Reviews of Bill Speidels Underground Tour

This was a very interesting tour. Our tour guide was delightful. She was so fun and energetic, answering all questions. She is a true performer, but a very honest and knowledgeable one. I would highly recommend this tour. It is a part of Seattle that not all people know about, and a part of Seattle that few people get to see. Just magnificent. Keep up the good work

Really fun tour. Had a very delightful and funny tour guide who used to be a summer counselor. Was very informative and very polite and very nice. The tour is like a total of 30 to 45 minutes with lots of stops where the tour guide explains the history of the place. Lots of stair climbing. But everything was very pleasant and paced well.

So excited we spent some time to take this tour. Fascinating and super fun! We learned so much about the streets we had been walking on had underground secrets. The haunted bar was a great plus to grab a drink after all the walking . Our guide was perfect and kept it informative as well as fun! Don’t miss this when I’m Seattle!
Aaron King
Absolutely loved this tour! So glad we picked this one. It lasted about an hour and gave us plenty of underground areas to see and take pictures at. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and funny. There was a big group with us, but it didn't affect the fun. Would definitely recommend this tour!

The tour was great but quick. The presenters were really well informed and gave a very detailed history of Seattle and the underground. After the intro presentation, they take you around to different sections of the underground accessing from different locations of downtown. I was expecting more time underground but it only had 4-5 limited small sections with a very quick walkthrough which does include a presentation in between. I can understand that not all (or more) sections of the underground would be accessible or even safe. But I was still expecting there to be more areas that we could walk through. Another thing that I would give feedback on is that every underground section tour is very quick and you barely get time to see anything or take photos properly. The presentation takes 90% of the time and then you quickly pass through sections without getting proper time to look around by yourself

This was my second time on the tour, and it was equally as great as the first time. The tour guides have so much personality and enthusiasm for their job, which was appreciated! They told a bunch of great jokes too :) My family visited from out of town and this was their favorite activity of their trip. It is equally educational as it is fun! Now every time I walk on the square glass tiles I think of what is underneath us.
Beth Lowe
Such a fun and informative tour. Our guide was funny and knowledgeable. Many pics and drawings were used to help us understand more of what it was like in Seattle before and after the fire. Well worth the time and money.
Brian Shaler
Absolutely worth the admission. Our guide, Adam, was so much fun and truly passionate about the history. My 9 year old thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. He even kept entertaining us with more stories after the tour was over. And with 2 kids in the group he was able to imply a lot and keep it PG13. A masterful performance. I learned a lot and couldn’t stop laughing at the same time.

This was such a great tour with an amazing dive into Seattle history. Tour guides were super entertaining and made the entire experience super engaging. It is a walking tour around town and it was great being able to go through the city in a personalized way.
Some of the audience members had already taken the tour numerous times and confirmed it's a different experience everytime. I will definitely do it again when I stop in Seattle and highly recommend this on your must-dos if you're visiting.

A fantastic tour of old Seattle.
The story of the history and evolution of old Seattle is an interesting one.
The tour guides are knowledgeable, funny and can tell a good story
The 75 minute tour combines walking underground and on street level.
You get to visualise where the underground routes are in relation to the street level.
The gift shop sells a number of items pertaining to the tour.
Tickets can be bought in advance and in the premises on Pioneer Square.
Definitely worth the trip.

Our guide Timothy was absolutely hilarious and such a sweet kid!
The tour was probably one of the best I’ve been to.
It had history, comedy, suspense, everything!
You learn about the settler take over the Seattle land and funding of their “new” city and about the unsung heroes that saved Seattle from itself.
Highly recommend!

Excellent if you're interested in knowing the history of Seattle. Our tour guide was so funny and his story telling was amazing. Everything you'd see here would be a really good experience for sure. The only reason I'm not giving that extra point because we as tourists need a little more time to see things. Since we have to follow the tour guide and the crowd, it's difficult to experience the beauty of this place.
Things to keep in mind:
1. Use the restroom before the tour starts because you might not wanna miss the 75 minutes tour.
2. After the tour ends, take time to go through the history in the last part (which is besides the shop).
3. Use the washroom in the end because we don't see this kind of beauty and decor these days.
4. Sky light would be the most interesting part for sure.

Went on this tour yesterday, and was amazing! The guide was funny and personable as well as knowledgeable, and it seemed like the locals had a good opinion of him as several shouted hellos along the way. The underground itself is extremely interesting and unique. 100% recommended! The only thing I would have changed is having a bit more tour-specific items in the gift shop, like historical books or photographs for sale. Otherwise, perfect!!

This was my 3rd time doing this tour over the years, as it's always fun to bring out of town guests! The guides were fun during the opening history part and our single guide was terrific through the underground. Their humor and ability to read the audience is truly what makes or breaks the experience. I liked that I could get tix ahead of time, with plenty of room on each time frame available, pretty much right up to the day. Waiting in Pioneer Square was a little anxiety inducing to our out-of-towners with the homeless population and reports of Seattle crime, but on a beautiful Saturday morning in sunny Seattle, I was loving it. It's nice that there's a souvenir shop at the end now, and a chance to tip your guide if you're so inclined.
Bring a mask because it wasn't posted on the site so that left us scrambling to find some. However, there was someone happily selling the disposable kind for $1 a piece.
There's a lot of history, with relics to prove it, on Seattle and neighboring cities during the tour and even the most minute of history buffs will enjoy this activity. I highly recommend it! Once will be enough unless your visitors are interested, but I've enjoyed each time I've gone!
Rashmi J
Adriane was just amazing!! Kept us engaged the entire time. She is hilarious and super knowledgeable. Even if you have lived in Seattle for a long time, I bet you will learn something new during this tour. 100% recommend!

My sister and I really enjoyed our tour! Only negative is I felt the group size was a bit too big for my preferences. Our guide though was funny and the tour was really informative. Lots of toilet humor, and clever about keeping sordid details in the tour while still being family friendly. We learned a lot of Seattle’s history that we wouldn’t have learned otherwise. Wish they’d provide masks for free if they’re still requiring them but the nice guy out front pointed me to a public info desk would I could get one for free.
Helen Di Domenico
I really love the hidden secrets different cities have. This is a prime example of this. You'd never know this underground place even existed if just casually walking by. It's pretty special to be able to explore this. I learnt about this underground tour while researching cool things to do in Seattle. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here!
Amanda Fink
I was visiting Seattle for the first time and this your was recommended to me by a friend. Was one of the highlights of my trip! My quirky tour guide was humorous and shared a ton of interesting info on the founding of Seattle and the history of the underground tunnels. It was a great experience and I recommend making this a top priority to work into your itinerary. It is well worth it!
AnnaSophia Servin
Absolutely awesome tour. Our guide, Rose, was wonderful! Engaging, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Well priced and perfect for a rainy day. It was one of the highlights of the weekend. Great history and wonderful stories.
Ardi Tooki
It is an ok tour! Really informative and historic. However you don’t get to see much specially not under the ground! You’ll walk into a few underground tunnels and all you’ll see is a brick room and that’s it. Most of the time you are above ground walking around and hearing about how Seattle was back in 20 century. Overall it is fine but for the price it is up to you to do it or not! I wish it was cheaper just because the group is big and you don’t walk much underground which you’ll think needs maintenance!
Ashley Kaye (HifromAshley)
Amazing information — funny and so informative.
Our group was so mixed and everyone loved it. A must do if you’re visiting or a local older or younger you’ll be amazed on how Seattle got to where it is today.
We couldn’t believe the tour was over when it ended. Time flew by!
Michael Kirby
Interesting tour combining history and humor about the "Seattle spirit". The tour guide (forgot his name) was enthusiastic and engaging. Funny stories about how the city generated funds to finance rebuilding after the fire.
Binit Banerjee
I have been wanting to do this for a really long time. It was a fun and informative experience and I got to know a lot about the city's history. Tbh, I have recommended this to anyone who has been planning a visit to Seattle so it feels good to finally have done it. I would definitely recommend it to everyone if u have the time. It is short about 75 minute's.
Jamie Vavaroutsos
This underground tour was a fantastic addition to our Seattle trip. We learned all kinds of fascinating details about the origins of Seattle. The stories were dramatic and entertaining. Our tour guide Clay was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. The amount of walking and duration of the tour was just right! Highly recommended.
Ju You
Wow 😍 Highly recommend the Seattle Underground Tour! Informative and historically interesting. Be prepared that it can be tight, crowded and hard to hear if there are a lot of people like in my tour. I liked the mix of info and scenery provided as we explored underground and while we navigated on street level to the different underground stairwells.

Big shout out to Lisa, she was our tour guide! She was an awesome story teller! We enjoyed her stories as she was very eloquent with a sufficient touch of humor. Though it would of had a perfect score if it wasn’t for the bar the was closed and the fact that we had to wait for an extra hour for the tour. The reason was that the guide didn’t show up on time. Bummer. NEVERTHELESS, it was very educational and entertaining listening to Lisa’s stories and i do recommend learning more about Seattle through the tour. thank you Lisa!
Lilia Canales-Compton
Awesome tour of Seattle underground, lots of history and humor. Be ready to go up and down stairs. We are locals and we really enjoyed to hear how Seattle was built. We visited in December on a rainy and cold day but it is part of the fun. The last part of the tour there's a gift shop, a museum, and restrooms.
Attila Szamoskozi
Great experience. Tour guide (Lisa) was humorous and informative. Great information on the history of Seattle and the underground portion was fascinating. Thanks for the dinner recommendation Lisa, Matador was fabulous!
Krista C
Our tour guide Jim was amazing and knowledgeable with a few jokes here and there. He gave a wonderful history lesson. It’s been 20 years since I’ve last done this tour and it was still amazing.
Meredith Burns
Our guide, Rose, was amazing and made the tour what it was. The tour was about 75 minutes total. 15 minute intro and then about an hour of walking around. Cool history of the city. They have an adult only tour after hours that I would check out next time.
My only complaint was tour size - I counted about 50 people in our group.
Would recommend.
Juan.prestige
Super fun experience but also very short. Our host was basically a stand up comedian! The entire group was laughing the entire time . A must see for any tourist who is visiting
Allofus Ra
Loved the tour and glad I did it but if I had one critique, it would be that we were not given enough time to stop and look around. The guide was telling a story (which was great) but we all stood and listened and then moved on when he was done. I would have liked to be able to spend a few minutes at each spot looking and taking more photos.
Callie Hernandez
We just went here yesterday and it was great! Adam was a great guide! He has a lot of funny jokes and the way he tells the history of the city keeps you interested.
Daisy
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The tour is about 75 minutes long and you’ll see into 3 underground areas. I’m giving it 3 out of 5 stars because I was under the impression that we would see a lot more than 3 areas. For nearly $60 for two tickets, it was an ok experience. It’s a good activity to kill some time.
Celene Gilliland
Lots of history, great tour guides! Definitely a must see of touristy things to do in Seattle! There's are very lots of steep steps involved just FYI
Carlos Pineda
The tour was amazing! Our tour guide was awesome! Learning about the history of Seattle and the founders was great. I highly recommend it!
Vi San Diego
We didn't know about this tour until a friend mentioned it on Facebook. It was fascinating, going 15-30 feet underground, walking Seattle's subterranean, seeing the devastating effects of the 1889 fire, the story of the reconstruction and rebuild. If you love history and don't have much time to spend, forego seeing the Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens and do this instead.. This is a MUST SEE experience when you are in Seattle!
Natalia Q
We had so much fun with this tour. I unfortunately the name of our guide but she was hilarious. We loved it so much that we want to come back for the paranormal tour!
We highly recommend this tour and remember to watch our for them rats. 😅
Lorraine Mitchell
Excellent and unusual tour led by our very knowledgeable guide - Rose. Fully recommended if you want to know the history of the city. Entertaining too.
Mark Dickerson
Adriane made this tour!! Funniest tour guide I have ever had (at least during an historic walking tour), but also shed light on Seattle's early history. You'll find out why I posted a picture of this toilet! Well worth checking out!!
Erica Dunham
This was so much fun! My husband and I went on a Saturday at 3. It was well-organized, and the other patrons were very nice and polite. The tour guide (so sorry to forget his name) was a hoot. Even being a Seattle native, I learned quite a bit of history of this amazing city (oh the toilets...!). The only thing I would have liked is if there was more underground coverage, walking-wise, but I'm sure there are some safety reasons. Overall, it was really enjoyable, the stories told were great, and it was really neat to see some of this city's past.
Sam W
A must do when in Seattle. Our tour guide was Clay and we couldn't have asked for a better guide. We laughed out loud from start to finish all while learning so much.
There wasn't a single boring moment throughout which speaks volume to the competency of Clay since all we technically did was take a long walk through a dirty and damp tunnel.
Marianne Gunther
My husband and I were delightfully surprised and fully entertained by this tour. Adam our docent proved to be brilliant, hysterically witty, funny and wonderfully flexible and kind. We want to give him 6 stars!
Steve Sanchez
So much history in an hour I feel like I know so much more about Seattle then I ever did. Bill was so enthusiastic about his narration and I definitely recommend this tour
Jordan
This tour was a blast! It was a ton of fun learning the history of Seattle and exploring part of the city that was lost to time. I think anyone history nerd or urban explorer would get a kick out of this tour!
aksunfl
Very cool tour of underground Seattle. Tour guide was amazing and it was a unique experience. 100% recommend. Only downside is that the restaurant is no longer open. Can’t get a bite to eat or anything to drink while waiting.
Diana Gibson
This is a tour you don't want to miss. Hear stories about life in Seattle in its early days, as you explore under the streets in Pioneer Square. Our guide Shane was informative and witty.
Ganeshan Jayaraman
Very well organized tour of the seattle underground area. Our host lisa was great and kept the group entertained throughout the 75 minute tour. Definitely recommend all seattle area folks to do the tour atleast once to understand the history of the city. The tour was safe enough for a 8 year old to walk around comfortably.
Melanie Leiterman
An interesting experience in Seattle to experience. The tour guide was informative. I would not recommend this tour to anyone who is unstable walking. There were slippery areas and lots of uneven ground. It wasn't an issue for my group, but it could be for others potentially. The photo is a skylight that you see on the tour.

Seattle is a vigourous metropolis and a modern port to all over the world. However, not everyone knows the past of Seattle and the secrets of more than 100 years ago hidden under the streets of the city centre.
Before entering Seattle's Underground, you should listen to the history of books and tell the context of Seattle's Underground. Seattle was originally a logging town in the west, because gold mines were discovered in northern Canada, which quickly developed into a backup base for Americans to go north to Nuggets. In 1889, a fire broke out and burned the whole city centre of Seattle to the ground. Seattle is built in low-rise areas. It is often flooded at high tide, and sewage flows back from toilets, which has serious hygiene problems. The reconstruction plan decided to raise the floor of the street by 12 feet, about one floor, so that there is room under the new street to install sewers. However, when it takes time for the government to build an elevated street, the reconstruction of the house has already begun. After the completion of the main budget street elevation project of the house, the ground floor will become a cellar, and the first floor will become a ground floor. The original local floor became Seattle's Underground and gradually became forgotten.
The entrance to Seattle's Underground is inconspicuous, and the downstaircase next to the pedestrian road. Usually, there is an iron gate locked, and the guide opens the lock and takes us down for exploration. The name Seattle's Underground is essentially just underground ruins, dilapidated doors of former shops, and garbage piled up with different ages. The tour company has installed wooden plank trails and lighting in the Underground, so it is easy to operate. Every night, there is an expedition about lights, and each person sends a flashlight to have a good atmosphere. There is also a special program supernatural group this week, which is guaranteed to hit the ghost, because it is a stunt effect. Seattle's Underground shook itself into a haunted house, and Seattle's Underground has a section of pedestrian road above its head, which is equipped with glass bricks on the ground. After more than hundreds of ultraviolet light, the glass has changed from transparent to purple and looked up. Purple light can be seen from the ground. Interestingly, before entering the dungeon, people did not know the special colour of the purple street tiles on the ground. They thought they were just decorative floor tiles and stood casually on purple bricks. After coming out of the dungeon, they knew that Seattle's Underground were under the purple bricks. After seeing the rusty glass brick window frames on the ceiling, everyone deliberately and unintentionally avoided walking on the purple bricks. I was afraid that they would penetrate the glass bricks and fall into the Underground.
The tour of Seattle's Underground takes about an hour, and the actual time underground is only halfway, because it has to go up and down between the ground, and you have to wait for the group ahead to enter. Many people say that although this is not a popular Seattle attraction, it feels very worth it after visiting!
Seattle's Underground is just under the four-week street of Pioneer Square in the old city centre. I want to visit the designated guided tour Bill Speidel's Underground Tour to buy tickets without a scout. This family. The tour group has enough people to leave every half an hour, more than an hour, half about history and half jokes, and attach equal importance to education and entertainment.
Dorothy Brinson
It was amazing tour with young lady whose name I think is Monica. She was great and loved how she relayed so much information about the beginnings of Seattle in such a fun way!
Kerry Elliott
Good tour. Tour guide was nice. Group size was too big though. If you were up the back you missed out on a few things.
Jon Peiffer
Had a fantastic time on this tour and it guide TJ was exceptional. Learned some remarkable and historical things about Seattle that we didn't know before.
Ceeasia32
We Really enjoyed ourselves, I don’t want to spoil anything for Future Visitors! I was with two teenagers so if they were interested I’m sure others will be. The Bathroom was nasty I held it the entire time I also included a picture we were the first people there so No one cleaned prior to closing I didn’t wanna touch anything. Also Everything is underground but in different spots and there is a Huge Homeless population outside the location, asking for $ and smells of Marijuana were in the air as we exited from one location to the next, we had a Full Group for the Tour people were still distant and respectful of space. Pictures and Videos can be taken/ Our guide asked that we Tell her to her face and not leave a passive- aggressive posting online but unfortunately How do you tell a grown woman that wearing Daisy Dukes and spandex was unprofessional 🤷🏼♀️each time she turned around we had to look 👀 away bc the boys felt it was inappropriate and didn’t wanna look so I do apologize I was unable to have that conversation although she was a really good guide!!
David Michalec
Great tour guides, fun tour for the whole family. If you have any interest in history. Worth the ticket price, easy walk from Pioneer Square station. If you show up early, they let you wait inside. Tour starts in the basement then takes you into the street and back underground in several sections. Tour ends in the museum/gift shop. Bring some cash to tip the tour guide, they are definitely enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Although I'm still confused if nobody died in the Seattle Fire, then how did the little girl that allegedly haunts one section die in the fire? I'm sure they would have clarified if we asked.
Laura Toney Kee
We absolutely loved our tour guide TJ. He is the best guide I've had for any tour ever. His purple robe is #1.
Leslie Jennings
Super fun and cool! Our tour girl was supper funny her name was Andie! There’s a lot of history too!
Traditionally Modern Food
Our tour guide, Clay was amazing . He told facts in interactive way. Good to know seattle history
Brandon Garcia
It was a super interesting tour in learning the origins of the first Seattle settlement, where those building stand now and how the city basically got raised up. The tour lady was very informative and was very helpful on answering questions. Definitely worth a purchase, even more if you’re a local! You start underground and occasionally go surface level to access other block’s underground areas. Pretty cool!!
4 star for sole reason that when I went, there were massive homeless camps right in front and you have to cross by them to get to this tour. I saw a rambling homeless person aggressively shout at a small tour child as the tour was walking through the block.
Kaitlin Kramer
The tour was a great pace, funny and super interesting without being too intense and dense. Keon (Key-on spelling??) was our guide and was funny, animated and super entertaining. Definitely recommend if in Seattle! Can book online or in advance at pioneer place location.
Jake Yarmoff
Amazing for history nerds! If you’re into museums/tours/history in cities etc this is a must! We had Lisa and she was a fantastic guide too!! Really fun and interesting tour!
Leo 263
Great guide. Corny jokes but they owned it. A nice history of the city and views underground. Highly suggest you go.
Heather A-H
Very fun. Lots of unknown history. There is an adult and a family friendly tour- not clear on the website so ask if you have a preference.
Chef Mark Coakley
Very informative, one of the best tour guides we ever had. Such a great experience
Rea R
Very nice tour! Went to MOHAI first and this tour complements the history of the Seattle from the museum
daniel unz
The tour was very informative and unique just wish it had more tunnels and such.
Tetiana Gavryshko
Definitely recommend this tour and here is why:
1. They ask you to arrive 15mins prior to your tour time to make sure the tour starts on time. They have waiting area where they provide boardgames, which is I think is a fantastic idea.
2. The tour is different than anything I have experience before.
3. It was a perfect combination of history and jokes. Our tour guide was awesome.
We went on a Saturday and the group was very big, that is the only con.
P.S. there is still a mask requirement (as at many private business). Make sure to bring your mask, but if you forgot - they provide you with one at no cost to you.
Patrick McCloskeyCPA
Great performance from the staff. They were interesting and informative. It’s worth doing once …
Avery
Amazing tour, amazing guides, and great value. You get a massive amount of Seattle history and it's entertaining, funny, and informative with the right about of bad talking Tacoma. I highly recommend anyone visiting the city to go on the tour. Also lots of old toilet and sewer stories.
Ellen Hirsch
Fun tour with loads of historical information! Our tour guide was witty and interesting. Great for all ages!
Gregg H
This was a fun experience for our small group of four. There are various discounts available so ask at the counter. Clay was our tour guide he made it very enjoyable and he made the entire crowd laugh. This tour is not for the physically impaired as there are a lot of stairs. You will spend close to an hour on the tour. Ask question while your in a section the guides know most the answers if not they will get one for you. There is a souvenirs shop at the end of the tour.
Will Lumsden
Heads up that masks are required (as of the date of the review anyway)! They will sell you one for $1 at the door, but wish I knew in advance so that I could have brought one from my collection.
The tour was awesome and the guide was a great storyteller. Definitely not one to miss as the story of the underground in Seattle was interesting and the architecture is cool to see. Would recommend to any of my friends headed to Seattle!
Kaleb Sipes
Fascinating Seattle history. Throughly enjoyed this tour. We definitely recommend it to those touring Seattle.
Niki Dupras
Awesome tour! Lots of great historical information and our tour guide had a great sense of humor. Learned a lot about the underground city of Seattle!
Ian Dees
The tour guides are great, the information is really interesting, but it's a lot shorter than I expected it to be. I felt like we skipped over a few cool areas in the tour that would be neat to learn more about. There were a few times where the guide would say "oh that? It's just junk" when I asked what the obviously saved stuff in the side was. It's definitely worth going, but don't be afraid to ask questions to get your money's worth!
David Odom
Had a great time. The two tour guides that led and spoke of the history were very knowledgeable. The tour it's self was just the right amount of time and yielded lots of tidbits in an entertaining way. Longer tours may show more underground I am not sure but like most things after awhile they all look similar.
Renton G
We had an absolutely fantastic time! I've lived in the Seattle area my whole life but never had taken the tour. Not only was the history fascinating, but the tour guide was super entertaining too! She was knowledgeable, funny, and very safety conscious. I would recommend this tour for visitors and locals!
Andrew Polin
Tour guides are funny and enthusiastic about telling the story of Seattle. Seriously did not expect such an engaging bit of history. The actual tour takes about 40 minutes and you jump around downtown delving into the underground tunnels and learn how and why they were created, and what that meant to the residents of the city, along with lots of other stories of the cities early years. Apparently the tour changes through the years as they need to sign leases on any block they want the tour to go under, so it's probably worth going back even if you took the tour years ago (it's been going since the 60s I think). Make sure you tip your tour guide!
Tate T
This was such an awesome tour. Rose our guide was so fun and made the experience so much better. If you go, make sure you get in her group. I’m sure the other guides are great to, but she was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and really cool to see all the history beneath the streets
Kelli O'Hara
Great tour with so much information about the history or Seattle. I highly recommend this tour!
Jennah Jones
My family went to Seattle for the weekend, and this was the highlight of our trip. Our tour guide was hilarious, and had quick answers to my questions, an architecture grad student, and those from my father, a history buff. The experience would interest historic preservationists, archivists, photographers, and anyone who is daring enough to walk up and down steep flights of stairs for two hours.
These tours are also the only way that these underground tunnels get funding for maintenance, as they're *not* granted landmark status, sadly. They'll only exist so long as building owners see their value, so buying a ticket is a great way to preserve a fascinating piece of city history!
Alberto De Agostini
Interesting trip where you'll understand how Seattle was built and see it's "underground". The trip is nice because the guides are very good and funny
Jason Roemaat
Fun and interesting tour about the history of Seattle and the many mistakes along the way. Tour guide was very informative and entertaining.
Geoffrey Hill
I thought the tour was awesome. I had a low bar coming in, expecting more of a city walking tour, but it definitely wasn’t that. The city is so rich with history and it’s all “preserved” and “underneath your nose”. I quote preserved for the same reason I give a 4 star. The structural integrity of the tunnels is VERY sus: it hasn’t been improved by structural engineers and is “left as is” because of some city ordinance. Honesty, makes it very sketch. Also, I’m pretty sure there is mold in the tunnels because I started feeling a little nauseous. Great tour, I’m skeptical to recommend. On the one hand I think it’s worth seeing, but on the other, I have reservations about safety of structures and from mold. Our tour guide was very good, entertaining, and very informative. Thanks for a great time!
Joshua Lim
Fun experience to see some cool (and creepy) historical areas that are unique and carry some neat history. Our tour guide was knowledgable and friendly, and added some great humor to a very educational tour. It was cool to learn some of the lesser known history of Seattle, especially its pioneer roots and and how the city was formed (it’s a wild story). Overall, a unique activity and great way to spend a couple hours downtown.
Jay Slupesky
Absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. The guide is as funny as a great standup comedian. I laughed so hard, especially at the "seamstress" jokes! Highly recommended.
Row O'Toole
While it was interesting, the tour seemed very short and not what I was expecting. The size of the group was way too big. I'd say about a hundred people that was split into two groups for one tour time. I'm not sure if we saw the same places as the other group as we didn't see them again till the end. It was nice that they allowed you to wait inside before the tour. Pioneer Square was not a pleasant place to be. The guides were knowledgeable and friendly.
Henry Teaford-Boldridge
Really enjoyed the experience, the tour guides were really knowledgeable and gave a lot of good information about the area and history of how Seattle became Seattle
Alisa Khliestkova
Very fun, I wish there was a less family friendly option though, I feel like there’s potential
Nicole Batchelor
Great tour, but no time given underground to read any of the information in there.
Scott Heath
Thoroughly enjoyed the tour - a great guide delivered an entertaining and informative overview of the below street level history of Seattle.
Madeleine Thorell
This tour was amazing! So much interesting history about Seattle, and being able to see the underground really made the entire experience magical 😍 great storytelling from the guide, kid-friendly, and interactive with children. Highly recommend visiting all the way from Sweden 😄 …
Jess G
It’s a fun tour and kids will definitely enjoy walking in the underground. Underground tour expands about 2-3 blocks round trip. Would recommend all the staff was lovely.
Jason Conklin
Totally with it! We learned a ton of really fun Seattle history. Our guide was really funny and it was a unique experience.
Ben J
Great tour! The tour was very interesting and informative. Great way to learn a little Seattle history. Be prepared to wear a mask as they still have and enforce an indoor mask requirement.
N D von Biedenfeld
Great tour & Lisa was an awesome tour guide. It is underground so be prepared for the sort of moldy smell. The tour guide was very knowledgeable & funny. The tour was a little over an hour. There was a gift shop at the end. It is not wheelchair accessible. There are a few stairs to walk up & doen but nothing major. Educational.
Sara grace Wehmeyer
My husband and I just went on this tour and I highly recommend it. The staff was very fun and engaging. We got to learn lots about the history of Seattle. In the tour you initially get a 15 minute briefing on some history of the story about the streets of Seattle and the key people that played parts in that process. Then you go with your tour guide and you walk outside to a different building to go down into the underground. After a little while you come back out of the underground you walk outside to the next spot to then go downstairs again to another underground area and you do that one more time. There are lots of stairs and uneven floor, so be advised. This establishment still does require masks whenever we were indoors.
Kris W
Great tour! Very educational on the foundation of Seattle. Worth the money!
Cee Win
It was like a walking comedy tour and history lesson combined. I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Jeremy Jones
Recommended by locals as worthwhile which says a lot for something “touristy.” This tour is legitimately fun while also providing a fact-based history of the underground. Andie was a fun and very knowledgeable guide. This is well worth the modest price of admission and an enjoyable introduction to an unique part of Seattle.
Mindy Downing
Lisa made the tour so much fun! Amazing seeing under Seattle
Kathleen Flores
Excellent tour guides, enjoyable trip for the entire family. if history is something that interests you. Easy walk from Pioneer Square station; worth the admission fee. They allow you to wait inside if you arrive early. The tour begins in the basement and moves through the street then returns below ground in segments. The museum/gift store is where the tour ends. The tour guides are undoubtedly enthusiastic and competent, so bring some money to tip them. Although I'm still perplexed as to how the young girl who purportedly haunts one area perished in the fire if no one killed in the Seattle Fire. If we had inquired, I'm certain they would have provided more information.
Christopher Roman
Loved this tour! You get to see a side of Seattle few others do, and you learn all about the interesting historical background as to why this underground city exists in the first place. The tour guides are super funny and keep it interesting!
Thomas Connery
The tour guide was great. We had Jim and he was both informative and fun. If you enjoy history, you will like this this tour. Seattle has quite a challenging history considering it’s not that old.
Dev Patel
Amazing tour. Very detailed and humorous explanation of the underground part of Seattle. Got to learn history but it was never boring . My friends who hate history enjoyed the tour because it was funny, made sense, and very interesting. A must see in Seattle!
Commander Crime
The tour was very informative and interesting. The guide was very difficult to hear at times but he was funny and charismatic when I could hear him.
I really enjoyed seeing the old history of our city and hearing the stories of the past. Chief Seattle had a small spot dedicated to him but I think the tour would benefit with more information about how the Duwamish people and lands were colonized by the early settlers here.
Overall I think they are charging a bit much for the experience but it was a nice change of pace for me!
My last thoughts are how funny it is that Bill Speidel managed to make all those beautiful buildings historic landmarks and now the one his business is in has a bunch of rent a space offices 🤣
Tybie Fitzhugh
Definitely fun and informative! Be ready to climb lots of stairs up and down repeatedly, as well as navigate rough and uneven ground throughout most of the tour. Some seating is available at various points but there is not enough to accommodate everyone, so you may need to stand for the entire tour.
Michael Linhart
They had a great tour and I had no idea about all the sub level underground history about Seattle. It was really eye opening! I would recommend anyone who likes to see and learn about the history of a city as cool as Seattle!
Andre Aguilar
THEY WERE SO GREAT! My tour guide was so good, but I can't remember her name. Her jokes were fantastic and the information was interesting and clear.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Tom Ellis
Guide was very funny and informative. The gentleman at the museum at the end of the tour got super offended after I told him the paper mask don't help anything but still wld entertain him by pushing it up completely over my nose. My money was no good there because he got offended by my statement. I wouldn't recommend purchasing any goods from here to support them either. Extremely rude.
Jim Darragh
It's interesting to see how Seattle just built a new city over the old one destroyed by the fire of 1889. Informative but, some of the groups are too large which makes it difficult to hear the guide when we move to a different location. They like to point out landmarks while walking to the next stop. I do think it's worth seeing especially if you're into history.
Michael Foley
Wonderful experience! Born and raised in Washington and had never been on this tour before. Learned so much about the history of Seattle! Our guide was excellent, full of puns, great jokes, very knowledgeable, and clearly loved doing this. Can't wait to go back and take the late night tour that's 21+!
Jamie Umscheid
Better than I anticipated!! Lisa was a funny and engaging guide. We had a great time and learned about Seattle’s history. Someone asked for a ghost story, and the result gave me goosebumps.
Chris Pauly
Really good tour that gives history geeks a unique look at old Seattle. The tour guide was informative and funny. A worthy tribute to Seattle's drive to succeed!
Kerianne Chevalier
Our tour guide was amazing with all of her jokes. I learnt and laughed a lot. It's probably just my fault for assuming it was going to be more like tunnels and the tour seamed (<- sewing joke 😉) shorter than I expected. Worth the time to learn some city history in a fun way! …
Sarah Coughlin
Funny and very intriguing tour guides. The tour itself was very informative! It was our first time in Seattle and felt it was a great way to understand the city’s history.
Artyom Sevchenko
Our tour guide Jim was great. Bring a sweatband in the summertime if you're from a colder climate like myself because it was sweltering down there. Also, if you bring your elderly mother she might have some trouble negotiating all the stairs involved.
Jeremy Gates
This was a super cool tour...and we had a lot of fun. It's a lot of walking (so be aware) but worth doing if you have some time in Seattle
Jill Kramer
Fun, fast paced, funny narration by Keyon. He made the tour so memorable. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. The whole tour is highly organized. We didn’t have tickets but just turned up last minute.
Joost
Unexpectedly surprising underground tour. Nice attraction when you’re in Seattle and have a moment to spare.
Jen Case
This tour was worth the trip. Our guide made it interesting and funny. We got a lot of history of the city as we walked through several underground passages and rooms.
Tami Spears
What a wonderful experience! We were visiting from Colorado and really enjoyed this tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and she was funny so that made it even more worth it.
Joeary Long
Our guide TJ is very funny and knowledgeable, a great once in a lifetime experience!
Kevin Gertner
Interesting tour but the cringe level from the tour guide was pretty high. She claimed she was making dad jokes but I would not give them that high of status. The Seattle historical bits were interesting though and that alone makes the tour worth it. Shame that they don't offer a non "comedy" tour.
The museum near the end of the tour was "ok". AND the gift shop that you are forced to exit through was worth it for the ridiculousness levels. It was either pilfered by meth heads or designed by the skid row inhabitants outside.
Bill Elkins
Very cool inexpensive history lesson and tour through several underground passages and spaces. Our guide, Dean, was very entertaining, funny, and encouraged engagement with our fellow group members throughout. Highly recommend!
Søren Nielsen
Fantastic and very interesting tour.
Only downside might not really be the tours fault, but rather the tipping culture in US. Not carrying any cash and not even knowing what Venmo is (we don't have that in Denmark) it almost felt like running away from the tap when I was unable to tip the guide at the end. Sad way to end a great tour.
Joe F
This tour was fun, comical and explained the unique Seattle history. My favorite parts were discovering how many "Seamstresses" worked to better the city.
Easy walk and we'll light. We took out 7month old and 3yr old and had no issues just remember no stroller while on the tour.
Friendly staff and would recommend for anyone wanting to see Seattle from underground.
Marcus Ghalebi
Clay was our tour guide, and he managed to be both super informative and hilarious at the same time. Definitely learned a great deal about the fascinating city of Seattle from a humorous point of view. Definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone. Unless you're from Tacoma.
M Phelan
We had a great tour guide. One of my favorite tours...ever.
Nicole Smith
Our tour guide was great. Can't remember their name but they had glasses and dark hair. They made some great jokes and I learned so much even being a seattle native. Would def recommend.
Brett Matak
My favorite tour in Seattle- history of Seattle told in an engaging interesting way. Our guide TJ was awesome and you will learn and laugh. Highly recommend.
Thiccletics
If you like history then you should take this tour. It’s been a long time since I’ve taken it but it was fun and cool to learn about! Highly recommend.
Crystal Riches
This is a very fun way to spend an hour downtown. They make learning about history hilarious and entertaining. They do currently require masks, so keep that in mind. They do sell disposable masks at the door.
Audrey Coventry
Would do this tour again! It's such a unique way to learn about historic Seattle, and the guides both knowledgeable and absolute delights. Definitely recommend.
Ivy Alden
The tour was really cool and fun! Angie was our tour guide and was AMAZING! She was really funny and had a lot of cool history to share.
Ella Wintour
Really enjoyed this tour.
Lisa was our tour guide - they were a fantastic, telling really engaging and funny stories which made each of us connect with Seattle's past.
Stephanie Budin
Loved this tour, very interesting and informative. T.J. was our guide and he was fantastic! He was extremely knowledgeable and very funny. He’s a great storyteller! Highly recommend!
Melanie Lavery
If you like crazy historical facts presented in a captivating and amusing manner, this is the city tour for you! Bill Speidels Underground Tour provides an interesting insight into Seattles wacky history while being wildly entertaining. The tour guides do a great job conveying Seattles amusing (and raunchy) past while keeping it family friendly. And even if your spouse just dragged you along to take in some culture, the toilet humor and dad jokes will hopefully make your time worthwile!
Michael Varga
Times r changing... I get that.
With the tour being about 60% above ground and 40% below and it's post-pandemic, I get that too! Businesses have to evolve, utilizing more resources underground, preventing the tour group to see more. It is much 'cleaner' of what we saw underground compared to what I saw underground 35 years ago. My impression 35 yrs ago as a teenager, I think, was much more cooler and impressionable than December 2022 to see more artifacts and more way of life, more as how it used to look like in 1890. There are pictures hung on the walls, and stories to go with them now, and the story telling gives a great visual, but there were more 'in the moment' evidence of 'get the heck out of there' when I visited as a teen. I missed wanting to see the depths of toiletry when I saw it recently! C'est la vie!
Abby Fordham
The tour was ok, guide was very knowledgeable. It was hard to hear, due to how many people, and the spaces we were in. I did the tour a few years ago, and found a smaller group was a more enjoyable experience.
Yann KFB
Great tour and tour Guides that interacted with the group and made this a great experience.
This is a great way to discover some history of Seattle the neighborhood and it’s souroundings while learning a bit of history at the same time.
Karen Husted
Fun to learn the details about Seattle's history and see all the places built over.
Tiyash Basu
Phenomenally funny tour of Seattle's soft brown underbelly. Incredible value for money no matter which way you look at it. I chose to look at it as a comedy routine where the tour was just a bonus. But i would forgive someone for thinking the opposite. Either way, you should thoroughly enjoy the history lesson, the comedy and the tour itself, coz 2 out of those 3 are free.
Arrived from out of town and luckily found street parking close to the place. We walked up, got tickets and were playing crokinole while waiting. The bar seemed to be closed at the time however the restrooms were open, clean and functional.
A brief insight into the shady and muddy history of Seattle's beginings replete with colorful characters of the same nature left us in awe. A never-say-die attitude of rebuilding the city, reelecting a crook for a mayor, and the infamous Crapper fountains with their daily light, sound and smell show (P.S works only when the tides are in; batteries not included) shed light into the early life of Seattlites. A veritable tale of seamstresses and sewers, oatmeals and raisins, and the biggest donor before Bill Gates, for almost a century nonetheless, let us soak in Seattle's culture from that time.
Definitely a must visit and i will be back for the other tours someday. Only sad thing was that the tour ended right when i thought it was about to begin. Never even noticed how fast time went by. What felt like maybe 15mins was actually 1hr and 15mins.
Tour ended in a small museumesque room, part of the rogue's gallery, filled with pictures and historical artifacts from that time. The gallery had more history, including Chief Seattle and his daughter Princess Angeline, the Duwamish tribe, and many of the early business folk, entrepreneurs and builders of early Seattle. There was also merch and memorabilia, and Bill Speidel's book on sale. Bill is the reason why we all can enjoy pioneer square as a historical district today. He is also the gift that keeps on giving.
Raymond Arazas
Great tour of Seattle Underground. Tour experience is dependant on your tour guide. We had TJ he was really good and fun. Overall experience was great.
Lauren Ashbee
Absolutely AMAZING!!! We loved this tour and were blown away on learning about Seattle's past and how it was built with it's massive underground tunnels and buildings.
This is an ABSOLUTE must if you are in Seattle. Do not pass this tour by!
Kate Harvey
This was fun! We are locals we have heard great things and decided to give it a try! Jim was super funny and we learned a lot of history! We will be back when friends and family visit
G B
Do this tour! The humor was wonderful and the tour was informative. Our group had a wonderful time and we are still raving about how much fun we had. Do it!!
Amanda Baskerville
Had the best tour guide this time around! Have been here twice and loved both tours. 10/10 recommend.
Carlos Monteros
Excellent tour guide. Fun and interesting look at Seattle's past. A must for visitors looking for a unique experience.
igor inozemtsev
It didn't look like your usual boring tourist excursion. It was a fantastic show! A little piece of history about a little piece of Seattle.
Dante
TJ was a fantastic guide; balancing the right amount of information and humour. The tour itself was very interesting and was worth the cost.
Drew Hirsch
It was a fun tour. Tour guide was funny and provided a lot of information about the history of Seattle. I would recommend.
Justin Zarcia
Had TJ the purple man as a tour guide and was one of the best comedic tour expereinces I've had. Something as mundane as streets and sidewalks was fascinating, highly recommend.
Arnab Nag
I went as a tourist & learnt quite a lot about Seattle. Loved the energy of our guide. A must do for all other tourists.
Mandy Lamothe
Great tour
Our guide (TJ ? Plays drums in a band) was most excellent. 11 out of 10 stars !!
Joe B
Great tour but the guide makes it awesome. Tour is rich in history and very informative.
Shafreen Sayyed
This is a fantastic tour a must visit if in Seattle. It’s a bit further out from downtown but a quick taxi ride. The hosts were knowledgeable and humours - a fun afternoon
J Biker
Monica was a great guide, funny and very knowledgeable on Seattle history. Very interesting tour!
HB Wooten
This was a fun historical tour of Seattle Washington Under the city tour guides were funny and great highly recommend it if you were in that area
kamu gregoire
Guide was so much fun, and the tour has a lot of history. I think @billspidelsundergroundtour is the event that my wife and I are raving about the most to family upon arriving home.
Scott Thomas
After having a few hours free we were told about the tour and decided to go along. Really fascinating and factual to see. Would recommend.
T Williams
This tour was awesome. I had a blast. The tour guide was awesome, he had lots of info and the history behind it all is very cool. I would suggest this tour to anyone who wants to know the towns back story. Loved how the purple stones were ment to shine light down. Once again check it out if you can.
Jim Jameel
The guide was so awesome on performing the tour. The tour it self was kind of interesting short informative one
Z K
The history is better than the sights. Don’t expect a sprawling underground metropolis. What they are able to explain while making your way through was fascinating. It’s very humor driven as well so definitely a good family experience. I was alone and had a great time. I was able to walk in spontaneously and buy a ticket moments before the tour guide started speaking. I’m not sure if that is always possible but I appreciated it. I’m recommending to friends traveling to Seattle soon!
D M
Genuinely entertaining and interesting tour. Our guide Clay (as in the pigeon) was phenomenal.
Austin Harris
Incredible experience. Our guide was absolutely phenomenal and would recommend to anyone! Learned so much and will probably do it again for the fun of it next time I'm in Seattle!! Thank you!!!
Dwight Amstutz
This was a great experience. Learning lots of details about how the city was built and the mistakes made along the way. Very insightful. The guides were amazing in their education and details. My kids loved the 75 minute adventure. Included some random pictures. Explanations are in the tour.
Chris Sotraidis
Detailed and fun tour. Since I knew literally nothing about the history surrounding the Seattle underground, it was well worth it. Our tour guide was informative and hilarious. Definitely a highlight of my time in Seattle. Seems like something everyone should check out if they're in town.
Christopher Fickey
This was recommended to me by a coworker and I'm so thankful for the insight. Great tour for all ages outlining the history of Seattle with the bonus of exploring the hidden underground. Well worth the time if you are interested in history or infrastructure.
Brian Williams
After living in Seattle for nearly my entire life, I had never taken this tour. But having some time to kill on a cold day, decided to give it a go. Well worth it. I don't remember the tour guides name but he was great. Lots of funny historical stories. So if you have a couple hours book online, you won't be disappointed.
Emma Swanson
Really cool tour though the underbelly of Seattle. Our guide told us some really awesome historical information while keeping it light with some cheesy jokes. Definitely would recommend if you have some free time visiting the city or have lived there forever and want to know a little bit more about what you walk over daily.
Tonya Chavez
It was fun very informative and the guide was funny. It's something you should go atleast once
Mike Bobye
If you love learning about history, then this is a must see. Our tour guide did an amazing job keeping us entertained while delivering many interesting facts about the period in question. I would highly recommend taking the 75 minutes and doing this tour the next time you are in Seattle.
Isidoro Barranco
This tour was very informative and I would recommend this to anyone that is visiting. I learn a lot about seattle. Our tour guide was super funny and knowledgeable. I would do it again.
BreeAnn Liddle
Our tour guide had a definite passion for her job. The tour was fun and exciting. Absolutely recommend if you have 1.5 hours to kill in downtown Seattle. Not stroller or handicap friendly, because it's UNDERGROUND. SO MUCH FUN THOUGH!!
Erin Curtis
This is the one thing that my kids were less than excited about but ended up loving it! Our guide Clay was FANTASTIC! He made history come to life with his story telling. Anyone who can keep my 14 year old daughter entertained with history for over an hour is a hero in my book!
Kavya Gupta
Had a wonderful wonderful time with the tour. Learned so much about the history of Seattle and Pioneer Square. The tour guide in all purple attire 😁 was so funny and exciting when telling us about history. I definitely recommend this tour to everyone else.
They have excellent seating arrangements inside in case you show up early with board games and drinks to enjoy. Amazing tour!
Brittany McDougall
Absolutely wonderful experience! I am so glad I decided to book this tour while in Seattle! Our tour guide (I unfortunately cant remember his name) was an absolute treat; very funny, knowledgeable, and friendly. He was a remarkable storyteller, we remained interested in everything he had to say. The stories of Seattle's underground, how it came to be, and all the historical characters involved with it were interesting and fun to learn. We felt safe following our guide around the tour, and of course the underground itself is so very cool and just a one-of-a-kind experience! I will recommend this tour to anyone going to Seattle!
Richard T
Ok experience, humor is toilet humor. Interesting though if you are into in infrastructure. A lot of people on the tour
arrion kong
Clay was an amazing tour guide with the jokes and knowledge about the city. Not too much walking, but not recommended for those who have trouble walking. The ground is uneven and several staircases to climb.
Laura B
Fun tour to go on, it was interesting hearing about the fire and how it changed the future of Seattle. The guide was great and hilarious!
4 stars because right outside the front doors there’s a ton of homeless people everywhere. It was a tad concerning for the latest tour starting at 7pm and not done until well after 8pm.
Richard Libby
Excellent history lesson, especially with Shane as the tour guide.
ELizabeth Johnson
We just did the underground tour today and Monica was our tour guide. She was funny and very informative it was a great tour. Not only did my husband and I love it but my daughter had a great time! Definitely one of the highlights of our trip so far, I highly recommend it!!! Thanks!
Julie Knowles
This is the second time my husband and I have done this tour. The first time was probably about 6 years ago and we enjoyed it and decided to go again while visiting Seattle with our daughter who had never been to Seattle.
We had a great time. Our guide was funny, engaging and did a great job. The groups are much smaller (post-Covid) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!!
Zaayer Nasib
A very interesting experience, learning about Seattle's history and old city underneath the new one!
We took our tour in December, which probably isn't the busy season as it was only around 15 of us on the group. The guide was very nice and informative and answered all the questions we had throughout the tour.
Before the tour begins, you can get snacks or drinks from the bar, or play some games in the bar.
Brian & Jenny Perket
Fun tour, little over an hour long. Tour guides get into it and keep it fun. What you see under ground isn't all that great but the stories that go with it make the tour. If you have trouble with stairs or your balance might be hard to do.
Ryan Humphrey
This is a great tour and a fun way to hear about the history of Seattle. This was quite an interesting view on the city that you would likely otherwise never see. Our tour guide was great at bringing humor and euphoniums throughout the experience. Whether a local or visitor, this is fun to try when you are in town👍 …
Maya Wolf
As described on the website, taking public transit is quite a bit easier than trying to find parking. Using the link rail, I was about 2 blocks away from the entrance. Buying tickets online made the tickets slightly cheaper. I arrived about 10 minutes early and there was a place to wait and a bathroom (would recommend using it since there is not bathroom stop during the tour).
The tour guide, Lisa (pretty sure that was her name) was very informative, had a good sense of humor and gave ample time for any questions.
If you have any knee or ailments with stairs, I would not recommend this tour since there are plenty of times going up and down stairs.
Overall, I really enjoyed the tour and wished it was longer than the 1hr 15 mins. :)
Rachel Solby Park
Definately recommend this tour!! They explained Seattle's long history short with architectural meterials. You won't regret being in this tour!
Kitty Jacquot
Our tour guide was great for this tour! He had a great comedic spiel, was gracious to children, spoke so that could all hear and the pace was such that older people as well as children could keep up. Bravo!
I highly recommend this very interesting tour!
Samantha Mackowitz
Clay was an AMAZING tour guide. Highly recommend this tour if you like history.
okabhala
The tour guide made this experience amazing. Very welcoming. Informative from beginning to end. Will forever treasure and value the roles played by characters in time past
Robert Kingsford
This tour was great. Our tour guide was so entertaining! There are so many great stories about the history of early Seattle. It was well worth the money!
s goldenberg
Very fun and different tour. Lots of up and down stairs so make sure you're able to handle walking and stairs for an hour. Your guide was wonderful and it's a fun way to see a part of the city you wouldn't otherwise experience.
McDonald Law Group
We had an amazing time on our tour. Fun facts and entertaining stories. I highly recommend.
We even captured a ghost on film.
Kat Arnett
LOVED the history telling and humor!!! My 11 year old had a great time too! The only downside is all the homeless in the area that make the area scary. Still worth coming here (in broad daylight)
Dr. Manuel Kuehner
Review from the point of view of a tourist which have English as their second language.
The tour has two parts, part one is a lecture about the historic context and part two is the actual tour.
Part one is short in relation to part two.
The first part of the tour, the lecture, is fast-paced and very funny BUT too complicated for most foreigners to follow / understand from an English language point of view.
I live in the US for about two years now and was able to understand about 80 %. Others of my group understood maybe 40 %.
Darron Smith
Tour Guide is key. Great tour, great stories, gross history. Well worth it. Seattle done proud.
Branden Conley
This tour is amazing! Humorous and educational and exciting! Anytime we have friends or family visiting we are planning to take them with us on this tour.
If you have any interest in history, or spooky environments, or poop jokes, this will have something for you.
Jamie Salamone
Monica was our tour guide and she was great! I loved that she brought so much fun to the tour of the underground. The tour was great and we definitely look at Seattle a lot differently knowing the things she shared with us. If you are visiting Seattle, take the tour!!
Christopher “Ombwah” Holtorf
Our guide was fun and energetic, and the history was very interesting, if a bit compressed. For the price though, we got a thoroughly entertaining and educational trip beneath the streets of Seattle. Worth it!
Ross Jordan
Thought the tour was fascinating. Lots of history, lots of stories, lots of laughs. Highly recommended!
Amy Hays
Our tour guide Angie was hilarious! She really knows how to keep the group engaged with the tour. So much odd history and fun back stories. Great tour.
Robert Wahl
I loved the tour. It was great fun and informative. Our guide was part guide and part comedian, and she really knew her history. The end-of-tour gift shop was not fancy but had even more info on Seattle's wacky history. I really appreciated that the tour guides were there to answer further questions.
Anthony Cassotta
Awesome and Adam was a great tour guide! Very funny and interesting! Don't get me started about Barry though!
Michael F
Really enjoyed this tour. Our guide Angie was really informative, funny and entertaining. She went through a short history and only complaint was that it felt really short but that was because it moved really fast. Highly recommend when you're in downtown Seattle
Lena Griffin
Took two tours with this company. Both with a man named “Miles”. He’s excellent and funny! Very informative and good at keeping the group together. I always suggest this tour to others!
Ross Elliott
This was a highlight of our Seattle visit. An amazing back story on Seattle that I doubt many people know about. It was just fantastic. Highly recommend.
Mardean Loggins
If you are in Seattle and want a most entertaining unique experience do this tour. If you're lucky you will get TJ for your tour guide. Absolutely awesome.
Sujith Murari Das
If you are a history buff, you will like it. There is lots of stairs to walk through like going up and coming down. It may be difficult for elderly people. Lot of urine smell as you have to walk through alleys and stuff.
Ryan Miller
Pretty cool tour. You get some early history of the city and see few different parts of the underground. I took my 11 year old and the guide did a good job at hinting at some of the seedy past of the city but not explicitly saying it.
Rebecca Winchell
Learned much about the history of Seattle. Monica was a great tour guide.
Izzy Robinson
Best underground tour in Seattle! So much history jammed into a little over an hour, short walking tour around and beneath the streets. Not very accessible at all unfortunately but definitely the coolest thing to do in Seattle.
Madison West
The tour guide was so immensely knowledgeable. By far one of the coolest tours I went on while in seattle. Favorite part? Madam Lou Graham
Creston Inderrieden
Unique and memorable. Who knew!?! We all really enjoyed this tour.
aaron 81006
Wow! What an interesting place. We loved hearing about the history of the area. The guides are awesome! They really enjoy their job and let it show. It's like learning with a touch of comedy. Someone that has difficulty walking and climbing stairs would have a hard time so give them a hand. Would recommend it.

Shelley Phipps
Fun walk under the city of Seattle. Learning about the beginning of the city to some very interesting entertainment that went on down there. Great tour guide.
D B H (Brad)
Super interesting, amusing, and all around fun tour. Family friendly.
MaHoney McKeon
A must do when visiting Seattle!!! Well laid out, well lit, and great information. They toned it down from the actual stories of the time. Great sense of humor and knew how not to take things too seriously.
Isabella Bicksker
It is a bit more on the expensive side averageing $20 a person. But you get a 75 minute tour. You get a great knowledge of early Seattle and the tour guides are all great!
Brad Frese
Great tour, very informative and entertaining. Be prepared to walk a little, including up and down several sets of stairs. Good overview of early Seattle history.
Aoife Dowling
Funny and informative. The perfect walking tour. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.
Valerie Walker
Very interesting history of Seattle. Loved it. Our tour guide was very funny and informative. Now we know why the glass turns purple.
Diego G
Fun and full of history! I totally reccomend this tour if you are spending a couple of days in Sea. These guys are the original underground tour, so don't be fooled by other copycats around the web. Stick with tbe Speidels dudes 😎 …
Cortney Mothershead
Enjoyed the tour. Andie was great! She was very knowledgeable about Seattle history, the underground, and very engaging to listen to. Only downside was the size of the group. A smaller group would have been a bit more enjoyable. It was definitely still manageable and easy to hear.
kendall martin
Terrific tour guide and great information. Though underground, you do walk outside between buildings so be prepared if it is raining. The history of Seattle is fascinating and added a great deal to our visit of the city.
Krishna G
This is a must see attraction in Seattle. Explains how the city has evolved and going through tunnel experience shows the bits and pieces of the past. Guide was friendly and have enough time for visitors to experience the places. I would definitely recommend. Have some spare cash in hand to tip the guide!
Donovan
I have to say this was way more fun and interesting than I expected it to be. The tourguide told us interesting history about Seattle that'll make you look different at the city and you'll start noticing the little things about why Seattle looks like it does. Worth a visit
Sarah Walker
Great tour! A must for anyone visiting Seattle
Tess Elford
This was so much fun - a totally unexpected evening out and we loved it! A great potted history of Seattle, some brilliantly gross/funny stories, and value for money too.
Jonathan Moran
If your tour guide is TJ I think his name was. He wears a purple robe. He is awesome. Highly recommended if you've never gone.
Jason Perkins
A lot of people recommended and it lived up. Great and interesting info mixed with perfect amount of dad jokes and helped escape the heat way for an hour. Definitely recommend.
Dave Kelejian
Very informative. Tons of facts you'll never know unless you do this tour. There is also a paranormal tour that is supposed to be also great but I had time restraints.
Beth Miller
It was so interesting. The history of the city and the underground life was told very accurately. I feel the tour guide could have been a but more energetic, she seemed tired. The people at the ticket counter were not very friendly either.
Aidan Bell
Really interesting. Tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.
Gave a great and unusual insight into the history of the city and put some of the architecture and layout of the city into context.
Glenn K
Great tour. Very funny hosts and the time commitment isn't too much.
Emmanuelle Caumont (Ask Frenchie - Realtor)
Very fun tour to discover the early days of Seattle. A must do!
Klaudia Forgacova
Andie was an AWESOME tour guide! We learned a lot and she talked us through it like she was giving us all the tea (gossip) on Seattle, which made the history so fun.
andrea
Very interesting tour of the underground city of seattle, guide was great, cool things to look at, lots of stairs and uneven ground, so if you have a hard time walking this isn't a good tour to take
Ramesh Deshar
I could not believe how the underground was built in those days. The crazy thing is they were still preserved so well and the tall buildings are just over them. Really great thing to watch from the past.
Phillip Bassett
Nice tour. Cool history. Friendly guides.
scott elkins
Amazing and informative. The tour guide was hilarious
JBLM Relocation Sponsor
We had so much fun touring Underground Seattle. Learned some history and got to take in some fun sites!
Robert Abbott
Pretty cool unique experience. The are 3 underground areas you walk through and the guides are informative and funny... There are a lot of poop and crapper jokes... You'll understand why after the tour. I don't know if they fill up but the 10 am tour was split in 2 groups of about 20 so you may want to call ahead or reserve.
Ashley Hayhurst
Had a great time with a great guide! Loved learning about the history of why Seattle has an unseen underground no longer in use.
Sandos Barnes
Wow who would of known. Seattle is "2nd level"... Go Indianapolis Colts!
Dan Cesaro
Really cool tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Definitely recommend.
Bill Castello
I didn't really have an expectation before this tour, so it far exceeded any ideas I had about what it would be like. I was very entertained and learned a lot about the fascinating history of Seattle.
Ajninja 84
Awesome tour, alot of facts and city info, we had a great guide that we had! About an hour long for 22.00. Not much walking all pretty local arround the area. Ends in the gift shop.
Amanda S
Really enjoyed the tour! It was very informative and fun and our guide Lisa was very witty, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Suigyoku Sama
If you do nothing else touristy in Seattle, do this! It's fun, historical, funny, neat. And if you've recently moved to Seattle, it's a great way to learn about the city!
Danielle O'Neill
Absolutely loved this tour. The tour guide was hilarious and the history of the underground was fascinating. Can’t recommend this tour enough - money well spent!
Jason O'Flaherty
It was really fun. Well worth it. Plan ahead early to make sure you have a chance to pick one of their more unusual tours if they interest you, but the normal tour was still great. Very friendly staff.
Asi'a Darring
Our tour guide, Angie, was hilarious. The tour was insightful and cool. Plus at the end your wristband gave you a discount at a local restaurant.
Ashley Stuker
The tour guides we're very informative, entertaining, and personable. We had a fantastic time and learned a lot. Wish the tour covered more underground! All in all I'd recommend this to others.
Anton S
Great and interesting tour. The tour guide was awesome and very informative. Completely worth the price. And you get a small discount as a college student.
Tamella H
Great great tour with amazing tour guides. They were very knowledgeable and funny. The cost is very reasonable you can buy ticket online or on a counter. I went n Tuesday afternoon and it was busy(around 40-50) in one group. So I guess it does make difference if you are going weekend or weekday. You will learn a lot about fascinating history of Seattle.
Dani Rosales
Out of the tour options to get to know the city of Seattle; we enjoyed this one the most. What an interesting experience learning about the first now “underground” city. Our tour guide was very well informed, entertaining and witty. Truly an awesome experience.
Chirag Bhatt
If you are a fan of history then you have to check this tour out. It is only about 60-90 mins and is very cool to go see the actual original streets as they once were before the great fire and Seattle decided to raise ALL streets upto what was then the 2nd floor entrances to all the buildings and shops and restaurants. Very cool to see how it looks under the current streets. The tour guides are wonderful and very informative. Great tour!
Elizabeth
The tour guides and their knowledge, as well as their performance with that, made for a great tour. It was cheesy and funny but not too much. Really appreciated these young ladies.
Coastlinelivingphotography Laura Bryant
I’ve always wanted to do an underground tour and Seattle was it!
I found the whole story and walking tour very interesting and kinda creepy.. I think kids might be bored because it’s really just a lot of history! I would definitely recommend the tour for $22 it’s worth the money!
Susan Reeves
Great walking tour, very easy walk, loads of information, history and knowledge about the city. The stairs going down to the starting area is a bit steep, railings are required to help guide oneself. Would recommend.
Loves Dogs
Great tour. Our guide was informative and entertaining. I learned quite a bit of history on the town is Seattle. There are a lot of stairs involved you go underground to street level 3 times.
Brock Bell
A lot of fun and very interesting tour. Dress for the weather outside; If it's cold and rainy, the tunnels will be cold and damp. Great tour guides for the trip. I do wish there were a bit more to explore though.
Andrew Lyman
Was a really fun and entertaining tour! Saw some great sites and places you won't normally see.
Eric T. (ET)
Totally worth it. Our tour guide was great. Much to see if you arent familiar with thr area and it's history.
Joyce M
Our guide Angie was great! My whole family enjoyed the tour. It was a very interesting way to learn some of the history of the area. I highly recommend it. For adults, there is a 21 and over tour in the evening. We didn't know about that till we were on our family friendly tour during the day. It sounded like it would be a lot of fun, but we had a great time on the regular tour. There aren't any tight squeezes to worry about. So long as you aren't freaked out about being underground, you'll be fine. There steps. (Sorry, I don't have many pictures to share of the tour.)
Hayley Still
A fun little history tour. Great guides.
Patty Spradling
FANTASTIC tour! This is the one to do! Great info on the history of Seattle. Highly recommend!
Trina Bullard
I loved learning about the history of Seattle as being told by the very entertaining guide. Go underground and see how the city used to look. Highly recommend as something different to do while in the city!
Liz Skinner
Great tour guides, good energy! The stories are amazing, and I like how they're always developing the experience so you can do it years later and learn something new
Michael Luong
Worth doing once but there isn't much to see. It was a great history lesson with lots of interesting tidbit of how Seattle came to be but there were only 3 areas and each area had the similar feeling. The guide was great and it was entertaining
carrie macy
Very educational and enjoyable
Jim, our tour guide was great!
Irene Eberz
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our tour guide Monica excelled in the two things we like best. History and humor.
Bill Gowland
It was so very interesting. I wish there was more time to soak in everything. I would pay more for a smaller vip tour that we could wander more, and maybe even get into more places.
Alyssa Hahn
Intriguing and fun, but I thought it was going to be all underground. Tour guide was excellent!
Ornwara Tritrakarn
I like how this tour gives you access to underground areas you wouldn't be able to enter without the guide/wouldn't have been brace enough to enter alone. Our tour guide, Jim, was friendly and entertaining. Along the tour, he also gave us some good recommendations of nearby attractions. It's a kind of experience I think would be good for someone who is visiting Seattle for the first time but probably not a place I would come if I were to revisit Seattle someday.
Joshua Adams
Very interesting to get the early history of Seattle. The tour guides gave highly informative and funny tours and interacted well with the group.
M Long
Fun tour. Good mix of history and comedy.
Natalie Martin
We went on the adult underground tour and I was a bit leery at how much could actually be covered underground, but I was pleasantly surprised. They covered a lot and the tour guide was funny and knowledgeable.
We were almost late for our tour, unfortunately, because we googled the address and on google it takes you to the wrong spot. The check in process was kind of lengthy and an alcoholic drink was included with our price, but you had to choose from a limited menu, and the drinks were only okay.
The tour itself was fun, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, and we covered some pretty cool things. I definitely recommend trying the tour out.
Paul Larick
Surprisingly sincere effort to explain what lies beneath downtown Seattle's sidewalks, while providing an underground experience. Definitely worth the time, and priced just about right.
Aaron Helms
Very informative and Tour guide Clay was AWESOME!! Not as long as I had hoped but none the less a good time for sure!!!
Gnyanesh Gandhe
Lots to learn from this tour, even for locals! The guide was very funny, great experience!
Silvia-Elizabeth Amador
Super cool place if you are in the area and are down for a quick 1 hour history lesson on the city. Price not bad!
Evan Mecham
Really interesting, very fun, tour guides are really funny. Great for locals and tourists alike.
Helen Ell Tran
I had fun on this tour. It was informative and cool to check out.
Katrina Johnson
More history lesson and less walking/distance for exploration. Staff very knowledgeable and friendly from beginning to end!
Cortney Ayers
Tour guide Clay made this tour informational and fun! There’s not a ton to see, but it’s definitely interesting city history. It’s not an excessive amount of walking, as you stay within a close distance to the starting point, but you go underground 4-ish times, but right in the same square area. Check it out - it’s not expensive so it’s worth the hour+ of your time and money.
Ross Cavins
Great tour about a part of Seattle I never knew existed. Our guide was full of wonderful bad jokes that made the tour more enjoyable than I could ever have imagined. Highly recommended!
Andres Grillo
A must if visit Seattle. Tour was great very interesting story about what was Seattle way back .. unbelievable. Tour guide was very funny, charismatic and very friendly. THX ANDY!!!
Francisco “Eddie”
Pretty cool experience. Very informative. Our guide was super cool, sarcastic and funny!!! Definitely a to-do tour to get a little history.
Bob Tyler
Had a great visit to the Seattle Underground. It’s well worth the tour to get some of the history and background of the city. Also, the tour guides are really well trained and funny!
Gaven Gautreaux
It was a fantastic tour. The guide was entertaining and extremely insightful. She made the trip for us. Also I'd suggest taking after hours sewing tour.
Alex Maloney
Jim was a great tour guide! I just moved to Seattle so he was able to give me so much history on this city! Can’t wait to try the Under World tour next!
Marianne Turner
Extremely entertaining and informational. I absolutely recommend to anyone traveling to Seattle.
Steve Off
Entertaining tour guide gave good history and some jokes along with the tour.
Dannie Fuentes
Great place to learn about Seattle history! It’s a lot of fun! I would do it again.
Thomas Erickson
The tour was excellent! Adam was funny and very knowable on the history and pictures they had. Great for the whole family!
Amanda Rice
Super fun and not just for tourists. We had a lot of locals in our group who had never gone (and several who go everytime they have guests in town😂). They make the history lively and funny. We were all laughing even before the tour started. Be prepared to tip if you enjoy your tour. The tunnels aren't super tight (we had a friend sit out because she thought they were). Overall very cool experience, a lot of stairs and down in tunnels then back to street level due to how the city was rebuilt.
Hannah D
Great experience because of the rich history shared by the tour guides. Short walks around pioneer square. Fun and full of pg rated puns, so its safe for kids ears. We went underground 3 times... Wish there were more spots that we could have seen.
Tyler Brown
The history behind this is extremely fascinating, and the tour guide Jim did a great job going over it.
Rebecca Maegan Johnson
OMG SO creepy! The tour guide was amazing! An experience I will not soon forget!
Joanne Schmutz
Fun tour and we learned a lot. Our tour guide was fabulous and very funny and passionate about why she was teaching us. The history of the glass in the streets was very interesting.
Randy McFarland
Had Jim on the daytime tour and Adrienne on the night adult tour. Both were awesome guides. Highly recommend this tour. Educational and entertaining.
Todd Gunderson
Fun tour of the old underground of Seattle. The tour guide was informative and entertaining and it was just kind of neat walking below the street, at the original level of Old Seattle. Kind of wish we'd have done the haunted tour but either way worth the price.
Linda Newton
Guides are full of fun and information. Very interesting tour.
B Cook
Need to experience the history of Seattle.
Very entertaining and informative.
Guides was awesome.
Jeannie -
Must do in Seattle when visiting. An amazing underground tour. Awesome tour guide, thanks Dean.
Elaine Lim
My husband and I have been here 3 times over the past 5 years. We never get tired of listening to the stories and exploring the underground. It's a great way to introduce someone to Seattle.
K Wat
Would highly recommend this tour for those interested in the Seattle underground. I am not a native, but have been living in the area for a few months. I went with a visiting guest and a Seattle native and we all enjoyed the experience.
Tons of historical anecdotes, good timing, pleasant and amicable host.
9/10 would recommend!
Lorelei Bassler
One of the best lesser-known tourist attractions in Seattle! It was fascinating to step back in time with Jennifer and learn all about the city built on sawdust and skid row. She has a natural enthusiasm for the city's history and respect for its current hardships. If you can sneak in a reservation with her, do it! Amazing tour all around.
Rebecca S.
Our tour guide, T.J. (the one who always wears a purple track suit), was hilarious and very informative! History has never been so memorable and amusing before! Definitely a highlight of things to do in Seattle! But also, one of the few excellent experiences I've had since the pandemic started. They are particular about the necessity of wearing a mask (over your mouth AND nose) while in enclosed spaces, but there are a few chances to take a break from it while outside because the tour goes to several different parts of the underground which requires detours through the open air streets. Overall, 12/10, would DEFINITELY recommend! Also, not a bad price for a 75 minute tour!
Irene Aleman
It was an interesting and fun tour. Lots of facts about the underground. Wish it could have been a little longer, but very satisfied with what we saw.
Arwin Burkett
Very informative. Tour guide was great and entertaining.
Lindsay Hill
Absolutely love this tour! I’ve done it twice over the past few years now, and it was even more hilarious the second time than the first.
Seattle has a fascinating history that many don’t know and this tour does an awesome job of exposing the past in a way that is funny, informative, and even thought provoking to some extent.
If you’re looking for something fun to do, I’d recommend this to tourists and Seattle natives alike as the whole thing is basically a comedy sketch and you’ll leave knowing more about our beloved city.
Pro tip: I’m sure all the guides are great but Jim was fantastic. Could not recommend him more highly!
Prashant R
One of the best places to visit and understand the history of Seattle. There are some lesser-known facts that are showcased. A fun way to spend 2 hours under downtown and learn more. Definitely recommended if you are in town for a short while or even if you are new in town. Can be a bit quirky and different but that is the charm.
Burt Robertson
Great tour . We learned a lot. Can see that some of these area could become great venues and interesting places to enjoy in the future.
Loved the Sidewalk Glass Lighting panels...My wife couldn't believe I new what they were from above before the tour.. I was surprised I was correct too.
Sibeesh Venu
I could learn the history of Seattle a bit. Being a traveler, I feel like the entry fee is a bit more, and it is not worth for that amount.
Mike M
Great experience! A must to know about Seattle's history
ashley elliott
I will start off by stating I’m not a huge fan of history or these kind of tours. However, my husband is, so I booked it.
So glad I did, because it was quite good. The person who made it really good is T.J (our guide). He was very theatrical and made a great show out of a history story! He kept me entertained and actually interested…..which is pretty dang hard. I will also mention, there were several small children in our group and not only did he keep them entertained, he INVOLVED them into the tour. It was very well done. Great stuff, great history.
PJ Kuo
Very interesting tour 🤩
To see the underground of Seattle …
Lorri Blankenship
If you like history this is a must. We really enjoyed our tour.
tony healy
Jim the tour guide made it so fun and very educational. Great piece of seattle history.
Morgan Baker
Super fun and very informative. The seamstress jokes had us all rolling. Our tour guide was absolutely hilarious (despite being a Dawg--GO COUGS!). My only complaint is that due to the tour size, it was sometimes hard to see/hear (though the guide did his best to project his voice). Someday I would love to do their ghost and red light district tours.
James Williams
This tour was great and I enjoyed it immensely. It's crazy that so much still survives down there.
Sammie Pearce
We had the BEST tour guide!! The best thing we did is Seattle. What an interesting beginning to the city! Totally would do it again! Don't miss it!
Paul Lindsey
Highly recommended!!! Was skeptical but the tour is definitely awesome! Great for kids too! The tour guide was hilarious and the underground portion is very very interesting.
George Rogers
This tour was a lot of fun thanks to the great guides and cool history behind Seattle. Definitely worth a trip if you're interested in history and getting a rare perspective on the city.
Jake Bernstein
Pretty amazing that the whole downtown was built above the old city!! Worth doing if have extra time.
Jordan Richardson
Epic tour! Our favorite thing we did on our Seattle trip! The tour guide was funny, whitty, and was having lots of fun. Learned a lot about the history of Seattle along the way. a must do if you are visiting.
Cody Bruce (Cody Bruce)
Great tour!! Learned a lot about Seattle's history
Daniel Nord
The tour was a blast! The entire vibe of the tour and the underground was as you would expect, ominous. Despite the eerie atmosphere, our tour guide did an amazing job of bringing humor and life back into Seattle's history. All the stories were entertaining especially since you were standing where they stood!
Nathan Yang
Excellent tour experience. Our guide, Monica, was an incredible speaker and kept the tour extremely engaging. They were very knowledgeable about the history of Seattle's foundation including Chinatown.
Jason Hill
Such a unique experience.
Monica brought the history to life and walked us through the early history of Seattle in such a way, I felt as if I had been apart of the craziness somehow.
It was not your typical dry historical tour. Monica made it serious and comical all at the same time.
I would highly recommend, Monica and Bill Speidels Underground Tour to anyone looking to see Seattle from the beginning.
Mavourneen Wright
Great tour worth the price! Learned lots of history about Seattle. The tour guides are funny and informative.
Alisa Melnick
Always a great time! I went on this tour when I was in 4th grade and decided to go again with a friend now that I'm 25. We had an absolute blast! The tour was still just as fun as I remember. It's funny, informative, and gives you a real taste of the history of Seattle. My friend grew up across the country and I was born and raised here, but we both had an equally enjoyable time. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone looking to do something fun for an hour or so that's a little bit different. (Especially if you're a history buff or like corny jokes)
Chris Shields
Not only was it historically interesting and was REALLY neat checking out the underground, but what made it 5 stars was our guide. He was funny in the delivery of the information, but passionate about it was well. A must do in Seattle.
Stephanie Bussey-Gutierrez
Monica was a very funny and knowledgeable guide. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour.
Russell Sherman
Fun tour about the history of Seattle. The guide was really funny.
Jennifer Cook
This was fantastic. Our tour guide Calen was very knowledgeable about the history of Seattle and very mindful of making sure we were careful as we walked around the steep staircases. It was a little over an hour but flew by. We bought our tickets in person-make sure you buy them here because they are the original group. There is apparently another group trying to do tours but it isn’t as good and you don’t get to actually see the underground tunnels. We learned a lot about the history of Seattle and got a lot of walking in too!
Yoram Shaked
Guides in this tour are amazing. Great sense of humor while introducing the audience to interesting pieces of history
Buying tickets on premise is cheaper than online due to taxes... odd but true.
JJB 632116
We enjoyed ourselves on this tour. Our guide was very funny and really enjoyed his job. They describe it as walking through the underground tunnels of Seattle. It's actually walking through the basements of a few buildings. It was still neat and we learned some of the Seattle history. There is a large homeless population that resides on the sidewalk near the entrance. For the most part they left you alone but one guy did start bothering people for money. It's worth checking out.
Eric Klingbeil
Great tour about the history underground history of Seattle. The guide was excellent, informed, and entertaining!
Oliver Bersani
Great way to learn the history of Seattle and can be done anytime. Tours take between an hour and an hour and a half, leaving on the hour. Our guides Andi and Angie were very knowledgeable and had answers to most questions
Tristan Rogers
Very interesting tour of the Seattle Underground that used to be and the history surrounding it. Very knowledgeable and engaging tour guide. Would recommend for all ages!
Bo Turner
Amazing tour. Dean was our guide and he was awesome. Very engaging and energetic. They do a great job at presenting the history in a fun and interesting way. It's no boring monologue. Tons of puns, laughs, and knowledge. Timing is great (75 min) and I learned so much about Seattle's history. Great value for the price, $22, highly recommend.
Joni Sepielli
Great historic trip. The underground sits beneath a homeless camp which lends itself to have a less than fresh smell. But in it's own ways, it adds to the lure of the tour.
Jordan Jennings
This tour was phenomenal! Not only did I learn about Seattle’s origin story, but our tour guide Dean was HYSTERICAL. I normally don’t care for the comedy tours, but Dean was brilliant and made the whole experience exceptionally interesting and entertaining.
jim berneike
Our tour guide was quite a character, very theatrical, I really enjoyed the way he brought his story telling to life.
Ken Perna (he him)
Educational, very interesting, and LOL funny!
Rebecca Sewares
Overall it was cool.. I've done some research around Seattle's beginning and have had life long friends, who are descendants of Chief Seattle himself!
One big disappointment was, most of the tour is above ground... Also, I was seriously surprised to hear the tour guide, use the F*** word, more than once!
Kristine Stroad Moore
Interesting to learn some history of Pioneer Square area, and this tour was thorough and well done. There were jokes but none crude, thankfully. We hit three different areas underground, going above ground between -raining, got wet. It was a bit hard to hear at times in our group of any 40 people. Any larger would be too much. This tour us 75 minutes, with first 15 sitting. I think the Groupon tour is shorter. Parking at Butler on James street was very convenient, safe.
Brad Tate
Interesting tour with knowledgeable, exuberant guides. FYI… website says you have to print your tickets… you don’t. Website also says you have to wear a mask. We assumed that was outdated info… it isn’t. Bring a mask or buy one there for $1.
Michael Gallardo
This deserves more than 5 stars. Our guide looked, talked, and acted just like Norm Macdonald and was hilarious and informative. Who knew someone could do a stand up routine all about Seattle? Again, funny and informative. He kept on with the jokes and info along the tour. I'm still not convinced that he isn't Norm.
Shea Riley
We had a great presenter and guide. He made the tour very interesting and we had a blast learning about Seattle's underground tunnels. We also had a beer at the bar waiting for our tour. Staff were friendly.
Jay Neitzel (Uncle Dragon)
Very fun and informative. The guides keep you entertained for sure.
Nidal Hamzey
Historical and informative. Light-hearted and playful. Certainly a fun time. Lots of cool stories to be heard.
Chuks C-M.
Great tour! I got to learn a lot of the history of Seattle through it and I was blown away. The your is very well structured and the guide takes his time to explain every detail and answer questions. I believe every person should try and take this tour at least once, especially if you're new to the city like me!
Kelsy Fletcher
We had Katie for our tour and she was extremely knowledgeable and funny. I loved listening to her tell stories.
The tour was very worthwhile - I had definitely misunderstood how the Underground worked so it was good to get the full context of the place. I'd love to go and do the Seattle Underworld tour when I go back as this includes the more racy stories apparently.
Good gift shop too!
Robert Gough
The sights are nothing special. Dirty brick walls and burnt out debris. It's the story that makes it worthwhile at all - I did learn some new things. Something to do on an afternoon out.
Rubilei Nagum Diaz
Good times! Tour guides were knowledgeable and witty. The history of Seattle turned out to be poopy, fiery, and endearing. The tour takes you up and down and underground downtown (read: stairs!). Would recommend it for all touristy newcomers.
John Coffeen
Great tour guides making Seattle's history interesting.
Emilis Liubinavičius
I am not a big fan of tours and museums but this one deserves a top score. It is not too long, goes fast. Very entertaining, great stories and tells you the history of the city and its development. Well spent hour.
Joe Mariscal
Really liked it. Way to short and hard to relate current orientation until about 1/2 way through. Lisa was good.not loud enough.
Stephen Csicsatka
Worth it. Guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed it very much. A step back in time.
Andrew Mallonee
Great tour, very educational, fun and interesting. Or guide was very entertaining and really made it enjoyable. Thanks for a great experience!
Lily
Staff gets 5 stars but the tour itself leaves much to desire.
Alli Dandeneau
Great experience. The tour guide was great and the sites were amazing.
Elizabeth Waiss
Our tour guide was amazing. She made the experience fun and had great patience with crowd we had. My friends and I had a blast!
For future customers please be considerate and wear your mask correctly, when asked!
Margaret Johnson
Inexpensive and educational. Our tour guide Ally was awesome and very funny. You have to be ok with walking up and down stairs. Lots of walking and standing. Do not do this tour if you are claustrophobic!
Mike LoBue
Awesome hidden history tour. Definitely worth your time. So glad Bill was able to save this area from the condo takeovers.
Amanda Norton
Such a cool experience to do while visiting Seattle! I think I’d love it even more if I were a local! Knowledgeable and entertaining tour guides and such and interesting experience!
Poom Poomer
Full of Seattle’s history !! The most favorite part is the pavement lights underground that shines upon the pathway below, and you still can see people walking up there.
Lida Rael
Omg Layla was amazing!! The tour was fun and very informative. Highly recommend as an adult take the 21 and over tour which is at night and you get an adult beverage! That's the tour I'll be taking next time I visit!
Layla was fun, funny and her pace was on point!
LynnBlag
Loved it! Interesting topics were raised and told but most importantly, the delivery! Mesmerizing storytelling by two guides (sorry, totally forgot their names) made the experience 100 times better!
Anthony (arc050)
One of my favorite things done here in Seattle. I recommend finding time to do this.
Mike Warren
Informative tour mixed with comedy. At 75 minutes it was a good length with lots to experience. I would recommend this for anyone who loves Seattle!
Mark Richard
Our tour guide, Adrian, was great. Fun, entertaining, and even learned some history.
