We loved our History and Haunts Carriage Ride in New Orleans on September 16th! Emily and Cloudy were amazing guides with a wealth of information. It was the BEST tour we had been on (and we had been on several!) The small group intimate setting provided an opportunity to ask questions comfortably. Having the mule ride gave us a closer look at several sites we had only heard about on other tours, such as the Ursuline Convent. Thank you for providing this wonderful adventure. We were also pleased to hear the care that the mules are given and the high standards you set for their care.

We had a great experience! Matt and Miss Kentucky are a wonderful match. We learned so much history about the French Quarter from a true local. Great experience. Small group and had a relaxing feel. They stopped at many of the major haunted houses and bars. The guide went of some of the history of the city and French quarters. The only issue was that many of the stops had other guides there making it harder to hear what our guide was saying.

We ended up taking a tour on one of Royal Carriages mule-drawn carriages on a whim, and it ended up being a real highlight. Our tour guide (who was originally from Seattle where my partner and I were visiting from) was thoroughly amusing while telling historic stories about the (allegedly) haunted buildings in the area. Getting to see some of the farther out parts of NOLA (such as Frenchman street) while also getting to rest from a long day of walking was a real treat.

Mac was welcoming, funny, and knowledgeable. This was a great first time experience for us and we enjoyed Mac and Ms. Kentucky. We took the hour tour on 10/25/22. Definitely worth the money! Added pics of Ms. Kentucky, the LAST bank Bonnie and Clyde robbed, and a uniquely built Cornstalk Hotel. Lots of history, music, and fun in NOLA!!!! We’ll be back!

Our mule was named Cole, and our tour driver was Mark. They were both fabulous, and the tour was comfortable, informative, and fun. We learned so much about New Orleans today. I would really recommend this trip if only to get a good idea of what the city has to offer.

During a trip to New Orleans, we booked an hour-long carriage ride with Charlie P. and Moon through Royal Carriages. Charlie was the BEST! He was so knowledgeable about the area and his genuine love for the city was evident. He shared parts of the city that we wouldn't have explored on our own. We made a special memory on our 23rd anniversary riding with Jonathan the afternoon of June 26th. He and Cloudy gave me and my husband the full tour with all the history of New Orleans. He was quite the storyteller and kept us laughing! Kudos to Jonathan! Great experience!

This excursion occurred during our last day in New Orleans and on our actual anniversary day. We enjoyed a nice and hot afternoon carriage ride through various parts of New Orleans and the Marigny neighborhood. Jonathan and his wife were hilarious. He was an excellent tour guide, he told us about the history of the neighborhood and some history of New Orleans as well as black history which I can appreciate. If we're ever in New Orleans again I would definitely do another carriage ride, he was nice, relaxing and very informative. Also always remember to tip your guides because they are good at what they do.

Great way to see the French Quarter! My wife, our friend, and I decided to take the tour and we were so glad that we did. It was nice to just slowly ride around the neighborhood and take in the sights and history. I highly recommend starting your visit to the French Quarter off with this tour and then you know where you want to go on foot when you get done.

Really enjoyed our history and ghost story tour. We did this on our last full day but would have been a great way to start our New Orleans vacation. The tour goes through some must see areas and pointed out a few places that I am sad I missed on this trip. Great way to learn more about the area and its spooky past. Definitely recommend👍.

I had a blast learning the history of The French Quarters and New Orleans my driver was amazing she was detailed with the stories and made New Orleans intriguing. This was my 1st carriage ride so I didn't know what to expect, next time I will bring a blanket it was a bit chilly on my night. I enjoyed my short bond with Cosmo and learning the difference between Mules and Horses. Thank you for a great night!! I will be back

What a great experience! Went with my son, daughter-in-law and 11 month old granddaughter. The baby totally loved seeing the horses and the ride through downtown seeing the attractions. The carriage driver was knowledgeable and gave some great information on the sights. I’m so glad we had the experience and we can’t wait to go again next year. So happy this is offered on this side of the lake!

Absolutely recommended! Taking a 1 hour tour around New Orleans at night is so wonderful and relaxing. Also, the history of New Orleans is also rich. I can't remember our tour guide's name, but our mule's name was Desire. Both did an excellent job and I would go again just for the ambience.

My wife and I are I are in New Orleans for our anniversary; she wanted to take a carriage ride and do the haunted tour, well guess what? We did both, we took the hour long carriage ride and ghost tour. It was fantastic. Our tour guide ✅Lucas and his partner Praline, took on a wonderful tour of the French Quarter.✅ We toured the querer in style and our guide was quite the story teller. TY for a great tour and I definitely recommend you checking out the tour; in the heart of Jackson square. Tell them your mustache man sent you. 5 out of five mustaches.

We recently did the night ghost and history tour through Royal Carriages with Lucas our driver and Praline the mule. What a FUN and memorable experience! Lucas kept us laughing the whole time while also spilling all the spooky tea. And we all left singing 🎶 Come on Praline, Don’t make me sing, You’re a MUuLe, you’re a mule! Mule! Mule! 🎶 10 out of 5 would recommend!!! Give Lucas a bonus!!

My nephew and his wife flew down from Wisconsin for the week. My boyfriend and I have been in Alabama since December and are staying until March. We drove over there which was a very long drive but so very worth it. It was a great experience. The driver was very knowledgeable about New Orleans. The horse ride was fabulous, he was humorous, he just made it a wonderful experience. We are going to be coming back here for next winter and we definitely plan on going back there and doing it again. Remember everybodyTIP YOUR DRIVERS. This is their livelihood. If you get a chance to do this it is an experience you’ll never forget

Marty and Blaze were wonderful. It’s apparent that Marty loves this city as he was quite knowledgeable about its history, culture and architecture. A lot of questions I had about the city’s history and diversity we’re finally put to rest. Blaze is a beautiful and graceful creature. She navigated the busy streets at a nice gentle pace. Charlie P and Moon the mule were great hosts. Charlie is really hospitable and very friendly. Going along with the family I wasn't very interested in the ride, but meeting Charlie changed my perspective. His stories and knowledge were almost as interesting as his personality. We asked specifically for Marty and Fiona to take us on a one hour tour and we weren't disappointed. Marty knew his stuff. We really enjoyed learning so much about the architecture and customs of the French Quarter and Marigny neighborhoods. He showed us the best jazz clubs and great restaurants. Great experience!

A must-do in NOLA! Our originally booking got cancelled due to the heat. We were able to rebook the following day, despite some rain. The tour guide was nice enough to mix scary facts with history for us (we originally booked the scary tour and got put with a group who was there for the French Quarter tour). Our guide and our mule were absolutely lovely and it was wonderful experiencing the city in a different way, and a way reminiscent of how early New Orleanians made their way around town. 5/5!!!

Fun ride with James who was well versed in his NOLA history. Liked this better than the walking tour we took a few years ago, although you don't get to stop at the bars. Even got to hear James tell off some young PETA idiots at the end who yelled at us but had no idea how well treated these mules are.

Wonderful and informative tour of The French Quarter and outlying areas. We stayed in the carriage for the duration of the ride, which was pretty bumpy at times due to the street conditions. We learned a lot during the ride, and our guide Sarah offered to answer any questions that we had. It was heavily centered around haunted places and the history of them. We also learned of the supposed origin of vampirism, which was very interesting. The seats on the carriage aren't the most comfortable, but all in all, it was a great time!!

Leeman and Footloose made it a great trip. We had a private tour booked but they put us in a big carriage instead of the 4 seater. We didn’t know which tour to do, and Leeman suggested the History and Haunts tour. It was wonderful! Though the scariest thing, at least according to Footloose, is a pothole on Madison.

Jonathan knew everything about New Orleans and the French Quarter and was very entertaining. Our mule, Coca-Cola was great and did his part well. Coca-Cola has been on the job only 5 weeks but handled it well. Give these guys a try for a great tour.

This was a fabulous haunted tour through some picturesque, less traveled parts of the French Quarter. Our tour guide Matt was knowledgeable, funny, and entertaining, and his lovely mule Miss Kentucky was incredibly surefooted, which made for a super smooth ride. I’d recommend going after dark. We went at 9 pm, and it made the experience appropriately creepy. My husband and I took our 15-year-old daughter, and she also loved the tour. We’d do it again!

Great tour! Our tour guide Lucas was super fun, informative, and engaging. I definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in the haunted/ ghost stories surrounding New Orleans. I personally don’t even believe in ghosts but even I was still entertained plus we did the 10:30pm ride so the atmosphere was quiet and dark to fit the mood. And the mules and carriage are a fun bonus to the adventure.

Our carriage tour was amazing! We had such a great time. Our driver, KJ, was wonderful. He was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the French Quarter. He also knew quite a lot about the locations each one of us in the group came from. He answered all our questions and was very entertaining. Our mule house, Lou, was the sweetest girl. She was so smart and pretty. The ride itself was awesome. The Quarter is so beautiful and it was such a great experience seeing it from that perspective. I would recommend that anyone visiting New Orleans take this tour. You'll learn so much and you can't beat seeing the beauty of the French Quarter from a carriage.

Ages 2-76. If you’re looking for something to entertain your 2 year old and elderly parents, minus the expansive walk around the French Quarter, then this is a perfect option. After booking I received an email confirming children under 4 is free. Huge plus because it was the week after mardigras, I knew the company shuts down for a few days to rest. Check in was a breeze. KJ was polite and super helpful in getting us to the correct carriage. Arriving 30mins early, we were thrilled to have Cosmo as our mule, he was given tons of awesome reviews from our research prior to booking. We loved the sightseeing route and the information our tour guide provided. The only reason it’s not a 5 star was because our guide never acknowledged that my family of 6 was in the carriage. He spoke directly to the couple in the front row and never bothered to ask if we could hear him during the ride. He also had Q&A with the other group. Maybe he couldn’t hear our questions so we basically felt like we were eves dropping throughout the tour. He was very knowledgeable but would have preferred a better treatment. Overall a good experience & will refer friends and family.

Skip the walking tours. Enjoy the beauty of the Quarter and creepy stories from a mule drawn carriage instead. Shannon, our driver, was friendly and knowledgeable…. It was quite clear he loves the Quarter and Ranger, the mule, is care for very well. My BF ( who was skeptical ) and I had a great time. Well worth the money.

We had an amazing tour in New Orleans on the Haunted Carriage ride. It was an hour tour. Our guide took us throughout the French Quarter showing us the various buildings and the history of who lived, died and the ghosts and vampires at the various buildings. He was absolutely great with the details. It was really great. I would go again.

Took the Haunted tour with Shannon and Rancher the mule, and had an excellent time! Shannon's love for and knowledge of the history of New Orleans was exactly what we want in a tour. The ghost stories enhanced the richness of the city's history and focused on places associated with apparitions, not just creepy places. We would definitely recommend taking this tour, and we hope to visit and take this tour again soon.

We took the 10:30 Ghost tour- as soon as everyone was seated we jumped into the "Dark Side" of NOLA. We had a clear, cold night and the moon was almost full- perfect backdrop for our excursion. Our guide (Lucas and mighty Praline) did a great job, knew their history on each haunted tale, and made the whole experience memorable. There were a couple of times I swear you could feel the evil entity of each story enter our carriage and gaze upon our crew as to see who would be next! Matter of fact, we went by the oldest building in the French Quarter and at least twice we actually heard.... Well, I'm not gonna give it away! You'll have to see for your self. My wife and I were walking along the river side of Jackson Square. We wanted to take a carriage ride, but had an appointment in the JAX building so it had to be later. We struck up a conversation with Charley and we met his mule Moon. We thought there would be five of us. His carriage is designed for four, but we figured we could all fit. After taking care of business, the other three went elsewhere, so we went back to Jackson Square, located Charley and Moon, and took off for a one-hour tour of the French Quarter and neighboring areas. Charley was raised in NOLA just north of the Quarter. He's been a chef at Brennan's and a couple other places, and he knows the restaurants, food, clubs, buildings, history (including things that happened in his youth), and the people and celebrities. Our ride was absolutely fascinating! It was fun watching Moon negotiate the vehicular and pedestrian traffic. He (or she?) knew the route very well, and only once had to be directed away from the turn toward the barn. All fun to watch. We can highly recommend Royal Carriages tours, and especially Charley and Moon. Five Stars!!!

Wonderful experience! The driver was very knowledgeable of history and was kind enough to take pics for us. Patsy Cline was our Mule and she was wonderful! As an equestrian myself I tend to look at the animals before I participate in something like this. Making sure they are well cared for. All of their mules looked great! We had a wonderful time on our tour with Rory ( I hope that’s right;) and Ivan her mule. We booked a private tour since there’s 5 of us and it was close to the same price as booking 5 seats on one of their other tours. We requested history and haunts. We had 3 kids with us 4,10,and 12 and they all loved it. They all thought it was fun and a little creepy which was exactly what we wanted. Our guide was really sweet and worked great with her mule. We went on the 1-hour carriage ride. Our departure time was 9pm. Once we took off, our guide was almost, he provided us with so many stories and great sites to see. Doing the nighttime ride add to the stories. Highly recommend during your visit. Because of this tour, we had amazing burgers at Clover Grill ( note: they do not accept cash and is open 24 hours ). Then we had a Hurricane at the Blacksmith Bar, both at the end of Bourbon Street.

If you’re in NOLA This is a must see after a day of adventuring. I cannot remember our guides name, but he was AWESOME!!! He and Ginger ( his 4 legged companion) did amazing!!! She made the ride so much fun and really took the time to make sure everyone on the carriage had a pleasant experience. The history and nuisance of the ghost tours were amazing it's definitely an experience worth trying and hopefully you'll get Sara or at least another guide just as great!

Great experience and as for me and the wife best money spent of the week! Mark O. our guide and carriage driver was fantastic. The man provided history on the city far greater than we expected. Much better historian than comedian but he tried! Finally Cole our mule was gentle and allowed pictures when the ride was over. Royal carriage has the best price in town and provided us with an awesome experience. We would definitely reccomend and plan on returning in the future for another tour.

We took a carriage tour with Lucy and Marie yesterday. We initially had a little trouble contacting the company to book the earliest ride, so we booked a later one online. They reached back out and changed our reservation to the first available time that accommodated our trip much better. The tour was very informative and it was a great way to see the area without being completely worn out in the summer heat. She even accommodated my fussy 2 month old who did not enjoy the carriage stopping 😅 We had a great time and would definitely recommend them to others.

This is the second time I get to ride with Lucy and Marie the mule and it was absolutely amazing all over again!! Lucy is so animated and hilarious it is definitely worth the ride, because it is the perfect balance of wonderful New Orleans history and laughs. Marie Laveau the mule is so sweet and has her own quirky personality, it is absolutely astonishing! You can definitely tell Lucy has a way with not only the tourist, but with animals as well, as her love for animals shines through and you can see it with how her and her mule bond!!! We loved it!!!

Magnolia, the mule, is so smart and didn't seem to need the driver at all but I'm sure that's a testament to excellent team work between the driver and Magnolia. The company also called us before hand to make sure we knew how to get there or had any questions. They certainly didn't have to do that and could have hoped for no shows or late arrivals and just take the money. One of the best ways you can tour the French Quarter without having to walk everywhere! We rode with Desire the mule, and unfortunately I forgot the tour guide’s name. Desire was quite a show the night we rode with her, she definitely has a mind of her own, but such a beautiful animal. The tour guide was very informative and took us around all the historic landmarks in the French Quarter, and so much to learn from her. She shared some historic haunts, and she seemed to know so much about each building we saw.

My family loved it except for one thing. They desperately need a mic and speakers. It’s a small investment but it will give the customers a better experience. I was in the third row and it was hard to hear at times. It must’ve been impossible to hear in the fourth row. Shanin was a great tour guide. He was cool and took pauses at all the right moments. He made it fun to ride the carriage. I will do the tour again but sit in the front if there is no audio system. Overall, we enjoyed it and had a good time.

I got to go to parts of the city I hadn’t been to before and the history my driver gave to us was fascinating. The guide was knowledgeable and a sweetheart. The overall experience was truly memorable and satisfying. The only issue was my wife and I being tourists were adjusting to the new orleans culture.We were a bit late to appointment due to no place to park as well as slow moving traffic and pedestrians. Almost were left and told we may lose our money. However we made it just as the carriage was pulling off. This would have been devastating seeing that we were celebrating my wife's birthday driving from 12 hours away. There should be a 15 min grace period to allow for tourist adapting to the area. Besides this the overall experience was great.

Great history and sights to see. Your host will tell you all about the history of the buildings that you will see. Also where some of the best spots in the city to eat and hear music. History of the people as well. We had a wheel that the track came off so that is the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 . It did take a little away from our tour. Otherwise would recommend it, great fun.

I cannot express enough how awesome and informative this History and Haunts tour was. It was so interesting. Lemen was our guide and he was AMAZING. He knows his stuff so well that he welcomes people to double check it. I booked this tour before my trip. I sent a message before hand asking if all 5 members of the party would be able to ride on the same carriage. This was well after hours. I received an automated message letting me know it was after hours and someone would respond the next business day. It wasn't even 30 minutes later that I received a message from an actual human assuring me that that would happen. I also got a call a few hours before the tour just making sure that we only had 5 in the group so that we could be accommodated. That is amazing to me especially in a world where most people don’t seem to care very much about others anymore let alone quality in a business. You can tell these guys love their animals, respect these animals, love their job and LOVE their city. The carriage ride itself was suitable for the occasion and the tour guide did his job exactly as he should have- which was to ensure a fun, positive experience. However, the stories told were obviously far-fetched from the truth despite being a "true story." The carriage ride was an hour long which allowed the tour to only travel several blocks to see A FEW historical landmarks (buildings) and hearing about their history. I can say I did it once but most likely won't do it again.

We visited NOLA and saw these carriages and knew we had to do one. You just walk up and ask to ride and they'll tell you all about the rates (we paid $60 a piece for an hour long). You can get a private carriage for more money, but we chose to wait for more riders. Two other people joined us eventually and we were off. Our guide was Lucy and her mule is Marie and they were amazing. Super knowledgeable and funny too! I highly suggest doing this, you'll learn so much more about the city and the history, and Lucy was awesome! Plus her mule was decorated for mardi gras which was some added fun. Definitely check them out.

We had a splendid time with Kaycee and Blondie last night! It was a wonderful tour and we learned so much on the history of New Orleans. Kaycee's stories were engaging, fun, and we spent the rest of the evening talking about the haunted stories we learned of. The tour was well worth the money and we'll do it again when we come back!

The ride was comfortable and informative. It did end a little early and when paying 60.00 a person for a family of five you really like to get every minute of what you are promised. The only issue was the three wheel vehicles that were parked near the carriages. The city really should limit the volume of the music coming from those machines. They were very disruptive to our trip in general but dangerous for the mules, carriage drivers and passengers.

He had been doing this for about 10 years and introduced us to Pearl, the mule and allayed any worries about her ability to haul a full carriage of tourists. We had an enjoyable trip through the French Quarters today. It’s Monday so it wasn’t overly crowded. Our guide was so nice and gave us tips on several restaurants. I loved her presentation and even learned a few things about the Quarters I didn’t know. Everyone should take the carriage ride at least once, it gives you and overview on what you need or want to explore. No problem getting booked and we got right on when the time came, no waiting(very important to me). 5Stars all the way!

5 stars even though we didn't tour... we purchased tickets a few weeks before our tour date. The weather was terrible the day of our tour and it was cancelled. I was notified very early in the day with a text and a call, and we were given the option for an immediate refund, or to try to catch a ride at any time on our vacation that was easy for us, no matter the day or time. Because of our schedule, we were unable to attend, and got a full refund 2 days later. Rating 5 stars because I appreciate that kind of customer service.

Everything about the experience was great! We purchased our tour online in advance. It was easy and problem free! Email confirmations and reminders made everything easy to find. We provided the confirmation email in person at the corner of Jackson Square, and our carriage was ready early! It was raining, and the carriage was covered, so that was a nice surprise! The seats were soooo comfy too! Lofton was our guide and Po’Boy our mule. Lofton was warm and personable. He remembered each of our names and used them frequently to personalize the experience. We had my 75 y/o father, 14 y/o daughter, and me and my husband. Lofton found ways to bring each of us into the conversations and stories. He told stories that included interesting information about history, culture, and the architecture of the area. From start to finish, we all had a great experience! I’d absolutely do it again next time we are in town, and I highly recommend Royal Carriages!
