They were able to get my pup in right away. They listen to my concerns. Super nice to my pup and me. Explain in detail what is going on with my pet and how to treat as well as what other things to look for. They do not try to sell you stuff that you don't need. Up front with all costs, they recommend what would be good for your pet but you decide what you can do or can't do. Really like all the docs and employees. Have not had a bad experience yet!!

We have taken a multitude of our beloved pets to Creature Comforts throughout the years, and still do. It's hard to fully articulate the level of care these wonderful people provide. The compassion, integrity, dignity, knowledge and above all else, LOVE they give you and your fur babies is absolutely second-to-none. We recently had an in-home euthanasia care provided to our precious, elderly cat suffering from bladder cancer. The trip to the vet would have been too much for her to handle. The vet, and her tech came to our home and provided the most professional, AND comforting experience that could ever be asked of them during such an emotional time. Our family loves EVERYONE at Creature Comforts, as they love and care for our pets as if they were their own.

When my 1 year old kitten, Elijah, was hit by a car the staff jumped into action when we brought her in. They cared for her immensely and showed great love for her. They gave us the x-rays and explained everything they had to do in detail. While Elijah was recovering here for two weeks they graciously put up with me and my family taking turns visiting her twice a day everyday. They are so compassionate for not only pets, but their people too. When we were allowed to take Elijah home they made sure to explain home care and we're very thorough.

I went to Creature Comforts the first time as an emergency, and they got my dog in immediately and took amazing care of her. Since, they are my pup’s vet of choice, we’ve been back both urgently and with appointments, and they are always accommodating and so caring of her. They are professional, communicate even more than expected to make sure I’m comfortable with the treatments, and even checked in several days after her care to make sure she was doing well. My dog went into the clinic with an unexpected illness after his vet was out of town. Creature Comforts fit him into their schedule and gave him the best treatment possible. The vet called with updates and had him out within just a few hours. All of the staff was so friendly. We just moved to the area and needed to find a vet pretty quickly as our dog has allergies. They were able to get us in the next day. At the appointment they had already read all the previous records on my dog that I sent to them. They listen to what I had to say and did great at hearing me, taking care of my pooch, and keeping the cost down as much as possible. They are very friendly and kind! We had also used this vet a few years ago for a different puppy. We got her in Iowa but lived out of state at the time. The puppy ended up having parvo we rushed her to this vet. They did a great job assisting us in our next steps of care for our puppy! I would highly recommend this vets office to anyone in the area!

All the staff there are super friendly. Will highly recommend. With any procedure being done it can be costly, my Leo had an emergency surgery and they were able to compromise and placed my dogs heath as a priority. New to town made them my primary veterinarian. Amazing and caring team!!

Best veterinary clinic ever!!! Everyone is so kind, patient, companionate, knowledgeable, and you can tell they absolutely love all animals! They gave my pup so much love and care when she was spayed and went the extra mile to make sure her recovery would be successful :) Plus we were amazed at how affordable it was compared to local clinics! I drive an hour to go to this clinic because it's 100% worth it!

My dog snagged his nail and broke it off to the root on a weekend. Blood everywhere, I was panicked, not a good situation. Our regular vet was closed, but luckily Creature Comforts is open everyday. They had a full schedule, but still made time to get my dog treated. They gave my dog sedatives (he's extremely skittish at vets), dressed the wound, wrapped the paw really well, and sent us home with a week supply of medicine; all for $287. Most vets won't even accept an emergency visit without charging about $100 just to see the doc. You can bet I'll be using Creature Comforts if I ever have an emergency again.

Such a great experience for our Boxer that needed an urgent care vet visit on a Saturday! They explained everything in great detail and got us in in right away and didn't charge an exorbitant fee like another vet clinic... they were fast and reasonably priced! Highly highly recommend!! We live in Des Moines but would definitely travel to Ankeny because of the level of service we received!

My dog Biscuit got a large gash on his back running under a trailer after a rabbit, and my regular vet was unable to close the large wound. So they called Creature Comforts, who was able to quickly get me in, and didn't charge emergency vet prices, and took less than 2 hours to do the procedure! This place is top notch. We have four dogs including two hunting dogs. Being hunting dogs injuries are just a common part of it. As much as you try to prevent injuries they do happen. They always provide the best care to my dogs and get them back out to the field as quick as possible. You can tell they truly love what they do. I'm also honored to have the title of one of the weirdest injuries one of the vets has seen. Yes I'm talking about the impaled dog (stick in throat). They are a little pricier then some of the vets around town but like anything, you get what you pay for and I for one will pay the extra to make sure I get the most life out of my dogs, hunting companions, and family members. Thanks for everything you all do. You truly are appreciated by me.

3-7-2022 We had to find a vet in the Ankeny area on a Sunday. Creature Comforts was about the only option that had an available appointment. We were nervous taking our pet to a new place but we didn’t have a choice with our cat being so sick. From the minute we talked on the phone they were completely empathetic and so sweet and nice! Our pet it still currently there and they’ve taken the best care of her than we could have hoped for. They give you so many updates and are so nice and easy to talk to about anything. They never cared how many questions we had, they answered all of them with such care. We would definitely recommend this vet to anyone! Thank you Creature Comfort and staff for everything!!

It was quite the experience taking my pet to the vet during Covid. At first I wasn't really keen on how they did it. My pet went in, I stayed outside. Therefore, If I hadn't TOTALLY TRUSTED the workings of this clinic/hospital, I would have waited and come back at a later date. Dr. Shivers and Dr. Abbe are most personable and very informative as to what was accomplished with my pet while they had him inside for his appointment. I will look forward to the day we can again go in with our pets, but right now we'll go with the flow. Thank you to all the people at the clinic.

Creature Comforts has provided care to my dog for the past 11 years and the staff who work there are wonderful. We lost our Charlie boy the week before Christmas due to an abdominal tumor and the compassion/care we were shown as they gave us options was remarkable. I noticed one of my cats hadn’t been doing too well over a couple of days, so I called on a Sunday afternoon to get an appointment for later in the week since not a lot of places were open oh but, I’m a glad they weren’t because this place was outstanding. When I told them what was going on with my cat she insisted that same day was possible for my poor cat. I was shocked that they were able to see him same day, considering it was day after holiday and a Sunday. I took the chance, even if it meant I might have to wait a little longer, I totally understood. I was able to dropped him off quickly and within a couple hours I got an update call, which I really appreciated, and a couple hours after that they called for a final update and that he was ready to go home. During both those calls they did update me on prices accordingly so I didn’t have to worry when I got there. They explained everything very well for me to understand what was wrong with him, and the medication with it, and they did sound concerned for him and happy to help thought out the calls, my cat was happy to be home feeling better and I was happy to see him sleeping peacefully again. I greatly appreciate everyone that works there, and thank them for their kindness. In the future I will take my other 2 cats to this place when in need. :)

The team at Creature Comforts was so warm and welcoming to me and my dog. We were worried about his health and were able to get in for an urgent care appointment the same day, even though it was a Sunday. They were very up-front with me about pricing and there was never a question that my dog would receive the best care possible. The staff are taking COVID precautions very seriously, with masks required, carside drop-off and pickup recommended, and health screening questions, and I felt very safe with them. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs urgent or ongoing veterinary care.

Wonderful service after being to two terrible vet clinics in a row! I highly recommend going to this clinic! They are well mannered and know what they’re doing. The reason they’re 4 stars instead of 5 is due to their prices. They are much more expensive compared to other clinics, but their service is worth it. I found it interesting that they don’t provide referral discounts, but they don’t really need it I suppose. ;)

We had to put one of our cats down. The staff here were so friendly and respectful during our visit. It is so hard saying goodbye, but they made it as easy and comforting on us as possible. I plan to use them from now on as a regular vet for my other animals.

I called for an emergency appointment for my 12 1/2 year old dog on a Sunday morning and had a 6:00 PM appointment. When my son walked in with my dog we realized very quickly that we could not wait till 6 o'clock and they found a space for her right away. Dr. Alex Miller and the young woman vet tech ( I wish I could remember her name ) were so kind and gentle and compassionate to my dog. After x-rays and an exam the news was pretty devastating and they walked us through numerous options. We chose painkillers and ibuprofen as the first course but by the middle of the night Sunday we knew she was not going to make it. We took her in Monday morning and the staff there were so compassionate while my son held her while they put her to sleep. They are taking paw prints and mailing them to us as a remembrance which I think is an amazing gift for us. I thank them from the bottom of my heart for being so kind and gentle with her.

I really enjoyed Dr. Miller and his staff! Very professional and responsive to my dog. A+++ for the vet and staff. I enjoyed him thoroughly! The only reason it’s a 4 instead of a 5 is solely the price. $62 to walk in the door is steep especially for just to have my dog weighed and looked at (didn’t really seem like a wellness check like I thought it’d be…) plus the other services ran me $110 which is a lot for just asking for some eye drops (I needed a vet Rx or I would have ordered them myself.) and making sure his eye wasn’t infected. I understand quality and convenience come with a price but I think I will look for my normal veterinarian needs somewhere else if it is that expensive every time you walk in the door. I’d say if it isn’t a dire situation small clinics are much more cost effective then mass corporate clinics. This is just my humble opinion. I would like to reiterate Dr. Miller was excellent and my cons are not towards him at all. Wonderful guy who truly cares for animals of all ages and types. Thank you guys for taking care of my doggo today!

Every veterinarian we've worked with over the past year has given the best care possible to our pets. We've used routine wellness and emergency care from this facility and couldn't be happier with the outcomes. I appreciate their stepwise approach to care, the efficiency of their curbside dropoff and pickup procedures, and the time they take to make sense of a treatment plan and its risks. After an accident, they took our pet immediately for an evaluation and to tend to her wounds. It is reassuring to have a full vet hospital with such talented people caring for our animals, and we won't go anywhere else.

Went to 2 other vets in Des Moines and they charged crazy prices just to not be able to figure out what was wrong with our cat. We thought we were going to have to put her down before visiting creature comforts. In a few days they had her back to her old self and for an extremely reasonable price. The staff kept in constant contact with us and were upfront with what they were doing and how much it would cost. They were very comforting and understanding and took great care of Millie. We first discovered this vet clinic about 8 years ago when our first kitty had a little accident. Creature comforts came thru not only for my kiddo but for us as well. This clinic alone saved the life of my other kiddo Alex we are a family of 8 cats and they are always kind and helpful to both us and the kitty's. Wonderful and caring staff. We had to make an emergency visit and they were so helpful in getting us in right away. Unfortunately our sweet boy Henry was very ill and after weighing all the options, we did what was best for our beloved boy and let him cross the rainbow bridge. Let me start by saying what a great clinic Creature Comforts is. I took my pregnant Golden Retriever in for X-rays and they took great care of her. The X-rays came back with 9 puppies! It genuinely felt like they cared when they sent over the X-rays to me and wanted to see pictures after they were born. Honey had 9 healthy happy puppies on 2/19. ❤️ Thank you Creature comforts!

Experienced vets who care about your pet, and your wallet. They won't try to sell you the most expensive product, and they offer plenty of payment arrangements if you qualify. They're knowledgeable, and will explain anything you don't understand in a way that you can understand. My dog Mojo likes going here, because he gets plenty of treats, love, and great care.

I called Sunday evening and they were quick to make an appointment for my dog for 8:20 Monday morning. During the appointment, Dr. Herriott determined my dog would need surgery and scheduled it immediately for that day. Before the surgery, she called to tell me what my dog’s test results were and about what needed to be done for my dog. After surgery she called to let me know how the surgery went and what was done in detail. The doctor called to let me know a time to pick up my dog and explained the medications she would need to take. Upon picking up my dog up, Everything was explained again and I was told I could call at any time if I had any questions. On Tuesday I I was contacted to make sure my dog was not experiencing any problems.

We have been using Creature Comforts for our dog for the past 3 years. We have never had a bad experience while there. All of their doctors are very good with our dog and very, very informative. They are not pushy at all which I appreciate a lot. The clinic is very clean and the front office staff always know who we are when we walk in. I would say prices are fairly average compared to other places- maybe slightly higher but the quality is much better. We had to use them last year for an emergency procedure for our dog; she almost died. I am convinced she would have had we brought her anywhere else. They took such great care of our dog for the seven days she was hospitalized. They even called to check on her after we brought her home. They were even willing to see a stray cat at the last minute that we found severely abused and were able to help us find options that did not require us to spend any money. Even now we are dealing with a severe medical situation with our dog and they are very compassionate. The doctors have been calling us almost everyday to check on her and what her progress is and are very supportive of us as pet parents. We will never use another vet clinic.

I've been a customer since 2009. I have found the entire staff to be professional, kind and caring. When my dog was gravely ill, I didn't want to bring her into the office to have her put down because it often times gave her anxiety. I called late in the afternoon and Dr. Olson and a tech were at my house is less than an hour. I will always be grateful for the compassion they showed. They made an extremely sad and difficult situation, just a little bit easier to bear. This is a picture from the last night we had with her.

I’ve seen several of the doctors, and they all do a great job. The support staff is amazing as well; they are always upbeat and helpful. Side note: can you really beat the hours of this place? I don’t normally come to this vet unless it’s after 5 or a weekend since they’re one of the only ones open, but the couple times i have had to come they’ve been wonderful. I’ve only come for last minute emergencies (one dog i thought had bloat, the other time another one of my dogs had very pale gums & couldn’t control his bladder/bowels) and both times they got me in right away and cared for my pups. they’re very nice and professional, clearly love dogs, and very helpful. I would even make this my normal vet office if i wasn’t moving soon. thank you guys so much for helping Lola and Fin!

We love that Creature Comforts has long hours and allows walk-ins (we still call ahead). Our pups always have emergencies (Collapsed lung with pneumonia, congestive heart failure, nasty UTI, etc) when our primary veterinarian office is closed. The staff at Creature Comforts always welcome us and provide quick diagnosis with a treatment plan. An added bonus is that the accept Care Credit allowing us to not worry about the financial side of care.

My 1 year old just had her annual shots and exam today. I was very impressed with the friendliness and professionalism shown by all of the staff from the receptionist, vet techs, and doctor. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and the vet techs and doctor were willing to answer my questions and were very thorough with her exam- explaining everything along the way. Our Great Pyrenees had a large growth on her side that needed to be tested and removed. Creature Comforts staff were patient with us, handled our dog with love and provided all possible costs up front. They even provided support over the phone prior to seeing us when other clinics would not. Surgery went very well while keeping costs very manageable. I've had a different vet every time I've gone in which is a little off putting because I like to find someone I trust to take care of me or my animals and I've never had the same person twice. The front desk staff are nice. I've generally had good service but again unable to build that relationship with my vet because I've had different ones each time which then it's hard to know how well they know the animals and what not. If you don't have a vet yet for any of your animals I would still recommend but I will most likely be taking mine to a vet that's further away that I've already established a relationship with because of other pets.

He has been seen by each 1 of the vets( the owner twice) ,all are very nice. they're very thorough but not charging you for or putting your pet through unnecessary testing and procedures. all of the staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable and are all about the animals. My puppy is afraid of being examined on tables so they have marked his chart and each time we go in they do the full examination on the floor at his level so that he is not in fear.Their hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. everyday of the week and on our last visit they were happy to stay late so we could bring our sick pup in. I called them at 7:30pm, did not get there until 8 when they should have been closing, and we were treated as if we were the first patient of the day. VERY VERY VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!!

My dog was very uncomfortable early on Sunday morning and not eating. I took him to PetSmart that day for a nail trim as planned, and the groomer told me she discovered an abscess on him. I was not familiar with what emergency options were available to me close by. She suggested Creature Comforts, as they are open on Sundays. I went in and asked if they could see us and they took us into a room right away. I was told that 2 vets were on duty and 1 was in surgery, so I might have to wait a little while. I only waited about 15 minutes, though. The doctor confirmed that my dog did have an abscess that needed to be drained and said they could take him back and get started on it right away. When the doctor showed me the treatment plan cost, I was *shocked* by what I did NOT see… an emergency fee. I have had to take pets to after-hours emergency care, and it has been $125+ just to walk in the door, so it was a big sigh of relief. The treatment costs were very reasonable. They also take CareCredit as well as debit cards, etc., so that was also a plus. The doctor was very personable and took her time with us, answering all questions, making sure I understood everything, another thing that has been lacking in other urgent care pet situations. It was like we were regular patients. I got a follow-up call and had a chance to ask a couple of more questions. Again, treated like a regular patient. This was a very good experience and it is good to know if another Sunday issue arises, there is a great option available. If I lived in Ankeny, I would choose this clinic as my regular one.

I've never had a bad experience at Creature Comforts until today. My bf had taken our dog in there on Tuesday for a annual exam/ shots. He also had purchased heart worm and flea/ tick medication, not knowing I had also purchased flea/tick medication somewhere else. Today, Thursday.. I went back to return the flea/tick medication. The girl up front was very snobby and told me they don't usually refund stuff like that because it is considered a prescribed medication. Mind you, I had not opened the medication nor had it been very long since it was purchased. I understand its a medication but, I was not aware it was a prescription beings you can purchase flea medicine just about anywhere. When I nicely told the lady that it may be important to let patients know that its a prescription and that its non refundable. She replied with, "its common sense." She rubbed me the wrong way with her attitude. As much as I am thankful that they refunded my money, I was displeased with her snobby attitude upfront. Hopefully I won't experience that again.

When my own Vet wouldnt see my Kilo on an emergency basis, Creature Comforts told us to come right up.We did and they treated him and told us to come back if we had anymore problems and we did the next day as he wasnt eating. They brought out a plate of different foods and he did eat two of the foods so we got to go home, AFTER we got Christmas pictures taken for free! The next day they called to see if Kilo was doing ok! My vet never called back to see if Kilo was seen elsewhere. We will change vets for sure!
