Reviews of El Mercado Latino

We were looking for a quick snack while walking around Pike Place Market and didn’t want to spend it standing in line at Pike Place Chowder so we stopped here. It’s a cute spot that doubles up as a grocery store. It felt homey and wasn’t really crowded. The clerk was friendly. I ordered the Salmon Empanada and my husband ordered the Chorizo Empanada. Both were warm and flavorful. It really hit the spot while we continued shopping around. Definitely worth the stop!

For my American friends, this is a wonderful store if you are into cooking Latino food or Brazilian food. They have a large selection of Spanish typical brands, they sell fresh Meats and Poultry and Spanish pastries.
The staff is friendly, warm and very helpful. They are Bilingual.
Pessoal e muinto Carinhoso. Atenção total.
We highly recommend this store. I am of a Latino background and I speak three languages. We do not have this type of store where we live so we took advantage since we were in the area.
There is plenty of parking and please park diagonal with the front end of your car up on the sidewalk. Parking is tight. Dont block store entrances.

Everything Yoko's little Puerto Rican heart could ask for! We went midday so they were sold out of pastries but they had great options mango and guava. A collection of amazing fresh seasonings, all the sauces, cookies, breads, canned beans and all things goya! So nice to see a piece of culture tucked into the crazy pike place market. Love supporting the culture bought some snacks and spices can't wait to open them up!

Yummy empanadas!! They offer them warm to eat right away or cold for you to make & enjoy at home. The employees are also always lovely. They have many spices, treats, and drinks you cant find around here!!

Beef empanada was excellent. Need to return and try other things. Note that they have to warm the empanadas. So even though it opened at 9:30, they weren't ready and I didn't get one until 10:15 when it was still *slightly* cold in the middle.

Nice little shop, big variety of groceries. Empanadas was just so so.
Tim Mitchell
Under the radar place for very good empanadas. Reminds me of argentine style empanadas.
Sy Smith
The empanadas here are so yummy! And the staff is really friendly and helpful!

They have some amazing variety of tasty empanadas! Also a good spot to find very rare spices from across the globe. This is also my go to place for eucalyptus leaves which makes a great ingredient for my herbal tea.
hello hilly
This little gem has all of the Latin specialty items you could ever desire - in the heart of Pike's Place Market. The Empanadas are on point 🫀🌵 …

Great selection of hot sauces and spices, plus a variety of empanadas.

The empanadas, while good, are definitely not on the top of my list.

If you're in a pinch and you need 12 mandarin jarritos immediately, then I highly recommend. However... If you are more casually interested in purchasing some hot sauce, then I'd try elsewhere.
Jake Ayala
I come here for two things and two things only... for the large selection of hot sauces and my mane the cashier.
The selection of ho sauces is pretty nice, you could end up having a different hot sauce every day for a year or more!

A lot of Goya products, but extremely overpriced. Only if you are in rush and missing some sofrito or craving on spending to create a latin dish.
Elena Itchel
It's ok; you can find many different products from Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela, but it's expensive. Many of the products you can find in a regular supermarket for less price.

Wow.
If you haven't had the triple cream Brie with truffle, honey and hazelnut, you haven't lived
This concoction gets my coworkers and I running to the kitchen when we know the office manager has ordered it for a get together
Don't get me wrong, the other platters of cheese and meat are tasty too...but we literally huddle around the truffle Brie confection and scrape every bit of it clean before moving on to the other platters. Sorry other cheese platters

It's great to have a place like this to get the necessary ingredients to cook dishes from our countries. We mostly get Items from Argentina like aji molido, filo dough crepes to make empanadas, spices to make chimuchurri, dulce de leche and Argentinian oregano. We used to get organic Mate there but the place is expensive and they don't always have it, we consume it a lot so now we order the Mate online from a great site.
Its just fun to go to all the little shops at Pike Place Market. A very colorful, creative and eclectic place!

Over priced but you can get products that are hard to find elsewhere in Seattle. Most grocery chain stores just carry a small variety of MexTex pseudo-Mexican products. This store carries products and ingredients for all types of authentic Latin American cuisines. Personally I love Cuban cuisine and the mextex products available at grocery chain stores don't cut it, too spicy and variety too limited. I found all kinds of awesome ingredients here for making my favorite Cuban dishes but paid 3 times what they go for in cities where these same products are available in any grocery store. But... sometimes it's just worth it when you can't find the products anywhere else. I would give this store 4 stars on product variety but 2 stars on price. So lets average it out to 3 stars keeping in mind that you can find almost anything you need for authentic Latin American cuisines not easily found elsewhere in Seattle and of course price and location, location, location go hand in hand.

Three words, Kurupi Yerba Mate. Was really excited that they have it there. It's hard to come by Yerba Mate to begin with, particularly Kurupi from Paraguay. They have it here, bought a couple of kilos before heading home to Phoenix. Love this little shop.
Kevin Hoffmann
Delicious empanadas, so many different choices. A must try! Get there early before they run out;)
Aaron Thompson
They have a huge selection of yerba mate - love that. We tried the smoked salmon empanadas and those were great. Service was really friendly.
Aaron Robles
9 dollar bottle of hot sauce? Yikes!
However at the same time there's a lot of stuff here that you can't really find anywhere else for some reason so I suppose it just depends on how badly you want that imported bottle of sauce etc.
Justin Valentin
A little pricey but the best place to find ingredients for latin cuisine
Simone Hanson
You can find a few Brazilian items, like guaraná Antártica, açaí, coffee...I was hoping to find frozen coxinha croquets or pastel dough! It was worth it the visit still!
Diego Mejia
The only place I can find what I need for some Colombian home cooking, but man is it expensive. I almost cried when I saw my first purchase 's receipt.
Luan Roberts
This place serves warm chicharones, the best I have found in Seattle. Get the chili lime, they're delicious!
Michael Evans
The empanada here was just okay. A little unseasoned, but the pastry was pretty nice.
Darren May
Great empanadas and selection of latin american spices
Benn McGuire
Little pricey but good selection. Make sure you check expiration dates!
Jonathan Perry
Lots of awesome hot sauces! Just a bit overpriced
