I want to start off by saying - I love Outpost! Always have good vegan options in both the cafe and their pre-made food section. However, I just ordered a tofu bahn mi on my lunch break, and when I got home, the bag had a tofu steak sandwich. This is fine, considering I knew the tofu steak sandwich is also vegan. I was super excited for my tofu bahn mi, ordered lunch during the work day, and this has happened to me more than once. For that, I will give four stars instead of five.

Really amazing and unique grocery store with lots of natural options. Truly beautiful and delicious gluten free pizzas, Chicken and artichokes, yummy. Way more expensive than other stores however they have more vegan and gluten free options than anywhere else. I'd definitely call this a specialty store, not for your basic needs unless you're vegetarian or vegan. The staff wasn't that great, honestly not one person asked if they could help otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

The clerks are as friendly as ever and more than willing to help you find what you're looking for. The store is undergoing renovation, so there are currently some bumps, especially on the floor. A bigger problem is related to the same things affecting everyone...shortage of staff and supply line issues. Still, it's worth shopping at Outpost despite the challenges.

I've been a member for quite a few years. The store in Bay view has become more familiar and it's smaller size is comfortable. Makes shopping a snap. Nice selections, especially the produce! Being a foodie I look for fresh and they don't let you down. Need help? Just ask, very friendly.

I came across this store about 3-4 years ago and I’ve been coming ever since. They have a variety of products and produce to buy. Sometimes it does come to a pricey point but it’s not Walmart, you know? It’s a natural foods place and you’re gonna pay more for it, it makes sense. Anywho, I specifically love the apples here. Also, the cafe is brilliant. Most sundays I stop by to get me a Sunrise Sandwich and some orange juice. It’s my favorite!!

The pricing here is wild, but the produce quality is great. So, there's value to be had. Also, the selection of really specific hippy/health foods is nice. I'm not sure how to justify becoming a member. The benefit seems pretty low. The cafe is stellar for a quick bite though.

This was my first experience there and it was great! I’ve been looking for a grocery store in the Milwaukee area that lets you bring your own containers. I’ve been to other places that claim they do but make it obvious that it’s a huge inconvenience to them. This place made it so easy. I only got a few things but I’ll definitely be back. The cashier, I think her name was Sophia, was fabulous at helping me navigate everything!

I love this place. Prices can be a littler higher than elsewhere, but you honestly can't put a price on high-quality food that supports the local farmers and community. My produce from here lasts longer than other grocery stores, and the employees are very helpful. They even have homemade reusable bags you can borrow if you forgot yours! You really get what you pay for here.

Everyone is always wearing a mask, even the customers. It's a very relaxing and uncrowded place for a person that dislikes grocery shopping such as myself. The service is friendly, and I've yet to find a better grocer nearby for gluten free bakery and microwaveable meals.

I love shopping at outpost. Produce is almost always delicious! Meat and fish selections are high quality, if somewhat limited in scope. They've done a good job in getting pricing to be reasonable. If you are trying to eat healthy, good food, this is a good place to shop, but probably can't be your only grocery store.

We go here to buy their frozen pizza dough. It is the best we have found. We also go to buy different bulk nuts. Have tried the cashews raw, regular, almonds, flavored almonds and raw almonds. Love them all! Cashiers are always friendly and ask me if I'm a owner. You can buy ownership in this business which gets you perks. We drive 30 miles just to visit for the mentioned products.

Awesome, awesome grocery store that aims to do more than sell organic produce! This place is loaded with all sorts of resources on how to live a more healthy life, including classes on how to use and maintain a rain barrel, how to compost in your backyard, and more. The staff have always been incredibly kind, going out of their way to answer questions. The cafe is fantastic, filled with fresh and tasty options made on the premises. The produce is often local, and the cheese section is - of course - very well stocked, with items from Wisconsin and elsewhere. The bulk foods' section has a great selection, especially if you're interested in trying new grains. The meats and prepared foods' sections are also fully stocked with plenty of options to choose from. Yes, the prices are not cheap, but the quality is stellar, and the enterprise a worthy one. Totally wish there was an Outpost down here in Chicagoland!

Not bad pricing for the quality, although sometimes the produce can be a little expensive. I love the kombucha, tea, and frozen burrito selection, and the staff is also pretty friendly and knowledgeable if you have questions. I'm definitely considering becoming a member, since the location is so convenient.

Meat selection is very lacking. Store presents well, is clean and prices for high quality goods are reasonable. This is not a place I would go regularly mostly due to location. However, if you're looking for a very nice grocery store with great quality and modest selection, Outpost may be a good fit for you.

I belong to 2 coops in the Twin Cities and this one had many options I had not seen before. As an out of town visitor, it was great to see their focus on local products. I was looking for prepared vegan foods in the cafe area, but not many options. A very diverse wine spirits and alcohol selection for such a small store! Lots of good produce options.

While I am not a member, I feel lucky to have Outpost in my neighborhood. From time to time, I stop in to buy a variety of items. The produce is great. I love their bakery - especially the cookies. Of course they have a large selection of personal health products and all sorts of flours.

I wanted to like Outpost better than I did, but over the year that I shopped there, I was generally unimpressed. The prices are not competitive compared to places I've patronized in the past, and the staff were generally unhelpful and unfriendly across my visits there (except for the cookie dough lady one day!). They have a good selection, and I enjoyed their bulk section, but it just took forever to find anything because I could never track down staff to assist me. When I checked out, I always felt like I was a bother to the cashiers. Overall it's ok, but I've had WAY better.

I love Outpost! We buy most of our produce there in the warmer months and the prices really aren't much different than conventional produce, especially if you buy by season. The produce just tastes better too. We don't buy a lot of meat there but will when our budget gets a little roomier. Excellent quality and a clean, friendly environment. I nearly always bring my toddlers and they love it.

We absolutely love this grocery store! The produce and fruit can not be compared to any other local grocery store. They push the community forward with their ethics practices and eco conscious attitude. The vegan options the offer for just about everything also can make this a one stop shop for us! Wonderful grocery store for those who care about organic foods. Well organized and clean. Also offers a salad bar, fresh bread and pastries as well as some tasty, healthy meals for take away or immediate consumption at the small restaurant seating. Their variety of smoothies are great.

Simply the best selection of organic wines. The "Fork Cafe" is so convenient to grab a quick bite to eat when the girls and I are out! Scrumptious! I hate these so called health food stores that wont sell liquor like outpost! Outpost has a huge selection and I can quickly grab a few bottles on my lunch break or after work. Liquid lunch make it a fun day!

Nice neighborhood market with great organic/natural food selection. Large selection of bulk items as well. Conveniently located with ample parking on South KK. Only complaint is the prices can be high (one day, a single head of cauliflower rang up at $17), but that is expected given the high quality of this food. Also, I love the horseradish cheddar dip!

Outpost is great!! I'm not a co-op member but I feel like I always find good deals there. I have a CSA that I pick up weekly from this Outpost location which is super convenient as I live fairly close. I've had food catered from here, gotten the deli meals to-go, and ordered a custom designed vegan birthday cake... all of which is always great!

Much better today. Fresh green beans. Tomatoes not so hot. Strawberries ok, need help. Romaine lettuce wilted. Crammed in too tight. Swiss chard just OK. Kale great. Glad it was not so crowded when I went. Staff was busy and checking and stocking. Great Job!

The selection here is natural and organic and yet they still have a variety of options! Staff is very friendly and outgoing and made the experience very easy and welcoming. Process are higher than most places but that reflects in the quality of food you are purchasing. Definitely worth it to stop in!

They have some of the most ridiculously friendly people working the checkouts and the store is very easy to work your way around. Prices are hit or miss, and there's a lot you can find that's cheaper and in some cases higher quality at the nearby Target, which I think should be a source of embarrassment. Your gross frozen vegetables are twice as much and half as nice as the ones at Target? Am I really whining about that on a google review?

Grabbed a bite to eat at the cafe. Jessica and Julie were super helpful with explaining ingredients on their sandwiches, freshly made juices and smoothies. My 4 year old nephew has food allergies so I was pretty confident that the food and desserts served were safe for him. There's also a deli section that sells normal deli stuff, the rotisserie chicken is priced higher than pick n save or Wal-Mart and there's also a credit union located in the store. I definitely would come here again for the cafe. Prices are moderate.

Check your receipt -- my wife saved $31 today by checking hers -- she had purchased several sales items that did not ring up correctly. And this is not the first time she's caught an error - sometimes in the store's favor, sometimes in ours. That being said, we are very happy outpost owners that will continue to shop here. They have the best prices on organic foods that we know of in the city. (Yes, Woodman's may have better prices, but that's a 40 minute drive for us, and the percentage they carry that's organic much lower.)

Just visited this Outpost location for lunch today and was very satisfied! The Fork I believe is their little restaurants name. They have options for the meat eater to the vegan. I had the bread fed beef burger and it was very good. It's no full of fluff burger but very basic and the beef was delicious. Not dry or blan at all! The grocery side of the store was buzzing with people shopping. Pretty cool atmosphere

Love. This place gives me hope for humanity. It is the only safe place to shop indoors during this time as they have been great about enforcing mask rules. Abbey and the curbside pickup team are the absolute best.

I love Outpost. The more I come here, the more impressed I am. It has everything you would expect from a Whole Foods, but the produce actually seems like it's cheaper most of the time. And I love that shopping there is supporting a local coop as opposed to a huge Whole Foods. Keep doing what you're doing, Outpost!

The price for everything is relatively high, however. Some products that they carry can be found at other stores for a lesser cost. An excellent natural foods co-op/market. It doesn't have a million brands of frozen pizza like you'll find at a Woodmans or Pick 'n Save, but it isn't that kind of store: The emphasis is on quality (and in many cases, artisanal) products, some of which are hard or impossible to find elsewhere in the area. The produce selection is very good, and is our go-to for salad greens (bulk mesclun!), leafy greens (such as collards), blood oranges, and the usual, day-to-day staples. The meat/seafood selection is not huge, but it is high quality. The prepared/deli foods are great--the dips are delicious, though my favorite (tofu cashew dip) has been harder and harder to find. The cheese selection is small but quality--we return again and again to get Roth Kase Buttermilk Blue and St. Andre Triple Creme. The bulk goods section is fantastic, and it is well maintained. This is also our go-to place for kombu and some other Japanese items. Outpost makes an effort to find natural versions of standard shelf items that you'll find in mainstream markets, but also does a great job of finding odd and unique things that you won't find elsewhere--pomegranate candy, umeboshi plums, quinoa crackers. We love this place.

Outpost is my favorite grocery store. Coop model, GMO free, and a socially conscientious enterprise that gives back an extraordinary amount to the local community. That being said, the Bay View location pales in comparison to the Capitol Drive store. Far less selection of almost everything, though sometimes more unique items available at the butchery section.

This is your place for all things natural/organic/healthy. With that, prices are pretty high, but there are a good amount of things you can buy for a pretty good price even being organic. I'll definitely be back here, and I recommend getting juice or a smoothie--oh man!

I would shop there a lot more often if their prices were lower. It is the only place so that I can find some of the health food items that I need, so I do go back occasionally.

Yes is it expensive, but it is more costly in the long run to consume junk food and chemical additives. The baked goods from Bruno's in Chicago are great deals. I like the 2 lb "health bread" for $2. Also $2 for a container of alfalfa sprouts is solid.
