Great neighborhood shop. Authentic and good variety of products. Prices are higher than a typical giant store however you get very good quality product. Groppi is becoming my first choice for fresh meat, fresh deli meat and cheese. Hot sandwiches are great and the cold/hot bars are always good to check. The store is very narrow but there is a ramp at the entrance. Street parking only.

The pannis are so good, their deli has a wonderful selection, and their grocery isle has pretty much everything you need for a good meal. To top it all off there is also a bakery inside! I wish I found this place sooner

Meats and seafood are exceptional. There is also a hot and cold food bar for dine in at bar or carry out. There is a bar inside the market which has seating. Also a great patio outside. Groceries are also available. Same as a big grocery store but a better selection of items. Wine and beer are also available here.

I usually really love this place but tonight my fiancé was counting on it for dinner as he works across the street and even though it’s advertised on google as being open until 8 daily with a note that these hours were updated by phone recently, they are indeed closed. We rely on food stamps so going to a restaurant in the area as an alternative is not an option. Please have correct hours, now my fiancé is starving at work.

Awesome little grocery store that has historic value! There are convenient options of oil, vinegar, cleaning material, snacks, produce, meats , cheese, and so much more! Each time I visit I grab a sandwich (I have tried about 6 different ones and they are all tasty)! I will continue to visit.

Bought some freshly made Shepherd's pie and some vegitarian lasagna. The Shepherd's pie was too salty again. This is the second time I've gotten it and it's been too salty. The veggie lasagna had way too much cheese and too few noodles and veggies. So sad because their food use to be so good

This food market is amazing, honestly i thought it was just a sandwich shop before it was "my turn" to pick up lunch for the co-workers because they would just call it Groppi's and I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to the store that they had a massive selection of fine meats, cheeses, alcoholic beverages, and much more. The thing that really gives this establishment a 5 star rating is the service they have thought there was not a single employee working that day that didn't talk to me whether that be a full conversation or just a friendly greeting. This food market is worth your time and money to check out, and I highly encourage getting one of their panini sandwiches.

Grocery, amazing bakery, hot and cold deli, huge alcohol selection, and an indoor bar. There's an outdoor patio and you're within walking distance of a few parks. This is a south side landmark. You can get pretty much all your standard grocery needs here. Delicious hot paninos, an scrumptious hot case, and a premier cold case for all your deli needs. They carry a lot of local bakeries and stock their own treats. Half the square footage seems to be dedicated to alcohol and you can even sit at the bar inside. I don't know anything else you could want from this place and if there is they probably do it and I haven't mentioned it.

I come by for the breakfast sandwiches pretty regularly, and I am never disappointed. Highly recommend visiting this store. The customer service is great, and the patio is chill. Edit on 02.25.22 Still a fantastic place! Love the sandwiches even more, and sometimes wish there was a rewards program for getting sandwiches. Highly recommend!

Well deserving of it’s almost 5 star rating. This food market (more like a deli and old-time grocery store, with a small bar and hot sandwich counter) is a gem to visit. Walking in draws visions of getting groceries 100 years ago, but with a modern selection. Groppi’s is far larger on the inside than it appears from outside. It has a fine selection of meats, poultry, and fish. This includes hard-to-find items like liver and duck pate. I will add that I did have a panini. It was good, but not great. The panini focaccia bread had great flavor but it over-powered the Ruben ingredients so all I could taste was bread. However, the prices are great (no, you DO NOT need a full panini unless you are ordering for 2 people) so get one and see if you love it!

Groppi's has an excellent hot deli counter. If you don't feel like cooking but want something more than fast food Groppi's deli is the way to go. They also have a very friendly staff. Parking can be a little tough but you'll find something. Enjoy!

This is one of our go-to stops for lunch when we are traveling in the area for work. Lots of hot and cold food options for a quick lunch or dinner, plus the bakery case it's full of amazingly delicious (and pretty!) goodies. The portions are generous - the half size panini is enough for two of us with a side of one of the delicious salads. The curry chicken salad is wonderfully spiced. We just tried the three bean quinoa salad and it had such a bold, unique flavor. Lots of interesting things to try here!

Definitely a place I will be visiting again when I'm in town. A hidden gem, that's definitely a must for groceries.

Large liquor & wine offerings. Numerous bakery items. The only reason that I didn't give a five star rating is due to high prices.

Nice local grocery store the Isles are a little combined and condensed. Customer service is excellent. They have a great produce and deli section. The bakery is awesome. A little pricey and they don't take food stamps. Overall great little store.

My wife and I truly enjoy shopping at this very unique hidden gem. A little pricy, yet delicious! There is a small full service bar in the back, out of the way from the grocery area (probably suited for the locals & I don't drink). My wife usually sends me there for a sandwich, salad and a few speciality items. A must see! Oh, they are not to far from South Shore Yacht Club and just around the corner from the Coast Guard station.

Below is my old review of a bad experience here. I hadn’t been back since the old review, but just recently I moved to Bayview and decided to give it another try. My last interaction with an employee was funny and helpful. She was a such a delight and she actually made me smile. My girlfriend also has had good experiences since the old review. Old review I normally love this place. It's cute, even though it's more expensive then my local grocery store, this store just has a cute feeling about it. I love going here, but the last time I was in (a few hours ago) the woman there was so insanely rude that my girlfriend almost started yelling at her. I don't know what her problem was, but she almost charged my girlfriend, knowninly, the wrong amount before someone else (the manager?) pointed out that she was about to charge her card $296! The woman fixed it, but was so rude about it. My girlfriend and I both bought a bunch of stuff from the bakery, and while looking at it the woman (I think named Kate or something like that) was staring at us looking but didn't offer any help. Another employee had to tell her to help us. As we were picking out the baked good we told her they were separate order, but while checking out she told someone she would have to void the transaction because she added them all together. I work at a retail store in Bay View and I would NEVER treat a customer the way she treated us. I was very tempted to call the store and tell them about her attitude.

We were referred here by a woman on reception at the Lake Express Ferry building as we were looking for lunch while waiting for the ferry. From the outside looked small, but on the inside so much more with a wealth of food and produce choices. My wrap was the tastiest thing I had eaten since being on our trip in the USA. This is a one-of-a-kind stop in this part of Milwaukee. It's like an antique grocery store. They have everything. They have Deli Foods, fancy breakfast pastry, you name it. This is a Bay View staple but you can find more than just staples at this amazing local corner store. Beyond the typical produce and daily cooking ingredients you'd expect at a store of this size, they also have a wide selection of authentic Italian import groceries. Their butcher section, though, is by far the highlight with homemade sausages that are out of this world. Their famous spiral saltisa sausages are something you've gotta try at least once and their red hot Italian sausages are so flavorful and spicy, you can't get enough. I've been going to this place since I was a kid and I was sad when it almost went out of business and closed, but Sendik's did a great job revivifying a neighborhood gem and keeping its well earned charm.

They have absolutely fantastic Paninis that are also a good deal. 6 stars for those. I like their meat and cheese selection but most of their produce is overpriced. Especially their pre packaged bread and naan tends to be older and much to expensive. It is nice if you need just a few things and live close by. Or if you make the drive for the Panino and happen to pick up a few things.

Groppi's from SSYC and were amazed at the unique shopping experience and types and quality of everything that is available. Very gracious and knowledgeable staff at all the counters and a butcher with some great information about what's available. Quite possibly the best grocery shopping experience we've had. We plan on going back as many times as we can in our 4 night stay in Milwaukee!

Been going to Groppi's for many years. A powerhouse boutique mini-grocery. Great meat and cheese variety, decent bakery selection, good fruit and vegetable area, tiny freezer section, great beer and wine, a quick-service ala-carte area, bulk candy in big jars, a mini-bar, a butchery. I've eaten many paninis here. It's a tiny place of narrow hallways, packed densely with quality.

This is the best Deli and the only place to get food close to the Milwaukee Lake Express ferry dock! The food is fresh and authentic Italian. You can buy many varieties of fruit and produce but we went for the panini! Two halves is alot for two adults but get whole panino (s) and eat them for a week! Gracious barristes and great coffee choices. Bellissimo! !

Every time I go to Groppi I'm never disappointed in the service and quality of their food. It has that old world charm and the feeling that you stepped back in time when things were simple. I hate food shopping and can't stand the idea of waiting in long lines at such stores like Pick N Save. So if you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by and check this place out. I'm only allowed to give this a five star rating but Google needs to step up its game and allow me to give Groppi s a ten star availability. Because that's what I would rate this place. A Ten Star!

Burgers. I don't care where you've been. I don't care what you think. No restaurant can touch this. Get all your fixins. Saute your mushrooms (they'll cook on their own just set it low and go). Get your fry pan ready to fry an egg. Cut that tomato. Pull out your lettuce. Pull out pickle if that's your thing. Cheese. Go to Groppi's and get the prime ground beef. Get buns there too. Think you're a man? Ask for a 12oz. When everything is ready, open a beer. Heat up the grill and reserve a cool side or clean off that top rack. Dimple those patties. Throw on your meat and sear it. Both sides. Then cool side or top rack it. Close the lid. Take a deep breathe and sip. Patience. Check the mushies. Put the egg in to fry. Put on the buns. Pineapple? Clean plate. Pull the buns off. Cheese it. Meat on buns. Apply toppings and go*. You will finish and say "I don't remember eating that fast". *Do not put it down. Ask for help with more toppings if you need. Hungry? Get a Kobe (Omg! Yes! ) hotdog too. So goooood!

First I would like to mention that I was once a huge fan of Groppi's; that recently changed when I unfortunately met the owner. While the staff is phenomenal, I had one of the worst interpersonal experiences in my life with the owner. It began on the Groppi's patio when he burst into an outrage with one of the musicians over a particular song choice (not sure which song it was). While I was attending with my wife and daughter, he repeatedly was shouting profanities at the musician. When I asked him to keep it down with my family there he started shouting them at me and telling me to "get the f*** out of his store". Apparently he felt the song had a gay reference and he did not want any of that "gay political bulls***" in his store. When I explained that I was a regular customer who would never "Shop the Gropp" again, he threatened to kill me in front of my family. He was clearly intoxicated and it was a terrible experience. It is a shame considering what the original Groppi family has meant to the community. However it pains me to say "Stop the Gropp".
