Wonderful experience in the store visiting from CT and the guy on night shift was so nice. We were stoked to have gotten to 4 out of 5 of the chain stores but are so disappointed to have purchased a piece that was broken….. you wouldn’t have known until you put water in it and it all leaked back out of the down stem. So very unhappy because we obviously saw the sign on the front that said all sales are final, but we couldn’t have known it was broken beforehand. Never had a bad experience with glass from here before and it was a quality brand - 303 :( definitely put a damper on our excitement, not to mention a $60 loss. Update - so appreciate the owners response so raised the star rating, but unfortunately we told the nice guy working that we were leaving portland the next morning and didnt see this reply until we were home in ct and we wont be back for another 2 or 3 weeks :(

5 stars for the glass! Massive selection of pieces, with a bunch from local artists. I love how spacious it is compared to so many shops that feel like you're going to knock everything over. Staff is always helpful whether you know what you're looking for or not.

I have heard some bad things about this place but I have gone here about 10 times in the last 5 years and never had a bad experience. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The woman with the curly "red" hair was incredibly pleasant and blew me away with how much she knew about every single product. With the industry still being relatively new, I don't rhink you can put a price on how valuable knowledge is. Being able to talk to a person and ask questions is 10x better than going online and reading reviews.

My favorite smoke shop for years. They’re a little pricy but for the awesome interactions i get every time i go in- i’ll pay the extra. Always a good time, great service, good communication, and the music is always bangers. A lot of the reviews for this place are misrepresented in my eyes due to being a petty or rude customer that doesn’t get there way. So be kind and you’ll get even kinder service back!!

UPDATE: The Groton store aswell as the franchise owners have gone above and beyond to rectify my buying experience. I cannot thank them enough and am left satisfied and will continue to be a loyal customer to northern lights shops. While I should have had a seamless purchasing experience which was not exactly the way this purchase transpired, especially noting that I have frequented this store in portland and considering they have not reached out or tried to make things right nor help, the incredible kindness and desire to make things as they should be by the other location aswell as the chains owners speaks in magnitude for how northern lights operates, or atleast how most of the stores operate, and should operate. While customers should be left with positive commerce rather than having to work to get things rectified, I feel confident being a customer here as I know that in the end good people will stand behind their good business Original Review: Bought an expensive piece from here. 800+ dollars. The sale was kinda a process with allot of waiting to get a response which doesn't really bother me especially considering how crazy things are currently, but taking 2 weeks to get my credit card number is a bit long. The next red flag was that after I paid and the money was taken out of my account the manager didnt respond for a day and a half even after sending multiple messages and calling the shop, leaving me a little worried. The piece was finally shipped more than 3 days after I paid. What I am most frustrated with is that the down-stem has very obvious defects and that the piece came with almost like water marks on it. It is pretty obvious that there is something wrong with the stem so I reached out to them again without a response. I called and got ahold of the manager and she sounded nice, as has everyone that I have spoken too, but didnt attempt to help. She said that "this is how it came to us so there is nothing we can do", I am trying to deal with the manufacturer now. I like this shop and find that my experience inside of it has been welcoming due to nice employees, but the actual purchasing process and subsequent experience has been made into what seems like a large ordeal, opposite of the easy process I would expect when spending a good bit of money (in the context of glass). I would definitely say the experience is better in person, however, the end result, not being offered help after being sold an item that should have never been sold, would sadly be the same.

Great place great people! Not sure why people are complaining about return policy, I don't know of many glass shops with even a basic return policy... You have the option to see, handle, and even try the function on the glass you're about to buy... Anyway, it's a dope place!

I absolutly love this head shop, they have such a great selection of pipes from spones to bongs they have it all. I have bought a hand full of pipes from this location and I love them all. Not only do they have great pipes but they also have great prices. I have bought spoons, bubblers, double bubblers, bongs, glass screens, blunt wraps and even glass cleaner here so when i say they have it all im really not kidding. The employess here are always very friends as well and always are more then happy to help out the customers. I have never ever had a problem with any of the staff at this location. Thank you norther lights for being so great and making all my visits a great experiance!

Best head shop in the Portland area, by far. Lots of room, not some closet downtown. Impressive inventory. Plastic throw away rigs up to very intricate and artistic glass. Love the staff.

Nothing like advertised, lots of pipes, a bit on the expensive side, as far as vapes not much to choose from. Disappointing visit, glad I looked around. I did buy 3 vapes and 3 coils individually, the attendent sold me the wrong coils and there are no returns. So be more careful than me. Cause you may be sold items that don't work together. Hope my regular shop has attachments for what was purchased at Northern Lights. 😠

Little high in price. But no one can compare with the internet now a days. So it isn't fully their fault. I would rather buy in-store then online. Always have great stuff. Workers are friendly. They do monthly giveaways, which are amazing.

Anyone who hates on a head shop should consider what they do before making a bad review. Head shops are under constant scrutiny and are under a lot of pressure and should not be criticized. Especially one like this. They're just trying to get a product out to the people like any business and this head shop certainly is not bad at that.
