Reviews of Vientiane Grocery
Update: I ordered Red curry and a drink/snack. Red curry came with rice. Curry had good amount of vegetables ( egg plant, bamboo shoot, basil, red pepper), not skimpy at all. I was pretty impressed.
Lao/ Thai grocery store with takeout food.
They had many items on their menu. Price was reasonable and cheaper than restaurants. Food was good. I ordered Pad see ew with chicken and Green bean salad. Pad see ew had a lots of vegetables which I like. Green bean salad was a bit spicy ( medium) for me, I will order less spicy level next time. I would like to try different dishes! So excited to find this place. Parking available. There is a paved path to get this store. The door is not big, wheelchairs may be tight.
Inside this Lao Market is a casual-eats restaurant. We came for the Esan sausage with sticky rice and it was well worth the price for $16.50. The sour pork was also tasty and we would have ordered more Lao dishes had we not planned to go on an eating spree. Definitely worth coming to and will repeat.
Awesome Pad Thai. They have a crazy large menu, so I will be back.
If you want a quick thai/loas food vientine grocery got it . Food are great and affordable they have premake ready or you could order to go. I pick me up some beef larb for lunch
Omg, the food is soo unbelievably good! Laos sausage and Nam Khao are amazing!!
My partner loves to eat the balut from this grocery store, and often times we end up sitting down (3-4 tables) to order more from their menu. My favorites are the pork noodle bowl, papaya salad with pickled crab, and beef jerky with sticky rice. From the fridge we get pre packed larb (unless you can read Lao, check with the staff which meat it is), and from the freezer Esan sausage. Yum! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. They take catering/party tray orders too, as long as you order several days ahead, and pick up on time.
Note: PAPAYA SALAD IS VERY SPICY!!!
1 star spicy here is equivalent to maybe a 3 star spicy out of 5 in other SE Asian restaurants. You can politely ask them to keep the chili on the side if you want to be cautious.
Missing the PNW post. This was my go to spot when I lived there. Everytime I'm in the area and I'm craving Lao food I stop by here for my fix! I hope they continue to thrive and serve great food and sell the ingredients for others to try to make it at home. My go to order is spicy Lao style papaya salad "thum ma hung" combo plate, sticky rice, lao sausage, and chicken wings and yes all by myself most of the time. #fatboyproblems
One of the best store , customer service, amazing raw meat, i can't wait until Thursday & Saturday those best days to go to the store
I marked this "restaurant" many years ago, today finally got here. Tried something different, not too good, not too bad
VERY good food! Incredible Lao sausage! Delicious nam khao!
It's time I reviewed this place because I've been eating here a lot. This is one of my favorite places to eat in Seattle. It's a Lao grocery store that also has a full menu of Thai and Lao food. They have some Thai dishes that you'll no doubt be familiar with, and some Lao dishes that you may not be, but it's all fantastic, fresh, big portions, and a good value. And the people who run this store are wonderful and very nice.
You can get Pad Thai here and you'll be very happy with it, and the portion. But also try the Pad Lao, and some of the other Lao specialties. The Lao sausages with sticky rice are phenomenal- Lao sausage has such a great rich, complex flavor, great texture, and the sticky rice is perfect. Try the Nam Khao- a great Lao salad made of fried sticky rice balls with peanuts and bunch of great fresh ingredients, it's got lime and shallots and herbs, and fresh lettuce. Very refreshing.
My personal favorite is the mee kati, Lao-style, a curry noodle soup that is hard to find around here (some places have the northern Thai dish by that name, but it's much different). If you like curry noodle soups this is an all-time great one.
They're so nice, if you live near here, you're lucky. Check it out. Also, if you ask for spicy, they will make it spicy, so be aware.
Clean and organized Laotian Thai grocery story. Modest selection with small kitchen that serves a variety of dishes. Did not try food yet but will be back to see what they have to offer.
A great grocery store, deli, and cafeteria. Very nice curry and rolls. Good service and fantastic staff. Kind of unappealing from the outside if you do not know it, but totally compensates once you are in. Highly recommend.
Great food...try their sour pork.
Best beef jerky in town (according to my partner). For me I enjoy the sausage a lot. We have to wait outside after we order.
Hole in the wall & Delicious! Looks rundown, but food is very good! I usually would get the stuff tapioca balls & Nam-kow to go. I always buy their homemade Lao sausage & Marinated dried beef in the freezer section, for sale. The workers are always very nice to me.
While it's technically a grocery store, go here for prepared food. The papaya salad is legit and for real spicy. You can get frozen sausage from the freezer section to take home and make yourself. Definitely will come back!
Brought my family here to introduce them to Lao cuisine. The people were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and the portions were huge. Will definitely be coming back. For those who are afraid that they would not know what to order, don't worry they have pictures on the window and the cashier will make recommendations.
I love this place and the move was good for them. Such nice folks with the freshest street Thai food in the city. But they don’t mess with spice so order a 1 or 2 on the spice. This come from someone who surly orders a 3 or four. 🥬🥒🍛🍚🧆 …
Had a 4 hour layover at Seatac and stopped here for some food. Turned out to be amazing!!! Definitely worth leaving the airport. Please note that they don't have seating at the grocery store to eat the food. But definitely worth it!
Best and Most authentic regional Thai food I know of in Seattle. I always keep a stock of their home made spicy sausage (sai ua) in my freezer.
Their prepared dishes are a slightly better value than other Thai restaurants, and their catering portions are rediculously good value.
Good food. When we travel we always seek out Asian stores and restaurants to our accustomed ways. This is a nice little store that sells items that is needed for cooking Thai/Loas style and a small kitchen that cooks up deliciously authentic Thai/Laos dishes. They cater too
Very tasty Pad See Ew
The store hours are clearly stated, but when I arrived at 4:30pm on a Saturday, it's closed. I was hoping to try their papaya salad that I heard my friends said that it tasted great. *Disappointed on a clear, blue sky day* UPDATE 05/2019: So this place finally opens and it turns out to be a restaurant/grocery store. There seems to be a full kitchen in the back to order Laotian food. I'm here for the crab papaya salad...at last. at long last since a year ago!! Upping the star rating to 3.
Stopped in to grab some to go items for our trip home. All I can say is YUM! Authentic LAO FOOD. Lots of premade, frozen & ready to eat food in their coolers. Our food order was made quickly. Never had corn in Nam van before but it was also really good & a must try.
great variety of selections of food here. Of many come here to order food for party or dine in. Some selections aren't that great. But other's selections are pretty darn good. raw beef lab, nam kao, crab papaya, kapoon are just the few selections i like most
I went to Abdul Ghafoor's and hands down he has the BEST fried chicken up north. I don't get there very often because I live down south but, when I do get the chance, that's one of my go to places! If I could give more than 5 stars I would without any hesitation! 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 …
Authentic Thai/Issan food. Even the look of the wall menu is authentic. Prices are decent for Thai food this good. The grocery store is small but has some hard to find items.
I have no complaints about Vientiane Grocer. Whenever I'm looking for Lao ingredients or even when I'm craving authentic Lao Jao, which they make all the favorites, or Gang Nor Mai stew, made two different ways, I know the food will be made right and is always delicious.
The variety of goods and spices is amazing.
Only best Lao/Thai food + grocery store I know of & been to so far during my 5yr stay in WA, Especially when missing homemade style cooking!
Great food, great people!
Great place to get loa food. The cashier there was very nice and helpful they do catering also
Ive lived around lao people most of my life in texas. This place is the best and closest thing to home cooked laos food I've had since living in the area. I recommend it
Best for authentic lao food. I always make a stop here everytime I'm in Seattle. I've never been disappointed. The owners are really nice and they always make your food fresh on the spot.
Great Loas/Thai "Isan" Market. We love the mini restaurant here. The food is always delicious! Also they have a Great Selection of Medicine and region-specific grocery items.
Small grocery and deli that serves up lao and Thai dishes. Kway chup was awesome and my usual. Plenty of options to go.
Order pho and beef salad taste ok, the kitchen lady keeps on staring customers trying to get food in the fridge. She afraid customers try to open her food.
Authentic and delicious food. Reminds me of home (:
Excellent Lao food. Quick service and reasonably priced. You can also do your grocery shopping in the same place.
Awesome food!!
I really like this place, food is always freshly made, i fell very welcomed because the guy at the register remembers me.
