Such a neat shop!! So much beatiful at work and the skulls and specimens are exquisite! I decided to get a second nose piercing and Sara did a fabulous job! They have an excellent selection of jewelry and everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Very clean and sanitary.

Came here to get my first facial piercing in August, a septum. Staff were so kind and caring regarding me having anxiety. They gave me appropriate advice regarding gauge size since I fell in love with a 14g piece of jewelry. Very professional, very clean, and the atmosphere is amazing! I also bought my boyfriend a new piece of jewelry and three wet samples I fell in love with while my piercer was preparing. My piercing healed well and I can't wait to go back for my next piercing! Update: went in today for my daith and had another fantastic experience!!

I recently visited Ascension to get my nose pierced. I didn't know much about nose piercings and Ares, my piercer, was very informative. I wanted a hoop piercing but they politely explained that it can cause problems to start with a hoop and that they only do initial piercings with studs, but they also said that if I wanted a different piercer at the shop would do a hoop. I was pretty surprised at this, so I didn't get pierced that day. I was worried they would be mad at me for this, but they were very understanding and kind about it. The next day I decided to go through with the stud and Ares did a great job. They were kind and made me laugh a lot which is good because I was really nervous. The whole shop is very clean, professional, and inviting. Ares is very knowledgeable, open to questions and very comforting. I'd definitely get pierced by them again.

I had my second lobe piercing done by Sara (who was an absolute angel) so when my mom mentioned she wanted her helix pierced, I knew where we were going! I’m blown away by the cleanliness of this shop and precaution taken to keep a sterile environment. Not only was everyone super professional, they were polite and accommodating. Ares did my piercings for my seconds on my ears, the left didn't sit right at first and they fixed it right away and it's sitting beautifully now. I would give 3 stars if not for Vern coming to save the day; Vern was the guy to pierce my nose and he was great, it was an exceptional experience in service and in the piercing itself. He was prompt and told me everything I needed to know about my piercing, 5/5 stars. I recently came back to have my stud replaced with a hoop after I was all healed up, and that experience with Ascension was a bit different. The replacement was done by a different piercer who was very nice, but they put an incorrectly sized ring into my nostril, which I was unaware of until I called the piercer back due to infection-like symptoms. Also, they did not tell me how much the ring was before they charged me, which resulted in an 80 dollar charge (which was on me, I didn’t ask how much it was, but monetary transparency on their end would have been appreciated). I’m not giving 5 stars because that piercer gave me an incorrectly sized ring that caused bleeding and pus, and charged me without disclosing the price of the ring. I’m giving 4 stars because I called the shop and Vern made it right, changing the size of my ring, giving me all the info, and compensating for the last experience.

I don't think I could give Ares enough kudos and compliments in just this small text box. I've been to them quite a few times now and each time is better than the last. They are a very kind, caring person who walks you through each step in the process. They make it abundantly clear that they 1- love their job and 2- go above and beyond to provide the best experience they can. I received my very first tattoo (@ 50!) from Jordan, who is a fairly young delightful female, who's very talented as a designer & applier. Sarah, who is the piercer while I was there, as well as a very knowledgeable and helpful counter clerk, & a kicked back, off duty tattoo artist,(he's inked on the right side of his face, who's names I've forgotten. B4 & after my tattoo, I spent almost 2hrs looking @ jewelry and I couldn't find what I wanted to the very end, but they all were patient and professional. the only thing that I can criticize is the prices for the jewelry. it's high end stuff, but lots of times we are on a budget lol thanks for your help!

Had an amazing experience!!! Went in Monday to get a VCH piercing for my husband for his birthday, and Sarah did an amazing job!! She was SO helpful at calming me down (I was REALLY nervous to get a below-the-belt piercing) and walked me through the aftercare, along with explaining to me everything she was doing leading up to the piercing itself, completely putting me at ease. And even though the piercing was PRETTY DAMN painful, she did a great job, and it was over and done before I knew it!! I was really looking forward to visiting this place. It looked really cool from the picture, I really loved the vibe, and it was for piercings. Most places cater to tattoos. I was strictly looking for jewelry. I brought my other jewelry (captive hoops) for my snake bites, so as to ensure that I'd get the right size. They have a beautiful and wide assortment, unfortunately I wasn't helped. I told the lady behind the counter, what I was looking for, and showed her my jewelry for reference in size. She said she wasn't sure if they had what I wanted. I asked if she had a measure, in order to tell me what size I needed. She said she didn't have a way to measure. Other people showed up, and I was pushed aside. They had appointments for lobe piercings. I understand that they had an appointment, and needed to be taken care of, but in addition to not helping me, she didn't let me wait until they were done. She gave me a card, and told me to make an appointment. Basically showing me the door. I just wanted to buy jewelry. They should have had calipers, or even just a working knowledge of standard sizing, in order to help people. It's not practical to be there, and ready to buy, only to be turned away and told I need an appointment. If an appointment is needed in order to just buy jewelry, that should be made clear in advance. I wasted time, gas, and left with nothing. She was at no point rude, or unpleasant, but I wasn't helped in any way. I hate to be forced to shop online, but I've yet to be helped by any local shops... I've visited 4 so far.😔

I went on a backpacking trip and accidentally ripped my nose ring out. I went to Ascension to have a new hoop placed since I wasn’t able to get the hoop back in on my own. Sara was super welcoming and helpful and educated me a lot about different gauges of hoops and how to properly take care of my nose! We went over jewelry choices/prices before the service so I knew exactly what I was paying. I’m happy to have a nicer piece of jewelry in my nose and I have had zero issues with it!!! This place is incredible. By far the best customer service experience I've had in Albuquerque. Clean place and staff was super caring, attentive, and informative. They will take out and change your piercings for you (like cartilage) at no cost. Also sell great quality jewelry. Highly recommend.

Honestly, this is a good place. You walk in to see a nice clean, tidy lobby. There is some wicked cool stuff in the display cases. Beautiful, quality jewelry. The staff are kind, cheerful, respectful and happy to answer questions. And they communicate through the entire piercing process to ensure the client walks out happy. I even got a sugar tablet today as I was a tad woozy. EDIT The Industrial piercing I got here nearly a year ago is holding strong. Healed beautifully. EDIT Vern is such a cool guy. He squeezed me in between appointments today to change my rook bar. In and out. Thanks Vern!!

They are probably the kindest, coolest person I've met. (To be fair all of the employees were just awesome and friendly.) I didn't even feel the needles go in, but then again, I don't really have a problem with them. If you are a first timer, as I was, go there to Ascension. You'll be in great hands. My piercings were done by Sarah and all was great! She was clean, professional, friendly and funny!! She was very clear about everything she was doing and made me feel comfortable. Next day and I actually have no swelling or pain because she was that great!! Very pleased and will go here again! My only recommendation would be that website jewelery pricing included more detailed information or an $$ up to $$ type of format as I understand there are many options. 5 star place including 5 star jewelry only piercing quality material which is the only way to go!! High 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

i’ve gone twice and got my piercings done by vern. he’s very good at thoroughly explaining everything like the jewelry and the cleaning/healing process. there’s a large selection of jewelry to choose from and i really appreciate the safety precautions they take. also love all the taxidermy displayed.

I always think I’m not cool enough to walk into these places, so it’s really nice when the folks working inside make you feel welcomed. I got a septum piercing today! Vern was my piercer, and he was super chill and relaxed, which in turn made me feel calm and chill too. I appreciated the professionalism, the attention to details, safety, and cleanliness— but I also appreciate it when a body modification shop doesn’t take themselves too seriously, and make it all about themselves, their fame, or whatever. The staff at Ascension focus on you, your satisfaction and experience, joy, and the goals you’re trying to achieve, not just on your first visit, but for the long term journey of your piercing. Good vibes are very important to me, when I’m getting any kind of procedure involving needles. 🖤✨🖤✨🖤 I was trying to go for the fanciest, prettiest, more elaborate and expensive jewelry for my initial septum piercing. But Vern talked me down into reality, and helped me pick a piece that would work best, not just for the size of my face and anatomy, but for hygiene and the after-care phase of the piercing. Another, less scrupulous shop would have let me go with a more expensive ring, just to make a quick profit. So I really respect the time Vern took to advise me, and educate me too. I still had to go with Gold though ✨✨✨... and I’ll definitely be upgrading to a fancier peace later, but only after this hole heals!

I don’t understand the negative reviews I’ve seen about ascension, as they are all very easily solved by telling the piercer/whoever is helping you what you want. (All issues with higher quality jewelry costing more money and being “forced into a decision” even though you were told the price so you can make a choice before you get it put into your body etc). I have had a very good experience with this business. I have gotten 8 piercings with them so far and the only one I ever had an issue with was my own fault (they didn’t say “this is your fault,” they acknowledged that I moved but took responsibility even though it wasn’t their mistake). I had moved my tongue when I got it pierced and it was a bit crooked and they offered to redo it for free even though I was the one who messed up the process! I will be paying them for their service at that time because it was not their mistake to compensate for. Every piercing I have gotten has been healing very nicely, is perfectly placed and they make sure it is, very professionally and cleanly done and with a good experience in the shop with the friendly and attentive staff. They give you a lot of advice about the piercings you get and even warn you about possible issues before you get them so you can reconsider that placement - they always have your best interest in mind! Sorry this review was a bit long but I will always choose ascension :)

I am currently getting a tattoo finished by Niko, he is finishing a tattoo that I started over 2 years ago, I didn't care much for the original but he was the perfect choice to fix and finish this tattoo. I will post the before and after when it's finished, but Everytime I go in, I love what he adds. I have regularly had work done at Ascension for years. The owner has done multiple piercings on me and also some excellent scarification work. The place is super clean and all of the jewelry is good quality. All internally threaded so it doesnt cut up your piercing. Prices can be higher than some other shops by a little... but the cleanliness and quality of jewelry are more than enough to cover that. Hands down best place i have ever been for body mod work. Just know that when you want quality, it comes at a price and with this place, you should jump at that.

Loved it, even though I had to reschedule to 8:30PM. I didn't mind because it was my fault for coming in late the first time. The girl at the front desk had me down as Tal lol but it's okay. Super nice people, had my tongue pierce reopened by Vern. I would definitely recommend this place for those who want any piercings done. I'll be going back and I'm bringing my older sister along to get her tongue pierced for the first time.

I was referred to Ascension by a good friend. Out of the blue I decided I wanted to see what jewelry was available for a nose piercing. Mind you my intent was to just look, not go through with a piercing. My first vibe stepping in the shop was a calm, friendly and clean environment. I was immediately greeted. Vernon explained the process and provided great information to help me decide what kind of jewelry and conveniences me to go ahead and get the piercing. Vernon was very professional and made me feel relaxed during the piercing. I got my nose stud and it looks freaking awesome. I've only been to Ascension once, but it was pretty darn great. I went in last week for a simple navel piercing, and Kyle was professional through and through. He walked me through the whole process and explained each step to me, which, even as somebody with as many piercings as I have, is something I haven't experienced before. He was very thorough, and I'd definitely go back to him again. It was a little pricey compared to what I'm used to, but I definitely got what I paid for.

I lost my tragus jewelry who knows how long ago. As soon as I walked in, I knew I made a good choice. They were all professional and willing to help. I would consider them COVID prepared, they all had masked and asked me to wash my hands before even looking at the jewelry. They squeezed me in before the next appointment, switching out the post and adding the jewelry I picked out (great selection, btw). In and out within 15 minutes. Great experience and I will continue to shop there for more.

I am so glad I went here!! Boy was amazing!! My husband and I had been to a few other shops and did not find what we were looking for. We decided to stop by and I am so glad we did. We walked in and were greated right away with friendly service. I explained that I was looking to get a tattoo done on my left shoulder and I was introduced to Boy. I explained to him that I wanted a tattoo and wanted it that same day. I showed him some pictures of what I wanted and he seemed to excited to draw it up. He explained everything that he could do with the pictures that I had shown him. After a few hours of drawing he text me stating that the drawing was done and to come take a look. When we got there the drawing that he created was just what I wanted. Once everything was finalized on the drawing he got started and 5 hours later it was done. The tattoo came out better then I could ever imagine! There is so much detail in everything and the colors are amazing on the flowers and hummingbird. My husband is planning on going in to get something done in the near future!! Thanks again Boy!!

He give me the run around for about 4 months I went in talked to the owner a couple of hours later TK gave me a call said he would do the touch up for the other artist he was absolutely amazing TK is 110% recommended from me. First off, the shop itself is like a little oddities museum so waiting is a fun little adventure. I was helped by the friendly staff as soon as I walked in and presented all the valid paperwork before moving forward. Remember, you need to have a valid ID to move forward as this is a legit place 😎. I was helped by Ares and they were absolutely amazing. They had a way of making you feel absolutely comfortable and excited about your piercing. Ares is clearly knowledgeable, experienced, and has the most awesome personality. Everyone in the shop made sure I was well aware of their sanitation protocols and I had a wide variety of jewelry to choose from. Ares picked an excellent placement for my anatomy and the piercing was done quickly and effortlessly. The prices are well worth the services received! I will be back and highly recommend!
