Reviews of South Seattle Veterinary Hospital
Payton Palsson
This hospital saved my kitty’s life and I couldn’t be more grateful. The reception team and doctors were all in good spirits which really helped give me hope and remain calm. This hospital does require you to pay for services before given but it seems that this is pretty standard for any emergency care. They were much more affordable than the other hospitals we visited as well. I will definitely be returning with any fur babies in the future that need care.

Very professional and caring. I have been going here for my pups check up and random care for over 10 years. And each time they have gone above and beyond for our pups. For example. My brother in law chiwawa was attacked by an unleashed pit bull. And they were able to save her for $4k. The love and professionalism is Michelin star.

They saved my dogs life and for that I will forever be grateful. The doctors are all very knowledgeable and kind. It’s also the only 24 hr veterinary hospital in the Seattle area. The billing was more reasonable than anticipated. BUT most importantly my best friend is recovered and ok. I highly recommend this hospital.

Dr Goraya, Chelsea, Kyle, Jasmine, and two other assistants whose names I didn't get (sorry!) treated my puppy, Madigan, and me with excellent care. Our wait was minimal, and Dr Goraya diagnosed Madigan and gave us a treatment plan quickly. He also provided an estimated cost that was spot on. Expensive yes, but most vet services are, especially when they involve surgery; that's why I have pet insurance. I would definitely bring my pup back to South Seattle for any future emergency services (they are not our primary vet), but let's hope we don't need them! Thank you, South Seattle team for getting us patched up and on the mend!

Great customer service when we called with an emergency. The front desk staff are very friendly and professional. Our dog received the care he needed and after 24hrs, he came home healthy. We didn't get much information before we left the clinic and the updates when we called were very brief. I am used to getting more information and detailed updates. Like, the plan in regards to the tests they were planning to do and how he was doing. That being said, we got all the updates we were expecting when we picked him up. It was pricey, but I think overnight hospitalizations for pets tend to be on the pricier side. Our dog is healthy and back home with us, so we are very pleased.

Dr Goraya saves pets lives! His knowledge is beyond what you can find at most routine care vet clinics. I appreciate their long hours and proximity to West Seattle. My little guy, Ralphie has had a tumor removed from under his tongue. He was back to himself within a day of the surgery but he could eat so much better.
Joss Warner
Brought our pup in because she ate a foreign object and were worried it wouldn't pass. Both reception and medical team did an amazing job with great bedside manner and answering all of our questions. We felt comfortable leaving our dog in their care. If we have an emergency in the future this is where we will bring our dog

I have been taking my pets (many pets over many years) there since Dr. Passmore had his veterinary hospital there. When he retired, I transitioned to the new South Seattle Veterinary Hospital. I have been happy with how I and my pets have been treated. The biggest difference is that I can seek treatment there 24 hours a day for dogs and cats without a scheduled appointment. That’s great!

This place is a gem. They are insanely busy but still the only place in the area that has space to take your pet. Their staff truly care and are doing their best, working hard. I had a good experience with taking my pet there in an emergency. Prices were reasonable but expect a $1-2K bill.

I had a very good experience getting emergency care for my dog at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital.
My dog was hit by a car and appeared to have a broken leg. I called another emergency vet who told me they had an 8 hour wait and referred me to SSVH for a shorter wait time. I called SSVH and spoke to a employee who told me I would likely be seen right away.
When I arrived I was immediately helped and my dog was taken into X-rays. After about a 45 minute wait I was taken into a meeting room with the doctor. He diagnosed my dog with a fractured leg and lung contusion, but assured me she would be OK. They kept her overnight for observation.
Discharge next day was another ~45 minute wait and meeting with doctor to go over follow-up plans and medication. They emailed me the x-rays and blood work so I could share them with my primary vet.
Price was $1,600 which seems average and reasonable for this type of injury.
All the staff were very friendly and made me feel comfortable during a stressful time.
Gini Johnson
My dog was panting non stop, coughing, shaking her head and couldn’t get comfortable. I was certain it was Bloat. My Vet doesn’t work weekends so I was referred to this emergency vet. It is a chaotic scene. Long wait, lots of people with sick pets and expensive…I liked the girls at the front desk and the blonde female vet on the second day. It was determined on the Second day that she has Giardia. Probably from eating grass in our yard that was contaminated by a urban raccoon, rat or a urban rabbit.
It is very expensive! I had a stool sample. I would think that they could have determined the Giardia on Saturday and not had to have her stay till the afternoon on Sunday.

TLDR: I would not recommend this to be your first choice for emergency care.
I recommend reading the negative reviews to make a decision about whether this is the right place to take your animal. It is true that this hospital prioritizes money over care. I would not recommend this to be your first choice. The staff do appear to be over worked but they are all nice. We had Dr. Goraya and another doctor helping us and they were both very frank and to the point, not necessarily rude. We had to wait very long to see our dog, it was quite concerning that they had to observe him in the back- but we found this to be the case at the Blue Pearl on Madison. The only difference between the two facilities is that blue pearl made the effort to communicate and explain what was happening, there was a nurse on call at night that we could speak to about Alfie’s condition, and the Dr did not rush us off the phone when we needed further explanation. I read the reviews and panicked so we decided to transfer our dog (it was more costly but I felt like we were paying for peace of mind because Blue Pearl over communicated with us and it’s what we needed). On our bill at check out, I had to ask for a detailed invoice because I noticed we were charged beyond the quoted price. They would not have given it to us if we did not ask, and had we not asked, we would not have seen that they had charged us for two X-rays that had not been done on the dog. When I pointed it out, they were quick to remove those charges. There were many other charges on there that I personally felt were unnecessary but I recognize this to be the case at any hospital. As we were leaving, we heard the vet tech try to upsell an x-ray to another pet owner who had just brought their cat in for a vaccine- very loudly in the lobby. I would suggest to use this place as a last resort, but if you have options go elsewhere.

Pet owners be aware — this place pays people to produce fake 5-star reviews — if you read the reviews carefully you’ll notice. The 5-star reviews flood in whenever they get a one star, pretty shady.
As to my own experience with this animal hospital, like others pointed out, they take your pet to the back room and from there you don’t know what’s going on with your pet. You can only pray that they’ll treat your pet nicely and carefully as they should.
Price? They charged us $1,000+ for treating a wound on our cat’s tail (stitches + antibiotic).
The wrapping on our cat’s wound came off as soon as we got home; someone on the phone asked us to take our cat back so that they could re-do the wrapping, but as soon as we returned, they told us the wound is healing very well (in a matter of 2 hrs 😑) so no wrapping needed.. what a joke.
Despite all these, I do appreciate that they are open 24 hrs, and they did treat my cat’s wound, so 3 stars.

I am so grateful for the professional and caring support our dog received at South Seattle Vet. They acted swiftly and provided me with helpful, clear updates each time I called. All of the staff are caring and have excellent customer service. We are so lucky to have found them.
Kaylee Overby
They treated my cat successfully and I am thankful. (Antibiotics, anti inflammatory, and pain meds) I told them if my cat needed surgery I would try to get into my own vet next day. He said my cat needed it. So I declined and I went to my vet next day and they said my cat was doing great. No surgery needed or anything.
I’m not a medical professional so I don’t want to get into it, but they did recommend surgery for an abscess that was not there -_- which happens, he is fluffy, and it’s ok I got a second opinion.
But what if I didn’t??
I would make this place your last option. It’s alarmingly expensive, and the ladies up front were not as professional as I would have hoped. If you can go elsewhere, I would. There’s probably a reason it was the only place we could get into within 50 miles.
But I also think they will do what they can to save your animal. And they did improve my cats condition 100% but I wonder if I went through with the surgery what I would have been charged…. And he didn’t need it… I would have appreciated him saying why don’t you take your cat home for a few days and see if he improves… no. Straight to surgery??? I don’t know how to feel about it.
Side note: just my opinion, but if your animal doesn’t need to be boarded don’t. It seems that they make most their money telling distraught pet owners they need to have their pet stay overnight for $1000+….. and as a pet owner you feel if you say no you are not doing what’s best for your pet. I would just really think it over how critical your pet is before you let them take your pet “overnight”. And if you are distraught/worried about your animal, I would bring someone with a clear head to help you make those tough decisions.

My cat had an emergency at 10pm on a Saturday night. I live in Olympia, and although local vets said he needed to get to a vet that night, they all said they were filled to capacity and couldn’t treat him. After calling 8 vets, although S Seattle said they were filled to capacity, once they knew the situation they agreed to treat him. They kept him overnight to be sure he was alright, and I got a healthy, happy cat back the next morning. Thank you!
Beth Polwarth
My cat developed an abscess while I was gone, I brought him here as soon as I could. They gave him some antibiotics and I brought him back to clean his teeth and examine them closer. The abscess cleared up fast and he's back to his old self. I will say the check in sheet is a little sketchy. I'm still getting texts from another patient who lifted my number from that list.
Eli Jayden
my cat still has brown stains on his front incisors that were there before, which I find odd. its possible that they are permanent stains and they removed some of them.
overall, i get the impression that this vet hospital is a “hurry up. I m happy now.

I had a very pleasant experience with the vet tech Cassie. She's knowledgeable and compassionate, with a sense of humor/ perspective that helps make the stressful things feel better.
Bc of her expertise and personality alone I would definitely recommend this vet
Losifer Losifet
The staff was very courteous, ery friendly and helpful to the clients and their beloved fur babies. One of the aides had carried my cat in his pet carrier, (he weighs 20 lbs and I walk with a cane) which was really helpful to me.
Dennis Herman
South Seattle Vet provided excellent care for our dog. Its staff's friendliness and helpfulness are important selling points. Whenever I emailed or called, I always got a speedy answer along with detailed, helpful information.
Arti Sukla
Superb each and every time... They have always been quite accommodating to my every want. I walked in without an appointment and exited 3 and a half hours later with 11 healthy pups, all of which had had their vaccinations.

My 6 year old kitty had a really scary Christmas! We had seen two vets prior to finding South Seattle Vet and a hefty bill from his previous treatments. Dr Goraya was incredibly understanding and willing to help us save our little guy. He explained the procedure in detail and agreed to keep him an extra day in hospital due to the emotional stress and anxiety we had already been experiencing for the prior week. We have continued to take our cat back to the clinic over the last month for regular care, check ups and additional concerns. The entire staff has been friendly and empathetic to our situation. We aren't in the clear yet but Dr Goraya continues to care for our cat and help us provide him with the best possible care. We are incredibly grateful and thankful to have found this hospital!
I'm giving four stars simply because our kitty isn't in the clear yet but once I can confirm he's 100% okay I will be editing this review to reflect five
stars!
Update:
Our boy requires regular care for UTIs and will eat special food for the rest of his life but thanks to the amazing staff and Dr. Goraya I get to spend more time with my goofy cat. Thank you all so much for everything you do!! If it weren't for the hour + drive we'd go here for every bit of care for our fur babies. We tell everyone we can about the amazing staff at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital and praise everything they've done for us. I've added a picture of the fur ball in question. Thank you again! 💜💜
Kim Bremer
Always top-notch quality... They have been incredibly flexible and attentive to my requests. Not needing an appointment, I walked right in and exited 3.5 hours later with 11 vaccinated and otherwise healthy pups.
Bailey Axel
Dr. Brar was excellent. The place was slammed on Memorial Day and he treated my baby like she was just as important as all the emergencies. The staff could be better coordinated and trained on how to handle operations, but they were slammed too and nothing short of calm and gracious throughout.
Yacine Korchi
Thank you so much for providing care for my pup when nowhere else would take her due to full capacity. Your staff was calm, efficient, and kind despite the business. The price was also fair.
Dishant Pandey
Access to a high-quality animal hospital is not a problem. Without hesitation, I will suggest them to everyone I know. Never let up on the excellent work you've been doing, people.

Our 13 year old cat was very sick. We went to 2 other Vet Hospitals and we were turned away with no referrals or concern for our cat at all. We were finally referred to SS Veterinary Hospital and they have been more than excellent!! Very caring, very quick to help us and the staff is wonderful!! We can't thank you all enough!
Kevin Hugo
Not a single mistake, ever... They went above and above in their assistance and friendliness to me. I showed in without an appointment and took 11 happy, healthy pups home with me 3.5 hours later.

Tommy Trail
My dog's health has much improved since we took her to South Seattle Animal Hospital; she is once again actively eating, playing, and running about. Your consideration for her is much appreciated.
Patt Cummins
The staff here are caring and obviously work very hard. It’s good to have an option for care that is walk in considering the current shortage of veterinary care in the area - especially as pets tend not to wait 6 business weeks before having an urgent need for care. I worry for the staffs mental health as each time I’ve been there, it has been non-stop with true life threatening emergencies as well as end of life euthanasia walk ins. I don’t see opportunities for the staff to process with the fast pace at which they work.
Benjamin hollow
South Seattle Veterinary Hospital is an excellent facility for pets of all kinds. As far as my end is concerned, they receive an A+ without any problems.
Mahfoudh Bourahli
The care my dog received was excellent. The hospital was extremely busy and so communication was slow and hard to reach at times. And I would go back, just need to have patience.
Carlos Kevin

Dr Goraya was amazing as always, he’s fixed up my accident prone boy a couple of times now. Absolutely fantastic care! Dr. Dawson is also great, we didn't see her this time but I wasn’t able to write a review for her. They are all great, but Dr Goraya did the surgery and did a beautiful job. Again. My sincere thanks for the great care of Poko.

Facility is newer and nice. Wait times these vary, don't plan on going anywhere fast. They are at times working with only 1 vet!
There are good vets here and open 24/7! Nice relief for anything short of no other choices in West Seattle. I have heard allot of rumors about this vet clinic but the 2x I have used them they have been good with the medical care of my dogs. South Seattle Vet is a good reasonable vet clinic. After hours prices are the same with just a 50.00 min. charge. Reasonable prices 1/2 of what my vet charges and straight forward care. I wanted to be a skeptic by what I heard...but my experiences have put the rumors to rest. If you live in West Seattle or South of WS consider this South Seattle Vet.

Came here when another ERVet closed service for the night. Easy intake. My dog had to stay overnight and be monitored after getting into raisins. The main vet I worked with was informative and understanding. However the second vet was monotone and lackluster. He didn't follow up as the first vet said he would and kept pushing off my questions. I was told 2 different times to come pick up my dog, came at the later of the two knowing the vet industry is over worked right now and I still had to wait over an hour in a room for my dog to be released. I wish there had been more communication when I placed in the room that it would be a longer wait than normal. If I get told to get my dog will be ready to go at 1 and then call to confirm and get told 3 I'm going to be there at 3. If get there at 2:55, and get placed in a room and I sit until 4 with no interaction it's the lack of acknowledgement that is annoying. I'm super flexible and don't mind waiting longer, but consideration is proper. With that annoyance aside I appreciate their care.

I was referred here by another emergency vet when I was trying to find a place that had openings. I brought my cat in who was very lethargic and had a fever, which ended up being severe constipation. There was virtually no wait when I brought her in at 9pm on a Saturday, and staff were very friendly when I would periodically ask for updates. They were very thorough, taking periodic x-rays to make sure she was good to go home. Price seemed on par or cheaper with other 24 hour emergency vets. I feel very confident in recommending them.
jim rasmussen
Been using them for about 15 years, older 2 dogs that have passed on and our current 5yo, 3 legged guy. Excellent care for all, from well checks to massive neck tumor removal and the dreaded beef O bone wedged in the the bottom jaw. Very happy with all treatments and conduct of the staff..
Magda Nica
After the care my dog received at South Seattle Animal Hospital, she is back to her usual life, eats, plays, runs as she used to do. Thank you for taking such an amazing care of her!
Ana Carranza
I’ve brought all my dogs here and they’ve always done an amazing job. My dogs are family to me and to know that they will be taken care of any time at all is a peace of mind. I live in Puyallup but will make the drive up here just because I know they will see my babies without an appointment and will do a fantastic job in solving their issues. Thanks guys! Rosie, Blue and Nacho thank you 😊

After a pet died at home, we contacted many vets and even the home vet who scheduled the next day to come pick up our dog. All said no or couldn’t help till the following day. One even said get an ice chest, which after a few hours we did go buy one. I contacted South Seattle Vet lady and not only were they compassionate about the situation, they provided a solution. Upon arriving to the vet, the nice girl at the desk, was amazing and kind and could gauge that I was lost and uncomfortable about the options. She provided me with examples and even spoke in a lower voice as not to upset the others waiting for pets. She even provided me with an options to bring the dog to the back of the building and not have everyone see my poor passed dog. From the day from hell to this person and business, thank you.

I needed urgent help with a (self) fostering kitten (after calling many places, I thought my only option was euthanasia) and everyone at the hospital from my initial phone calls, the receptionists, Dr Brar whose thoughtful, kind, expert help gave me options that saved Kitten, and Kyle whose care and kindness helped both Kitten and myself - I am deeply grateful.
I admire the good caring values that are clearly part of the professional expert veterinary services that are offered, kudos to the Hospital organization and management for fostering that. :) I strongly recommend South Seattle Veterinary Hospital.
Thank you everyone at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital for your care and expert help with saving Kitten! :)

Took my new puppy Zupa to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital(SSVH) due to him being dehydrated. Me and my girlfriend had called several other animal hospitals that night and SSVH was the only Hospital accepting new patients and they didn't have a 12+ hour wait time. My puppy needed to be seen right away because we didn't want him to have parvo. When we arrived I went inside to check Zupa in. The lady at the front desk was super friendly and gave me a few papers to sign and then I was told to wait and get a call. We only waited about 1.5hr and then we went back inside and handed Zupa off. At the end of his visit it was ruled he didn't have parvo and was just dehydrated. We were given prescriptions for food and drugs for his stomach and fluid levels. Total cost was about 280$, which I think is very reasonable. Thank you SSVH for saving my puppy! He is doing great now!!!

They are really amazing here. We first started bringing our cats here because our primary vet was out of town and they let us come in the same day. One of our cats had to have surgery and then we had to go back a couple times because they had worms. They have honestly been so great and accommodating that we have decided to start taking our cats here from now on. They really just make what would be a very stressful situation that much easier. The prices are a lot cheaper than our old vet too.
Analisa palomera
My pup got into a fight while camping and I had to bring her in suddenly. Despite saying they didn’t have room, after hearing her circumstances they made space to fit her in the same night. She had to stay overnight and get surgery on her eye. They called me first thing in morning to come get her and they did a wonderful job repairing her eye lid. It healed well
and she’s back to her old self. Thank you!!

I have fostered and adopted many animals over the years to include cats, dogs, a ferret, a turtle, and two birds and I will not take any animal to any other veterinary service. From day 1 SSVH has shown nothing but compassion and dedication to animals in need. Their staff from vet techs to doctors to front desk has taken the time to provide the absolute best care.

My cat, Beau was in good hands with the doctors .Although I was was worried because I didn't know what was the problem. but when the doctor told me what was wrong, i was relieved. I am very glad they they took him in this pandemic and yes I will bring him back if anything comes up which I hope it doesn't. Thank you doctors for taking care of, Beau.

My cat had a severe reaction to a flea treatment. They were fairly full but took her in. She spent two days there and came out very vibrant, and clean. They kept me updated on her status and treatment.
They saved my cat's life so I am eternally grateful for that.
Monica Riikula
I have been taking my dogs and cats to south Seattle vet for years. There prices are competitive with other vets. It’s nice to be able to bring your pet in at any time As long as you don’t mind waiting. They are compassionate about your pets and seem to really care about the well being of your pets
Eric Moss
I'll start with the positive. The vet technicians, receptionist staff and Dr Goraya, who saved my cat, did an fantastic job. I am very thankful for their hard work in an extremely high stress, and I'm sure, somtimes unforgiving work environment. What they do is not easy and they deserve kudos and if I could I would take them all out to dinner and drinks.
And now for the one negative...Dr McCray who was to the Hospital doctor on shift when I arrived at 10 pm on Sunday night. She was unprofessional, disrespectful, short, and admitted to being upset at me for asking her questions about the $4.5k surgery required to remove a linear foreign object from my cat. She then proceeded to question the radiologist, and other veterinary doctor from the Animal Medical Center of Seattle, where my cat was transfered from, insisting that he did not need surgery and that injecting him with IV fluids would help him pass the foreign object. I don't believe she gave him a proper examination, because when Dr Goraya arrived 2 hrs later, he looked at the x-rays, and found the linear foreign object wrapped around the back of my cat's tongue. He told me he needed to immediately begin surgery. Thank God he did because there was a massive amount of thread in his intestines, and if had gone any longer the intestines could have become perforated and leakage may of occured, leading to sepsis. Dr McCray does not seem to enjoy her job, and has a dangerous ego that could have led to the negligent death of an animal.
I would recommend people to this hospital completely dependent upon who is the lead Doctor at the time.

Our cat was having issues peeing, started laying on her side just pushing outside the litter box. Was able to call and talk to the support staff and get information we needed. Rushed to the place, and was taken care of. Friendly staff, and they definitely made sure to help relieve stress.

I am very thankful for this hospital. My doggo had been throwing up for several hours and I initially just thought it was some type of stomach bug but after he started throwing up blood, I knew it was serious. I called about 10 vets in the area and they were all at capacity and couldn’t take him that early in the morning. When I called South Seattle, they told me to bring him right in and were able to see him immediately. He had to stay overnight and get X-rays and what not. I am very satisfied with the cost because not only was it an emergency in the early morning but it was a weekend and in my experience, that is more costly. My baby boy is back to his normal self and I am just so thankful for all of their help! It’s far from my home but I am going to make them my primary vet!

Everyone is very friendly and show's each customer compassion and love. They tell you what is going on and all the fees upfront so we can make a decision.
Harkaran Hans
Very professional, clean hospital, friendly staff and all around great service. I transferred my dog here from Blue Pearl (do not ever go to Blue Pearl!) and Dr. Guaraya was able to take him right away. Not only was he very understanding but empathetic to our situation. Would highly recommend this facility!!!

It is nice to be back to being able to make appointments for routine visits. I really appreciate how caring the staff is for every pet.

Time is 7pm Friday, I just pick my kitten from my Cat Clinic after follow up procedure after neutering. Kitten has internal bleeding that they could not stop and told me that my best option is go to Emergency. Nightmare out of nothing, healthy kitten that I gave them.. I’m in front of Kirkland’s Seattle Veterinary Specialists. They told me they are at capacity and gave a list of other vet emergencies. Calling one-by-one. No response, again at capacity, 7 hours wait time, don’t do surgeries, etc. - no luck till next call happen to be to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital. First big difference - human voices on other side, with empathy. Asking their Doc, short answer - yes, we can stop bleeding, bring him in. In 40 minutes I’m there and talking to Dr. Goraya. . Next day I picked my lovely one after one more surgery with the bleeding fixed. All was fast, convenient, and very professional. I love this hospital.

Everyone was excellent the women who were on the front desk were friendly helpful knowledgeable Pleasant, dr. mchaffie was excellent I was very happy with him the clinic was nice and clean it was a really good experience
Kasia Sliwinska
Dr. Dawson is amazing. Very carrying, professional, and knows her stuff. She even stayed late one day to stitch up my puppy when he got attacked by another dog. I highly recommend Dr. Dawson!
I cannot give 5 stars however because of two reasons. One: the lobby staff needs to figure out their rotation better. Frequently there was no one at the front desk to answer calls or questions. I have had calls hug up on me and almost didn't make my appointment one time. I received a call to come in (the call took a few minutes), then came in a few minutes later, and had to wait for a receptionist which made the time between getting the call and seeing someone at the front desk too long to the point where they put you at the end of the line. Fortunately they did let me see a vet. So I appreciate that.
I also want to note that the lobby staff is very nice and helpful. They just need to get more organized.
Two: the other doctor (I don't remember his name), completely disregarded anything I said when I brought my older dog in when I noticed some issues with his back legs. He gave him a wrong diagnosis with a question mark at the end that cost me $400. I'm really glad for Dr. Dawson who knew immediately what was wrong when I came back the next day.

Dr. Dawson and the staff at South Seattle Veterinary Hospital are wonderful! We have had to make difficult decisions regarding the care of my mom's elderly poodle and the treatment of invasive tumors. The front desk staff are always welcoming and Dr. Dawson always takes the time to thoroughly examine, consult, and discuss all treatment options. We truly appreciate the care given and know we are receiving sound advice in difficult situations. Thank you Dr. Dawson and staff!

I had to put my dog down recently and opted for the private cremation. They were very helpful and kind during this process despite me being a wreck.
Yesterday I picked up my dogs remains and I was astounded by how much effort went into it. See attached photo. Had me crying all over again.
Vanessa Phelps
The entire staff is very caring and careful with your pet. My 15 year old dog has been there four times and had an emergency surgery. I trust them completely and will continue to take her there. The only downside is they are so busy and need to expand!! :)
Johanna Sori
I’m from Florida and my dog got sick on our road trip. All vets were at capacity for emergency visits and this was the only place that had availibiity. Due to many factors during COVID you need to prepare and accept that you will have long wait times anywhere you go. Staff is stressed out due to the puppy boom during Covid. They are trying their best with the resources they have. All the negative reviews on here seem to be in regards to financial issues. I can tell you as a life long dog owner the prices seem standard. Don’t judge this place by some
of these reviews having to do with prices. These prices are very standard in comparison to the vets back home in Florida. The front fest staff was friendly and ran around trying to help everyone they could. My dog seems to be happy and I’m glad they helped us out on such a short notice. Hope that the vet sector gets more people interested in the field so they can alleviate the stress on all the staff and doctors.

This is Sophie and I took her to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital for a condition called Pyometra. It requires emergency spay and my boyfriend and I did not have the money at the time for much to help my pup. The doctor there charged me for just the medication to hopefully get her through until we could come up with the money for the surgery. We finally were able to have the surgery done and they were so kind and caring. Sophie was in good hands and now she is healthy and happy again. I called several other animal hospitals begging them to help me save my dog, but none could work with me. South Seattle Veterinary Hospital was the only one that would. I am so thankful to them for saving my pups life. The first pic is before I took her in, the second pic is after her surgery. I’m so glad she is back to her old self.
Corey Torgerson
Great veterinary treatment and prices. Has been overwhelmed a bit by a surge in demand for veterinary services lately but bear in mind it's primarily an emergency vet. There is a bit of a wait sometimes but when my parents dog was having breathing difficulty and 6 other vets turned them away south Seattle got her right in and took care of it.

Wow. How to begin? On the night of March 24 2022, my beautiful 11 year old boy got very sick. South Seattle vet were the only place that could see him and they were an hour away by bus. Several hours later, we left a very sick kitty knowing the surgeon would review his xrays at noon the next day. They gave us a room , the news was bad, ruptured bladder and flooded abdonen, exploratory surgery or emminent death.
They gave us a private room to try to wrap our heads around the earthquake that just struck our family. They gave us time to notify family and for them to get there, one hour by bus.
Once the decision was made for a soft send off, they let us have as much time as we needed. My Elijah Blue was treated with care and dignity. The vets, technicians and front desk staff were amazing. I had instant trust in them and they were honest, fair and understanding of our pain. I cannot recommend enough.
Hayley Young
South Seattle was there for me. When your pet is having a medical emergency it is heartbreaking to be told there is no space for you. South Seattle took us when no one else was able to. Expect wait times, the demand is so high in the city, it’s to be expected to be in line with many fellow pet owners dealing with equally stressful circumstances. I appreciated the systems that were in place to allow me to wait with my pup in my car, the patient rooms to consult with doctors one on one and the genuine care I felt from the doctors.
Laura Ross
We brought our dog in with a poisoning emergency on a Sunday. She was triaged right away, and extremely well cared for throughout her entire stay. The hospital is extremely busy, so wait times can be long. However, the staff is caring and works diligently to keep things moving along. We really appreciated that they were there for us when our family needed them.
Chris Yosting
It is great having a place where you don't have to wait 3 weeks to see a vet. Dr. Brar was good. The other doctor didn't seem to care. They charged $6 per prescription. That is, after I spent over $1,000 for testing and pet care. That should tell you something. I have never been charged for a prescription with a regular doctor or vet until this place.
Garry Symonds
My dog's eating, playing, and running are all normal again because to South Seattle Animal Hospital. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
sarah koehler
Both of my pets (cat and dog) are treated by SSVH. I appreciate their sense of urgency and their kindness in treating my animals. If you are looking to be coddled at the vet, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for consistent and careful care of your pet this is the place to go.
Anita Dagner-Stratton
Very thankful for this vet. Everywhere I went had 5-6 hours wait time for an emergency. My kitty was lethargic and not eating or drinking and since his vitals were stable, I couldn’t get in anywhere ASAP.
South Seattle Vet saw us in after 1 hour and ran tests, X-rays and an ultrasound…my kitty needed an IV to hydrate and they kept him overnight for tests and monitoring. They called me ASAP in the morning and kept me informed about my choices and results of the tests. They were very upfront about the fees and recommendations.
Got medication and help, he is back to himself now. I honestly don’t think he would have pulled through another day without help. I’m eternally grateful.
Nandlal dev
My little lady one was in and out in a matter of minutes. She is doing fine today. Love the service.
Au petit dragon
EXELLENT! Personable and knowledgeable staff and top-notch Veteranarians! And their prices are low cost, but their services ARE NOT! TRIPLE THUMBS UP!
Shayla Behling
Called in the middle of the night all scared about my pups bleeding. They helped me assess him, listened to me, asked relevant questions and ultimately suggested I follow up with my vet (saving me dollars!) instead of bringing him in. Would totally call in the middle of the night again😅 …
Noureddine Benzerafa
The staff was so helpful and kind. We really appreciated how supportive they were for our dog’s needs.
Samantha Crouch
On my way to the airport to pick up my puppy I noticed my older dog, Bebe had really pale gums. I called 6 or 7 vets and emergency vets and could not get her in anywhere. South Seattle vet was the only hospital that would take us. We saw multiple vets over the course of four days, our favorite being Dr. Brar. He was compassionate, informative, and gentle with Bebe. There were some long wait times but that’s expected in an emergency clinic. We ended up losing her to immune mediated hemolytic anemia but we really appreciate everything they did for us.
Lisa Thomas
They are always so helpful and courteous. The have taken care of my cat through several ailments.
Suresh Choudry
Everyone was helpful, most were friendly, and the price was affordable. To be honest, the wait was a little long but I was glad Juneau was seen today.
Pirate Chuck
I rescued a kitten that had been tortured and shot in the front leg, I took the kitten to several vet hospitals and I could not afford to save him. South Seattle Veterinary Hospital made it possible. That was quite a few years ago. That little guy is living a wonderful life with 3 legs and we are grateful for SSVH. Thank You Thank You Thank You!!!
John Cecil
Both my dogs are seen here! Great staff! Caring Drs and vet techs. ALWAYS do their best to provide the best care and attention to my pets. I'm very happy with this vet and highly recommend them!
LaVon Longtin
Still one of the better ones.
I've had to make several emergency trips here over the last 10 years with both dogs and cats.
They're still one of the better animal hospitals around. Reasonable in their prices and kind and compassionate.
Mike Belknap
We had as good an experience as we could have given what why we were there. Our old Lab (15+) woke up and couldn’t move his back legs. They were the only vet open at 6 on a Saturday. It was a busy day, but they managed to get us in in about 45 minutes. We were able to let him rest outside in the car with us while we waited. They brought out a gurney to help get him in to the hospital. Vet explained everything well and our options, given his age and likelihood he had a stroke, it was time to let him go. They were very kind and compassionate, did not try to push anything, just laid out options. They helped us through a difficult time, glad they were there.
Dylan Kinsler
Great staff and doctors. I didn’t want to leave a good review because I don’t want people to find out about this place.
I called many animal hospitals to see my dog for a CT scan to find out what was wrong, nobody could see him for days or weeks but SSVH took him in as soon as they could. The staff had excellent communication and the Drs explained possible scenarios and options of what they could do, the experience I received was outstanding. SSVH was constantly busy and phones were ringing non stop, the pricing is fair and based on your animal and weight so they can treat them correctly so don’t expect a cheap bill, the staff was so gracious at handling my dog and situation and he was happy with them, it is so hard to find such a great place so please bare with them and know you are at the right place for great help. Thank you to the staff and the doctors for such great help.
Nicholas Jakini
Staff was very warm and empathetic about our beloved cats unfortunate condition. Everything about this location makes me want to go back there for everything from checkups and surgery. Please dont fault them for wait times or get frustrated. Its frustrating for everyone to have to see a vet and it was very apparent that they were working very hard while I was there and doing their best to help as many animals as possible. 5/5 and I would rate even higher if they let me.

Thank you so much for taking good care of my girl! She was attacked by another dog and ended up with some pretty severe bites. I moved recently and couldn't get in to any of the emergency vets in my area, so was a little frantic when I called - you said you could get her right in.
She stayed over night and was none the worse for wear this morning when I picked her up.
Both doctors were super helpful, friendly, and communicative, as was the front desk staff.
I hope I don't ever need an emergency vet again, but if I do, I'll come straight to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital!
Dan Washburn
We came here with a pet emergency. Our normal vet was closed and our large dog had a massive seizure. I called several places frantically and was more or less blown off by them. Finally, I contacted South Seattle Vet Hospital, who saw us promptly and gave our dog humane treatment. They were compassionate with us and were clear about what was best for our animal in addition to costs. I'm very grateful to them.
Adam Tyson
The manager at the front desk is very supportive and professional. I’ve always had a great experience here until the experience with her the other day.
Forest Hunter Pixie Bobs
The team at South Seattle Veterinary provided prompt and expert care to my cat when she experienced difficulties birthing. They saved her life! Prices are within the typical range of what you'd expect to pay for an emergency C-section with a spay. Dr. Goraya is straight forward and to the point. This has been the second time his surgical skills saved one of my cats.
Kim Amsberry
I have nothing but glowing words about my experience with South Sound Veterinary. I showed up on a Sunday afternoon with a senior Frenchie who was in clear discomfort/pain after a fall the day before. They were very kind and took care of him quickly while they were busy with regular appointments and other emergencies. I am so grateful to their attention and professionalism and have no hesitation in recommending them.
Ann Schroeder
Knowledgeable receptionists.
Excellent communication. The vet explained all of the treatment options and respected my choice.
I had to wait a long time, but that is the nature of an emergency clinic. A severely injured dog was brought in, and that meant a longer wait time for me. I completely understand and agree with helping the injured pup before my cat with digestive issues.
Michelle Martin
The team at South Seattle Vet helped us through a very difficult situation.
They fit us in even though we were not regular patients and took the best care possible of our cat. Dr Brar was very compassionate and committed to answering any questions I had.
If they seem short on staff or challenged with schedules it's because of the significant shortage of veterinarians and tech's across the US.
Camille Ritchie
My senior dog needed some extractions and every place I called was booked until October. I could tell she was in a lot of pain as she was constantly whineing could not relax at home. I went in at 7pm on a Monday and she was seen that night for an appointment. Turns out her front teeth were infected (she will not let me brush them!) and they got her in for extractions the next day. I felt nervous to leave my dog somewhere I have never been before but the Vet Techs were so kind to her and to me even while they were super busy with the phone ringing off the hook. Her DVM was straightforward about what was needed and upfront about the cost. He did mention that she would have to stay overnight which I thought was unessesary, so he agreed to letting me bring her in in the morning. Everything went smoothly and I am so thankful they were able to help my sweet girl. It was a bit stressful that day, as they were suppose to call me between 10am and noon after pre-op tests to get my authorization to proceed. We'll, that never happened so I took off work and was super stressed for no reason. As it turns out the pre-op was completely normal so they went ahead with everything. If things were iffy, and I didn't get a call, I would probably feel different about that. She's already feeling back to her normal self and is no longer in pain. I. So glad they could get her in, as many places have a 10-12 hour wait, have to divert or only accept if it's life or death. Thank you again South Seattle Vet!
Franklin Russell
So happy with latest visit. enough staff. I like the people there always have and pleased with Dr Goraya and Dr Bhatti....
Victoria Baber
I've been taking all 3 of my dogs here for the past 4 years. I love this place and completely trust all vets and staff with the well-being of my pets. They are very well priced, honest, and continuously provide me with updates, ESPECIALLY when my dogs have had to stay overnight for monitoring when sick. They don't start charging 'emergency fees' until really late, I believe not until after 11pm (not sure, but I've come in LATE with no additional fees). I understand that sometimes picking up your pet can take a while due to COVID and building capacity restrictions, but they are extremely thorough with their diagnostics and treatment plans. I receive a couple of follow-up phone calls from them after I bring my pets home, and I've always left with the confidence that they genuinely care. They are consistent and will be sure to call me to ask permission to rerun tests or perform another procedure that may cost more before even considering it, so there has never been a surprise charge on my bill. I've had them throw in additional x-rays and bloodwork test reruns for free because they really wanted to be sure they didn't miss anything, and they clearly care more about my dogs' well-being than the money. I will always take my pets here and continue to recommend my close friends and family to trust them with their pets. Excellent service every time. Thank you to the team at this establishment!
Stephanie Nguyen
We have been so pleased with their care from start to finish! They were wonderful in a crisis - cared for our pet compassionately, and tended to our human concerns professionally and empathetically.
Lori Romine
It’s not the care that we receive as to why I’m giving 3 stars. It’s the fact that they don’t take appointments. They don’t put your name on the list until you are waiting in their parking lot. I brought my dog in for his shots. We had to wait in a hot car for one hour and 45 minutes. He didn’t see the Vet, and was back to me in 15 minutes. I understand about COVID and not wanting a lot of people in the waiting room, but come on. They need to restructure their front desk.
Whitney H
They have always been accommodating when it comes to getting our pets in, especially during COVID, when others turned us away.
Communication can be slow, but we know to call or email and usually can get a response within a reasonable amount of time, if we need to be persistent.
They have been accurate with all their diagnosis and care for all of our 4 dogs over the past 12years and have even diagnosed illnesses that our regular vets had missed. They have always given us all the options for levels of care and the pricing before we start and up front with expectations. The front desk staffing has been a little hit and miss over this time, but we have been happy overall with the care we have received when needed.
Jacqueline Zuidema
We've had two cats and they have always responded to their emergencies with a great deal of care and thoroughness. We had to put one down last year, a very difficult and emotional time for us. They were compassionate and made sure we had our privacy and comfort while saying our goodbyes. Afterwards we also received a lovely note signed by all the staff.
We just rescued a puppy and we will be in next week for a wellness check up and vaccinations. There pricing is very reasonable and they will give you all of your options.
Heather Gallaher
This place was amazing!! We took our dog to a walk-in clinic and were told immediately to take her to get emergency surgery...we called many many places with no help because they were at max capacity. The vet clinic never opened a file, so they didn't transfer her care. Needless to say, I called here and was told to bring her in immediately, and she had the surgery within hours and we picked up the next day at noon. Great staff and amazing help!! Thank you so much!
Dannette Hooper
My Aunt’s dog was very sick and we had spent over an hour and called 8 emergency vets because our regular vet could not see him. These guys were beyond awesome! You call from the parking lot. You go in and they triage the dogs. In the end we had to put Andy down which they did with such compassion. I highly recommend South Seattle Veterinary Hospital.
Brad Safford
When our 21 year old cat had an emergency, no other emergency vet in Snohomish or King county has space for her, but South Seattle was able to see her in under an hour. They gave her wonderful care and we were able to bring her back home, happy and on the road back to health in less than 24 hours.
Karen Calderon
I found this place on Google after being turned down from many other surrounding vet hospitals due to "full capacity." My dog was having a medical emergency and I was turned away from other places after asking them what their exam fee cost. I called South Seattle Veterinary Hospital and the receptionist was very nice and let me know they accept walk ins. The receptionist was up front about what they might do, xrays, blood work and exam, and she was able to give me a rough estimated cost or each of those over the phone. I wasn't exactly sure what the issue was with my dog. He had woke up yelping in pain and I couldn't pin point where or what was causing it. We had Dr. Brar initially and I'm super impressed by how well he explained everything. He recommended blood work and xrays to get started. He thoroughly went over the results and discussed all options. Since I have health insurance for my pet, I was able to send it for pre-approval and get the recommended treatment pre approved from my insurance since they accept Trupanion. The imaging showed a slipped disk in his neck with inflammation. It was recommended he stay over night for evaluation and IV medications. I'm so happy that's what we decided on. I knew the doctors and staff were compitent and I could trust them with, let's face it, my fur child. We were sent home the next day with all medications and a future plan in case things don't improve. I've heard others say they waited a long time, that may be so, but I am totally fine with waiting. The staff was extremely nice and understanding, the doctors were knowledgeable and caring, and considering this was an emergency with an over night stay, they made it worth any sort of wait. Their prices are also very affordable compared to other surrounding hospitals. I'm definitely returning and having them as my regular vet from now on.
Celestina Chung
Had the best experience there after being told at a different clinic that their quota was met and they wouldn’t be seeing any more patients that day. The front staff was great and Dr. Dawson was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable there and fully explained everything. Took amazing care of my boy and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a trusting, caring vet.
Courtney S
Vet hospitals are hectic places, but I felt treated well here once I finally got someone on the phone. The doctor explained my options and the 3 types of diagnostics he recommended, and I was able to choose which to do.
It did take calling twice and being on hold 20 minutes both times to reach them on the phone though. I eventually tried "this is a medical emergency", rather than "a medical question or issue", which is why it's 4/5. My cat needed treatment that day, but was not actively dying, so I wasn't sure what to do. This was especially hard during COVID when their door said you have to call before entering the office.
Deni Raj
My dog got a fever, and they did a fantastic job of bringing it down. Thanks a tonne; it means a lot to us.
Darla Falls
The Vets and techs were all wonderful.
The reason that I took a star away was because of the check in process.
I was on hold in the parking lot for 50 mins to drop my dog off for a procedure.
When they called and told me she was ready I went and was waiting in the car for 35 minutes. It just seems like there should be a better process.
Teresa
i have been taking my pets to South Seattle Veterinary for over 10 years. The doctors are excellent. When my Pomeranian, Bitsy was having issues, about four years ago, they immediately knew that she had bladder stones and had to have surgery to remove them. She was like a new dog after healing from that intense procedure. The whole clinic was very supportive and so thoughtful and caring when I had to make the incredibly difficult decision to have my girl put to sleep a few months ago. It's nice to know that they are very understanding of what you, personally are going through in those painful times. I highly recommend South Seattle Veterinary!
Susan Stewart
My pet was admitted quickly and in a short period of time the vet checked my pet and met with me. My pet was admitted and spent 20 hrs.at the hospital. If not for their care there is no doubt he would have died. I was told they would call me in the morning (late evening admittance) but that I should feel free to call and check. I did call in the morning and a vet quickly returned my call and updated me. They had asked to observe him until 7 pm but the vet asked me to call back at 3, which I did t which point they said they felt he could come home. When I picked him up, a vet met with me and explained test results, etc. English was the 2nd language for the vet and with the mask, the echo effect of the room and my compromised hearing I did have some difficulty in understanding but doesn't mean my pet didn't receive excellent care. The day after I brought him home, the clinic followed up with a text message asking how my pet was doing.
Michael Curtis
Chelsey at the front desk and Cyndi the Veterinarian were great. Kind and helpful and best of all nice to my dog. I will take my dog here next time.

South Seattle Veterinary Hospital provides compassionate and reliable care when your pet needs it, any time of day
Carlos Menjivar
Inexpensive, but i don't feel I am given warm friendly treatment and information when I take my Pup there. communication between staff is not great. had to call multiple times to get my pups chart sent over to a new Vet; and spoke with like 4 different staff that when reading the notes, they were incomplete and had no idea what i was talking about and no mention about my request or the information i had already provided.
Louis Bennett
The care used towards our animals are so kind and caring, the customer service towards us is the best one out there
Sarah
Some of the lowest prices for emergency animal services and the medical care is quality but the bedside manner of some of the doctors needs work. Also during my last visit I felt like the lower cost alternatives to overnight hospitalization and $850 worth of medical treatment including testing were not pointed out. I was not told that I could get my cat an IV fluid treatment for 30 minutes and be sent home with antibiotics all for $150. I had to figure that out on my own. Granted further testing would have been required to fix the underlying issue (dental). The fact is she felt a lot better after a few days and I was able to do some fundraising for my cat to pay for the testing she needed and took her to her regular vet.
Britt Haak
The staff here are so caring and amazing! My fur baby took a turn for the worst and I just googled vets and stumbled upon this one. I called to see what services they provided and for what cost. I knew my 12+yr old hound mix had made it to the end of her journey and I expressed that, the staff speaking with me was so kind and understanding and helped me through it because I was having a hard time. Then when I arrived the staff at the front desk were so caring and even referred to my dog as my “baby” and I really loved that. My dog was absolutely my universe for 7 incredible years and we traveled the country together. It helped me during this difficult process- of saying good bye to my best friend- the way the staff were so comforting and gentle (and I broke down and ugly cried pretty hard, but the staff were so great about it). They treated my dog as my family and that’s what she was to me. Some other places I had taken her to over the years were cold and just clinical as if she was just some dog; not this place. During the process they put a blanket over my dog which was a nice comforting touch for both of us. She just seemed so at ease here too and it was a peaceful way for her to go. I am so grateful for this place and the care we received. (To top it off though, they had the lowest cost I could find south seattle-south king county area.)
Lisa Jasper
This is the only 24 hour vet in this area. I am so grateful to the staff at this hospital. They saved the life of my therapy cat, Crumpet, when she was little she broke her hip, and the vet here did surgery. All cat and dog humans should have pet insurance, it goes with the territory of having a pet, and I have never had problems with the staff submitting my claims. They are kind and will do whatever it takes to help me keep my lovies well. My cats are about as important as it gets, and they deserve the best vet, thank you South Seattle Vet for being there when I need you.

We went here because it was 3am and we live a block away. I have a 7 month puppy and she was non stop coughing and vomiting. We called and the person on the phone was very nice and told us to come in if she continued. She did so we went in. We were the only people there, the vet looked at her and came and spoke with us. They ended up doing blood work to make sure she didn’t have a serious infection and they ended up giving her a couple shots for the coughing and some antibiotics to take home. I think it was a fair price for the services and we were in and out quick. She’s curled up next to me sleeping. No coughing so I say it’s a win for now. We will see if she gets better in the next couple of days.

This clinic gets an A+++ from us. Our German Shepherd was turned away at 3 other emergency vet clinics for a serious intestinal problem. We called South Seattle Veterinary and they told us to bring him in right away. We did and they probably saved his life. The staff was great and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Thanks South Seattle Veterinary!

This is an an affordable and good quality veterinarian who has compassion and cares for animals well being. They are knowledgeable. It's awesome they are open 24 hours. I have two small dogs and two cats, and all of them have had great treatment, both preventative and emergency service. The veterinarians are compassionate and kind people, and share cost structures for treatments up front, and they provide reasonably priced services for the treatments they recommend. What's more, the reception staff are friendly, efficient, and work tirelessly to help their canine and feline patients.

I don't know where to start. I'm torn. The front desk staff was amazing! They took the time with me on the phone to explain the emergency walk-in protocol and process and potential costs. I understand they are VERY busy so I wasn't upset to wait once I got there. They took my tiny pomeranian back pretty quickly given she was struggling to breathe and just as I had expected Dr. Goraya confirmed she had congestive heart failure (it was very advanced. He did not explain that to me unfortunately). I tried asking questions to get a better idea of what to expect and he was a bit short with me. It's frustrating to feel like your questions aren't rational or somehow are an inconvenience to the one person who can actually answer them.
I turned down the overnight observational stay simply because I couldn't afford it. He sent me with medications without really explaining that they might not help. I wasn't prepped for any worst case scenarios or told to prepare to say goodbye to my sweet little girl. I knew in my heart we were at the end, but without proper information it's hard to know how to proceed. Not to mention, when you love your little one any moment of seeming normalcy feels like an encouragement, like somehow your dog might pull through.
My little Giselle did fight and she was "perky" (as one of the vet techs put it). She was trying to be okay, even though she was literally running out of oxygen. I would much rather have been sent home with the knowledge that the medication they gave me would most likely not help and have the opportunity to prepare for the inevitable than to be given medication with the "hope" her condition would improve.
2 days later it was evident she was beyond the struggle to breathe and super uncomfortable. I took her back to have her put down, but instead, I was put in a room for almost 2 hours. Evidently, they were expecting me to tell them when I was ready?? But I was never told that. When I decided that maybe I could just wait until they next day I was assured that their would be more staff tmrw and the entire procedure could be done in front of me while I stayed in the room. So I left... 2 hours later...
I had to take her to another hospital where unfortunately she died a tragic, distressed death. If only I could have given her the peaceful departure I was trying to give her at South Seattle Vet. I didn't even get to say a final goodbye (that's a review for another hospital... Blue Pearl... It was so traumatizing and unnecessarily unfortunate).
All in all I think this is a good place. They are stressed and understaffed. The vet I saw was direct (which I appreciated) and short (I could've done without that), but ultimately, he could've left me with more information. I was okay with having to end her life to spare her the eventual pain and torture I think she ended up having to experience. I'm saddened things worked out the way they did, but honestly I believe I would be willing to go back to this place if I still had a dog to take to them. My only advice is to ask the hard questions up front. Don't expect to be communicated with on the level you'll probably need to be. Be prepared and take every precaution you can in order to spare your baby an awful death.
I'm disappointed more than upset. I, after all, did make the choice to leave. However, had I been given any information or shown some care while I sat in a stuffy hot room for 2 hours, I can say without a doubt I wouldn't have. I could've ended my baby's life with the love and peacefulness I went their in the first place to experience.
So, just consider yourself informed. Take action. Advocate for your needs. Listen to your gut. And ask for help. Ask questions. Lots and lots of questions.

We took our dog in at around 2 in the morning after non-stop vomiting. The vet and veterinary assistant were both good with Lucy, who is very hesitant around new people. They suggested she stay overnight for x-rays and blood work since we didn't know of anything she may have eaten to cause her illness. We were given an estimate up front, which was much lower than what we paid for similar treatment for our cat at an emergency vet in Portland. We were only required to pay half up front which we appreciated. We got a call from the vet first thing in the morning explaining the results. While they wanted to keep her all day to see how she progressed, we were leaving town so they let us keep copies of the blood work and emailed the xrays in case we needed to call another vet. When we went to pick her up, everyone was very friendly and the vet took his time explaining the treatment, what we should do, and what we should come back in for. Overall it was a very good experience, we would recommend this vet.

I was impressed today with the staff and doctors. My Pom mix got a tooth pulled and has had a small wound on her face and they took good care of her today. They made me feel comfortable and like my animal was cared for throughout the day. But wow great prices... and great prices on flea medicine!! Definitely taking my two cats here also :) thank you 😊

I needed to bring my dog here for treatment at the last minute and I honestly wasn't sure what to expect but I was more than happy with their services. The doctor was up front about what needed to be done and the costs involved. Their prices were very fair and they continued to check up after we took him home.
NOTE: Get insurance for your pets, people. Yah, it's $40 a month for the best plan but you'll be happy you have it when you need it.

I love this vet they have saved three of my dog's lives one from parvo, one from an obstruction caused by a bone that he ate and another who ended up getting mauled by a dog. They are a busy clinic so just keep in mind that it takes a while for them to call you about results but if you're curious or worried about your pets results you can always give them a call and ask.

I’ve brought my cat and two dogs here for emergencies over the past 8 years. Every experience has been great. Even the middle of the night they are able to help. The doctor’s surgery skills are excellent. Their prices are reasonable. I recommend this clinic for acute issues needing immediate attention.

First, the staff at the front desk are SO kind even when you’re in a mind set of emergency and scared for your pet. I called them 4am and for my poor dog and they were ready to go and friendly as ever when I got there.
The doctor was very kind and thorough. That poor doctor and what we put him through! We had to leave our dog there for almost 24 hours and I would call almost every hour & a half to check in (i’m a crazy dog mom). I was just so worried and they knew it. How many times my boyfriend and i talked to that doctor & front desk workers i’m sure they wanted to block me LOL. but they were so sweet and i did feel safe leaving him there. We decided we wanted to bring him home around 12am because he had been there so long and against doctors orders, we took him. but the doctor was very understanding and we had made an appointment at our normal vet for the rest of his problems to be examined. THANK YOU GUYS.

South Seattle Animal Hospital saved my dog's life - this is not an exaggeration.
They were the ONLY hospital that I called out of 20 that not only had a surgeon on staff during the holiday weekend, but could also take him and medically board him until he could be operated on. His prognosis is EXCELLENT and as long as we rest his jaw until the first week of September he should make a full recovery!
When other places that I left messages for on the weekend called me back, none of them had room. Most never even called me back. They just ghosted me. Without South Seattle Veterinary Hospital he might still be broken or much worse!!!
Please try South Seattle Animal Hospital for your trauma and surgery needs!

I was very pleasantly surprised at how low my bill was! I ended up spending 5 hours there as they were very busy, long waits. But so it is these days, I had to drive from Everett to South Seattle for care because every emergency place between was at capacity. After I left the doc called me with results of the blood test, which I appreciated.

I have been to this hospital on two occasions for pet emergencies. The first time was when my neighbor's cat had sudden heart failure in the middle of the night. We were seen immediately. The staff was kind, efficient in letting us know what was going on, and understanding as sadly she had to be put down. The second time I utilized their services was on a Sunday afternoon when my cat fell 8 feet and was bleeding severely. We rushed her there and were seen in front of others waiting as the bleeding would not stop. They were able to treat her wound and run x-rays to make sure she did not have internal bleeding, broken bones, etc.. We were very lucky she only had a lacerated paw. The staff treated and wrapped her paw, gave us antibiotics to give her, and we were to return in two days for them to check the wound. We were seen fairly quickly upon return and the wound was healing well. I have a regular cat-only vet I take my cats to but in those cases of emergency, I am grateful this hospital is close by. Both times I was there, the cats were treated by female veterinarians and I felt the staff was professional.

I have been taking my animals there for years since they opened and always get the best treatment. Animals treated have include 4 retired greyhounds, 2 cats, 2 terriers and multiple foster animals as I volunteer with a rescue. My animals have had major surgeries and minor illnesses and always treated with care, compassion and honesty. They also open their doors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week always ready to serve. Thank you!

South Seattle Veterinary gave me open arm to except my puppy when he crying for help with his pain. They did everything they can saves my puppy when with previous veterinary did horrible job mishandling my puppy condition because lack of experience.I am not doctor , I know it’s wrong doing. Please take the time with our pets because it’s our family.

I highly recommend this place. My friend had a very sick cat. She had two options mainly. One was to put her 8 yr old cat down or do surgery. No way could she afford the surgery quoted at a couple vets office. One of those vets recommended south Seattle and we are beyond grateful. The surgery was literally half the cost of every where else. My friends cat is alive because of them. They did a wonderful job. Kitty is feeling so much better. Staff was amazing ! The Drs really care about not only your pet but you as well. I hope I never have to go to the vet for something major again but if I do i am definitely going to Seattle veterinary hospital.

Our 4-year-old tabby cat, Athena, was gagging and retching, unable to keep food down. I tried three veterinary ERs close to home and was turned away by all of them. So glad I found Seattle Veterinary Hospital. Athena was hospitalized for two days and is now doing much better at home. Dr. McCray and Dr. Brar are both incredibly busy, but still kind and caring. I spoke to CIndy on the phone and she was wonderful with helping to get us in. No one minded my constant calls to check up on the kid, and Dr. Brar very patiently explained her x-rays. Thank you! Athena is pretty much back to normal now.
Christine Gillis
The doctor was so caring and gentle. He legitimately wanted to find a solution and not just run up a big bill.
Jennifer Emery
They were very rough handed with the animals
My own dog was old and extremely sick with bad back legs and they put a lead on him instead of using his harness and pulled him where they wanted him to go choking him, Pushed him to back up and he fell because of his back legs and she didn’t even care. Some of the staff were cold and showed no compassion for the animals like they hated their job or something.
One staff lady used her foot to push a puppy through the door to be examined. Front desk lady was very sweet! One of the drs seemed like he couldn’t be bothered when I visited my dog one night. Other places may be farther to drive and more expensive but if you love your pet it will be worth it to go some place else.
Wendy Stockholm
Excellent care everytime. Had to leave our dog overnight to be monitored and we were worried taking him back would be difficult but he can't wait to get in the door. The entire staff has been so welcoming, non-judgmental and every vet has been so helpful and patient with all our questions. We went here due to an after hour emergency but due to great care it will now be our regular clinic as well.

SSVH helped us yesterday when everyone else was too busy. The staff was kind, cheerful, and competent, and all my interactions with the doctors has been stellar. They go through the costs with you upfront so nothing is a surprise. I’m so grateful we got our fur baby treated in time to save her. Thank you SSVH!!

I brought my male cat in for PU surgery and the head doctor there did a fabulous job! It has been 3 years now and Bunny is so happy and well! I would go to this vet anytime any of my cats need surgery.

Our cat was not eating and was in extreme discomfort. We took her to Blue Pearl and got her x rayed and they didn’t find anything wrong as they only looked at her abdomen, based of the belief that she had swallowed some foreign object. The next day we came to South Seattle Vet and got her checked in. They did X-rays of her whole body and found a sewing needle stuck in her esophagus. Dr.Goraya spent extra time investing Kitty to make sure he knew what was wrong. They removed the foreign object and kitty was feeling better in under 24 hours. 100% would recommend for emergencies. It was not cheap, but very worth it to have our cat back to normal.

Dr. Goraya is a compassionate and outstanding DVM. He met the needs of my dog who was in extreme critical condition but he valiantly moved forward and plated/pinned her leg, saving her leg! She survived and is an extremely happy dog, dancing, leaping, rolling over- doing everything that she did as a puppy. I am extremely pleased that he was able to do this for Monkey and I will forever be grateful for him.
The staff her are extremely outstanding! The girls are friendly and helpful in every way! They make you feel comfortable the minute you walk in and they are beautiful inside and out!

Our regular veterinary office had closed and our dog needed dental care. We took him, a 9 year old rat terrier, to South Seattle Vet for the first time and found out his dental needs were extensive. After a couple of days of swelling and discomfort, he was back to his upbeat, happy self and is good as new! Our treatment at this vet was excellent - from the staff out front to the surgeon behind closed doors. We really appreciated the care given our dog as well as the consideration given to us. We plan to make them Archie's regular vet from now on.

They were marvelous when our dog developed septicemia from an unknown source. She would have died if she hadn't been hospitalized. Our dog, who suffers from separation anxiety was so ill that she didn't even look back at us as they slowly led her away to their hospital section. They took very good care of her. Not only are they open 24 hours, but there's always a veterinarian on duty, usually only one after 11 pm until the morning shift arrives. Our dog was so ill that she showed no interest in food, so one of the vets there, hand fed her until she was strong enough to go home. Great front desk staff as well. Everyone we met there was friendly and helpful.

I got fast service, takes walk-in patients, friendly vet/staff, coupons can be found in the local mail, and their prices for vaccines are very reasonable. I called them up at 11:30 today after getting a coupon in the mail for a free exam, and they said they take walk-ins. So I drove there, was greeted with friendly service, and almost zero waiting for a quick checkup. The vet (Ross) was very gentle when administering the vaccinations, and answered all my questions. The bill was by far the most reasonable I've ever gotten at a vet visit, and the coupon made it even more so. This business speaks for itself, and I'll be a repeat customer.

Both my cat and me were treated professionally and kindly. The doctor (Dr Brar, who was very personable ) took the time to explain to me many of the details regarding tooth care in older cats and we eventually brought my cat in for the cleaning and surgery. Even though they are not the closest veterinarian to my house; their hours and communication style have made them MY veterinary hospital. Thanks!
Mary Van Zante-Peiser
This Vet has wonderful front staff (Sam, especially) and the vets are kind. If you want regular Vet care, however, find another Vet. Wait time for yearly vaccine was over 3 hours. Their emergency services can take that long, but it's worth it.

The doctor was very nice and he is extremely qualified and intelligent. He did surgery of our dog in such a fine manner that I am highly impressed and at very reasonable prices.
I learned from people he is is very experienced surgeon but today we saw it.
Thanks once again to Doctor Goraya for his wonderful services. You are the best doctor in this region.

We have been coming to to this location for a decade, before the remodel. I’m thankful that they cared for my dog and saved him a couple times. But with that being said I can see the changes like others have mentioned about the “money hunger“ and quoting you the most expensive option first rather than giving all of them to you. Keeping them overnight seems a go to, but I’ve learned to just ask for what I feel my dog needs (the most necessary) like bloodwork and IV and medication and I’ll come back a few hours later and not letting them keep him overnight. We have 5 dogs, so this place is very convenient for emergencies. The front office staff is very accommodating. But they wanted to put one of our dogs down too early, he’s 11 larger dog and had become paralyzed (arthritis) and that was their only option, his blood work was great and he was eating and drinking great. We were lucky to find a alternative and now he’s walking again! Acupressure was our savior! Healing for People and Pets!!! She saved our pup and I recommend her to anyone!
I ask SSVC to go back to your compassionate ways I remember them and that kept my loyalty! Come back to those days and people will come flooding!

We had to take our kitty in to be euthanized since he was dying. The front desk staff were warm and understanding for our need to be there. We chose this place because it was open 24 hours and our regular vet was closed. The location is also close to our home. The doctor who came in was ok for his bedside manner. He understood why we were making the choice when I showed him the tumor on our cat that had ruptured. The staff tried to place an IV but were unsuccessful and so they had to take my cat back for an intra-cardiac injection for euthanasia. They brought him back to me but I had to ask for his blanket back as well. There was no offer for paw prints to be done. I had to do them myself when I got home. We did receive a very nice sympathy card about a week following which was very touching.

We've been coming here for many years. Almost as long as they've been opened. This is my first review. The only reason we go here is because they do walk ins. No appointment necessary. I'm giving them five stars only because of Dr. Dawson. She is the best they have. She's there Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, Sunday. If you want excellent service with compassion and understanding see her. We normally go here and we feel we get so so service and that it's more about the money than the care. Keep up the excellent care Dr. Dawson.

Dr. Brar and all the staff were fabulous. Prices were reasonable and service was caring.

Our black lab is prone to ear infections, and another vet immediately wanted to do surgery as a solution. South Seattle Vet took more time to consider ongoing treatment that would be less drastic. I appreciate that option. The office visits are supportive, and affordable, and the staff is very patient with pets, and their owners-- it makes for a positive experience.

Our pets tend to have issues on the weekends, so it is nice to have a clinic nearby that is open those days. Clean and friendly. Our last visit was a sad as we said goodby to our elderly kitty. We were able to be inside with her, not just having her taken from the car. That meant so much at that time.

I needed help immediately. I called 3 vet hospitals. 4 regular vets. And everyone was booked. Finally i got ahold of this animal hospital. They took me in immediately, they are affordable. My friend recommended me to them. And I could not be happier. I feel like i was treated well. And someone took care of my baby. I would absolutely recommend them. And i will be keeping them in mind if i ever need them again.

My cat went in last week for a pre-exam for a dental cleaning. I was very impressed with the staff and how they treated my cat and me. He had a dental cleaning today and is doing well. The price was way better than my current vet and I didn't have to wait for 2 months to have his teeth cleaned. I think I have just found my cat's new Vet.

South Seattle Veterinary Hospital saved my dog's life, and saved my family a lot of money. Our dog, Lady, had many bladder stones removed by another veterinarian the previous week. The incision and stitching came loose, and she started pouring urine into her abdomen. We rushed her to another emergency vet, who quoted an amount so high that we decided to put Lady to sleep. A Vet Tech pulled us aside, and referred us to South Seattle Veterinary Hospital. We ended up deciding to take the chance at getting her there in time. When we arrived, the Vet (forgive me, I forgot his name, but he was outstanding!) prioritized her, quickly diagnosed the issue and solution, and got her into surgery. She survived, and is healthy today. We paid 1/4 the price that was quoted from the other vet. It is because of SSVH's fairness in pricing, and veterinary skill, that our pup is alive today. I'd recommend SSVH to anyone, even if it is farther away than other clinics close to you.

We were seen quickly and my dogs health was dead L t with professionaly . Great service

The most affordable vet ever. It’s open 24/7 everyday and the technicians are supper helpful and accommodating every time. I’ve had very successful and thorough visits here but also rare visits that felt did feel rushed and uncared for(money hungry as the other reviews say). Although that’s unfortunate, this vet has never failed to help my dogs. I’ve been going here for almost 10 years now and it really depends on the time of day, how busy it is, and quite honestly, which vet you get. Not the best thing but that’s just how it is.

When my dog developed a fever, they performed a wonderful job of treating it. We really appreciate it.

They offer first-rate surgical care for pets. I will unquestionably advocate for everyone.

My cat, Blue Boy, has a lump on his front leg, at the wrist. I brought him here and had some tests done, but I did not understand what the results meant. The vet seeing him also could not give me a simple/clear diagnosis. I went away, took him to a couple of other vets, and they also could not give me a real diagnosis. Two of them wanted to do x-rays to pin things down, but one was very expensive and I could not afford them. But South Seattle had also suggested x-rays and I had said no, having been given no reason why that would be useful. Since the lump was larger now, I decided t come back and let you do the x-rays. I think the Doctor who saw Blue Boy this time was Dr Goraya (?). He took x-rays,, showed them to me, answered my questions and explained his diagnosis. I am so Grateful that he talked straight to me. He explained what my options were and what would happen if I did nothing. His diagnosis was bone cancer and his solution was amputation. I could not picture Blue Boy having a happy cat life with that leg missing; he uses it too much every day. Still I asked what the surgery would cost and, yep, it would be way out of my budget range. In thinking about it I have decided to let the cat enjoy life while he still can, and put him to sleep when he becomes miserable. Again, I am greatful the Doctor gave me enough information to make a decision and stop worrying about what to do. Even if this is not what I had hoped for, Blue Boy and I are in a peaceful place.. Thank You.

My fiance and I were in a bind as we had a sick, dying cat on a Saturday night when no other place was open. We rushed over to the South Seattle Veterinary Hospital and had to put our beloved kitty down, as she was going fast and unlikely to make it to the next day.
The staff were very accommodating, even though this was our first visit there, and got us through all the paperwork quickly so we could help our kitty cat pass on. Weeks later, we got a card in the mail that was not only signed, but had a heartfelt hand written message from what must have been everyone at the hospital. It was the most touching thing a vet had ever done for us.

I took my beloved Newfie Gus here immediately after he suffered a leg fracture. We were promptly seen and Gus got the necessary medications. Dr. Goroya saw us and explained things well. He recommended surgery and after consulting with a friend I decided to take Gus to an orthopedic surgeon to do the repair given how extensive the fracture was. It ultimately took an extra day to be seen by the specialist and another day to wait for surgery, Dr. Goroya could've taken care of it within 24 hours. Dr. Goroya did email to follow up to see how Gus was doing, showing his level of concern for his patients
In short:
Pros: speedy service, reasonable fees, felt our doctor was invested
Cons: X-ray price felt a little... arbitrary. Changing the price to 89.xx or 102.95 or whatever would help solve the issue that others have referenced. Also, my dog means the world to me, and while I understand that cost must be discussed it should be downplayed and discussed last, with the well-being of the animal being the focus of discussion.

Our dog was running around outside and somehow broke his nail almost all the way off. We live in Bonney Lake and tried five other local emergency vets and they all had a 4+ hour wait. South Seattle got us in after maybe 20 mins and had the procedure done and our dog out the door within a couple hours. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Thank you so much!

My dog was rapidly declining from a sudden illness, and South Seattle Vet saw her within an hour of my call, did a full work up, with xrays and took care of her overnight. I was able to call at any hour to check on her, and she was very well cared for. I was expecting a very large bill from emergency visits with other vetrinary hospitals in the past ,and was totally surprised at how reasonable the bill was. I would reccomend this veterinary hospital for any pet emergency.
