Expensive! But I love this place. Great beer selection. Meat is well cut and a great selection. All the staff are friendly plus the deli is always satisfying when I need a quick fix. I can't shop here for staples because of the price but for specialty needs or a couple things (including when the coffee is running low) this is the place to go on Beacon Hill.

Just go there. You'll like it. Neat selection of goodies, and the staff are incredibly NICE too. Plenty of parking. On the bus and Rail Route. 09/2022. Hey kids. I've got a brand-new update for you, and you're going to luv it. Behold the gentleman with the blue gloves and standing over various cuts of meat. That folks is Mr. Kenny Wilson. One of the excellent butchers working at the Hill Top Red Apple Store. What you may not know, is that he is the 'Yoda' for making small batch, non weird chemical sausage items. His specialty being...BRATWURST. Your thinking. Yeah, sure, I can get those anywhere. Well if you do think that, your missing out on what this master has been doing for this market for some time now. He makes that ancient and venerable meat product in recipe's you wouldn't think possible. Yet, he's busy at it about every two to three weeks, with something completely new. And every one is absolutely scrumptiously delicious. And that also includes Chicken or pork Italian sausage, plain, sweet and hot, and Chorizo! You KNOW you want it! Just check the photo's for yourselves. So, if your just gaga about bratwurst that's non commercial and honestly made, you know where to go now.

Nice, and I can get certain things, but it's extremely localized in a way that makes it hard to get some of what I buy in Ballard, Loyal Heights, Crown Hill, and Greenwood. I used to go there a lot when I delivered paint from Ballard Miller. Ah, memories. Also, I like a lot of their local items I can't find anywhere else.

Service is great, usually a little crowded in the store. I would recommend caution when outside the store as some sketchy people tend to hang around outside the store. Myself and my sister have both needed to get security in the past because we didn't feel safe while waiting to meet up with friends.

Great neighborhood grocery store. You can tell the staff takes pride in their work--deli counter workers are very friendly and engaging, and the produce department is so carefully arranged/stocked--definitely reflecting the staff's pride in their work.

Store is pricey! No It a huge selection of stuff. It's like a grocery outlet but more expensive. Store is cluttered and iles are small and a bit cramped but it's a clean store with quiet employees. They take EBT too!

A pretty good local market for the area.They have a large wine selection and a deli/Chinatown express hot food section in the back.Prices seem fair.Produce section looks alright.Seems to be as good as other Red Apple markets I've been in.

I love this Red Apple. As you come in the produce dept is right there. Very clean and produce is kept well, anything overripe is pulled. Because it's in an international area you can find things you would not ordinarily find. The same with meat, fish and shellfish. The deli is very different too, as is the bakery. Leftovers are kept in heated holding units. Only bad thing is this store is extremely small for a Red Apple. Look around though, it's easier than going to Chinatown when your in a hurry.

Very expensive for many items. However, I found value in the excellent coffee grinding station. And, the tour de force for me was perfect fried catfish (although everyone back home would faint at the price). Gentrified place despite the classic West Coast laid-back vibe. Its fine as grocers go. It's not bad and it's not outstanding. It's a small neighborhood Market that carries much of the same items you would find at QFC. Some prices seem to be on par while others seemed really really high. My cashier was super nice. It's not somewhere I would do my regular grocery shopping but it's perfect for running out to get something last minute or if you wanted something fresh for lunch and you worked nearby

I love this store. There are so few independent grocers left, we have to support these guys. They have great variety and some items that local company's bring in that the corporate chains "won't allow." Found Yonder cider and Matchless beer, hard to find. Will definitely be back. Also, staff are friendly and seem to genuinely like their jobs.

Small store. Not that much of a selection. Prices are rather high compared to Safeway, Albertsons and Amazon fresh. Doubt I will shop there again. I only tried it as I moved to new neighborhood and received a coupon for Red Apple. Amazon fresh has about the same size selection but lower price. That is important when living on tight food budget each month.

I got there early. The store had been open for about 40mins. I wanted to get the Catfish dinner with 2sides. The Catfish and Yams was yummy. The Greens.....not so much because they had NO seasoning whatsoever. I will go again but next time I think my second side with be the Black Eyed Peas

Best, if only remaining independent supermarket remaining within the city. Full service butcher/meat counter that will debone chicken thighs while leaving the skins on for you. Some of the best counter made sausages in the city. Absolutely the best supermarket salsa to be found outside the Mexican groceries. Friendly staff who are not difficult to find when you need them and always clean and tidy. A little pricier and the selection can be limited compared to the larger Safeways but it's a small independent neighborhood grocer, I'm happy that it exists at all and that I can support it. I consider myself fortunate to be able to walk and shop here for my day to day grocery needs.

Not a large meat selection. But this store has many healthy options for food. The cooked food section has nice prepared meals in a pinch, even fried catfish. The bakery food is good too. The store is a little pricey but overall is very nice and has some items you might not find elsewhere.

I love that I can buy all flats chicken there at any time. Their deli has great catfish and the greens aren't bad either. Although I don't prefer sugar in my greens even though I know why its done. So...I just add a little hot sauce and we're good. I love their variety but some items can be a little pricy.

Good location, great parking. They have a good selection, but their prices are pretty bad. They have lots of produce which is presented well. Good variety and appearance. They also have a broad alcohol selection. Their frozen section is pretty extensive as is their meat department. If you live nearby, you may not have many choices so you'll probably need to go there. I found that if you are very diligent you can find some items that are more reasonable. Stick to those as much as you can and you'll probably do ok!

The to go and ready made food section is the crown jewel of Seattle grocery stores. The chinese food restaurant inside is pretty good and cheap although most of the orange or sesame chicken is probably 80% breaded and not much meat. It's usually chewy and overcooked too but the flavor is good. Prices throughput the grocery store are high end. But they stock stuff no other grocery store in Seattle does. Always clean and well maintained.

Well stocked, lots of customers, some prices are a bit higher. Good location. Older building limits flexibility. Newer and bigger building on same site would be ideal but might not be cost effective. More important to keep the existing store functioning and providing valuable services to the community.

Very convenient because it is within walking distance of where I am currently living. If I just need a few items it's nice to be able to walk to a store instead of getting into the car to drive to a big box store. Prices are a little higher but to be expected because they aren't a big box store. Workers are nice and friendly.

Good place with good food. That's the only negative I can think of is the prices are a tad expensive. Tney are the only place within 20 miles from our con that has cold pasteurised milk in glass bottles.

I love Red Apple stores. Great alternative to the mega corporate grocers that seem to dominate our area.. Locally owned and great service. I've shopped at 4 other of their outlets besides my hometown one. My only concern here at this location- and I've shopped here about 6 times - is not the fault of the store. It's the people who let their kids run wild, opening packages and leaving a mess in their wake like this is their personal playground. If only they would realize what a strain that puts on the stores' pricing and how the rest of us have to make up the loss. I only hope the owners are able to keep this going in a long established neighborhood so we won't have to resort to the blights of Costco, Walmart, Kroger or Safeway.

If you stick to their sale items you'll do ok but most everything else is overpriced. The produce is often questionable. It's an alright store considering there isn't another around for quite as ways. But if there was decent, local competition, they'd be doomed.

As far a Red Apple markets go thus one stands out. The fried catfish is a major draw but so is the incredible selects of wholesome and fresh foods. This market has much of what you need for a healthy diet. Expect to pay a bit for it and it can get crowded so plan accordingly.

As to many people already said. This is a great grocery store. Friendly staff and very helpful. But I'm not here to repeat the same old thing. I'm here to tell you my favorite thing about this little market. Luagh all you want. But I love the deli. Great selection of hot foods and Chinese food. But the one thing that stands out the most is the handmade sandwiches they do make. Order one from the basic Turkey with the lettuce tomatoes and onions and condiments. Or order my favorite all time sandwich, that you wont find other places. Is a cat fish sandwich. Deep fried to perfection and finger licking good. It's a must try.

I can get majority of my Vegan products from here, I take off one star only because they don’t sell the big tubs of Forager or Kitehill unsweetened almond/cashew yogurt. Great neighborhood grocery store with wide selection of fresh and ethnic products. Hot prepared foods section in the back includes Chinese entree favorites. Prices are higher but that is expected for being one of few medium-large sized grocery stores in the area.

I lived on Beacon Hill when I was growing up and I always remember driving by the Red Apple. It wasn't the most glamorous grocery store, but it was always there. I had not been back until a year or so ago and I was really surprised to see how it had be renovated to appeal to the new clientele moving into the area. The store is nicer on the inside - not a luxury grocery store but a nice one. When visiting around 2pm the clientele were on the older side and seemed like the kinds of people who lived on Beacon Hill before the light rail station. I'm glad some of them still live here. The people working there are pretty friendly - especially the people working at deli counter and the Chinese food counter. My most recent visit was specifically to try the deli counter food. I ordered a couple fried chicken thighs and a couple fried catfish filets. Both were tasty and flavorful. While it wasn't the best fried chicken I've had, it's really good fried chicken regardless of the fact you're getting it from deli counter in a grocery store. The fried catfish were some of the best I've ever had. They were crisp not greasy. The filets weren't too muddy tasting and they're a good price at $13.99 per pound. When you consider that two pieces were about 0.3 pounds you can get a healthy amount of fish for the price. I also had the lunch special of fried rice with two entrees. I got the orange chicken and string bean chicken. It's good Americanized Chinese food and it hits the spot. I expect to return soon and am happy to support this local grocery store.

Excellent selection of products, varies widely from the Western Family brand generics all the way up to exotic stuff you can't find at most stores. I appreciate that they mix it up in the beer/cider section as well. Marked down a star because there's a bit of price gouging going on to the tune of $1 or more per item higher than any grocery store close by, but good sales/convenience still often make it worth it.

I like this store. It seems to be run really well. It's a little expensive on certain items but I feel like I save time because I don't spend stupid amounts of time in line like other grocery stores down the hill. Plus we live on top of a hill with few options.

Friendly and helpful service for the most part and wide selection of goods including a pretty nice array of Mexican and Asian food items, but their prices are ridiculous, sometime 3-4 times more than normal supermarket prices. Unfortunately the produce is not always as fresh as it appears on the outside, despite the aforementioned prices, so better to buy less ripened stuff and let it ripen at home than risk getting home, cutting it open, and finding it black or moldy inside. High prices may be due to rising rent costs in the area, and the lack of a competitor in the same neighborhood. The prices don't seem to bother the wealthier transplants, but for a lot of people it's just another form of gentrification. Another place in the neighborhood that a lot of folks really need, but can't always afford to use.

It's a just-fine grocery store. It has whatever you might want for dinner or munchies. Prices are much higher than comparable stores. They are the only grocery store in the area so they can get away with having higher prices than most places. There's a parking lot and a Chinese deli in the back, so that's a plus.

Absolutely my favorite grocery store. I live in Georgetown, which has no real grocery stores, so my options are Rainier Valley, White Center, or Beacon Hill. It is locally owned and operated, utilizing local supply chains for the vast majority of their products. They offer a plethora of in house made products as well, ranging from spice blends to salsas. You might pay a little more than a national retailer, but it's worth it. They even had paper products during the early weeks of Covid-19. Shop Local

Decent location, I go here occasionally for random things we need or for a snack after my daughter is done with math tutoring at Kumon 1 min walking distance away. It's a smaller store for sure but what I like is the selection of "ethnic" goods that they have. Things u can't always find at Safeway for instance might be better found here without having to go to a specialty store.

It's a busy place. Pleasant cashiers, good food; however I think it may need diversity training for unconcious bias towards black people (it was an Asian man at the counter). I was asked to check my back pack at customer service, yet there were PLENTY (at least 5 white people) walking around with their backpacks on. Their backpacks weren't even 50% full, mines was quite obviously full to the brim with college books and supplies making a heavy thud sound as I placed it on the counter. So in this scenario, who has more opportunity to steal? As a result I shop there less frequently now.

Local Washington chain, and the central grocery store on North Beacon Hill. Compact store but has a lot of products. I can find Filipino ube bread, Mexican concha bread, Chinese deli food, fried chicken, etc. This store is a melting pot of Beacon Hill. It's good seeing familiar faces each time, whether they be employees, or fellow shoppers.

It's the only place on North Beacon hill that you can go to get a quick cold drink or something to eat. Prices are a little high but I guess that's because they're the only grocery store within 4 miles. (Safeway in Othello is the next closest).

Red Apple is one of the most overpriced grocery stores in Seattle. I pretty much have to shop here since it's the closest place to my house, but I hate it for that reason. Only thing that's well-priced is the meat. Service is good, though. The people who work here are always friendly.

After the closing of Red Apple on Jackson the one on beacon was closest. The prices are almost double than what I am used to paying and hard to find the same food.
