Dr. Schneider is the best. Great, kind and attentive staff too. I really feel like they won't try to overcharge you it invent tests to upcharge you. One downside is that since Covid the no-appointment policy has gone away. Hope we can get that back!

After reading all of the positive reviews, I selected Jefferson Animal Hospital for my dog Chester's health care provider. After a trip to the Emergency Vet, I contacted JAH to see if Chester could be seen as he was still struggling and in a lot of pain. Dr. White gave Chester a thorough exam and identified health issues that were missed. He was in pain and his health was very poor. The team was very caring and compassionate as I had to say goodbye to my handsome boy.

Really wonderful staff. My animals and I have always been treated with respect here. Dr. Schneider is really incredible and very considerate. I took both my cats to Jefferson Animal Hospital this week for check ups and UTI/dental concerns. The clinic got me appointment options for as soon as next day and pricing was upfront and fair. ($45 for regular visit / $65 for emergency visits). They let me know how much urinary testing was before I took them in, and quoted me an extremely fair price for a cleaning. They asked a lot of questions about the medical history of my cats than anyone else and even asked for past records. I have never had a vet do that before! All their associates were great to work with and clearly cared for the cats. I had concerns about one of my cat's teeth, and after the examination, they were honest and let me know he does not have too many teeth and that any dental work would be pretty arbitrary. They offered to do the dental work anyway, but also gave me the option to monitor him and schedule dental work if it became necessary later. (We went with the second option.) Overall, these guys are fair and honest. I will be back for all my vet needs!

The staff is friendly here. Price is reasonable. $300 starting price for a teeth cleaning, about $75 per tooth extraction. The downside is they are never on time. Pre pandemic they did not take appointments. Currently they take appointments and curbside pickup of your pet. I have been to appointments where my pet was not seen until over an hour past my scheduled time.

Dr. White & Dr. Schneider are truly the best vets we've ever encountered and they have an awesome staff as well. After a some unpleasant experiences at other veterinary care facilities, this is the only place we truly trust bringing our fur babies to as we know they will receive compassionate and quality care at every visit--and without us going bankrupt in the process! Everything was well coordinated to get my dog in for her exam and back to me quickly. The staff was very friendly. The veterinarian provided excellent communication and advice.. My dog is afraid of strangers and she was comfortable with Tim and didn't come back as stressed as she usually does when dealing with new people. It also was also reasonably priced. We finally have a local vet and we're pleased with our decision.

We've been to Jefferson Animal Hospital half a dozen times since moving to St. Louis for check-ups, refills, and to treat illnesses for our three (sometimes complicated!) kitties, Punkin, Galois, and Georg. The technicians are always so kind and great at communicating with the veterinarians. Aariona is especially great - always friendly, chatty, and it's clear that she loves kitties :). Dr. Schneider is incredibly involved in care and treatment and is happy to chat about options in a non-judgmental way and without the feeling that you're under a time crunch. We loved our vet back at home in Arkansas, but I think we love Jefferson Animal Hospital more! Thank you guys so much for your hard work. Punk, Big G, and Little G say hello!

They are outstanding, with the most caring, polite, and courteous employees I have ever come across. These people are nice! At my former vet, they used to take urine and fecal samples from my dog, then they told me to do it. They used to cut my dogs’ nails, then they told me they couldn’t. The services kept going down while the prices kept going up. These people are nice to me and to my dogs. They cut nails and called my German Shepherd a “sweetheart”. I DON’T call her that. Because they treat my dogs with love, I LOVE them!

Straightforward, affordable care. Dr. Schneider is very clear with explaining everything that is being done for the care of my cats. She doesn’t over prescribe or suggest treatments unless they are necessary. She is practical and responsive to the needs of the animals and their owners. One day f my cats was a feral street cat for years and Jefferson Animal Hospital has given him wonderful care even though he is hard to handle. After 8 years on the streets he is finally finding indoors to be a bit easier. Dr. Schneider has kept him well and disease free which made his transition to indoor life worry free.

Update 2/5/21: Although there are sometimes issues with this vet running behind schedule, I really cannot say enough great things about how communicative and caring they are for your pets. My dog had surgery to have two tumors removed and Dr. White has been quick to respond to my multiple concerns I've had about his sutures, allowing me to send in photos and review them over a phone call more than once. The quality of care here is phenomenal and certainly makes the wait times worth it if you can manage. They have not once made me feel like I'm being a burden or overly concerned, and I sincerely appreciate it. On top of all of that, my dog is reactive to strangers, and everyone here is always so cautious, understanding, and kind to help out how they can to keep his vet trips safe and manageable. Original: I'm extremely frustrated. Today I took an hour and a half off of work to wait in a parking lot for 45 minutes after checking in. I called before leaving to make sure they didn't lose my check in and was told that they had not by a polite woman who was very apologetic. Unfortunately she wasn't able to give me an idea of how soon my dog would be seen and I had to get back to work, so I had to cancel my appointment. Now I have a dog that's still itchy and have to decide whether or not I find a new vet when I had previously really been happy with this one. Juding by some other reviews, it looks like I'm not the first person that has had a long wait. I want to take my dog here, but I am seeing that may not be realistic working a 9-5. Still giving 3 stars because I had a great experience with my other dog when he was the first appointment of the day and Dr. White was wonderful.

I had to put our beloved family dog down last week and the staff took amazing care of not only Ace but myself. The staff are all amazing people and are extremely good with animals. My dog Banjo has a hard time visiting the vet but she always comes out with her tail wagging and totally chill. We stopped taking her to the groomer she was going to because of how rude they were after she pooped the grooming table. Jefferson animal hospital have never given us rude remarks or acted unprofessional and always left with my pup happy!

Good animal hospital for simple emergencies or if animal isn't feeling well. But anything advanced that requires high technology don't bother going to this place. I once took my maltese there when she was having some type of brain episode. They took her from my arms to the back. 15 seconds later they came right back out and handed her back to me. Told me that they couldn't help me there. That they didn't know what the problem was. I begged them to do something, like a shot or something to calm her down. They refused and said once again they couldn't help and ask me to leave. Got back outside and it was scorching hot. Got to my car and it wouldn't start. So I poured bottles of water over my dog to keep her cooled down. She started coming back to normal after 20 minutes of doing this. Got my car started as well. God must of been watching over us that day. She continues to have these unexplained episodes to this day.

I couldn't be happier with this practice. I came over from a big animal hospital west of this place, and am shocked at the contrast in service between the big place and Jefferson. (disclaimer - not all visits have been bad at the big place, not all have been great though) Dr. White and Dr. Schneider have been absolutely fantastic every time I've been to Jefferson. They are both very personable, and will take the time with you and your pet to explain any situation at hand, run through treatment options, and answer any questions that you might have. Dr. White and Dr. Schneider are reason enough alone to give this place five stars, but I don't want to detract from how awesome their staff is. Their vet techs are kind, caring, and more than happy to give you tips and tricks for follow up care. Ever try giving a 70lb meathead dog ear drops? They showed my girlfriend and me the way! (Well... a better way. ) The folks behind the front desk have been equally fantastic! They are very friendly, and will have you and your pet out of there in no time!

We began using Jefferson Animal Hospital in 2017, and haven't needed to look elsewhere. They are patient with our questions and kind to our beagle, even when he can be beagle-difficult. The vets are quick to return phone calls and the vet techs take their time alleviating our dog's anxiety and are knowledgeable about procedures and home care. I commend them for "figuring out" how to conduct appointments during COVID-19, and keeping an active Facebook. Prices are reasonable, transparent, and fair.

I have used Lemay animal hospital a place on Grand which I don’t remember their name and human society. Jefferson animal has been by far the best I’ve been to. They are efficient and low cost. I’ve been taking my animals there for at least 30 years. I’m usually in and out in about 30 minutes most times they do their very best to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Except when there has been an emergency with another animal which cannot be helped. But that would be the same with a humans doctor or hospital... the doctors and staff are very empathetic to their patients and their owners. They do not try to sell me treatment or shots or anything else I don’t need for their own financial gain... That in it self says a lot about them. I cannot say anything negative about them. I highly recommend them.🐶🐱🌹🌞

I had to have my dog put to sleep. Dr. Snyder was so gentle and loving and compassionate as long as I needed it to took. Having to do such a difficult thing to one that I love so much. They made it as easy and comfortable as possible. Not only do they take excellent care of Maggie but they make sure I was okay to and didn't rush me or make me feel uncomfortable in any way. I went there with a sick puppy so the ability to walk in was really nice and although they were not able to treat him (unfortunately it was parvo) they were quick in taking care of him and helping us find a place to take him. They were very sweet and professional in how they gave us such a devastating diagnosis and took care of as much of the situation as they could even being more than willing to call around and price treatments for us and even willing to talk to my insurance company without me asking. I couldn't have asked for a better staff to help us and the walk-in service and testing was about $50 if you are wondering that. I can't recommend this place enough

Clean, friendly, and comprehensive. They’re nearly empaths with the animals they care for, it’s impressive. You have to wait (no appointments) so be prepared to have your pet with you in the waiting room with multiple other animals for a bit (probably only a concern for my animal), but— I highly recommend this place. My pet and I have had nothing short of great care and service from them.

Update: After my review below, I was reached out to quickly and was able to get Cowboy worked in. The care given to our cat by Dr. White was excellent as usual, and Dr. White always does a great job of being thorough in both her examination and discussion with the humans about what’s going on. Thank you so much for taking care of Cowboy today! We have used Jefferson Animal hospital for two of our cats over the last 5 or so years and have always been happy with their care. I called today to make an appt for my cat Cowboy, and they said their next opening was Oct 8. When I asked if I had to wait that long since I think my cat has a UTI, they said they wouldn’t be able to get him in until Oct 8 still. They didn’t ask any questions regarding his symptoms or ask if my pet was a current patient there and who the pet was. Disappointing as I now need to find a new vet or take him to the emergency vet, because I certainly won’t make him wait for two weeks.

At this point I am disappointed with the service from the clinic.....The vet recommend a heart worm test and I never got a called back. To my dismay when I finally called two weeks later to check on the results it was Stage 2 positive.....the lame reason was because the fax machine didn't work......... unacceptable.......please just admit you dropped the ball.... because we all know there has to be a system in place just in case technology breaks down....they were somewhat sorry and not willing to adjust the price with the long term expensive care of the heartworm treatment....... unacceptable I

I have been to this hospital few times. Usually wait time is short though it is a walk in clinic. This time it was unusual and took a very long as some very sick animals had come in. Eventually got the vaccination done for my dog. The fee is moderate. The doctor and the assistant are patient and friendly. Will return here in future.

Love this place. Vets are great and prices are reasonable. Can have long waits though because it is walk in only, they don't make appointments except in cases of surgery or dental cleanings. That being said if you come when they first open or right after the lunch break you can normally get in and out pretty quick.

All of our dogs have received great care here. Don't let the building fool you (it's old and the wear shows) but we couldn't be happier with the care out guys get here. Bonus you can buy individual heartworm doses for your growing pup, no need to buy entire packs that they'll out grow in a month.

Great Veterinarians, they don't take appointments and the wait varies on how busy they are, the wait is worth it they give your Furr Babies all the attention they need. No fancy waiting room, but the front desk/office staff are great they make you feel welcome. The care of your pet is what it's all about. I'd give J.A.H. 10-stars if I could. My dog injured her neck and was in unbearable pain but my regular vet was closed that Saturday. Another vet center quoted $350 simply for the office visit and X-rays, NO MEDS INCLUDED. So I brought her here where Dr. Brianne Schneider saw her right away. After a thorough exam she then sedated, X-rayed and diagnosed her as having a pinched nerved. Dr. Schneider even texted the X-rays to a vet radiologist colleague who agreed with her. She gave us 3 types of meds and full instructions but that's not all. She also gave my other dog his Rabies, Parvo & Distemper shots. TOTAL COST: $210. What savings! My dog is fine and frisky again. There's no need to break the bank for excellent and affordable vet care; simply take your pet to Jefferson Animal Hospital. P.S. No foul odors either. I went to several areas...each smelled clean and fresh.

It was about a year ago but I took my kitten who I was very bonded to in because he had gotten into a fight and wasn't breathing right. The staff was very helpful and unfortunately I had to put him down. They were extremely kind and generous. They did not charge an office visit and about two weeks after putting my beloved stormy down I got a letter in the mail from them. They sent me a card and two sets of his paw prints. One for his front paws and one for his back paws. I never got a chance to go up there and thank them but I will be taking two of my pets in soon for shots and I'll thank them then. I trust this place with the life of all my pets and the care the doctors give is hardly seen anymore these days. This place touched me when I first went and it's the only place I'm ever gonna trust to take care of my pets. Thank you Jefferson Animal Clinic for your care and understanding in my time of loss and for helping my little baby go in peace instead of pain.

We visited with our dog Benny as he was having diarrhea and not feeling good. We went to Jefferson and were taken care of like family. Beethoven was treated so kindly and prescribed a couple medications to help. By 2 days later, he had done a 180 and Dr. Schneider called to check on him as well! All around great experience.

Still a great vet hospital prices still reasonable, Dr. Schneider and Dr. Rodis very caring and reasonable. Watch out for Dr. White. encourages unnecessary tests and charges hidden fees ($3.00 for a "dispensing fee") meaning an extra 3.00 to fill a prescription and is not listed on your receipt. Went in for vac's and a small problem with my dog and came out with a $200.00 bill and still no vac's. Have to go back for that. Blood tests showed nothing wrong with my dog. Ask for Dr. Schneider. Dr. White also wanted X-rays (at least$90.00) which we didn't need. The receptionist was embarrassed. Just be careful, it's not the hospital it used to be.
