Great Experience! My dog had a medical emergency and after hearing great thing, we decided to take him here. We called on the way in and they were upfront and honest about everything and created an account for us over the phone to help speed up the process. They let us know that our dog would be triaged and assessed on how stable he was and took him in sooner than promised. The staff were very welcoming and polite the whole visit. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there overnight because I knew they would treat him well and keep him comfortable. Every time I called in for an update the staff were very informative and patient with my lack of knowledge and frequency of calls. Although we didn't receive the best news, I know that we gave him the best medical attention around and that with their help, he can continue to live a happy life! Both Cloud and I are incredibly thankful for the Bolton Veterinary Hospital staff. I wish I got names but I was just too focused on getting my boy better.

The staff here was very attentive & compassionate. I just recently lost my furry friend Lovely after 11 years, I wanted to have her cremated. They brought me right in late at night. made the process quick and as easy as they can for me. Respected my space and allowed me to mourn my loss in peace. They even mailed me a letter in behalf of the staff to send out their condolences not many places seem to care the way they do. The urn was beautiful & so was the complimentary paw print. I will cherish this forever. Thank you

We love this place. They took care of my kitten Elio very good, we came back here couple times because we trust this vet. But it’s kinda sad that they don’t accept any new patients. We would love to put this hospital to our kitten primary care :). We’re waiting for it.

Our cat had started limping and it quickly got worse so we brought her in to Bolton on a weeknight around 11:30pm. We honestly hadn't thought to call ahead but they were able to bring her to a room very quickly. The staff was kind, compassionate, and thorough, quickly figuring out the cause of her limp. Dr. Kos was awesome. A few days later kitty is back to her normal self! It was also way more affordable than we had anticipated. Highly recommend!

To watch him take cheese from you and then take the treat while checking it out at his pace was heartwarming. I took my cat Chester in late at night for bladder issues. I ended up bringing him again next day because things didn’t get resolved. They were very accepting in helping him right away. Very kind and friendly staff. Made me and my cat Chester feel at ease during the visits!

Dr Badeau and his staff were so compassionate and understanding when we brought our dog, Jerzey, in yesterday We did end up taking her out of her pain. We can't praise this facility highly enough! We were so impressed with their dedication to our dog's well-being and comfort. Their professionalism, compassion, and their commitment to our dog's comfort and treatment were way beyond our expectations. We want to thank Dr. Kopec and the remarkable team (I wish I had everyone's names!!) who were on staff that night for not only giving "Hugo" extraordinary care in his emergency but for patiently and thoroughly explaining everything to us every step of the way. I had to take my dog Amelia to vet hospital because she ingested something that got stuck in her intestine. The people there were excellent and took great care of my puppy. I would recommend them to anyone I know.

The staff at Bolton Animal Hospital are excellent! When my elderly dog became seriously ill over the weekend, they were quickly able to get me in to see Dr. Badeau, as an emergency. He was so kind and thoughtful, and helped me make the extremely tough decision to euthanize my sweet buddy. I truly appreciated the sensitivity and caring demonstrated by the entire staff throughout the process. And then a few days later, though they had never treated my buddy before, I received a condolence card signed by the staff members who assisted us, including Dr Badeau. Their level of caring was unexpected and so appreciated, at such a difficult time. Thanks!

Great relatively fast service for my foater dog, she had a bad case of hives allergic reaction from something...benedryl injection and steroid injection and rubbed her fur with some rasberry spray, it went down in half hour thank God! Poor thing was huffing so it was in her throat too, very scary.

Twenty-four hour excellent care. Many doctors and nurses on staff. My favorites are Dr. Oswald and Dr. Bishop. Been taking my pets there for many years. All of the staff are very capable, kind and caring.

The Dr.s and staff at the Bolton Vet, are all wonderful. They're caring and compassionate. Over the last few years, we lost our 5 dogs ...cancer, heart failure and just old age. The people here are as caring for the Moms and Dads on the worst days of their life, as they are for our fur babies.

We were able to be fit in for an Emergency visit with our dog within an hour of calling, this would be our first time here. From the phone call to check out we received excellent care! Dr. Kalos and her assistants were informative and comforting to our needs. Not that we've had "bad" experiences at our regular vet or vets in the past but I have to say this care was definitely different in the most positive way. Thank you to everyone for your help!

Had a kitty with a possible bladder stone and all the surrounding emergency vets said they were too full to see them! We called and spoke to the nicest lady who heard the symptoms and worked with the clinic to get the kitty seen. So thankful for their willing to be flexible and provide the life saving attention our kitty needed !

They are so helpful and caring. Our poor hamster hadnt been acting his usual self. We brought him in at about 1030pm. Before this, they talked on the phone with my fiance for a long time and ensured the great care they would give him. When we brought our Albie in, they were so careful and helpful with him. All of the staff explained everything so we would understand, and were honest with their concerns. They treated us and our hamster the same way as they would treat a cat or dog. Just because he is a small animal doesnt mean he didnt deserve the same care and attention. The vet was very compassionate and careful when handling Albert and we were fully satisfied with his care. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone, and if needed we would use them again in the future! Hes comfortable, and not in pain, and that what means the most to us!! Very compassionate staff. We lost our beloved pit bull Gypsy to kidney failure and the staff at this vet were so kind. She passed peacefully in their care and we were able to be with her till the end.

The vets here are wonderful, but the front desk girl I dealt with this week was extremely unprofessional and lazy. I went inside to make an appointment for my dog to have an annual because he is overdue. I’m aware he is overdue and am there to fix it. She rolled her eyes at me and told me I need to email a certain email address to make it. When I was there in person. And she was just sitting there. When I asked her to write down the email on an appointment card she rolled her eyes again. I also had a very poor experience with the cashier at the place next door that sells pet stuff. I needed heart guard and nexguard for my dog and she had terrible people skills. I got the ok to buy the tablets, but she gave me attitude. It’s unfortunate these low class, unprofessional people are the face of the office. I’m going to take my dog to another vet now. Thank you to the kind vets who actually do do a good job. I hope you fire these people and hire new staff who actually have people skills.

Brought my dog in after an injured toenail was causing her excruciating pain. They were able to get us in right away, Kim (blanking on her last name) the vet was amazing with my dog and took the time to explain activity restrictions, wound care, and medication instructions and side effects. Cost was very reasonable. I was expecting to pay the ER fee and then all sorts of procedure fees, but it was really just the cost of the Emergency visit and antibiotics, which was very reasonable. Best of all, Bailey was pain free and walking on her foot again by the time we got home! Excellent experience and skilled and compassionate staff!

The receptionist who took my call and Dr. Pesch, who saw my daughter and her hamster, took very good care of us. After having been treated poorly by 2 other emergency pet hospitals, the receptionist got an appointment for my daughter right away, acknowledged her upon arrival and immediately put her in a room where the doctor did a thorough exam and gave my daughter a clear course for treatment. Dr. Pesch also asked my daughter to call in a week with an update to make sure she doesn’t need to take any further action to determine what’s happening with her hamster and just to know that her hamster is ok. We truly appreciate the service we received today!

My boy was In pain and they didn't care about the financial they wanted to help my boy and set me on a payment plan they are miracle workers. I recently brought my dog to Bolton Veterinary Hospital, it was a very scary situation and we were really anxious. The staff at Bolton were so helpful, understanding, and patient. My dog is a rescue and gets very nervous, very easily. They were able to help her calm down enough in order to get her to go in with them. When the doctor called to discuss their findings and options for moving forward she took the time to fully explain each option to us and answer all of our questions. She spent nearly half an hour on the phone with us and was extremely helpful. They helped us through this scary situation, they were empathetic and compassionate, and I could not have asked for a better experience.

Our girl was having trouble whelping, she had 9 puppies with no problem but there we still 2 more. Of course it in the middle of the night on a weekend. There just aren't very many 24/7 Veterinary services. We called ahead and they wanted to see her as soon as possible. We arrived and they explained everything and included how much it was going to cost right up front. By the time it was all said and done we got great care for our furry family member at a reasonable price. We are very thankful they run a 24/7 operation. Our girl would not have been able to wait until Monday for our regular Vet to open. I highly recommend them!

An overall excellent experience. Dr. Zyra & staff were super kind, helpful, knowledgeable & professional. It’s difficult to get a veterinary appointment these days, particularly for an exotic animal, but BVH was able to schedule me in and I’m really thankful for the prompt attention to get my pet on the mend. Furthermore - being an emergency visit, I expected a hefty bill. Instead I was relieved to find the office visit and medication for my sick iguana were similar to what I’ve paid for routine visits west of the river. Really cannot recommend this office enough!

I had been wanting to leave this review for a long time. Last year, my 2 cats ingested a large amount of my dog's NSAIDs after somehow finagling their way into my cabinets (relentless felines to say the least). I called animal hospitals around the state immediately, all of whom had 8 hour + wait times, at which point my cats kidneys would have already failed. I do understand that these hospitals get busy and many suffering animals need help, but when I expressed my concern to the woman answering the phone at Pieper-Olson in Middletown, she rudely raised her voice and replied, "well what do you want me to tell you?" After hanging up with this beastly woman and exhausting my options state-wide, I found Bolton Animal Hospital. They readily took my cats within 20 minutes, realizing the severity of the situation with the utmost kindness and compassion. I cannot thank you enough for saving my cats lives. I am forever grateful.

I switched to Bolton Vet from CT Veterinary Hospital in West Hartford and am so happy I did. The DVM's my dog and cats have seen are excellent and professional. The support staff are also friendly and responsive. Everyone cares about the health of my animals and I am thankful for that. Although it is a bit more costly here than other offices, I believe the quality of care is reflective of that. My dog recently saw Dr. Badeau for her dental procedure and he was amazing at explaining things every step of the way. Thank you for taking care of her!

Beyond grateful for the amazing team at this veterinary hospital! The doctor was so unbelievably empathetic and patient as we processed the news that our 10.5 year old golden was diagnosed with lymphoma. Dr. Simchik stayed on the phone with us as long as needed to help us process and understand what our next steps should be. While we took time to process what we should do, she even checked on our baby to personally see if he was more energized. This small effort ultimately helped us make our decision to take our boy home and make him as comfortable as possible. We are so grateful and have been able to enjoy several days with our pup that we weren’t sure we’d have. The icing on the cake was our bill was extremely affordable even with our pup staying overnight. If you’re lucky enough to be in this area, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I wish they had people drs offices and hospitals as competent and caring as bolton vet staff. Most of the people here are incredible. The ones who love their job,you can really tell. *Dr. Zyra* you are everything a vet should be compassionate,capable,understanding and patient. There are other veterinarians at bvh like you also. I cannot say enough about what a great animal hospital bolton vet is. Saved both my dogs lives. One had an anaphylactic reaction and breathing problem the other stage 2 skin cancer. Both are doing well. So with the upmost sincerity and respect I highly recommend bvh as 1st choice in animal care. Thank you all.

An absolute blessing. The staff and the docs are knowledgeable, honest, and are not looking to rip you off. Not to mention they were the only emergency vet in Northern CT that didn’t say we had to wait 10 hours to be seen for a dislocated ankle on my kitten. I can’t stress it enough how thankful I am for the doctors and staff at Bolton vet hospital. Over the course of one month one of my dogs was attacked and had to be admitted for 3 days. Then my diabetic dog fell into diabetic keto acidosis and had to be admitted for 3 days. The doctors are so great and saved both of my boys. They were extremely transparent with what was happening. Had great communication and gave great advice. The cost is very fair as well and was lower than estimated both times. Extremely happy with them and I highly recommend. Bigfoot Is Right Outside

They have been very good to us and our animal friends. Our dog doesn't think so, until she gets a little snack... Then she usually ends up happy with everyone there after getting examined. The cats really don't care, and let the vet trim their claws with no fight at all, how about that? They also tried to help when our other dog had a bad issue, but eventually we found that it would be best just to let her go. They handled this so well, and she finally got the rest she needed.

12/10 would recommend this vet. I have small pocket pets (please read rats) and it is exceptionally hard to find a knowledgeable and experienced exotics veteran for their care, let alone one who genuinely has compassion for their species. Not only was their exotic vet wonderful with my Gandalf - and has rats of her own furthering my trust - but the rest of the staff was equally as compassionate to our human party in these trying times while we prepared for the worst due to the circumstances of the visit, a euthanasia. From the first vet visit, to the last, Bolton Veterinary Hospital has earned my trust, and respect. They are well beyond priced, empathetic, and fit me in without a second thought same day for our emergency. I can not recommend this team enough for your fur family needs!

We had an emergency with our cat at 10pm on a Sunday night where she needed to be seen immediately. I had heard great things about this vet and decided to give them a call. While they were 20 minutes farther away than the closer emergency vet, I am SO GLAD I did. The staff were knowledgable, compassionate, and professional. They communicated everything that was going on. I even received a call this morning going over how my cat did overnight and what the next steps were. The cost was also significantly less expensive than I anticipated as well. I will definitely be going back with any emergency that may come up for my animals.

Open 24 hours for Emergencies. Our cat fell I'll yesterday. He was clearly in pain and had a swollen jaw. It was late evening on a Sunday. They got us into a room within 2 minutes. A nice staffer did a preliminary assessment with some great TLC. The doc came in and the team did a thorough assessment. Our visit was interrupted by a much more serious case and we were happy to yield our exam so the other severely injured cat was attended to. Upon finishing up, the staff released us with a shot of antibiotic and an anti inflammatory injection. Cat is recovering well today. Bolton even called or regular vet to advise her about our ER visit. Highly recommended!

We had to take our Yorkie in as an emergency this morning (a Sunday), he had been vomiting since yesterday afternoon. The staff was very friendly and considerate of my request to stay with our pup while blood was drawn and shots were given. The doctor did the necessary work up, was very knowledgeable, and super nice. This was our second visit in 6 years but they treated us like we were their 'patients'. After personally researching everybodys opinions and vet recommendations, I narrowed my search down to either Bolton or Granby as they got the most positive reviews in my research. I am SO happy and grateful I chose Bolton for my very muscular and very over excitable 75lb pittie rescue. Everyone at Bolton we've interacted with has been beyond exceptional, veryyyy informative and truly cares for my pups best interest and care. I recommend Bolton to anybody and everybody looking for a vet. Extra bonus was getting our bill and it being half of what i expected. If you want good quality care for your pet at a very fair price i recommend bolton. Extra perk theyre 24hrs, another huge selling point for me

Had a great experience taking our dog here (as great as possible for an animal injury.) With all the ice and snow on the ground, when he was running around last night, his dew claw got snapped back. Even though it was later in the evening, they were able to have us come right away. Within 5 mins of our scheduled appointment time and checking in over the phone, they called back and we brought our dog to the front for them to take in. He was in there for about an hour, and the overall cost was very fair for a late night emergency visit. While I hope to not have to use them often, they were absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended!

We recently had an emergency with our bunny on a wednesday evening. Called Bolton and they got us in to see their exotic vet at 8:30 pm. He was admitted for treatment . The techs and vets were amazing at keeping us informed as to his condition and his continued treatment. I had an emergency and rushed my cat there on a Sunday. The staff was very friendly and the doctor kept in touch with me every day as I had to leave my very sick cat there for 3 days. Thank god they were able to save my baby, she had pneumonia and upper respiratory inflection. They were amazing. I used their emergency services and have since made them my primary vet. Their prices for regular hour visits are half the other vets I've used. I recommend them for everyone.

I have had the most wonderful experience at Bolton Vet. My 16 year old shih tzu had several trips here at the beginning of 2021 when her health started declining. I've never been to a vet where I can talk to the doctor for 30+ minutes regarding my dogs medical conditions. Multiple vets saw her, Dr. LaVallee being one, and would take time to watch her behavior, which is how they knew she had a brain tumor. I've never had any vet show the amount of care and attention to my animals as Dr. LaVallee and the others showed to my dog in her last month of life. My only criticism is when my dog sadly had to be euthanized, the receptionists were loudly talking about their personal lives. I wished there was a policy in place so the workers knew when this procedure was happening. I had my dog for 16 years and saying goodbye was beyond difficult. Other than that, my experience has remained good. Dr. LaVallee is amazing. I take my other dog, whose also a senior, to her today. She always gives me all the options regarding tests we could run. What I appreciate about her, is she knows my dog is old. And she doesn't treat her the way she would a puppy. For example, my dog will hack. And I brought this up to Dr. LaVallee. She said it could be she has a small airway, or it could be something more serious. Given her age, we could run an x ray. Or we could wait and see. After just losing my other dog, I wanted to be proactive so we ran the test. But I really appreciated her giving me the options and taking into account my dogs age. It is hard to find a vet as caring, honest, and thorough as Dr. LaVallee and the other vets I have met here. I do believe being at a hospital makes them more diagnostically focused. I moved about an hour for Bolton but will never take my dog anywhere else (unless there's an emergency of course). I cannot say enough good things about Dr. LaVallee and the other vets I've seen here.

Dr. Pikas and his staff were extremely efficient and super compassionate. He took the time to explain everything carefully, asked several times if I had any questions , and sent me home with excellent written instructions. They were able to see my sick dog immediately in the middle of a snow storm, can’t ask for better than that. I would recommend them wholeheartedly and will not think of going anywhere else for emergency care for my pets even though it is almost an hour drive. Thank you Dr. Pikas and staff !! I have a chinchilla, and I had called at least 10 vets around me, all which hung up after me asking if they treat them. This hospital got my baby in with no problem. I drove out of state to go to this hospital and I will have to say I will do it again for all my babies. The nurses and the doctor had amazing and kindness about them that many don’t have anymore. My regular vet and several other vets closer to my home couldn’t get me in when my cat suddenly fell seriously ill. Bolton Veterinary Hospital arranged an appointment immediately even though it was clear once we arrived that they were very busy. COVID precautions were clearly explained and strictly followed as far as I could see. Everyone we spoke with was extremely friendly, professional, and accommodating. The vet took the time to explain the situation and answer all of our questions. Although our sweet cat ended up needing to be euthanized I still considered this to be a positive experience because I felt our pet was truly cared for and the genuine compassion from all the staff made a very sad ordeal much easier.

My roommate's dog just started having seizures. We called them and they talked is through it. He had a second one and called explained some more stuff to my roommate. The the third one happened around 2:15 am and they had us bring him. The tech was kind, understanding and very knowledgeable. She was observing Covid-19 precautions which didn't allow us to enter the hospital. They have called my roommate regularly to update her about her dog. We feel confident that they have his best wishes at heart. I feel better knowing that my roommate's dog who is family to us is being well taken care of.

I called 2 other emergencies vets in my area to have my dog seen on a Sunday and they were both unable to see him. I called Bolton Veterinary Hospital and they set me up with an apt same day at 8:30pm. I called when I arrived and waited approximately 3 minutes before they came out to get him. The doctor personally called to get info about him before he was seen and then afterwards to let me know what she found on her exam. Everyone was pleasant and professional from the first phone call to checking out. Very refreshing to not feel like a burden when you call an EMERGENCY VET to have your animal seen.

I've found my new favorite vet. I switched to Bolton Vet a few months ago when I had an issue with a different place and Bolton Vet was amazing and saved me an additional office visit. This time, I called in the morning and was able to get a last minute appointment today(a Saturday) for something that had happened overnight. Like every vet I've been to I waited for a little while after my appointment time to be shown into a room but my wait time in the room was very minimal. Even when she left the room to run a urinalysis, I didn't feel like I was kept waiting. I LOVED Dr. Bishop. She was compassionate and straightforward. When I switched to this vet I had been warned by my mother that in her experience with them they would frequently insist on tests/visits that weren't totally necessary just to rack up your bill (because your pets can't speak to you, ya know?). Dr. Bishop did not do ANY of that, in fact after taking the time to have a real conversation with me about my issue i felt like we had come to a conclusion together of what was right for us (myself and my pet) which saved me an additional test/unnecessary medication. It was really the first time I had left a vet feeling good about what I had spent and the service we had received. I'm so very glad to have found someone that I trust with my little squishies.

I called the Bolton Veterinary Hospital panicking because I had spent hours calling more than 15 veterinarians trying to find someone to treat my ball python. Her thermostat broke and her heat mat burned her badly. The Bolton staff was so incredibly communicative, even given the social distancing. They took such wonderful care of Willow, and they were all so great to me. I can't have asked for a better experience as a scared pet parent. I drove 55 minutes there, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm so grateful for everything they've done to help Willow!

Amazing rabbit vets! If your rabbit is having an emergency, this is the place to call. They are the only 24hr emergency vet that consistently has a rabbit vet on staff within a 50 mile radius of Springfield, MA. My rabbit had three bouts of GI stasis in 6 months and they were able to see him within a few hours each time. He recovered very quickly each time he was seen. The only other emergency vets for rabbits I could find were both in Boston (Tufts and Angell) which were twice as far from Springfield, MA as Bolton, CT is from Springfield. Highly recommended, especially in an emergency!

I've brought my pets to a few vets in the area, but I come here more frequently because of there extensive experience with reptiles and exotics. Dr. Zyra is incredible - she's my absolute favorite. I've seen her with a few rescues, including a guinea pig, 2 snakes and an iguana. The reason I love her so much is we acquired the iguana as a rescue as he was knocking on death's door - emaciated, malnourished, mouth rot and a bacterial infection in multiple places - she gave us great advice on how to nurse him back to health and he made a full recovery. She was very receptive to questions and incredibly compassionate. I've seen many other doctors there for my cats, and generally my experience has always been favorable. Dr. Malm is a little too... judgmental for my taste, but maybe that was just me. We thought it was time to lay one of our pets to rest and he made us feel very lousy about it and ultimately we had to come back a month later and another doctor confirmed it was time to put him down. It was unnecessary heartache for us and our cat watching him suffer, not to mention the added cost, so I'm not a huge fan of him. Overall I'm happy with the standard of care, bedside manner and appointment availability. The receptionist's are also very compassionate.

I have to tell you I have never been to a better vet in all my years. My dog buster has been blind and diabetic for 2 years and right out of the blue he got bloated. I went here at 11 PM at night and we were greeted by the sweetest girl Tara who was very pleasant and put us all at ease. She looked at bus and was immediately concerned and took him back for an IV. While waiting for the vet she asked if we wanted to visit him which put us more at ease once again someone that loves their job and has so much compassion is hard to find. Then comes Dr Fitzgerald with the bad news buster was a very sick boy and I had to make that decision that no pet owner ever wants to make. I gave Buster the best life I could and kept him alive as long as I could to the point I had to say you can't be selfish its about quality of life. Dr Fitzgerald was so compassionate and caring and gave me all the time I needed to decide and spend time with my boy until it was time for me to say goodbye. You guys are unbelievable and I thank you from the bottom of my heart as you helped me make the right decision without knowing you did. Love to All the DuBois.

I am always satisfied with the service here. No matter the hour, someone always answers my emergency calls. I'm on my 5th hamster and all 5 were patients here. Some visits were simple wellness checkups, and others were emergency. They have doctors who treat exotic animals, like my hamsters. And my emotional state was treated equally to cat and dog owners. With the combined care, my hamsters live for 3.5 years. One had to be treated for arthritis due to aging. I am 100% happy with the facility and staff.

Fantastic staff! Had an emergency with my Maltipoo on a Saturday (respiratory) and they fit me in, were up front about the emergency fees, once in the vet was very quick to diagnose and recommend testing which were conclusive and quick. I left there with a sense of direction for care and follow up testing for my little guy. They were very professional, quick and I am very happy with the results. I didn't have to spend more money and time than I needed to on unnecessary testing etc. The veterinarian broke down the medications, their uses, the testing and x-rays and explained what was going on so I understood. They were patient and thorough. I look forward to having them look after my little guy in the future.

I cannot say enough good things about this office! We brought our cat to another emergency center on 8/1. She was losing weight, not eating, and when she went to jump on the fridge and fell off we knew we had to bring her in. They performed an X-ray, ultrasound, bloodwork, etc. She was there until 8/3. They called to say she needed surgery but had no surgeons for 5 days and it needed to be now. We called around and Bolton was the only one who would take her (sedated already). She had surgery that day and had a foreign body removed. Her liver wasn’t functioning properly and a feeding tube was placed. They performed a blood transfusion on her on 8/7 and it didn’t do much. She wasn’t getting better only worse. A liver biopsy confirmed it was fatty liver disease. They did another blood transfusion 8/9. She started to get better, eating a little on her own, meowing, etc. The entire time she was in their care we were in communication with the vet (they reached out to us). Every step of the way. They would call and talk about a different case they looked at to learn more on her. We visited her 3 times during this time. On 8/11 we got the call that she could come home. We felt that she was received the best care possible and could not be more thankful to the doctors and techs that helped around the clock for a week to get our girl home! Would highly recommend to anyone.

I love the care my pets get. I've had to make some tough decisions with my senior pets this year and they've been there to help. If there is an emergency they never turn you away due to being busy. Our elderly dog took a tumble while he was trying to go up the stairs and tore off a nail, which bled like crazy. We called Bolton vet at 11PM, drove down and they took him right away. The staff is all very nice and compassionate! I brought my VERY sick ferret here on Monday when NO WHERE else would take him and so far he is doing so much better. The exotics doctor working that night had a full schedule but still allowed me to bring my Slinky in. The Dr. we saw was courteous and knew what she was doing, quickly and easily diagnosing him and prescribing him medication. We had to rush our 2 1/2 day old Chinchilla to them for a prolapsed intestine. They operated on her and she did fine but it was a congenital disorder and she passed. But they did everything in their power to save her and were absolutely wonderful on keeping us posted on her condition and updates. Exotic animal hospitals are hard to find but we were more than satisfied with the care our little girl got here and I would highly recommend them to anyone that has exotic pets. They went above and beyond in making the care affordable for us and we are deeply grateful as we love our chinchillas. I ended up here in the middle of the night with my cat, Jasper with a UT block. Staff and vet were all courteous and kind, and took wonderful care of my baby boy. It wasn't the first time he blocked, so I know the drill unfortunately. Jasper had been sneaking into the dog food while is what caused the block. (Dog food is now closely monitored and locked away for jaspers safety). They treated him and got him back to full health in no time. They also have reasonable prices. After working at a vet clinic I can usually tell when places overly hype their prices, which happens too often. People also don't tend to realize the actual cost of healthcare. Second time I ended up here, I had found an older dog wandering the street alone with no owner. It was around 10pm at night. Obviously no shelters were open, and I couldn't take the poor guy home as I was worried my overexcited dog might hurt the old dog. I drove to Bolton veterinary hospital and was able to drop him off there with my contact info(I was worried the old dog might end up in a shelter and that was the last thing I wanted for him). The staff found the old dogs owners the next day, and let me know that the dog was back home! This place is a good thirty minute drive from me, so I tend to only use it as an emergency clinic. However if I lived closer I would probably have this as my regular veterinarian.

They housed they free of charge for a week, this is a wonderful program that they offer that was started by the founder Alan Leventhal. Then when the week was up the wonderful staff fostered my animals until I could find suitable housing for all of us. I couldn’t love this place more! Wonderful group of humans!

They have been nothing but helpful for the past 6 years I have been taking my pets to them. They always have appointments and when there is a true emergency they are there and willing to work with us to find out what is wrong. We have a very anxious self injuring dog. The regular vet recommended behavioral therapy for the dog, and the behaviorist worked closely with the vet to combine medication and training to decrease obsessive compulsive behaviors with our dog. This place is great. My hedgehog was not eating or drinking for two days so I was very concerned, called, and was in there an hour later. Dr Zelinsky was wonderful and knew what she was talking about. She gave me as many tips and tricks as she could to help my hedgie. My hedgie luckily did not need medicine or treatment but she was sedated to trim her nails and she was back to her normal self less than an hour later (the drive was 45 minutes for me so she slept the entire way home)

Our beloved puggle had a mystery illness and went through two regular vets who both passed him along due to the severity of his condition. He was throwing up and having accidents, suddenly lost half his body weight and was alternating between acting like he was drunk and being completely listless. He had hypothyroidism diagnosed long before we adopted him and it brought along quite a few ill effects; due to the severity of his condition we naturally assumed it was the aggressor. His condition declined quickly and he stopped even lifting his own head, we weren't sure he would survivelong enough to seek help but we loaded him up and drove in to last vet, the truly awesome Dr Benjamin that agreed to help despite the impending storm. He had called ahead for us and stayed in contact with them and with us while we barreled through a major snowstorm from Ellington to the Bolton clinic. We didn't need to wait, they took him right in much like a people ER. The Dr we first (and primarily) saw was a young woman, J. Fitzgerald, who was as good with calming us as she was with our little guy. The staff got him in and stable, admitted him and took fabulous care. He was there i believe around a week and a half. During that time, we got daily progress reports and were allowed to call any time to check up. The entire staff was truly extraordinary, going above and beyond at every turn. A couple trips out there i couldn't find a sitter for my 3 year old, and though i dreaded bringing her here and the looks i might have gotten, but to my surprise they never once batted an eye at her. They allowed our little guy to be as close to people as possible (he's naturally not a runner, jumper, sleep=everything) and gave him lots of love and affection, and even joked that he was the new mascot. That right there made me fall in love. When we finally were able to pick him up, we found he was severely diabetic with such a high blood sugar level it is a miracle he survived as long as he did. Over the next few weeks we brought him back in so they could keep checking and readjusting his insulin until his number was reasonable, and from then we started going to the corner clinic. They went above and beyond with him, gave amazing advice, even showed us twice the proper way to give him his insulin shot. They answered every question thoroughly, and no matter how silly the question was, they treated it like it was important. He even had a really BIG accident in the lobby and the front desk employee laughed and cleaned it up, wouldn't even let me help, reassuring me it was not a big deal and happens all the time. That right there was so appreciated! They got him on a diet plan with variety and attention paid to his age, breed, size, The diabetes, his arthritis, The hypothyroidism, you name it the vet considered it. Dr Fitzgerald, she is truly an extraordinary person. Smart, with patience and kindness extended to people as well as animal like no one else. She is a blessing. Lots of tears and tons of anxiety with a few laughs in between, and everyone here did their very best with us and i am forever grateful. We get to keep big boy with us longer and he is more active than he had ever been. He has since unfortunately gone blind, but that was a pre-existing problem, the end results of doggy glaucoma that has started before we adopted him 6 years ago (glad it took that long to happen). On a side note, the building is immaculate and modern, the facility has a lot of attention to detail (a path was even painstakingly carved out in 3 feet of snow to get to the poo stations!) And above all else, the prices are really, really low!

The service and care are far beyond my expectations. One pet of ours was treated after a serious injury. She was nearly gone when we brought her to the clinic, but the staff did everything in their power to revive her and were extremely supportive when she passed away. Another pet of ours went there for routine surgery recently, and everyone was so kind and professional, and the procedure went very smoothly and healed well. The staff there were very helpful in finding an appointment we could attend, and were very understanding of our needs. The care they have provided my pets over the years has been adequate - I've never needed them for anything other than routine vaccinations and spaying and neutering. The staff however (excluding Dr. Bishop) could all use an attitude adjustment. We're traveling internationally and I was told I had to use a pet travel agent if their office was to be a part of it because the paperwork is complicated when I explained I deal with complicated paperwork matters everyday I was told that travel paperwork is more complicated than what a "layperson" would deal with - I was very insulted. So I called their pet travel agent, who is just some lady named Barbara and she told me she wouldn't handle my case (the paperwork is not that complicated). So I found another Veterinarian who was happy to help me (Fenton River) and wasn't scared of paperwork. When I had to make a couple of calls just to get a copy of my pets medical records I was asked each time in a surly voice if I was using a pet travel agent -- which I responded each time that their recommended agent wouldn't help me and I begrudgingly got the requested information - in dribs and drabs after having to call back several times to let them know I wasn't sent everything I asked for - I even offered to pay for the records and their time to assist me with the information. Long story short, they give good care but don't expect good attitudes from the staff. If you're looking, go to Fenton River Vet - I wish I had know about them sooner.

Two years ago my basenji had gotten hit by a car, I called 911 and they directed me here. I called while on my way, when we got there the staff was waiting and rushed my dog in. They took amazing care of her and today she is happy and healthy. Just 2 days ago she had a tick on her nose but i couldn't get it out....I brought her here at 11pm and they discovered it wasn't a tick but a small inflamation that was of no major concern. The staff was gracious and caring and didn't charge me anything (I tried to pay but they refused, so I donated $ to them for charity work or their choice) I can't say enough great things and I hope people will consider this review before making any assumptions.

I have had nothing but good experiences bringing my cats to Bolton Vet. I had a particularly difficult diagnosis for one of my cats. He had a rare case (in cats) of EPI. Dr. Griswold was able to determine this diagnosis. I also recently had to euthanize one of my cats, and Dr. Zyra kindly let me bring him outside so he could go peacefully and gently. I also hesitated when a very young doctor treated a new kitten, but she proved to be very competent (and very caring when I lost a cat.) Yes, they are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. And I've never had a problem getting an appointment right away (so I don't know what some of these people are talking about....).

I have been bringing my dogs & cats here for 20 years, always had positive experiences, they are very professional, helpful, & knowledgeable. I had a cat who got outside & got injured in a fight with local feral cats, he ended up with severe medical conditions requiring a series of operations. They were helpful in keeping the surgery costs reasonable while giving as much care as they could. Sadly his condition deteriorated to where he did not survive but they did their best. They have the "corner clinic' on the other side of the chainsaw store which is a calmer environment for cats. My only complaint about the main facility is the checkout area is very small & cramped, there is often a queue of customers with their pets waiting in the narrow hallway. This is very stressful on cats & small dogs when over-eager large dogs are freaking out/ bouncing off the walls - usually their owner is embarrassed about this as well - but it's in any dog's nature to be over-stimulated by a visit to the vet, likewise cats in a carrier are pretty traumatized already, they don't need to be scared any more. They really need a renovation to add another room to that end of the facility, or else reverse the flow & use the waiting room as a checkout facility, the waiting room is hardly ever that crowded (which is a good thing) but has more than ample seats & counter space.

If I could request one change, it would be to publish the work emails of the docs only because it can get a little overwhelming when trying to figure out who to contact. However, this is mainly my issue as I find phone conversations overwhelming and I find it easier to communication through email. The facility includes a 24 hour emergency hospital - so if you're looking for a vet, I would definitely check these guys out.

Sadly, I had an emergency and had to have my dog put down. However, this hospital figured out that my dog had cancer within 15 minutes. She was on a health plan with another clinic connected to a pet store, which apparently could not figure this out. It was a painful visit for me, but I'm thankful for the rapid diagnosis so that my dog would not suffer. $$$$, be prepared, but they accept care credit.

My cat molly recently had to be put down due to kidney failure after battling thyroid for so long Molly had DR Fitzgerald and she is the best vet I have ever had the pleasure to work, she made me feel like I didn't have to suffer alone I could tell the decision hurt her as much as it did me and this is a doctor that puts the animal first at all cost after going through this last night I would vow my life on review and stand by it forever, although my other cats are young and not in the same situation to have constant visits they will be returning to Dr Fitzgerald indefinitely and will always have my trust in every decision that comes for my cats. I think all vets out there could take a lesson from this doctor I've been through many vets in my day with molly and I can say that majority of them are all about money and although this is a business and I can appreciate that wete talking about a loved one and a life not a product from a store the animal should always come first, thank you for putting her first.

My 2 year old female pitbull managed to knock a bowl off the counter and consume the few grapes it was holding at the time. Grapes and raisins are HIGHLY toxic to dogs, and can oftentimes lead to kidney failure if ingested and untreated. When I called Bolton for advice, I was given quick, knowledgeable advice from a comforting professional. Within 20 minutes, every grape my dog had eaten was brought back up and her life was potentially saved thanks to the wonderful people I spoke with. I honestly can't even articulate the words to describe my love and appreciation for the doctors and staff here, especially Dr. Paul Badeau. We rushed our ferret Bear into surgery at another vet office and we were then referred here for follow up emergency care. With our little guy's serious condition and complications, his chances of recovery were not promising. Dr. Badeau spent a very long time with us, explaining our options, the chances of recovery and every other question we had. We were given all the time and information we needed to make the best decision for Bear, which to our deep sadness, was to let him go. The staff let us take Bear into a room and spend all the time we wanted with him before we said goodbye. Dr. Badeau let us hold him while he gently passed away. For such a horribly sad moment in our lives, the staff here made it as bearable as it could be. They even took a clipping of his fur, took a prints of his paws, made a cast of his paw & gave us the blanket he slept with while there. When we went to collect his ashes, we found that a big portion of our bill had been paid for with their Memorial Fund. Truly, this took such good care of us, we are forever grateful that Bear's last moments were spent with such kindness and care. Thank you.
