An excellent adult activity in Philly!! During this tour, I learned so many new things about Philadelphia, and heard a couple good ghost stories too. The places we visited for food/drink were all really nice and the tastings were plentiful and delicious. City Food Tours were serious in the description of the tour when they say to come with an empty stomach. Our guide, Steve, was very knowledgeable of the history of Philadelphia, and was happy to answer all of our questions along the way. My friend (who accompanied me) and I were lucky to have a very nice couple as the other two people in our tour group. It was a lot of fun and by the end of the tour, it felt as if we had spent the evening out with friends. Take this tour, you will love it.

Just finished our first "Flavors of Philly" City Food Tour with Matt. We enjoyed our little bit of history of Philly, the variety of foods and why those who live here love them, and the true passion of our guide. We were a group from "around the world" and appreciated how Matt was very easy to talk to, knew his facts, and made us all feel like valued customers. He was also super organized and ready to help with any dietary restrictions or mobility restrictions if needed. Philly did not disappoint!

Matt took a few of us from work on this amazing tour! We had people from all over and it was informative, safe and so much fun! I did eat too much and waddled home but it was so much fun! I booked a group tour for a work outing and it was fantastic. Our group had some out-of-town team members and many Delaware Valley locals, and we all learned new things about Philadelphia and its iconic dishes. We also visited some excellent restaurants and were completely stuffed by the end of the tour. Matt was a great, engaging guide and I will absolutely be doing another City Food Tour in the future!

Adam our guide was great - personable & engaging. Very knowledgeable in terms of why Philly is known for certain foods like the tomato pie and the infamous Philly Cheesesteak. He even knew about the history of shops like Insomnia Cookies that wasn’t on our tour! He was able to mix in history like why Pennsylvania is built on a grid system with why Macy’s in The Wanamaker building has a working pipe organ to why certain foods became what they’re known for today. He even has a running list of places to eat in various cities much like some of my friends and I do! What’s best about this tour is that you eat where the locals do and not all the tourist spots. That’s how you get the authentic taste of any city and more reasonable prices. One famous tour guide always says - eat where the locals do. This rule has never failed me and this tour did not disappoint.

Our guide, Owen, was personable and knowledgeable about the food, the city, and the history. He had personal anecdotes that were also enjoyable. He arrived at the meeting place several minutes early, and set a good pace for the group. The foods sampled were a good mix and very relevant to the city, and of good quality. I like the way the sampling was spaced out so we weren't too full from one tasting before we had the next stop. The tour exceeded my expectations, and Owen was a great ambassador.

My family of five had a great time with Kaitlyn P as our tour guide on Saturday July 23 in Philly, it was an incredibly hot and sweaty day but she made the most of it and we enjoyed her history lesson! She was professional and informative. We loved the tour of Del Fresco's and have added that to our bucket list of places we must eat at one day!

Enjoyed the tour (even my 16 year old had fun). Food was delicious. Adam (our tour guide) interacted in a meaningful way with everyone in the group. Come hungry - you'll get 2 appetizer size items, half a cheese steak, and 2 desserts. I lived in Philly for 25 years and even I learned something. The only issue was we had is our guide said to show a picture of his tour shirt and the cookie company for a discount and they didn't know anything about it. Great way to spend a beautiful late fall afternoon.

My husband and I took the Flavors of Philly Food Tour with City Food Tours in August 2021. We had a great time - our guide Kaitlin was excellent, very friendly and personable and had alot of Philly pride! All of the food was fantastic - tomato pie, soft pretzel, cookie, donut and of course a philly cheesesteak. Highly recommend this tour!

A big thank you to Kaitlyn for our Sunday 11/6/22 tour. We decided to do this as part of Drexel parents weekend- and it was awesome! A nice BIG sampling of Philly’s goodies included tomato pie, cheesesteak, Philly hot pretzels, and awesome sweet treats. Had a fantastic tour with Owen on Black Friday 2019. Tomato pie, soft pretzels, cheese steak, cookies, and a donut. We liked all the food options and definitely felt we ate the equivalent of a good meal. The vegetarian alternative for the cheese steak (for my friend) was delicious. Owen included many historic tidbits as we walked around downtown. Including a pitstop in an old bank that's been turned in to a high-end restaurant. We went downstairs and saw the giant old vault. Would recommend. Great value for the cost.

Today I went on the walking gourmet food tour and it was absolutely AMAZING!! Our tour guide Matt was simply the BEST! He knew the area so well, he was fun and inviting and thought of everything we might need or want for our time together and I couldn’t have enjoyed his company more! We toured the Reading Terminal food market and learned so many interesting facts about the building and the history of Philadelphia in general. We met some amazing food vendors and of course ate delicious food! The day flowed so well with walking, learning and eating…of course thanks to Matt. I particularly enjoyed the cheese tasting of the tour, not just because cheese is probably my favorite thing to eat but because of the beautiful setting it was in and all the things I learned about cheese and how it’s made. I really enjoyed my time and I am so happy I did it!!! Thank you Matt!

Our tour started at Liberty Place where Adam was well prepared and provided everyone with water. First stop was for tomato pie. The location was excellent - we had a private room and lots of time to get to know our group members and to hear a bit of history of Philadelphia. One suggestion here would be to tell the group a bit about the Indigenous peoples who lived on the land before the settlers came. Next stop was for a traditional soft pretzel. Our 3rd stop was for philly cheese steak sandwiches and fries with whiz (odd, but interesting). On our way to dessert offerings at Reading Terminal, we stopped at the Wanamaker Building which was beautiful and we got to see the organ and the Eagle. Adam was knowledgeable about all types of foods in Philly and was friendly, providing advice on other places to eat in Philly beyond the tour. The donut and the chocolate chip cookie at the Reading Terminal were both delicious and it was a great place to end the tour. Highly recommend this food tour.

We did the Decant Food Tour on a Saturday afternoon with our son and a friend, both students at Penn. Our tour guide, Stephen, was excellent at describing the different vendors. He talked about the locations, the owners of the restaurants/food stalls, the type of food and historical information along the way from stop to stop. The description of the tour and all directions from City Food Tours were excellent. It was PLENTY of food for us! I would like it if the tour was given earlier in the day, but I understand that the locations would be more crowded at that time. This was our second tour with City Foods and I highly recommend them to others.

I went on two tours (Old City Happy Hour and Decadent Gourmet) using a gift certificate and both were great overall. The former was my favorite because we were served more food, drinks, and the walk was shorter. The latter was also good; however, it included an odd stop at Del Friscos. We weren’t served any food there and instead just walked around people actually dining and were encouraged to make reservations on our way out- it was weird and uncomfortable. The guides for both tours were great, very knowledgeable and personable, and all the food was delicious.

Took the Gourmet food tour with Steve. My party of five ended up being the only members of the tour so that felt exclusive and fun. We ate corn dogs/cheese curds first and they were salty and crisp. So good. Next we got middle eastern fare that was savory and fresh. Next was a whoopie pie that was moist and chocolaty. After leaving Reading Terminal we got toured around and learned some fun historical details! Then we had a cheese tasting that had some funky cheese options. A fun experience! Lastly we ended with a delicious salty and sweet treat. Excellent tour, well timed, not overly exerting, delicious food choices. Would recommend!

We chose the decadent food tour. It was absolutely fascinating to learn about interesting bits of Philadelphia's history and food culture. Though we signed up for the group tour, we had the tour to ourselves, which was really cool. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who is looking to try something new. Matt was a fantastic tour guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable about a wide variety of topics including local history, and was an extremely charismatic tour guide. The food offered on his decadent gourmet tour was so good that I went back and visited one of the restaurants (Fox and Sons) the following day! In addition to some incredible bites, we were taken on a tour through Philadelphia and were educated on some of the interesting historical aspects of the city, something that I didn’t expect but was very happy to learn about. All in all this tour is a must if you plan on visiting Philadelphia, as it is incredibly worthwhile if you are new to the city.

Such a great experience. This was my last tour in Philly for the week and it was a great experience, we tried pizza, pretzels and visited some pretty cool places. As Philly locals, we don't often do tours in the city, but we're so glad we got a gift card to take this one! We ended up trying food from vendors we hadn't tried before in Reading Terminal Market and learned about it's history that we hadn't known before. The few stops we made between there and Di Bruno Bros. were very interesting as well. And it's always great to try new cheeses at Di Brunos. Our final stop at Metropolitan Bakery was a great way to end the tour. Steve was an excellent tour guide and gave great information and made sure we were all taken care of during the tour.

He provided each person with a bottle of water, had hand sanitizer ready at each stop, told us what food we would be tasting and where the best restroom stop would be. Additionally, he planned stops at a few places that, while not food oriented, were very interesting historically. Matt is very knowledgeable and clearly loves Philly.

Right off the bat when we met our tour guide Adam we could feel this was going to be fun...and it sure was! We planned this day to celebrate our son's 35th birthday. We opted for the Flavors of Philly tour since it felt like it would fit his "vibe'. We kicked off our day at Joe's Pizza with group introductions and a slice of tomato pie. This was seriously DELISH! We then headed to the Philadelphia Pretzel Factory where we got to enjoy fresh, warm pretzels right out of the oven. While we were eating Adam shared interesting history about how these became a Philly favorite. Adam kept us going and next we landed at Zios for some crispy fries with "WIZ" and a super yummy cheesesteak. The roll was SO fresh and it was cooked to perfection. With full bellies we headed over to City Hall and learned a lot about its history along with some fun facts. After a brief tour of the old Wanamaker's (now Macy's) department store we walked to Reading Terminal Market. "Spoiled for choice" is a quote that comes to mind for the vast number of eateries here! This was our dessert destination and sadly our final stop. We all got fresh, warm chocolate chip cookies from the 4th Street Cookie Company followed by to die for glazed donuts from Beiler's Donuts! Our family loved this experience and we thank Adam for being a great tour guide! This will be something we would do again for sure!

I'll start with the positive... We had a great time on the Ethnic Eats tour. Our tour guide, Eric, was full of knowledge and told some very interesting stories about the city. The food was yummy and it was a neat opportunity to get to tour a Buddhist temple and the Asian market. Now for the negative... it was a struggle to actually get a tour scheduled that wasn't cancelled. Over 2 months, we tried scheduling multiple tours that would ultimately end up getting cancelled. This happened 3 times. In the end, we had to settle for our second choice for the food tour since the hot and spicy tour was cancelled over and over. As someone coming from out of town specifically for this experience, it was extremely frustrating when we would be told that our tour was cancelled once again and we could just pick a different tour that weekend as if we didn't have any other commitments. I honestly started to feel like they didn't care about the customer since they already had the money in their pocket (we had received a gift certificate to use for the tour, which we were told had to be used this season). I'm just happy that we actually got to use the gift certificate. We were starting to lose hope.

We had a great time on our Taste of Philly food tour. If you like to try a little of everything, this is a great way to do it! Our tour guide, Matt, was very informative about the food, the locations, and local history relevant to the tour. I felt like we got a lot of food on the tour, and my boyfriend and I left full. We had a slice of tomato pie, a pretzel, a cheesesteak and cheese fries, and two amazing desserts ( a cookie and a truffle) from Reading Terminsl Market. We also made some quick stops like in Macy’s and Del Friscos, which really broke up the tour nicely. The only slightly negative piece of our tour was due to late arrivals by some of the other guests. Matt kept our tour right on time, and this was mainly an inconvenience for him, but he handled it well. Show up on time. There’s a group of people waiting for you! Overall, we had a good time and would plan another tour through City Food Tours. Thanks, Matt!

The food was amazing the tomato pie and the pretzels were out of this world. One of the vendors did not open for the tour, so Steve was able to expertly improvise and show us other cool things along the route.
