Reviews of Asian International Market
Tammy B
I have yet to find a papaya salad in the city made by anyone else, that can beat the Thai style papaya salad made to order here.
And don't forget to order some sticky rice too!
Steve S
Very Nice & Friendly staff your one stop Asian market for all your needs if you're planning to Cook asian cuisines at home !! They usually keep everything well Stocked also Love there papaya Salad !!
Benjamyn Giordano
If you are an asian living in the area you must go even smells like you are in thailand. The good part where you smell the fresh herbs they have the little hot rub ons which are behind the counter. Some utensils to choose from too
Lani Mercado
I come here for all my cooking essentials they always have a good selection of items you can’t find elsewhere. The fact they make quick bites is also a plus have been coming here since I was young. The jeow bong is so good!!
Johnny Herr
I love the papaya stand in the back. I like it thai style medium hot, with baby crabs, dried shrimp and peanuts. I add the nam sausage (found in the refrigerator by the registers) and whole shrimp with the spicy pork rinds. You can also get sticky rice from the deli. The workers are very nice and they have a great Asian grocery selection. If you are in the Silver City area definitely stop by for your Asian groceries. They also make alot of Lao staples such as Jeow Bong (a roasted pepper sauce), deep fried beef slices and eggplant pepper.
Anonymous Person
Polite, helpful staff, great selection of foods. Plenty of options including fresh produce, flavors and dietary types for sauces, and the store is kept clean.
See Yeah
Great products, friendly cashier. My only caution is when purchasing fresh produce, items might be questionable especially if prewrapped or bundled together.
Kennedy Song
Street parking only. Scary to park on street when the main road is super busy
Nathan Erickson
The store has mostly Thai ingredients, with some Sichuan flavors, and then general East Asian ingredients filling in the rest of the shelves.
Fresh papaya salad is awesome and grocery prices are decent.
Nathaniel Hope
Great spot for Thai and Lao grocery items. One of the highlights is the deli with papaya salad already made and made to order.
Emily G
They manage to pack a lot into a small space! My favorite thing about this shop, though, are the fresh side dishes, which sell out before noon every day - always loads of choices, but always something different, which makes it a lot of fun to check back in from time to time. We really loved the banana rice pudding and all the coconut-sweetened desserts.
John Rodriguez
Really friendly and the place is very clean they also have a cook station and they make fresh food I am yet to order but try if you can you might have to stop in and see for yourself I have not ordered so I don't know what they serve
Katherine Valencia
I am absolutely in love with this place. I am mexican but for some reason I feel like I'm at home when I come here. Everybody that works here is just so helpful and so absolutely sweet. They have amazing food in the fridge that is ready made and I always have such a hard time choosing what I want because of all the different options.
This is the only asian market I have been to since I moved here but I really don't need to go searching for another place just because I love going in at least once a week to visit all the wonderful people that work here. I could not love a place more. Thank you!
Lex Lorther
I've been shopping here for the past 4 years, and every trip is always a pleasant experience.
Let me start off with the cons. Lack of parking, although they do have off street parking in the back it is usually full. It's a small store so don't expect them to stock every Asian ingredient, they mainly stock on southeast Asian items.
What I love about this place is convenience, it's down the block from my place. Staffs are always friendly, they greet customers with a smile and are always willing to help you find what you need. The place is small but very well organized and clean. My favorite part about this place is their small deli and the tasty thai/Laotian freshly prepared food they offer daily (their steam buns are to die for, but they sell out quick! You have to be an early bird). What sets this place apart from other small grocery store is their fresh vegetables. I've never seen vegetables from them that looked out dated, they seem to do a good job on that compared to other asian grocery stores around Milwaukee.
Ahnoki Doxtator
I love shopping here for Asian groceries! I also buy some veggies here because of good pricing and freshness. I love to mix my tacos with Asian food so this is perfect for me! They sell 36oz jars of Kimchi here and it's delicious! The staff here are friendly and helpful! They sell fresh papaya salad at the deli! All the near by Asian restaurants shop here also.
Dave Shapiro
Excellent place to shop for the ingredients for Asian meals. They have everything from spices to fresh vegetables and dishes to serve it all in. Much larger than most other Asian grocery stores. The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you bring in a recipe and a specific 'name brand' is not available in the U.S., they will suggest substitutes. If you are planning on cooking a Thai, Laotian, Hmong or Burmese (Myanmar) dinner, then this is the only place to shop. Great service and great selection.
Gary Shenfield
Went to look for some chow fun noodles we had really liked eating out. Found the noodles, fresh, and in the process got cooking lesson and all the right sauces to try to copy the chow fun dish we had. Turns out this place supplies the restaurant we had dinner at. Very helpful lady there explained how to prepare, sauces we needed, and what to do any not to do. Very clean store, well organized, friendly well informed staff. We were greeted when we walked in and offered help several times.
Keltie Moon
Great variety of foods and every flavor of Mogu Mogu!
Angela D
This is a smaller store, but they have a variety of foods. I was looking for nori sheets, kimchi and papaya. The people that work here are super helpful too. I will definitely be back!
Ziio Shwelone
They have variety of Asian ingredients and supplies from pots and pans to broom and coconut grater. Most of them are from Southeast Asia, more specifically, Thailand. So if you want to try cooling powder for the summer and browse some of the Thai snacks, this is the place. Not mention, there are a station for your freshly made papaya salad, a must-try, however, be careful on the heat, it is quite spicy. The down sides are it is quite small and the price, when compared to other Asian markets, are quite high.
Bea Young
Super friendly people that helped this novice find ingredients for a special recipe. Their Papaya Salad is completely amazing- don't miss it! Order mild unless you are ready for spicy! Will definitely return to this awesome place! B.
Victoria S.
Family owned and operated. Great selection of Asian groceries. The owner is always helpful if you can't find what you are looking for or have questions. Street parking may be difficult to find but that's to be expected for the area.
Craig Burbey
After reading the reviews I had to try the papaya salad. It seemed labor intensive to make but was inexpensive and flavorful. The sticky rice was also nice. I did not buy produce but it looked beautiful and well stocked.
UsMil Wife
BEST SERVICE EVER!! Many asian products to choose from. Plus, they offer FRESH papaya salad, and fresh sticky rice. I'm not Asian but all the workers make you feel at home. They will answer any questions you have.
Andrew Nelson
Pretty good place to go if you want Asian produce for decent prices. The selection isn't as big as Pacific Produce, but it does have a quaint and authentic feel to it. The workers are very polite and will answer any questions you have to the best of their ability.
MG Vang
I used to work really close to this market, it's small but it has tons of options and food is always fresh, if not, they refrigerate it and all you have to do is heat it up. I love their papaya and snacks. Personally one of my favorite places to shop because the people are so kind here. :)
Kevin Atkins
Great selection of produce and super helpful staff. We were looking for a local Asian market after visiting Thailand and falling in love with the food. I don't think we'll have any issue finding everything we need in the future.
Khon Chanthavong
Awesome place to go when you have that need for homemade asian food. I go there for their extensive line if SE Asian sausages. But they have much more. They have an extremely large and fresh produce area. You can even get you're cooking and serving utensils. And dont forget to get the papaya salad. It is the best you will get in MKE. Word to the wise be careful with the extra hot salad, if you are not used to very hot food.
bich nguyen
I came here for papaya salad!
Bush Dao-aroonkiet
Great grocery store with a focus on southeast Asian and Chinese groceries. Need more Korean and Japanese groceries to truly be "international". Staffs were very helpful and the place was clean. Check their frozen food for stuffs like traditional dumplings, fish cake, Thai custard, etc. - stuffs you could rarely find in America!
Matt Bramm
This place is great! Polite staff. Big variety in Asian foods and ingredients. If you love kimchi this is the place to get it.
Mary-Carole Hall
A lot of Asian (mostly Thai) foods and at reasonable prices! I mostly buy Japanese and there wasn't a bunch--mostly the things Japanese cooking shares with other Asian cuisine--but I was pleased to discover that they had various fresh (well, not dried) noodles, including ramen and yakisoba! Come here for your sauces, definitely.
H. M.
This market contains my favorite Thai green papaya salad and Nam Prig, a fresh albeit small selection of Asian herbs and produce, and other items you'd expect to find. Everthing tried tastes good as expected. Street parking is hit or miss.
Ariele Vaccaro
They are so kind and friendly. A gentleman helped me figure out how to cook some of the desserts and gave me recommendations. Also, they take apple pay!!
Al Haywood
Thanks Wan for your excellent customer service! Needed banana leaves to make Puerco Pibil (marinated mexican roasted pork). I think this store is the only store in Milwaukee that sells banana leaves!
Ty Pendley
Great quality produce and super friendly staff! They stock some hard to find ingredients like water bug and frogs. Since I mostly cook Korean, Chinese, and Japanese food, I really only come here for produce.
Jordan Ludyan
I can't speak highly enough of this place. Over the past few years I have been coming here on a weekly basis, as I had taken a keen interest in all manner of SE asian cooking. Not only is this tiny little store stocked with some of the most difficult to find SE Asian culinary ingredients (canned, dried, frozen, etc, as well as seasonal locally grown produce from the hmong/thai/lao community in WI), the family that runs the show are so kind, welcoming, and helpful. To this day I come in and find ingredients i didnt think even existed in the states, let alone milwaukee. They even sell cookware useful for these types of cuisines.
Although they specialize primarily in regional Southeast asian cuisine, there are all manner of other asian cultures represented in the aisles (though not as thoroughly as thai/lao).
This place is truly a gem, and I encourage anyone to go support it. If you are unsure how to use an ingredient you come across that looks interesting, just ask the helpful staff, and if you're interested in thai food--look no further, this is the place to stock up on pantry ingredients.
Aaron Cotter
I love this small business. They are very helpful with a full range of fresh and exotic ingredients. The place is a little old, but this only adds to its charm. Very clean and well organised. Great job keep up the good work.
William H Bonney
Soda and candy rite from asia Fanta flavors we don't have here and even strawberry Kit Kats
S Alan
Stopped through today to grab ingredients for egg rolls. They had everything thing I needed and both ladies working there were extremely helpful.
James Thoenes
Clean and decent prices. Employees were very helpful. A step above many Asian grocery stores in Milwaukee.
Brandon K
Best Asian market around the Milwaukee area. Everything you need.
Michel Chagall
Great store for the basics! Every sauce, noodle, rice, or canned option is here. I wish they had a deli, but packaged snacks abound?
Matt Lynch
Actually my favorite grocery store. Great selection of things you won't find in any "regular" grocery store, including the best snacks you can imagine. Prices are really good and the staff are always super friendly.
Rachel Nishball
Good selection of Asian ingredients and good prices. You probably won't find everything you need but depends what you're looking for. Laos owned store so foods tilt toward Laos and thai. I come for the chili padi, frozen dumplings, and Frozen prata which is half the price of the Small Indian store in downtown Milwaukee.
Anne Bananee
They have fresh papaya salad made to order and cooked sticky rice for the lazy days!
The grocery area is small amd tight.
No fresh meat but an abundance of asian produce.
Żul “Dirty” Jake
Place to find many items Asian dishes require. And real rice, like 20lb REAL. Friendly staff, great place. A real gem.
Mark P. Behar
Great place to find a huge assortment of fresh, frozen, and canned/bottled/dry packed items from SE Asia.
Fue Moua
I come here everytime I visit. It reminded me of my good old days when I was still living in Milwaukee
Rettig
Just went here today around 3:30 or 4 Pm. Good amount of Thai, Lao, Vietnamese, etc. Food ingredients and items. Staff was friendly. Would recommend to anyone!
Gao Ger Yang
Small. Mom n pop shop on the corner of busy street. Had some varieties to offer. Just parked on the street.
Dark HunterKiller (DarkHunterKiller01)
Very small place, but decently stocked for local area community. Laos, Hmong, Vietnamese, and Thai based ingredients store.
Selina Maeder (Selinalynn)
Neighborhood is a little sketchy. The best place to get cases of ramen that i can't get outside of the city. Also, the fresh produce selection is nice.
Bob Wooten
Clean, well stocked store.
Huge selection spread out over three buildings.
Lovely fresh produce not found anywhere else.
Serving and cookware suitable for home or restaurant.
Anthony Henderson
Best place for cheap produce, specialty produce, specialty sauces and noodles and great customer service. If you're in need of any special Asian food item, I bet they have it
Shiv Iyer
You get some great tropical products here. The produce you find here is not available elsewhere especially Asian produce. The staff is very friendly and keen to help.
SS. SS.
Great Store but I notice they keep raising there Prices to the point where I had look for another favorite Asian market SMH !! for some of the same products that you can find at other Asian markets !! Shop around unless this place is your last option !!
