This place is a gem! I stop by whenever I can to see what they have. They carry great brands -- everything from J.Crew to St. John! I got a classic red Burberry dress from here for just $80! Store is clean and employees are just lovely!

Went in for the first time and left with three amazing dresses. Shopping as a person bordering plus and straight sizes can be tricky at best when shopping at stores that have regular stock, let alone consignment but I popped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful as you browse. The shop is adorable and has a great range of styles and sizes. The jewelry counter was especially fantastic and I can't wait to stop by again!

Love, love, love the range of items and the personal styling help I receive every time I visit Clothes Encounters. As both a customer and a consigner, I'm so happy buying and selling there. I just splurged on a gorgeous fox coat and I couldn't be more pleased with the shopping experience, the coat and the price!

Rather lovely experience. I happened to have some time on me and walked inside simply to browse. I've been to many second hand clothing stores but there's a warmth and hospitality in this place as soon as you're greeted at the door. Customer service is 10/10. Friendly conversations all around, so many regulars, and if you're new (like me) they leave you feeling like you need to come back asap. With regards to the actual store, they are the most organized, I had no problem finding my size. Everything was so clean and the prices were so reasonable. I left with 4 pieces from Ann Taylor and J.Crew for the price of one T-shirt at either of those stores. (But they also had a variet of styles to fit all kinds of preferences). I didn't intent to buy anything, but the selection, the kindness, and the overall experience gave me alot more than the pieces I left with. I don't even write reviews but I knew I had to for this place and the lovely ladies who own/work there.

Favorite second hand store in the district! I have found items at all price points that are in exceptional condition. There's a broad enough range to appeal to all tastes, and these ladies really treat customers like family. Stop in if you're a vintage fiend!

A wonderful store staffed by lovely people. There is always something fantastic to find in this consignment shop. I love their jewelry selection and it is my go to spot for finding gifts for my wife. Everyone at the counter is so helpful and they really take the time to help find the perfect item you are looking for.

This place is truly a gem in the middle of the Eastern Market area. They have a huge variety of consignment items in wonderful shape, lots to browse! On my first visit there, I found a pair of Cole Haan nude flats for only $10! Will definitely be back to shop again soon.

I try to stop by here once a week. I have made great finds for reasonable prices! There is a range available from designer down to more basic (Clark’s shoes for 20.00). The buyers have a great sense of quality and style. Merchandise moves through more quickly than in some small stores. But best of all are the women who work and shop there. They lift my spirits every time.

This is my absolute favorite consignment shop to shop at in the district. They always have incredible items, if you're willing to "treasure hunt". Prices are very reasonable given the quality and brand names that they carry (Stuart Weitzman, Burberry, Gucci, Theory, Helmut Lang to name a few). The owner is very pleasant and helpful towards shoppers. Unfortunately the owner's kindness does not apply towards sellers. I've brought in many (high quality, brand name) items for their consideration, only to be insulted. I absolutely understand that not every item will be accepted, but it is entirely unnecessary to insult the seller. I have been on the receiving end of many rude, snide remarks about how out of style my items are. Again, it's totally fine to decline a seller's items, but a simple "no" pile would suffice. This is what other consignment shops in the area do. I was also mocked for going in to collect a small amount (<$10) that was on my account with a comment like "I guess every dollar counts, huh". In the future, I will just donate my clothing or sell on Poshmark to avoid being insulted by the owner here again. There are a few reviews that echo this sentiment, and I urge the owner to take note. After all, you need people to donate their clothes in order to be a viable business. TLDR: great experience as a buyer, unpleasant experience as a seller

Great store! I often consign there and usually get a fair price for my items. Gayle and her team are always very nice although they get busy during certain hours. I have found a lot of really unique items there I will treasure forever. Like any other consignment store sometimes inventory is amazing, and other times it’s just OK. But that’s the reason to keep going back.

I both consign and buy at this wonderful " one of a kind" boutique. Small it is, but cozy, convivial and full to the brim with unique pieces. The greatest prize is the welcoming, friendly staff - the service is consistent with that found only at high end couture boutiques. Well done everyone, keep up the great work!

I really love this place, I have found some amazing pieces here and i also consign with them. Business is robust! The owner is not rude, but people often think so. I think she may have a lil nervous energy and pet peeves like she gets nervous when a line forms and she hates it when the counter gets messy; otherwise she is really cool. The employees are amazing! Super helpful, down to earth and mad nice.

This place is a hidden gem. I have to say that most of what I wear comes from this store. I have been coming here for so many years and they have the best deals in DC and the garments are all in 'Like new" condition. The store has changed hands in the past year, I like both the previous and current owners and the employees are nice. No one following you around and making you feel uncomfortable. Unlike other stores that I won't mention you can get your garments back if they do not sell. I come here for the deals and service so f you are looking for a spiffy space with sparkling lighting fixtures etc then this is not the place for you.
