Reviews of Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle
This clinic saved my dog.
They are not cheap but they are worth every penny, and you are getting the top of the top neurologists.
I brought my dog who was screaming in pain on a Friday, by midday he was in MRI, and by end of day he was having surgery. He had a disc in his neck compressing his spinal cord.
I was terrified, and they were so gentle with me and the tons of times I called to check on him.
He recovered there for 2 days and I called multiple times to check on him, and they were so caring and so detailed. I have never been away from him, and they were very understanding of that.
He is now almost 3 weeks out of surgery and he has not even done one yelp or squeak since they did this. He is recovering amazingly, and they were so skilled with their surgical work and incision.
If you had to pay for this type of surgery for a human it would be 100k, so just think about that when you think it is expensive.
I am so grateful for VSC, and I hope to never have to do this again, but if I did, I would take him back here in a heartbeat.
We have been going to this hospital for 3 years for our baby Hoagie, practically visiting every department and I am blown away by the knowledge, kindness and attention to detail from all staff. Dr Spoor is our neurologist, Dr Spann for internal medicine and most recently been working with Dr Boyle in ER. Everything is costly, but excellent care comes at a cost and they and my dog are worth every dollar.
Veterinary Specialty Center has now saved 2 of my elderly dogs from life threatening conditions. Years ago, I was referred for surgery with Dawg, who had a grapefruit sized tumor in her lung lobe. She underwent a lung lobectomy and spent a few days at VSC with a chest tube. With Dawg, I had pet insurance through Trupanion and VSC worked with them to take direct payment and I paid the remainder. It was convenient and Dawg lived for 2 more years after the surgery (which she was only given a year to 18 months). I am grateful for the extra time we got!
Fast forward to this last year when my 14 year old pitbull was having trouble breathing. We brought her to VSC as she was suspected to have laryngeal paralysis and surgery would be in her future. When we went to the initial appointment, social distancing measures were in place which was appreciated. The doctor and technician went over everything and we left with a plan to do surgery in the near future, maybe get past the holidays and go from there. However, Howlie began to decline quickly making the surgery more urgent. The surgery coordinator was very responsive and they were able to squeeze Howlie in for tie back surgery 2 days later. While we did not have insurance for Howlie, we were able to use Care Credit to pay for the procedure. VSC used the internet for payment through our phones so there was no need to stop at a desk to help mitigate any spread of COVID which we appreciated.
We are now 4 weeks past surgery and Howlie is doing so great. We appreciate all the care and great instruction VSC gave us to properly take care of our girl after her surgery. She was not even scared to go back for her recheck which surprised us as she is not a fan of the vet hospital in general.
Anytime my pets need surgery, we will head up to VSC because they have our confidence and trust.
We have never received such Stellar Service like we did with the Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle! We had to admit our Weimie, CoCo, last minute. They admitted her and tended to her ASAP. EVERY DOCTOR ON SITE CALLED US DAILY WITH UPDATES - they truly care! Every person we spoke with from the first point of contact up was Top Shelf! Though CoCo is still recovering, I believe they saved her life. We are so grateful to VSCS!
Stay Fabulous!
I am very impressed with Veterinary Speciality Center of Seattle. They were very communicative while my dog was under their care and took plenty of time to answer questions and explain his condition. The doctors and staff were amazing. I was very impressed with Dr. Lane. She was so caring and took plenty of time with my family and dog. I would definitely go there again for special and advanced care for one of my pets.
I have a service dog 🐕🦺 that’s a chocolate Labrador Retriever. This week she woke me up at 5am and to my horror her face was completely swollen, inflamed, and full of hives! When I turned on the light in my house I’ve been realized that the hives were also starting to spread through her body. I was terrified and called all of the veterinary ER hospitals in my area, but everyone kept telling me they couldn’t do anything and that they had no spots available for us. I had one ER veterinary hospital even behave rudely with me on the phone when they told me that it was “not their problem”. (Literal quote!!)
Eventually I happened to call this Lynwood vet ER hospital and they immediately found us a spot! Everyone that spoke to me at the hospital was immensely kind, patient, and comforting. honestly.. I have never met vet hospital staff that are so friendly and warm!!! This hospital saved us and since I have disabilities and cannot wait outside in a car due to pandemic rules, they assured me I could come into the lobby as an exception to their Covid-19’s new rules. As I waited inside in the lobby, everyone was very nice and they gave me frequent updates of how my dog was doing. Dr. Bridges helped us and she was SO NICE and SWEET!!! I was full of nerves and freaking out about my poor dog, but the hospital staff and Dr. bridges really help me feel better and stay calm. Eventually when they released my service dog safe to go back home, they were super good at explaining in detail what my instructions were for taking care of her in the next few days. Nobody rushed me out of there and everyone make sure that we were OK before we left. I really hope all veterinary hospitals learn from this place and emulate them! These folks rock. !!💚💚💚
I just had to put my kitty down yesterday. We rushed him to this hospital and was seen right away. We were treated with such compassion and patience while we made one of the hardest decisions. The vet stood with us while we said goodbye to our baby. We felt no pressure to rush our goodbye. She treated him with love and kindness. She kept petting him telling him he was a good boy. She walked us through the procedure and prepared us for what to expect.
An excellent choice if you have an out of normal business hours pet emergency. I would have not waited to see my vet the next morning had I been to this practice before. Excellent staff and care. My vet recommended this practice for ongoing evaluation of my dog and I would have no hesitation in using them again having experienced their high level and quality of service.
Please allow people into the building. Some of us drive hours and pay a lot of money to bring our pets to your hospital. At this point in the pandemic, clients need to be allowed into the building to have a conversation around their pets care. I understand clients can be challenging to deal with, especially in ER settings, I worked in veterinary ERs most my life. For some hospitals it's easier to do curbside but it felt really frustrating to not be able to have a conversation face to face with any of the staff.
These people are amazing. My dog was not doing well and they were at capacity one night and they still accepted him. Not only that but they had us out in less than 2 hours. They treated both my dog and me with respect and I could not appreciate them more! Definitely recommend.
Brought my Beagle in last night who literally inhaled her food and partially obstructed her airway. I'm grateful they were able to triage and care for her quickly despite being busy. They kept us updated when there was news; it was a huge load off our mind to hear when she finally coughed up the food stuck in her throat. Glad to have her back home.
Absolutely love this place. Bella ( my ESA Dog) was very sick. We had gone to multiple ERs which was a nightmare. We were also moving at this time back to Vegas. They were amazing. The Dr called us with updates and kept us in the loop. It’s a little pricey but worth it as they will try and get to the bottom of the issue. He even called on our move to see how Bella was doing! Thank you so much. I wanted to know you made a difference
I could not be more grateful for all the employees at VSC. My cat was suffering from a mystery illness on and off for months. My primary doctor was unable to determine what was wrong with her and I wasn’t able to get answers. I took my cat here to the emergency room when things took a turn for the worst and Dr. Ando in the ER reviewed all of her records, all the way back to when I adopted her. Dr. Ando’s assessment was amazingly thorough and at a following visit Dr Chapman walked through everything with me and made sure I understood all my options. Unfortunately, my cat was diagnosed with a grave illness, but I will always remember the kindness and compassion every employee showed me throughout the process. Thank you VSC for taking such good care of me and Peach ❤️
10 different Vets, ER's and Urgent Cares said "no room" for an 18 year old dog in severe distress - this place made room after a parking lot triage, and were straight forward and professional with a tough diagnosis. We are forever grateful.
This veterinary clinic is compassionate, professional and extremely caring. I highly recommend them to anyone who has a pet in need of the highest care. I am confident that my best friend Henry got the best care possible the moment I dropped him off. Dr. Masterson and the entire staff I interacted with took their time with me while I worked through the difficult decisions me and my family were facing. The cremation services and personal card I received touched my heart. Thank you.
I lost my best friend of 13 years last week and took her to this hospital in her last hours. They were responsive, quick and clear about what was going on. After quoting me for what a 3-day stay would cost, I asked that they be clear with me on her condition as I couldn't lose her in the hospital without being there. They told me they'd call back in 12 hours -- Ended up calling back in 3, stating that her condition was worsening and she was close to needing a ventilator. As heartbreaking as it was, they were honest instead of just drawing things out in order to be able to charge me more.
When I came back in, it was after a very hard decision was made speaking to the doctor. Everyone we talked to was very polite and sensitive, the doctor gave some kind words and I had a hand-signed card in the mail two days later. I also got Lola's ashes, noseprints and pawprints within a business week. I was really grateful to see them give this kind of attention and compassion to something so heavy.
Very sad to lose my buddy, but the process went more easily than it would've because of these folks. Thanks to you all.
I can't thank Dr. To and the staff enough. We took in our cat Apollo for an emergency and I truly believe he got the best care all the way to the end. The staff was very kind and honest during the whole process. Always down to answer every question we had and help us make the best decision for our little boy. We truly appreciate and would recommend this place in a heartbeat.
Best caring, kind and compassionate professionals work here. Very communicative and well informed service provider teams work here. Overall great service when you need extra help for your furry friend.
Dr Gokhale is a wonderful vet. He is gentle with my foster pup, very though and provides me with all the information needed to understand her condition. There are internal medicine vets closer but we choose to travel to Lynnwood for her to be treated by Dr Gokhale. Highly recommend him and VSC.
Our kitty Toby was so sick we thought he might die:(
After admitting Tobes and waiting for a response, we got a call from the Vet Polly Peterson. We discussed all his symptoms and she went to work with testing and observation. Dr. Peterson called us as soon as she was able to give us the results for his tests and went over a course of action to help Toby get better, including more specific tests that were pertinent to his specific case. She was so focused on Toby that we felt as if Toby was the only kitty in the hospital, even though they see a high number of emergent fur baby cases. After many thoughtful and informative conversations we all agreed on a plan of action on where and how to go on. We appreciated that even when Dr. Peterson was out of the office, Dr. Winter took the time to familiarize himself with Toby's case and made himself available for us when Toby had a scary episode on a Friday night. I know that emergency vet care is expensive but the team at VSC never performed any tests or any procedure without our consent and agreement of cost first. It'd be remiss of me not to mention the support staff at VSC. From the people who triaged and picked up our kitty from our car to the administrative people (wish I caught all their names), they are all professionals and it's obvious that they truly care about their clients and their people. They also have a team that is proficient in pet insurance billing, which is so nice when you're already preoccupied with your concern for your pet. It has been about a month since we've started working with VSC and I'm happy to say Toby is improving following all the recommendations made by Polly and VSC continues to follow up and adapt to anything that comes up to provide the best care and support we need in caring for our Tobes. Thank you, thank you.
P.S They also supported us earlier this year when our Cramer was suffering from kidney failure and that's why we came back <3
Thank you doctors for savings Ruthie’s life! She had an ulcer that perforated her stomach and was saved with emergency surgery. Thank you for your care and support!
We had a very positive experience here with the staff and care. Taking your dog, our everything to the ER is incredibly high stress, especially once we knew the prognosis wasn't going to be the doggie flu like we had hoped, but something serious and terminal (cancer). The staff was super upfront with the cost of everything and the vet was absolutely amazing. Each time she would make sure we fully understood what was going on, what our options were and what the options were going to cost. Never felt pressured or judged but very supported in a very compassionate way (for us and our dog Archie). Archie had to spend the night and we were comforted knowing that he had such excellent staff looking over him. Thank you so much. Highly recommend.
I had to rush my dog in there for bloated stomach and fluid in the chest. They were the only clinic in a 50 mile radius that would take my dog in. They were very quick to see us. The staff and the front desk lady. Ashley I believe her name is, was amazing. They were kind, professional, compassionate and understanding. The cost was actually very reasonable for everything my dog got done. The doctor was very good at communicating with me on a regular basis to update me on his condition and the next steps, and was very good at explaining to me what each step means and why it's important and gave me lots of options. I couldn't be more happy with my experience there. They made a very scary and stressful experience better.
Whoa! I was and still am blown away by the care my dog Mollie received. They were able to pinpoint a rare condition quickly and get her on the road to recovery. Both veterinarians who treated Mollie took the time to explain what they thought she had, how to properly diagnose it, and then what the treatment would be. A week later and I still receive thorough and thoughtful follow up calls from the vets on her results and further treatment plan.
YOU GUYS ROCK!
I would give them a billion stars if I could. Every single person we spoke with was lovely. Our dog was experiencing some scary symptoms and a few hours later we had him home. We paid the $600 deposit and held our breath.
Some info for future clients:
1. A deposit is normal. It covers the exam and immediate supportive care. They will work with your budget. They recommend testing because it gives them more information to accurately treat the pet. It is not for money.
>insurance reimburses YOU. The clinic needs payment at time of service. This is standard. As much as they love animals, they cannot work for free. They HAVE to get deposits or people don’t pay.
2. A wait time is normal. Vets are overworked, understaffed and underpaid. Radiographs may only take 20 minutes to do, but if you only have one machine and 20 animals, there will be a line. There is paperwork, constant phone calls, waiting for results, waiting for previous records, and every time someone calls for an update or arrives to drop off an animal or pick one up, it pulls someone off the floor.
>In the grand scheme of things… which is more important? Your pets life, or your personal comfort for 6 hours?
>also, lets say your animal comes in for a limp. Then another animal comes in and it has been hit by a car and is actively bleeding. Unfortunately, its going to be all hands on deck for the critical patient. Your pet is stable. Be glad that they don’t require immediate attention. Be glad that it may take a bit longer so another animal and their family can get the same care and support that you would want in that situation.
Their jobs take an emotional toll. Please remember they are just trying to help and BE KIND to them.
To absolutely everyone at this clinic, from doctors to techs to assistants to kennel to front desk to management… you are all wonderful. Thank you for all you do.. and thank you for helping our sweet boy, Zeke.
Dr. Gokhale provided care for my dog when no other specialist was available in the timeframe we needed. Another vet clinic had proposed putting her down after everything that we had tried. Veterinary Specialist Center of Seattle was able to get us in super quickly and provided exceptional care. They were honest with us, sharing which options were worth pursuing - and those that would not be worth the expense. They provided us with practical advice, prompt service and immediate results. Dr. Gokhale had a feeling about what the root cause would be (later validated by lab tests) and provided a prescription that ended up saving my dog's life. I appreciate his sense of urgency in seeing our pup to quick recovery.
Each time I've followed up with him, he's been extremely caring and genuinely invested in the success of his patients. We're really thankful we found him and trust his advice.
My dog wasn't feeling good, we were concerned he had bloat. VSC got him in quickly and kept me posted on everything that was going on. Turned out to just be a bad case of pancreatitis so the estimate and payment I made ended up being higher than necessary, they refunded me the difference without even asking. I hope I never have a pretty emergency again, but if I do this is where I'll be bringing my pets.
What an absolute relief my husband and I felt after receiving the BEST care from Dr. Nicholas Angelette.
We have been so stressed this week because our original vet (Juanita Hills Animal Hospital) not only sedated our dog, but after doing a "thorough exam" told us that there was "no foreign body in her eye" even though we could see the thing in her eye (for more details about that story see my review for them).
Although we had to wait a long time due to a busy emergency room, we not only got a phone call from the doctor himself, but he explained each and every step he was going to take and the estimated amount we would be paying at the end. He gave us realistic expectations as far as a time frame that our dog would receive care and called us when he had completed his procedure and REMOVED THE FOREIGN BODY that had been in her eye for almost a week now.
Thank you SO much Dr. Angelette for taking care of our sweet dog! We so appreciate it and will recommend you all to anyone who needs assistance!!
This is the first time I have written a review but I feel like with this business it’s vital. I took my young pup who (end result) broke his leg and the staff here was so warm and comforting. The Dr explained everything to me in detail and answered my silly mom questions with the utmost respect. The vet tech was amazing and my little boy was in the best care we have seen from an ER pet hospital. Thank you for taking such good care of my baby Dr Lee and Leslie. Much love from us all.
All of the staff were extremely kind and helpful. I took my cat in on an urgent basis and they were able to get us in quickly. Not only was my cat seen promptly but our entire visit was quite fast, given the circumstances. I don't feel that the quality of care was at all affected by the speed with which we were seen. Thank you, staff of VSC, for making an unpleasant situation bareable.
Highly recommend VSC for specialty vet care situations! We 1st went to VSC after our dachshund fell trying to jump onto bed & began to limp & have swelling in leg. It was Sunday, so no other vets were open. VSC has 24hr ER! They got us in quickly & did xray. Vet didn't think it looked fractured on xray, so they sent us home with pain meds & gave us option of paying to have radiologist look at xray. This is worth the extra money, because we got a call the next day that leg was broken & we needed to see orthopedic surgeon. We got in with Dr. Manashirova. Doc explained 3 options (2 surgical & 1 non-surgical). Surgical options were what was advised, but would cost thousands, so I opted for splinting leg & coming for weekly bandage changes for up to 16 weeks. The staff never made me feel bad for not choosing expensive surgery. I've been to other vets that have made me feel horrible for not paying for expensive services. Weekly bandage change fee was in $40 range. We tried stretching our visits out to over a week, but splints can cause wounds & skin conditions underneath & this began to occur. Each visit the vet tech took our dog back to the doc & they examined her, changed the bandage & came out to advise when we should come back next. At 12 weeks they determined risk of wounds was too great, so we discontinued splint & hoped for the best. Happy to report that our little dachshund prances around like she never had a broken leg!
Our 2nd experience at VSC was after our dog began having shortness of breath & passed out. She had a long standing murmur, so I suspected heart problems. Our local vet recommended a cardiologist. VSC has Dr. MacLean, who was wonderful! We had our dog get echocardiogram, ECG & BP done because that helps to determine the best treatment. The cardiology staff were very nice & laid out the cost prior to our visit. Our dachshund was prescribed 3 medications & is now stable. She's breathing normally & as active as she used to be! Thank you to all the staff at VSC! From everyone from front desk staff, vet techs, & veterinarians!
Thank you VSCS for your compassionate care! Our 12 year old girl, Julie, was diagnosed with lymphoma earlier this month. Because of her age, we opted not to put her through chemo therapy, but rather to care for her and keep her comfortable until her quality of life indicated it was time to let her go. When we got the diagnoses, we reached out to a hospice vet and made arrangements for an in home euthanasia, so that when the time came, all of the necessary arrangements for a peaceful in home transition would be in place.
But, as often happens, things did'nt go the way we had planned. Julie's health took a very sudden down turn on December 23rd, so we got ahold of our hospice vet and made a plan for her to arrive at 10:00am the next morning to perform the in home euthanasia. However, after staying up all night with our girl, trying to keep her comfortable and out of pain, it became obvious that our sweet companion was suffering.
So at 7am on Christmas Eve, my husband and I made the decision to call VSCS and to bring her in. She couldn't wait until 10am to go peacefully in our home. The folks on the phone were prompt and empathetic as they took the necessary information, and when we arrived at the hospital they met us at the car with a stretcher. The techs who transported her handled her with so much care and love that I immediately felt like we were in good hands. They set us up in a room that felt quiet and serene, which was definitely not what I was expecting from an emergency center.
The vet was so warm and compassionate. I believe his name was Dr. Balas, but I was so distraught that I can't recall for sure. His bedside manner with us and Julie was honestly some of the best I've ever experienced, and I've worked in the industry for 15 years. He gave Julie a sedative to help her relax, and then left us alone to say our goodbyes. We didn't feel rushed and I can't express how much that meant to us. The communication from everyone we came in contact with was stellar and the empathy we encountered was genuine.
All this to say, although this was not the way we wanted our girl to make the journey, our experience at VSCS was the next best thing to an in home goodbye. And that's saying a lot. The folks here surrounded a very sad chapter in our lives with compassion and kindness and we will always be thankful!
I was hesitant to go here because of the mixed reviews. I came to the conclusion that it honestly depends on the situation. However, I had an AMAZING experience for our visit two days ago.
My baby Tye (13 year old lab mix) was in need of an Ultrasound because he had really bad abdominal pain and our vet suspected liver masses. I was told to get to the hospital early around 6 or 7 in the morning to make sure Tye got checked in and was on the list to see the Radiologist whenever the doctor would be able to arrive. I did have to wait for the entire day and that was including the check in exam, waiting for the radiologist, and then discussing further steps or treatments. I did not mind the wait (even if it was all day) because my dog was not in need of emergency care and I was prepared to camp out in the parking lot for days. The staff could not have been more nice and helpful through this stressful process. While we were waiting for the Radiologist they allowed my dog to sit with me in the car after his check up was good. Those hours that we waited flew by because I was able to have my dog with me. Throughout the day if I had any questions the staff was always there to answer and even offered to let me use the bathroom because they knew I was waiting out there all day. The doctor in charge of Tye, I believe her name is Dr. Gomez, was above and beyond. She answered all my questions, provided lots of information, took amazing care of my Tye, and overall was just awesome throughout this experience.
This place does not get the justice it deserves through these reviews. As I said before, it truly does depend on the situation and when it comes to our furry babies we all are willing to do anything for them.
Currently we are still awaiting our results to see if Tye does have cancerous masses but I had to take time and write this review because I still cannot get over how great our experience was. Thank you Veterinary Speciality Center for your hard work and positive attitudes throughout these times!!
I had a specialty visit with an oncologist, Dr Hutchison (please forgive me if I spelled your name wrong) and everything went incredibly smoothly. From booking the appointment with a friendly and helpful front desk lady to a smooth curbside check in and great care. Their communication ahead of our appointment and then throughout the entire process really helped me understand and wrap my head around my dog's current condition and they were caring and informative in helping me make the best decision for my pet based on his quality of life and our family situation. I felt seen, heard, and cared for. Specialists aren't cheap but their prices were comparable to market prices and I felt like the value/care I got from our apt was worth every penny!
The folks who work here are tremendously caring. Dr Kim helped us during the very worst situation of our lives. I do not have enough words to describe both Dr Kim and/or the receptionist Devon. Dr Kim was gracious enough to allow us the time we needed to cuddle and love our precious furry baby boy ... well, almost all the time we needed. Of course, we'd much rather have been able to have brought him home with us.
If you're experiencing a pet (best friend, furry baby) emergency, THIS is where you honestly should go to have the best of treatment and to be able to trust leaving your lil angel in their knowledgeable and healing hands.
Can not say enough about the compassion we received in our time of need. Our poor Bosch was dying and they responded with quickness and kindness. We were given all the needed information to make our decision. Dr. Walker assured us we were making the right decision. They took care of all the things I was uncertain of after his passing. As a healthcare provider myself I highly recommend this great group of people.
What an experience for us! Wow! Our lil 2-yr old Maltese was admitted on an emergency basis earlier this week. The process was smooth and quick. EVERY SINGLE member of the team was professional, kind and empathetic. The Drs are all highly competent. I am a healthcare provider myself so I know when I encounter one that is skillful and caring. We are grateful for the care our lil Bella has received here. Dr. Douglas was Bella's ER doc; his communication was amazing. Dr. Spoor, neurologist, came highly recommended by Bella's Primary Care Vet and we feel blessed he was able to attend to our lil baby. Even though the location is a trek from our home, we will absolutely use the specialty services provided here. Only 2 minuses here - relatively small in the bigger scheme of things therefore I am not going to let this override the whole experience ....
1) They are expensive! Again, relatively speaking, after I saw the quality of care attached to the price tag, we can justify it.
2) I wish there was a better follow-up after the pt has been released, especially for a complicated case. We got A LOT of information regarding Bella's diagnoses and if I was not in the medical field myself, it would have been overwhelming. It would have been nice to receive a call within 24-hrs to see how the pt is doing and answer any further questions. Again, this kind of service would really put the cherry on top :)
Thank you VSC team - you guys rock!
My 4 yr old Lab Retriever started having some scary issues and I'm so happy I took him here! He's typically a highly anxious and reactive dog at the vet and they were so patient the whole process. One of the first places I have left feeling confident my dog was gonna be okay. Everyone was super nice and I couldn't have had a better experience!!
Mister Waggs received gold standard care during his stay with the neurology service at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. Dr. Peterson arranged seamless consultations with other specialists including surgery and radiology, and together, an elusive diagnosis was identified. Communication at every juncture was excellent. Highly recommend this group of heroes!
Very impressed with the oncology team at VSC. Dr. Hutchinsons team treated our dog like one of their own. From our initial appointment through treatment the team was very informative and compassionate. Right people working here. After a bad experience at our primary vet, it was such a relief to come here for treatment. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Glad they could care for our pet.
I was a new patient and we doesn't have an appointment and they took care of my pet, the Staff is very friendly. I highly recommend their services.
I've been here many times and I always forget to leave a review. All of my pets have been attended here at one point and I would absolutely say that this is an emergency clinic. We have our regular clinic and then we've come here for further treatment or urgent care.
My dog passed away from cancer a couple of years ago and I will forever be grateful for the treatment he received at this clinic.
There were several occasions where we had to visit for urgent care and this clinic is yet to let us down.
Treat this like you would a human hospital or ER. There are things and situations you can be assisted with at an everyday clinic that will be much more cheaper and of shorter wait time.
The staff have always been kind and caring. The way they have treated my pets will always be appreciated.
My cat has urinary issues related to a spinal cord deformation. She has had visits with neurology as well as a spinal MRI and ultrasound. I have been very happy with the service I have gotten at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle. They are extremely communicative, which is so important when you are not able to go into the hospital and when you are waiting anxiously to hear how things are going. I have been to several other pet ERs in the area and have had trouble getting information in a timely manner or at all. My experience with Dr. Peterson has been amazing. She is very professional and keeps you completely in the loop with very thorough explanations. Everyone I've talked to has been extremely friendly and helpful. I feel like my kitty is in great hands whenever I go to this location!
we were seeing Dr. Erich Spoor. I am extremely grateful for his service. I have a 12 yo dog with epilepsy and it got worse in a very strange and unusual way. Our regular vet could not do the diagnosis and sent us to the specialist. we started from neuro since she already had grand mal seizures and we hit the bull's eye. Dr Spoor diagnosed her correctly on the spot, provided extensive information during the consult and then stayed in touch via email in a prompt manner. I'm really really grateful! she is on meds now and they work like a charm. Excellent service all around, great managing of the appointments, professional specialty services. Thank you very much for your help!!!
My dog had some kind of vestibuler episode Dec 2nd, he is 16-17yo so not great. Very communicative staff, couldn't do much for him besides stabilize. Misdiagnosed some neck and back pain but wasn't a big deal.
My dog ended up having pancreatitis I found out later (from another animal hospital), month and a half later of subcutaneous fluids, syringe feeding, and anti-inflammatories, and he is back to normal. (By me)
Extremely expensive compared to some other animal hospitals for blood work and other common tasks.
I was very pleased with their surgical department. My six pound dog completely fractured her metatarsal bones and had to have a very complex and expensive surgery to repair it. Worth every penny. While the healing process was long, three months, we received excellent care from the surgical department and now my dog is back to walking like she did before the surgery. It’s amazing. She’s energetic and capable of doing the same length of walks and hikes that she did before (even though we are guarded to make sure she does not get another injury). Saying that I went into this healing process knowing that there was a possibility that she would be a tripod for the rest of her life, I am beyond ecstatic. 10/10 would recommend to parents of injured pets.
When my sweet cat became suddenly and terminally ill, a friend recommended that I take him to the Veterinary Specialty Center, even though it was 13 miles from my home in Seattle. I'm so glad that I did. The staff were incredibly compassionate, even though they were obviously busy and it was the middle of the night. They explained all the options and, at every step, gave me both time and space to think and make decisions. When I told the vet that cost was a concern for me, she explained a few more options for diagnostic tests, their costs, and their efficacy compared to the *best* (broader and more expensive) testing plan that she'd first recommended. Since I was able to consider those options in the context of other things that I knew about my cat, the bill ended up being much lower than originally quoted. At every step, I felt confident that the vet and the technician were knowledgeable and skilled. They also accommodated all the friends who had come to support me. I ultimately had to let my kitty go, and I was able to do that in a comfortable room, sitting on a couch with blankets and my cat in my arms. Again, the staff explained everything and allowed me as much time and space as I needed to say goodbye. I am so sad that he's gone, but I'm glad that he was here for his final moments.
We had such a positive experience with Dr. Spoor. He did such a great job with our French Bulldog going through a disc injury. We were so impressed with him all the way through. We weren't able to go in and be with our dog going through this with the pandemic - but after speaking with Dr. Spoor we had so much trust in him handling our dog. We were so thankful to have him during this time and would recommend him to anyone. Thank you Dr. Spoor and his team for taking such good care of our little one and getting his back healthy again!
We took our pug in with respiratory distress. They quickly took her in and realized she was in critical condition. They pinpointed her issues, took quick action to stabilize her, and stayed with her around the clock. They remained in constant contact with us and were very honest about her chances of surviving. They consulted us and guided us with kindness through the process. Our pug was in ICU for 4 days and remained another 2 days. Due to their expertise and care they were able to save her against the odds. We are happy to have Patti Pug still with us a year after this incident. We are so grateful to the entire staff.
I went here today because my dog has been having diarrhea for the past few days and our regular vet's office was closed. Everyone I talked to at the office was friendly, and the doctor was very informative and communicative about what she thinks happened with our dog. She laid out some options for us in a way as to not have us go through unnecessary tests. I'm sure every adult everywhere has at some point experienced a sales person trying to up sale something to them. There was absolutely none of that.
Overall, I had a pleasant experience.
Overall they got our dog in quickly and got her comfortable and sedated. It did take a bit longer to get X-ray results and information on what the initial diagnosis was, but understandable as it was very busy.
What I wasn’t happy about, and was actually quite shocked about was that they told my grandfather a price to keep her over night ($3600 - $6000) and monitored, and he declined as he wanted her home and to see her normal vet for another opinion and surgery options the next morning. I’m not sure many can afford that kind of payment out of pocket as is. He was told it was against the vets medical advice and INHUMANE to let her go home. While I understand they are the ones with the education and knowledge, I do not believe that is something you tell a pet owner of when they possibly have to put their pet to sleep. You don’t call someone inhumane for doing what they see fit for their pet. I was quite taken aback that a professional would speak those words to a patient.
This is a great hospital . My doggo got treatment for his lymphoma here , the staff is great and took really good care of him . From his oncology doctors To the ER doctors , everyone was very helpful during the time He needed to be seen .
My dog Jax needed emergency surgery after a tumor on his spleen started bleeding into his abdomen. My vet recommended I take him here even though it's 20 minutes away from Seattle. So glad I did! Staff was really attentive and they called to update me regularly when they said they would. They were honest and upfront with me about what we could potentially be dealing with but they made me feel comfortable in my my choice to go ahead with surgery. Thankfully, I got his results today and it was benign! 🐶😃
We’ve brought our dog in twice for an emergency. This place is more expensive than taking to your normal veterinarian, but that’s to be expected at an emergency clinic. It’s a bummer, but it is what it is.
The second visit was the scariest, as our dog had a blockage in his intestines. He had to have an emergency surgery and all went well. They even saved what was causing the blockage to show us (our dog swallowed a squeaker from a toy). No more squeaker toys in our home!
We opted for the credit plan, cause of the cost.
In the end 5 star service from the front desk to the doctors, but I knocked down to 4 cause man oh mighty, it was expensive. But Walter is worth it!
The staff here is very knowledgeable and incredibly kind. It has been a very dark time for our family with our cat getting a cancer diagnosis, but they have been as gentle and hospitable as anyone could ask.
We brought our dog into the clinic on a holiday. The staff were really friendly and we were seen fairly quickly considering it was a waiting room full of people and their pets. The vet came in and had great bedside manner. Considering we had my husband and two kids there along with myself and our dog it was nice that they got things moving along quickly. The vet left after giving us information and told us that we would be discharged soon. Fast forward three hours later and we were still in the room. Finally our pup had to go out potty so we asked to take him out and that is when they realized we were still in the room. There was no explanation for why we were forgotten about - but they sure had no problem taking a $1000 before we could leave. This is one of the only emergency vets around - and although we have normally had good experiences it would have been nice to at least be able to get an explanation for what happened.
The best Vet experience I’ve ever had. My dog was having seizures and they not only helped calm me and my dog but worked with me on affordable options. I felt like they genuinely cared and weren’t just trying to take my money. Dr. Williams treated me with kindness and respect in a time where I needed it most. Thanks to the entire staff.
I had to take my Australian Shepard here in the middle of the night. He was old and not able to stand up and once I explained my situation to them they were able to take care of him straight away. The vet was very professional and walked us through what was going to happen with him being euthanized. All the staff were more than compassionate about the situation and made a difficult decision as bearable as possible.
My dog needed testing and had to stay all day. Dr. Peterson was very thorough, quick and patient to explain her findings to me so I understood. They were very efficient with information; the estimate was emailed to me before I was finished speaking with Dr. Peterson so I could review it and authorize services. They took a bag of food for Sophia after she had her ultrasound so she could finally eat. The staff was helpful and answered my many subsequent questions. It's a relief to know your fur kid is being taken care of by such a good team:) even if it's a hard diagnos(es). Thank you
I am writing this review with a heavy heart and it is not easy to type these lines but I can tell you that if you need a place to take your best friend in case of an emergency and you need a specialist then this is a place to go. It is worth the drive. Sadly, we had an emergency, my dog lost all the functions in his hind legs. Our vet suggested to take him here and they sent all the information to them to make sure they have all before we arrive. We were greeted with a very friendly and compassionate staff who took him in immediately, made us comfortable during the wait. They did the best they could, explained everything to us, give detailed explanation, survival rate, and all the possible options. They helped us to go through the hardest decision we ever had to make due to the outlook. We never felt pressured at all. We got all the time we needed with my dog and made as comfortable as possible during this hard part of our lives. Dr Angelette is wonderful, and we could not ask for a better vet at all. He is very compassionate, carrying, and supportive. He provided the best possible care under the circumstance. The facility is great, the room is very nice and comforting where you can say your final goodbye to your beloved pet and their care and support did not stop there. It was a great and heartwarming surprised when we received their wonderful card in the mail.
I highly recommend Dr. Angelette and Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynwood and thank you again for all the great help and support you provided during this very difficult time!
I was here a few days ago with my 19 yr old cat who had rapidly declined in health (ER clinic). The staff was so kind through the entire process. They got me into a room right away since I had already told them she needed to be put to sleep. I appreciated so much that they trusted me in knowing it was her time and did not try to have me do a bunch of expensive testing just to discover what I already knew. They went over options with me every step of the way, even offering to allow me to pay in the room so I did not have to go back to the reception desk/waiting room after. I had scheduled a consultation with my regular vet about possible euthanasia and when I called the next day they said they had already cancelled my appt. Either this was a crazy cosmic mistake, or more likely, this clinic notified my usual vet of her passing. I am not sure if this is the case, but if it was, I can not express what that little extra step they took meant to me. Thank you so much for all you do.
Very good service for our dog. Vet and assistants all caring and really good communication.
Today was our first experience at this clinic. We made an appointment with an internal medicine vet after a multi-year journey trying to manage bladder stones in our cat. The staff at the clinic were fantastic- we had an appointment and were seen right on time. We spoke with a technician and two veterinarians, Dr Daney and Dr Schmid. They were all caring, friendly, and super communicative/thorough, asking us many questions to clarify our cat's history, and were also very well-prepared for our visit having read all of her care history (which they handled having sent from 3 other clinics). After her tests, we received a personal call from the vet as well as a thorough summary, printed and electronic, of the tests run, images taken, and radiological analysis. The best news was that they were able to confirm that the stone was no longer there, something our other vets had not been able to confirm. The level and quality of the care FAR exceeded any we have had at the other 3 clinics our cat has gone to. We highly, highly recommend this clinic for specialty care and lovely, highly qualified staff!
The staff is knowledgeable and professional.
They were quick to accurately diagnose our dog's condition after we already went to a different vet and had a different, wrong diagnosis.
The wonderful folks at VSC saved my 6 month old puppy Charlie!! He ate a toxic mushroom. Nearly lost his life. I am forever grateful for the amazing care he received. Only mild complaint is you get out on hold 9/10 times you call, it gives me the impression they need better staffing at the front desk but other than that, I absolutely recommend. These people know how to care for your pet.
Thank you VSCS! Far exceeded expectations and I’m so relieved you were able to help my cat. I thought we were screwed and would have to hope she made it to Tuesday when her regular vet opened.
I had to take my 13 year old Chocolate Lab in as he was unable to urinate. He was already frail with arthritis and had unexplainable weight loss. He was tended to by Dr. Winter who did a thorough exam and discovered a large tumor in his pelvic canal. Dr. Winter was very kind and informative about his findings and what his recommendations were as to what options were available. He called with updates when he said he would. Unfortunately, the prognosis wasn't good and I had to make the agonizing decision to euthanize my Jaxx. Dr. Winter was very compassionate and gave my daughter and I as much time as we needed to spend time with our beloved boy before and after he closed his eyes for the last time. The staff were all wonderful and took great care of our boy.
I made the mistake of taking my dog to Pilchuck first. They amputated his leg and couldn’t handle the post op. Luckily VSCS was willing to take him.
They were fabulous and took great care of him. We were able to take him home. Unfortunately his wound was infected (we’ll always think it’s because Pilchuck lacked the proper hygiene) and eventually we had to say goodbye to him.
VSCS helped us through that awful decision and process. The vets and all the people we met were fabulous. It was a sad goodbye but we felt better knowing that we had gotten him the best care we could at VSCS.
Recently we had a very frightening experience and ended up taking our dog, Hank to VSC for emergency surgery. I cannot express how grateful I am that we chose to bring Hank into this facility. The veterinarians I communicated with (Dr. Lane and Dr. Gambino) were responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and above all compassionate. Additionally, the office staff and nurses were beyond helpful and kind throughout the whole process. Though I did not speak to the surgeons directly, I am immensely grateful for their work as well. Hank is now doing great and recovering very well. Thank you to ALL the staff at VSC!
We took our dog here last month for an emergency visit due to severe anemia. They diagnosed him with IMHA and we continued to take him in for regular visits for treatment. Unfortunately, he did not make it and we had to say goodbye to him a few weeks ago. However, even though the outcome was not one we were expecting, I did want to commend the staff at the facility for the extreme care they showed to our dog, and to us, during that difficult time. It's obvious that the staff care about their patients and we really appreciated that.
Dr. Gonzales is the best, most caring veterinarian I have ever known. She and her team brought Murdock (12 1/2 yr old lab) back from a certain death! I would highly recommend them. My family will always be grateful to her. She went beyond the call. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Murtz is full of love and affection!
We had a very sick dog .....
From the time we arrived, front desk people were fabulous, the vet tech support was awesome and the doctors we professional, knowledgeable and personable.
We were there for 16 hours, we saw a lot of staff, every single person was engaged, kind , a pleasure to interact with and very knowledgeable!
If you have a sick animal in Seattle, this is the hospital that you need to take them .
Thanks for all of the support!
Greg, Mary , Jake and GIgi
Such a wonderful team. I wouldn't want to take my pup anywhere else in an emergency ❤️
I took my pug there after he had a massive brain aneurysm they did great job under the circumstances. $1,800.00 for 10 hours of hospital care plus cremation service was not over priced considering a person in the hospital that long and you would add a new zero. The staff was very very compassionate and up front about the cost. I gave them credit up to $2,600.00 to start and let me know if it rose above that. If you live paycheck to paycheck you might find $60.00 too expensive.
I've also taken my dogs there as a walk-in basis when I didn't have time to make an appointment and that will be a healthy fee as well.
Learn what what you are getting into and give them time to check out your pet, run some test and stuff before they can answer any questions for you. Your pet isn't the only one there.
We had a good experience at 11 p.m. at night when our cat was gasping for air after being spayed. Reading the reviews I was scared they were going to do all these tests that were unnecessary and I'd only been approved for $200 at scratchpay. The vet came in and said her lungs are fine she's got her mouth open because she can't breathe through your nose she didn't think X-rays were necessary. They gave her few things and now we just watch her for 24 hours and after that I can take her to vet that's open more in my price range. She looks better just having had some iv fluids.
Dr. Kristi Hulme and her dedicated team went above and beyond to help my pup over come a scary situation. The care we received was exceptional.
Veterinary Specialty Center I can highly recommend for the specialized veterinary care of your pets. Here is why....I successfully managed an AAHA accredited hospital for 10 years and have been in the veterinary industry for many years beyond this experience. I have never had to be “referred” for my own pets, but after the sale of a family veterinary practice, I bought pet insurance for my pets expecting that I would not have a hospital at my finger tips anymore. I am a committed pet owner but on the same token, can appreciate great customer service when I see it and also can recognize flaws, dropping the ball and details in a heartbeat.
My experience began when my dog developed a rapid onset IMHA (immune blood cell disorder ) and needed immediate critical care intervention on day 2 of these dreaded disease. When I called and let VSC know my background and I was enroute, they were expeditious in taking my information and were completely prepared upon my arrival. They took Derp, my dog, to the back, and the worst part is the waiting while they assess, get an estimate and have you meet with the doctor. This is just the best practice at this time - although I understand triage is a part of assessing the critical patients from stable....difficult on the waiting pet owners, but best for pets. About 60 minutes past and I found we were full speed ahead and they had been attending Derp’s needs in the back the entire time.
They were so personable and made me feel good about leaving him in their care. Late night phone call updates 4am - another the next morning. Emergency medicine is a mad house - and I think they did a great job on communication to me.
Glad they could listen to the client’s well informed wishes, also. Well, with the great critical care specialists & DVMS at VSC - Dr Corsi, Dr Gambino, Dr Tse and Angelette, Bland, Libbe and now Dr Peterson - no doubt Derp is getting world class care in this caring, compassionate hospital.
It’s the little things that count - the professional staff up front - greeting me by name, knowing Derp - his story - saving my unopened water bottle from the previous day, opening doors, having a room ready, having TV & music in a pleasant and quiet visiting room, allowing me to the back when he was too critical for a visiting room, seeming organized despite the chaos that I know is going on in back, a big hug from team members that are checking on my dog even on their days off, making sure my dog is safe when an aggressive dog is coming around the corner..... honestly we always know there is small room for improvement - but from the face and experience, from an experienced hospital manager, this team is getting a lot right. The LVTs are smart, compassionate and personable. Front staff gracious, attentive and manning down a tough job!
The facility is meticulously clean to the AAHA standards I expected and you can tell they are committed to this process, not just cleaning up for a 3 year inspection. Trust me.... I know the ins and outs....they are getting it right on this point. This was super important to me - my dog
All veterinary ER practices are feast or famine - it is mad house trying to balance the lulls and highs - I know they are on a 3 hour wait at those times - but they are there 24/7 - 365 days a week. Not afraid to refer your pet to the next ER if there is another treatment available and will listen to new treatments when it comes to this...
I give them 5 Stars.... I feel completely confident that I can communicate, effectively be my part on my dog’s health care team and the care I get is worth all the reasonable fees charged. Read my entire review on Facebook.
Our dog was in dire straights, ultimately having to be put down. The medical situation and potential outcomes were explained and price for service reviewed. They could see our emotional dilemma. As gently as they could, a detailed discussion ensued. We are so grateful for their honesty. They could have easily taken advantage of us, but they were honest and forthright. Not every vet would have been this professional and compassionate.
We took our cat Jackson in for what turned out to be a bad asthma attack. The critical care department was amazing and got him fixed up. In the process of diagnosing his asthma it was discovered that he was born with a diaphragmatic hernia. Once his asthma was under control we scheduled surgery for repair. The surgery department was just as amazing as the critical care team. His surgery went very well and he is back to a healthy and playful boy now. Thanks VSC!
I had such a positive experience at this place! After I took my dog out for a walk, an unleashed larger dog initiated a fight and bit my dog in the hind leg on both sides. When we entered the clinic around 8:00 pm Misha (our dog) was bleeding and a Tech came out right away to take her back to see Dr. Bush. Dr. Bush, along with all of the tech staff, front desk etc. treated my family member SO incredibly well! I was so very relieved to witness for myself that these guys know what they are doing and actually care for your animal. Dr. Bush also took into GREAT consideration our financial options and was extremely upfront about the costs the entire time, might I add with a smile on her face. My doggie was there for a few hours considering the depth of her bite, and when we picked her up she was cleaned, stitched up, coned, nails clipped, all while being on the lower side of the cost estimate! I would most certainly come back here again for any emergency animal needs! Thank you SO much for taking care of Misha VCA!
Excellent Care! Been there more than once, saved my dogs lives twice, treated well every other time. Surgery once, ICU twice, stitches/wound care twice. This is for emergency care, ICU and specialists! They are EXPENSIVE but they have all the latest equipment. They are like the Harborview for animals, you're glad they are there when you really need them, but not the place to go if you can wait until your vet is open (unless you are looking for specialty care).
Have had to put one dog to sleep there, surroundings were great, very kind to dog and thoughtful of our feelings, gave you plenty of time.
When they have REAL emergencies they might be too busy to spends tons of time with you, just like a REAL emergency room. But when your animal is the REAL emergency you will be happy for that. But be prepared to pay for state of the art care because that is what you are getting here.
My dog is currently undergoing 8 chemotherapy sessions following surgery here. The surgical & oncology staff have been caring, gentle, & respectful. My other dog had back surgery here over a year ago. Our experience was positive then too. Yes, the prices are high, but there are no surprises. It is laid out very clearly & options given on what treatment to follow. I have senior dogs & am glad to have such an excellent specialty clinic in the area.
I have unfortunately spent more time at VCA, due to health & emergency issues of my rescue dogs than I would like! Most recently, one of my doxies who snatches up everything on the sidewalk ate mushrooms before I could stop her. Many of them around here are poison & in fact the type that grow in our yard are the same type that killed 2 pugs in Bellingham last year. So, I am so thankful they are there. We have had nothing but the most professional & compassionate treatment over the years I notice a lot of the complaining is about cost.... Yes, it is costly, BUT that is the price you pay for having top notch emergency care available 24/7. In order to have the hospital properly staffed with professionals, ( & who are willing to work at 3 AM on a holiday, think about it) & all the latest equipment ( yes, I want to make sure the BEST is available for my beloved pets) & that costs money, bottom line.
Pets are not cheap & in order for us to have this service available when we need it, it is going to cost money. I am never happy to pay the bill, BUT am so grateful they are there if I need them. One other point people might not be considering, is that while your regular vet knows the specifics about your pet, a vet in an emergency situation does not & sometimes that means extra testing to get a better picture of the situation.
Frustrating, sure. I always prefer to be able to go to my own vet, because they know my pet very well & their entire history, but at 3AM or on a Sunday that is just not reality.
Good communication about wait time and process from front desk. Facility nicer than most human care facilities. Techs were very compassionate towards my Schnauzer, Swoops. Dr. Kendall laid out all of the options for Swoops and partnered with me to decide. I would definitely go back if needed and would recommend.
Highly recommend if needing to put a pet down. They were absolutely amazing during such a difficult time. We even received a condolence card in the mail afterwards, which just added to the personal touch.
Took my pup Aries in for a torn eyelid. The emergency doctor called to tell us that we needed to fork over almost $2,000 for surgery to repair it, as a specialist was needed. When asked what other options we had to lower the cost, the provider chuckled and said "hahah I could try to do it, but it will only save maybe $300." I work in a hospital, I know what appropriate bedside manner looks like, and to joke about the care of my pup is not funny to me. Additionally, during this pandemic $300 goes a long way. Because of her poor bedside manner and almost passive aggressive behavior, I told my husband that I would rather pay more money to a professional specialist to fix the dog then have someone like her be responsible for his health.
Additionally, we were asked to make a "deposit" before the surgery, but the "deposit" was actually the full amount of the procedure! Just call it what it is, and don't play games with me regarding the health of my fur-baby.
The only reason I am giving 3 stars instead of one is because of the outstanding work and professionalism exhibited by the opthamologist. She did an excellent job and truly cared about the well being of my Aries.
I had to bring my beloved kitty in Sunday evening as she was dying I knew I would not be walking out with her. Upon entering at 9:30 p at night the entire staff was very nice and comforting and attended to us right away. They showed me nothing but kindness and compassion. I received a call yesterday which was 5 days after I had to put her to sleep to inform me my Marie’s ashes were ready to be picked up today they were so kind so needless to say today will not be fun however a comforting and sincere staff will make it easier!
I read the negative reviews, remembered that Abe Lincoln once said, "If it's on the internet it must be true", and took my dog Toby there anyway. Based on my experience the bad reviews are sour grapes or competitors. The tech on the phone was clear about the risks of a small dog vomiting all day and her compassion continued when I arrived. The second tech had a concern for Toby's plight that was genuine and concise. The wait time for this emergency visit at 9 PM was less that 30 minutes before I was in front of the doc. After a brief exam she intently listened to my concerns then taught me that dogs with a sinus rhythm heartbeat can be normal. Her diagnosis and treatment options included very clear pricing, then, with no pressure, supported my decision to take him to his regular vet the next day. She said it would be 30 minutes for release treatment orders and I said no problem, I'll catch the next boat. Five minutes later the second tech had the orders and a bag of sample food. Toby got meds and sub Q liquids and I was expecting $500 for the visit. Nope. Less than $200, promptly checked out by the front desk staff, and I was out the door and caught the earlier ferry. If we didn't live on Whidbey Island, this would be our family vet.
All the staff at this facility are friendly, compassionate, and handle situations with sensitivity. The box that was prepared with my cats ashes is a beautiful cedar box with name plate, his paw print was pushed into a piece of clay and ink blots were taken of his nose. This package is so beautiful and the perfect way to remember my handsome boy, thank you to everyone at this facility.
My pug says he's very happy with their attention to him! He had started to have problems with walking as far as usual. We already knew he had back and hip issues so we started with that. I took him to another place that had a water treadmill but he couldn't go for more than 5 minutes so we started to think something else was going on. We were referred to a wonderful neurologist here. It only took a few minutes for her to know it wasn't his back or hips causing his problems. She gave us a possible diagnosis but needed blood work to confirm. Unfortunately, it came back positive for the disease she had thought, which it like MS in people and only affects pugs. I was able to take that info to our regular vet and he's managing the disease now. If we hadn't gone here, I doubt we'd have a diagnosis and wouldn't have been able to care for him like we need to, to slow the disease. I'm very impressed by the whole team that helped my pug baby!
Pet emergencies are scary but bringing our beloved pup here was the best thing. It did not have a happy ending but their care and compassion helped us with a very difficult decision. So respectful and accommodating even with Covid restrictions. Highly recommend.
I had to bring my Buddy Kitty unfortunately in to relieve her of the pain of growing old and stopped eating.
My son and I were brought instantly to a very quiet, relaxing room to say our goodbyes.
They treated Buddy like she was one of their own. They gave us as long as we needed with her. If you need to do the unfortunate time of giving peace to your animal this is the place to go.
This is the first place I have been were my cat was treated so well at the end. Not on a cold table, not in a loud office, but in a peaceful area. They also sent a cast of her paw print.
I want to thank everyone at the hospital for how they treated us and my furball furbaby. All of you took a most horrible day and made it easier on us. Thank you!
I walked into the hospital, told the desk gals my cat was hit by a car, and they called the back office immediately- before I even finished talking- and took Milo back for an immediate ultrasound to see if there's internal damage.
First the vet recommended he stay overnight to monitor his breathing and respirations because he had lung bruising from the impact. The vet showed me the bruising on his xray which I really appreciated. But after 1-2hrs his condition improved and vet informed me he could go home after all.
Was the total cost ridiculous? Isn't all health care- for humans too who don't have insurance rudiculous too? Especially with ultrasound and chest xray.
I was appreciative of the urgency they gave us and that the vet didn't say Milo still had to stay overnight when his condition improved.
Thank you staff!
Good care. Knowledgable. Capable of high level care if necessary. Long wait though. Took hours to be seen and do one test, and they had my cat away from me for 4 hours while I sat in the waiting room wondering how he was doing.
They came out periodically with a question or asking permission to do a test without much explanation. It felt super weird to conference on care decisions while sitting in the waiting area surrounded by other people. No privacy. In an emergency it makes sense, I guess, it's not like there are enough treatment rooms for all the people waiting, but it still wasnt ideal.
The free coffee was good. Lol, probably shouldn't have drank it while I was all worried and anxious though. Gave me more nervous energy and a stomach ache since I hadn't eaten all day due to being there.
I could tell they tried their best under the pressure of a busy schedule.
Would highly recommend the service here. Dr Boyle and staff were all outstanding in our time of need.I feel they went above and beyond expectations. In the care of Bella Mae. Made her as comfortable as could be in under the conditions. No regrets very detail oriented and genuinely care for the pets.
My dog Coco got into some baking chocolate last night and I was a wreck with worry! We got him into VSC very quickly and they treated him promptly and were very upfront with us on pricing. All in all an overnight stay, heart monitoring, and many medications cost about 1000.00, they worked with us on payment options and told us about a credit option we could apply for if we needed. I've seen some reviews complaining of the cost, but treating medical issues in animals can be expensive just like with people, all in all I think that the people at VSC were compassionate and honest about pricing and they gave me an itemized list of services and I thought the price was very reasonable. Thankfully I got a call this morning that Coco is in the clear and could come home where he belongs! He's snuggling with me and our other pup now! I'm so grateful to the doctors and support staff who took such good care of my sweet boy!
I just moved back to Washington so I didn’t have a new vet and when my dog got extremely injured I went to the nearest place, which happened to be them and I’m happy it did!! Though my wait time was kind of annoying with her circumstance (she was bleeding badly from an injury), I reminded myself that I don’t think they saw how bad it was/I was too nervous and with her/also maybe another animal had it worse off? That’s really my only bad saying of it. Everything else was great. The staff was honestly so sweet and caring and I didn’t feel pressured to do anything that they didn’t weigh different options on. Time is of the essence, the staff and care were wonderful.
This hospital saved my baby puppy Nova today! He ate something and it was stuck in his stomach. They got him right in at half the price of another veterinary hospital in downtown Seattle. The doctor and staff were friendly and helpful. We are so thankful that our Nova is ok and already so much better!
I am very happy with the care my pet & I received at VCA. The cost was comparable with ultrasound vet who does not give a second opinion or consult on his findings. Actually it ended up about $300 cheaper because due to their 2nd opinion, a biopsy was not required. I was treated well. Our team was clear, concise & professional. The Doctor explained our options in laymen terms. The only things that stopped my review from being Excellent is: they said they would, but did not, give us a reminder call about the appointment & not eating after 10pm the night before. Also they tried to take Sampson's rectal temperature without warning & it freaked him out.
I had a kitten with FIP which wasn’t determined until the 3rd opinion, at this facility. They were compassionate and helpful to say the least. I just got a puppy recently and will always recommend them for a quick phone call or immediate help. Thank you to the whole team for all the love and care!
The care here is good but I felt ripped off. My dog has been seeing their cardiologist who left last year - so in order to get his Rx renewed, they required me to come in and see their new Cardiologist. But they charged me as a new client when A) they have all his records and B) I'm not a new client. It should have been the same cost as a recheck - which is what it was - but they upcharged me $300 extra. This is probably common practice as most people just pay the exorbitant fees that are charged and don't question - but it was enough to make me want to never go back. Totally took advantage and it is profit over everything - just like the medical industry who recommends all the tests because they are highly profitable - not because we need them in most cases.
Our experience here was exceptional. We were given the best care, very attentive to our needs and feelings. We came under duress, and they were professional and caring. The facility was clean. Our room was amazing, very comfortable, with a couch, chair, nice rug. They let us bring in our other dogs as well. Would highly recommend to all.
Our senior dog, Sammy, almost died from ruptured blood vessels in his spleen on Thursday.
By the time we got to the office, he was in distress. The drive was terrible. He cried a few times, but was growing more and more quiet. By the time we got there, he was almost unconscious. His gums and all exposed tissue were white, and his eyes were rolling back in his head. Due to COVID-19, the techs grabbed him in the parking lot and put him on a stretcher, and I thought that was the last time I’d see him. My wife and I stood, alone, in the parking lot, choking back tears.
After stabilizing him, they performed emergency surgery to remove his spleen, and he had to stay in the hospital until Sunday afternoon.
During his stay, we got frequent empathetic updates from his emergency vet, Dr. Anya Gambino, who is a wonderful veterinarian. While he was in the hospital, Dr. Gambino assured me she was kissing Sam's nose for us, since we couldn't.
We won’t get the pathology results for a few days, but it is probably a malignant tumor, and, if it is, it has already likely metastasized and will return. However, no matter what happens, I am grateful, because, if the last time I saw him was as he was on the stretcher, it would have been an excruciating memory of someone I’ve known since he was a few weeks old, when all he wanted to do was sleep in our bed, between Susan and me.
Either way, we will make sure Sammy is a happy dog for every day we have with him, and I am so glad the staff at Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle were able to save his life.
Thank you, Dr. Gambino and her colleagues!
After a bad experience with sno-king vet clinic basically killing my dog, we took our little angel here to be cremated.
Our experience with sno-king vet was very traumatic and left us heartbroken (never going back again). VSC went above and beyond and put a smile back on my face.
We expected to get our 4 lb yorkie back in just a regular cardboard box after the cremation. The presentation was amazing! Our beautiful girl was placed in a nice wood box, they included seeds for planting in your pets memory. What really touched my heart, they included a casting of her paw print ❤
We were in such panic and chaos when our yorkie died, we didnt think to save her collar when we dropped her off. VSC sent us her collar back in the mail, along with a condolence card.
Losing our dog was hard enough, especially at such a young age because the negligence of another vet (Gracie was barely 5), but VSC made it a little less painful.
Thank you for taking such great care of our angel and showing our animals are not just pets.
The Orton Family
High time I wrote a review, because it has been over a year since Dr. Alix Partnow and the wonderful, caring staff at VCA gave my dog her life back. My dog ruptured a disk and had it surgically repaired, then ruptured it a second time before she had fully recovered.
Dr. Partnow is an amazing veterinarian and beyond that she is calm, compassionate, professional, personable and an excellent communicator. Everyone else at VCA, from the people at the front desk to the vet techs did a fantastic job caring for my dog and for one very frightened, stressed-out dog owner. They were all so gentle, kind and affectionate towards my dog (who spent several days in their hospital) that she clearly "bonded" with everyone there (I could tell that when I took her home). For me, they were the perfect combination of professional, so that I had confidence in their ability to help my dog, and sweet/supportive with me.
Dr. Partnow called me every day to update me on my dog's progress, and they were totally and instantly responsive when I called them with questions.
I thought the charges were reasonable and they were so scrupulously honest, that when the total charges were less than my deposit, they immediately gave me a credit.
I can't imagine a better veterinary hospital. I highly recommend VCA, and Dr. Partnow in particular for neurology.
Incredibly professional, caring, & courteous. They let me sit with my dog for many hours in the middle of the night while she waited for surgery after she was hit by a car. They offered me a blanket, coffee, ... Cannot say enough about this wonderful resource and the staff! Thank you.
My dog tested as having stage 4 kidney failure, and my veterinarian of 30 years recommended that I take him to a specialist. He suggested the VCA Specialty Center in Lynnwood. I made the appointment and due to my own schedule had to wait several days. In the meantime, I read a bunch of reviews about VCA Lynnwood, and they scared the heck out of me. With great trepidation, I showed up at my appointment feeling pretty edgy, and I probably wasn't as nice as I could have been. Despite that, the staff were courteous and prompt. My wait was minimal. Once we were taken to an examination room, the vet assistant was very nice and took time to answer all of my questions thoroughly, to the best of her ability. She also provided me with a cost estimate for the tests and procedures that might be performed.
The vet, Dr. Polly Peterson, came in and examined my boy. She answered all of my questions and said she'd like to do an ultrasound and blood draw, and they would take my dog into the back to do these things. I told her I wanted to be with my dog at all times. The team came into the exam room to draw blood, and after disappearing into the back for a couple of minutes, Dr. Peterson returned and explained that their radiologist refused to perform ultrasounds with owners present. In my experience, this is not unusual, but I didn't want my boy stressed out, so I declined the ultrasound. We waited until the blood results came back, and then discussed the somewhat puzzling results. Apparently he had other problems as well as kidney failure. Dr. Peterson really wanted to have a look at his insides, so she carted the ultrasound machine into the exam room herself, sat on the floor (I have a pretty big dog), and performed the ultrasound! She stated a couple of times that she wasn't a radiologist, so it wasn't official and I wouldn't be charged for it. Not charging me was very nice, but what really impressed me was that she would go the extra mile to get the information she needed to diagnose my boy's problems. During the exam, she constantly explained what she was doing and what she was seeing, and what her findings could indicate.
Dr. Peterson was careful, gentle, and thoughtful, always checking to make sure what she was doing was OK with me and with my boy. We discussed treatment options and ordered some further testing. I never had the feeling that she was in a hurry. It was clear that her principal objective was to produce the best diagnosis she could given the information available, and to figure out what we could do to help my boy while waiting for the additional test results. Part of that involved a change in diet, and when I indicated that I wasn't really impressed with the ingredients in most commercial foods, she gave me some recipes and guidelines for a home-cooked diet.
Overall, the staff at VCA Lynnwood were great, and I was very impressed with Dr. Peterson. Now, a week after his appointment, my boy already seems to be feeling somewhat better even though we haven't gotten all of the test results back. I have high hopes that we will be able to help my boy be happy and comfortable for a long time to come.
Our 80 lb dog collapsed last week unexpectedly, we called our vet's office which was about to close and they referred us here. We called ahead, made the quick drive over, and were greeted in the parking lot with a gurney. They wheeled our Molly directly into emergency. I felt extremely well taken care of and could tell that we were a priority. Unfortunately nothing could have saved our sweet girl from the hemangiosarcoma that went undetected until that moment. Our doctor was strait forward and knowledgeable. We were presented with options in a clear and relatable way, I felt listened to and had my questions answered. We were given time and space to make the incredibly heart wrenching decision to put our 11-year-old English Labrador out of her pain. We miss her, but know the experts at VCA helped us to the best of their ability.
To put it quite simply these people saved my dogs life and I am eternally grateful. The service and care was special and each person I spoke to seemed nicer then the one before. My dog required an MRI, serious emergency back surgery, and a week in the hospital. They were so understanding, helpful and compassionate that I can't put it into words. I have my dog today because of them.
We took our 15 year old border collie in for cluster seizures they took bus right in no problem. Front desk to the assistants we're all awesome. Our dog went peacefully the Doctor was very empathetic and listened to our stories about our old guy.
My 11-year-old Dachshund, Zeke, was recommended by his vet to have an ultrasound completed ASAP since he was still getting positive readings for pancreatitis after two weeks of treatment, yet acting completely normal. Veterinary Care Specialists was super busy on this Friday afternoon, but Autumn at the front desk was very accommodating to our situation (miscommunication issue at the animal hospital in Kirkland resulting in no ultrasound) and was able to get Zeke seen tonight. We did spend a good amount of time there (I arrived at 4:15 and we left at 8:30), but that is to be expected at an emergency veterinary facility and I was willing to be patient since they were seeing Zeke and there were other animals with more emergent needs (same thing happens at human ERs). The other receptionist who brought me back to the exam room and checked us out (I'm sorry I do not remember her name) was very kind as well and quick to get us checked out. Zeke was well taken care of by the radiologist who did a thorough ultrasound of the pancreas, as well as surrounding organs, and luckily found that he most likely didn't have pancreatitis. The extra care to perform all organ observations and not just the pancreas are greatly appreciated. Dr. Kanda was the attending physician for Zeke, and she was awesome! She was very personable and it was evident that she wanted to find the solution for Zeke as much as I did. She explained the findings of the ultrasound, agreeing that pancreatitis was most likely not the culprit, and the various courses of action in easy to understand terms (not doctor jargon), but was also detailed in her explanations to help me understand what was happening with my little buddy. She went through all scenarios and gave me all the resources available to make an informed decision while monitoring Zeke's progress to see what he needs. She also discussed a few other findings with me (some belly pain, as well as back pain due to dachshunds having back issues) and provided evaluation and recommendations for treating those as well. I especially appreciated that, as he is a senior dog and it's helpful to know all the things I can go to give him the best life possible as he gets older. She helped put my mind and heart and ease, knowing that he is going to be okay, even if he needs treatments later on (since GI issues can be chronic, especially in older dogs like Zeke). Overall, we had a very positive experience and I would recommend Veterinary Specialty Care to anyone who has a pet needing emergent/urgent care. Thank you so much to Dr. Kanda, the radiologist, the techs and nurses and the front office staff for taking amazing care of Zeke -- it means a great deal to us and we appreciate you all very much! - Sara Horne and Zeke
This place saved my dogs life last year and quite simply helped us make the right decisions with treatment. This isn't a clinic. This is a full on pet hospital that is manned 24/7, 365 days a year. It may be pricey but when things go south fast with your pet, they are truly life savers. I could go on about the petty things that EVERY vet ensues, but I won't. The folks here are genuinely there to help and serve your pet with the best care available. Highly recommended!
The price is high, but I expect that at an emergency room. The people were increadibly compassionate. We brought in a stray having seizures and the receptionist grabbed the box and raced it back to the docs before even getting our name.. It was clear that saving her life was priority. In the end they weren't able to save her, but Michelle was very kind. I highly recommend them for emergencies.
Two days ago the Seattle region was hit with a significant snow storm leaving 9” of snow and traffic snarled as everyone made a dash for home. As I pulled into my driveway a notice a wild bunny struggling in the snow. Unfortunately, the poor little bunny had been hit by a car paralyzing his back legs. I knew he couldn’t survive the injuries but that it was not right leaving him out in the cold. I scooped him up in a warm towel and placed him in a kitty crate.
I phoned my own personal vet to ask if they could assist in mercifully helping this bunny to get to bunny heaven as gently as possible. They said that they were all leaving to beat the storm and would not be able help. I didn’t want the bunny to suffer nor feel pain one second longer than he had to. I then called the Veterinary Specialty Center of Seattle 9loc aged in Lynnwood) as they had helped us a few years ago when we had to put our beloved kitty down. We were emotional wrecks to have to say goodbye to our kitty. The staff at this facility were supportive, understanding and allowed us to take as long as we needed. STILL, I was so amazed when I called them about a bunny that they said that they would be happy to help us with this wild bunny and, at no charge. We would have gladly paid but they said no. When we arrived they all moved quickly to assess the condition of the bunny. Sadly, we all agreed that the poor little guy couldn’t be helped. The staff showed empathy and understanding in handling the situation in a professional manner. To be sensitive about one out of thousands of bunnies that are hopping through Brier was really awesome.
I am impressed with the facility but especcially with this staff who have enormous hearts. We are lucky to have a facility like this in our community. You didn’t have to help but yet you did.
Thank you from Kim and Catie Smith.
As many reviewers have said, I am very grateful for a 24-hour emergency vet in our area. But I will warn you, it is very very very very very very very expensive. If it's not a life-threatening emergency, I would wait until morning and visit your regular vet.
My cat had a blocked urinary tract on a Sunday evening. No choice but to go in, as he could have suffered kidney damage and was in a lot of pain. Immediately the staff at VCA make you answer the question, "Do you agree to emergency care? It can range from $300-$600." Uh, yeah, that's why I'm here. And oh how I wish it was only $300 to $600! I would have been thrilled with that!
They gave him pain meds, then the very nice, very young vet came in to give me an estimate of catheterizing him to try to unblock him, x-rays, then IV fluids, etc. during the night. I almost passed out when I saw the estimate: $2,600 to $3,600 for 2-3 days in the hospital, and that was WITHOUT surgery. He told me that if the stones had to be removed surgically, it would be an ADDITIONAL $3,000 to $4,000. We were now talking about $7,600 to treat my cat's urinary blockage. You are required to leave the low estimate ($2,600 in my case) to have your pet treated, so you'd better have a fat wad of cash in the bank if your pet gets sick on a weekend.
I transferred my cat the next morning to our regular vet after paying $1,250 for the night's care at VCA. Thankfully, my vet was extremely knowledgeable and first determined what kind of stones my cat had. Turns out from simple urinalysis results, my cat had struvite crystals in his urine, which can be dissolved with diet changes. No need for surgery. My cat spent three days at our regular vet to make sure he was not re-blocked. The grand total for 3 days hospitalization, IV fluids, catheter, medication, loving, compassionate care, careful consideration of all options, and prescription food: $220.
Thankfully, I didn't agree to a $7,600 unnecessary surgery for my cat, who is all better now.
I am so grateful for this place! They saved my cat from renal failure from eating a stargazer lily leaf (don’t buy lilies in stores, or plant them, if you have a cat- they will kill your fur baby). The staff Loves animals, are super sweet, and lets you know all the steps involved. This is my first animal trauma experience. They treated my Camille like a champ! Please get your pet on pet insurance if you haven’t already. It will save you And your pet in times of emergencies. 💕
Our cat took a turn for worse after being sick for two weeks. Our vet strongly recommended she be seen immediately at Speciality Hospital. This is an ER and hospital. Since there are no appointments some wait is involved. It can be fairly long if they're busy. Our kitty was very ill and needed to be hospitalized. She received top notch care by the entire staff. Before any care was given, the veterinarian reviewed her diagnosis, treatment, and both a high and low price for her entire stay. There were no surprises regarding her care. They provide all the high tech diagnostic testing and care found in a human hospital. They called us with updates and we were allowed to visit her. She was released with medication after one night. I feel we might have lost her if we hasn't gone to Speciality Hospital. I couldn't be more pleased or recommend them more. I was impressed with the entire staff from the front desk, vet technicians, to her two doctors. Please note the name includes "Seattle" in their name but they're located in Lynnwood, a suburb of Seattle.
Veterinary Specialty Center was the only 24 hour vet that was responsive and friendly. They clearly communicated with me what was going on and when to expect to hear back. They did a great job and I would recommend this business.
Yes, the prices are astronomical BUT it's open 24/7, so it's understandable. They gave me options, supported my decision fully, and helped me get my kitty through the night so that I could take him to my own vet the next day (where I was able to pay much less for the necessary surgery). I'm grateful this clinic full of intelligent, caring, and hard working people exists!
From the moment I made my first phone call all the way through my follow-up phone calls with questions about medication, I felt like every person here treated me and my pet with respect. Everyone took the time to make sure that all my questions were answered and I understood what my options were, including all associated costs. I don't have a single bad thing to say about my experience.
Hell, they even washed my cat box for me because he had vomited on the way there. I can't say enough good things about these guys.
My Dachshund had to have back surgery in march of 2012 and I took her to VSC to see a nuerologist and I had a wonderful experience. The staff was kind and the Dr. was compassionate. I was seen right away and when I recieved the estimate for surgery I didn't act like a jerk because of the cost. I think that most people write bad reviews because they don't have the money to treat their animal. They also wanted to give me an alternate plan if I wasn't able to afford the surgery(which was the best option). I think that people should quit talking bad about emergency clinics if they don't have the money to treat their animals. Animals are a luxery and if you can't afford their care then don't get one!
Thank you VSC for all your help! It's been 1 year and my Dachshund is doing fantastic.
Our German Shepard needed a Laminectomy, and Dr. Kline performed her surgery a few months ago. Our dog has since fully recovered and is doing well. The clinic staff took great care of our dog, and were up front with all costs and charges associated with the surgery. I recommend VCA and especially Dr. Kline, and her staff.
Last Friday night my 16 month jack russell Charlie Was hit by a car we first took him to another vet only to be told they wouldn't do anything without payment first and my husband didn't get paid until the following day so we took our boy home and made him as comfortable as we possibly could and the next morning we took him to VSC they were kind, caring and compassionate and handled Charlie with absolutely nothing but love. With ex-ray's we found out Charlie had shattered his pelvis and dislocated his hip. His bladder and intestines came through his abdomeal wall and we're just under the skin. He needed emergency surgery or he wasn't going to make it. We were blessed and had some really amazing people donate the money to help us save our precious Charlie. About 8,000$ yes they are expensive but this place is the best emergency care you will find for your pet. Charlie needed surgery to repair his herniated bladder and a femoral head and neck excision we were lucky that our boy is as young as he is and that he is just a little guy also. Charlie stayed at VSC for 6 days and received the best care that we were able to find for our little guy. We are forever grateful for the doctors and staff at VSC for without each and every one of you we would not have our boy right now! Thank you so very much
The Steik family!
Excellent place to take your pets. They are the ultimate professionals, caring and trustworthy. You will know exactly how much things cost as well as what your options are, with no pressure. I took my dogs here over the years for various emergencies and each time felt very satisfied.
My beagle is 11 years old and starting to age. I took her there when she blew out a disk in her neck. These guys did everything you would expect from a professional vet. They aren't cheap because this is a hospital not a small veterinarian. It cost $100.00 just to walk in the door to get looked at, but the care is the best you'll find.
Smaller vets are alot cheaper but its up to the owner. They were great with my dog when she underwent surgery to remove a cyst on her neck.
I took my 19 year old cat to Dr Shaumpers ( sp?) after referred to by Blue Pearl for a stroke. His is a neurologist and examined her right away and gave me her treatment options. He was professional, compassionate, and was wonderful with my confused Maddie. I followed his recommendations and not only am I feeling much calmer and anxious, my cat is recovering nicely. I give this place 5 stars as I was a basket case and these people were lovely in every aspect. Advised me every step in the process of the costs and options.
I was advised by the emergency vet to take my 11 year old pug to a neutologist after a 3 day stay in the ER. I called VCA on a Sunday in hopes to get him in as soon as possible. VCA called back to schedule an appt the for the following day. The scheduler was very friendly and answered my questions thoroughly. He gave me an estimate on the phone that seemed a bit high but I wanted my baby checked out right away so I agreed. We got to his appt a little early and everyone at check in was great. He had nurses coming over and saying hi the entire time we waited which was 35 minutes but we were 30 minutes early so that was great! We got to the room and his nurse really seemed to care and took the time to ask the probing questions. She took him away for some testing and a little while later he came back followed by the neurologist Dr Partnow. She was amazing she andwered all of my questions and explained all of the options even telling me that there was no need for the expensive procedure that I originally thought we were going in for (an MRI). After reading the reviews and hearing my original quote I thought we were going to have a bill well over 5k but walked out under 200 and have the information I needed.
Thank you VCA you have made it where this momma can sleep tonight!!
It was a very positive experience. I truly appreciate the emergency vets, were very caring and extremely helpful with my dogs medication recommendations.
I took my dog here for an emergency. Unfortunately there was nothing that could be done to save her. The staff here was absolutely amazing and helped to comfort me and my kids. The Dr. and staff handled my dog after her passing with such gentleness and care.
I'd recommend this clinic to anyone
If your pet is sick and you want to know what is wrong, this is the place to go. Yes it is expensive, but you get what you pay for!!!. In January, one of my cats was having a hard time breathing. His regular vet said that it was his asthma and sent him home with more inhalers. Within a few days on a Friday, he got really bad. I brought him here. Turned out that he had cancer. They referred us to Dr Muldowney. By March my cat was in remission and is doing great. A couple of weeks ago, his sister was having problems breathing. I went to the regular vet, spent over $500, and was told that it was either asthma or bronchitis. On Tuesday of this week she got REALLY bad and so we brought her here. With her, it was her laragnyx. She is home now recovering from surgery.
Everyone that I have dealt with here has always been kind, caring and professional.
If you have a dog or cat is serious condition, this is the best and only place to bring them. They are amazing. Fudge is in the best hands and gets fantastic treatment. They even let us hobo crash in a room the night he was operated on. They treat you and your loved furry like family.
Our family is very pleased with the care our dog Loki received over a five month period. Loki was in extreme pain due to a genetic disease and the staff are very professional and truly care. A big thanks to Dr. Sarah M Schmid and her team.
Absolutely a top-notch facility. We took our puppy on a late Saturday night worried that she had fractured her leg. After a quick exam we were pleased to find out she did not. The doctor didn’t even charge us...
Even though the outcome wasn’t what we wanted, I’m very happy with this hospital. Our loved little man, Rebel went peacefully in my arms. They were beyond loving and respectful when the time came to put him down. I will bring all our pets to this place from now on.
This hospital is accredited with board certified surgeons and vets. The clinical staff is the equivalent to a human hospital. The admin staff superior. This vet hospital is in the elite group and we are extremely grateful they are here in the state of Washington and our cat is fortunate enough to have been saved from a double kidney blockage.
I thank God for this place! my little Yorkie named Chispita got run over by a car on Thursday! Thank God she didn't died but she got really really hurt! And when I called them to let them know what had happened and I was on my way! They were so nice to me and they stay on the phone until I got there. They were waiting for me to arrive with my little Chispita . They were really kind to my her . The staff was really nice and the the doctor was very professional. They didn't took too long to let me know what was going on with Chispita .I really appreciate what they did for my Yorkie. I don't know what I've had done if I would have lost her! Thank God that he helped them to help my Chispita so I could have her again!! Chispita and I will always appreciate they were there for us! God bless there business so they can keep helping are furry little love ones!
They were so professional, caring and did everything they could to help our sick little grand dog. I would recommend them highly to anyone who needs care for their pets.
The VCA reception desk, techs and doctors are the most professional, respectful and compassionate people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
The expertise they offer the community comes from their tireless efforts and willingness to train hard and acquire the necessary skills to treat animals. But their kindness, patience and love for animals - and the people who care for them - comes from their enormous and selfless hearts.
I wholeheartedly recommend taking your pet to VCA Veterinary Specialty of Seattle.
Great team of doctors and staff. Hats off to Dr. Gambino and crew for saving Chet. He was one day from death. Had a stint place in his bile duct which was 100% blocked. Don't get me wrong, it was a long road to recovery and cost was a factor. It's great to have him EVERYDAY and I love him 100 X's more. Thank you.
Dr. Athron is one of the best veterinarians that I have ever met. He is communicative and open to discussing different treatment options. He's also very compassionate when difficult topics and decisions need to be made.
We had to have our little Yorkie put to sleep last night. The staff here were extremely kind, compassionate and just wonderful and helpful to us!! Thanks so very much to you all!!
I brought my cat here during an emergency and they were not only kind but empathetic with the situation. Within the day everything was back to normal and I'd highly recommend this vet ran by people who are passionate about what they do.
Took our dog in for a ruptured disc in her neck. They ended up doing surgery and removing the disc. They did such a great job. Extremely clean, friendly and professional. Thank you so much for everything. Our dog is all back to normal like nothing even happened.
I appreciate the care they provided us. However, the doctors don't cover for each other and so we had to wait and call multiple times in order to get our dogs labs and what the next step should be. Our doctor answered all of our questions but only works Sundays and Mondays.
Great experience here. I called ahead of time to let them know our boxer was having an allgeric reaction and as soon as we came through the door they took him and attended to his needs. You gotta love animals to do their job and you could tell that every person in that facility loved animals and their job!!
The staff here saved my Pugs life. He was 3 when he was diagnosed diabetic. If he hadn't come in when he did he would have been dead the next day. I had no idea.
Definitely not a place you want to go to, BUT ONLY because you'll be there for an emergency, and not for anything fun. That said, the staff here are great and check in is fairly quick, even when they're busy. The doctors here are good at what they do... Our pup had a major surgery here and came out all smiles despite what he went through. Not sure how the rates compare to other emergency vets, but we have pup insurance so I never really paid any attention to the cost. You do have to pay at time of checkout, though, so that could be an issue for some since most pet instance is reimbursement after payment. If you need a reliable emergency vet, definitely check out VCA.
Wow, I have been here helping dogs with their problems. The work is excellent but takes time and is often way more than you expect it to be. Is it overcharging, I don't think so, I think it is the thoroughness of their work. I high recommend having you own vet and using VCA for emergencies.
They are caring and if your pet needs a specialist that's where to take the. Remember just like doctors for yourself specialists aren't cheap.
My vet and staff we're very good to my senior dog and didn't push products we didn't need. I will stick with them for a very long time.
Friendly and kind staff. My dog got into rat poison and they got her taken care of right away. I was extremely worried about my baby and they were very understanding.
Major props to VCA Veterinary Specialty Center in Lynnwood, I believe they were purchased by another company if I recall correctly.
The people in this hospital are very friendly, very accommodating and helped me through a cat ordeal I experienced.
They took good care of my little old man cat, gave me clear concise pre/post op care instructions and were very comforting through it all.
I highly recommend this hospital/facility when an emergency comes up and for vet check ups, reasonably priced in comparison to the first facility I went to.
Going to a specialty vet is often scary and stressful. Afterall, you're there because your furry loved one isn't well. The staff, from the front desk, to the vets, to the back of the house team, really works to take great care of your pet and set your mind at ease. I was very appreciative and impressed at how they handled my dog and how well they explained what was going on.
Dr. Gokhale was very nice, and attentive with our dog. He explained the possible outcomes before doing the procedure, and called me a few days later to see how she was doing. They were transparent and reasonable with pricing.
When you need a specialist like orthopedic, for your pet this is the clinic to go to. $$$$ Great care for our dogs two surgeries. All ways found the asst to be knowledgeable and helpful .
This staff is so compassionate and sweet. It was the best case scenario to have my dog with them during the worst case scenario.
Saved my dog in an emergency and I am so grateful to the kind supportive staff.
Compassionate and professional staff. Knowledgeable medical teams. They have saved several of my furbabies.
Excellent care for your companions and even for the humans that are waiting and worrying. Be prepared for a wait so bring a book or something to take your mind off your troubled baby, you're in good hands.
Thank you for your care and compassion when I had to say good bye to my cat Patches. A special thank you to Sarah. I really appreciate all you did to help make this horrible time a little easier.
Excellent care of my two dogs. Surgery successful. Great communication through the process. Thank you !

Top to bottom, this hospital is exceptional. Tonight my 8lb dog was attacked by a housemate, and I suffered multiple bite wounds during the scuffle. I had to send our dog to the ER with my teenage daughters while my husband took me to the ER.
My dog was triaged and taken into surgery before I even got seen by a doctor at the human hospital. My daughters were so appreciative of how calm and professional the team at VSC was and how quickly they took our dog for treatment.
From the CSRs to the doctors, and everyone in between, we received excellent care and service.
So thankful for everyone at VSC!!!
