Justin is an incredible artist, friendly, accommodating, patient, and so creative. He gave three of us our first tattoos. Two were Justin’s artwork, designed after consulting with us: a griffin launching off a rock in the ocean (took 3 hours to tattoo), and a set of specific flowers (magnolia, sunflower, borage, and chamomile) growing from a port scar (1 hour). One was created from custom artwork of our own (30 minutes, and it came out completely true to the original drawing). I won’t lie, there are varying levels of pain involved, but Justin put us at ease and helped us get through it. And it’s totally worth it. My brothers and I came to get a tattoo and we had a wonderful experience. The guy who did ours was super chill. Very patient, very nice and he really made sure we liked it before he started. It was mine and one of my brothers first time and he was very careful and thoughtful and the prices weren’t a problem at all. Overall a great place to go to, I’d go back for my next tattoo.

Been tattooed by Weston and Matt and recommend them both for your traditional work. Not only are they great artists, they’re solid dudes. I really enjoy being tattooed by them and feel like they strive to give me the best design and application they can. The shop is a great place and has a really relaxed vibe. All the artists are friendly and it doesn’t feel like there’s tension like I’ve felt in other shops. Been tattooed in 4 shops in Boise and Devotion I 100% recommend over anywhere else.

This in my opinion is one of the top tattoo shops in the Treasure Valley. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years, the staff is super professional and just awesome. Jon has done about 3 of my tattoos and I've always had great healing and get so many compliments on the clean work. His line work is IMPECCABLE! Seriously. I've haven't personally had any piercings done there but I've had friends get pierced there and it's always a good experience. The shop is kept clean and in top shape, always good music, a good vibe, and you can totally tell this is a family shop.

EDITED to say I went back and Matt again, did an excellent job. He works quickly yet beautifully. He knows you don't want to spend forever in his chair because it hurts! He truly makes every tattoo an excellent experience. My husband and I walked into Devotion Tattoo on a Friday afternoon each looking for two small to medium tattoos. We were seen almost immediately! Jon Morse did both of my tattoos and did an incredible job! They turned out perfect. He was personable and the place was very clean! Matt Evans did one of my husbands tattoos that day and then the bigger one the next day by appointment due to lack of time on Friday. He did an amazing job on both! Everyone there is professional, personable and the place is spotless. I would return again in a heartbeat and highly recommend Devotion to anyone wanting quality ink from awesome people in a clean environment!

If I could give a dozen more stars, I would! From the time I called asking about nose piercings to walking out the door, it was an awesome experience! Very professional, friendly, great vibe and atmosphere. Clean studio with beautiful artwork on the walls. Jon did a small memorial name tattoo for me a couple of weeks ago and I am very happy with it! Great shop, professional and clean. I had a great experience and will definitely take my business here again in the future. (Also I will say for anyone reading these less than ideal reviews about blurred or blotched lines, keep in mind tattoos go through a healing process where different layers of scabbing occur. It's always best to gage based on how long people waited to leave their review.)

I think his name was ken... but super awesome. He did amazing on both my tattoo and my friends a little over a week ago. I just gave him a general idea to incorporate with the tattoo I already had on my ribs and he came up with a beautiful design to add on to it. He also made it as painless as possible. 10/10 would recommend! The shop was also very clean and fun!

Wonderful tattoo shop. Ignore the upset reviews. Matt is a quiet, humble artist that creates timeless tattoos. His line work is clean, and he’s very friendly. I have been, and will continue to get tattooed by him. Think classic tattooing that’s faithful to the roots of tattooing. Tattoo lovers love him. Weston has a Strong, bold style. I wish I had another body to get tattooed by Weston! Weston can do anything, he’s a generous tattooer, he knows how your tattoo should look, wants it to look right on your body. Dustin is very friendly, very outgoing. Just saw one of his clients’ dragon tattoos at “Jackson’s,” and had to ask who his artist was! Turned out it was Dustin. His style is a mix of American & Japanese traditional. He can do any color you need. Jon, the owner, is currently slaying simple/complex black line designs. I’ve also seen that he is one of the best Japanese style tattooists in town. Most likely underutilized. If you step into his shop, or even the Treasure Valley Tattoo Convention, he will strike you with his candor and genuine nature. Always do your research and find your tattoo artist. The art of tattooing is alive at Devotion. Probably always will be. And I am not a personal friend of any of these people. They’re real artists, this is a real review, just get tattooed already!

I had my first tattoo here today and I was extremely nervous. I chose a rib tattoo and had heard several horror stories about the various levels of pain. However, Matt did an incredible job at making my experience comfortable. From the moment I walked into the shop I felt at peace. The environment is clean and upbeat with nice music. Came in for my first tattoo this morning and it was an extremely chill and clean environment. For someone scared of needles, I felt relaxed and taken care of the whole time. I've been going to devotion for over a year and honestly I'm always left speechless with how great the experiences have been. I will only go here for my tattoos because of how well these dudes are with what they do. All of them are super nice and beyond friendly with any questions I've ever had. I've had all the rough areas done (ribs, stomach) first and going into it I was scared because it was my first couple of times getting a tattoo but all my tattoos were done so well and done with amazing talent and came out perfect. I've been visiting Devotion for going on almost 10 years. Jon and Westin are devoted artists, passionate about their trade and do the highest quality of work. Jon has basically done my entire body over the time we have known each other. And that level of loyalty comes from his persistent dedication and ultimately friendship that came from trusting him to do what he does - understanding what you envision, and making it a reality. They are both careful, meticulous, and work with a dedicated precision. The lines are smooth and straight, the shading perfect, and the color vibrant and lush: making for truly beautiful representations of what you envision in your mind. I've lived all over the world. I come back maybe once a year. I'll never use another artist. They are that good and deserving of the loyalty.

I like my tattoo, however, I scheduled it two weeks in advance with the artist and immediately sent an email of what I was looking for to them along with pictures. When I got there on my appointment date I ended up waiting an hour and a half because the artist didnt remember who I was and didnt have anything prepared or drawn up for my appointment. I'm not sure if that's just how it works but I kind of figured something would be at least sketched out since it was booked a ways in advance. It started getting sort of close to closing time while I was getting most of the way done being tattooed and it seemed like he was starting to rush his work. The tattoo looks like I got progressively more sloppy and rushed in the areas he did last. He was a nice guy, but I think I will be going somewhere else for a touch up to correct the areas that need a little more work

I have been visiting my family in Boise and I have a tattoo addiction so I figured why not get another one. Found this shop through their great reviews on google and stopped in randomly one day. Didnt need to schedule a consultation which I have always disliked and was able to schedule an appointment with Weston literally right away. I got an American Traditional ship on my ribs and Weston's line work is incredible. Went back for my 2nd session to finish the tattoo off with color and it make the tattoo pop and come to life. I am super happy with the work that was done and all the employees that I saw there were all super cool and pretty funny. I would surely come back for more ink in the future and would recommend this shop to anyone. Thanks!

Having my last tattoo take 6 hours I was very skeptical to get another (took me about a year and a half to get over the experience). I heard about Devotion from a friend and decided to check the place out. Its incredibly professional, clean, everything you want from a tattoo shop. John tattooed two hummingbirds on my back, they were/are absolutely gorgeous and took maybe an hour. Best tattoo experience of my life, will be going back very soon.

Wasn’t happy with the outcome of me and my husbands matching tattoos. We went to Dustin. The lines are wobbly and uneven. He was very heavy handed and my husbands has yet to heal completely after a month and a half because of how deep he went. The tattoo is only three or four inches and it’s geometric. Won’t even go back for the free touch up. Edit: The owner of Devotion got in contact with me and my husband. He fix my tattoo himself. My husbands has yet to heal completely but he is fixing his as well. I’m happy that he got in contact and was more than happy to fix this for us. I will happily go back here for the many tattoos I plan on getting.

I won’t go anywhere else for my tattoos. From the pristine environment, dedication to sterilization and cleanliness, awesome custom artwork covering all the walls, very fair prices, to the kickass music that everyone can enjoy, Devotion is the ideal place for your first or your hundredth tattoo. I’ve been tattooed by Matt 5 times now, and his attention to the most minute details is extraordinary (and extremely reassuring when you’re having a permanent procedure done). He’s also great to talk to and has a very calming demeanor. If you’re anxious about your first ink or worried about pain or placement, go to Matt. The dude is confident in his abilities and technique, an excellent listener, and comfortable working with you to make sure it’s exactly what you’re wanting before even getting started. He’ll put you at ease immediately. Also, Matt is not nearly as “heavy handed” as other artists (i.e. he finds that sweet spot to inject the ink and doesn’t go deeper than necessary = much less pain!). That’s huge, guys. I got my first ribs tattoo yesterday and was a bit worried since I made the mistake of reading horror stories online. Oops. The entire process was almost pain free and it looks amazing today. No redness or irritation like my first tattoo (different artist and shop). I won’t go to anyone except Matt anymore. As an aside, my husband has had two pieces done by another artist at Devotion—Dustin I think? They turned out phenomenal as well. I got to witness some of Weston’s dotwork the weekend as well. Whoa! You can’t go wrong with the guys here. Highly, highly recommend Devotion for all your tattoo needs.

Everyone I've met at Devotion Tattoo Boise is really passionate about tattooing. They take their craft very seriously. The staff is very friendly and helpful and all of the tattoers are experts. I got a traditional tattoo by Dustin Fowler that he designed on the spot and it turned out awesome. Me: “Yep.” Guy: “They are getting so good, it’s crazy.” Devotion is the most professional, friendly, clean, AND talented staff in the Treasure Valley. Popped in at 7:00 or so, about an hour before they closed, and they still sat down and put up with my husband's simple and nerdy tattoo. Reasonably priced, and I saw him unwrap the clean material. He asked every so often to make sure Alex wasnt in pain or bleeding too much. Matt was very patient and kind, making sure my husband smiled and laughed all the way through. 10000% suggesting this place to all my friends, and I am going to this place for myself when I get mine. Clean and sanitary, beautifully done work, despite its derpy design, and lived perfectly up to the standards and my husbands wishes. Many thanks to Matt for the beautiful work!

I got my third earlobe piercing a few months ago from a different shop..mistake. My skin grew over the back post of the earring so I had no way to get it out and I was worried I’d get an infection. I was very anxious to get it fixed but once I came in Laura fixed it right away. She talked me through it and was super sweet. Now that she fixed it I’ve had no problems with it. Laura is the BEST!! I came here for my first tattoo. I brought my own design something that was very special to me. It was a realistic anchor with a banner around it that said "refuse to sink." While the entire time I was treated incredibly well, the design wasnt exactly how I drew it (it came out more simplistic, and the shading was interesting.) All in all they are great and polite, but didnt really portray what I brought them.

CONTACT OWNER JON if there is an issue. My son got his first tattoo (initials on his wrist ) done by Dustin. Dustin was friendly, and explained everything he was doing. My son had such a positive experience that he decided to return and get 2 more small tattoos. Dustin was not working when we returned a few days later. Matt was the only one working. We walked in and spoke with Matt in the am and scheduled an appt for that afternoon. When we arrived, Matt just finished a client. We were the only people in the shop and we waited nearly 40 minutes while Matt went in and out of the shop, not saying anything to us. Matt is very quiet, but a few things happened that gave us the feeling Matt did not want to be there. Both Matt and Dustin had told my son he could return for a free touch up. When his tattoo healed, we noticed Matt's lines were not as sharp as they should be and the tattoo would need to be touched up, but next time he would go to Dustin. 9 weeks after his first tattoo, my son called Devotion and asked for Dustin. He asked to make an appt for touch up on all 3 SMALL tattoos. Dustin was rude and would not schedule an appt for him to get a touch up. My son was told to walk in sometime ??? The 2 times he walked in before, he was told to make an appt and come back later. I was planning on paying for the touch ups, but my son got such bad treatment from Dustin, he refuses to return Devotion. UPDATE: OWNER JON DID REACH OUT TO ME AND OFFERED TO TOUCH UP THE TATTOOS HIMSELF. My son declined his offer. I have changed my review to 3 stars instead of 1 because the owner did the right thing. THANK-YOU.

One of my buddies was ready to get his first actual tattoo (hes got some kitchen magic on his toes ha-ha) and I suggested going to devotion tattoo on Broadway. Its where I got my first tattoo and have been satisfied with the results since then! (I make sure to suggest Devotion to anyone and everyone). What I didn't expect to happen was the urge to get another tattoo myself when I walked in. But its hard for me to say no to a tattoo after my first one. So before Weston started on my buddies leg, I informed him I was interested in getting a tattoo. He made a call. And on his DAY OFF, Jon Morse came in, gathered up my ideas, and created a piece that I will always be proud of. I got my fourth tattoo, my first colored tattoo, and a sentimental piece for my great-grandfather all in one sitting :) Devotion tattoo is creative, down to earth, and wont beat up your wallet :) I'm grateful to Jon for coming on his day off, staying after closing, and for once again having me leave smiling :) (hurting but smiling all the same ha-ha) THANK YOU JON MORSE AND DEVOTION TATTOO!!!
