Delightful way to be introduced to the city of Portland! Both driver and tour guide for our Sunday morning tour were welcoming, informative, interesting, and fun! Our tour appeared to be fully booked, but we still had plenty of room for personal space between each individual. We could hear our guide perfectly through the speakers the entire ride, and we had selected seats in the back. Highly recommend, I can’t imagine seeing Portland any other way!

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Weather was beautiful as they drove us around many historical areas of Portland. Our hostess was so pleasant and was a great speaker as she explained the facts and history of the many locations they took us to. It's so much more interesting & less stressful to take one these tours than to try and drive around yourself. This tour has inspired us to take a trolley tour next time.

The Tour was great. Since we live in the area, it gave us a wonderful perspective of the history of Portland. The 50 minute tour was just the right amount of time on the fire engine (nice touch) and only 13 people! Location for pickup and drop off was perfect. We would highly recommend this tour!

This was the first thing we did when we arrived to Portland. We were so glad that we did! The tour was the perfect length with the perfect amount of information. A really neat way to see the city and get your bearings. The rest of our stay as we walked around the city, it was fun to see the landmarks from the tour and know the story behind them. I would highly recommend this tour!

A must-do tour in Portland. This was our first time visiting Portland. I wasn't sure about doing this tour as sometimes these kinds of tours can be hokey in other places. I am glad we went. If visiting Portland I would recommend doing this first as it highlights landmarks you may want to visit during your stay. The tour guide was great. I would recommend you sit on the LEFT side as you enter the fire engine. Most of the landmarks highlighted and views available were on the right side. I was sitting on the right with my back to these items - it was hard to turn around to see what was being described. There is such interesting and rich history shared, even for locals it would likely be valuable.

This was a really cool tour. It is very small and personal. The tour guide and driver, who is also the owner, are very social and knowledgeable. This is one truck, not a fleet owned by some large company. Paul the tour guide is smart and funny. The trip gives a perfect tour around the town that helps identify spots you may want to visit on foot and the history of the town. Relatively cheap and only an hour and a half out of your day. A must do.

What a fantastic once in a life time experience. This tour is a must if you are visiting Maine! Paul the tour guide is so knowledgeable and has the most amazing sense of humor! Mike the driver had perfect timing and made the ride smooth. All in all we give it 10 stars.

Loved this tour!! The driver was pleasant and the tour narrator was informative and overall, excellent. He kept the tourist engaged and spoke slow enough that you clearly understood him. In about an hour one could get to see a number of important Portland landmarks. Highly recommend this tour!

This was my husband and I's first time in Portland. We found this tour on tripadvisor, and we decided we would try it. It was wonderful! We had a wonderful tour guide, Paul, who was funny but informative. We covered a lot of history, but it was such a great experience. If you haven't been to Portland, or even if you have, I strongly recommend taking a tour!

I loved this tour! Not only is being on the fire engine cool, but the tour guide (sorry I didn't catch her name and there are multiple guides) was so friendly and knew so much cool information! The bus driver is also incredibly nice. I learned so much and had a great time. The tour fits about 10 people maximum, so I like that it is a small intimate group. If it is raining, they will offer a poncho! Furthermore, I lost my earbuds during the tour and after I reached out, they found them and held onto them until I could pick them up!

This was a cool way to see Portland and get some history about the town. There really is only one side of the fire truck to sit on to make it worth your while, though. If you sit on the other side you will be cranking your head while seatbelted in. That side is not a good experience.

Good tour. The perfect amount of time for the toddlers. I took one start away because I feel like it’s over priced for the kids. Mine are three and one and the fact that I even had to pay for them when they sat in our laps the whole time and don’t understand anything they are listening to was kind of silly. It was pretty expensive for what it was after all was said and done.

We took the tour in May. Paul provided excellent, interesting, often personal observations about sites along the way and local places to eat. He supported his comments with pictures on a big screen TV (really helpful!). My wife and I retraced the tour the next day to take more time at many of the spots we saw. We are completely delighted we took the tour. That said, the ride in the back of the fire engine is bumpy in many places (many Portland Streets are uneven - asphalt over cobblestones).

We had never been in Portland, Maine, and decided to take this tour. It is only 50 minutes, but we learned a lot of history and saw locations for pubs and restaurants we wanted to try. It is always good to learn about local spots from locals! The firetruck makes it very unique and there are only spaces for 13 people on board. We enjoyed it!

We had a fantastic time and finished the tour with lunch at no other than iconic J's Oyster where we were not disappointed!!! Great trip overall. Very well organized and well run. The highlight of the trip was the narration of the sights along the way, she brought life to the sights and instilled a real appreciation for the city, she totally made the trip. Only negative was it was hard for me to turn and look at the sights behind me so I did miss some things.

What a delightful tour! Our guide was a native to Portland and had a lot of insight into the history of the city and landmarks and other quirky facts. I would recommend this tour at the beginning of your trip to get some ideas on other places to visit and restaurants to eat. I took the tour at 1pm on 8/24. So much FUN! Our tour guide was absolutely amazing. He added a personal touch that just made the experience so much more special. He showed us where his aunt & uncle live as well as the home of his childhood best friend, he made note of his high school, he pointed out the hospital where he was born and he even showed us the exact spot where he wiped out on his skateboard (Ouch!). Fortunately he's ok! His Portland knowledge was vast and very impressive. This wasn't just a generic script delivered by an actor. Nope! I learned a lot of history and he made it very interactive. The driving was A+ as well. HIGHLY recommend this experience!

We came into Portland for a day and saw the fire truck tour pass by. My 7 yo was excited so we called and booked a tour for a few hours later. The tour was great. The information from a local that was shared was really interesting. I knew we saw things we would not have made it to just driving in our car. I give it 4 stars bc of the rough ride. If you have a bad back, do not take this tour. It is not their fault. I believe it is mainly the roads but it can be painful.

This is a great little tour to take when you first get to Portland. They give lots of ideas of what to do while you are there. It's made for a small group, maybe 12 people at most, so you can ask lots of questions. Great for kids.

I was able to book this tour last minute and hop on. The owner of the firetruck was very kind & professional. It's a snug fit next to everyone but I felt totally comfortable the entire time. The tour guide was really knowledgeable & charismatic which made it an enjoyable experience. I actually learned some interesting facts that I didn't know! And also learned some boring stuff that I didn't necessarily care about. But overall I had a good time and would recommend this tour to anyone.

This fills up fast, and with good reason! We booked online several weeks in advance. We met Dan ahead of the tour when he helped us with a finicky downtown parking meter, then were delighted to learn that he was the narrator for the tour. The weather was perfect! The tour not only highlighted the sights of Portland, but also provided quite a historical perspective as well. We saw the beautiful coastal areas, lighthouses, magnificent homes, amazing architecture, and of course the fire stations, learning their prominent role in Portland's past. Dan is a natural storyteller -- loved the way he introduced the Observatory and its history and significance. The sound system was very good as well. I'm pretty hard of hearing, and the fire truck had speakers at the front and back which really helped me absorb the stories. The truck also includes a display system which provides related information, such as the signal flag system that was used to communicate between incoming ships and the observatory staff. This tour is also very reasonably priced. All in all, one of our favorite experiences during our first-ever sisters trip to Maine!

We loved taking the firetruck tour around Portland! When visiting Portland I would do this first so you can get a good idea for the layout of the city and pinpoint areas that you want to visit. Our tour guide was informative and entertaining. It was very reasonably priced compared to some of the other options.

TL;DR 10/10 I would die for Riley and Frank. Sorry if I spelled your name wrong. Our tour guide was Riley and our driver was Frank and they were both entertaining, knowledgeable and friendly. It was a beautiful day and we learned a lot about Portland and its history, especially as relates to the various fires that helped create the city as it is today. Riley always had a fun comment or factoid about everything we asked about, and his patter and prepared facts were delivered in a natural way that led you to believe that he was just spouting off these facts off-the-cuff. Frank was an excellent driver, and navigated even the rough cobblestone streets of Portland in a way that didn't make me seasick. Highly recommended for any visitor to the city.

Great tour. Loved the information as we drove round. Be prepared to wrap up when going this season, but they do provide firemen's coats to cover you. Quirky way to see Portland. A wonderful city to visit.

Great tour of Portland on a vintage fire truck. The Tour Guide, Riley, was very personable and knowledgeable. The truck does not hold a lot of people so everyone is closer to the guide and you can not only hear him very easily but you can also ask questions easily and he is very good about answering. Being on top of the truck gives a great vantage, and there's a Bimini top overhead which gives shade from the sun. Probably won't keep you totally dry in the rain though. Overall I highly recommend it.

What a fun and insightful tour about the city of Portland. Vintage ride was the icing on the cake. But the real treat was having a Portland native give his personal insights in a fun and engaging way. Loved his asking for our “guesses”.

Glenn, our guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and funny. He tailored the tour to the the people on the tour and based on the weather (it was very foggy). The pictures off his iPad which he displayed on a tv for all to see really enhanced the tour experience. He had great suggestions on further sightseeing ideas giving my family ideas on what areas of Portland we wanted to further explore. My 11 year old girls couldn't stop talking about this tour and said it was their favorite part of the day!

Then there is the tour guide - she is a walking encyclopedia about Portland and brings the stories across so sympathetically.
