Reviews of Visit Fargo-Moorhead

North Dakota Welcome Center Walk of Fame
This is a great place to stop and stretch your legs and walk around and see the famous wood chipper from the movie Fargo or at least a replica. My understanding is the real one is located in the building building but was closed when we visited
Sean Devlin
Great place to acclimate to Fargo and North Dakota. Extremely friendly and helpful service. Also a great place to pick up your 50th state visit t-shirt - Save the Best For Last!
Berry Metzger
A must-see visitors center with the original wood shredder from the movie Fargo. Good selection of items to buy to remember Fargo... I'm a visitor. Also, outside is a Walk of Fame of personalities who visited Fargo long ago. Interesting.
Joceline Lopez
Definitely the highlight of Fargo was stopping at the visitors center here. We prepared the night before by watching the film Fargo. We spoke to Wynne here and she had a lot of knowledge.
Of course you have to take photos with the wood chippers :) they had some memorabilia from the movie as well.
You can pick up a booklet of where to find the painted Bison 🦬 around the city as well, they’re all painted very uniquely.
Karissa Parker
A must-see visitors center with the original wood chipper from the movie Fargo. Lots of shirts and magnets to choose from if you want a a little something to remember Fargo. Also, outside there is a Walk of Fame of personalities who visited Fargo which consists of their hand/foot prints and signatures in the sidewalk.
Mandy Young
The visitor's center was clean and welcoming. Of course we had to get a pic with the wood chipper from Fargo! The restrooms were in great shape, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Sheri Lucas
Lots of information at this visitor’s site! The host was very knowledgeable. There were lots of pamphlets for the area as well as North Dakota; of course the wood chipper is a must photo op!
janice johnson
Knowledgeable staff. On our quest to visit all 50 states. N.Dakota #45. Heading south for 4 more on way to Alabama.
Jordan L
Enjoyed the Geocaching Geo tour and the adventure with my son. We saw so much in the Valley over the weekend.
Kenneth Clayton
The Fargo - Moorhead visitors center, was just a last minute thought. Little did we know, they'd have a reputation as being the last stop on people's 50th state visited. My family and I were visiting our 50th state. Yes, we've finally done them all. The staff were thrilled at this, they gave us certificates, and tee shirts. Fargo was a great town, you don't necessarily have to save it for last, but if you do. You know where to go.
Cheers
Adam Nichols
The Fargo-Moorhead Visitor's Center and Celebrity Walk of Fame are definitely worth stopping by to visit while in Fargo or passing through town. They have a glass case full of props (from the film) including an original script and the famous woodchipper itself - used in the film and signed by the directors: Joel and Ethan Coen.
Cindy Ternes
Fun day at the St. Patricks Day Parade today
Kristi Thurmon
What a quirky, fun place! I have never seen the movie Fargo, but it is on my list now! The wood chipper from the movie is in the visitor’s center. There are some cute souvenirs in the gift shop. There was a lady there who was visiting her 50th state. She got a t-shirt and they took a photo of her in front of a big sign about visiting your 50th state. Apparently many people save North Dakota as their last one to visit? Who knew? Anyway - there’s also a cool archaeology exhibit, a painted bison and an obscure Walk of Fame. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

We went here for a picnic with our dog, so we didn't go inside
There are large tables under the pavilion and smaller tables near by. It appears that there's even electricity at the pavilion but we didn't test.
It was immaculate with convenient trash cans. We enjoyed exploring the wood chipper, bison, and the signed stones. A small playground would have been even nicer but the kids enjoyed rolling on the grass and being put in the chipper.
Lorri Fechtman
It is worth the quick stop if you are fan of the movie Fargo. It was neat to see the memorabilia from the movie and the wood chipper. It is worth noting, depending on how you feel about COVID, there was an employee with a hacking cough and no mask. I didn't linger.
Lois Kriegh
Clean rest stop. The wood chipper from the movie Fargo and other memorabilia are on display. The ladies working there were very nice and helpful.
Logan Edwards
Souvenirs, information, and the woodchipper from the movie 'Fargo'. What more could you need? :)
Tara H
Date of Visit: 10/13/2019 - I would definitely recommend visiting here if you're an out-of-towner. We stopped here for pictures with the bison as well as the woodchipper, but were blown out of the water by the friendliness of the staff inside the building. They were accommodating and helpful, and if they didn't know an answer to a question, they were happy to phone someone to find out. We used a coupon we found online to get $10 off a purchase of $50 from the gift shop, which was awesome!

What a great little visitor center. It has the original wood chipper from the movie Fargo. An interesting place to stop if you're in the area.
Wesley Roberts
Good place to visit when in Fargo to get information about the town, and of course see the wood chipper from the movie Fargo. They also had free popcorn which was a plus and they had post cards and other novelties to get to remember your time in beautiful Fargo North Dakota.
Cindy
Well, if you're coming to Fargo, you have have watched the movie Fargo! Fun free little stop, not necessarily some where you come multiple times but it was fun seeing the orginally chipper from the movie fargo, they had free popcorn and a little display of fossils. They do have a walk way of hand prints of celebrities but sadly weren't properly done or preserved so you couldn't tell who you were looking at.
robert zenor
Fun town❣️❣️Funky downtown. Everyone we got to chat with was super nice. We will be back.
Shelley Sandmaier
The staff here were wonderful and pointed us toward the best way to spend a weekend: visiting local breweries! We completed our little passport and earned excellent prizes. They also have great local souvenir options.
Emily Davis
A great little stop for local information and to check out the Woodchopper prop from the movie Fargo.
Robert Jackson
The visitor center was staffed by two friendly and informative representatives...we conversed about the great points of North Dakota. Its worth the time..
Sunset Traveler
Really glad we stopped. Saw the original wood chipper from the movie Fargo.
Michael Lewis
Very clean and interesting. I was pleasantly surprised!
Denai C
Quick little stop to father some booklets of places to see when in that area or all over North Dakota! It was very quiet in the place when we were there. The original wood chipper from the movie “Fargo” was interesting to see along with some memorabilia”
Rachel Marn
Fun little place to stop to get more information about the town and state. They had a nice variety of maps and suggestions of things to do in North Dakota. Great first stop coming into the state!
Zack May
Very helpful staff, fresh popcorn upon arrival and a lot of area maps and catalogs to help navigate you during your visit to the region. You must also check out the woodchipper from the movie Fargo, located inside the visitor center, not the one on the lawn out front.
Chris
Cool to see the Fargo stuff. The staff took our picture in front of the woodchipper.
Vishal Kohli
Nice visit, awesome sculpture of painted bison.
Papiya Sharmin
Highly recommended if you visit Fargo
Cynthia P
An interesting walk of fame, the original wood chipper from Fargo, great staff and free popcorn!
Zelig Steiner
Just the friendliest buncha fellows one can find at Fargo-Moorhead Visitor Center.
Jen G
Wasn't open for my visit. The grounds are nice though. The walk of Fame handprints were fun and taking pics with THE woodchipper was a highlight.
Angella Hanson
This is one of my regular spots when I'm in the area. Fargo-Moorhead has a lot of little gems and activities, but they are spread out and can be tough for a visitor to find, leaving people with the impression that there is nothing to do. This Visitor Center can give you maps, activities and events, and coupons to make your stay fun and less expensive. They also offer free coffee, and souvenirs to buy.
def rabbit
Two gyms for Pokemon Go trainers. Nice rest stop even if there is snow on the ground. Clean restrooms and friendly staff.
Ben Biddle
Clean restroom, helpful staff and lots of information. Particularly appreciated the free coffee ☕
Mickael Lesage
Great stop for getting information on Fargo and its area. Staff who us working there is very nice and will answer any question about their city. Cute gift shop! Do not miss your picture with wood chipper.
Sorghum Crow
Friendly, helpful staff. Loved the movie memorabilia, especially the chipper!
Peaches
The best visitors center I've ever been to. Clean & well maintained property inside & out. Many brochures to plan your trips about the local area. Very friendly & helpful. They have free hot coffee and tasty popcorn. And much to my surprise (almost missed the best feature) A very unique & authentic wood chipper with some added props for pictures from the memorable black comedy thriller movie Fargo. Well worth the quick stop we made originally for brochures and a bathroom break.
Jenny Morrison
It was very helpful going here. The staff was so friendly and engaging. She had a ton of great suggestions and resources.
ellee hunter
The lady there was very helpful and they had great stuff to check out especially if you're a fargo movie fan. But also cool stuff even if you have no interest in the movie. A great walk of fame from visiting celebs, the extremely cool wood chipper from the movie! Gifts and endless tour info. Totally worth the stop!
thetaurak
The staff is polite and happy to help, cool movie memorabilia and not to mention the woodchipper.. It speaks for itself.
Lindsey Cookston
The iconic wood chipper is great if you've seen the movie, but I haven't, so my opinion doesn't touch on that. The restrooms were very clean and accessible. It's wonderful for the center to offer the option of opening the doors using paper towels to stop the spread of germs, especially in the winter. The information brochure selecting is astounding. From mainline to obscure, you can find something fun to do for everyone and anyone, guaranteed. They offer a very wide selection of merchandise and souvenirs, many things not found at other visitor centers. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and it shows that the kind woman at the desk is dedicated to her job. She truly enjoys being there, and it shows in her attitude. With a building as gorgeous and masterfully engineered to capture the essence of how important farming is to North Dakota, the staff really made the center a place worth visiting.
Bonus: The original movie screenplay is available to read. Hollywood can claim many things, but this is unique to the center and really gives the center its own piece of fame to claim.
Steve Smith
Very clean and well maintained. Huge fan of the movie. Its great they have the actual wood chipper from the movie Inside. The lady working was very friendly and knowledgeable. She even offered to take picture of my wife and I next to it. They have numerous literature about the surrounding area. Great place to get out and walk around and stretch.
John Marzec
Very friendly staff! I got my girlfriend a Woodchipper hat!
Wendy Thompson
The ladies working there were so friendly and they have a club for people who are visiting North Dakota as the 50th state on their bucket list! They take a picture with their special sign and have commemorative t-shirts :)
Cherie Hicks
I can't believe this place closes at 4 pm. There are five more hours of things to do before dark. But the buffalo, woodchopper replica out front are cute. Plus it's crazy hot.
Cheryl Fowler
Worth the Stop. great people got some great pictures!
Josh VH
First time in North Dakota and another state crossed off my list (but not #50)! Had to of course see the Fargo wood chipper too!
Nikol Richards
So much information, a cute outside and electric car charging stations. I liked it.
Steven Juracek
A great place to visit if you want to learn more about the Fargo-Moorhead area. Staffed by super-friendly, knowledgeable people. There are cool things to see here like the Fargo Walk of Fame and the Woodchipper from the movie Fargo as well as a nice place to have a picnic. I thoroughly enjoyed the free popcorn as well.
Dave Miller
A nice visitors' center, with the requisite brochures and maps, and some very helpful staff. They also have tables with coloring pages for kids, which was great to occupy them for a few minutes while you browse. Also get a look at the Fargo woodchipper.
**If ND is the 50th state you've visited, let the staff know! You'll get a t-shirt and certificate commemorating the event!**
Michele Leblanc
Worth the visit for the photo ops alone!
Josh Mason
YASSSS!!! my grandpa was an extra in the movie Fargo and it was amazing to see a part of the movie and to be in the town. LOVED The wood chipper and walk of fame. great little stop for some small sights and to use the restroom.
Penny LeLeux
We really enjoyed our visit here. My mom got to join the Best for Last Club because North Dakota completed her visit to all 50 States. If Dakota is your last state, you get to join the club with a tee shirt, patch, pin and a certificate...plus you get to sign the Hall of Fame book and they take your picture. That was a kind of cool end to a special trip for my mom. Austin was the young man on duty during our visit. He was very sweet, but I think he may be fairly new, because some of his knowledge was not as extensive of the area as it should be for a welcome center...but I'm sure he will learn.
Randy Turk
Drove to the visitor center to see the "wood chipper". Nice location and cool "walk of fame" with celebrity hand prints and names. Very nice!
Anupa D.
The two college students who were at the center were very friendly and knowledgeable. They shared lots of local information including about parks, museum, restaurants, sights and things to do. They were actually enthusiastic and wanted to share and talk about their town and ask about our trip. The building is a quaint white multi storied one with green trim and easily visible off I-94. There is a Walk of Fame right outside with handprints/signatures of famous folks I'm concrete, a very multi-colored bison outside, high quality tusks and geologic maps of North Dakota, gifts, t-shirts and THE woodchipper from the film 'Fargo'. Lovely garden outside and a good place to spend some time.
Frankie MacGregor
Great spot to get info on Fargo and take a pic with the famous wood-chipper. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a nice chat.
David Atwood
The guy who worked here was super nice and helped us with pictures on the fantastic WOOD CHIPPER!!! They had great shirts, souvenirs, and information. It was clean and really well kept. Did I mention the WOOD CHIPPER from FARGO is here?!?! It's so cool!
Kelly Sky
If you saw the movie Fargo then you have to come here they have the original wood chipper in the visitor center and a replica outside.
S RVtravlR
This is really a must-see place to visit in Fargo, ND. The visitors area of the building although not very large, has a great display of the paleotology of the region and the famous Woodchipper and other items from the movie Fargo. The gift store has a nice selection, brochures of the area and the staff is super helpful. Don't miss the walk of fame surrounding the woodchipper display that is outside, in front of the building. (After our visit we went to the Roger Maris Museum at the mall nearby, that was cool, too.)
Bryan A (bcpux)
One of the best visitor centers I've ever been to. Very friendly and helpful staff, with a great selection of souvenirs. Come see the actual wood chipper from the move Fargo and other memorabilia!
Kristal Hauge
Nice visitor's center, tons of local, ND and MN information. The best part though is the Fargo movie memorabilia, complete with the original wood chipper, scripts, and props. Very fun!
Meredith Mills
Friendly place with tourist information, a walk of fame, souvenirs, snacks, and woodchippers. If you like the movie Fargo, they also have other memorabilia like the script. Good place to get information or novelties if you're passing through.
Christy Wortham
Fun visitor's center! You can get a picture taken with the "Fargo" woodchipper in a hat and holding a wood block. The ladies there were very nice, lots of travel brochures available and they sell t-shirts and other souvenirs.
Barbara Zoeller
What a fun stop! My husband and I finally made it to ND, the last of 50 states for us. The staff at the visitors center made a big deal of that. Evidently they do that for everyone through a Best for Last Club. We enjoyed our enrollment in this prestigious club and the positive attitude of the friendly staff. We waited until our 40th anniversary to finish the 50 states and are glad we saved the "best for last". Thank you Fargo Moorehead Visitors Center.
Sandy B
Very helpful & friendly staff!
Linda Zerfas

We spent nearly an hour here and Linda was SO incredibly kind to us and our almost 1.5 year old. She gave us recommendations and was super honest about anything we asked about. This Visitor's Center is absolutely worth visiting! Thank you SO much, Linda!

What a welcoming way to arrive in Fargo. The staff here is so friendly and helpful, and they will gladly take their time to show you all the wonders and local treasures in the area. A few souvenirs and photo opps make it all the more worthwhile.
