doctors, and the people at the front desk are among the most competent I have seen :-)
I unfortunately had to bring my cat in last night after he ingested medication that could have been deadly. There were multiple really serious emergencies while we were waiting but they still managed to take him in quickly. We ended up being at the vet for close to 8 hours however the staff was very accommodating to us and gave us updates on our cat as soon as they could. We also witnessed their interactions with multiple patients over the course of the evening and the night staff was nothing short of compassionate and professional. When we finally saw Dr Peterson he immediately made us feel better, it was obvious that our cat was well cared for and monitored. He also did a really throughout job of explaining our cats treatment as well as the cost. All in all the cost was much less than expected and the night was made much less stressful because of the night staff.
When I called Dove Lewis they answered fast and was told to bring my dog in. My dog was not in good shape, no neurological veterinarians were on staff which was really unfortunate. No other neurological veterinarians were available this weekend other then a place who quoted $13,000 in Seattle for the surgery he needed. I left with pain medication and detailed instructions to follow up with my regular veterinarian for further help. Even though I didn’t get what I had hoped (an easy fix, or surgery at a reasonable cost), they were kind, helpful, organized, and made me feel comfortable in a not so comfortable situation. And I felt like they cared and my dog got what was available to him.
Because of DoveLewis and their team of amazing veterinarians, techs, and support staff, my dog is alive and sitting next to me on the couch today.
My dog came in as a transfer from his regular vet - he was in respiratory distress and was truly, critically ill. The staff at DoveLewis had him in the back, on oxygen and being assessed by a veterinarian within about five minutes of his arrival. He was stabilized and hospitalized in the ICU for 4 days. Each day, I received a phone call from the treating veterinarian in the morning, updating me on how he did overnight, what the plan was for the day, and either a call or a text update about how he had responded to treatment for the day. They also made time for me to visit him twice during his hospitalization, which (especially when your pet is critically ill and may not survive) is a kind and thoughtful gesture I deeply appreciate, especially given how busy they were every time I came in.
In many of these reviews, I see the complaints are about long wait times. The wait times can be long because the staff here are prioritizing animals like my Fizz - pets who might be measuring their remaining time in minutes without intervention, not hours or days. If you are waiting, it means your pet can afford to wait - there are others (and their terrified people) who cannot. Please keep that in mind and lead with compassion and empathy in your interaction with staff here. Nobody gets into emergency and critical care vet medicine because they want to rob owners of money during a crisis or inconvenience clients with long wait times - they do it because at the end of the day, they want your pet to be able to go home with you, and because of the staff at DoveLewis, I was able to do that today.
Thank you, DoveLewis!
I have looked high and low for a veterinarian(s) who specialize in treating rabbits. The thing about rabbits is that nearly every needed visit to the vet is an emergency due to their fragile systems. Even thought there are other exotic vets (not many) in the Portland area, it's almost impossible to get an appointment within 48 hours. Dove Lewis has saved the life of 2 of my rabbits and they don't charge more than other vets. I love how professional and compassionate every staff member is. They do need to work on the phone system and transferring (it is not so friendly to the customer and adds extra stress).
Our dog Lulu was in great distress. When we arrived at Dive Lewis we were greeted with kindness and care. Lu was immediately given attention and we were kept appraised of her condition as her condition was assessed and treated. The entire staff (Carlos is a rockstar) was educated, thoughtful, empathetic, and incredibly helpful.
Thank you all!
We took our cat in for a emergency and the staff treated us with kindness and compassion. The front desk staff helped not just us, but everyone who came in with the same kindness. Despite being busy and under-staffed, they still took the time to check in and give us updates on our Buster. The vet who treated Buster was wonderful too; answering all of our questions, taking her time and being very empathetic. I can't say enough about the quality of care Buster received and the genuine care we were shown throughout our experience here. We live in Vancouver, but would gladly make the drive to come back if any of our kitties should need medical help.
My little 3 toed box turtle snagged his toe nails causing him pain and leaving me worried over how to care for him. I tried all the local vets in Astoria Or. No luck no one treats turtles. I tried his regular vet in Portland and they were booked. So off to DoveLewis. They got to my little guy as quickly as they could. It did take a few hours for him to be cared for. But with all the number of cases they had. I was not upset with having to wait.. The Vet let me know what treatment she did. What to do for his care. I am very pleased with the care and how kind the staff were.
The staff at DoveLewis are incredibly kind, patient, and compassionate. When COVID-19 made it impossible to bring my sick rabbit into her regular veterinarian for care (it was a three week wait for an appointment!), we came into DoveLewis where they took great care of us. Yes - the wait can be long right now - especially if your pet isn't critical. I am so grateful that DoveLewis is open and able to see exotic pets during the pandemic. Thank you for taking such good care of us!
Please ignore the one star reviews- so you have any idea how busy they are? Short staffed? Have you seen the sheer number of pets they LOvE in the waiting room?
Goodness, humans, have mercy and grace for this team that chose to spend their life caring for our cherished humananimals:). Our Duke is now in heaven - Dove Lewis was exceptional, every person i spoke with, including two doctors- Kind, communicative, efficient - Superb Team we should be extremely grateful to ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm always impressed with their level of care and expertise. People are way too hard on this clinic. When I was in there with my dog, I heard people yelling and becoming very angry at the staff. I understand people are probably stressed out, but they are doing what they can and have laways offered me such amazing care. I brought my dog in there with wounds to her front leg, yes theres a wait like any ER service. They were kind and did an excellent job caring for my old girl. :) Thank you Dove Lewis
The staff was absolutely incredible. They handled everyone with grace, and continued to give updates as much as possible. Long waits are inevitable in the ER, but I always felt like I was supported. In a hard moment, I knew that they were genuinely caring for me.
Huge volume of patients right now, so long waits-but totally worth it for the level of care, thoroughness of evaluation, superb communication and well thought out plan for our dog, who presented with a rapidly growing huge mass on her neck. She is much improved and has a follow up appointment with one of the surgeons.
I would like to say that the employees here are extremely nice. I would also say even when they are getting verbally abused. I watch some pet owner be just horrible. All because they had to wait for their dog for what they thought was to long. I was and a lot of people were there a whole lot longer. They were are nice and pleasant trying to explain what was going on to them. My dog had a very bad disk problem they walked me through it all they literally talked to me because I was upset about my dog. Let my see him even though they probably don't do that. In my opinion they have been wonderful. I think my dog is in the best place he could be.
These guys are the best! Very kind, compassionate, and transparent people who want nothing more than to help you and your pet. Dr. Reminga was very personable and empathetic and helped me out in every way she could. Seriously, thank you for all you do!
We received compassionate care from DVM Lindsay McGuire and the support staff in a time of crisis. We are grateful for their thoughtfulness around our pet emergency.
I couldn't recommend DoveLewis enough. Our 14 year old dog had five seizures in 48 hours and I called so many other emergency veterinarians, and although they all acknowledged the severity of her situation, no one would see her, as they were at capacity. I called DoveLewis and they told us to come right over. When we arrived, they took my dog right back and started treating her. They were so helpful and compassionate, and I will always appreciate what they did for us.
In June our beloved 19 year old granny cat lost her battle with kidney disease and we found ourselves forced to find immediate relief for her. No one else could get us in same day and Dove Lewis found time for us same afternoon. There was a wait but nothing unacceptable and their concern and care for us as we said goodbye to Sparta was nothing short of amazing. I would highly recommend Dove Lewis in your time of need.
This is the best place. My dog had a horrible ear infection late at night. There was a 7 hour wait everywhere I called. They got her in so quick and all the staff is so nice there!! I won’t go anywhere else for a pet emergency:)
We took our dog into Dove Lewis after he had a seizure. They took took his vitals, checked him over, observed him in the back and gave us helpful information about follow-up. After 3 hours we were expecting a rather large bill. They did not charge us for anything. Bless you Dove Lewis for your care and compassion.
I am so happy to live so near DoveLewis and to be able to take my dogs in when they need off-hours or emergency help. This was my 5th visit over the last 25 years and the DoveLewis team was awesome! My 12 year old dog hurt his eye off-hours. Waiting over the holiday weekend could have resulted in serious eye damage. Fortunately, he was able to be seen and given an eye cream that would prevent further injury and infection. We're on day 6 after our visit and he is doing great today. I am so appreciate the care every single staff member provided.
Hello I had a fantastic experience at this hospital. They provided excellent care for my cat and comprehensive testing after finding out he had urinary frequency and pain. They were very helpful and their urgent care is fantastic and it was well worth the money. I will go to them for future needs for my animals.
DoveLewis was very communicative and patient when our dog was hospitalized for two days. That went a long way and we felt our dog received high quality care and treatment during a very stressful time.
This morning my already ill cat decided that today was his last day with us. After attempting to call my vet who was unresponsive and not caring I turned to Google and found Dove Lewis. The care team was incredibly comforting and understanding of this hard time. Once I arrived they immediately came out to grab my poor kitty and have him checked by a doctor, then instructed me to come inside. The whole check in process was so fast and simple. My poor Charlie was struggling to breathe and they immediately gave me some time with him. The room was dim with lights from multiple small sources that brought some peace into the difficult situation. They administered oxygen to make my kitty more comfortable as well as wrapped him carefully up in a warm fuzzy blanket. It was truly heart warming to see how they treated my sweet baby with such care and love. Once it was time the process was quick and relaxing for everyone involved, and the doctor was very understanding and proactive about walking me through what she was doing. My vet quoted me for 300+ dollars to euthanize which is something I could not afford, whereas here my relief sky rocketed when they informed me that their were a donor funded program that could cover the cost. I couldn’t have imagined a better place or way to say goodbye to my baby boy. Thank you Dove Lewis, the care and respect you have for suffering animals shows through the work you did with me and my family today.
I want to thank Dove lewis for showing me and my partner so much kindness when we brought in our dog. They took care of her well even though she gets anxious I appreciate them take the time to understand our needs. Thank you so much!
We had an emergency splenectomy for one our dogs. Dr. Reminga took the time to talk with us and answer any questions we had. She was very kind and informative. Dr. Herold not only left us a message but sent us an email as well regarding our dogs biopsy results. We are thankful to have our boy with us today and he is healing well. So many places are short staffed. Thank you to these great doctors at Dove Lewis Veterinary. Thank you to the all the staff and doctors. Thank you Dove Lewis!
Sincerely,
Tim and Heather O'Connor
I can’t thank their staff enough! They’re so kind and helpful! Update: My cat had to return a couple days later and these vets went above and beyond! I can't thank them enough. They've helped me so much. Worth the wait to see them. THANKS DOVE LEWIS!
<3,
Ziggy and Juno
My family has leaned on the expertise of Dove Lewis several times over the years. Every time we have had an animal emergency, we've tried multiple ERs and ended up at Dove Lewis because of responsiveness and, every time, we have felt enormous relief knowing our fur-babies were in the best of care and have utterly appreciated the warmth and kindness we've received from the whole team - from phone triage, to front line, to technician, to doctor and follow-up. We are so thankful to have an animal hospital like Dove Lewis in Portland!
My regular vet recommended an echocardiogram for my 15 y/o cat who has a heart murmur. I called around to get quotes and DoveLewis was by far the cheapest option - amazing for an emergency pet hospital. I brought him in and was told it would be about an hour appointment. Within 20 minutes he was done (apparently he laid very still for the ultrasound). Another 5 minutes later the cardiologist was able to come and explain her findings to me. Every single staff member I dealt with was kind, interested, and professional. When I went to pay I was charged exactly the quote I was given over the phone a few weeks prior.
I also noticed them dealing with more emergency cases while I was waiting and everyone was calm, but quick to jump as soon as someone came in looking concerned with their pet. I can't recommend them enough. If you need emergency pet care or specialty services that your vet doesn't offer, they are well worth the money.
Had to put dog down here. Staff was caring and made sure we were escorted back ASAP. They gave us plenty of time to grieve and went through all of our options of what to do after euthanasia. They told us we could finish the payment later when we were ready and escorted us to the parking lot so that we wouldn’t have to pass the people in the lobby. They have long wait times because they’re so flooded with situations daily but they do know how to prioritize each one. Be kind to them for putting in all the time and effort to continue helping and saving pets
Well priced emergency care for our dachshund who ate an absorbent pad. We were seen quickly and all staff were empathetic and respectful.
Taking a pet to the ER is not a planned or fun experience. BUT Dove Lewis was such a great experience in our pups time of need. Our 1.5 year old puppy got a laceration on the ear, and though wait times were long, that was openly communicated - from the time we arrived, and throughout the time they were working on our pup. The cost of care was well communicated throughout the time they had him, and ended up being far less than we had anticipated. We are SO thankful to the staff at Dove Lewis!
Everyone was so kind and communicative when I brought my dog there for an emergency. I felt respected, acknowledged and that they would take care of my dog.
My one year old kitty, Dumpling, had a urinary tract issue that I was afraid would become urgent so I brought him in to Dove Lewis. I was referred by another 24-hour hospital that was closer to me as they were too busy and to be honest I’m glad I was! The staff was absolutely amazing from my first phone call at 11pm onward. Everyone was compassionate and extremely accommodating, taking time to thoroughly explain everything going on. The people working here care about you, but most importantly they care about your pets!
Dove Lewis was there when my dog had a health crisis and we were out of town. Our pet sitter brought our baby in on Christmas Day, and the staff was compassionate, communicative, caring, and 100% trauma informed. They kept us up to date on our dogs condition, stabilized her, and continued running tests until they were sure she had made a full recovery. We are so grateful to Dove Lewis.
I can't say enough great things about this animal hospital. They were polite and caring from the first interaction to the last. I have a leopard gecko and he was in need of immediate attention. I had no idea where to take him! They got him in within one hour of my call and spent two days caring for him. I felt such relief when he was in their hands. Dr. Golden took care of him the first day and Dr. Flaminio and Jamie continued his diagnosis and treatment plan the next. They were all fantastic and so knowledgeable. I am forever grateful for the attention and care they provided. Thank you for helping my little guy! I really appreciate every single person there and would highly recommend this hospital.
While the wait was very long, I was willing to wait forever as long as my baby was getting the care she needed. I completely can understand why due to the high quality care that I received, and witnessed so many other receive as well. I can’t imagine working in such a high stress environment, and would just love to express my gratitude and appreciation to all of the staff at DoveLewis. I genuinely do not know what I would have done if you all weren’t there for my hedgehog and I. Thank you so so much!
My wife and I love this place! We brought in our dog, who we were really worried about. They were able to see us quickly, and triaged our puppy, Hazel. After the vets looked at her,, they told us she was totally fine! Everyone was very communicative, and reassuring. They really eased our worrying, and I could tell how seriously they took our case. I can't thank them enough.
The wait times are extremely long right now for anything less than an emergency where your pet needs immediate attention and life support. My dog was vomiting and lethargic and we waited 8 hours to get checked in. However the team was great! The staff was friendly to me and my pet. They took X Rays of my dog and it turned out to be nothing serious. They went over the prices with me and had me pay in advance. I didn’t ask about payment plans so I don’t know if they offer them. My veterinarian was kind and professional. The only other thing is that when they take your pet in the back you’ll want to call every few hours and ask for an update. Otherwise they are so busy you won’t get one.
When my dog came out she was back to her happy self and even jumped up on the technician and tried to lick them. That speaks for itself in my opinion. They went over her medications with me and gave me a bag with everything I needed for her care and said I could come in again if anything changed. Happy dog and happy dog owner.
Just bring a book for the waiting room.
My pup had a non-critical orthopedic injury. This place is VERY busy but triage helped manage patients and families very well. We chose the “wait at home” option and we were contacted when she was able to come in. The staff was pleasant, professional and very helpful. They updated me on my Ruby’s status throughout the day. Thank you for caring for all the pets in Portland 24/7. I hope other patient families understand that this location is an ER/ICU and cares for critically ill animals, and if you have to wait a little longer (which during a pandemic with understaffing can be hours), it’s a good thing. Thank you to everyone who cared for my furchild.
Nothing short of extraordinary service. The sensitive care and compassion displayed by all of the staff was truly exceptional. Having had the heartbreaking decision of having to bring in my sixteen-year-old Indiegirl to be put down was a gut-wrenching decision. I expected a lot of things. I was prepared to be disappointed. I was prepared to be in a cold environment ect. Surely this group of wonderful people have been through this type of situation on numerous occasions over and over and over... however, like others have posted in here I was greeted with warmth. I was taken into a wonderful, private and soothing room and there I got to sit with my cat alone for as long as I needed and then I said goodbye. A week later I receive a card in the mail telling me that their thoughts are with me. When I have the means, or if you're reading this and you are thinking about donating, this is the place to do it. Thank you so much Dove Lewis, for all you do.
So caring and supportive. My cat received emergency surgery and the staff has been so supportive and caring to both me and my cat. We’ve had a few visits and the last was during a big snow- the lobby was packed with critical patients and they triaged them so well. Understandably, we had a wait as kitty was stable. It’s constant for the staff here, they are amazing!
My 13-yr. old cat had a rough time recovering from major surgery and had to be transported from the Veterinary Cancer & Surgery Specialist's facility to Dove Lewis for overnight monitoring. Dove Lewis took excellent care of her and kept in touch with me every step of the way to let me know how she was doing. They even emailed a photo of her at midnight so I could see she was awake and looking brighter.
My dog Toby was evaluated by Dr. Davis for Cushings disease. She did a comprehensive review of records and during our discussion realized that the results of a test done at my local vet hadn’t made it into their records. Luckily, I had a copy and with that information suggested a further test to get a definitive answer as to whether he had it or not. Results were communicated by email were conclusive that he was + for Cushings. Next steps were outlined and details of medicine to treat it were relayed via email. Pleasant experience all around.
Brought our older cat in who was having difficulty breathing and moving. We were seen immediately and met with the vet shortly after. The vet very kindly explained the prognosis was not good and everyone we met with thereafter was very helpful and compassionate as we had to put our pet down. We were very grateful to have such an incredible team help us through that very difficult time.
Dove Lewis saw our 9 year old aussie who was anemic and lethargic. Besides being beyond caring and professional, their expertise in diagnosing that he had potentially ingested rat poison was swift. The succinct and empathetic communications were so welcome at our time of distress. From the triage phone system, to the qr code check in, we were blown away by how much thought and energy went into honing systems to not only better serve clients, but serve more clients. The waiting room was packed and in the hours I was there, I witnessed more than 8 conversations between vets and owners, both positive/hopeful, and also devastating. I was struck by the professionalism and heart that seemed to go into those conversations - not to mention that these docs and techs are doing this day in and day out. Like our front line workers, these are unsung heroes in doing everything possible to get your pet back home with you.
Their financial structure is truly generous and comprehensive. Yes, it's scary expensive to have an animal in crisis, and to have to make medical
decisions in part based on finances. I am normally not one to blast suggestions into the void, but I can't implore everyone enough to buy pet insurance. Our Trupanion policy saved us 5K, allowed Dove Lewis to do everything in their power to help our dear Bandit, and removed our potential distress over making life/death decisions based on money.
Thank you Dove Lewis. You guys are amazing.
Our standard poodle developed GDV and needed emergency stomach surgery the day after Thanksgiving, and the staff at DoveLewis was amazing. The vets gave us a clear prognosis, told us the options, outlined the cost, and moved very quickly--saving his life. The cost was less than their low end of their estimate, which was a nice surprise as well. Couldn't recommend DoveLewis more highly.
Our dog Bailey has gone through a number of crises in his twelve years. DoveLewis provided excellent care that brought him back again. The staff is excellent and provided frequent communication on his status. I would use this animal hospital again.
We were so convinced that our dog was going to die. He had previously beat accute kidney failure and we were told it could come back. This was our first time at DoveLewis and our boy was super talkitive they ended up giving us the option to wait in a room where he would be calmer. They talked us through step by step even put us on a waiting list so we weren't there all night! Staff was super friendly and understanding. I don't know what else to say, prices were fair, staff was amazing. I wouldn't go anywhere else for a pet emergency!
We took our Alaskan Klee Kai into Dove Lewis to check on a "mass in her stomach". She had an ultrasound. The staff was on time, very polite, and quick to complete the scan. Only a few minutes after the scan the Imaging Dr came to explain the results. We were in and out in less than 1 hour!
We have always had good experiences with our pets using Dove Lewis. They are very busy and it does take some time to get your pet checked out, but once they are in the back being cared for and treated, they received excellent treatment and I got the updates handled with professionalism and compassion. They are not cheap, but it's an emergency hospital and I am very thankful they exist for my pets.
Dove Lewis was the the only emergency vet able to see my bunny with GI stasis on a weekend. The wait was long as to be expected but the care my bun received was great and reasonably priced. He got better within days and I’m so grateful! Thank you :)
My young dog suddenly got very sick in the middle of the night, when they were swamped at Dove Lewis. The vet tech on the phone was extremely kind and helpful. When we brought her in, we had to wait but she received compassionate care.
We recently had to take our golden retriever to Dove Lewis emergency. They were incredibly helpful and caring. They were extremely busy but took the time to look at our Rosey within 10 minutes of our arrival. I would strongly recommend Dove Lewis to anyone who will have to take their loved pet to an emergency center.
My mastiff is very reactive to vet visits. They were able to get a blood and urine sample from my dog. Banfield had tried many times and was not able to get any samples from my dog. They clearly did a good job being friendly and making sure my dog felt comfortable. Without these diagnostic tests we wouldn’t be able to move forward with her treatment. Thank you so much!
A melting pot of poor and rich people in the waiting room. All wanting their animal seen ASAP. A complicated balance of triage with a never ending stream of critical care animals walking in the door. Vets and vet technicians have a very high suicide rate as they navigate highly emotional charged animal owners.
Their responsibility is not how you are going to pay for services rendered. Plan ahead if you have a pet ...it was not raining when Noah built the Ark. Every psychology major should visit an emergency vet clinic for people interaction is extremely heightened and how these professionals deal with these people and have the patience .... I have no idea. These professionals and employees at every level are angels. Have patience and understanding and pretend being in their shoes while you wait.
In the end for us services were rendered our pet was saved. Thank you.
I loved being at DoveLewis overall. I took my cat there who has got a cold. He showed some signs of respiratory issues that got me to think that there is something serious. The only thing is that when I got there, it was too busy (overcrowded) and I was constantly put off for more urgent cases, which I understand because I was told that he was stable. I still got upset and worried about my cat at the end, he had to be isolated because URI is contagious. And my cat used to vomit from the stress before and situations like this are stressful for him. We waited for 14 hours (2 pm - 4 am) and were not even diagnosed yet! Then found another clinic that took us right away for diagnostics. I wish I was just told to find someone else, to be honest, it was really ok with me! I felt that there was a lack of transparency about the wait times and the updates on the patients. I see this as my mistake too because the guys actually explained that it would take longer than expected (I was estimated to wait for 2-4 hours) and suggested rescheduling. I decided to wait because the date was further than needed. People who work there seem to genuinely care about pets and people and treated patients with respect which I really appreciate, they worked really hard. I still would recommend this place but with only if your pet is in an extremely critical condition.
They saved my cat. Initially we thought she had a UTI but after failing to get a urine sample the Vet had a suspicion that the problem was something else entirely and she was right. Thanks to them I got Desi comfortable enough to schedule surgery with her regular vet. I never felt pressured into any of the care or tests that I received and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable and handled my Desi with so much care. Thank you for helping me save her life.
I brought my doxie Otis, to Dove Lewis in the middle of the night last week and they were so responsive and took such good care of Otis. After Dr. Natalie came in to tell me that Otis had a spinal injury and we had to make the tough decision, they were wonderful. It was a tough day for our family and they made it as comfortable as possible. I have a lot of respect for the techs, doctors and admin staff. They remained calm and collected, kind and helpful with so many pets needing help. Thank you for all of you have done!
Mid-pandemic is a hard time to give good vet services. But Dove Lewis is responding to the need. My cat was suddenly sick and they came through. It took several days to get it all straightened out, but I felt confident that they were doing everything they could to make her comfortable and safe. Office staff were helpful and patient, despite sometimes having lines out the door! Bless them for continuing their work in these challenging times.
DoveLewis is the place that you never want to end up at, but are thankful is there when you need them. I truly appreciate that they offer 24/7/365 pet care, and service for critically ill animals. It's a valuable and needed service, and the staff are always knowledgeable, professional, and kind despite the challenge of the patients they serve. The quality of care they provide is second to none, and more necessary than ever given the critical shortage of veterinary care currently in the area.
Dove Lewis is an iconic Portland institution, I just recently took my little buddy Archie there and they fixed him up and relieved all my worries. I've had my bud since he was 6 weeks old he's now 9 years old. I care more for him than I care about most humans, he's my kid. The people at Dove Lewis seem to understand exactly what he means to me. Even if things didn't work out as positively as they did, I wouldnt have blamed them they were there when nobody else was. If you are ever in a pickle like I was you can rely on Dove Lewis to be there. Patience is the key.
We had a great experience at DoveLewis when our puppy was extremely sick. Everyone who we interacted with was professional and gave us a lot of detailed information on what was going on with our pup. The costs and procedures were very clear and they answered all of our questions. I also loved that they sent us a picture when she had to stay overnight so we could see how she was doing.
Our diabetic cat, Rumble, was very sick upon being admitted to Dove Lewis. The veterinarian we had the initial consultation was very caring and professional. We were explained clearly the course of treatments needed for Rumble. Although we were concerned about the health status of Rumble, we felt he has the best chance of recovering by staying at the hospital. Over the course of the next several days, we had continuous communications with the medical staffs and apprised of Rumble’s status, which showed progress. After four days of stay, Rumble is finally well enough to be discharged. Rumble is doing well since and we are doing follow up with his vet upon advice from the hospital. In summary, we are very pleased with our experience at Dove Lewis.
Dove Lewis was a great help to me when my cat started bleeding when she needed to pee.
I was having a very stressful week and they were able to take a look at my cat and give me an urgent care appt. for the next day.
Which after knowing she was going to be ok. I was able to let some of the stress go from my body.
Every day is getting a little better.
The staff at DoveLewis was extremely friendly & patient. Much more affordable than expected; definitely reccomend for emergencies and after hours pet care
I’ve depended on Dove Lewis for emergency pet care for over 25 years but nowadays when it’s impossible to see even your own vet for an emergency, Dove Lewis is a critical resource as the only vet that accepts all emergencies and stayed open 24-7 during the pandemic.
In January my 2 year old Maltese fell down a flight of stairs, injuring her back and paralyzing her legs. Dove Lewis doctors paved the way for her to get an immediate CAT scan and successful surgery at VCA Northwest, the only facility in Portland that has a CAT scan machine. She is now romping around and enjoying life as before.
Last week she stopped eating and was presenting bloody stools. I pent the night at Dove Lewis waiting to see a doctor for what was diagnosed as “dietary indecrestion” or she ate something she shouldn’t…. Not a big deal and some probiotic pils and rice fixed her right up. I watched so many animals much more ill than she was triaged and put in line before her that I was willing to wait. What’s more if the triage indicates your pet is not in immediate danger, there is no charge and you can be put your name on a list to return for an appointment in a day or two or take your pet home.
Dove Lewis, in my opinion, fulfills the Hypocratic Oath for all animals and is the answer to a pet owner’s prayers. The staff, from the person who puts out snacks for anxious humans to the doctors are all caring, kind and very, very patient.
Thank you to all of the amazing staff at Dove. After a racoon attack, I didn't think my babies were going to make it. Dr. Peterson treated fritter and kept her stable and helped me get her eating again and Dr. Flaminio saved my baby Todd's life. I know were not in the clear yet but after finding out his trachea was severed I wasn't sure what the future held. At least for now I have my babies stable and at home with me you all have no idea how much it means to me that you took care of my babies and loved them as your own. To the ICu doctor over night, thank you for watching my baby through the night and keeping him on oxygen and monitoring him ❤️ im sorry i dont know your name or the amazing surgeons name who did Todds surgery and all of the loving technicians and assistants, but just know you all had a huge impact on the safety of my baby and you all make such a difference in the world! You are all phenomenal and loving people and I could not have asked for a better emergency team. After losing one of my babies in the attack I have been so heartbroken and you helped me keep the rest of my family together. Truly, you are amazing. So many people say they're "just ducks" and farm doctors treat them quickly but you did the most thorough care and you KNEW that they are my heart and soul. I know I cannot celebrate until everything is all clear in about 8 weeks post surgery and a long road to full recovery but seriously... thank you. Thank you so so much for everything you have done and continue to do for my babies!
To all the owners. Please remember that these babies are our family. For a large ER dove has some of the best prices I've seen with some of the most compassionate workers I have ever met. Trust me when I say they are emotionally affected by every single baby that goes through those doors ❤. Please remember that money is earnable but our animals lives are not. They need us and yes it may seem like a lot at first but their lives are worth it ❤
I rushed to Dove Lewis because my 13 year old puggle was presenting with a long lasting seizure. I was terrified because our closest emergency vet was without a doctor that evening and directed me to go straight to Dove Lewis. I flew there as fast as my little car tires would take me. We got in and that whisked him back to the back and started to stabilize him. We waited a little bit to go back and with the veterinarian but when we did they were wonderful. We were assured that he was ok and was having a Vestibular disease event and it would subside with time. They were caring and quick to make sure my dog was stabilized. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in a heart beat.
Rushed my cat in, with symptoms mimicking poison ingestion and stomach blockage - foaming mouth and vomiting. I knew it would be a long wait. This facility is extremely active. Some of the staff here are especially accomodating, even in the midst of high volume of patients/walk-ins/phone calls/and being paged. Special shout out to front-end staff, Mo and the brunette with the medium-long hair (I'm sorry I missed your name). I was getting distressed and you were all patient and accomodating. Even with the long waits and moments with no updates as I sat there, I highly appreciate the dedication placed on the other animals that needed help more urgently than my own did. If you decide to come here, you may need to verbally ask for a status update, but understand that it may be a wait depending on your pets' severity. If they are stable, they will prioritise more critical pets. Don't be afraid to calmly ask for accomodation of some sort to make your pet feel better and bring you assurance, they may be able to meet your request. At the end, my SO pressured me to discharge my cat before she had a chance to be officially examined (8 hours later), but she had stabilised. I am confident the Vets would have given her wonderful care, but I didn't get to experience that unfortunately. I think my cat expelled whatever was bothering her, and will take her to her primary doctor since it's not urgent. The technicians that worked on her were gentle and kind. Great facility, empathic staff, free coffee, but long waits if your loved one is not in critical need. I will come back if for any emergencies or false alarms and such. Also, on an unrelated note - PLEASE get your pets a good health insurance!!! It's a small monthly fee, sure, but could save you down the road for any surprise emergency visits!
When I called in the woman was kind, professional and helpful. When we arrived at the hospital the staff made my cat feel safe and their professionalism and kindness made me feel assured that my animal was in good hands. She was treated and I was able to bring her home in a satisfactory amount of time. Dove Lewis is a fantastic place. There isn't a rating high enough.
I've brought my babies in for 3 rabbit emergencies, 2 cases of G.I stasis and one really bad abscess. Each time the staff was amazingly compassionate and my pets received top quality care with excellent instruction for aftercare. It's hard to find other emergency vets that have doctors who treat exotics on hand but DoveLewis has been ready in the day and middle of the night whenever I've brought my buns in.
Dove Lewis epitomizes compassionate care with the highest quality care possible. The staff is top notch and the doctors are highly trained and skilled. I admire their ability to remain caring while delivering expert care under the most stressful and difficult emergencies. Dove Lewis has saved many of my pet family over the years in emergency situations and I am eternally thankful for their skilled service in saving my pets while also being compassionate and caring of my pet's needs.
Dove Lewis is a life saver in so many ways that truly defines the meaning of high quality compassionate emergency care. If it had not been for Dove Lewis, many in my pet family would not have made it through their emergencies to live long, happy and joyous lives.
I understand they are busy, but as of right now my dog has been there since before 9am this morning, the vet was done with her around 6:30pm, and I was told to wait for a call from discharge next. I was told they are busy as well and it might take a while. It's now four hours later and they aren't ready to let her leave any time soon (I was told to go home to wait after checking in twice). It feels like my dog is being held hostage with no explanation other than everybody is busy, and I highly doubt that no animal who came in after her hasn't been able to leave. I don't understand how it is taking so long, I already received the discharge papers via email hours ago.
This is extremely stressful for both my dog and me, and there is no reason for her to still be there. I already paid earlier so I really do not understand how it takes over four hours to give somebody their pet back after she's done being seen. She's probably starving after not eating last night or this morning and is now able to eat again. This is ridiculous. Hire more people if it's so insane you can't let your patients leave. I'm giving three stars and not less because her vet was really good.
UPDATE: I finally got her at midnight, almost six hours after they were done seeing her and she was ready for discharge, four hours after I received discharge papers by email, for a total of FIFTEEN HOURS at Dove Lewis for a 24hr stomach bug. The discharge call itself (the thing holding back me getting my dog) took about five minutes. Hours and hours of extra pointless waiting for my dog, alone in a scary place, for a five minute phone call.
I'm glad the vet was as fantastic as she was because it was really the only saving grace from this experience.
Dove Lewis provided top care to my pet during a recent visit. Although completely swamped by patients, the staff maintained a high level of professionalism, courtesy, knowledge. Yes, there was a wait time involved but I was kept apprised of the situation and given timelines. The staff has no way of knowing what crisis was coming in next and I feel they handled the situation to the very best of their ability. I hope to never need to use their services in the future but it is reassuring to know they are there should the need arise.
Our cat seemed to be in pain. There was no emergency vet available in Vancouver over the weekend. I called Dove Lewis not knowing if I had an emergency but they had me come right in. Turns out he had a life threatening bladder blockage. He was treated promptly and stayed for 2 nights. He might have died without this emergency service. The staff were professional and kind. Dr. Marshall gave an excellent summary of the problem and treatment. Staff updated us over the days. EXCELLENT CARE. THANKS.
Dove Lewis is the best place to take your pet for quality health care and emergency services. It is staffed by wonderful, caring people and they are highly qualified. They have the medical equipment and expertise to diagnose complex medical issues and provide quality care. Your pet will be in good hands at Dove Lewis
Thank you for your efforts with Fitzgerald The Kitty. We showed up with an immobile, trembling, panting, pain-wracked cat with a urinary obstruction, and came back the next day to retrieve a walking, meowing unobstructed best friend. We’re very grateful. Everyone from the intake personnel, to the techs and vets were so kind, informative and patient.
We're so grateful for the wonderful, caring, compassionate and competent staff at DoveLewis emergency animal hospital! Of course no one wants to be in a position where they NEED emergency veterinary services -- and when you do, I highly recommend going to DoveLewis. It's clear that all of their staff are dedicated to animal welfare. They do a great job explaining your pet's condition, the options for assessment, and treatment plans. I am so grateful that they're open and available to help even during the COVID pandemic.
Dove Lewis saved my dog's life and I am forever grateful for the entire staff there! During Covid every veterinarian and emergency veterinarian are short staffed, overworked, and hard to get into in a timely matter, but during an extremely difficult time for my family they were kind, caring and attentive to my dog's needs and never showed how much stress they must be under and without them he wouldn't have survived. They kept us informed with daily calls and emails and asked us for permission with every step of his care. I have seen complaints about the costs associated with care here but they were upfront with us about potential cost of treatment and actually came in under estimate, and were more affordable than his regular vet while also being better prepared for the care he needed. I hope your pet never needs it but in an emergency I highly recommend Dove Lewis.
The staff at Dove Lewis were so kind and helpful to our cat when she was brought in with a fever and in pain. That evening was very busy and they were wonderful with everyone. Very big thank you for your help and care.
Even though they were jammed with incoming clients they were calmly and orderly in taking in pets. Luckily they took my pet in ASAP since he wasn't breathing very well. My kitten was there pretty much all day but that's understandable considering they were slammed. Expect to be patient considering they're very busy. If you're on a tight schedule still expect to wait a while while they get through everyone. Price wise it wasn't bad. I didn't have pet insurance yet so was scared of the price point but they're clear on pricing before they do anything to your pet.
There are positives and negatives to Dove Lewis. I recently discovered my indoor cat had broken his arm, so we found ourselves in Dove Lewis on a Sunday evening after calling other places who said they’d likely refer to Dove Lewis anyway if it were broken. I’m grateful they have the technology and grateful our cat was stable enough not to be a priority compared to other patients. That said, there were some issues. Be prepared for a long wait. Long. If you’ve ever sat in your car with a cat with a broken arm and no pain meds for hours, you know what I mean. Every time estimate I was given ended up being several hours longer, with my cat being at Dove Lewis for 24 hours to get a cast and x-rays. The other issue was there was little transparency with pricing. I signed something saying they could provide $300-500 treatment, and it ended up being closer to $600 (not including the exam fee), and I was never asked if they could go beyond $500 and my receipt was not itemized, so no idea what sent it over. The other issue was my cat needed surgery and they quoted me an incredibly high number, and when I seemed shocked, the vet told me the humane society could help in these situations, which was a relief... until she told me it would involve relinquishing my pet and them rehoming him, which I was offended that was one of her first recommendations. Ultimately, they referred me to another vet hospital who was able to do surgery the next day for 1/3 of what Dove Lewis quoted me, and I’m grateful they were able to coordinate that because when I called around, places were telling me they could get him in in a month, which wasn’t going to work with his situation. Overall, I’m grateful they’re there and could coordinate care elsewhere, but hope I don’t find myself back there anytime soon.
My dog had a change in medical status that required surgery. Dove Lewis was the only emergency hospital that could see her quickly. Everyone else was out 2weeks or more. The doctors and staff were great. They kept in touch with me and gave me frequent updates on how she was doing as well as sending me photos of her at the clinic. The doctors answered all my questions thoroughly and I felt reassured that she was receiving the best care.
DoveLewis is one of the only 24/7 veterinary care
facilities that is still in full operation during COVID. That said, the wait is very long as people travel from hours away to receive treatment for their pets. The staff is incredibly patient and helpful despite constant stress and chaos. The estimate I received for my cat’s care was accurate and he was tended to well and is making a full recovery. Huge thanks to the entire staff at DoveLewis for operating under extreme circumstances and taking great care of our pets.
Our parrot poked her head in the freezer at the same time my husband was shutting the door which resulted in a very swollen eye and disorientation. It was 8pm, our avian vet was closed and we were terrified but thankfully Dove Lewis is not terribly far away. They took excellent care of her and did not take advantage if the situation and charge us exorbitant rates. We then find out they are non profit and help pets without families which is amazing. I am now a fan for life
Our 13 year old standard poodle Charlie was very ill, and Doctor Barbara Davis kept us informed every step of the way while she was admitted. We always felt that we had all of the information that was available when making decisions about tests and treatment, and that Charlie was in competent, compassionate hands. We aren't done with this journey, but believe that Dr Davis and the staff at Dove will always have her very best interest at heart.
I post this review with a heavy heart. And I apologize for the rambling nature, as you will read, last night I slept in my car in the Dove Lewis parking lot thinking my dog was in serious condition.
The talented and hardworking staff at Dove Lewis are clearly doing amazing work under really hard circumstances - saving the lives of countless loved animals. However, after our experience there last night I would like to offer what I hope is helpful constructive feedback.
We brought our older dog there in the early evening, when our normal vet was closed, because he was all of a sudden in what appeared to be extreme pain and couldn't stand or walk well. We could not tell whether it was an injury, digestive, or some other scary thing. After about 12 long hours at Dove Lewis, with poor communication, bad time estimates, and sleeping in our car, we finally took our dog elsewhere and got the diagnosis from our normal vet that he had simply pulled a muscle.
Per covid guidelines, everyone waits in their car in the Dove Lewis parking lot and calls the ER. The phone hold times are really long. And our call was dropped twice, putting us back at the beginning of the hold que. Our dog finally, after several hours, was taken inside by 2 very nice vet techs to check his vitals. We told them we don't want him kept for hours in a cage, as he hates that and we would rather have him in the car with us. After over an hour, we called again and were told they want to keep him for monitoring because he still had the same symptoms and we should just wait in our car all night until he was maybe seen by a vet in 8 to 10 hours. They said we couldn't keep him in the car with us.
At 7 am, I called again and was told he would still not be seen for many hours. So we asked them to bring him out so we could take him to our normal vet, who was about to open, where we were seen within minutes and got a diagnosis.
Needless to say, it was a horrible experience. It is obvious that the ER is flooded with serious patients and they are helping a lot of animals. However, I think two main things would have really helped:
First, we were never able to talk to an actual vet or vet tech. The people handling the phones were nice and friendly and clearly overwhelmed, and only had the vet tech's brief notes to go by. I think just a few more sentences of info would have helped us realize we needed to ask for our dog back instead of let him freak out in a cage all night long. For instance, info such as what they think might be wrong and why he needs professional monitoring would have really helped. Helped our stress level, and our ability to make an informed decision about our dog's care.
Second, pretty much every time estimate we were given was a dramatic underestimate. For example, we were told "we will be right out" to bring him in for checking vitals, but it was about 45 minutes before they came out.
With some better communication, our experience would have been a lot better. And I imagine it would have helped the many upset reviewers as well.
I had to take in my dog with diabetic ketoacidosis and while this is expensive to treat, the Dove Lewis team was great. Intake was smooth and the initial information and communication was great. Because of the cost and long term effects, they talked honestly and realistically about the situation, which I appreciated. During the 4 days he was in, I wish I had gotten more communication on his status, but when they did call, they took the time to explain everything and answer all my questions. They are a very busy place working with many animals and situations so I think they did the best one can expect. My pup is home and doing great now!
My french bulldog has IBD. After she had a routine dental clean and tooth extraction and about 5 hours after she got home, she had a lot of bloody diarrhea and was vocalizing whenever I pet her or tried to pick her up. I called ahead of time and they said to bring her in. (Note: they outsource their calls to vet techs across the country, so most likely you are not talking to a vet tech at this location when they are assessing if it is an emergency or not.) When I got there, tensions were high - a lot of grumpy pet owners with long wait times and the staff (very few because they are understaffed) were obviously stressed and working hard to keep everyone happy and do their jobs.
After about 5 hours, they were able to see my pup (aka check her vitals). The vet tech was incredible. Took the time to walk through my dog's medical history, take her vitals, and listen to my concerns. She was talking to my pup and soothing her. After assessing her condition, she was deemed stable and I was given two options - take her home or admit her - the wait time to *see* the doctor was anywhere between 4-12 hours, but it was hard to guess. I felt more comfortable bringing my stable pet home and calling her vet specialist in the morning to get more specialized care.
I really appreciated the patience and kindness I received from the vet tech. After nearly 5 hours of seeing truly horrible behavior from pet owners to staff (I completely understand tensions and emotions are high), I think the grace and humility the administrative staff showed was incredible. I saw many pets come in struggling to breathe or other high risk conditions and they were taken back immediately. They seemed to be doing the best they can.
Portland emergency vets (and regular vets) are SWAMPED. If you are a pet owner, you know this. I was told that this is the only 24 hr emergency vet that doesn't turn patients away - other emergency vets in the area, if they reach capacity, they have to turn *even the sickest pets* away at the door. I know the wait times are long, but there is nothing they can do. Based on my experience, I would definitely come back to DoveLewis in the future - but hopefully I don't have to :)
We had an unexpected emergency with our little pug, Millie. She was showing symptoms of an intestinal blockage which became progressively worse through the day on a Sunday. When we finally accepted that she needed to be seen we took her to the emergency vet hospital we have relied on in the past, but they were understaffed and just gave us phone numbers of other possible hospitals. Several others could not take us, either. When we explained the situation on the phone to DoveLewis they told us to get her right over and they would triage her within two hours. After the initial exam they agreed she needed to stay for further observation and testing, and sure enough a blockage showed up on ultrasound the next day and she had surgery that afternoon. The updates they gave me kept me informed and were greatly appreciated. Everyone I interacted with was calm, and treated both Millie and I with a sense of compassion and genuine care for Millie's best outcome. She has made a wonderful recovery. I would highly recommend DoveLewis as your first call if you are ever in the situation we found ourselves in last Sunday.
My cat, Petunia, had not peed in over 24 hours, and that can be fatal for a cat. The first emergency vet clinic we went to was "closed" (8 minutes earlier) and refused to see a cat that might die at any minute. Very, very upsetting. So we drove another hour to Dove Lewis. Had to wait a couple hours but they got her in, checked her out, had her overnight, called us three times in the middle of the night (!) to let us know how she was doing, and sent her home with medications. She is now fine. As fine as a cat that is almost 24 can be. Thank you, Dove Lewis, for saving her and treating her so well.
The caring professionals at Dove Lewis saved my dog's life! The care team was transparent about her condition and the financial cost of her care. The emergency happened when I was three states away on vacation. The Dove Lewis team kept me informed every step of the way. I'm grateful to this organization.
We had to bring our cat in for a urinary blockage later at night and the staff did such a great job making him comfortable, the vet saw him within 6 hours and called us right after. He stayed 2 nights and we’ve taken him back twice to have his bladder checked at no extra cost. Very impressed with the level of care. When we called for updates the staff was always very friendly and sympathetic. We’re so glad to have dove Lewis for emergency care.
We took our dog to Dove Lewis where an accurate diagnosis of his troubles was quickly made--despite the fact they were understaffed and being overwhelmed by pets with extremely critical problems. Over the years we have taken other dogs to them for treatment. As before, the treatment we received this time was caring and very professional. We are really happy Dove Lewis exists. They are the place to turn to when our vet is not available or when there is a life threatening problem.
I love this place. Easily the best vet I've ever been to. Took care of my elderly chihuahua and he is the healthiest and happiest I've ever seen him. It didn't break the bank for an er visit either. It was very affordable and they gave clear and concise instruction for when he's home with me. Id rate more stars if I could!
Trip 2: my pooch took a nasty fall a couple of days back. He was in really bad shape. Dove Lewis took him in and once again another wonderful trip. They did everything they could to make him comfortable and healthy. He is doing great now and I've once again got good instructions for care when I'm home!
I don’t think people realize this is an EMERGENCY ROOM! Pets with more serious conditions get seen first. They know what they are looking for! Ya we waited 11 hours before we could pick him up but that’s how any emergency rooms will be. The doctor called us as soon as he was seen, was amazing at explaining everything and our options! Prices weren’t as bad as expected! Hope we never have to come back but if we do I would be happy to bring my cats back here! They have free snacks for your disposal and a coffee/latte machine as well! Be kind to the people working at the front desk and they will be kind to you too! Thanks again!
They took me right away and were able to see my pup in a reasonable amount of time for his condition. They were very busy and it did take a long time to get my pup discharged. Overall, they were very cheap for an emergency vet and were able to see us in fast. Thank you DoveLewis team, keep up the good work.
Discovered on the weekend that my Scottie had a deep gash on her face, so we headed to Dove Lewis. Unfortunately, we ended up waiting three hours before she was seen by a triage tech. At that point, because her injury wasn’t immediately life-threatening, we went on a wait list. Our regular vet saw my dog on Monday and is caring for her, but Dove Lewis checked back every day until I confirmed she was being treated. Thank you, Dove Lewis, for being there 24/7.
I had to put my sweet baby boy cat Spartan to sleep on Dec 29 2017. They took him in immediately. His Urinary tract was crystalized. 50/50 chance he would make it. The cost would have been over 1000.00 with no guarantee he would make it. He was in horrible pain they immediately gave him pain medication. I had to make the heart beeaking decision to put hum to sleep. I can't afford over 1000.00. I understand it is an expensive procedure. I spent alot of tme saying good bye to my sweet baby boy Spartan. The staff were so kind and compassionate. They waived the cost of the visit since I am disabled and very low income. They gave me a memory book and info on grieving the loss of a pet. They are sending me a card with his paw prints and some snippets of his long beautiful fur. Thank you Dove Lewis I appreciate all of you. I will go to you in the future if needed.
They were SO KIND, gentle, patient, and just over all AMAZING with our rescue shelter dog. She had a tick, high anxiety, horrible nails, and was nipping and they fixed her right up with a ton of love and care.
We were visiting from out of town when our dog went into end of life heart failure. I called ahead to let them know we needed to bring him in to be euthanized and the person in the phone was very helpful and compassionate. My dog passed in the car ride over. When we arrived it was pretty obvious that they were quite busy as the parking on the street was full as was the parking lot. We called and notified them that we had arrived and the person I was talking to this time was also very kind, compassionate and very professional, they had a very calm soothing voice. The technicians that came to the car were kind. We were never rushed even though they were busy. The passing of a loved pet is so challenging and hard and they treated us with the exact TLC that we needed. Thank you for your kind compassionate assistance.
I just went through a very traumatic experience with my dog. She shattered both bones in one of her front legs and ended up needed emergency surgery to place a metal plate in her leg to fuse the bones back together. I honestly would have been lost without DoveLewis. They immediately came out, brought her inside, and got her on pain meds. They were extremely communicative and called me every step of the way. Even the surgeon called me three times the day of the surgery to keep me informed of her progress. I am so grateful for every staff member that took care of my dog while she was hospitalized because she is not an easy dog to deal with. They were kind, compassionate and informative and even called me back right away when I had questions the day after her surgery. They made a very traumatic situation as easy as they could and I am so appreciative of that. Thank you, DoveLewis!
I have the up most respect for the vets and staff at Dove Lewis! They were the most helpful and caring staff I have felt with. They care about your babies (pets) and it shows. The veterinarian called me several times to keep me updated! Absolutely love you guys and thank you!!!!
My dog was ill while I was out of town and family had to take her in for us. The staff were phenomenal with communication, explaining, treatment, and most importany patient and kind.
It’s for emergencies. So if your pet isn’t needing immediate care, you should expect to wait. But the care your pet receives is the best. These are critical care doctors and medical assistants. They know what they are doing. They saved my pet’s life. So the wait is worth it in the end.
We came here on a VERY busy Sunday and I have to say that this was the best experience we have ever had with a pet hospital. Everyone that we spoke with was transparent, empathetic, and professional. Our bill was much lower than we imagined (always a good surprise) and the pricing for an emergency room seems incredible reasonable. From the tech that I spoke to on the phone to the doctor that called me personally, I felt heard and cared for 100% of the time. Dove Lewis absolutely went above and beyond in terms of service, patient care, and human care!
I had to put my senior adopted cat down yesterday. I adopted him only 4 months ago and knew he had a heart murmur and was a stray I took him in, I was told by a vet clinic that he woulda died outside in the cold if I didn’t take him in. He taught me a lot about myself and I’m utterly heart broken. He suffered multiple seizures at home and in the car and right when I walked into the lobby I decided to euthanize him because I can no longer take care of him financially and he was in great pain , and dove Lewis immediately took us back to a very quiet and calming room and immediately sedated Charlie so he was out of pain and so we could say our goodbyes before he was put down , they gave us all the time I needed . They were beyond soft and sweet and validating and explained everything to me so thoroughly so I had no lingering questions. Yesterday was one of the hardest days I’ve ever had but the staff at dove Lewis made me feel really good and comforted and it would have been even harder for me if I didn’t connect with the staff like I did . I’m extremely grateful for everyone who helped me I’m a 17 years old with terrible Social anxiety and everyone made me feel very validated I’ll forever be greatful.
The service we were provided with for our cat "Shadow" was beyond awesome.
The entire staff was patient, professional and caring. They kept me updated every step of the way and took great care of our fur baby.
A great big Thank you too the wonderful people at Dove Lewis.
I am so impressed with the compassionate care Dove Lewis provides. When something wasn't right with our beloved dog and we couldn't get through to our normal vet (and 7 other veterinary offices we called), we showed up and were immediately triaged. Unfortunately the news was not good, and we needed to help him to the next life that night. The Dove Lewis staff (both front desk and medical team) treated us with incredible kindness the whole way through. They kept us informed, explained all our options, and told us what we needed to know to make the "impossible but compassionate decision" we needed to make (a direct quote from the phenomenal Dr. Farrell). They gave us all the time we needed in the beautiful comfort room and our moments there were filled with peace, despite the difficult circumstances. They made a very painful moment bearable and we are so grateful they were there.
Incredible staff, quiet front desk members who are sensitive to their surroundings... kind, helpful knowledgeable and reasonable. They always ask about procedures. I have been many times for a number of reasons. Including wildlife care, and pet loss. Recently it was for a tail amputation. The care and support has been so greatly appreciated. All in all Dove Lewis will always be my emergency go to vet clinic.
We took our dog to Dove Lewis & we were so impressed with the customer service & all of the people we encountered there. Very friendly & helpful. We saw Dr. Prouty in Neurology. Her & her team were great. They did a thorough exam & explained everything. We never felt rushed. Dr. Prouty spent a lot of time with us getting a complete history & discussing the issue our dog has been having. Would highly recommend Dr. Prouty & Dove Lewis.
Being the only 24/7 vet clinic here in Portland, I had to take my 6-month old puppy here when he fell severely ill in the middle of the night on a Sunday.
Yes, the wait time was long, and I was a little frustrated with how long it took to get phone updates from the vet. Sitting in my car until 4 AM sucked, but that wasn't anyone's fault. The folks at Dove Lewis are VERY busy, and they have to prioritize the most critical cases (which is what allowed them to take in my pup so quickly when I arrived).
Ultimately, all I cared about was getting my dog back safe, healthy, & alive. They were able to see him immediately, stabilize him & give him fluids to get him through the next 12 hours. I was SO RELIEVED to have had Dove Lewis, and am incredibly grateful they were there for me and my dog when we needed them.
Side note: you can use their restrooms in the lobby (even during COVID times) and they have free coffee!
We had to take our pup here because he was experiencing facial paralysis, and balance issues, most likely due to a inner ear infection. CRVS turned us away, saying he would need to be admitted but that they were completely over capacity. I was really disappointed that they simply turned an emergency away, as they have turned us away three times during the pandemic.
Dove Lewis didn't turn us away! We got there around 8 PM, and they came to get our pup within an hour and a half. He was in there for the whole night, and he pretty much was waiting to be evaluated by a Dr. for that whole time, but he was being monitored closely by the vet techs. I ended up being the one to call them for updates as I hadn't heard from them after they took him in for over two hours, but they were really busy and I understood. I ended up calling them every hour after that for updates. They were really kind and apologetic for the wait but assured me he was being monitored while waiting, and they even gave him my sweatshirt to have while he was waiting. At 3 AM they approved me to leave as a drop off, but I wanted to wait to see what the Dr. said.
Finally, he was seen by Dr. Bell around 5 AM. She was very thorough and spoke to me about the plan for over half an hour and answered every question I had. She even called three neurologists in the general area to discuss details of potentially getting an emergency MRI if things turned worse and sent over referrals to them all. She also found out when the neurologists would be on staff at each location. Thank you for being so thorough with my baby, even though he had to wait a while to be seen. He desperately needed the antibiotics and we are seeing some improvement, so hopefully it really is an inner ear infection. Yes the wait was long, but it's to be expected. Thank you!
Emma, my dear young Borzoi girl, needed attention to a deep wound to her leg. Dove Lewis was careful and attentive with Emma and gave her the best of care. Emma is healing at home now with her proper wound treatment, medicines and instructions to me to carry on through for the process of a complete and successful healing. How valuable it is to live in the community where Dove Lewis is located and serving. Without hesitation I recommend Dove Lewis for the care of any and all animals in the area. Thank You Dove Lewis.
I brought my cat in because he had blood in his urine. I was totally freaked out, and they were really kind and caring to us. They let me wait in the treatment room with him, and brought in a small litter box and bowl of water, in case he needed it. Gave us some meds to get him through it, and send medical records to our regular vet. I’d call them again, no hesitation.
Our sweet boy Bobo's experience and ours as well, at Dove Lewis specialty clinics for his abdominal ultrasound, was an ALL GOOD experience! Everyone was friendly, patient, informative... waiting area was quiet and clean and calm. The procedure was quick and we immediately talked to the doctor afterwards. It was easy and flawless and we were very pleased. Thank you so much Dove Lewis!!
We ended up taking our chow chow Buddha day after Thanksgiving because he hadn't eaten in a few days and having a hard time standing on his back legs. Although it was hours before he was seen. It didn't take long to hear back from them. We came inside talk to the vet that was with us about options and such and since we didn't want him in pain, we decided it was best to let him go. He was 14 . He lived a long good life. I miss miss him everyday . Thank you for taking such good care of our boy.
Loved this hospital!! Our 4 month old got out somehow and I found him on the porch with a broken leg. It was next to impossible to find someone to tend to him. Dove welcomed us in and our little guy is running around and happy again. They are not cheap but you get the best!!! Everyone was so kind and helpful. I am so grateful to them. they gave our kitty back a good life.
I just want to thank Dr. McGuire and her team of support staff who helped us say goodbye to our dog, Daisy. She was seen as a critical emergency and treated immediately upon our arrival. Not that it is the most important thing, but we were also appreciative of the transparent communication around the cost of her care and felt informed every step of the way, with no surprises. I understand how taxed veterinary professionals are right now and am so grateful for the extreme kindness and compassion we were shown tonight. The staff was kind, communicative, and patient with us as we said our goodbyes. Dr. McGuire was so tactful and thorough in her explanation of Daisy’s prognosis and treatment options and also incredibly supportive and understanding when we made the difficult decision to euthanize. I am so grateful for the entire team’s resilience and kindness during a time when all of us are stretched thin and worn down amidst a pandemic. Thank you so much for all that you do, and for taking such great care of us and our old girl. I feel very lucky to have had the support of such a wonderful team tonight.
Late on 9/12/2020, we came home to our 9month cat with a seemingly broken/dislocated front leg. She was crouched, couldn't run properly, and it was like her front leg was floppy. We rushed her to the emergency care and were told that it may be a 10 hour wait.
Well it turned out to be about 12 hours before she was seen. We anxiously waited in the car all night, super nervous because we didn't know what was going on.
Eventually we got a call from the vet with the exam results and the vet was very professional, kind, and responsive.
After all the waiting and not sleeping due to stress, it turned out our cat got a soft-tissue injury (no broken or dislocated bones!) and the wait time in the crate was actually the best thing that we could do for her.
She was able to come home the next day and she was OK. Her leg wasn't floppy anymore.
At first, I was really annoyed with the lack of information for 12 hours but I realized with covid plus the wildfires, that dove lewis was just super slammed with injured & sick animals.
They are the only ones open in Portland right now. So I understand why some of the workers were grumpy when we kept asking what is going on.
The only thing i wish they did was some sort of update, even if it is to tell us that our cat is still waiting to be seen. It would have been nice to know how many patients were in front of her so we had a scope of what was going on. We also didn't know if she had food or water.
But i understand that they are just slammed and super busy so it isn't possible.
If you're in Portland area, I'd recommend going to another vet clinic, not because this one is bad, but because there is seemingly a minimum wait time of 10 hours if your pet is in stable condition.
Otherwise, Dove Lewis was great and I will most likely take my pet back. The wait time was the worst part of it.
They were very helpful when we had to euthanize our beautiful beagle, Enya, due to bone cancer at 14 yrs. She was in so much pain and the staff was very accommodating and helpful. They were much more caring than Oregon Humane Society, who couldn't wait to kill our puppy long before she was ready. I recommend Dove Lewis always. They really care.
Words can’t express how very grateful I am to Dove Lewis for seeing me. It was an ER situation and they got me right in. The check in people were so great, the tech that got my kitty in was so kind. And last but certainly not least Dr. Susan DeGregory was amazing!! So empathetic, knowledgeable, helpful, and whatever other words there are to describe how great she is. I’m so thankful a and grateful for your help with my kitty Lynx. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ♥️
Dove Lewis to the rescue. They were able to help my cat in an emergency and because of them my little one is still here! Thanks Dove Lewis, every time I've needed you, you've been there. I'll still never forget finding a squirrel years ago in the middle of the road struggling to hold on after being hit. Y'all were the best in that situation as well!
I brought my 11 week old kitten Luca at around 9 PM two nights ago for diarrhea. I felt very safe as they have a security guard on duty! It was a long wait before he could be triaged and have his vitals checked due to other severe cases arriving! After he was triaged, they offered a drop off or I could take him home and wait for a call back! I decided to take him home. We were able to find a vet and get a sooner appointment. they checked up on Luca and asked if I wanted to stay in the queue. The fact that I wasn’t turned down and they didn’t reject to seeing him and made the effort to check up on him made all the difference. A lot of the other places would even triage my baby and check that he was in stable condition till they could have him see a vet or I could find somewhere to get him a little sooner! This place is well worth the drive from where I live!
Sadly , our long time fur baby had to be put to rest on 10-27-21 .. everyone at DoveLewis was so extremely kind & caring towards both our fur baby & our family during it all . They worked with us by working out a payment plan towards the cost of his care & his after care . They sent a hand written condolence card to our family in the mail . They were just so very caring & kind . Our heart hurts & we will always miss our Pinky Doodles , but I am so grateful to have had the care of DoveLewis during this difficult time.
The veterinary staff at Dove Lewis is fantastic. They were calm, informative, but most of all, they took great care of my pet. They are a 24hr Emergency Animal Hospital. Immediately, expensive comes to mind. They offered me several different options for care and they never once made me feel like I needed to take the maximum option. It cost just bit more than a visit to our regular vet and it was well worth it.
I have absolutely zero complaints! Our experience was wonderful despite the reason for being there. Our kitty spent two nights in the ICU and while it was almost unbearable for us not being able to see her while she was sick, DoveLewis sent photos regularly, called with updates, and we could also call at any time to hear how she was which helped so much.
We can’t thank your team enough for taking incredible care of our baby! Every employee we interacted with was so sweet and you could tell they genuinely cared.
We’re so happy to her healthy and back home with us, and we owe it to you. Thank you a million!
These days it's nearly impossible to see a vet, Dove Lewis is the only place who would see my dog in our time of need.. They quickly examined my dog free of charge, witch I wasn't expecting. The vet was a sweetheart. My dog liked her and she normally doesn't let people close to her...
I have to update this a bit, I ended up bringing my dog in to dove lewis 3 times, when I first contacted them I expressed my concerns about my dog having what I had figured to be a pyometra, 2 times I was told she was just in heat and I had nothing to worry about. If it was pyo the discharge would be a different color and more mucous..ish? Mucousy? Anyhow, I ended up going a third time (to be clear, they helped me out when everywhere else turned me away) but they ended up finding exactly what I told them, pyometra.. they offered to do the surgery for 5-6000$ witch I wasn't prepared for, they were kind enough to refer me to a place that did the surgery 2 days later for less than half what they quoted me. but at that point my poor dog suffered while this infection grew in her for over 2 months.. so all in all I have somewhat mixed feelings
They are usually quite busy, but they do an excellent job of triage and are flexible, timely, and considerate once you are up to be seen. They provided top notch care for my cat and despite being slammed they took the time to contact me and ask my preference on treatment (stitches or suturing glue for a tail laceration). I had to bring my pet back later due to an adverse reaction to the sedative and they waived the visit fee since it was a re-check. They got her in quickly the second time since it was later in the evening. I’m so grateful they’re open 24 hours/day!
I took my dog to Dove Bc her vet through wellhaven was booked up and couldn’t see her. It was a Saturday and she wouldn’t be seen until Monday. Worried for my pets potentially broken leg and profusely bleeding wound. The only place here is CRV Emergency (Vancouver) and they were seeing only life threatening injuries. I’m tears I called my vet back and they said to call Dove. I spent most of the day waiting in the lobby with my dog. Staff was helpful and hard at work, taking care of lots of pets. It was a very busy day and my pet was not actually seen until the next day. They had many life threatening situations that kept bumping my dog out of her spot. They admitted her and Staff kept her pain under control and her stable overnight. She was taken good care of. If you take your pet here there may be a very long wait, however, they are the only place open to take pets even if extremely busy. They do not turn away pets from care. Also, they have affordable payment options for those who are looking for help paying medical costs. I’m grateful Dove is here for our pets. More people need to be aware of pets eating things.. weed, pills and plants also cheap toys to chew and then taking them into ER worried they ingested something. This bumps real injuries out of the way. Leaving pets hurt and waiting long periods of time. Treat your pets well and love them! If people were more aware of their pets behavior and what they leave laying around our wait time would have been much less.
Highly professional staff. Excellent care for your critically ill pet. Regular updates and sympathetic employees. The doctors are exceptionally trained and even better than our regular vet. We have every confidence our pet had the best care available.
I had to take my poor cat in to the emergency room because he got into some lily leaves and poisoned himself. Although they were unable to save my baby, the staff were kind, compassionate, and demonstrated that they really care about their patients and their parents.
I’ve had 4 experiences with dove Lewis in the last year and a half. 2 of those visits were to put both of our cats to sleep a month apart from one another. Our encounters with all of the staff and vets were amazing. They were very kind and sensitive to it being a difficult time for us and accommodated us immediately. It was as good an experience I think we could have had given the circumstances. The last visit was a bit more painful due to COVID restrictions, an influx in patients and longer wait times. We weren’t a priority patient so we waited a total of about 9 hours for our dog to be taken inside and then picked up later in the evening.
I hope to god I don’t have to deal with another traumatic ER run anytime soon but if I do - I hope I’m close to Dove Lewis.
DoveLewis is the best emergency vet! In addition to excellent care, the staff is calm and efficient. During the most difficult time for a pet owner, they maintain professionalism and create a peaceful environment.
I can't say enough positive things about our experience at Dove Lewis. Our pug, Frank, had emergency surgery in December 2020 to open his airways. Something like that is such a terrifying and scary experience but he was so well cared for and loved through the entire process and the communication with us was fantastic. When we revisited Dove Lewis again in March 2022 to see the Dermatology Specialist, Dr. Zabel, we were greeted with so many staff who remembered Frank and came up to give him their love. Dr. Zabel and her team far exceeded our expectations, providing comprehensive and clear explanation of Frankie's issues, immediate diagnostic tests and results, and a realistic set of options for his treatment. Having all of the resources on hand to meet all of our needs made the experience streamlined and straightforward. Dr. Zabel was so connecting and down to earth, she instantly put my fears at ease. I know our Frank is in great hands at Dove Lewis!
I brought in my little kitten to receive overnight care before his surgery appointment at another location because he was attacked by a big dog while in the care of a different vet. The staff at Dovelewis was quick to help and already had the referral from his vet to take him in. We were updated on his care and told upon picking him up the next morning, that he was so sweet and such a good boy while there.
DoveLewis is basically a hospital full of superheroes (if superheroes were actually just incredibly competent staff). What they do is emotionally and physically taxing, they deal with people and pets on some of their worst days/nights and are still kind, professional, sensitive, and thorough. Pet emergencies are rarely inexpensive, but they are conscious and considerate of financial constraints. They take great care of the animals and set realistic and reasonable expectations with the humans.
When i came in the staff made me feel very welcomed .. felt all options were on the table to help me and my pet . !
I can not possibly say enough great things about Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital!
My almost 14 year old Toy Poodle, Teddy, was attacked at the dog park in Sandy. The other dog was a Husky, who had just come from the pound, and her incisor went through my babies abdomen to his organs.
My daughter took us to Dove Lewis, where he was seen immediately by a wonderfully caring, understanding and supportive doctor.
The doctor said Teddy could have surgery, which he may or may not have survived.
But at almost 14, he had other medical issues. Eyesight and hearing going quickly, severe chronic pancreatitis with stage 3 renal failure. Had pain at times, being treated with medication, and wasn’t eating well. My regular Vet said he didn’t have long to live.
As heartbreaking as it was, i decided the kindest option for him would be euthanasia, as the doctor told me he was in severe pain at that time. Yet when brought to me, he positively butt-wiggled and despite the cone, managed to kiss me all over my face before collapsing into my arms.
The doctor gave my daughter and I time alone with Teddy, then he performed the euthanasia with me holding my fur baby in my arms. It went very well. My baby just went to sleep, and afterwards I held him for awhile.
This happened on October 15/16, 2020 and was one of the most devastating events in my life. I still cry just looking at his picture. If fact, I’m sobbing as I type this. But for the care, kindness, skill, understanding and warm hearts of the doctor and rest of the staff, it would have been so much worse.
The doctor also helped me decide, since I wanted to have Teddy cremated, what my options were. That was awesome, so I didn’t have to search through Google. I now have Teddy’s ashes at home, which brings some comfort.
I definitely recommend Dove Lewis to care for your beloved pets. They’re awesome ♥️
I had such a great experience here. I brought in a guinea pig that I had recently found and had little to no information on. They did a great job of evaluating her right away to see if she was urgent or if she could wait. Once they found that she was stable they brought her to the back where she waited. It's important to remember that this is an emergency clinic, so urgent patients will always go before stable ones, and it does get quite busy. I was there for about 7 hours total, whenever I asked for an update they quickly filled me in which was very nice. During my time there I was also able to see how kind they were to everyone that walked in the doors. There were numerous encounters that I witnessed that I was in awe of how well they handled it. Their kindness, understanding, and love for every animal that walked in was visible. Once we saw the doctor he did a great job explaining what he had found and explaining costs with me. When I told him I was on a tight budget he walked me through all of the ways I could cut costs while still saving her life. Overall, I would highly recommend DoveLewis to anyone :)
On the second worst day to get a vet, New Years Day, my 14 year old Shih Tzu male tore a claw off of his right rear foot on a walk. We called everyone we could but with no luck. Meanwhile he bleed so bad his lips and tung turned almost white. We finally got a triage nurse at Dove Lewis and she said bring him in right now. If it hadn’t been for you wonderful people we would have lost our boy. We just can’t thank you enough. Keep up the good work. Tim & Sandy
We came in late at night when all other animal emergency clinics were full. Dove Lewis keeps going and keeps helping no matter how busy it gets. We waited a long time, but we got the help we needed, and watched while they helped dozens of other critically ill or injured animals all night long. They were always kind and respectful to all visitors, even as busy and stressed as they must have been.
You guys are awesome. Keep up the good work. I believe in the Dove Team. The veterinary world is hurting and you guys are showing up. Thank you.
