Captain Jay was very accommodating when we decided that we wanted to fish at the last minute on our charter. Not only did he make us feel comfortable, he taught the teens how to fish. We cannot wait to book our next outing with Jay! He's the best!

We enjoyed ourselves so much, we booked 2 days in a row! First day was the 2 hour dolphin excursion and the next day we had Captain Jay take us out fishing. We had a great time. He knew the best spots for seeing dolphins and catching fish. We even saw a great white shark, which surprised all of us but will be something we never forget.

A must-do in Virginia Beach! We went on a dolphin/sunset cruise and couldn't have had a better evening out. The Captain did a brief safety briefing, asked if we had any thing in particular we wanted to see on the weather and we were off. The boat was clean and comfortable (bathroom on board!). We saw so many dolphins, it was just amazing. Watching the sunset from the water was an incredible experience, then the Captain kept us out long enough for us to see the beautiful lights on the Lesner bridge and harbor. What a fantastic experience. I highly recommend and we will be back!

We had a wonderful time viewing dolphins for 2 hours on a Sunday. Captain Jay (ex Navy) is very good at what he does - well navigated, super humble, and a fun guy to talk to. As we were riding out past the lighthouse, we were greeted also by the excursions rigid inflatable boa that is part of the sister business. Absolutely cool to watch the RIB in action, and great knowing about the history of the dolphins in this journey. We'll be back in the future!

My husband and I went on a whale watching tour and had an excellent time. We saw a juvenile whale, tons of dolphins, and a seal. I would totally recommend this company and I can’t wait to go again!

Our group had a fantastic time out on the water with First Landing Charters! Wendell and Jay waste no time getting you right to the action and ensuring you have a successful fish! On this outing, we caught many sea bass, Spanish mackerel, and trigger fish! Highly recommended!

Beautiful day and nice boat. There was no mate on the boat - apparently good help is hard to find. It was just us and the captain, so I ended up doing quite a bit of work as a substitute first mate. I was OK doing the work, but it wasn't what I signed up for. Also wanted to include bottom fishing as part of the trip, but the captain - a very nice guy - was determined to find us a cobia. I appreciate his determination, but we spent only 10 minutes bottom fishing. All day and no fish. As we got ready to head home, we came upon a bait ball and reeled in a few fish. We caught a few blues, it was exciting and all, but there was no first mate to help out, change tackle, etc. It was frustrating.

Great trip with Captain Jay. He's a local and spent most of his life here. He knows where to go and he knows what to do for fun. We went fishing - had a blast, but he also does dolphin seeing. I chartered him a couple of years ago and we spent an hour watching a whale. It was awesome. Told me he is getting ready to start a SpecOps themed adventure package that sounds awesome, especially considering he works close to the Navy's master jet base, SEALs facilities, and other military installations. Can't go wrong with First Landing Charters.

My mom and I were visiting my Aunt on vacation and we booked a last minute Deep Sea Fishing Trip the night before we went with Captain Jay and we couldn't be happier! The weather was perfect! Captain Jay and his Mate were very knowledgeable of the area, having spent much of his life here. Captain Jay's boat is very clean and comfortable. They truly make it an incredible experience, from Teaching to Knowledge to Fun, it was definitely a Blast and a memorable experience! They knew all of the Great spots and we Caught well over a dozen fish! If you get the chance to charter with him and his mate you definitely should.

One of the best experiences I've had on the east coast. Captain Jay is awesome, and experience shows. We did a dolphin tour with my daughter's one day, and liked the captain so much we did a fishing charter the next. Caught some awesome cobia, and even ran into a great white. Couldn't have asked for better.

Excellent service. In our case we used the Charter to spread my sister's ashes on the Atlantic which was her final wish. Captain Jay was very respectful. He stopped the boat when we spotted a pod of dolphins and gave us a little information about the dolphins. Everything was perfect we could not have asked for more.

In short, we had a blast!!! Capt. Jay put 4 cobias and 9 spanish mackerels on the boat. I would definately book again with First Landing Charters for the next trip. Boat was in great shape, equipment was new, plenty of bait and lures, and weather could not have been any better. I got to learn a lot about how to fish for both species we caught and next time I go out on my boat I know what to do to be successful. I would definitely recomend these guys to anyone that want to catch some fish and have a good time.

Captain Jay took my family out for a sunset dolphin watch cruise and it was so wonderful!!! The boat is clean and comfortable, and Jay was so accommodating and knowledgeable, making sure we all had a great time. We saw lots of dolphin and enjoyed a relaxing time on the water. We can’t wait to do it again. If you’re looking for something fun to do, for any age, I highly recommend a trip with First Landing Charters!

Captain Jay Leach and Captain Dominic are first class and go out or their way, above and beyond to guarantee you a wonderful memorable time. Capt. Dom. took us for a dolphin watching leisure cruise in the Bay. Saw lots of Dolphins playing up close. Could not have had a better time. Thank you Gentlemen .

My wife and I booked a last minute sunset cruise with Captain Jay and we couldn't be happier! It was a breeze to book and the weather was perfect! Captain Jay is very knowledgeable of the area, having spent much of his life here. He took us just offshore to where a large pod of dolphins were hunting and jumping out of the water. Captain Jay's boat is very clean and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to charter with him again!

The absolute best time ever, Matt was the best captain! My kids had the time of their lives, thanks Matt and everyone there for the amazing experience. If your close to Virginia Beach don’t do the tour groups go with first landing the private tour is way better!

Had a great time on a dolphin tour with Captain Jay. He’s extremely knowledgeable about the area & history. Saw a lot of dolphins & a beautiful sunset too! One of our group had a bit of nausea and Captain Jay could not have been more accommodating & understanding. Would highly recommend First Landing Charters!

Had a fantastic day on the water with Captain Jay and First Mate Wendell! This was a crew that was obviously very knowledgeable, professional, and capable in all aspects of our fishing trip. My 13-year-old son had a blast! This was the highlight of our trip, and we're already looking forward to our next visit to Virginia Beach so we can go fishing with the guys at First Landing Charters!

We had an amazing day today with Captain Dom. We were traveling on a family vacation from Chicago. Captain Dom took us on a great 4-hour tour that included a trip along the beach, swimming in the bay and he was even gracious enough to stop at a dock so we could get more drinks. This was the best experience that i have ever had. Captain Gorge was so helpful and fun. He let my children even sit in the captain seat with him teaching them about the boat sonar and everything my children had such a good time as well as my husband and mother in law we were even able to take ourdog on the boat with us. It was something I will never forget and i recommend that anyone and everyoneto experience it. On top of all that he made for sure we see dolphins and goats close to them as we could almost close enough to touch the it was so fun and relaxing. Captain Jay with First Landing Charters is the absolute best in every category! My (now) fiancé contacted captain Jay to help him plan a proposal to me on his boat (I will be posting pictures on Yelp, TripAdvisor, etc.)!! The proposal went flawlessly, only with the help of captain Jay. His charter is amazing - spacious and spotless! He’a a true captain... knows the water better than anyone that we’ve ever met, he’s cautious and courteous, and even had refreshments for us!! I can’t say enough about captain Jay... my fiancé and I will be making annual fishing/boat cruises with First Landing Charters because he made the experience so enjoyable (even aside from the proposal :) )!!

Went out wit Capt. Jay Saturday Aug 27, 2016 to the Norfolk Canyon What a great day - Capt. Jay was always on the lookout for the fish and he didn't disappoint - he put us on the fish - we ran into several schools of Dolphin fish (Dorado, Mahi Mahi)! While everyone else was on a long boat ride waiting for the sail fish, marlin, WE WERE FISHING!!!! I landed 3 and we ended up with about 10 for the day - what fun!!! Capt. Jays Sea Hunt Gamefish 30 with twin 300s cuts through the water like butter and we got out to the fishing grounds in about 2-2 1/2 hr (He averaged about 35mph- about 70 miles off shore) I can't wait to hit the Stripers (Rock Fish Bass) this Fall.
