I cannot speak highly enough of this place and staff. We brought our sweet boy in because he was having some issues. They admitted him right away. He stayed there for 2 nights and 3 days. The staff was amazing and attentive. Hank, our dog, was our world and you could tell that they knew this. They allowed us to visit and sit with him. While visiting any nurse or staff member would talk with us and ease our anxiety. They even gave us a few good laughs. The neurologist made sure we understood exactly what our dogs diagnosis could be. She answered any and every question we had. She was compassionate and spoke with kindness.
Unfortunately our sweet boy was too far gone and we had to make the hardest decision we have had to make and let him go. This process was extremely hard, but the staff again, was so compassionate. They allowed us to lay with him for as long as we wanted. They brought him in snow because he loved the snow. They brought him in food so we could feed him. One of his nurses brought in a little heart to stick to his bandage. It was these little things that went a long way.
My husband and I cannot thank this place enough. The outcome was so hard but they truly made it feel like our dog was their dog as well and that was all we could ask for. I know his last few days he was loved on. So thank you NVS staff for being who you are we appreciate you all so much.

My cat Sophie has been an oncology patient at Nashville Veterinary Specialists for a year and a half. Dr. Vancil, the surgeons, and the rest of the team have taken great care of her and considering her condition, she is doing great. She also saw Dr. Baker during an unrelated emergency, who promptly diagnosed her condition and saved her life that day. All of the staff that I’ve interacted with have treated us with kindness and genuine concern. I’m so grateful to live so close to a place that provides such excellent care to animals.

It’s always a stressful situation when you have to take your babies to the ER Vet. The staff was kind and thorough with all the details. My pup had to stay overnight. When I picked him up the next afternoon, he had made a few new friends. I loved seeing how much the staff loved on him. 🥰 I highly recommend! …

I brought my 4 yr mini schnauzer in for a first time critical seizure she was having. They immediately started working on her. She was near death but they brought her out of it after staying for 48hrs in ICU. They communicated clearly and kept me informed through the entire process. My Nina is now home, alive, healthy, and happy. The staff was very caring and there for me through the entire time of crisis and stress which I’m very grateful for. I highly recommend going here for an emergency-it’s top notch!!

I had a poor experience at another vet and was recommended to come here to the Dermatology department. I live an hour away but had high expectations so I made the trip. I sure am glad I did! My cat had an ear infection that had been going on for over a year. In my first visit they told me he was very good and his ear looked treatable. Within a few days after the visit my cats ear is clear! Dr. Ackermann was so helpful and nice ! I cannot put into words how pleased I was coming here. Highly recommend!

I bought a house last year and it came with a cat. Both my husband and I work from home and she has become a huge part of our family. I cannot thank the staff enough for helping my cat once my primary vet found a mass in my cat’s colon. We are still only beginning to understand what is going on with our cat, but Dr. Armstrong has been an amazing doctor. He was great with Lyla and explained things clearly as well as helped me advocate for my cat to insurance.

I am so grateful to the doctors and staff for saving my cat's (Philippe) life. He was experiencing a severe intestinal blockage and had to have emergency surgery. All of the doctors and staff were so kind, caring, and kept me up to date on everything going on with him. Thank you for taking such great care of my baby so he could return home to me.

Thank you to all the staff here. For a frantic fur mom even while understaffed the techs were very nice as well as the doctor. They showed concern and was excellent with my little guy. Myself and bosley are very grateful that places like this is open 24 hours. I most definitely will recommend to anyone who needs emergency care for their fur baby’s.

Our experience with NVS on Sidco dr is great. Our boy Queso git his front left leg amputated here and Dr. Trey Calfee is our surgeon. We really appreciate his calm and kind manner and his willingness to answer all the questions that we had. The post-ops care was also great. We can reach out to the surgery team anytime when there is post-ops care questions arise. And they are very responsive. We do highly recommended Dr. Calfee at NVS if your pet needs a surgery.

This hospital and staff are 1st class. Very informative and calming while you are beyond nervous. Check in went well and despite a busy room they were able to pick my dog up curbside and head immediately into check ups. I felt amazing about my experience. Our Dog is getting much better!

Our dog picked up our baby kitten and cracked some of her ribs. We thought she was beyond help and rushed her to this emergency vet. They were slammed but they made sure our little baby was ok. They followed up over the next 2 days and always had our kitten’s (Beans is her name) best interest at heart. I hope I won’t need an emergency vet ever again but I will always trust NVS and their staff after this experience.

I was visiting from out of town over Thanksgiving. The hospital was very busy, but the staff was so informative and kind on the phone to get me registered and in the queue. They kept me posted as time progressed, and called to explain why the wait time was longer than normal. Once we arrived- the staff was so kind and Dr Miller was very informative and took time to answer all my questions. They treated my dog in a timely manner and were very compassionate. Everyone I talked to, in person or on the phone, was kind and empathetic to the situation and just so helpful. They made a stressful time a lot easier for me. Emergency medicine can often feel rushed and like your dog is just a number, but not here. Highly recommend should you ever need them.

The first impression is professional, helpful staff who truly love our pets. The wonderful Dr Armstrong was informative and honest while guiding us through the hard decisions of surgery on our sweet Bailey. They also honor the Military, we will go no where else.

They were so amazing about taking care of our Layla and explaining what is going on with her. As well as how we should approach the situation.
They are great place. I urge you to give them a try. This is a little girl

My dear Bella was let out of gate by people working on my house. I found her hrs later, she had been hit by a car I was told. They were so great and calm and understanding. My Bella is 16, she was my moms, I want to hold on to her as long as I can

I was impressed with this facility. We were seen at our appointment time. The tech, Alexa and Dr. Armstrong that we saw were great with our pet. I felt that the assessment of my pet’s overall health was considered and the best solution recommended. The doctor truly cared about my pet and not just what would be financially beneficial to the facility. I will definitely use them again if necessary.

Brought my cat here for a UTI on Christmas Eve. I realized he had one late at night and waited a few hours (from the comfort of my home!) to get in since he was stable and otherwise healthy, and there were other pets ahead of us in queue. When we got there at 4am on Christmas day, the staff was very kind, attentive and supportive. After his exam, the vet came in and thoroughly went over his treatment options with me. My cat got the best care and the bill was surprisingly affordable. I would not hesitate to bring my pets back here in the future if needed.

Our dog was seen by our local vet twice for respiratory illness. That vet did not have the equipment or supplies to adequately treat his illness beyond prescribing oral antibiotics.
When his condition worsened, we drove 120 miles to NVS. We called in advance and arrived at 8:30 pm. The staff quickly admitted him and began an evaluation. He was stabilized but we had to wait for other emergencies before speaking to the doctor. That was expected.
The vet on duty was knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. She started him on oxygen and IV antibiotics. We left and drove home about 10:30 pm. From prior experiences elsewhere, I was expecting a much longer wait time.
Picked him up 2 days later, and he finished his recovery at home with Rx meds. Almost back to his same self a day later.
NVS did a great job. Be aware the service is very $$$, but that is normal for emergency vet care. I would highly recommend them if you have an after hours or severe pet illness or injury.
Liz
Absolutely wonderful! I can’t say enough great things about NVS! My amazing experience started the moment I called to make the appointment. The person on the phone was so courteous, understanding, and knowledgeable. Upon arrival, reception was terrific and the waiting area was beautiful, spotless, and clean. When the nurse brought us back to the exam room my dog actually ran towards her! First time he ever wanted to be at the vet!!
The vet explained everything and took the time to answer all of my questions. They truly cared! 5 paws!

I had such an incredible experience at Nashville Veterinary Specialists. I was greeted right away and the environment was calm and very tidy. My dog, Oliver, saw Dr. Rodriguez (cardiologist) and she treated him like her own. She was very thorough and explicit when helping me to understand Oliver’s heart disease. She answered any question I had and we discussed and plan of action and I feel confident with the plan. If you’re needed a specialist, this is the place to go.

Nashville Veternarian Specialists diagnosed my dog with a life threatening disease (Addison’s) and saved her life in the process. While other veternarian offices were ready to give up on her and were unable to pinpoint her diagnoses; They worked dillegently to ensure my dog was properly cared for and did not stop until they were positive that their diagnoses was concrete. She was hospitalized 3 times within the same week due to the unknown circumstances and symptoms that Addison’s Disease can exhibit. Never once did they turn me away or give up on her, for that I am forever grateful. NVS has continued to work with me and create a specific treatment plan just for her over the past 6 months. The doctors and staff have always been kind, positive and extremely informative of your pets condition/situation. Any question or concern was listened to and reciprocated with an answer or a solution. I will never be able to thank the staff at NVS enough for saving my dog and giving back her quality of life.

6 weeks ago today our frenchie lost total use of his back legs due to a herniated disc from ivdd. Dr. House was amazing and honest. Luckily he still has sensation left in his paws ans she gave us a very good outcome perspective, but also the warnings of there is never a guarantee. Our boy is completely healthy and full of energy so the back was his only problem. We couldn't just give up on him and not try to help him. I am so glad we were sent here and that they were able to help us get Moose back in the right direction on returning to a normal life.

Our senior dog had a medical emergency while we were out of town, and the Nashville Vet Specialists were so kind and helpful and made sure our boy was taken care of while he was hospitalized. We had a really bad experience with a vet hospital in the past with our boy that left him disabled, so we were nervous to leave him with strangers in a different city. However when we got there they instantly got him the help he needed and made us feel so comforted. They communicated with us every step of the way and showed our boy and us lots of compassion! Thank you to Dr. Baker in particular for being so kind and helpful in our time of need. He is exactly the kind of person you want to see when you have an emergency: calm, sweet, and reassuring. Thank you Nashville Vet Specialists!

Our elderly dog was inadvertently poisoned, became very dehydrated and sick, and needed more critical care than our local vet could provide. So we were referred to Nashville Veterinary Services. Quite easy to find the location and we had the option to wait more comfortably in our vehicle when we first arrived, before they admitted our dog for treatment. There they provided excellent care to our sweet old dog and called us with daily updates (once from the staff with general health&wellness information and once from the attending veterinarian with the plan of care), answering all our questions in the process. Overall, we had a great outcome, bringing our dog back home after a few days/nights of treatment, and would highly recommend their services and excellent care.
Anne Marshall
Always promptly answered the phone, very friendly in person, and I didn’t feel pushed to run unneeded tests just to shell out $$$. When the tech/nurse brought my sweet kitty back out he said “I love him, you’re lucky you’re getting him back.” I could tell he was well taken care of and loved.
While waiting, I even witnessed an emergency where a little pup was rushed in by his owner but he didn’t make it. The front desk was calm and jumped into action while the nurses immediately came to get the little baby. They broke the sad news sensitively and even walked the owner to the car after taking him back to say goodbye.
Definitely will be going back (hope I don’t have to but stuff happens—life with pets).

I highly recommend this veterinary hospital! I live in a small town and my local vet didn't feel comfortable doing the procedure my cat needed. They gave me a list of referrals and I chose here, I'm very glad I did! The staff are very friendly and caring and took my baby back shortly after we arrived. The Dr. met with us shortly after to discuss what he needed done and give us an estimate on costs. They talked us through everything and were very thorough with their findings. I was able to go back and tell him bye and give him hugs & kisses before we left. He was resting comfortably in his kennel and was being well looked after. The clinic is very clean, neat and organized. He had to stay two nights and they called and kept me updated on everything and how he was doing. I am very happy and thankful they were able to help my kitty and get him well. I would gladly choose them again for any of my emergency pet care needs. Well worth the $ and the 2 1/2 hour drive. Thank you so very much, from all of us, especially Tyrion! Thank you for taking such amazing care of him. 💕🐈💕

If you have a pet with special medical needs this is your place. Our King Charles Cavalier, Autumn Rose. Has a stage B1 heart murmur. Our regular vet had just retired and we saw two different vets both very nice that diagnosed her heart murmur, and one when even put her on three different heart medications. We still had a hard time understanding that our active and playful puppy needed all that medication. We were referred to Nashville Veterinary Specialist and cardiologist Dr. Rodriguez. She ran test echocardiogram and gradually got Autumn Rose off all her medications and now a year and a half later she is stable and needs no medication. Dr Rodriguez and her staff, especially Brooke are very kind and patient and treated our Autumn Rose such kindness. We are so grateful that we found Dr Rodriguez.

I have a senior dog and this is my 2nd visit here with him. The entire staff is so kind and helpful. They seem like they really love your animal as much as you do. They made sure I was updated on everything my fur baby was going through during his stay. I felt very comfortable having him there with them. Highly recommend!

I had my first dog emergency this week. My small dog gave birth to a litter of pups, but seemed to be fine until the next day. Turns out she had a dead puppy inside of her that she could not push out. After her becoming lethargic, I was alarmed, so, the first thing yesterday morning, I took her to the emergency clinic. Long story short, the vet and staff saved my dog and we are back at home with a round of antibiotics. She is tired, but went straight to her pups when we returned home. Also, the dead puppy was safely removed. It was a traumatic experience, but the staff made all the difference to reassure me and save my dog. Well done!

From admission through discharge, Mitzi Gish had excellent care. Docs and team were excellent at communicating with family and comforting our girl. As a human doc, I felt like all the care options we were offered were spot on, timely, and evidence-based. Thank y'all from the bottom of our hearts for saving our sweet girl's life. ❤️

Great service and care for my Dog. She had a bad injury to her leg. The staff of friendly and very helpful. They showed genuine care and concern for my dog. That meant everything. The only complaint is that have is the cash refund policy was not completely explained. I paid according to the estimated price I was given. The employee advised that I would get a refund back in cash after service was rendered. If the cost was less than advised initially. This did not occur. I was told that a check would be issued when I picked my dog up.

This vet’s office cares deeply for their patients and their owners. We were extremely worried about our cat Harrison, but had just paid rent and don’t have a large safety net yet. We called and were greeted warmly by Milli, who video called us and examined our cat thoroughly, eventually assuaging our tears and making us feel so much better about our boy. I would recommend this office to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care that provides an excellent service to both pets and their people.
Bethany Barnhart
We had to utilize their emergency services when our senior dog experienced his first seizure late at night. The care from the veterinarian and intake tech who called us were thorough; however, the whole intake process is not ideal. Having to pass your animal off outside while not being able to give information is stressful for both the animal and pet owner- our dog started yelping as the tech took him, and I tried to relay info in passing. The veterinarian gave us a few options, and we ultimately decided to take him home and follow-up with our regular vet once she determined he was stable enough to do so. As promised, all of the test results and info was relayed to our regular vet in a timely fashion, which was very much appreciated.
Anyone who uses Nashville Veterinary Specialists for emergency care, just be prepared to stay outside while your pet goes in and to communicate with them over the phone.
Debra Self
I cannot express how wonderful Dr Sessions and the entire staff are. Very caring and attentive to my dogs needs. They certainly put you at ease when going through a pet illness. They listen to you and most of all it’s great to have a vet call daily instead of a vet tech. I highly recommend this facility!
Cindy
Exceptional facility with exceptional vets. Several of my pets have been fortunate enough to be under the care of specialists at Nashville Veterinary Specialists. It is comforting to know they were receiving the best care possible during such a critical time. Everyone is friendly, professional and most importantly compassionate.
Derek
Great care and amazingly nice and qualified staff but plan to be there a while. I waited well over an hour to pay the bill and my pet to be released to me. After waiting and watching other pets being released one after another I had to ask the front desk the status of my pets release. They released my pet almost immediately after I had asked indicating that someone had forgotten or communication to the front desk was not a concern. Frustrating after a long emotional day to say the least. But let me be clear…the care was top notch which is what’s important in the long run.
Robyn Williams
I’m very satisfied with the surgery and quality of care by the surgeon, but once you pay the bill, forget it. Two days after the procedure, my pup had some bleeding around his sutures. I followed written instructions they’d given on discharge to take a photo and send to the email address provided. Two hours later - nothing. So I called. After being on hold for 20 minutes I was told none of the techs could answer my question but I could leave a voicemail and someone would get back to me. That was 24 hours ago. Bottom line - don’t expect any post-op care.

Dr. Wang is an excellent internal medicine vet. She is astute and very much to the point. In the past, she was the one that was able to look at various labs and reports from general vets and put together a diagnosis and treatment plan that enabled my dog to become healthy again. In addition, the staff there - all of them- from the receptionist to the vet techs are excellent. I highly recommend NVS.
Janet Smith
Our aging dog stopped eating and we took her to the emergency for ultrasound after suspicious xray. Ultrasound confirmed abdominal mass. The news we received was not what anyone wants to hear. Dr Long kindly explained the options for tests but did not push for biopsy when it would not change the treatment plan. They are very professional but still very caring. The doctors and nurses, especially Audra, were patient with our many many questions as our pup is our baby and means the world to us. We followed up with the internal medicine specialist Dr Wang and she was extremely thorough with our girl. She explained our options and gave us lots of advice on how to give her best quality of life. Thankfully the meds are helping and she is feeling a little better. Thank you all for helping us.

They took care of my dog at a reasonable price on a Sunday. They also gave me a good veterans discount. I called them in the morning (10:30) did the online check in and they called me asking about the condition of my dog. Because it was not life threatening condition they called me when my appointment was two hours out. It did take a while to repair a 4” opening on his torso.

My cat had an urinary blockage over the weekend and i was traveling so i had to use emergency vet. I was apprehensive at first going to a new vet we werent familiar with. That all changed when I was greeted and treated with prompt, competent and compassionate care from the entire staff at NVS. They were incredible and saved my pet all the while being so very kind to me and keeping me updated every step of the way. We are eternally grateful and want to say a larger than life thank you to the entire staff. Thank you for everything you do and thank you for loving animals in the way you all do!
Rebecca Nickerson
I brought my dog baby in on a Sunday for emergency spine surgery on his neck. They took great care of him and were kind. I loved the ER phone check in process. He is doing great postoperative. I'd drive the hour for an pet emergency again for sure.
Daria Abrahams
These are very caring, competent people, from front desk to Dr's., for my dog and us humans as well. Compassionate, patient, professional, thorough, timely; great communication and listening skills- i am never rushed, always heard and things are always explained, but I am never pushed into something.
Truly, I don't trust my dog to anyone else!!
Lisa Ehrenreich
The entire staff were wonderful and very thorough. The facility is beautiful. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is the price. I Googled and the cost of surgery was almost $1,500 more than most other vets in the area. Otherwise, 5 stars

Everyone was friendly and professional. I felt like they really care. All my questions were answered and my kitten is feeling much better.
Laura Cook
NVS took good care of my fearful pup. They had me muzzle him for safety and allowed me to hold him during the exam to keep him calm. They were able to get the x-rays they needed. It did take a long time - we signed in online at 9 am, were told they were ready for us to come to the facility at 10:45 am, waited in car until about 12:15 pm, and were on our way home by 3 pm. To be fair, my dog was stable and I know that they need to tend to the more critical cases first and are probably understaffed due to COVID. The most important thing was that they treated my scared, misbehaving dog nicely and didn't get frustrated with him.
Brooke Sumner
We recently had to visit Nashville veterinary specialists emergency room. They took great care of my dog. Unfortunately, this was not our first visit with NVS but we have received great care during every visit we have had (both at the Nashville &Clarksville offices). It is apparent that everyone that works at NVS, from the front desk personnel to the techs to the doctors, really cares about the pets they are taking care of. They are kind and compassionate. Thank you for the care you provided for my sweet boy!!
Kim Morrison
We absolutely love and trust NVS! We first visited with one of our cats that had seizures to see a specialist and they were phenomenal with him. They really made sure we understood what was going on and treated our boy well. Most recently we had to use the emergency side of NVS for another of our cats who got mysteriously sick. They notified us of everything every step of the way from how they were treating him, to payments, and even updating us on cute things he was doing while in their care. Their service is beyond measure and I'm so glad that they have been an option when caring for our pets!

Even though this happened in January i felt the need to write this review. January 7th my sweet bot dexter passed at home i called them obviously distraught and told me to bring him in (i wanted him cremated). As soon we were pulling in someone was outside waiting they didnt even make me wait a second. It was one of the worst days of my life but they were so patient and understanding. This is the second time ive come here for a bad situation but they have always been so patient and understanding. And i I know they handled my boy with the care he deserved.

Rushed my 20 day old kitten from Clarksville down to the Nashville branch. Staff immediately went to work and were so caring and compassionate. Gave quick updates, kept her under supervision and got her back to health. Overall great experience.
Alicia Hayes
I took a friends daughter and her puppy in late in the evening. We had no idea what was going on with her as it had started so abruptly after a short walk. To say that they were kind and attentive is an understatement! BeeJay was treated so kindly and so were Bella and I. This is Bella’s first pet as a young 16 year old so her anxiety level was through the roof but the calm and loving demeanor they showed BeeJay was enough to ease any anxiety that Bella had. That in itself is priceless and the fact that the cost was much less than we anticipated and the free recheck if needed is available, is enough to make us want to make the drive to keep coming there for all our pets and their needs! ❤️
Kelli Manuel
I've never felt so taken care of at a vet! The staff are so kind, and the vet took the time to explain things to me in detail. These people are busy saving animals, and still made time to make sure I knew what I needed to and felt taken care of. 10/10
Rupa DeLoach
The care and compassion with which NVS dealt with our feline family member was beyond white glove. We went in thinking the worst and assumed we would be spending $3000 to put her down eventually. Their stellar treatment and compassionate but honest assessments and opinions on treatment outcomes giving us time to decide was wonderful. And getting our litte kitten back healthier than we could have hoped for at 66% of the quoted cost was beyond anything I could have hoped.
Ray Bess
The place to take your pet in an emergency. Unfortunately I've had two experiences with NVS because of emergencies with two different pets. Both times, i believe my pet received the best possible care during the worst possible time in their lives. The staff was fantastic. Even on weekends and late at night, they were very considerate and understanding with all the customers. If I didn't live on the far side of the county I would likkkely use them for our normal vet services.
venita harris
Very professional , kind and caring. Knowledge of the issues your pet is having and they give you detailed information on the care of your pet. We have had to see the Neurologist and Gastrointestinal Doctors over the years and we are very Thankful for them both and Thankful a Hospital with Great Doctors is only an hour from me.
Christopher Snyder
The staff and doctors are fantastic. They have compassion and genuine care for the health of your pet. I value the service and continued care that NVS brings to my animals and the pet community of Nashville.
Cris Piper
NVS provides incredible care. I’ve been so impressed with the clinical staff every time I’ve taken my dog there. I would highly recommend them in both emergency & long term care situations. Dr. Sessions is amazing!

I've been using Nashville Vet Specialist since moving here in Sept 2019. They treated my dog, Miss Sarah, for an inflammatory disorder in her lungs and were able to ween her off of a steroid that was damaging her liver to another less invasive steroid. It was a lifesaver and made my dogs life so much more comfortable. However, the true heart of this facility came out when my dog suddenly got an intestinal disorder and I worked with the staff to make some very hard decision over the next few days. Ultimately I had to say goodbye to my little friend but they let me do so with dignity and compassion, especially while going through this pandemic. I'm forever grateful for the time that they gave me with my little pup and while I miss her tremendously, her legacy lives on through the excellent care that she received and that this facility gives to others. Thank you all :)

I couldn’t say more positive things about my experience at NVS. I brought my cat in for an emergent situation, and the Dr. Clark & the vet techs were so great. They were informative, provided updates on my cat, and worked with me on cost to make sure my budget was considered. My cat is on the mend and we are so grateful for all NVS!

We were referred to the Specialists/Oncology Dept and everyone on site was amazing. From the folks at the front desk, to the techs that took care of our dog, to the Oncologist/Dr himself: absolutely wonderful location/staff. 10/10 would recommend!
Wendy Douglas
Thorough, caring and informative. Always gave us the cost beforehand. Kept us up to date on the treatment plan and how our little Charlie was tolerating his stay there. He was kept comfortable and calm. The staff seemed caring and gentle having him.

Dr Celinas is awesome and explained everything, the injury, the procedure, implant, recovery, surgery and pricing options. She was straightforward and very sweet and loving. She gave it to me straight and I appreciate that so much. I will definitely bring my babies here from now on.
Ray Gardiner
Fantastic care, had a sick puppy, the staff, vets, and all technicians were outstanding. Very clear and precise on care and advise. I live in Maryland and was visiting, I would drive back for service at Clarksville. Outstanding performance and experience.!!!!
Lauren Rice
They have always been so wonderful to my dogs. I’ve had to use them for emergency services and also specialty. clean facility and friendly staff.
abdouli oosting
The only and best emergency vet in Nashville. Wish we had more locations towards Hendersonville/ Springfield area. Very caring and friendly staff. Prompt and organized. Nobody likes emergency visits but they sure make it alot better and less stressful situation.
Julie Tucker
Everyone was very kind it was just crazy expensive. Just the consultation that took 5 minutes with the doctor was $200. They quoted us $5000-$6000 for my dogs acl surgery. I reached out to me regular vet and they said they are over charging. I found blue pearl in Franklin to be more reasonably priced.
Mollie Gerber
This place was great. My cat had a stroke and they were able to diagnose her with a heart condition within a day of me taking her there. Everyone was very kind and professional. They were very helpful in figuring out what was wrong with my cat even though she passed away shortly after. The 24 hour aspect of it was great too since my emergency occurred at around 1am. Thank you for everything you guys do.

I cannot say enough good things about NVS. Our dog, Bailey was diagnosed with bladder cancer a few days before Christmas and my fiancé and I have been in shambles ever since. Bailey is our whole world and means so much to us, so to find out this kind of news was beyond devastating. At the time, NVS and Blue Pearl had a long wait list so we were forced to take Bailey to Chattanooga. We were doing that for about a month and a half and had the worst experience with that oncologist. Terrible bedside manner, never explained anything well enough for us to understand and every appointment left us in the waiting room for about 60-90 minutes before the oncologist would come in. Completely different experience with NVS - we knew right away as soon as Dr. Vancil walked in, that this was going to be a much better experience. Going into these kind of appointments makes me anxious and emotional just because we love Bailey so much and Dr. Vancil put us at ease. We were never told the actual size of the mass in her bladder and he said it was the size of a marble (I thought it was way bigger) and came up with a good game plan for our girl and her treatment. Dr. Vancil is a wonderful person and a pleasure to talk to. Much much better bedside manner. We felt encouraged leaving our appointment with him and hope we can get more years with Bailey. Thank you!

Everyone I came into contact with was knowledgeable, kind and compassionate. Dr. Trizl was very thorough, explained things in a way that I could understand and didn’t rush through our appointment, even though we were a work-in. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs internal medicine or emergency care for their pet.
Bri Leibeck
My dog at the cord attached to our iron.... see attached evidence. I took her to NVS and was so pleased with her care. The doctor and techs were all super friendly and helpful. So, so thankful! Photo of her after we got home looking like she did nothing wrong.
Chase Shellman
Called them late on a Friday evening while my puppy was experiencing an anxiety attached. The vet on the phone was extremely sweet and offered to do a video call. Even sent me videos after of symptoms to look out for. 10/10
Nelda Harrison
Dr Baker was very informative as well as sympathetic. He was easy to understand and made me feel comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Very kind people.

My dog was referred to NVS for emergency surgery for a “possible” foreign body. Quickly upon arrival at NVS, they reevaluated my dog, reviewed her x-rays from our primary vet once again and consulted with me on her symptoms. Dr. Sparks quickly discovered my dog has been misdiagnosed and, did not need surgery. She was very honest and asked that we send out my dogs x-rays to radiology just to be 100% sure. It was later confirmed there were no obstructions and my dog was experiencing back pain (early onset of IVDD). As much as I would have preferred an obstruction surgery over a diagnosis of this horrible disease, I’m am forever grateful to Dr. Sparks for a proper diagnosis and my dog not having to go through an unnecessary surgery. So happy we opted for a second opinion, my primary vet wanted to perform to surgery herself and then transfer my dog to NVS for overnight post op observation. Had I gone with my primary vets advice, my dog would be suffering that much more. Thank you Dr. Sparks and the medical team at NVS.
Debbie Miele
Dr. Wang and her staff were thorough, detailed, and took time to specify all the pros and cons of the procedures being undertaken and helped to develop a path forward. I don’t think that my dog could have
been in better hands. I highly recommend Dr. Wang and the entire staff at Nashville Veterinary Specialists.
Melissa Williams
This is the 2nd time I've had to take a pet to NVS. They have been very helpful and gotten then in as quickly as they were able to. It is nice to have a vet location to go to when things happen after hours. The fees are comparable to a regular vet's office. Thank you for being there for us and the community!
Kaylee Flores
Took my dog for a dog attack they were very quick and urgent. They kept me up to date with my dog who was hospitalized overall 10/10 would recommend my dog is now home healing and doing better than expected!
Randy Schewe
They were curtious, thorough, and caring. We brought a rescue in that started having seizures. They had multiple options for care at various price levels. With a little medicine everything was brought under control. So far , no more episodes.
Katie Boyer
Our Cecil just received care from Dr. Armstrong. Dr. Armstrong is transparent, open, and professional in his communication. He spent time answering questions and actively listened when we had questions. Despite the difficult decisions and conversations we had to have we are thankful for the care that we have received and will continue to use NVS.
Gretchen Lowe
While I didn’t get the outcome I had hoped for my dog, they delivered the news with compassion and honesty and helped me make the best decision for my sweetest, most loyal companion. I will forever be grateful for the tact and empathy.
P. Doherty
My 8 week old Penelope was on the verge of death from from a phenomenon they had referred to as "fading kitten syndrome". Dr. Baker and Dr. Long saved her life. I'm so grateful for NVS and staff.
Karen Sun
took a bit of a wait to get my cat in - she wasn't a big priority so I definitely understand - and when she got in, she was so taken care of and the doctors walked me through all my options for her and provided clear instructions on what she needed after, and she's doing well now!
Rachel D.
These folks are legit. My experience here was great. The surgeon didn’t push me to surgery (as surgeons sometimes do). Everyone was professional and awesome and I will be going back to this place for any future speciality appointments my dog Breonna may need.
Sarah Varney
They saved my Cahya!!!; and my Amber.. Amber is gone now because she was older and had back problems but because of Nashville Veterinary my Amber lived so much longer and she loved life so much! And my Cahya the team loved her like she belonged to them she had a seizure that night it was bad!! They kept her alive!! She is acting like nothing happened I could take her to the hospital there right now and she would be happy to see everyone;not scared!! Y'all really rock I'm proud of all y'all heros that work there!! Cahya loves you too!!
Keith Wisner
Super nice and caring staff. Fully explained everything that was going on and offered options. It was a long wait but there were 3 more urgent pups before mine. Just the way it works.
Sydney Boyd
They are truly the very best for any pet emergency. They’re quick, kind and very knowledgeable about every breed. We trust them for all of our emergency needs!
Annie Kennedy
NVS is always so kind. We were really struggling financially after a big move and my husbands medical bills and they were able to work with us to get our cat the help he needed
Dani Sartore
Dr Armstrong is very knowledgeable and we like how direct he is. Our appointment was late in more than 30 minutes due to an emergency. WE understand the emergency but the lack of communication was a let down.
Joann McCumber
I used Cardiology. As a long time breeder and required clearances call on the experts it is with great appreciation to know we have access to some of the best. Prompt, clear, not too expensive are a big plus. I received good news and bad news, both were handled professionally with good understanding and clear explanation. Thank you!
Second visit one year later and I have to say the staff is very professional and well organized. I appreciated being treated like the long time breeder I am....information was clear and never do I feel as though I am being talked down to. Having access to these professional for my group is paramount and comforting.
Thomas Stevens
This clinic is outstanding and impressive in every way. I was visiting with Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice and was lucky enough to tour the clinic and meet some of the veterinary team. They were kind, professional and compassionate. #impressive #petsarefamily
Jason Young
This place is actually open 24/7. When we arrived my dog was taken back to be seen by the veterinary doctor quickly. They came up with a plan of action quickly. They told us up front how much everything was going to cast and showed us the price brake down for each thing. If I could give more stars on my review I would.
Carolann Kinney
The most knowledgeable and compassionate vets, nurses and techs… I knew they were wanting the best for Jack without going to surgery. The communication daily was so needed for my piece of mind. Saved jacks life!
Julianne Buskey
Wish I could give a 6 star review. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. There is a wait from home queue that can be joined to allow your pet to be more comfortable at home. The cost was very reasonable in my opinion and the doctor was able to recommend prescriptions for my dog that were reasonably priced. I can tell how passionate the team is about animal care.
Ricky Shockley III
Is 6 stars not an option? It's not even possible for me to express my gratitude to Dr. Pearson and the team at NVS. From the first phone call until we checked our kitty out of the hospital, everyone was patient, kind, caring, responsive and just all-around incredible. Thanks to NVS our little kitten, Pippa, is at home and enjoying life today. May not have been the case otherwise.
Madeline Gardner
Dr. Clark is amazing, helped my baby and took great care of him. Was very compassionate, and it exemplifies through her work. Dr. Cook is fantastic, went above and beyond to help my dog and my family. Jessica, the receptionist, is excellent. She is compassionate and attentive to the patients and their owners waiting. Just a great overall team!
Nell George
We used these vets for our 9 yo lab with a liver mass. The mass was successfully removed and we had almost four more active, good years before Daisy had any issues. At almost 13, the mass reoccurred and once again these vets diagnosed quickly and accurately. They were helpful and honest, and I highly recommend them.
Matt FARR
NVS did an exceptional job with my pittie Cleo. She had swallowed a sock and it was lodged in her small intestine. They had to remove several inches of it. Now 5 weeks later Cleo is back to her old self. I highly recommend NVS if you have an emergency. I called on a Monday morning and within a couple hours they knew what to do and by that evening the sock was removed. Excellent staff. 5 ⭐️ s all the way around.
Madie Larsen
Great staff! It’s a hard decision when it comes to a beloved family pet, but it’s worth exploring your options. It may not be a cure, but it may give you a little more time to get things in order. For us, to see our boy feeling better in the midst of cancer, worth it! May his last days be better.
Rickey Combs
They are great and really care!
Taylor McSwain
There’s a reason they’re so highly regarded and recommended by local vets. And it’s because they’re the best of the best! My dog gets *pumped* to see her oncology care team coming. And if she’s thrilled to see the people who poke her with needles and inject her with chemo then they must be pretty freaking wonderful to her in. They saved her life and gave us so much more quality time with her.
Shannon Adsero
While it’s not fun to take your beloved pet to an oncologist, I must say my experience has made me feel a lot more at ease moving forward in my little guy’s treatment. You can tell the staff here really care about animals and we were treated with kindness and compassion. Dr. Cook is fantastic and informative as well as honest and I couldn’t be more relieved he’ll be handling our case moving forward. Worth the drive and the money for me! Highly recommend coming here for specialty services and wouldn’t hesitate seeking emergency care here either.
Juli Watson
We had to let our Girl LizzyB crossover. As torn up as we were, these were some of the most kindest people I have come across. We weren’t rushed saying goodbye. Dr. Connor and the Techs explained everything. They were so sweet to my Lizzy. They gave us her paw prints and her nose print. This happened this past Saturday and I am still grieving but the experience as a whole was positive and they are top notch. Highly recommend! Thank you for your kindness and professionalism in a sad time!
Betty Banegas
Thanks to all staff, Dr Travis, Dr Vancil for the care, compassion, and expertise in removing sarcoma on our 7yr old Dashund mix. This is our 3rd pet to require surgery/care and you guys are the BEST!! Thank You!!

When my dog was diagnosed with lymphoma my heart broke. But having NVS so accessible to me (from Alabama) gave me hope. Dr. Cook and the rest of the NVS staff have been fantastic. I’m happy that I can give Roarke the best treatment options while maintaining a good quality of life for him. He won’t be cured but even the past month was more than I’d have had without them.
Nancy Redding
My dog was diagnosed with bone cancer. It started with a tumor in his mouth. Our regular vet tried to remove it but wasn’t able to get it all so it grew back and much bigger. We were so scared we would lose our dog. 1st we saw the oncologist who gave us some options. He did a CT and spoke with the surgeon who believed he could do the procedure to remove it. During our consultation with Dr. Armstrong we were scared. He brought out a skull to show us what he would have to do. Remove some teeth and restructure his face a bit. He gave us all the “if’s” and I was worried my dog would look so different and may not recover. We couldn’t be happier with the results. My dog is still as cute as ever and you can barely notice a difference now. He is also recovered and seems much happier. He is giving me kisses again and has renewed life. I can’t thank Dr Armstrong enough. He was so great at answering all our questions and is a great surgeon. The care received from everyone was fantastic. I highly recommend NVS to anyone. My dog is 11 and a large breed, after speaking with all the doctors we felt confident in at least trying. NVS has a great team of specialists.

Everyone was very nice and helpful during our visit. Unfortunately we lost our cat Maddie that day. Everyone was very symptomatic and gave us as much time and respect needed to have our final day with her. They made us feel as comfortable as possible in a worst situation. Thank you for being sensitive to our loss and giving us some privacy. In a very difficult circumstance. Great staff.
Brittany Nichols
Staff was caring and efficient. Very thorough, discussed options with me, and gave me their best insight on next steps. Price was point for after hours needs on a weekend when all my other options were closed. Will definitely visit for any future (but hopefully not too soon future) pet emergency needs.
TheMerygol
This place saved My baby. I wanna thank all staffs for being kind and caring and sweet specially Dr Rossi house.
Princess Vampire Neko
Me and my husband had just lost our baby Bella! We called NVS they took us in right away even though we live in Madison! They said their condolences to us both, they explained about the choices of cremation and we told them that we wanted her ashes back! When arrived at NVS we were given some time alone with Bella which we were grateful for since I had worked all day and I had only two hours with her! When we got ready to pay for the cremation services the Tech had paid for the services herself which me and my husband are truly blessed for her to do such an honorable gesture for us, because I was going use all my tip money and savings to pay for my 4 legged daughter’s cremation because she was worth it to me and my husband! I want to thank each and everyone at NVS for taking us in us quickly and treating us like family, also thank you for the sodas! Don’t worry we will pay it forward and you will be seeing/hearing from us in the future!

NVS carries a HUGE load, considering the demand of the Greater Nashville area for ethical, expert emergency care. We have never had anything but great experiences with NVS. They were the only ones who would attempt a neuter/gastropexy with our Dane, which went great. They paid very close attention to his anesthesia and pain management, as Danes are susceptible to problems here. And just recently, we brought our senior Dane in with a 107 degree fever and pneumonia from this horrid respiratory virus that is spreading like wildfire in Nashville. They gave us options: antibiotics delivered in liquid form, hospitalization with IV meds and supervision, or putting him down. They left the decision to us, and we chose the antibiotics. Tig is doing really well three days later. Can't say enough about this place. They are always positive and helpful and friendly, which can't be easy due to the stress of this business model.
Joe Minella
Very friendly and professional. Front desk was super friendly. Nurses along with vet helpful and took the time to explain and answer questions. They handle more complicated medical issues and take the time to put owners at ease. I was very satisfied.
Josh Alamillo
After 3 visits to other vets and everyone being baffled by my pups symptoms, Nashville Veterinary Specialists was able to nail down what was happening and save his life. Thank y'all so much for what you do. Dr. House was fantastic 😊 …
Tammy Johnson
My precious baby girl Roxey was not feeling well. When I called NVS they answered and responded very quickly. Amy was amazing and gave me the info I needed to get checked in. Dr Lewis is very kind and compassionate even when it wasn’t the news I wanted to hear she really helped me deal with the reality of what is happening to my Roxey. She gave me options and explained everything in a way I could understand even in my grief. Thank you to the staff. I highly recommend NVS to anyone needing urgent care for your furbaby.
Derek Lilleskov
We have gone to NVS for both emergencies and consultations, they are incredible at what they do. They are truly experts in every aspect, with a large variety of doctors specializing in everything you could need. Really appreciate all they have done for us.

Editing my review to again express appreciation for the people at this facility. The same amazing care and compassion.
I don't know where to start. I had an emergency with my cat earlier this year. Found out it was terminal cancer. NVS helped me guide her down the Rainbow Bridge with dignity a few weeks later. Tonight the family dog needed to go down the same path. These people are indescribably compassionate and kind. Every person I had contact with cared and was filled with empathy. The DVM that administered the medication cried with us and I will never forget that. I can't say enough to truly convey how I feel about these folks. Truly wonderful.
Jodi Barnett
I rushed my dog to NVS from my vets office as they thought he was not responding to treatment to pancreatitis. They called ahead and NVS was waiting for us. Then made us sit in lobby for 45 min. After a 7 hour wait in the lobby to hear from doctors as to my dog's condition I found out that he was just in a holding area, as he was not critical enough to be attended. He came to them with a catheter but they had not started an IV to keep him hydrated.
After that time I saw a DR that was coming on the night shift. She did not have any news on him but said that she would be starting an IV and then he would go to an internalist in the morning.
It was mid day before I was allowed to talk to Dr and she gathered more info from me and it was agreed that he would be discharged the next morning at 1030.

We took our Bulldog to Nashville Veterinary Specialists for oncology, Our Bulldog was diagnosed with Lymphoma so we took him to see the oncologist. Dr.Vansill was great talking us through the whole chemotherapy sessions/process. The chemotherapy was non intrusive to our dog; no vomiting, no loss of hair, no diarrhea, no significant lethargy or loss of appetite. He just had his 2 month follow up and he's doing great.
Sheryl Reed
Our recent visit to Nashville Veterinary Specialists was very positive. Our GHD, Bella was not herself and obviously in pain. The doctor tried to get to the root cause of Bella's issue by doing Labs, which showed she was fighting some sort of infection. She didn't feel the problem was Bella's gut and all of her organs were functiong normal. Our doctor talked to us to try to get more information that might help her decide next steps to try to solve the mystery. We decided a urine test was needed and there was bacteria indicating a UTI. The whole time we were in the ER we were kept updated and informed of what it looked like the cost would be and our permission to do other tests was obtained. We can't say enough good things about the doctor. She was smart, thorough and was so nice to us as was everyone at the clinic. Thank you so much to everyone there. We are very grateful. The Reeds

I want to thank the entire team at this clinic for their efforts in the case of my Labrador retriever Mia, we were very well informed, we were very well treated, my dog received very good medical care. Unfortunately he passed away due to pancreatic cancer but I know with all my heart that everyone made a great effort to stabilize my dog, I appreciate it very much. I always read the comments of all the sites where I go especially if it is about health so I want to contribute and at the same time thank this site for all its efforts.

Our 2 year old male Great Pyrenees was hit by a car. We called around asking all sorts of questions. Nashville veterinary came to our aid. Thank you for taking care of Roman for us. Broken bones can heal, we're just glad that was all.

Dr Vancil gave us more quality months with our beloved dog Joy. Though we stopped the treatments in mid July, Joy is still with us, though her time is drawing shorter. Thank you for facilitating this special gift for our family. We have loved these extra months with Joy who benefited from a good quality of life even with the lymphoma. We believe she has enjoyed this time too. Joy passed on 12/26. We got 5 months with her and got another Christmas and then she let go and we knew to euthanize. Our extra time was priceless.
Amanda Jimmerson
I cannot say enough about how amazing the people that work here are. I had to bring my macaw in at 4:30am and they could not have been more kind and assuring. Top notch care.
Katie Wade
They took care of my sweet, elderly cat in the middle of the night. My husband had brought him due to me being home with our newborn, but they were compassionate, helpful, and reasonably priced. They did everything they could to try to save my boy, and although he was beyond saving the gave him comfort and dignity in his final moments. Thank you to your clinic and all of your staff.
Sharla Perkins
Quick and efficient check-in. Clean and spacious waiting room. Dr. Rodriguez and her staff were wonderful and explained my dogs' condition very thoroughly.
Jessica Biggs
My fur baby was attacked by a racoon he had a huge bite taken out between his neck and head , badly infected , they kept him from sunday til tuesday then detected a heart murmur and took great care of him ,granted this was very costly and we waited awhile but they had more emergant cases come in they were still kind and thorough
natalie porter
Took great care of my baby when he had an allergic reaction to a Seresto flea collar. Very kind and reasonably priced for emergency weekend vet services.
Sheryl Mustain
Great vet, Dr Conner, great staff, very responsive to the best car for our dog, outcome focused plan of action. Could not have had better emergency care after a s scary morning fall resulting in traumatic brain injury.
Mary Fathbruckner
First appointment with Oncology and the vet was very detailed in describing the mass and treatment options. Upon request, provided photos showing the lung mass. Appreciated his time and look forward to working with him in future.
Jae J.
Everyone was so nice and helpful. They took great care of my dog who needed emergency surgery. I felt like they listened to me and took his case seriously. They kept me updated daily on his progress and answered my long list of questions when he was discharged!! If it weren’t for the awesome staff at Nashville Veterinary Specialists my dog would likely not be with us any longer. I highly recommend them for their professionalism, life saving skills and genuine sense of caring.
Cherie Scott
I was more than pleased with the vet and the staff!! They took so much wonderful care of our little Jill!! They put her in a nice comfy bed which I personally thought was wonderful! And made sure she was not in any pain!!! They also solved her problems gave her 3 prescriptions, told us exactly what we needed to do in the next few days like take her to see her regular vet. They have so much compassion just as if she was their little dog! Thank yall so very much for everything ya'll did for our little Jill! God Bless You!
Hillary Smith
Dr. Sparks was wonderful and compassionate when we had to take our large dog in for an emergent visit. She was very thorough in explaining what was likely going on with him and offered two options for next steps (diagnostic v. treatment). Based on her explanations we went with the simple treatment and our dog has been great since. The cost was extremely reasonable and if the treatment didn’t work, a re-eval within 48hrs would’ve also been covered. All of the staff members we encountered were great!
Ashley Linville
Called with concerns about our bulldog puppy and the associate that spoke with me was friendly, warm, and calm and put me at ease. She advised us to bring Otis in quickly and sent me paperwork in advance that I could complete in the car. She walked me through what check-in process looked like prior to my arrival so I’d know just what to expect. Got our fur baby back and treated him quickly and we were home very quickly. Otis is home and doing great thanks to the team at NVS!
Tasha Frost
My goofy Great Dane pup swallowed a metal 4 inch birthday cake sparkler whole. While she had to stay the night, they were able to save my sweet girl and I feel like she got the best care. The drs and staff were Knowledgeable and down to earth. It was super duper expensive but I was expecting it I guess. Would highly recommend for you per emergencies
Skylar Tyler
Bentley is a well-traveled 16 year old Ragdoll who is very happy to have the professional care of the Mobivet Vets come to his home ensuring his good health. No more traumatic trips to the veterinary clinic, safe and cozy in his familiar surroundings. I am so glad Nashville has this exemplary service !
Gena Baldwin
Truly cared about the welfare of our dog. Newly diagnosed with Diabetes she was not doing well. We felt confident she was in great hands. Our baby is doing great and they are very good at making sure you understand everything and answer all your questions.
David Parker
We have seen the docs at Nashville Vet Specialists on both an emergency and now a routine basis. Simply put, they and their staff are the best! I am a Vietnam veteran and cannot express how much my dog means to me. They saved his life; and, I am most grateful. Their follow-up care on a routine basis is superior. I highly regard and recommend them.
Vickie Biggs
The doctors and the staff were caring, courteous, and knowledgeable. Dr. Oliver went was kind and when our situation was not a good outcome she gave me time stepped up to create a situation for me to be with my pet during his passing. This made our dog know I was there with him and he was loved. It was a bad situation but the most caring professional and respectful people at Nashville Veterinarian Specialists.
Renee Morgan
We went in with a very sick cat in critical care. The entire staff did everything possible to comfort us and update us on his condition and status. He ended up needing oxygen and hospitalization and although we were an hour away, we were updated regularly and felt that he was being well taken care of. He's at home with us now, thanks to their expertise!
Makayla Lowery
Oscar and I LOVE Dr. Ackermann and Mel with the dermatology department! They have been reliable, empathetic, and incredibly helpful. They really do have your pet's best interest in mind. The team has given lots of treatment options and opinions in a compassionate way, and they listen to concerns and answer and and all questions. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!
Melody Stephens
I have recently had great experiences with Nashville Vet Specialist. I was referred to them from my local veterinarian for more specialized care for my cat. They were able to see him right away. Found an issue with his heart after some testing. Even had a phone call checking up with us on his care within a week. Very Blessed to work with such knowledgeable and caring folks.
Gerry Senechal
Everyone I dealt with was kind, compassionate, and professional - and they took great care of my puppy! My vet sent me to them in an emergency - so glad to know about them and we'll definitely be back if there's another emergency! Like everything else, great people make all the difference.
Lesley Conde Trinley
This emergency vet clinic is outstanding. I had an issue with my black lab mix great Dane last year and they were fabulous just this past weekend I had another problem with my miniature Italian greyhound and I like the way that I filled out everything they sent me online and took pictures and they called me to advise yes I needed to bring him in their transition into not having people in the clinic due to Covid is a seamless process completely outstanding the vet care all the assistance and the girls that take your money! I wish they had a regular vet on staff for non urgent care, I would go there in a heartbeat 💗💗
Carlee Kalyani Cohen Barr
Everyone I encountered in the office was so caring and kind, from the first person I spoke with when I called, to the Doctor when she called me with updates. We were concerned when our dog ingested an object. They did the least invasive option first and thankfully in our case that worked. When I went in to pick him up he seemed so comfortable (he tends towards nervous). I very much appreciate the care and honesty and am grateful our pup is doing well! Thank you to the entire staff!
Darcy Gassel
The nurses and vets at this location were phenomenal. We had a dog in a very difficult health situation, and we really felt he was taken care of the best that he could have been. Dr. Nelson specifically went above and beyond in the treatment of our dog, answering questions, providing recommendations and having patience with us.
Lindsey Flatt
My little guy was so well taken care of. Dr. Trzil made me feel so comfortable and confident that she was doing everything she could to help him feel better. We are so thankful for the care and compassion we received and our puppy is now eating and drinking again. Thank you!!
Hannah Tutt
Our puppy got spayed at a different vet, and upon discharging her back to us we were instructed to remove her gauze prior to bedtime from her IV site. We were not expecting to find an IV catheter still in our pup’s leg, and reasonably so, we panicked. Our regular vet was long since closed, we had zero confidence we could handle it ourselves, and we’re just anxious first time dog parents. One quick call to this emergency vet and they had us feeling 100% taken care of. Not only did they immediately come out to us upon our arrival to remove the catheter, they were also two of the most LOVELY women I’ve ever experienced!! They were quick, efficient, and as friendly as can be. So grateful we went here.

My Frenchton puppy had an allergic reaction to yellow jackets yesterday & I just want to say that these people did such a great job. Our sweet girl went out for a potty break & came back with a face swollen up 3x her normal size. We were absolutely panicked. I placed a phone call to make sure they would be able to take her as my husband was driving her to the location. The girl I spoke with on the phone was so good at what she does. She was calm & sweet while I was in total frantic mode. Her demeanor helped me through that soo much. My husband said once he arrived they came & immediately got our baby for treatment. He had to wait out in the car, (completely understandable given the pandemic). Having your fur baby be in a situation like that & not be in the room with them is very hard. However he said the vet techs came out multiple times to give him updates & just put his mind at ease that she was being treated & responding well. That gave him great peace of mind. We are very grateful that they were there, open on a Sunday & that they were all so gracious & great at their jobs. Thank you so much!

Spectacular! About two weeks ago, our dog Raider showed some signs (lethargy, lack of appetite, etc.) of being a bit under the weather and experiencing some pain around his neck. We promptly made an appointment with our own vet and they ran some tests to find that it could possibly be meningitis. We were referred to Nashville Veterinary Specialists and headed that way immediately. We arrived and were promptly greeted outside (due to COVID-19 restrictions) and waited for them to come on out and get our dog.
This happened on a Saturday and they advised the best thing to do was to keep him there until Monday to be seen by the NVS neurologist for an MRI and cerebrospinal fluid analysis (essentially a spinal tap) to determine the level/type of meningitis. We were able to call them frequently to check on our dog while he was there...because, well, he's our dog and we love him.
Monday came and when the spinal tap was to be conducted, they had to shave an area on his back to do so. When they did, they found more than a few lesions on his back which led the neurologist to confir with the dermatologist (Nashville Veterinary Dermatology/NVD). In talking, it was determined that our dog had something called Post Grooming Furunculosis (PGF for short), something the neurologist had never witnessed before. WAY BETTER THAN MENINGITIS! PGF is simply a deep skin infection that manifests quickly and presents many of the same symptoms as meningitis. We were so thrilled to hear this new diagnosis.
Now, NVS and NVD did not cause this change in diagnosis to happen, but the staff and doctors are super...they cared for our dog and they continue to care about our dog. They're super helpful in contacting them regarding his treatment for PGF (heavy antibiotics) and they're super easy to talk with (whether by phone or email). From the front office staff to Dr. Williams (neurology) to Meredith Stevens and Dr. O'Neill with NVD, they have been top-notch awesome!!!
I highly recommend NVS and their entire team if you need emergency care for your pet. They're great and we're so glad they've opened a clinic in Clarksville, TN, but we'd still drive an hour for their services. Be reminded though, to the best of my knowledge, they are NOT a veterinary clinic, they work with your family vet for when your family vet cannot handle to issue. Again, if you're looking for people who love animals and will work with your primary care veterinarian to provide emergency care for your pet look no further than the team at Nashville Veterinary Specialists & Animal Emergency!

We had to bring one of our kitties in for a potential bladder blockage and were so concerned! From the moment a nurse came to grab him, I knew he was in excellent hands. Even though I couldn’t go inside due to COVID protocols, the vet (Dr. Smith) made me feel so comfortable. She explained in detail what she observed, discussed options ranging from the least to most invasive, and shared her objective opinion. When our boy ended up responding to the least invasive treatment, she immediately called me to report back and say that she would not move forward with our other more aggressive plans since he responded so well to the initial medication. They sent us with detailed home care instructions. While it was pricey since it’s an emergency vet, we will return if anything happens to our pets in the future.

Arrived on 29 June 2018 at 02:38 am. Young lady behind counter ran around and took our fur baby to the back for Oxygen ASAP. Our Cocker named Happy received the greatest care while she was in the hospital for almost 4 days. She was suffering from Congestive Heart Failure which our Vet in Clarksville totally missed. This is the most thorough Veterinary service in the state of Tennessee if not this portion of the nation. We used them in June 2012 and would never bat an eye to utilize their service again. Thank you to the doctors and staff and thank God for Nashville Veterinary Specialists and Animal Emergency.

The staff at Nashville Vet has been extremely helpful in helping us navigate how to approach our dog’s tumor. We have asked lots of questions on multiple occasions and the Doctors and Vet Techs have all been so patient and understanding. We just started Chemotherapy without doing surgery and so far Max is handling it great!

The loss of any pet companion is difficult. I brought my girl to NVS for heart problems a month ago and met with the cardiology team. They were caring and thoughtful. My girl wasn’t on a leash and they picked her up and cared for her like she was theirs. I received the worst news a dog owner could hear and they let me grieve in my own way, on my own time. This Sunday she became suddenly worse and I brought her to NVS as an emergency visit. I knew upon arrival my girl had passed. They brought me straight in, assessed her in under 5 minutes and gave her to me with her last 3 minutes of heat beats. They were caring and spoke to me with such kindness while I was a mess. I spent time with my girl and they continuously offered me more time if I needed it. I didn’t feel rushed. Today I received a personal letter from her cardiology team and it meant so much to me. NVS works as a team, and communicates as a team. Although I wanted to let my girl pass at our normal vet, I’m so grateful to NVS for their thoughtfulness and care in such a difficult time for me.

Saved my dog’s life! I woke up in the middle of the night to find my dog unable to breathe correctly and vomiting blood. I called to let them know I was on the way. As soon as we pulled up they were outside grabbing him from the car and within 10 minutes I had a call from the doctor telling me what was wrong and what our options were. His stomach had flipped and he needed to have emergency surgery in order to save his life. We decided on doing the surgery. They let me into the building to see him one more time while they called in their surgical staff. I was a crying mess and they were so kind. Once he was somewhat stable they started the procedure and they called a couple hours later to let me know he was in recovery. I picked him up the following day and he’s now sleeping at my feet. I truly thought he was going to die that morning, and had it not been for their quick action he definitely would have. Could not be more thankful to them! On a side note— I want to add to please give your veterinary staff some patience and grace. Their job is not easy! A lot of people got animals during this pandemic but not a lot of people started working at animal hospitals. They are understaffed and definitely under appreciated. Yes, you may have to wait a few hours to get your pet seen that has an ear infection or has had diarrhea for 2 days, but you don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes. These people are saving lives! Give them some credit. Thanks again to all the staff that helped save my boy Storm. He’s here today because of you <3

Dr Smith was the veterinarian that took care of our dog this past weekend. We felt that she has really lookout for Winston best interest. The staff is always so nice. This is Winston’s 5th case at the Nashville Veterinary Specialist.

Today we put down our sweet family member Maggi Sue Baker 9 yrs 8 months pit/lab. She had some issues for the week prior but were told it was arthritis (we took her here last Monday). Took her to another vet this Saturday 7/30/16 got some meds and it seemed like a miracle she was herself most of the day. That evening she had her first seizure in her life. We called Nashville vet and asked what to do they said to bring her in. We did and left her in their care and the doctor was very upfront about what she thought about it. Dr Sarah do not recall her last name. Brain tumor was most likely/most common. We left her there for sat & sun hoping they could get the seizures under control and we could bring her home.
I called almost every two to three hours to get a status update, they were happy to do so and I appreciate it very much
She did well for a day but this morning when we went to get her she suffered from more seizures. When we saw her, we knew it was time to let her go.
We got a room with a couch, rocking chair rug etc a good attempt at making it feel like home. The Dr was very professional (Dr. House)giving us time to spend with our sweet dog (we hadn't seen her in two days!). The procedure was quick, and sweet Maggi passed on and over the rainbow bridge peacefully in her mom's arms. They gave us more time afterwards and when they came in for her remains asked if we needed more.
We set up private cremation from a 3rd party thru the vet with a paw print keepsake. Nashville vet made it easy to get services we needed after hours and professional consulting.
The people here at this emergency vet are very professional and I felt like they cared about Maggi. We had a consult with the vet neurologist and they didn't even try to push a MRI ($2000ish). Which surprised me personally, however it has restored some of my faith in people who care for, treat animals and try to give the best care to their patients.
The photo attached is of Maggi Sue in better days. We will never forget you or the care you received from the vet when you needed it most.

I absolutely love Nashville vet specialists. My little kitty had to stay there four days recently as he was very sick. They were incredibly attentive, supportive, and caring. They will absolutely be my first call should we have any other urgent care needs.

Absolutely love this vet!! My dog has been feeling a lot better ever since he came here!! I love how friendly and efficient they are!! Will definitely be using them again if my fur baby has an emergency! I pray he doesn’t but you never know

My standard poodle, Henry, was recently diagnosed with a sudden onset grade 3 heart murmur. We were so upset and worried about the diagnosis and what to do next.
The staff at Nashville Veterinary Specialists were ready to see Henry right on time the day of his appointment. They were very friendly, professional and caring. The tech that took him into the clinic was very warm and friendly.
After his diagnostic tests were finished, Dr. Rodriguez called to speak to me in detail about the tests and how to manage Henry's care. She was very thorough and patient with me as I asked many questions.
We feel very confident in the clinic and the care that Henry received. Well done guys!!

The FEAR a pet parent has when their fur baby is in distress is immeasurable. Top that w/ being new to Nashville, not knowing the Drs & Care givers at an ER AND not being allowed in due to COVID-19 restrictions only communicating over the phone is a terrifying reality. When I had to TRUST that these strangers were going to take my very sick sweet Graceemay into their hospital and care for Her without me by Her side , I sat impaired w/ worry in the parking Lot. As the minutes turned to hours and the calls came in from Dr. Williams, hearing her voice calmed my racing heart and with the tears flooding from my eyes, I found myself OK bcz my heart told me My Graceemay was in the best of hands. Compassion, Care, Knowledge, Expertise, Thorough testing and diagnosis despite a complicated case . My GRATITUDE is abundant to All of the Staff and to Dr. WILLIAMS I am FOREVER INDEBITED TO YOU FOR SAVING MY SWEET GRACEEMAY MY HEARTFELT THANK YOU IS NOT ENOUGH🐾 💜🙏💜🐾

in may of this year, we had to put my cat down unexpectedly. everyone that worked with us were all so unbelievably kind. they are very thorough, clear, and professional. both before and after we put him down, they discussed options with us and i received his ashes as well as a paw print back. the prices were reasonable and everyone was very understanding, accommodating, and patient with me while we said our goodbyes to my buddy. i am forever grateful for the experiences i’ve had here.
recently, we had another incident with another one of our kitties. we went in early in the morning for some respiratory problems. he spent the day there they took amazing care of him. and again, they gave us plenty of options. they sent us home with some steroids & some medication and he is doing much better! fingers crossed that they stay working. thank you guys so much for your help and all you do.
Vollie Stone
Very helpful upon the initial visit. $2000-$4000 quoted for an overnight stay is unrealistic even for a 24 hour clinic.
Still, if your pet is sick, and you are worried, I definitely recommend them. They helped my cat, who is doing much better.

I had to come from north Alabama to this hospital as a last ditch effort to figure out what was causing my cat to be so sick. After the vets in my town failing me and not listening to me when I told them she needed help, Nashville Veterinary Specialists welcomed me right away and did everything they could. They made me feel heard and I truly feel they cared about her. Dr. Wang was the specialist we saw and she was amazing. So kind and explained everything thoroughly. She was able to figure out a treatment plan quickly and while actually listening to my concerns and thoughts about what was going on. In this case, she confirmed what I thought it was and it felt great that she took the time to hear me.

This place was recommended by a friend. I had a dire situation with my pup. He ate a sock, was not feeling good at all. You guys are consummate professionals. Even though I was upset, your staff was calm, kept in touch until my furbaby was taken care of. Would come again if needed, but pray there’s no need.
You guys are the bomb!

It was my second visit there and it was still such a pleasant experience, even when there was chaos going around no less! The staff are so friendly and upbeat even when it's obvious they've had long and/or hard hours, the doctor that spoke to me looked as if she was ready to fall asleep on her feet or keel over yet she maintained such a friendly and open disposition as she went over the details of my pet. I appreciate these folks so much and never felt better about my baby being in proper care, they treat every pet owner and pet with respect and with obvious love for animals (of course!) as if they were their own babies or we were relatives coming in for a visit. They deserve all the praise and enthusiasm, bless their souls 🙏
Mary Taylor
They took excellent care of my cat during his ER visit and stay in the hospital! I so appreciated each phone call with updates and each doctor I spoke with took all the time I needed to understand what was going on, to make decisions, and ask a million questions. I never once felt rushed by them, even when talking with the specialist was a 25 minute phone call. And after we came home, there were follow ups calls to check in on him and when I called with questions, they always were answered. I felt valued as a pet parent which in turned made me feel like my kitty was valued and well cared for. They made a really stressful situation less stressful!

Dr. Chris and the entire staff were so wonderful when my 15 yeat old MaltiZhu had a seizure. I will never take her anywhere else.

Nashville Veterinarian Specialists were great caring for our pup while we were away from home. They were very compassionate and upfront about the expectations both for the care and cost of our fur-baby, so there were no surprises. The vet and the nurses were wonderful about keeping us updated on the plan for each day, and took the time to answer all of our questions.
Angelina Thornsberry
The Dr's and staff here are so helpful and courteous. They treated my baby and I like family. They took such great care of my little man and made me feel at ease. I completely recommend this hospital for your fur baby. I can not thank them enough.

I I don’t usually leave reviews, but this place definitely deserves it.
Tonight we are putting down our dog, Halo of 15 years. We had put another one of our dogs down (Shady) in the past and that’s where we met ER Veterinarian Kelly Hineback.
We live out of town but chose to go here again just because of how amazing she was with Shady. We were able to hold her in our arms while she took her final breath, instead of a hard and cold table. I can not thank Dr. Kelly Hineback enough for how compassionate she was during one of the most difficult times in life.
About a week later I got a surprise in the mail. It was shadys paw print embedded in clay that I will cherish forever.
I could tell that the Dr. really cared and wasn’t doing it simply for a paycheck and that means the world to me. It is the little things like this that will make me choose this place and this veterinarian every time I need one. It is a bit of a drive but it is worth it to know that in the final moments of my best friends’ life, they are being treated by a loving, compassionate person. I can not thank you enough Dr. Kelly Hineback. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
Linda DeBaun
Friendly staff, great doctor who listened to my concerns, was honest about what my options were and made me comfortable that I had all the information to decide.

I was referred to this vet hospital by my local vet for emergency care. This facility isn’t local so I wouldn’t have thought to drive all the way here from Hendersonville but honestly, I couldn’t have found a more caring, thorough, professional, and top notch staff with fantastic people skills! The team here are filled with patience and compassion like I’ve never experienced at an emergency vet before. I worked with several of their team members on 3 separate visits and a final visit was to put my pet to sleep.
Dr. Baxter was so professional and compassionate, so thorough with his diagnosis and really listened, answered all my questions, and never once rushed me to wrap up the consultation. When he gave me the bad news that my pet had just mere days to live he was so kind, professional and sensitive to the situation, not cold and clinical at all! When I had to put my sweet Bella down Dr. McLeod was just wonderful.
If you ever have any specialty needs, after hours emergency concerns, or have to make the heartbreaking decision of putting your pet to sleep—I can’t recommended this facility and their staff enough. Our pets are our babies and this team gets that 100% and it shows.
Technically they were a bit more expensive for me to go here for end of life care rather than my local vet but the compassion and environment was so caring and detailed that I knew my baby would be in the absolute best of care. I’m so grateful for Dr. McLeod and Dr. Baxter. Highly recommended!
Michaela Carter
I can not thank you enough for being available for an emergency for my puppy on Christmas. All staff was very kind and compassionate.
Kristen McCarter
Dr. Cook, Kaitlin and everyone at NVS was so fantastic and caring toward us and our baby boy while he was receiving treatment for his lymphoma. So kind, caring and informative. Thank you for the extra month's we got with our sweet baby.
Jill Hirsberg
Nicest staff and best, most compassionate doctor! My dog sees Dr. Rodriguez for her heart and we drive HOURS to come for her check up. They get us in and out promptly and the Doctor is the sweetest lady ever!
Baylee Kuss
My cat was not acting himself, so I took him to NVS immediately. They cared for him. They were incredibly informative, and surprisingly quick for the amount of pet patients they were handling at the time. They treated his symptoms and provided multiple options for treatment plan. I feel very confident leaving my pets in their care. It was an awesome experience.
Tammy Keck
I was visiting out of town and had to take my fur baby in for an emergency visit. Thank goodness she is doing ok now. Staff was extremely nice, professional, helpful, polite, and took wonderful care of her. The vet was patient in explaining what was wrong with her and went in to detail as to what her discharge instructions needed to be. We were not allowed to go in during visit. They were very busy on the day I took her, and I understand that it is a Emergency Vet Clinic. After they called and I paid the bill from my car, they told me she would be brought out to me. After several inquiries where my dog was, It took over 2 hours to get my dog. That is the only problem we had. They got her the medicine she needed and feels much better. Thankful she is on the mend! Don’t hesitate to take your pet to this clinic especially if you’re from out of town like I was.

Dr. Stacy Smith was wonderful and the whole staff seemed concerned. Our year old pup ate a handkerchief. Our ONLY local vet ER clinic in Cookeville shared a REALLY bad plan with me when I called (get the dog to throw up but if that did not work, they would keep her in the clinic on IVs til Monday morning. That would be over 24 hours from the time she ate the handkerchief with, I think, the potential for obstruction/bloat?/ischemic bowel? from a gut blocked with a handkerchief. and our local "emergency" clinic told me that the charge would be between $1000 and $1500 for that plan (which in my opinion as an internist, could be deadly for my dog). The one great thing they did was to give us the name of the Nashville Vet specialists and animal emergency are folks. So glad we found the folks at this clinic in Nashville!!!!!! Haley on the front desk was very helpful, the tech we talked with knew the game plan- start with an IV emetic immediately to get puppy to throw up the handkerchief and if that would not work, the doctor would talk with us about the next step. Dr. Smith was wonderful, talked to her after the initial plan WORKED, she told us the next step in our dog's care at home and we took our baby home. The cost for the RIGHT plan performed by an exceptionally good doctor and a caring staff was $294. About what we pay here for a well dog visit.
The IMPORTANT thing is that these folks are excellent, know what they are doing, and do it well. We shared other success stories from this clinic with other clients in the parking lot at the clinic while waiting. These folks at the clinic are careful about COVID, too, which is great. Highly recommend Dr. Smith and this clinic. They are very busy; we had trouble connecting with a nurse by phone prior to the visit BUT as busy as they stay, more important that the medical staff is taking care of patients rather than getting information from us which worked out fine to do when we got there.
Andreea Minea
Excellent service and staff and very reasonably priced. Impressed of how well organized the process was, from phone check-in to curbside pickup and delivery of my puppy. The doctor was very knowledgeable, thoroughly explained the dog's condition and treatment plan, and took all the time needed to answer all my questions. Plus, puppy came out very happy, as if his exam and injection were never a bother. Couldn't ask for more! Thank you, Nashville Vet!
Audra Anderson
My experience with NVS was mostly positive! I’m very grateful that they quickly got my baby in after he got ahold of ibuprofen and for their care of him, especially when he was a handful. My only issue was that pick up was slow - over an hour wait, but it was after 5, and I’m sure there was a good reason for it, so I’m not upset about it. I was just anxious to get my baby and get him home and settled. I appreciate all of the updates I received from medical staff via phone and text. Everyone was kind and helpful, and it makes me feel a lot better about if I ever need to bring him back for emergency services.

I didn’t think veterinary oncology could be exemplified any better than by Dr. Vancil bit Dr. Cook proved just as fantastic! Thank you Dr. Cook for getting us in and on the path to recovery.
Jeff Deason
Doctor Becker gently delivered news about my bestie's status, the probable causes, the most likely courses of veterinary action based on those probable causes, and the likelihood of success and related costs for each. He genuinely understood my position, and I appreciate his nuanced response when I asked what he would do if it were his bestie we were discussing. I hope to not repeat the animal emergency scenario again, but the people at Nashville Veterinary Specialists + Animal Emergency made an emotional situation for me quite a bit more bearable.
Miriam Brown
Very helpful with my kitty who got sick after we just moved to Nashville, so I didn’t have a vet for her yet. Since my cat wasn’t an emergent case she was there for a while (to be expected, they triage cases as they should) but she received prompt and excellent care. I highly recommend using the mobile/at home check in if your pet isn’t in critical condition so you can wait at home instead of in the parking lot. Since I did that, once they were ready for me I drove there and my cat was examined within 30 minutes which was great. The best part was the vet, Dr. Lewis, called me multiple times to discuss what was going on, update me, give me diagnostics/treatment options, price quotes, and explained everything very well. Prices seem typical, maybe even on the low side considering the type of care they offer. Although I hope I don’t need their services again, it’s comforting to know I have a great emergency vet close by!
Christina Lopez-Jensen
I had a wonderful experience at Nashville vet specialists during a scary time. Even though we couldn't go inside dye to covid, Dr. Wells made sure we stayed updated on our dog's condition and spent time on the phone really explaining everything and answering all my questions. She was very clear about whether certain test/diagnostics would change her treatment plan. They were very up front about the cost of everything and our final bill was within the original estimate I was given. The staff were caring and attentive. I was very happy with the care my dog received and the thorough examination. I would definitely recommend them for emergency care!
David Anthony (Demonetize)
Very understanding nice smart place. Nice people here. They listened to me and got my dog I rescued right in for emergency surgery. He had garbage in his stomach from being a stray. He was going to die if they didn't take him in. He recovered in 10 days and now eats like a cow. Thank you. Very good surgeons and nice people
Thank you for listening to me I appreciate that!

Getting a cancer diagnosis for your pup is never a positive experience but the oncology staff and Dr. Vancil were fantastic - Dr. Vancil took the time to walk me through the details extensively and options for treatment as well as answering my questions patiently. The staff, particularly Kim, were incredibly friendly and kind - they put my mind at ease, especially as I was unable to accompany my pup into the facility due to COVID restrictions. Thank you, all!
Andrea Spencer
I will say this place is super expensive and there was a LONG wait, but Nesley was well-taken care of.
We arrived at 4:30 and we didn’t see a doctor until 7:15. I totally understand because it was a holiday and it was one of two e-vets open. I didn’t get to take him home until 10, but he acted completely fine and was well-behaved the whole time.
The next day, his primary vet received a report and followed up! I was very impressed because I had no idea anyone would call to check on us or that the records would be sent over.
We have very reliable vets in this area and should be very grateful! Also, you need pet insurance. Don’t get a puppy without buying pet insurance. The bill was high, but I submitted to insurance immediately.
Janet L Colbran
Dr. Wang is a marvel. She has really helped me keep our very asthmatic cat as well as can be. All the staff are kind, empathetic and efficient. And the clinic is locally owned, not part of a national chain without allegiance to the veterinarians employeed.

I unfortunately needed the emergency services provided by NVS a couple of times in 2021. Fortunately, my pets were well cared for and here today thanks in large part to NVS. I’m still doing follow up appointments in Internal Medicine (Dr. Sessions) for one of my cats and those have also been stellar experiences. Although pricier than some other options, I consider this the best place to take an animal in an emergency in the Nashville area. You get what you pay for and I would do it all over again. Thank you NVS for EVERYTHING. It’s not possible for me to overstate how thankful I am.

My poor Sweetie has been dealing with Atopic Dermatitis for years! I finally was able to get a referral to see a dermatologist at the NVS. From setting up the appointment to getting the documents emailed to me. It was an easy and pleasant experience. Upon arrival, I called from the parking lot and the vet tech came to get my doggie. She was so nice. Dr. O'Neil explained the process and stated she would call me back she was done examining my pup. She explained her findings and provided her recommendations. She gave me plenty of options to treat my dog. She was extremely thorough. Once, we decided the best course of treatment, my dog was brought back to me. They email me the care instructions and set up a follow-up appointment. Overall, it was a great experience.
LYLA MALZAHN
Even with having to sit in my car due to covid, my experience was great. The Dr was thorough and did a good job and her cardio nurse, Brooke, was awesome. Great experience from the time they came to my car to pick up fur child to the time they returned him was a very positive experience.
Christine Lenihan
NVS has a wonderful staff of doctors, nurses, technicians and more. It is a little tough right now since no one can go inside with a pet (Covid policy), so be prepared to wait in your car or leave and come back if a visit will take a while. It can be hard to talk to the staff about serious matters while sitting alone in your car. My cat has cancer, so speaking to the oncologist this way has proven to be quite difficult emotionally. My advice is to go with a loved one so that you may be together and support one another if your pet is very ill. The doctors here are so good at telling you exactly what is going on with your pet and what treatment(s) you can pursue. You decide if you want to move forward. I decided to have my cat try Chemotherapy which does not affect cats and dogs as it does humans. They do not have horrible side effects normally.
If you need a veterinary specialist, call NVS immediately. You will feel so much better for having found them. They give you peace of mind that you are doing all you can for your sweet pet.
When it comes to cancer, they may not be able to cure it in certain cases such as my cat's oral squamous cell carcinoma, but they can give you more TIME with your pet. They can give your pet a good quality of life for longer.
They give you precious time together with your pet. My Misty Girl is the sweetest cat I have ever met, and right now, she is in the care of the nicest doctor and medical professionals she could ever hope to have - along with her sweet primary veterinarian in Goodlettsville. She is very loved. I am sure she knows this, too. :)
Thank you, NVS! I hope to meet you all in person one day after Covid rules are lifted.
The Shadow Witch
They were so informative and helpful. They were very honest about treatments and other plans. They kept me updated constantly. I was able to leave my husky with them for a couple of days and know for a fact she was in the best hands. It was an amazing experience during a terrible time.
Meredith Wiser
We've taken several of our pets here over the years, most recently our cat when he had a urinary blockage earlier this week. Hannah and Dr. Himebeck were both really friendly and helpful with explaining what was going on which eased our nerves. We recommend them if you have a pet in crisis.
Caitlin Nelson
NVS did a great job caring for our dog after a raccoon bite. We were able to check in online very easily and a vet tech came out to assess him within a few minutes of arriving (during a very busy time at 3am on a weekend). Because there were many other critical cases, we were able to go home to wait and simply came back after receiving a text that they were ready for us a few hours later. I didn’t mind having to wait b/c we’ve been the more critical case before and appreciate that they prioritize appropriately. Once we came back for our turn, they treated him promptly and the cost was very reasonable, even considering anesthesia, etc.
Cindy Lynch
We brought our cat in due to either vestibular disease or some neurological event on Sunday morning. They were very quick to meet us at the door and get her seen by the vet. The vet spent time with us going over her diagnosis and providing options. The girls at the front desk were amazing. They always helped us if we had questions. This is an emergency hospital for pets and I think people forget that. We heard several conversations of the girls trying to explain the long wait if a pet is stable. I think people don't understand that and are not happy when they say it could be an 8 hour wait if stable. They definitely are quick once they figure out if it is an actual emergency. They are doing everything they can and I highly recommend them!
Pam Tripp
Nashville Veterinary Specialists is excellent. We had a serious emergency with our elderly bloodhound and they acted quickly, efficiently
and professionally. He was in surgery which saved his life within a half hour after we arrived - and this was 2:00 AM! He is now home and doing well.
Eileena Skrzypczak
They are amazing. They explained everything, answered all of my questions and gave realistic expectations for payment. Highly recommend, especially for emergencies. My dog suffered heat exhaustion and a possible seizure. They took care of him very quickly.
Nicole Hannah
We called on our way with a sick kitty, they were ready to take her immediately when we got there, the staff was warm and kind and answered all our questions.
Jessica Petersen
They were able to get my cat in that night when I thought she had broken her leg. It was a long wait, but at least we were fit in.
Sharon Parra
4.5 but that’s not an option in the rating. Everyone was courteous. We did have to wait almost a day to be seen because it was a weekend, there was a long wait line and critical pets had to be seen first. We waited at home and they called every 3 hours to check if our dog was stable, since she was, we were pushed to 10AM the next day. We thought the bill could reach 250/300 but it actually was $500. That was a lot more than expected, but we are grateful our little angel was treated and is recovering ❤️🩹.

Dr. Wesley Roach was the board-certified surgeon that performed our dog, Kinsley’s, surgery. He was very compassionate toward us as he explained what we should expect from the procedure. He was extremely knowledgeable, and that made us feel like she was in excellent hands — and she was! We appreciated that they had ultrasound equipment/techs on site and had vets onsite to read the x-rays. The facility is full-service. We didn’t have any questions about the quality of our dog’s care. In addition, the vet techs and front office staff were all kind, caring and capable. They kept us updated and answered all of our questions. Thank you, Nashville Vet Specialists, for saving our girl!

My experience is just beginning, but so far I've been impressed with the admin. staff, tech staff and Dr. Cook who's overseeing my dog's health issue. Experience, knowledge and professionalism has been shown at all levels.

Last week we took our Jack in to have a growth removed from his groin area. It was bleeding to the point where we couldn’t stop it. The vet got it to stop removed it and we thought Jack was out of the woods. We took him home and he died the next day. Not sure what happened we have called Nashville veterinary services several times to get an explanation but they always say the vet will review the stuff and call us by Friday today Saturday. There’s a part of me that thinks that he was given too much sedative medicine. Jack was very groggy the second day after we gave him his gabapentin. And then he just stopped breathing. I’m hoping someone will contact us. They do everything they can do and I understand that sometimes animals pass away. But I would like an explanation

Perfect staff!! The doctors and receptionists are incredible. They took amazing care of my sick cat. A big shoutout to Lexie for keeping me updated on his progress and being so sweet!!
Evette White
Even though they were very busy and we remained in line for care for most of the day, they allowed us to wait at home, communicated well, kept us posted, checked in on our injured baby throughout the day and then took great care of her when she did get seen. Diagnosis, meds, clear instructions all very much appreciated.
Debbie Watson
I have had to (unfortunately) take both my dogs, Scout and Ilio, to NVS several times in the last year. I also took one of my other dogs for care when he neared the end of his life several years ago. We have always had such positive experiences. The doctors really know what they are doing, and the staff are all so efficient, caring, and knowledgeable. I wish they could be our regular vets all the time! If you ever need emergency care for your babies, I highly recommend Nashville Veterinary Specialists. I cannot say enough good things about them!!
Kathy Dennis
Everyone that I encountered at NVS was professional and friendly and very loving with my girl( my dog, she just doesn’t know that). The Dr spent 15 minutes with me explaining everything in words that I could understand, which I really appreciated. I was very happy with my whole experience.

I am so very grateful to everyone involved in my little dog’s care yesterday. Everyone was so kind, compassionate and patient and I really do appreciate that so much! The care given was excellent and she is on the road to recovery!
Lisa Creech
Everyone has been super nice, they explain everything that they do and completely explain what they would advise but yet there is no pressure and only want to not only care for your pet but also support us humans with sometimes difficult situations. My sweet Cooper is currently going through chemo and I wouldn't trust him with anyone else. Great doctors and awesome staff!

I cannot say enough to truley describe the level of care Dr Matthew Cook (oncologist) provided for our 12 yr old beagle Emma. His ability to connect with patients at both an empathetic and professional level with honest and accurate expectations is unparalleled. Vet specialists leadership I hope you see this message. He will be our go to if at all possible. We had a similar experience with Dr Vancil a few years ago. They both are trusted and respected. -steve

My puppy was referred to the hospital after being attacked by another dog. The were very prompt on providing care for her. Check in process was quick and they were already expecting us. I am very grateful for keeping us informed and doing everything possible to help my girl.

Couldn't have asked for anything better for my best friend. They made the transition to the rainbow bridge as soft as possible. Thank you.

This hospital and staff are amazing. My baby Jax had survived a house fire but was in very very bad condition. He was admitted on Monday. Got him home on Friday and he has made a full recovery. The staff was very good to him while he was there. I am so pleased to give them a 5 star rating !!!!!
Anna Cherry
Dr. Cook, Erin, and Caitlin are so wonderful! Dr. Cook was incredibly thorough in detailing what's going on with my Moose and the options available to us moving forward. It is clear how knowledgeable/passionate he is in Vet Oncology. Really grateful to have this team helping my pup.

Thankfully it turned out my dog wasn’t actually having an emergency, but they took my concerns very seriously. I appreciated their conservative treatment approach—I didn’t feel like they were pushing any unnecessary treatments or meds to ring up a large bill. It was very affordable and I will definitely seek their care if my pets ever have a true emergency in the future.

Tuesday morning we awoke to a frightening scene, our dog Jasmine was having a severe neurological episode. We rushed to NVS and one of the front desk personnel came to the door and gently took my sweet girl from my arms. We are so fortunate that she recovered quickly, but in that moment time stood still.
In those hours of uncertainty we received several health updates from Dr. Smith. The staff was kind and patient and communicated with us frequently. Our little girl has major vet anxiety, and when we picked her up she had made friends with staff! They treated our little girl with such care and love, I will never forget it.
I also really appreciate how they send you home with printed discharge instructions, because your adrenaline is so high in emergency moments it is easy to feel like you forgot something. We will forever be grateful for what the staff did for our little girl. ♥️

The experience was great with the care my dog received. We got multiple phone calls keeping us updated with her recovery. She had major surgery on her chest and it was a positive experience. Her life was saved and the staff was very friendly. She spent 3 nights in ICU, had surgery then came home 2 days later. Our bill was $8500 but worth it to save her. The only thing negative I can say is the cost of prescriptions & X-rays are a lot more expensive than my local vet. I opted to have scripts filled locally.

Probably one of the best Veterinary appointments I've had, ever. And I've got a great Vet! We had to visit the dermatologist for our Dachshund who is having really bad skin issues. He has been super itchy and antibiotics clear him up but it comes back a couple of weeks later so we ended up going to the vet over this for over a year and a half trying to figure out what it might be. Finally, we get referred to Nashville Veterinary Specialists. I've spent a lot of time and money on this dog but I refuse to let him live a miserable life... he's my buddy! So, we have our appointment. The doctor calls and I'm expecting a diagnosis, a chat about what to do, the meds I'm getting and off the phone....right? Quick appointment no time to dilly dally the doctor is busy. Nope, this doctor talked about my dogs history, what we've tried so far, for how long etc. Talked about what she believes the diagnosis is and what she would like to try. Skin issues/allergy issues aren't easy and I know this. It's a hit or miss in trials to figure it out unless you can pin point it in an allergy test. I'm not there yet but might have to. I never felt rushed or like my opinion or thought wasn't important. Absolutely awesome staff and I'll definitely keep going and recommend to my friends and family. If you go, I hope you receive the same treatment!!!

Took very good care of my Jack Russell and answered every question that I had and kept me up to date as to what was going on. Took very good care of my fur baby when I myself was a nervous wreck and even came out to my car to explain everything rather than over the phone. Very personable and caring group, if anything ever happens to your fur baby this is the place to go!
Todd Jarrell
Kind, caring staff that take your pets well being as of it were their own. Thanks NVS!

My dog experienced major issues with one of her eyes over the weekend. I was able to check in online Saturday night and they texted me promptly Sunday morning and let me know they were ready to see her.
I texted them when I got there and they promptly came out to get my dog (at the time they are having people wait in their cars).
It only took 14 minutes before I got a call from the vet going over the tests they would like to do and the pricing. Over all I was there about 2 hours, which is a short wait time considering their parking lot stayed full and it was early Sunday morning.
I would 100% trust them again to take care of any of my pets.
Stacy Dudley
We had a great experience with both a parking lot visit and our first "in house" visit. When we couldn't come inside, the staff communicated quickly and thoroughly and we left fully understanding our care plan. Once we were able to come inside, the visit was equally as pleasant. The clinic is clean and the staff is friendly. Our pup received care from Dr. Ackerman and she has us on the road to recovery.

From the first phone call to our discharge, everyone at the emergency hospital was amazing. They were kind, compassionate, and showed genuine care for me and my sick pet. They kept me updated, and made my pet feel more comfortable. If I ever need emergency services again, I know exactly where to go! Five stars all the way!

Dr. Dottie Williams is outstanding. My sweet Scooter has Syringomyelia and she was able to help him when his symptoms were progressively getting worse.

After several months of trying to get to bottom of my boy’s Gunner bloody snotty nose I was referred here for help. The people here was awesome very kind and concerned about this. I have to say Gunner is NOT a friendly kind boy to anyone but his parents, they were all ok with this and took him back anyway to get to the bottom of his problem. Dr. Trzzle kept me posted on what was happening with him and suggested another procedure that we had talked about and found what the problem was. I have to say his road is going to be difficult but it is really possible that he will be able to live a normal life as normal as German Shepherd with when his next procedure is finished a (nose job) is able too. Hats off to all those that have been put there to help those that can’t speak and show little signs of great pain I am thankful for you all Angie Gunner’s mom

Everyone was super friendly and helpful. I gave it four star because it was expensive. My cat got bitten on the tail by another cat and cause a wound. They shaved the area, cleaned it and gave him meds. It was $500. Expect to wait a long time. I got there at 9a left at 11a. When I first arrived I waited an hour until they came and got him. They told me to wait in my car for a phone call, waited for another hour. Told me to come back at 3p. Came back to pick him up at 3p waited 1.5hr before they brought him to me. Good thing I don’t have an actual schedule at work.

I was sent to NVS by my vet with my cat in critical condition. Because of their comprehensive practice, they were able to evaluate her, narrow in on the problems, and have her evaluated by a neurologist within hours. They took excellent care of her and their prices for the two evaluations and care were much lower than expected. I highly recommend them!
Quentin Arnold
😭😭😭 we had an emergent situation with our 8 week old pup. He had a seizure at home— so we took him to his primary vet, who then sent us to Nashville Veterinary Specialists for further evaluation (by a neurologist). We drove him over immediately and they took him right back and started caring for him as soon as we got there. He ended up having to spend the night due to an additional seizure… but we knew he was in great hands (and we had a couple of friends who have had to utilize NVS services who spoke very highly of them as well). Now he’s back home, stable, and we’re monitoring him to see how he does on some new medication. All of the doctors (it’s been a crazy few days and the only name I can remember is Dr. House, but they were all so great) were incredibly kind and empathetic when calling to update us on his condition while he was there. Not that we want to have to visit frequently, but in 911 situations, this place is your best bet and the only 24 hour animal hospital with a neurologist in middle TN. Thank you for helping us and helping our little guy during this crazy time!
Carol Dentice
I took my 10 month old boxer in for an allergic reaction and I was in a terrible panic. I called them as I was in my way there and the girl on the phone helped me the entire time. Talking to me , asking questions, listening to my answers with caring responses….They all were very kind, caring, knowledgeable and all around a great team. My baby was all taken care of and the cost was not hiked up. I was very satisfied with our visit.
Angela Dale
When the heartbreaking time came to help my sweet senior girl rest in peace after struggling with ongoing painful illness on a Saturday, these guys were amazing. Staff was kind and accommodating, and the attending vet extremely gentle. I was particularly impressed that because they weren't familiar with my girl's condition and she seemed healthy, time was taken to gather her history to ensure the right decision was being made. It was clear that this fantastic team truly cares about the wellbeing of our fur babies, and trust them absolutely.
L Tutko
NVS staff is always compassionate and professional and take great care of our pets. We have one with IBD and she regularly has to see the Internal Medicine team at NVS. They are great and have helped us get to a point that we are in control of her digestive issues.
Kimberly Clifford
I was so grateful to all who helped with our dog Jake. He was bitten by something and staff realized how nervous I was and made every effort to get him inside and monitored; even though they were slammed that day.
We had an emergency visit with another animal hospital last year which ended our beloved Boo's life; needless to say we have very strong feelings against taking our last dog to said hospital and the staff felt compassion for us for sure.
I will never take our Jake to any place other than Nashville Veterinary Specialists if we have an emergency again - hopefully no more emergencies though.
Tammy Ellington
This is the 2nd time we have visited NVS with our fur baby. The entire staff is nothing but caring and professional from start to finish. They truly care about you and your pets. They are punctual and they are very thorough. Explaining everything even tough you have to stay in your car. I cannot say enough good things about this place. They are truly a blessing from God when you are so scared for your pet. Love them ❤️
Jennifer Ivey-Harper
Words cannot express how wonderful this place and these veterinarian practitioners are! We brought them a very sick dog and they worked incredibly hard to heal him. He is still on the road to recovery, but had it not been for their tireless efforts, this would not be the case. Dr. Sessions and Dr. Oliver are truly incredible human beings, and every person on their staff was very helpful and understanding. Of course, any emergency/ICU care is going to be more expensive, but they were very cognizant of the costs we were incurring and never once did I feel any test or treatment was unreasonable or unnecessary -- cannot say the same for the specialty clinic that misstepped and got us into this situation. Hard to say what the future holds, but very grateful our pup has a fighting chance.

I have always had very good experiences at NVS but this time I was quite irritated. I went for a consult that was not cheap. They wanted to talk to me on the phone and take my dog in without me. I understand having to wait in my car until my appointment but then go in with my dog to a consult room with my mask on. I can go anywhere in the city as long as I have a mask I wasn’t sure why I was paying high dollar for a consult that was only over the phone. I could have done that from my house. I voiced my concerns and the doctor did come out to the parking lot to talk with me. I do very much appreciate that. I did get some good advice and my dog is doing much better. I would still recommend the place for your animals.
Val Weinstein
You never expect to have a good time at an emergency vet, ya know? It’s stressful, scary, and often expensive. That said, we had a terrific experience at NVS after my dog ate something he should not have. The doctors and vet techs were all so great - the doctor talked through our options and really did encourage me to take the less invasive, but still necessary, action for our 14 year old buddy. I was a nervous wreck the whole time but the staff did everything they could to communicate and set clear expectations. Thanks for everything you all did and I hope to never have to see y’all again, NVS.

I recently took my 5 month old Rottweiler puppy to them that was in respiratory distress. We had no clue what was going on . They rushed him in and they were very quick on diagnosis which was spontaneous pneumothorax. It was a shock . He was in their care for the next week. They took our dog in and gave him the best care anyone could hope to receive. Their communication with us was exceptional! At least 2x a day they would call and give us updates. They explained every charge that was occurring and Dr.Trey Calfee and staff were absolutely amazing . They saved my puppy’s life! I DEFINITELY would recommend ! Amazing Vet Hospital. We are blessed to have them close in our city! Thanks Nashville Veterinary Specialists!

Bailey was treated at NVS. She was 8 weeks
and was snipped by our lab at the food bowl. It happened so fast. Bailey lost her left eye. The doctor care was wonderful. They told me I would receive updates on Bailey. I never received any updates. I had to call to find out anything on her. But other than that she is recovering well.

My sweet pup Smokey was hit by a car on Saturday night. I rushed him to the ER of NVS and they immediately took him in and started caring for him right away. While it was incredibly difficult not being able to go inside with him, I knew he was in great hands right away. Dr. Wells & Dr. Long and their nurses kept me updated and helped me to remain calm the entire process. Everyone I talked to was so nice.
Smokey's elbow was dislocated and he had several superficial wounds on top of his skin. He needed surgery to correct his elbow luxation, and I fully trusted them to perform it instead of my own home vet. Also, all of the quotes I was given for costs were exactly what I ended up paying. Given the circumstances, this was the smoothest and most comfortable process I could've asked for. My baby is home now and resting, and I'm SO thankful for all of the doctors and nurses who helped us out. 10/10 recommend this place.
Ken Bilbrey
This place has always been very professional. They have always taken great of my Piper. They listen to what I have to say as well as explain what is going on with my fur baby.
I'm not a fan of having to say in my car while they take my baby in but I do understand why they need to do this. The doctor does call me while I wait and goes over everything as if I was I person with her. That means a lot!
This time Martha came out to get Piper and that was a delight for me. She was very nice and professional, and was very loving to my baby. The only thing that could have made this part better would have been I could have got her number, you see I thought Martha was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for as least making my day.
Thanks again NVS for being there for me and my pet.

We had a very positive experience with Dr Armstrong!! I would highly recommend both the facility and the doctor.
Kim Narmore
Nashville Veterinary Specialists saved my French Bulldog’s life! I brought her in for emergency surgery to repair a herniated disc. Dr. Rossi House quickly diagnosed the issue, outlined risks, and recommended options for treatment. I was provided timely updates on my pet’s condition, which included photos and videos. I’m so grateful for the excellent care my pet received from the staff and doctors!
Yasja Hemmings
The oncologist genuinely cares about you and your pet and does a great of making complex medical jargon easy to digest.
Teresa Phillips
They were able to work with my schedule and get us in very quickly from the time of our referral. They took good care of my dog and answered all of my many questions. They made changes to her medications that seem to be improving her quality of life for the time being but we’re honest with me about the limitations of what can be done for her and how much time I can expect to have with her.
Mary Palmer Dargan
Excellent service! Fixed my pooch right up and we were from out of town. Can’t say enough nice things about the facility!
Kirston Smith
My babygirl Minnie got very sick after surgery (with another vet), I had her transferred to Nashville and after 4 full days they had her feeling so much better. From the people who answer phones, vet techs and vets I couldn’t be more thankful. Doctor Clark really stood out to me throughout this process - her communication was phenomenal and she went the extra mile I feel everyday she was there.
If your fur baby needs emergency care don’t hesitate to take them here! You get what you pay for!
Tracy Bidochka
Our experience with the NVS was and continues to be absolutely flawless, from our arrival to the email summarizing our appointment and phone conversation. Which I appreciate because sometimes it’s hard to retain all the important instructions.
Their team is so friendly, helpful, on point, and communication is always very fast.
My only complaint is they’re not my pets’ primary vet, the care they provide is on par with my Primary Care Physician and that’s saying a lot cause she’s a rock star!
I am so grateful for everyone there and highly recommend them to anyone in need of special care for their special critter.
Thank you!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience! My dog has had progressively worsening allergies and the Doctor did a great job of revamping his treatment plan. It was our first visit and we are looking forward to the follow up. All if the staff were so friendly and kind to us. This was an easy 5 star experience for us!
Angie Baker
Absolutely amazing!! Very caring, honest, trustworthy and informative staff. They don't try to push you into any unnecessary tests or procedures for your fur baby. They also don't try to price-gouge, and will work with you concerning making payments. If you ever have any emergency with your fur kid, definitely take them here, they will be in great hands.

I feel conflicted in writing this review.
My visit was an unpleasant situation. Some background: My almost 20 year old cat only likes me and never leaves my side. She didn't even like me being gone for errands. She hates vets from a bad experience, so much so that I had an in home vet for her. We knew that she would want to die at home. The vet told me this without prompting. We knew it was coming. But she didn't go peacefully. She was in so much pain that she was howling. She was open mouth breathing. Her in home vets nor anyone else could get there. I could not keep to the plan to let her be at home. I chose to bring her to be put down at Nashville Vet Specialists.
They took her back right away. I understood this and appreciated it as they needed information from me, and they could make her comfortable with pain medicine in the meantime. They didn't bring her back. I kept asking. Everyone there was very nice and kind. I knew my cat. I knew she wanted me with her. They said that they would not bring her back until I paid the bill. I said take my credit card, take my entire purse if you need but let her be with me. They said that they don't have the bill ready. They sent someone else in to speak with me. They were all very kind but basically telling me that I have to wait. They don't have the bill and it is protocol that I have to pay first. This was not acceptable to me, so they said well they are making her comfortable. How long does this take because it's been an unacceptable amount of time? (also when she finally came to me, she was still howling).
I understand that this was protocol and out of their control. They were respectful and kind. I honestly think they wanted to help do their best.
However, they are an emergency vet and should be better in these scenarios. I don't regret that I helped my cat pass over. I absolutely regret that I brought her to Nashville Vet Specialists and Emergency. All I ended up doing was adding fear and discomfort to her already bad situation.
I gave them 3 stars for their kindness. It is 1 for their protocol.

My dog ate some chocolate I called them they told me to head right over the moment I got there they came out to get my dog! They made sure my dog was comfortable and calm through the process. I was even able to bring my fur baby home that night! Super friendly people I wish I could give them more than a five star rating! Grateful for everything they do!!
Nicole Payne
I'll start by saying the team here saved my dog Rupert's life. There are no words to describe my incredible appreciation to this place. All of the staff is extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and empathetic. The staff and doctors treated us like family. The doctors have their own dogs on the donor list, so when my dog needed a transfusion in the middle of the night, Dr. Frazier and her dog, Luke, saved the day. They were so kind when I was constantly calling for updates and took the time to explain everything thoroughly. Is it cheap, no, but is it expensive, no. This is the best care your pet can receive, so in my opinion it's priceless. Thank you to this amazing facility. Don't have any hesitations about this hospital for your loved animal.

This place is a god send!
We called after 8pm and Rebekah answered quickly and helped us check for a microchip on stray and gave us advice and some pee pads for the ride home. We’re very grateful!

I've had two emergency vet visits with NVS; a blockage in my cat and poisoning with my dog. Both times NVS met me and my sick pet at the door and got them back immediately to start treatment. I first brought my cat to them late at night and they were the only vet office in Nashville that I called and was able to bring him in ASAP. With how positive that visit was, when I found that my dog ate a bottle Xylitol I rushed him from Hendersonville to NVS because I knew they would take great care of him. He was in the ICU for 48 hours and the staff kept us updated and even sent pictures of him to ease our minds. I have and always will recommend NVS for a regular and emergency vet. Thank y'all for saving my babies.

I feel compelled to immediately write a review about my experience tonight. I knew the call was looming, so was ready to jump in the car when my friend called saying “it was time” for her senior pup. She loved and was loved for 19 years and was my friend’s soul sister. We had a plan, but it was a couple days sooner than expected so we had to change course and find an emergency clinic that could support us through this process. I have personally never had to go through this and didn’t know what to expect. They created a cozy environment for us that allowed my friend time, space, and support from the moment we arrived to when we left. I am so grateful for this clinic. Thank you for your kindness, love and respect for the human, the animal and the process.
Emmy Singer
NVS is absolutely wonderful! Our little pup had to have emergency spinal surgery and the care and love he received was incredible. We never doubted he was in great hands. All of our options, the entire process and any questions we had were clearly explained to us with time and intention. We were kept up to date on everything and were personally sent video updates of our little guy's progress. The team of doctors and nurses were always kind and they set us up with everything we needed to have a successful recovery at home. We are forever grateful for everything they have done for our fur baby and can't recommend them enough!

Our dog was very sick during the Nashville snow storm last week. First off, I found out some of the staff had slept at the office to keep things running despite the snow.. Truly commitment to helping animals. I was able to drive over in the snow, and the staff was so friendly, patient, and helpful. I was able to get medicine for our dog and treat her. Back to normal now. Will definitely be back for any issues that arise going forward. Thank you, Nashville Veterinary Specialists!

Caring and very knowledgeable. The 3D animation of the heart was very informative.

We just brought our four year old English bulldog Barkley home after spending the night here at this location we had him at our local vet Haley Vet practice all day,he was in distress breathing,we thought he had gotten into some medication my vet did everything they could possibly do and they recommended us taking him here. From the moment we arrived they were 100% professional very kind very organized. Because of Covid we had to wait in the car and call and tell them what slot we were in ,they immediately came out and got our boy and took him straight inside put him on oxygen. The process was flawless and everyone we talk to got all the information they did not rush us at all, everyone that talked to you stayed on the line as long as we needed to to explain what was going on, they took such good care of our boy.I recommend them 1000%

We had a 2am emergency and had never been to this place before. As soon as I called someone answered with a very kind and sweet tone, they explained we could bring our dog Carolina in and they would get her looked at right away. We drove there dropped her off while giving her full Med history over the phone and they keep us updated during the night. We authorized them to perform any tests they needed to, but the vet called in the morning and informed us of our dogs situation and the prognosis prior to them performing any further tests considering the diagnosis was not a good one. We ended up having to put our sweet girl down due to a brain tumor, but my husband and I were very pleased with the kind care our dog received in her last days and that we were able to say goodbye while holding her in our arms. They could’ve done a lot more testing to run up our bill and they didn’t. I wish they did routine checkups bc I would take our new puppy here if so.

My Reese got excellent care here! Grateful we have a place like this so close to us!

NVS is the best Vet Hospital! They have saved many of my dogs lives time and time again. Thank you to the doctors and all that care so much for our fur babies.
Michael Phillips
They made me feel a part of the place when I first walked in the door. I never thought at any time that my dog was in bad hands. Surgery went great and I'm extremely happy.
Devon Lyons
I cannot recommend this place and staff enough. I brought my baby in at 1230 at night. There were multiple emergencies in front of us but they still got my sweet baby in quickly. I was an absolute emotional mess, but the staff were so incredibly loving, caring, and supportive. I never ever felt pushed u to any decisions. They were very upfront on costs but also provided multiple options and pure medical information for me to make decisions on my babies care at 2 am when it was just me and noone else to bounce these decisions off of. I cannot praise them enough. I wish they had a facility closer to Dickson County 😬
David Kleimola
Our dog, Tag-A- Long was severely injured by a dog that attacked her. My little pug had no chance against a Great Dane. Our vet recommended this emergency veterinarian hospital. The doctor (wish I remembered her name) was very comforting to Tags and us. After discussing her injuries, we decided to put her to her eternal sleep. It was about the hardest thing we've done. We were able to spent several minutes with her before given the drugs to put her to sleep. We can not be more appreciative for the doctor's kind and caring manner. I highly this emergency veterinary hospital.

Great place to get help with my dog's heart issue. Cheri Ann sees them every year. The staff is always caring. They give prompt service. Highly recommend Dr. Rodriguez and the staff..

A great experience. The staff was courteous and professional. I highly recommend in your time of need.

My 14 yr old baby boy cat suddenly ill and this great team assessed and gave him great, loving care until I could come home and say good bye. The team was so kind, compassionate and professional. I am so grateful for this team and what they do for our furkids. ❤❤❤❤
Tara Moore
This is the best place for any after hours emergency! They took such great care of my dog. They were so kind and explained everything in detail to me when I spoke with the Doctor. Answered every question I had with no hesitation. They also sent a detailed file to my Primary Vet the following day which was great. Thank you for all you do for our fur babies!
Alexis Hunt
They were amazing with my kitty cat!! They took her in immediately due to her trauma from an accident and kept me updated on her status and care. I would 100% come back here in the future if ever needed! The staff was also so nice and understanding! Thanks for taking care of my girl!!
Sassy D
They took great care of my Shorkie, Howie. He was in bad shape, and they were very clear in what their process would be to make him comfortable. He's back home now and doing great! Thanks to a great team!
Krista Olinger
We used NVS when our toy poodle was attacked by another dog. They were very compassionate and caring. They kept us up to date on her status and made sure to explain all options and answer all questions. They were also very patient and friendly EVERY time I called.( it was a lot) With COVID protocols I was not able to be with our pup, but I was confident she was in caring hands. Couldn’t have asked for better care in a scary time. We appreciate such great care in a very scary time.
Gabriella Stockard
They are one of a kind. They have helped my dog more times than I can count and they are always kind, courteous, and go above and beyond. They don’t beat around the bush to make money, and always put your baby first. Not to mention, my sweet dog Milton loves everyone there. Thank you for making a stressful experience as easy as possible!

We came in as a emergency referral from our usual vet when our jack Russell mix Tripp woke up on day 5 after being treated for a mild herniated disc, paralyzed in his back legs. We were immediately brought into a room and we had a treatment plan and consult within 30 minutes. We drove over an hour to see this vet. Our little guy is 4 and has had no health issues ever so we were devastated when something major like this happened. Dr. Smith, and Dr. House the neurologist who performed our pups emergency surgery to repair the ruptured discs in his back were absolutely amazing and so compassionate and empathetic to our family. I was a blubbering mess in this place and they were always attentive and so nice to us. Dr. House always gave us her professional opinions in situations but still maintained the level of compassion that we very much respect. Our dog is currently still being treated in their ICU, they gave us hope, and him a chance of having a normal life with a 50/50 prognosis of him walking again. His treatment was extremely expensive but they have been so kind and not pushy when it came to payment. 10/10 recommend this facility. We can’t wait to have our baby home with us again!
Valerie Keener
We have had emergencies with two dogs at this point, both of which were treated with kindness, empathy and what we felt was strong subject knowledge. Our first dog emergency was a heart-condition which ultimately ended in a very gentle passing, with the help of NVS. Our second dog emergency diagnosed an uncommon and challenging disease. We are still dealing with that and recently had to visit to deal with aspiration pneumonia, which resulted in hospitalization of the little guy. The COVID protocols are necessary I suppose but are disconcerting when your pet is in critical condition. Still, given that hurdle, the physicians and technicians were very responsive, communicative and very willing to answer all of our (many) questions about treatment in hospital and going forward after discharge. We are rescue pet owners of four little ones and are committed to them, come what may. It's good to know that our pets can be seen quickly and cared for so efficiently, prudently and knowledgeably.

As an ER veterinarian, I appreciate this clinic for taking such good care of my lifelong friend and her sick pet this past weekend.

Dr. Matthew Cook is wonderful. We can't thank him enough for his care and expertise during a very difficult time. The rest of the team at NVS is also very professional and caring. Thank you all.

They took good care of my kitty Jep! He had a very bad gash on his back and with their care and genuine love they showed him; it really caused him to open up and calm down so they could perform treatment. I know he was terrified, just because he has never had any medical or physical issues in the past. I highly recommend anyone having problems with their animals should definitely look into Nashville Veterinary Specialists! Also, they worked with us on a payment so that I would be able to afford my kitty's medicine. Thank you so much for being there for my family and I! We love the staff and the amazing customer service that they have to offer once you walk through the doors.

Our dog, Zoë, was having some stomach issues, vomiting more then two days in a row. Our dogs are healthy and never really have been sick like this. We were worried so off to our vet we went.. Our regular vet detected a possible enlarged spleen or liver. We were told we could wait to do ultrasound in 2-3 weeks. We got meds for about 8 days and went home... Once the meds were done, the vomiting returned. This is again, we said.. and we decided to not wait on an ultrasound.
I'm so glad we didn't! We went to Nashville Vet Specialists, we were seen in about 20 minutes of arrival. They checked out our girl Zoë, and nothing to be shown on bloodwork, or even in her personality! So, they told us to return at 6am the next morning for an ultrasound. We did.. and Dr. Wong in internal medicine, and get staff.. tool care of every detail, asking every question. And, the ultrasound showed no enlarged organs at all! We were relieved of course. Our girl stopped getting sick with new easily digestible food and 3 days of meds, even after meds... She was doing so great!
We couldn't be more thankful for the doctors and the vet techs help and care for our girl when it was needed. We will always recommend them for anyone in need of emergency vet care!
Thank you Nashville Veterinary Specialists for what you do!
Julie Larson
Very nice, professional, efficient, and clean facility. I have been there 2 times. Once in the middle of the night, and another during the day when my regular vet couldn't work my dog in. Both times they provided great service in a stressful situation.

Our primary veterinary clinic suggested we take our 16 year old long haired chihuahua Morticia here for care after she had been sick for several days and had three previous vet visits. They took such fantastic care of my baby. They kept my husband and I informed of everything going on with her. They answered all of our questions and we never felt rushed. We are so thankful to them for figuring out our little girls issues and helping her feel better. She is currently at home with us, snuggled up and feeling much better. Thanks to everyone who had a hand in helping my baby!

I must have talked with 5 different staff members over the course of my dog's 3 day stay. I have never been so impressed by a Vetinary place of business. Not once was I ever made to feel like my situation was unimportant. I received superb communication. Although my dog Bedford had to be put down in the end, these were the only people out of 3 local Vets that could determine what his illness was. I will never go anywhere else.
Thank you

We would highly recommend this veterinary office. Our older dog became very I'll. They were so kind to him. They were able to get him feeling well enough to come home for a couple days with us. Sadly, it was his time to go and they were so compassionate when it came to making the hardest decision. We were able to be present during the process and they were just so truly kind to us. They even have a very comforting room set up with a couch and rocking chair to spend time with your pet beforehand. It was very nice.
Do not hesitate to use this vet. The doctors and staff are all so nice. Also, for emergency care I didn't think they were terribly expensive. We moved from IL and easily would've paid 3x what we paid. We appreciate this because the financial part of it all is stressful too.
Thanks to the doctors and staff who took care of our sweet baby boy and did all they could for him. Keep up the compassionate care you provide.
Darla Lorenson
Absolutely wonderful! I can't say enough good things about Dr ONeill & Ms. Meredith! Very professional & extremely helpful making sure we understand our dogs treatment. They have both been a Godsend to our dog Ben & likewise our family!
John Wittman
Simply awesome! Dr. Ackerman was very throw, and took a generous amount of time to explain the issues my dog was experiencing. Her follow up and her staffs follow up instructions afterward we’re outstanding.
Don Carr
The Vets and staff were very informative and helpful during what is a horrific time. Tests were fast and the vets kept us up to date while we waiting in the parking area. It was late at night and we were tankful there was such a great and helpful place to take our little guy. If you have to go to an emergency vet after hours etc, this is the place to go.
Christy Wills
Thank you for allowing us time to say goodbye to Dixie. She was our first furbaby and she is so sorely missed. You were patient and kind during this horrific event. Your staff showed us true compassion when we felt like there was none left in humanity. Our hearts are still aching from this but your kindness helped us through. Anyone reading this please hug your fur babies everyday because their time with us is so short. Thank you again.
Kristina Ward
Breath of fresh air to find them, I brought my sweet fur baby in for one reason to have them tell me what was really going on. They figured out she had Kennel cough by just being on the phone with me & hearing her in the background. Once she was brought in they took great care of her and made sure I had the correct med's/information I needed to bring her home for recovery.
They are stored in my phone for any future emergencies and highly recommend them.

Dr. Sessions and his team were FANTASTIC!!! Just not enough words to positively describe our experience. They were kind, compassionate and detailed. They took care of our baby like he was their own. So thankful for their knowledge and guidance. Top notch
Texas Family
They saved my dogs (Sprocket) life when I accidentally ran over her in my driveway. Truly amazing! They’re high quality and wonderful! They were honest with me about not knowing the outcome and the cost. I trusted them and put her life in their hands. It worked! Thank you!
Sprocket is still alive years later!

One of my miniature schnauzers started throwing up in the middle of the night, she threw up about 10 times. We got on the net to see what we needed to do and different site said different things but they all said if you see blood take her in. We saw blood!! We then started to look for vets open 24 hours and found this place. We called and they said to bring her in, we put her in the car with towels and blankets and headed out. Due to COVID, we couldn't go in, they told us to pull into a spot when we got and to call them. We did and they took all of Bella info and then they came out to get her. The doctor called and ask a few questions and told us what she needed to do and she would call back. When she called back she gave us two options and of course one was a higher price. We decided to go with the lower price option because the doctor said if that didn't work, we can bring her back and they wouldn't charge for the exam. Bella got some fluids, they filled the prescription for an antibiotic and something for her nausea. She is doing great. I highly recommend this place they were awesome.
Debra Yoder
The employees were awesome. My little stray kitten, well not stray any longer, was treated very well. So glad to now know this place is open and reasonably priced.

This place is awesome. One of my cats had been sick and under veterinary care with primary. On a Sunday he wasn’t able to stand so I rushed him here where he stayed until Thursday. They took such great care of my sweet TanMan with at least two daily calls with updates on him. Ashley was the best when calling me every morning with his updates and putting up with my daily visits. Even though my sweet baby had to cross over, everyone involved with my baby was so sweet and caring. Will always be my go to vet if after hours.
Jenny Surratt
On the last full day of our 16 year old Australian Shepherd's life, we waited 8 1/2 hours in a parking lot while our beloved friend waited inside to be seen by a doctor. When she came out, it was with instructions to go see our family vet the next day for advice. A bandage had been placed on her that wasn't even covering her wound. On a day when we should have been cuddling our dog at home, we sat in a parking lot scared and worried. I'm sure my pup was scared and worried too. This facility's staff is courteous and friendly, but they need to get their staffing issues under control.
Victoria Butler
We enjoyed our experience at NVS. Dr. Cook had to deliver us some bad news but he did so with kindness and empathy. All of the techs and front desk folks were great as well.
Sheila Harrison
I highly recommend NVS for your pet emergency needs. They were up front, detailed in our conversations and so caring when my puppy needed to be admitted for a couple of days. Thanks to the staff my pup is doing well and back to being herself!
Danielle Fore
Nashville Vet Specialists and Animal Emergency were there for us on a Sunday evening when our diabetic cat had what we thought was a miniature stroke. They took her in promptly with little wait time, were great communicators, very respectful and patient with our stress level, and they helped nurse her back to health. She stayed overnight here and they were great about keeping us updated and returning our calls in a timely fashion. In addition to the excellent care they gave our cat, their facilities were very clean and the atmosphere was warm and comfortable. The extensions of their staff -vet techs & receptionists- were all extremely kind as well.
Caroline Poole
Our experience was way more than positive!!! The Dr's are knowledgeable, the techs are very savvy, and they even send pics via email as updates for the kiddos!!! We love our Vet....and our vet is Nashville Veterinary Specialists!! Top notch, very friendly, and loving!!!
Andy Kelm
Came in with a very itchy pup. The dermatologist was very educational and provided us with multiple options. She answered all questions to my satisfaction and developed a tailored and escelating tratement plan to meet our goals.
Crystal Orndorff
My family and I were walking a trail with our new puppy and he somehow got a treble hook stuck in his tongue. We took him to Nashville veterinary specialist and they took him immediately and gave him the care he needed. They were great! We were out in no time with a happier pup. They sent us home with his meds and the price was very resonable. I will definitely go back there if I ever have a pet emergency again.

We’ve been to multiple specialists throughout our dog’s medical journey. Nashville Veterinary Specialists has been the best experience so far. They treated my dog well, communicated clearly and I felt that my dog was in good hands. I highly recommend Dr. Roach and the team at NVS.
nikki loven
I had an extraordinary interaction with the Nashville Veterinary Specialists. The support staff who answered the phone and guided you through the process were kind and informative. My great pyrenees, Liam, was seen in a timely manner. The vet who cared for him, Dr. McLeod , was understanding and very descriptive in her findings and instructions. A little bit of irony, Dr. McCloud has a great pyrenees also. I would rather have been allowed to accompany my dog and see the facility, but Covid restrictions are intact.
Michael Jones
The amazing people here saved my dog’s life!!! She had to stay overnight for 3 days and is still recovering, but without the love and care from NVS she wouldn’t be with me anymore. No words can express my gratitude, y’all are doing God’s work!
Shelly Barker
Had an appointment for my senior dog Bleu to see the cardiologist, Dr. Rodriguez. A very friendly vet tech came out and introduced herself, (wish I could remember her name) just 5 minutes after my appointment time. She gave Bleu a minute to get acquainted with her while talking sweetly to her, and petting her before just snatching her out of her car seat, which I appreciated. She is older and a more nervous dog. Bleu had her exam and echocardiogram, and within 30 minutes the doctor was calling me with Bleu's results and recommendations. The doctor explained everything so that I could understand it, and was very friendly. I would definitely recommend Dr. Rodriguez and Nashville Veterinarian Specialist. It was a very pleasant experience for myself and my fur baby. 😊
Abby Gibson
We had to go to the emergency vet last night due to pain in my dogs back with movement. They didn’t rush to do a bunch of imaging that would have cost thousands, but gave us medication that would make him comfortable until our primary vet was able to see us. They did a thorough assessment and were able to give us the diagnosis and we are able to help our boy be more comfortable. Thank you for being so kind, compassionate, and appropriately reserved with treatment, we appreciate you!
Sarah Bailey
They took such excellent care of my sweet baby girl. All the staff was great. They explained everything super well, and were there to answer any questions I had. They were so supportive and genuine in their care. Highly highly recommend them for any of your needs. My baby was an emergency case and I was completely comfortable with everything!! Thank y’all for saving my babies life!! This mama is very thankful.

My last visit was to have my most beloved cat euthanized as she had cancer and became so weak as a result of not eating. The Veterinarian and assistant were conscience and kind. They have a special sitting room with lamp and sofa where I was able to hold her wrapped in a blanket they provided. I was told I could hold her as long as I wanted and given a remote to alert the Veterinarian when I was ready to let her go. I planned on burying my baby and I was told they could put her in a special wrapping and then put in a burial box. I was also given her paw prints in an album. They made an unbearable experience as bearable as possible.
Brittany Bandstra
NVS has always been there for the darkest times for my pets. They are thorough, transparent, and are willing to provide multiple care options when available to treat your pet the best. Can’t say enough wonderful things. Wonderful, honest, and cheerful doctors and technicians.
Allison Cannon
This was my first visit and I was so very pleased! Dr. Sessions was so caring, patient with my questions and made sure I understood everything from big words to treatment plan to cost! I feel good about our treatment plan and truly feel their concern and support in this process!
Emily Amonett
When our local vet was concerned about neurological changes in our sweet cat, Fezzy, NVS was the place he recommended. We took our cat who was hospitalized for 3 days. I was very confident that he was treated with the love and knowledgeable care that he needed. We received update calls twice daily. Every person we spoke with was kind, patient, and willing to answer all of our questions. Fezzy is now on the mend, and we are very thankful for the care he received at NVS.

Nashville Veterinary Specialist are once of a kind. Last Sunday my dog was not well. His stomach was swollen, and he was throwing up. As soon as I arrived they took Gizmo to the back to make sure he was stabile. That made me feel relieved that there wasn’t a delay in his care. They were very informative and compassionate through the entire visit. The doctor also explained thing in terms I understood. Best of all the price was very reasonable. I’m used to emergency clinics charging way above what a normal vet clinic would, that wasn’t the case here. Would recommend to anyone.
Krystina Lyons
I had to visit the Animal Emergency at NVS and had a really positive experience. The doctors and staff were very accommodating, caring, and explained everything very clearly to me. The plan of care was great and I felt that everyone really cared about my little guy.

*Edit-7/14/21: Correction of “Nashville Veterinary Services” to “Nashville Veterinary Specialists” in first sentence of review
Our 12 year old Shih Tzu was recently referred to Nashville Veterinary Specialists by her primary veterinarian, due to various symptoms she has been troubled with lately. She was seen by Dr. Rossi House, Veterinary Neurologist. My husband and I were both very pleased with the visit for several reasons. Dr. House was very professional, yet very personable as well. She did an excellent job of describing possible causes for our dog’s symptoms and also explained, in detail, the various options available to us. In addition, she very capably answered all questions we had in a very straightforward and efficient manner. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a Veterinary Neurologist for their pet. I have also been very favorably impressed with the other staff members with whom I have come in contact, both by telephone and in person. They have all been very professional, conscientious and personable, and have provided excellent customer service.
Corrie Groesbeck
This was our first visit to Nashville pet specialists for a surgery consult for our dog. Dr Travis was so helpful! She explained everything in great detail and then took time to answer all our questions. We really feel like our pups are in good hands with the staff here.
Loren Locke
NVS saw our dog Hank for an urgent surgery over the weekend after his normal vet said they couldn’t treat him and another local emergency vet specialist couldn’t see him until several days later. They took great care of him and we are so relieved to have him home and recovering. Dr Travis is great!
Tessa Collier
My dog was referred here from our local vet for emergent surgery. She ended up developing complications after the surgery, but everyone was so attentive and diligent about calling me for updates. In spite of COVID precautions, they advised me to come in and visit my Sophie in case she were to take a turn for the worse. They seemed so genuinely saddened that she wasn’t doing well. Sophie ended up passing away later that night, and they allowed me, my two roommates, and two close friends come in to say our final goodbyes to her. They led us into a warm, cozy room and they made that last experience with our girl such a pleasant one. They sent me a touching card a couple of days later in the mail. For such a heartbreaking experience, these people did the best they could and you can tell just how much they care about their patients and their families.
Candace Mowrey
Professional compassionate staff. Dr Sessions and Dr House were both very thorough and caring in their diagnosis process of our dog who presented with a list of serious ailments. We are confident that they are doing everything that can be done to help her.

I cannot thank you enough for saving Samson’s life (and prolonging what time we have left).
I was advised to visit the ER clinic when my vet found fluid in my cats lungs and the concern for heart failure.
Samson was rushed back and instantly take care of. I have never had such wonderful communication with a vets office before. They called and very patiently and thoroughly explained the plan - provided me options and pricing prior to do any testing. I also felt the pricing was very reasonable (especially since it was an ER visit).
The doctor called me at 8pm that night after we decided hospitalization would be the most beneficial course of treatment. She spent at least 30 minutes talking to me and answering questions. I didn’t feel rushed or a burden. Not to mention she had the absolute best bed side manner. I had no doubt I could trust her opinion and advice. (I believe this was Dr Smith).
I also received another call around 8am the next morning. I had been so stressed about him sleeping in the hospital all night and I GREATLY appreciated the phone call in the morning to give me an early update.
I could not have asked for better service and care for my baby.
It’s been a rough few days but I feel significantly better knowing we FINALLY have answers and a trusted treatment plan. I know Samson is thanking you all for finally getting some relief.
Thank you all SO much.
Denise Richbourg
Very gentle and professional excellence in a very difficult situation. I brought my extremely distressed sr dog in with heart failure. I thought surely we would be sending her to doggie heaven. But they treated her and helped her settle enough for me to take her back home. She’s back to nearly her old self this morning.
Kayla Hite
My dog was brought to Nashville Veterinary Specialists to undergo emergency surgery, and I could not have asked for a better experience during such a stressful time. The staff was kind and went above and beyond to keep me updated on my dogs progress. Without them, my dog would not longer be here and for that I am grateful for them.
Julia Perry
EXCELLENT vet experience! Everyone is so kind, caring and attentive. The vet that saw our pup was quick to diagnose, give appropriate treatment and explained the situation well. The appointment making process and check in was also very simple. If you need emergency vet care, this is the place to go in Nashville. I wish this could be Levas regular vet!
Sawyer Dickenson
Absolutely wonderful people here, everyone is so nice and helpful. But we had to wait four hours while our anxious dog whined at us wanting to leave. We definitely felt like we were placed at the lowest priority as several patients around us were in and out. I do not underestimate the potential emergencies and that there are other patients. But when we’re told “10 minutes” for a test and have to wait over an hour to get the results & then “should have your medicine to you and out really fast,” and still have to wait over over 30 minutes for anyone to come back to us, you can imagine the stress, especially for someone like me with pretty severe anxiety as it is. Some sort of update would have made this experience less frustrating when we’re not sure what’s wrong with our little girl.
Katie Ruelle
I brought my 3-month-old puppy in with an ear infection in the middle of the night. Not only were the staff professional and efficient when providing care, they were so compassionate to my sick puppy and to me, a worried owner. The clinic is well-priced and I was very impressed with the customer service and quality of care.
Steve Dodge
A really good group of Dr’s and staff. Extremely competent, caring and very thorough. We brought our limping dog in to learn she had a spinal tumor and they didn’t gouge us for an mri. Their Vet Neurologist was able to diagnose her with their experience seeing this type of issue before and told us what to expect over next couple weeks. Unfortunately we had to bring her back about a week later to put her down. They handled that with class and so much support. Very reasonable costs too. You can trust this group.
Amanda Stallins
We are very thankful for Nashville Veterinary Specialty. Our news for our kitty was unexpected and devastating. Our Vet and Techs were patient and compassionate even though they were extremely busy. If you have an emergency or specialty need I highly recommend them.
Kevin Conklin
This animal hospital/ER is just fantastic. We had a parvo scare with our 10 week old puppy, and their service was extremely timely, compassionate, and explanatory. I left the ER confident that my puppy would make a full recovery, and completely understanding everything that may have happened and what treatment at home would look like.
The ability to bring your pet here 24/7 is such a relief, and the location was clean, welcoming, and everyone I interacted with was extremely professional and kind.
Least of all my concerns, the cost for treatment was not too much more than I would have paid at my normal vet during standard operating hours, which was a huge relief.
Thank you everyone at Nashville Veterinary Specialists for the work you do!
Cindy Hart
Our vet referred us to Nashville Veterinary Specialists. They saw us almost immediately with not much of a wait. The tech and vet we met with were very good at explaining everything in detail regarding our dogs medical situation and their treatment plan. We thought they took all the appropriate measures to diagnose and treat our little dog. He came home and has recovered nicely.
We would bring our dog there again if he needed specialized medical treatment.
Brittany Miller
I had an all around great experience here yesterday. My kitten had taken out a few of her stitches from her surgery and we took her in and were helped within minutes of arrival. Everyone was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. We weren't overcharged and were given great advice. I will definitely bring my kitten back here for future visits! I definitely recommend this practice to anyone who wants the most sincere care possible for their fur babies!
kurt meyer
I was making a cross country road trip, and had to stop in at 4am due to my dogs urgent GI issues. They got her examined and gave me the meds she needed so we could safely continue on with the trip. The vet tech and doctor were both wonderful. Hopefully you never to use them, but if you I highly recommend their services.
Robert Mayo
I was very impressed with the professionalism, compassion and true caring of the hospital staff. Doctors Long and Cason were extremely friendly and truly care for their patients and their families. We owe a lot to this Veterinary ER Hospital and to these two doctors for saving the life of our beloved Brandi (Golden Retiever) This hospital is definitely recommended by us and we will continue to use them if there is a need. All our best!

Took Katie, our 4.5 lb, 12 yr. old Chihuahua to NVS when she began to have labored breathing and coughing. They immediately took her in and ran tests and xrays. After an hour they let us know that she was on oxygen and found to have congestive heart failure. They kept her overnight and weaned her off oxygen the next day. We brought her home around 5:30 on the second day with three meds and complete instructions for her care. We're not sure how much longer we have with Katie, but we're sure she got excellent care and love while she was out of our sight. THANK YOU NVS staff and Dr.'s!
Jess Canter
Incredible staff. We brought in our 5 year old Akita for lethargy, and difficulty walking. His diagnosis was a grim one, but the staff and doctor did everything to ease our pain. After weighing our options, we ultimately decided humane euthanasia was the best choice for our sweet boy. During our difficult time, the NVS staff was so comforting and kind. I cannot say enough good things about this hospital.
Lori Stucki
Our sweet baby Sophie (Maltese) grabbed a bone on the ground while out on a walk. We tried to get it away from her but a big chunk went down her throat and lodged in her Esophagus. We went to the emergency vet in Franklin, and they could not help her. We felt like we were not a priority at all We went to her regular vet and they said she had developed megaesophagus. I knew this wasn’t true because it all happened at one time. We went to Nashville Specialty Vet, they treated us so well and they treated her well. It was definitely a bone lodged in her esophagus. They worked tirelessly to get it out without cutting open her stomach or chest. Dr. Sessions was the best. Everyone there was kind and compassionate and we did not feel like a number they were just trying to get checked off and out the door. The communication from all team members was great. THANK YOU for saving our girl!
Donna Sava
I brought my dog in and the entire staff were so kind and professional and helpful! They gave me all of the information that I needed!

We had to go here not once but 3 times for our sweet dog Tanner. The first 2 times were related to him ingesting charcoal and he was taken care of amazingly both times and he got better quickly. Sadly our last time there was Tanner's last day. He had unbeknownst to us developed a cancerous tumor that ruptured at home. We brought him in when we realized something was wrong. They took him back right away and decided that after an Xray they needed to do more tests to see what the issue was. After some time with him, they kindly explained what the next steps were and what his prognosis was which wasn't good. After much talk, we opted it was in his best interest to to have him put to sleep. Every step they were so caring and loving with not only him but us as well. They understood our overwhelming grief and explained everything again and gave him plenty of kisses and pets. It was the worst day of our life and the doctor and nurse were so patient with us. I'll never forget how personal they were with us and Tanner. We thank you all for your kindness and giving Tanner a peaceful departure.
Marsha Massey
We thought the people that worked there were extremely knowledgeable and very nice. They got our little girl well again. But the long wait times were hard. They called us to see what time we would be there so they would have us ready to check out. We got there at that given time and still had to wait in the car 50 mins because paper work was not ready.. Also, very, very expensive!!!!!
Anne Dansie
Prompt treatment for my sweet and very sick dog. He was immediately whisked away to the back to be examined by a vet while a tech stayed and asked me questions. All the staff was compassionate and caring, they gave me options and were never pushy. In my short interactions with some of the staff I know that they had a genuine compassion for my boy. Which eased my mind as I left him there for treatment. The vet called me throughout the day and night to keep me updated and informed. Despite the sad outcome, I know that I took him to the most knowledgeable and compassionate center in Nashville and I have absolutely no regrets about that decision. The facilities were clean and the prices were very fair.

When my 10 year old cat Mufasa starting breathing rapidly I called NVS in an emergency situation. They were very fast about having me complete paperwork online and getting Mufasa when I got there. They were very nice and understanding about my financial situation and offered alternatives and even told me places I could afford services. They really care about the animals that need help!
Matt
It is tough to review this visit since it was our last. But Dr. Trzil had cared for Jake for over a year now for his diabetes and cancer. She was always kind and very compassionate when we spoke on the phone. She remained very objective while giving me the information I needed to conclude that it was Jake's time. I wish I could have met her in person, but the Covid protocols at the clinic prohibited that. Even in a very sad situation and dealing with Jake's declining health, Dr. Trzil made it bearable and I can't say enough wonderful things about her and her team.
Betsy Bennett
All of the staff at NVS were wonderful. They were very concerned about my puppy who had gotten into some human medicine and for me. I have been here several times and have always been extremely pleased with the care my dogs have received.
Marisa Kat Pollak
My cat RA has had a bad skin allergy for the last 3 years. There is no cure unfortunately but the staff and doctors at Nashville Veterinary Specialists are great and caring. I also have had other cats go there for emergency injuries etc. This place is really top notch on all levels
Christy L'Heureux
Our family vet had been at a loss for the pain my 12 year old chihuahua mix was going through. He has reocurring pancreatitis and after a month of relapses...he then developed some other symptoms and was in so much pain that we weren't certain about continuing to try to treat him. Our vet referred us to NVS and within 45 minutes, they had the answer. We went straight in upon arrival and were back out in less than 2 hours. Our little guy had not eaten in 4 days at that time. After treatment and prescriptions at NVS, he was eating a few hours later. We are so very grateful. The staff was amazing and the vet was very patient in explaining future courses of treatment and answering our 1000 questions. Highly recommend!
Kaitlyn Miller
We had a great experience with Nashville Veterinary Specialists. Although they were very busy the night we came, they were communicative, helpful and got us seen as quickly as they could. Definitely recommend!
Sarah Button
The facilities are very clean and staff is professional and polite. Unfortunately my visit with my dog was deemed "not an emergency" after 4 hours of waiting in the exam room. I was told he could go home and be treated by his regular vet the following day. I was relieved but annoyed that a staff member was not able to tell me this sooner. I was also charged the full amount of an emergency visit even though no medical services were rendered whatsoever. Just be mindful of this and whatever your pet may be experiencing....a trip to a regular vet will save you time and money.

My dog Martin has stage C congestive heart failure. We learned how severe his condition was with the information the staff and doctors relayed to us when we were there. I was so incredibly grateful for the monitoring, updates, and information as well as the necessary medications Martin needs. They were very supportive and understanding and understood my emotional connection to pet ( he’s an ESA dog) they were just an awesome team of doctors and we will go back for Martins check up when we return in a couple weeks. I can’t say enough about how appreciative I am of their excellent care of my dog. I’m blessed to have more time with him and know I can call the doctors at any time. They were courteous and very kind. I recommended them to pet stores I bought his new food at. I’ve been to a lot of vets and this team by far is the most exceptional. Very blessed to have them and to have them care. Actually CARE about my doggy. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!!!!
Kathryn Hurtado
I had such a wonderful experience from the moment I stepped in feeling totally helpless to picking up my dog totally hopeful. My dog was diagnosed with IVDD- I’m very thankful to every staff member who reassured me and went out of their way to answer all of my questions never once making me feel rushed or like an annoyance. They were very communicative and told me the price/test they were going to move forward, making sure I was comfortable with the decision. Wish they could be my primary vet!!

First off the staff here is absolutely amazing. Everyone who works at the front desk was unbelievably sweet and helpful. This was my first time ever having a pet go through surgery and they made me feel at ease and didn’t seem bothered at how many times I called to check in on him! (Sorry guys!) Second of all Dr. Roach was so helpful and amazing and fixed up my little fur baby. He called me before the surgery to discuss options and immediately after the surgery to go over everything. Also came in to introduce himself and go over everything he did during the surgery and xrays. I am AMAZED with this place and how absolutely professional and sweet they are! Thank you all for making this horrible situation as good as it could be for us.

NVS has dedicated and compassionate staff and Veterinarians. I have needed to take my cat (Eggo) into them due to two different episodes regarding his Heart condition (HCM). They actually were the ones to address and diagnose his condition. They have been communicative during his care and informative. No call has ever felt rushed and they have always been transparent. Dr. Rodriguez who is the NVS Cardiologist is truly great & always has had his best interest at heart. Also shout out to Dr. Luis who recently provided care to him and kept us informed during his time being admitted to them. She was so patient during our conversations! Thank you NVS for all you do ❤️ 🐾

I was in the area for the holidays and did not expect to need a vet - especially on New Year's Day. Incredibly friendly staff, great bed-side manner by Dr. Smith, quick and accurate treatment for my dog, and at a low price. I expected to pay an arm and a leg for emergency vet services on a holiday, but was pleasantly surprised. I hope I don't have another doggy emergency the next time I am in the Nashville area, but if I do, I know where to go. A few days later and my girl is doing great! Thank you, Nashville Veterinary Specialists!

I recently had to bring my 18 year-old cat in very late on a Friday night after he exhibited some concerning symptoms. I saw Dr. Cone, who had to give me the terrible news that my cat had advanced masses in his abdomen. Dr. Cone handled the situation with compassion and went over all my options kindly and patiently, especially since I was very upset over the dire news.
I had to put my cat down and the vet tech who handed him off to me for our final time together was also very sweet and kind. She offered words of comfort and the practice allowed me to spend time with my cat before the procedure began. Dr. Cone explained clearly what would happen and was so compassionate as he gave my boy his final peace. I honestly felt like Dr. Cone treated my pet as if it were his own and I couldn't have asked for a more genuine, compassionate doctor to have to go through such a difficult experience with. Thank you to him and the vet tech whose name I unfortunately wasn't able to find out.
They also offered several options for how I wanted my pet laid to rest. I'm very thankful that with the services they include a memento imprint of your pet's paw print. It came just a few days after my cat died and it is a meaningful, sweet object to have for his memory.
My only suggestion for improvement would be more sound-proofing between the room where people spend the last moments with their pets and the front desk. I could clearly hear the people at the front desk laughing, making jokes, discussing where to order food from, etc. which was distracting in a negative way given the circumstances (me crying my eyes out) while I was spending my final moments with my pet. Perhaps even something like calming music might help drown out any noises from the front desk/lobby area.
Overall, I would highly recommend this veterinary practice.

I came home from dinner to discover my dog had eaten an entire tube of chapstick - plastic and all - and, although it took some time to get seen, the Vet and support staff were nothing but helpful (they also said my boy was handsome, and he is!). They prescribed him some medication to take care of his upset stomach and he’s doing phenomenally well ever since.
My only note is that it’s very important - if your pet is stable - be patient. It took me something like 6 hours to get seen, but only about an hour and a half to get him taken back, tended to, and returned to me. I asked to go back with him, but understand that they’re still being cautious on account of COVID-19. Oh, and they were affordable! Under $200 for the whole visit, including meds, and I was very worried about that at the time.
