Great vet practice for bunnies- our Rex rabbit has a spate of health issues and the entire team at Kensington Bird & Animal Hospital does a great job every time. Highly recommend!

I started bringing my pet rats to Kensington Bird and Animal hospital a few years back Dr Sinclair and her staff were all so wonderful I decided to switch my entire clan of animals to them!! Now I can honestly say I have had my two dogs and hairless guinea pig cared for by not only Dr Sinclair but also Dr Kelly and Dr Bloom and all 3 veterinarians are excellent!!! The entire staff are professional, courteous, responsive, friendly, helpful and most of all understanding of their clients love and concern of the pets that are brought to them. I can not say enough great things about KBAH staff!! This is truly the best place for the care of your fur babies wether they have feathers, scales , fur or hairless they will be treated like family !!! Thank you KBAH !!!

I love this place. They always got my pets in within a decent amount of time. Doctor's are friendly. They have done all they can to treat my tiniest family members now and in the past. I wish I could say pricing is extremely low but there isn't a reasonable price for any Dr. Especially emergency service period Lol. They are well worth it because you get great service when you need it. Even if they aren't quite sure of something they find out whatever way possible instead of telling you there is nothing they can do like other vets I've been to.

I dont have enough words to describe how much I love and appreciate this vet office. I brought my leopard gecko Spike in to get checked out after a house fire, and Dr. Bloom advised she had 3 eggs growing inside of her. She recommended surgery and was super straight up front with me about the risks and the procedure and everything involving it. The surgery went fantastic and they called and gave me a full update and answered any questions I had. The staff here is amazing, so sweet, super honest, and all around just amazing. It's an hour drive from my house but ill gladly make the trip every time for such a spectacular office. For as long as I have reptiles, I'll never go anywhere else. 10/10 highly recommend.

We bring our cockatiel to Dr. C and travel 1.5 hours round trip to see her. Why? Because we think she is very thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. Her practice is well organized with very little wait time when you arrive to be seen for your scheduled appointment and a friendly staff. The waiting area and exam rooms are clean and updated and overall just a positive experience each time we go for a visit.

I cannot express how thrilled we are to have this amazing vet team for our rescued ducks and geese! We run Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary and we just never know what kind of medical attention our newcomers (or old-timers) may need. From basic care all the way to complex surgeries, this avian vet team is astounding! These professionals know what they're talking about. They give detailed care instructions, answer all of our questions accurately and honestly AND their appointments run on time (and check-out is quick as well!). Amazing, amazing, amazing!

Compassionate. I brought my backyard squirrel who had an issue with a swollen jaw. She was my fur baby coming everyday for over 2 years. They couldn't save her but we're very compassionate even referring to her by name, Van Gogh. I would highly recommend them seeing how compassionate they were to me for by backyard squirrel . If I had pets I would definitely bring them here.

They were very kind. I brought my sun conure here as his previous two owners went here. While they were not happy with him on my shoulder as soon as I explained that it was progress in our situation since he is absolutely terrified of hands. she was like oh. It's hard being the owner of a parrot that others had first, and did all the wrong stuff with that caused trust issues. The staff was helpful, and didn't talk to me like I was stupid. Which is huge. I've been a parrot mom since I was 20. I know what not to do with them. I feel like with them as his medical professionals we can work together to get him back to the sweet bird I know he was before his trust was broken.

Obviously these are unusual times we're living through, and it they weren't able to see Grunt (our bearded dragon) for 2 weeks from the time of our first call. During our first call the individual working the front desk expressed genuine concern in the length of the wait, and gave us helpful information in regards to treating our little man immediately, which worked. I followed up with the vet when the time came regardless, and was pleased with the kindness, and helpfulness of the staff, and Dr. Sinclair herself, who took the time to call me and discuss the results of the checkup. Price was reasonable, of course I wish we could have taken him immediately, but that is to no fault of their own, as they are of high demand due to the quality of care they exercise. This was our first visit, and I fully intend to take our cat here once more quarantine measures have been lifted. Grunt and I thank you Dr. Sinclair and Team!

My guinea pig, Blondie, and I love this vet office! The staff are so amazing and they love my little furry cannoli. 🤣🥰🤩 The staff go above and beyond, all the time, for Blondie and I can't express how much I appreciate and love that. After calling just about everyone in the New Haven area, I was referred to Kensington Bird and Animal for an urgent visit with my rat pal Ted. I am so thankful that I was, because Dr. Sinclair and her vet tech were nothing short of excellent. The quality of care and amount of reassurance I got from Kensington Bird and Animal really helped my peace of mind. They even had follow up phone calls that checked on Ted's recovery. 100% would recommend Dr. Sinclair's team to a friend.

This was the first vet I have ever been to. Our hamster, Ashley, had been slowly declining for the past 2 weeks. Could not find any vet that would see a hamster. When I called here the other day, they were able to get me in asap and it was a great experience. Dr. Sinclair and the vet tech were so nice and understanding and explained everything to me. We decided to put my Ashley down as she was very sick and old. I could not have been more happier that I found this vet. Dr Kelley and her assistant Cote did an absolute amazing job today providing me and my Guinea pig comfort and reinsurance that everything was going to be okay, after having a scare with a possible ovarian cyst from a misdiagnosis from another vet. I bring all my pets here, 1 bunny, 2 Bebe parrots, & 4 parakeets. Always so friendly and kind. I had an emergency with one of my parrots who was acting lethargic and on the bottom of the cage. They took him in right away. I drive from west haven area to this place because they’re so awesome, compassionate, & they don’t charge an arm and a leg. Best bird specialist in the state in my opinion!!

I have been bringing my animals here for years.5 years ago we had a hamster who had a lump on her they tested her right away and come to find out it was cancer. The staff was very loving and friendly and even gave us medicine to comfort her through the difficult time. Needless to say she ended up passing but went peacefully at home. Just last year our cat had broken all the bones in her foot the staff took very well care of her and she made a full recovery. Just yesterday one of our guinea pigs had an emergency I called the vet first thing in the morning and explained his symptoms and they told me to bring him in immediately. I showed up with him with tears in my eyes and they rushed him right into triage. Unfortunately his prognosis wasn't well and we had to put him down. They comforted me through this unfortunate event and handled the situation very well. When I saw him in such pain I could seen the pain in the Dr and techs eyes. They did everything they could for him and I appreciated everything they did.My puppy 2 cats and 1 guinea pig go to this vet and I wouldn't change that for the world the compassion they have for animals is truly a blessing and I appreciate them more than word its self. Thank you all at Kensington bird and animal for everything you do. I know you all loved speedy just as much as I did. Thank you again

It's VERY hard finding a vet that does exotic animals and before hearing about Kensington bird and animal hospital I would bring my boy to central in North Haven VERY expensive but had no choice .. but thankfully I heard about Kensington through FB ferret page and I never looked back !! Ive only been there twice and in those times always left happy as could be I would definitely recommend!!!!!! My little business loves running around when they get out of the cage !! I have 5 ferrets 3 boys and 2 girls ❤️ Percy,Loki,Thor,Star,and Princess thank you guys so much for caring for my babies

We had an emergency with our rat and they were the only vet that would see us. The front desk staff was very kind and helpful. When we got there, Dr. Sinclair was amazing and so sweet with my pet. She got him the immediate care he required and was incredibly through. I can always rely on your facility caring and treating all wildlife (with the exception of the RHDV virus in rabbits and AI in birds this year) that comes your way! This is only the second visit my bearded dragon and I have made here and I would hate to have to bring them any where else. The staff are very friendly and punctual. I recently (7/17) brought my friends parrot (Cracker) in with a problem with her eye. We saw Dr. Sinclair & her tech . Dr. Sinclair was the most compassionate vet I have ever met. She treated Cracker as if she was her own. And very informative for any of the questions I had. This was the first time I’ve ever been in that vet. And when I left I was so much more knowledgeable about exotic birds. I will never hesitate to come back & to feel anybody if their looking for a vet. I brought my Amazon parrot here recently. The tech and doctor were thorough with his wellness exam. They got a blood sample from him, did his nails and made diet suggestions. I was very pleased with the service, especially when I got him back without a single ruffled feather! Dr. Sinclair has been seeing my Thor bun for awhile now, and has been so helpful diagnosing all the issues going on with him, as he's 10 years old and has multiple health problems. She's always careful with him and checks him over thoroughly, and helps clean him up when his eyes or bum gets a little messy. I travel over 35 minutes from East Haven to bring him here bc I love the team so much. Everyone is so nice and fits me in if Thor needs to be seen quickly. Best place to bring your fur babies ❤️

The staff is always really nice which is what you want and need when having to bring in a pet either for a check-up or for something more serious. I recently had to put my lovebird down, and everyone was very sweet and caring all while being subtle enough around other patients. The veterinarians are also very knowledgeable, know how to explain things in a way so you fully understand what's going on, and are always accommodating with whatever questions you have.

We have a panther chameleon, & in CT, there is only 4 vets that take exotic animals.. Our little guy had an infection in his eye, we had never been there before. They were able to make an appointment, right away. The staff is wonderful, & extremely helpful. Everyone, from the front desk, to the techs, & of course the Vet. Highly recommend this veterinarian.

We sought an appointment at Kensington Bird and Animal for our Guinea Pig at the recommendation of another vet office in Hamden because the Hamden vet didn't offer care for Guinea Pigs since they are considered exotic. Kensington gave her a very thorough examination and a nail trim and said she is in good health for being an older piggie. We will definitely be going back to maintain and monitor her health.

I have come to find they are an exceptional traditional and exotic pet institution. The staff is always kind and understanding, and the techs and doctors are empathetic and informative. It’s hard to find good exotic care, but Kensington has amazing small animal and reptile care. The staff treats animals with utmost respect! The techs always help me with my many care questions, and the doctors have always treated my boys like gentlemen.

We found this place because out pet rat had an emergency and needed to be seen immediately. I had a long list of numbers of vets in CT and I called them one by one in between caring for severly injured animal. I was a nervous wreck because my animal was in distress and pain and bleeding wouldnt stop so there wasn't much I could do. Every vet that took exotic pets were extremely rude, told me I would have to wait for 8 hours in my car even if I did come in... it was a nightmare, until I found kensington vet. They were so polite, friendly, compassionate to our situation and offered to take us in right away. They did not discuss payment or refuse to treat the animal without payment first, they were overly helpful and actually got me an animal credit plan for 18 zero interest.I've never ever been to a nicer vet in my life and I've always had animals! We've been here several times now and every single dr is the same - knowledgeable, friendly, down to earth and helpful. I'm very happy to say our rat "minnie" is doing very well, happy & healthy because of them!

This vet was so good with my little parrotlet! I have never brought my birds to the vet before. Everyone was so kind and I felt my little Kiji was safe with them. I am excited to come back in six months! Update: I lost two budgies. And with the second one I had brought him here and Cody and Dr. Kelly did everything they could for him. Cody was extremely comforting about the loss. They let me hide and cry in one of the unused exam rooms and they checked on me several times. It meant the world that they did all they could to save my little Smokey. I am so grateful and I highly recommend bringing your birds here. I will be bringing Kiji tomorrow as of writing this to make sure he is okay and for his usual check up. I am very happy to go back just to be around these loving people who truly care about every animal out there. Thank you so much. Another update: Just had my boy Cayde go in for his first visit with the vet. He was an angry boy. But they were gentle with him and we all cracked jokes about his fit of pure rage haha! It was cute honestly. He is a healthy boy and they treated him so well. He was very happy to be with me afterwards. Lots of cuddles for the rest of the day!

I always bring all my pets here, from my 1st hedgehog to my 2 cats and to my most recent hedgehog that I just got. They always took great care of my pets, and everyone is friendly. Our beloved bearded dragon appeared to have a prolapse. We took her to a vet hospital and were told our only option was to have her spayed, and we were given an estimate of $4600. As a single mom of three, I called Kensington in a panic. They were able to squeeze us in the next day. Our little friend had an ultrasound, laid the ten eggs we were told we could expect, returned for a few stitches and some meds, and is doing great! All with amazing service, patience, and for less than 1/10 of the cost. Not enough great things to say about this place!!

We have been bringing our variety of pets to Kensington Bird and Animal hospital since about 1997. Dr. Teresa C has treated our many pets including a parrot, dogs, cats and even chickens. Dr. C. and the other vets are ery compassionate to both pets and people. They listen, are knowledgeable and also practical and what they offer or suggest for treatment options. kBAH has a friendly and knowledgeable support staff. The prices are reasonable and they always try to book appointments as soon as possible.

They are great! The front staff are friendly, the vets know what they are doing with parrots and do not charge me extravagant prices. Other vets have treated me like birds are not a common and want to charge me outrageous prices for 2 parrot's annual physicals. In fact Kensingtonn gives a discount if they treat both my parrots with back to back appointments. I can not say enough good things about them.

This place is great, I bring my two bunnies here to get their nails clipped. A vet tech does it, now with covid they come out to my car and take the carriers and then put them back in my car afterwards. They keep track of my rabbit's weight even though I'm not bringing them there for an exam. Last time they kindly let me know my buns are getting fat (lol) and gave me some diet advice for them. I really appreciate them looking out, the staff and vet techs are great, I imagine the veterinarians are just as wonderful.

Very, very good care. We live in Florida but travel to the CT area with our birds. This is the best avian facility we have found in the Northeast. Ocean State and Tufts don't have avian vets... Kensington has three.... The facility is well staffed and provides a full range of services for bird owners. Highly recommend.

This is the best expirience I've had with a vet in my 20 years of being a pet owner. The staff is always really nice to both the humans and the animals, and they are good at explaining everything in a way I can understand. They are so good with my hedgehog and handle her better than me. The pricing is also extremely reasonable. It is very obvious that they care about the animals and their health more than making money. I will absolutely be returning, and I recommend it to anyone with a pet, especially hedgehog owners

As a Wildlife Rehabilitator (my other "job"), I can say that this vet is a huge help for those of us who are non-profit and pay out-of-pocket. They streamline the process (rehabbers have tight schedules with feeding baby animals) so we can get what we need and get back to our volunteer work. They care about the patients as much as we do and that's hard to find at other clinics that will turn us away. If you bring them wildlife (that dove your cat "gifted" to you, the bunny your dog found, etc.), donate towards his/her care - this place is absolutely worth it!

I have now been going here for about a year. Everyone was friendly, open, and honest. They took covid precautions very seriously, and they took care of our rats so well. I have never had a vet be so wonderful and take our pet's health so seriously. (we would hear things like "but they're rats! They don't live that long so why would you want to xyz" at other places)

I was raised on a farm and have had a lot of animals. When I recently moved close by I had to have my 20 year old cat put down. After they did everything they could and even gave us things to make her more comfortable at home until there was nothing more we could do. The staff and the doctor were more than kind, they were helpful, generous and extremely compassionate to not only our cats needs but mine and my son also. I could go on for days raving about these complete strangers but I think this says it all. Thank you all for what you did for our Menew and my family as well. I will forever sing your praise.

I've been bringing my pets to Kensington for a while, and I've never had a negative experience. They are knowledgeable, thorough, kind, passionate and excellent. Many other exotic veterinarians I've tried don't compare to the knowledge and expertise of the staff at Kensington. I once had a bird with a broken wing, and I had to get him in to a 24-hour emergency vet. They patched him up, put his bones back together, sure. But he lost mobility of his wing, and the 24-hour vet said they did their best, but that's how he would have to live now. I took my bird to Kensington and the doctor there said there was another way the other vet could have done the surgery, and this way my bird could have retained use of his wing. Too bad I didn't know about Kensington sooner. They were able to give him some mobility back though, amazingly. This is just one example of the overflowing competence of Kensington Bird and Animal.

I have had several sick chickens at different times, some severely. There are not a lot of bird specialists in CT so getting treatment for my hens was not easy. Kensington saw all of my sick chickens and all have recovered. The ones who needed surgery were not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I'm on the fence but I think it's due to the covid procedures....which by all means is totally acceptable to be safe in what you do. It's a small office so I wouldn't be comfortable taking our pitbull there. I would highly recommend them for small animals including cats and small dogs.

Exotic animals are their specialty, but will see everything. Store front for feeds is also great and priced very fairly. I can't speak highly enough of the people who work there. Last week was my first time at KB&AH for our beloved ferret, Banjo. Our original exotic Vet couldn’t take us in, and referred us over to them which was an emergency. As busy as they were that day, they still squeezed us in to figure out what was wrong with my sick little buddy. They broke down all the costs for everything before they did any testing (which I really appreciated). Dr. Azureen Erdman spent time with me to figure out the best option for him. She never forced anything on me. I spent over 3 hours there to figure out the best solution with their help and guidance. We ended up having to put him down, but I can’t express enough how amazing Dr. Erdman was, the vet tech as well as other staff members. I was even able to get a clay molding of his little paw prints in memory of him. I highly recommend them to anyone. My husband and I plan on using them for our dogs from this point forward.

I appreciate this practice and every member of the staff more than I can express. My bearded dragon Zoe had her first appointment this past Saturday, but I have been communicating with KBAH since early last month when I took her to an emergency vet for a fecal test for parasites (obviously parasites are somewhat of a time-sensitive issue so they recommended I do that in the meantime). KBAH showed genuine care and concern for Zoe’s well-being before she was even an established patient with them. They hadn’t even met her yet but they provided the most advice and reassurance they could if I had called them with a question or concern. At my girls first appointment, Dr. Lee and Michele were nothing short of phenomenal. Zoe and I appreciate all of you guys so much, thank you for doing what you do! Unfortunately Sassy did not survive the operation even with the expert care she was given. Can't believe people gave this place bad reviews. Been bringing my rabbits there for years and have had nothing but great experiences. In fact, one of my rabbits is a rescue that they saved after it was attacked by an animal on the side of the road. They frequently take in rabbits, birds, etc. that have been hurt in the wild to try and rehabilitate them. I left a small donation because I was so grateful that this vet hospital exists and takes wounded wild birds (I recommend everyone do the same if you have the means and are bringing in wildlife). In my case, it was a junco who was somehow hurt and unable to leave my front walkway but was still alive. I learned from a wild bird rehabilitator (who could not take it in that evening) that this vet would take the bird if it survived the night. It did and they did.

I recently just moved to the area and woke up this morning to my cockatiel having what seems to be an eye infection.. also labor day weekend. I was up since 8am calling all the local vets. It's hard enough to find a avian vet let alone finding someone to squeeze you in last minute on a Saturday. I called several places that brushed me off, one place even had me crying on the phone with how they treated me. Not Kensington. The lady on the phone was very nice and thorough. She put me on hold quick then got right back on the phone. She told me to come down as soon as I can and they'll squeeze me in. We drove the 30 mins there and didnt even wait long! Also a plus.. not a crazy exspensive emergency bill at the end of it!

I recently brought my rabbit, Wilson, to see Dr. Kelly at Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital. I was extremely pleased with the care Wilson was given. Dr. Kelly and her tech took their time to discuss everything with me. I had to give Wilson some organic powder through a syringe and her tech took a good amount of time to show me how to administer it. There are not very many animal hospitals that care for rabbits and I am so thankful to have them care for Wilson. I also needed to contact them twice to report any progress and ask a question and was so pleased that they took the time to answer my questions. I rate them 5 stars for sure!!!!

I have been visiting Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital for many years. It is staffed by caring professionals from the Veterinaries, Vet Techs, to the office workers. The Vets on staff include some of the best avian specialists. I recently brought in my new adopted birds for a checkup and to get some advice on care and feeding of my sun conure, Oscar and parakeet, Stoney. They patiently answered my questions and did a thorough exam of Oscar and Stoney. I brought my daughter, grandson, and granddaughter with me. My grandson and granddaughter were very impressed with our visit to the Vet. I am glad that the pet shop owner who sold my my first parrot recommended Kensington Bird and Animal Hospital. They have been great with each one of my birds.

These Vets saved our dog’s life by referring us to a specialist in May after finding abnormal findings on a sick call visit. Saw the specialist and she was diagnosed with nasal carcinoma and had radiation treatments to shrink the tumor. She did well and is on the road to recovery for that issue. She recently developed a hematoma on her ear and it was discovered she had bilateral ear infection and bronchitis. It was recommended not to have surgery done on her ear at this time so it has been postponed. This clinic has always gone the extra mile to give the absolute best care to their patients and to their family members. The staff is friendly and have always kept us well informed about changes in our dog’s conditions and with follow up phone calls after visits. To them its not about the money they can make by doing procedures but about the best care for your pet. Kudos to them all....I wouldn’t use anyone else

The vets at Kensington are wonderful. So many vets that see exotics really aren't very comfortable with them, don't have all the specialized equipment they require, or just plain aren't very knowledgeable about them. Kensington is the polar opposite. I always feel confident I'm getting the best care for my two rabbits, and they've given me good advice on my other small pets in addition. I've had two microchips placed, teeth filed, a neuter surgery done, as well as routine checkups, and they were always expertly handled. I would recommend them 100% to anyone who cares about the health of their exotic pet.

We found a seriously injured cockatail in our back yard. The poor bird had visible injuries to her eye, wing, and feet. We named her Faith. We rushed her to Kensington Bird & Animal Hospital to a young lady named Alex. She immediately took the bird to the vets in the other room in the hospital for treatment. One of my guinea pigs was not feeling well and Kensington knew how to help her right away. She ended up needing surgery and they were wonderful. Dr. Sinclair was amazing and took great care of my baby. Unfortunately another one of my girls now needs surgery. She will be going in on Tuesday to have the surgery with Dr. Sinclair, and I know that she is in great hands.
