Reviews of City Market/Onion River Co-op
Matt B
An organic market built in the lens of Whole Foods, yet 100x better. The selection of local produce is amazing, as is the beer, and the prices. The staffers are very friendly as well.
yaffa hartman
Super clean and good variety of products. Small hot food bar. Super friendly and helpful staff. What I really appreciated was their mini food variety. Mini cheese blocks, mini jams, ability to take as many or as few olives etc. I wish they had a place like this near me.
Jennifer Cepeda
Cheers five stars for fantastic food and timely checkout . I mean even in a rush hour pinch the frustration of waiting in line isn't added by waiting for the only open checkout . No self checkout frustration which slows people down as well, and personally I can't stand when I have to check myself out. The reason I'm giving five stars for this establishment is of utmost respect for our community, great customer service, in fact I give props that they have public restrooms in this time of severe and a radical drug issues. let's face it, any other establishment in town wouldn't even let a five year old use the toilet and this is something that (I as a single mom) find a necessity .
Joe Pekol
Great selection of grocery items and deli ious hot, cold, and prepared foods.
Jason Breault
City market has very diverse staffing and they are all wonderful people. I enjoy meeting so many people that enjoy life without prejudice and I will always Love city market for that. You'll always see co op stickers on my bike and my car and truck.

Pretty nice place, clean, great cheese and good kombucha, I like going here with my service dog, she loves all the new smells.
Theres a lot of good food here, I always go here for my cream top milk^^
The atmosphere is nice, but at least a little crowded all the time, so not good for those who have social anxiety or adhd, unless you wanna go early in the morning or right before it closes.
The bathrooms often are kept up well, but not as good as they could be, but apart from that and the clutter, its a very nice place to go for groceries.
Tatiana Santa Lucia
Love this market but the parking is awful! Local organic food and the hot bar is my favorite option for lunch. I work nearby so this place is amazing.
Matt Mullaney
ALWAYS great options and friendly staff. Great place to grab a quick cold lunch if you're in a pinch too.
Kimi R.
Neat grocery store that reminds me a lot of Whole Foods. Fresh produce, decent prices. Friendly staff. Small dining area adjacent to the store where you can sit for a quick bite or a sip of coffee.
Arielle
Well-stocked grocery store with all kinds of items from organic and conventional produce, spices, cheeses, meats, flours, cereals, chocolate, and so on and so on.
Very socially conscious store with incredibly helpful employees.
Lucia
Great coop!! Pretty similar to other coops I've been to, but this one has a very good coffee and desserts section
Lynda Marie Pibus
City Market has been the grocery store I've shopped at for years. They're a Coop, and you can choose to become a member if you want. My membership has been fully paid off for years now. As a member, you get to vote for the annual board members and you get to attend the annual meeting. They're always lots of fun. I love that I'm supporting a local business, and I really like that they sell as many locally produced products as they can. Even in the winter, you still can purchase lots of locally grown produce. Their produce is always fresh, and they have a good variety on in general in the supermarket.

This is one of my favorite places ever. Fun, funky staff, outstanding selection. It ain't cheap, but I find that the quality is usually very high. I tend to avoid the hot bar; I don't think it's a great value. The sandwiches, however, are fantastic. And the cozy eating area is one of my favorite wintertime people watching spots.
Hiroikku Neko (Hironya)
Farm fresh and local food at the heart of Burlington Vermont, but there is always a hefty price to pay. Sometimes they may not have what you’re looking for, but that’s okay. All the food is organic and local, which in return makes it delicious yet expensive. I highly advice against going here if you’re also a college student. Gas prices may be high currently, but it’s still cheaper than what you can get at, say, Hanfords down the street. Though, if you’re looking for healthy, local, and organic food, look no further!
Patricia Kelly
My go-to in Burlington
for their excellent Vermont products and amazing local beer and cider. It's a co-op.
Rheanna McKnight
Pre-made sandwiches are alright, awesome selection of literally EVERYTHING... but the fact that the deli has been closed for months is extremely frustrating. There are certain types (not brands) of meats in there that you literally cannot get anywhere else. I’d rather be able to make multiple sandwiches for $10, than have to buy ONE for that price. If the sandwich counter is closed due to staffing and covid, there’s plenty of people stocking shelves, plenty of registers open, and there is 4-5 people manning the deli, then WHY isn’t it open? Even if it was just for 4 hours a day? Doesn’t make much sense to me. People barely buy the pre-cut deli meats as it is because they’re multiple days old.
Elizabeth Moriglioni
Hands down the best grocery store and grocery store community in the area. Awesome to-go food and awesome hot bar and salad bar with the best tofu! Friendly and Positive atmosphere. Well worth every penny! City market employees are the best employees you would want to interact with at any grocery store. They all have common sense and are great workers! I've never had a smidge of negative energy from either City Market Location in Burlington in the 14 years I have been a member and regular shopper. I am so grateful to have City Market in my community! Also City Market Donates so much money and food to the Food Shelf and they have the Cots Xmas Tree Sale every year! Great people doing great things! 👍🏻
John B Bily
A market like we'd like to have more. Fresh local and organic products got the top shelves everywhere. Behind groceries, you'll find hot coffee, sandwiches....A well done and manage shop.
Christophe Depiere
Nice supermarket right downtown. Many choices and also great place to get some food and eat it in the place dedicated! I'll come back for sure!
Henry Hernandez
There is no experience like it! Those who come will agree. Great food, outstanding service, really responsible store looking out for the planet and for those shoppers who have special needs, like those who are neurodivergent (the soft lighting is so soothing). They are always willing to give me the tare weight of my own containers for the bulk items or the hot bar. The sandwiches are still great even though they are no longer made to order. The produce is always fresh and I LOVE supporting local farms. Don't forget to pick up some fresh baked bread from several local bakeries! Great place to buy things to feed your body and nourish your soul!
Melinda Bachand
Awesome little store with nice, wholesome lunch options. Salad bar could use more variety, but otherwise, no complaints.
The staff is always friendly and helpful, they have a great selection of local cheese and the health & wellness sections is almost as well stocked as the Vitamine Shoppe.
Sometimes (and I find this is true for most co-ops) other shoppers aren't aware of their own space. I don't recommend going if you're in a hurry.
Wally Mick
My wife and I went there today and she put a very small tomatoe in the cart and I saw that the price said $6.99 each. We put it back and bought a different variety reasonably priced at $2.99 a pound. Be careful because some things are very expensive. I like some of their stuff, but shop carefully and ask for the senior discount. Nice store but we mostly shop outside of downtown Burlington.
Shirley Li
Whole wheat roll, cheddar trimmings, incredible local raspberries. What a great lunch. Lovely place to wander and gawk at yummy foods. Captures the Vermontian ethos well.
Ian Downie
Great spot with tons of food and good produce for very reasonable prices. Also have a great beer selection and their a la carte food seems like it's pretty good. You always see people you like here too which is awesome. Huge shoutout to City Market they rule.
Sylvan Franklin
Been going here for many years. There’s a new location now that’s brighter and more open (south end), but the atmosphere is this one is still pretty good. They have a good bulk section for snacks.
Tyler Nolan
A great place for local and organic products! This is a Co-Op but has everything you'd need for a healthy meal! Full Salad bar, soups, bagels, sandwich bar, fruits & veggies, fresh seafood, and souch more. Conveniently located in Downtown Burlington it's location is ideal as the only grocery style store in the area.
Michele Bennett
So many options I wish I had more time to shop. Prices are very comparable to other stores. I liked how many options they had for you to get in bulk. I will definitely go back when I visit my son. Staff was wonderfully friendly.
Jenna Makarewicz
Our go-to, essential grocery store. We love the variety of local produce year-round. CM has lots of different delicious brands of packaged foods as well. You won't be disappointed. Something for everyone!
Elizabeth Matthews
Got my candy and baklava I had been craving for weeks. Kinda over cooked but still yummy
John Scott
Great shopping experience. Not a soul-less Walmart nightmare experience. Great local and national products. Not cheap but worth it. We joined because it's only $15 annually and we love supporting a locally, community owned grocery store.
Mg 0
Something about this truly natural, earth-friendly supermarket makes me want to buy everything in here. Loved that it has local produce—I bought and consumed an entire pint of Vermont blueberries from here recently.
Joan Conlon
Wonderful selection of cheeses.Polite staff.clean organized.

The atmosphere is pleasant. The workers are always willing to help. The checkout lines are extremely long which adds to wait time in a small space. The sushi tastes perfect everytime. There is a large variety to choose from. The sushi is always fresh too. The pastries are delicious.
Ci Ci
Love this healthy grocery store, the best part is they tell you where the item is from and what the farm name is . Free WiFi
Sanja Mustafic
Good costumer service, good food and very friendly place❤️❤️

Food quality - 5 stars
Pre-made food - 5 stars
Prices - a little high - 3 stars
Lines - way too long - 2 stars. I know they like to pay real people living wages but if they can't get enough employees they should get some self checkout lanes. I've twice walked out of there instead of waiting. And I've waited 15 minutes sometimes.
Hours - not open late enough - 2 stars. As the only grocery store downtown serving people who may not have cars, cutting back the hours so it closes at 9:00 p.m. instead of 10:00 p.m. is ridiculous. If this is a staffing decision then install self checkout lanes so you can have enough staff to do other things.
Charles Collins
A great grocery with tons of local goods. It can be more expensive than other grocery stores if you usually buy conventional and boxed goods. I find it easy to navigate and efficient to shop. Some things that set it apart: bulk foods and items and like pasta, granola, spices, tofu, seitan, dried grains and beans, flours, sugar, nut butters, teas, and even oil, syrup, soap and detergents, and more. Lots of organic options, decent world food section, a great call-ahead sandwich department and great hot and cold food bar with many interesting options including vegan and vegetarian. They often have the other things you're looking for when you expect to find them, sleds and shovels and trees in the winter, grilling stuff in the summer. Nice plants and flowers, nice selection of health and body products as well if you're looking for more natural and [whatever]-free options. Small parking lot, but it's very convenient if you live or work in town.
Charles Le Grand
From its beginnings In the 1970s, the Onion River co-op has grown from a group addressing the lack of grocery stores in the area to a not-for-profit place finely tuned to the needs and preferences of the community.
It specializes in quality, freshness, and variety to match the city's diversity.
You can join the co-op for a small fee, and get discounts on purchases. Members get a rebate at the end of the year based on the co-op's earnings and the amount the member spent there for the year. Members also get discounts for participating in volunteer work, such as working with Local Motion to support the Bike Ferry.
It is a great place for people watching, and you can rest assured of the quality of your purchases.
Hoan Trần
Could’ve saved you a lot of money. They offer a wide variety of fresh local foods and products.
Adam Petit
This is an awesome store. I'm visiting from NH and I haven't seen anything quite as crunchy as this store down there. It's a little on the pricier side but still neat.
megan ramona
Yes, I love this store. They have a great selection and accommodating staff. With that said I had to knock a star off for the lack of freshness in some of their very overpriced items. Produce for example is hit or miss. I've bought multiple avocados or mangos at a time, waited for them to ripen, only to see they were all rotten inside. Yet other times these items are perfect. I also think they leave their fresh bread out for sale way longer than they should. I once nearly chipped a tooth on a rock hard baguette I attempted to eat the same day I got it. Another time I bought a flat bread with sundried tomatoes on it that was full of tiny bugs. A third time I bought a half loaf of fresh local bread that should have been a couple days of sandwiches for my family, but instead it was all molded on the second day. All these incidents took place within the past few weeks, and I've multiple other similar experiences. I'm on a budget so to realize the main brunt of what would have been a meal for my family is not actually useable can be pretty inconvenient. I also don't usually have time to walk back to the store to ask for a replacement.
Also, the downtown store has a very chaotic line-up system, especially with new social distancing guidelines. I've had people cut in front of me, accuse me of cutting, or get mad that they didn't know the 'system' and weren't even standing in line at all. They really need to make ONE line that feeds into different registers to avoid these stressful types of situations.
Kyōshin Liu
So many vegan products! They have a bakery section that even sells local vagan baked goods, such as awesome cookies and cupcakes from Sweet Alchemy. Their deli section also has many vegan dishes clearly labeled. It makes a great affordable take-out meal.
Linda
Good healthy options in all departments. Very good store made foods. I balance this store with a traditional supermarket for certain items. Prices are higher here than the traditional supermarket for same items. I definitely couldn't live without City Market, though.
Connor
Hands down the best food co-op I've ever been to. Seriously, I cannot say enough great things about this place. Huge selection of organic and natural products. Delicious food in the build-your-own salad bar and the sandwich line (the latter of which can be a bit busy during the lunch rush). The food they make is delicious. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff are all super friendly, the store is clean, and it's easy to navigate and find products
Woonkuo Soon
Always a pleasure to come here to eat from fantastic salad bar.
Derrick Miles
Constantly felt if all eyes on me. With the 200%,mark up on all products you would think the employees would have managed an etiquette class at the least. Check out lines are exactly what they are long and slow. On a positive note the food selection is absolutely phenomenal. Great deals on some items not so good on others. I had a craving for my own hand carved Rueben Sammie went to every delilicastion around could not find any decent Corn Beef as luck would have it City Markup had only the best in stock. That one Sammie cost me more than I could ever imagine even if Sir Rueben had carved it himself. The price of the corn beef was $ 16.50 per pound and the worst part was the amount of grizzle that came with each pound. Guard your wallet, don't get sudden cravings and you might come out better than going in. I have mixed feelings about City Market and its usually the price. Good luck & Good Shopping...

The default Grocery store and market of Burlington and the UVM campus. As alright as it gets. Good selection of products, decent customer service; however be prepared to pay for the added convenience and for the added cost of healthy or prepared food... For inexpensive bulk & ingredients go to the larger grocery stores or local ethnic markets. Relatively good for small items or the odd purchase
Andrea Tremols
This is when I go to grocery stores in Burlington. I prefer the South End ones at the downtown because it's less crowded and they have different options that I enjoyed more. It is quite pricey but the quality is very good.
North Wagner
Great selection of items made in store.
Andrew Swift
The local fresh food Co-op! There are other health food focused stores in the area, but City Market is the downtown favorite (with a second location coming in 2017). Be prepared, the aisles are smallish. The fresh veggies and beer sections are exceptional. Also, great bakery items from all the local bakers. There is a deli section, fresh coffee and pastries and everything else you might need during a weekly grocery trip. In front, a generous table area, closed off from customer traffic. Also, outdoor seating in Summer (but limited). Prices are average, but getting a membership is worth it. Expect crowds during normal daytime breaks (lunch, after work). Excellent, friendly staff. Highly recommended!
Alex Dombi
Offers a wide variety of local product for a good chunk of change. Definitely not a one-stop-shop in terms of grocery needs but rather where to go to find a defining flavor of a dish, bulk products in zero waste packaging, hot and ready cafe quality foods, or a daily coffee/tea/broth run. Kind staff but a damn slow checkout line, so budget that in.
Jason Fritz
Great local grocer, with plenty of prepared foods for a quick breakfast or lunch stop.
didier merci
Fast check out! The cashiers won't let you stay on the line, I wish I could stay inside getting the fresh scent but I gotta go. There are helpful and caring cashier, they take 100% of their paycheck and put 100% of their effort.
Jennifer Atlas
I fell in love with this store while visiting Burlington. Everything was organized and inviting. They offer great local products and more healthy/environmentally friendly products and prices very reasonable. We walked here to shop 3 times during our 4 day trip from PA and I enjoyed looking around each time!
Jordan Buntain
Great grocery store and recommend it to anyone although the street that it sits beside is a disaster. My compact SUV literally bottomed out briefly driving around the potholes. Kinda ridiculous. Not sure how this kind of neglect is possible by the city, or the grocery store.
Hillary Leicher
A labyrinth of Top Quality produce, a wide variety of prepared "to go" side dishes and meals, and a fantastic blend of delicious Co-OP style foods/and bulk items with popular favorites from your general grocery stores. A beautiful display of local cards and gifts.
Jean Chris
Good local store. Both City Markets in Burlington have excellent selections of local produce and other food stuffs. The layout is... interesting. Prices are pretty high for non members, but you will find a ton of organic options.
Aisha Ahmed
This is oddly enough, one of my favorite places to grab lunch out in Burlington. I love the prepared hot food from the deli. They always have a large variety as well as a great salad bar. Healthy food with vegan and vegetarian options. Highly recommend!
Grant Pike
Love this place. I always stop in I'm coming through town visiting my brother. The cold and hot bar are always full of tasty treats, the wine and beer selection are plentiful. The checkout stuff however does not seem very professional. Over the many years that I have come in I have never been met with professional courtesy from the checkout Clerks, only from the staff who is not the first and last faces you will see coming into the market. City Market needs to hire better checkout Clerks
Joan H
Love the coop but was surprised by all the processed food and conventional produce. Other than that they have a great selection of healthy foods at a good price. Nice ambiance and friendly staff. We go there every time we are in Burlington.
Nick Tsichlis
City market is an awesome place and I love it. You can bring jars and get a variety of bulk items. It has a great selection of foods from local farms and if you do a little volunteer work a month you can get up to 12% off your groceries. It’s a bit pricey but worth it for some items.
Kelsey Brandin
It's great because of the convenient location and stock of city market's "greatest hits", but given its larger size and new construction, you'd imagine their inventory outshines the downtown store - it doesn't. Despite being closer to this location, i still drive into town for the better selection on both prepared food and groceries.
Good in a pinch or for simple stuff, but hopefully in the future they utilize the additional space appropriately and expand their inventory to match the smaller downtown location.
Elizabeth Woodhull
i like the co op, but i got a spicy chicken sandwich from the grab and go sandwich section and it wasn’t spicy at all. like not even a little kick. i know this is vermont but like come on. other than that great place but please make your chicken sandwiches spicier
Peter
So I'm not a vegan, or a crunchy hipster. This is a fantastic market, you should probably bring your own bag(I popped in on vacation maybe Portland has a plastic bag ban?)
Bulk stuff, fresh actually human cut non vacuum pack meat, ugly health produce.
We were also able to pick up some pepperoni, name brand crackers and a fantastic selection of cheese. stop in for a quick one or do a fancy meal planning.
Frank Guyer-Geier
Love to meet friends for lunch there.
Amy Sessock
Excellent customer service!
I recently purchased a gluten free brownie mix and for whatever reason the directs provided did not life up to the delicious brownie experience I was hoping for. I inquired with customer service about my experience, since it was an expensive purchase (as gluten free products tend to be), without skipping a beat I was offered a refund. Feeling grateful for being a member of an establishment where loyalty, sympathy and customer service come first!
L. A. Tisoncik
A great place to shop... Interesting foods, great bakery, great deli, and a bulk section I could spend too much time exploring. The store is accessible but, as usual, some products are placed too high for wheelchair access (bulk, in particular, has a high counter in the spices and tea area for no good reason in my opinion) but both staff and customers are friendly and helpful with that impossibly high product location.
Mario Carmona
Good selection of organic foods. Hotbar is good most of the time. They have a nice made to order section for breakfast and lunch. Staff can be a bit crabby at times. There’s a reason why there called City Markup, Get a loan or try hitting Trader Joe's for more reasonable prices
Patty Crichton
This is the best co-op in the country, and I've been to many. Great selection of local foods as well as national things. Great diverse staff as well. Oh, I love that they have an area to tie up dogs while shopping; we go almost everyday!
Kara M.
I liked this store a lot, it was like a less expensive and non-corporate version of Whole Foods.
This is a cute little market right near Church Street in Burlington, VT, it will only take a couple of minutes to walk over here.
We stopped in to get some hard ciders by a brand that we had sampled cider at earlier in the day at a local brewery. They had a nice craft beer selection too.
They feature a lot of organic products and the produce looked nice.
I always enjoy a quick browse through this store while I'm in BTV. I'd suggest coming here if you are staying nearby and looking for some snack items.
I'd describe this spot as a little on the granola side and very Vermont.
Jamie Graham
There are two main things that have me shop here instead of the less expensive supermarkets in the area: consistently excellent produce section, and how they treat their employees and sellers. I really like that that they're unionized, and that they work so much with local farmers and food makers.
In addition to an excellent produce section, they also shine in ready-made food and bulk section.
The only downside is the small parking lot and rush hour shopping. Looking forward to the opening of their larger location in the South End.
mikaela irene
Excellent produce, lots of local products, but non-produce stuff are more expensive than at the bigger chain supermarkets.
Dawn Izzi
Amazing pre-made amd fresh food!
Kelley Phifer
Everyone did a fantastic job in making our grocery delivery / curbside pick-up possible! The correct items were picked out & delivered efficiently & with care. Everyone I spoke with was friendly & helpful. Thank you to Steven & the rest of the team! We really appreciate y'all & all of your hard work!
Elliot Schneider
Great variety of groceries with reasonable prices. Parking can be a bit tricky, as well as pulling out onto S Winooski. If you leave via South Union, it can be difficult to see the incoming traffic with the cars parked on the road.
Kristin Mestyan
I Love it there! I feel like I can be in my own little world, or engage with any of the super helpful City workers or shoppers! And who is that wine guy?? :-) What a riot! I haven't seen him the last few times I was there, so disappointed, but incredible knowledge base and if he doesn't know, he'll find out for you! Lots of fun. Needless to say I left with lots of interesting wines that night... (well, maybe a few nights. ;)
City Market ~ Ethnically balanced, and I mean that in the most wonderful way. <3
A great feel there. Prices reasonable while supporting local farms, artists and businesses! Nice variety, vegetarian /vegan, & gluten-free friendly! Produce beautiful, every corner turns up something so interesting and healthy. They have the most amazing coffee there, so go grab a cup a little larger than usual, and take your time to check it all out... you won't be disappointed! And to the sweetest little cashier who rang me out the other night about 10 minutes before closing, 😨,. you are a rock star! I wish I could remember your name for props!. I was covered Head To Toe with paint, taking a break & shopping for Tomgirls. (local juice bar). How wonderful were you? So happy to be there :-). When the order for extra eggs came in as I was just about to cash out, you were completely good with me running back to grab more.
I've managed stores long enough to know that job before self, and excellent customer service, is a Rarity,. So Hats off to you young lady!! And thank you to the whole City Market Team for all of your hard work !!! :-)
The Gem of Burlington ~ <3

Despite it being at heart a "health food store", it has a little of everything. The incredibly crowded parking lot and aisles are no mistake; it's super popular. Great beer selection and great deli sandwiches and hot entrees. Superior selection of produce.
Richard K
Many quality high-end products, ethnic food, great produce, excellent deli, cheese selection, super sandwiches. Some items a bit pricey, but if you look for them you can some some good deals. Downtown store makes me claustrophobic, narrow isles, small store, always crowded. Prefer the new one on Flynn Ave. Worth joining the co-op if you shop there much for 10 % discount and yearly dividend.
G Aquino
It looks and feels like Whole Foods. Great selection of healthful and ethically sourced products, with prices that are a bit more reasonable than WF. Customer service was great. The only issue was the narrow aisles. Overall though, this place is pretty solid.
Renae Alexandria
City Market makes my life a better existence. Being a member is well worth it! We love the breakfast sandwiches they have available at the hot bar til 11am, and the free coffee after every 10 purchased is a nice perk :)
Bluekimchi Andrea
I wish their space was laid out a little differently., as it gets crowded and aisles easily blocked. Prices are reasonable for organic, locally grown food. Some prices for things are a little high, yet no different than other natural foods stores in the area. Parking at peak times is crazy and they often have parking attendants to help out. I like their new space on Flynn Avenue very much
Sara C
Very nice organic grocery store. Lots of options, especially produce which looked so fresh & abundant. A little bakery & deli. Many healthy, vegan options, bulk spices, dried fruit, nuts, coffee, etc. It was expensive, but most of the health food type stores are.
Kylie h
Love love love city market. Prices are what you would expect from a co-op. Many options. They make the best sandwiches ever. Everyone is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great selection of many foods but to me my favorite is there selection of kombucha.
Matt Beckert
Great downtown option for groceries. Parking lot always requires a little extra patience, but super easy/convenient bike access and parking.
Ashley Strobridge
Super friendly staff. A mix of high end, organic food, and thrifty every day items. Great selection of each.
D.P Call
The city market is very nice friendly professional people, especially Thomas and Brian wonderful kind people. Thank you for your service and being there sincerely David call
Tara Dower
prepared food is so fresh and good!
john wilcox
Great little grocery catering to whole and organic foods. My only real complaint is prices which are far too high on most of the organics. All considered though it's an inviting atmosphere with exceptional customer service.
stephanie busch
While this place is a little expensive, it has a great salad, and hot bars that are great for lunch. Their bulk section is amazing! Their cheese selection is also great.
Jill E. Norman
I love City Market, because it's the only place that I can find Liberty's Yogurt. It's the best yogurt on earth ! They also make an awesome curry chicken in a small or large container ! YUM 😋 ! …

Great food, great selection, especially if you want organic and healthy. There is a decent beer selection too, the sandwich shop is good, and the hot food buffet is amazing. Parking lot can be a bit treacherous during busy hours, you might have to fight for a space
Oliver Ames
Fresh and local, this is the place to go for organic produce. They also have a great buffet which is popular amongst the college crowd. I've had a few terrible experiences trying to get Apple Pay to work on their Apple Pay registers (not checkout's fault but management). This place is worth it for the food. They're very helpful and accommodating with special orders too which is a major win in my book.
Jim Woodard
I will start by saying their produce and meats are consistently fresh and high quality and I admit I enjoy shopping there. The problem we had is with their system of special orders. We ordered one item from both produce and meats for a special diner and only the meat arrived. Since no one took our phone or email address they were not able to contact us. This happened with an order we place three days in advance. Please update your systems to include a mode of communication to the customer.
JOHN ANDREW CIPRIANO
Other than being bit pricing City Market is one of my favorite spots in downtown Burlington he shot in smm2 speed in Hangout I really feel like I'm part of the community when I got there or when I just sent you this or if there's ever any questions or problems I have people are eager and able to respond quickly and accurately it makes me feel much more then do any of the big box grocery stores in town it may offer a larger selection with a bit lower prices but wake me up soul
Mike Singleton
Such a cool place! I wish the sandwich counter would reopen. Great selection of healthy foods.
Candace Rutherford
This place is amazing! You can find all kinds of natural foods and fresh fruits. Hot and cold foods and groceries.
MIchelle McNamara
Really great deli with lots of vegan options. I had the vegi burger blue plate special for $8.99. Produce is over priced and the discount bin is sad. Pretty cool co-op though. Shop here when I don't want to support the big man grocery store.
Jackson Wajer
City Market is in my opinion the best place to get groceries in Burlington. It's convenient location off of Church St is great for college students looking for something quick. They have ample parking for both cars and bikes. The store is incredibly well organized and has an impecable collection of Organic, Fair Trade, non-GMO, and local products. The staff is friendly and it is easy to find anything you need. Although it is on the price side, good and healthy food is worth it.
Tatiana Gladkikh
A bit pricey. Great variety of local, organic, vegan and vegetarian food. For those who live in Burlington area, I def recommend becoming the co-op member; members get a 12% discount on their purchase if they volunteer at selected organizations for 4 hours a month.
Leeleesqueezy
Nice selection of fresh food & spices. Wish they had more frozen veggies in stock & better prices
Josh Niebling
Probably the best market you will ever go to. Great selection of fresh produce and meats, awesome food bar and prepared foods section, and great beverage and cheese selections. Tons of local products too. If you're in the Burlington area, check it out.
John Jastatt
Great all purpose market. Tons of local and regional offerings.
Andrew Chase
If you are staying in the area for a short period of time, this place is perfect. It's very clean and ready to find what you need. Honestly, the food is better and faster than other local places if you just want to grab a breakfast sandwich and go!
Cam White
Wonderful selection with a breadth of prices. Fantastic sandwich bar. Usually pretty busy and the isles are small, so it can feel rushed/cramped at times. Become a member and get a percentage of your spending back every year!
Joshua Neilson
Great selection of organic produce and meats, as well as conventional products. Free filtered water for members, among other benefits. Deli, food bar, beer and wine. Seating for eating. Bulk herbs, grains, pastas... Parking can be nightmarish. Aisles are a little tight. Stilm my favorite place to shop for groceries in Burlington.
Deborah Blair
Love this co-op! It is huge -it offers both regular grocery store items and a huge variety of locally produced products and health food products. There is a parking lot - which in the center of Burlington is a real plus! Although I now live across the state - we always have a list going for what we need from City Market. They have a huge variety of organic and non organic vegetables and fruits - their large hot and cold bars are great for getting a lunch, snack or taking home food to add to ones home cooked meals. I always find the staff to be friendly and helpful - - and the help desk has hand outs to help find the Gluten Free and other specialty health diet needs for those needing them for medical and personal choice needs. They have a great variety of beers, wines, bulk food nuts, flours, etc - - Kombuchas AND they have Vermont Kombucha in many flavors that you can buy or bring your own containers to fill up - they also have grass fed Vermont meats, sea food - - really anything that you could want!
Alyssa Bucci
Oh, City Market. Probably the thing I miss most about not currently living in Burlington, Vermont. The selection of everything is impressive given the size of the store, and I'm shocked when, maybe 1 out of the 50 times I'm looking for a very obscure item, they don't stock it. They do an amazing job of keeping up with the evolving food trends, and as someone who reads extensively about natural health and wellness, I SO appreciated that as I learned about new things I wanted to try, City Market very often carried them. The sandwich bar is amazing-- best sandwiches in town for an unbeatable price (and un-matched customizing options). They also make an incredible amount of food products in house-- baked goods, prepped lunch options, hot breakfast, cold brew... I cannot say enough amazing things about this incredible resource in Burlington's community. They support their local community in a bunch of ways, including non-profits who can be on the receiving end of customers who decide to round-up their purchase totals, local businesses that need help getting started and by offering volunteer options for their members to earn discounts on their grocery bills. I miss City Market EVERY TIME I need to shop at a different grocery store.
Valérie Corno
Great organically oriented market. Lots of delicious grab'n'go meals. Nice veggies/fruits selection. Always find what I need when I go there.
Brennan Martin
Handy place for groceries downtown. Decent selection given small footprint. Parking lot can be challenging. Hot bar is a surprisingly good place to grab lunch.
Nicholas Glass
The bulk foods are amazing! beer and wine section is as good as you can get without going to a store for it in Vermont (which in Vermont means you have one of the best beer grocery store selections in the country; Vermont knows beer). Amazing vibe. Your getting higher quality then the chains around here and you taste the quality, and at the risk of sounding "new age", you can feel the quality when you eat it.
Maddie Conway O'Reilly
Great store with lots of local products and just about everything you'd be looking for. We found a local butter someone recommended to us (we're from out of town) and there were so many other delicious things. The store was clean and well organized/stocked.
Eric Lazarus
City Market has become a great Burlington institution. So popular, in fact, they are now opening a second store in Burlington's South End, as well as other offshoots in the works.
City Market started as a food co-op, and while now a public market, is still organized as a co-op, to which many of its customers belong.
In addition to regular groceries and supplies, the market has an extensive conventional and organic bulk food section, and an excellent conventional and organic produce department.
One of the markets most important principles is to provide local produce and other items, whenever possible.
Francois de Melogue
I have always loved this grocery store. Great selection of everything. Great seafood counter, meats, cheeses, produce, wines, beers. Nice friendly people.
Gavin Hieronymus
Out of every grocery stores around the country and the world that I have gone to, this is the best one yet. The Onion River Co-op offers huge amounts of fresh, organic, and local produce, dairies, meats, spices, grains, and almost everything else that you can think of. What they do not have from local farms, they make sure to buy the best goods they possibly can; just talking about it gives me that rare rush only a great grocery store can.
If you have the time and money for a good time and good meal, I beg that you go to the City Market in Burlington Vermont.
Kent Borg
I don't know of a better place to buy organic produce. Okay, various farmers' markets are better, at least on the day they are in operation. City Market, on the other hand, has regular and generous hours: go there, buy good produce.
From Montreal to Boston to Minneapolis to LA (cities I know best), I don't know anything as good. Something else might be as good, but take this as an endorsement, City Market is very impressive. I live a couple hundred miles from Burlington, but I am a member of the co-op.
Patricia P
They have parsnips and turnips. Almost anything you want.
Mikhael Cohen
Best co-op, period. Best local foods store. Highest grossing single-location co-op in the nation. When I moved back from a year in Hawaii, this is one of the things I looked forward to most. I've lived in a few places, and no other store compares.
Gluten-free? Vegan? Conventional diet? They have everything.
What's good:
Produce. Local and distant, organic and conventional. Pricing is fair.
I don't wish to promote meat or animal products, but they have the best local selection of this stuff, if you're going to buy, don't buy from the conglomerates.
BULK. Bulk everything, in exactly the amount you need. Teas, coffee, pasta, soup, baking needs, grains, nuts, snacks, candy, dried fruit, peanut butter, Dr. Bronner's, dish soap, laundry detergent, olive oil, maple syrup, the list goes on. Bring your own container or use theirs. Tare your own bottle on the scale right nearby.
Hot bar. Cheapest in town, always good food. Selection doesn't change as frequently as I'd like, but it's always good. It does bother me quite a bit when I see staff grab the spoon that landed in the chicken and put it back in a vegan dish, but at least they offer a good vegan selection.
Great bread from most local bakeries. Cookies, chocolate, beer and wine selections are all grand.
Deli is great. Grab a bagel in the morning, they'll prepare it however, they have everything for it. Grab a coffee. Sit and use the Wi-Fi in the eating area. It's somehow magically distant enough from the commotion to be semi-peaceful.
Oh, there is that. Remember how this is the highest grossing single location co-op in the nation? It's busy. All the time. Have patience for your neighbors, we're all in this together. And hey, they're expanding to Pine St soon!
To add to this point, the parking lot can be hell during commuting times. I'm surprised more people/cars aren't hurt here. It's too small, and people are too hurried.
The staff are all great, I feel like I'm in there so much they're always part of my life. Extremely helpful if help is ever needed. It's well-managed, and they take great care of their staff. They're involved in about 17 community volunteering efforts and ever-expanding, with very significant discounts to members who volunteer in their community.
Open til' 11 EVERY night, after my day is beyond over I can still go in and grab some food.
Great place, can't recommend highly enough. Could be my most favorite business in town. In fact it is.
Ethan Farmer
City market has an amazing selection of fresh, local produce and products. The staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly and the hot bar/sandwiches are delicious.
Joining the co-op and volunteering gets you a discount as well, and gives you an opportunity to get out in the community.
adolfo alonso
Friendly and helpful staff! This is always my go-to grocery store or if i need some something really specific. Always have a great selection.
Danilo Jose
A grocery store with everything fresh, I really found everything that I was looking, they have a good variety of maple and local cheese
George Mihaly
This COOP does it right! Awesome selection of local produce from farmers just a few miles away. Staff if super friendly/outgoing and eager to chat with you. Being a City Market member also gives you some great discounts with local businesses. This is the place to shop for food stuff in Burlington!
stefan otto
Great selection of local organic fruits, veggies and meat. Good beer selection as well. Fantastic bulk foods section with big selection. Local bread and cheese.
Beware of tight squeeze in parking lot!
Corey Gilmore
Prices are very high and it is constantly filled with yuppies and granola heads. Lots of local offerings. Lots of premade foods and sandwiches which are usually very good. Still, if you like your money and don't want to deal with being judged not showing up on a bicycle, there are better places for shopping.
C RC
Very good variety...close to downtown.
Miriam Phelps
It's a nice store, like any co-op. They have some good choices, and they also have great sales. However, it can be expensive when you aren't buying the sales. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. I have visited this store many times, since I live out of town, and I usually get a lot of help from employees when I get confused, or have a question.
Michael Davis
One of the best places in Burlington to grab anything you need grocery wise. Especially locally sourced goods. The selection of loose spices is incomparable for the area. Also a nice spot if you want to grab a quick bite to eat solo in between running around.
Silvia F
The reverse osmosis water is free for members. There is a tremendous amount of local and organic produce, and products, and enviroment-friendly items. The hot and salad bar is always topped off and tidy. There are several different hot coffees to choose from. The coffee lid dispenser is clever. The sandwich station is popular for great reasons. The cheese selection is delightfully overwhelming. The cashiers are friendly and fast. The bicycle parking is spacious. When the car lot is full there is a parking coordinator that helps the flow to go smoother.
Daniel Fortier
CM/ORC has a manageable selection of good quality foods and general home products including a nice amount of locally sourced items. Relatively diverse customer base. A bit pricey but good deals can be had. They do participate in and support number of community hunger relief/food insecurity programs, as well as provide a number of discount programs, including "member worker" program that gives members discounts for volunteer work both in store, and several community partners. In store kitchen makes a cornucopia of delicious dishes that are sure to satisfy anyone, to conveniently eat there, or to take with.
Right now, they're selling Christmas trees for just $35 and in support of COTS, Committee On Temporary Shelter, who can always use our help, but especially this time of year!
Chris Bergen
This is a great store with options for all dietary preferences, especially for health conscious folks or those with allergies (gluten, dairy, corn, etc). Their hot bar buffet is GREAT. Expect horrendous parking congestion and in-store claustrophobia. This is a tiny store for all the business it does.
Max Auerbach
The south end City Market is way better. This one is too congested and people don’t seem to understand how to follow the social distancing markers on the ground. Parking is also a nightmare and delivery drivers tend to be rude and lawless. A shame.
Althea Greene
City market is a great local co-op. It's in downtown Burlington so it's walkable and it offers a wide variety of local and natural foods and specialty products like vegan ice cream and seitan. The parking lot can be crazy so I recommend walking if possible and the aisles are narrow and tend to be crowded so get a basket rather than a cart.
Rachel Roszmann
I spent more time here than anywhere else during my stay in Burlington. I love this place. Great salad bar, local baked goods, kombucha, candles, local honey....so much good stuff!
Ann Ely
I like this store , especially for organic, humanly raised chicken. Great vegetables, and fruits. My two biggest complaints: parking can be difficult on certain days and different times of the day. Also, the isles in the market are small and shoppers can be rather rude by pushing past others. Also, the fruit/veggie spot is rather congested.
Liza Cannon
Best co-op in the entire country, if not world. Well organized, incredible selection, local produce and goods, reasonably priced for the quality of goods offered, the only place I want to grocery shop.
Mitchell Wulfman
I shopped here almost every day for a year, before I moved. Great products and good customer service. It gets super crowded during shopping hours though, and it's expensive (it's lovingly nicknamed "City Markup"). Also the parking lot is literally a road, so there's often nowhere to park.
Andre C.
Fantastic local produce, great beer selection, convenient eat-in options. The staff are great, too. Only complaint is that the parking lot gets quite chaotic and the store is often crowded, it's difficult to navigate with a stroller.
Pat Lilienthal
Great place to shop. They try to keep the prices low-ish (considering it's not a regular supermarket). Great bulk department. They keep the salad and hot food bar reasonably priced. It feels good to shop at City Market
Michael
An excellent selection of fresh produce, along with a wide variety of items in other departments. A grocery store to be proud of in a smaller city.
Jones Typhoon
Prices are up up but what do you expect it’s city mark-up. Good products but I’m going to stick to online ordering personally can’t deal with all the yuppies and boomers in the store.
Syamprasad K R
The staff are friendly and helpful. I like the excellent variety of nuts offered here. The fruits section and juice options can be improved. Overall a great place to shop!!
Robin Earle
There are a few really good sandwich places in the Burlington area, and oddly enough, the deli counter at City Market is one of them.
I ordered a City Market Club, and then got invited out to dinner in the Old North End with friends, leaving it wrapped up in the car. When the bill came to almost $50, all I could think of was that I could have gotten five City Market Clubs and enjoyed each one twice as much for the same price as that dinner.
Nathanael
They treat you like more than a customer, but a human. The staff will speak with you and not just idle pleasantries. The selection of products are very responsible and high quality, worth the price. It's not the cheapest place to shop, but it is the best.
James Palmer
As one would expect from a coop, there is a great selection of Vermont products, and bulk items. There are "affordable" items in all basic food categories and lots of sale items. I typically eat at least one meal a day from the prepared foods area.
Irene Waldock
They have everything a crunchy granola Vermonter could ever want! (Including a large section of bulk granola) With kombucha on tap and organic produce coming out the wazoo, it's the ideal grocery store if you can afford it.
Diego Rendon
Great selection of fresh produce. I really enjoy the local produce that they have and their selection of organic products. This is my favorite grocery store in the Burlington area.
Robert Bell
Why is healthier food so expensive? Nice selection of healthier goods in a busy, crowded store. Hope you have good reflexes...you'll need them to dodge shopping carts in narrow aisles!
Marie Thomas
Awesome hot food bar. Great place to grab a quick meal. Lots of variety of foods. Rally for change program helps so many non profits. Some prices a little high, but all in a good cause.
tjguze
Great to shop for healthy food, not that reg trash
Lucky Th13teen
Can't beat the bulk items quality to price. All our spices go further when we get them from here. Of course a little more expensive on the whole here but hard to fault it when you know where the $ ends up in comparison to any other grocery+ store.
megan duffy
I have celiac disease so I always shop at Co-OP's. City Market is my local co-op. I love the store and the selection but the prices are a little high and the staff leave a LOT to be desired!
Kimberly Cummins
This coop has a little bit of everything for everyone. Great prepared foods department and stocked shelves with both organic, natural and conventional products. Lots of local organic produce and an excellent bulk deparment.
Justin Holden
It has great options and fantastic baked goods, but the lines are unacceptable. Waiting 15+ minutes to cash out in an off peak time is crazy.
Alex
The best store sourcing local foods. Whenever we travel to Vermont, we always stock up here.
Haley Goodman
This place is the best! Kyle from customer service was so helpful and kind and he went above and beyond to help me find what I was looking for! Highly recommend to any who is in Burlington
Joshua O'Floinn
Great place for organic, local, and specialty foods. The physical space is pretty cramped. Often very busy and crowded during late afternoon & throughout evening. Often difficult to find parking. Early & mid mornings are the best time to visit if you want to avoid the crowd.
Danielle Edwards
This is an amazing market with so many products that are plastic-free and earth friendly. I make it a priority to stop in when I can.
Spiros Mavrudis
The store has economical produce. The cheap coffee sustained me during the winter mornings. The wraps are overpriced and not that particulary good. I knocked over a case of pricey wine when somebody tripped me as i was walking out of the aisle... the manager understood my plight and didnt charge me
Excuse unedited grammar
Donna Neftin
Great place for local organic produce and just about every health food. Great prepared food to eat there or take out. Organic wine and beer selection too.
Hannah M.
Very fun cheese selection!!! Deli staff very friendly and helpful. We stock up there when we visit Burlington!
Jeffrey Lu
Great cheese selection (cheapest place I’ve found for small Cabot blocks) and a well-stocked prepared food deli at a reasonable $9/lb. Produce section prices are ridiculous though.
Sean
I love city market besides one thing... the parking!!!! Ahhh I want to tear my hair out every time I visit this place. People driving seem to be more inconsiderate then anywhere else besides Costco lol. Other than that great products and an awesome variety of unique and quality items.
Cameron Farah
Quaint, small and just what I would want from a Burlington grocery store. Focused on organic and healthy foods. When I travel to Burlington, I always visit City Market for at least a few meals and snacks. Love this place!
Suzanne Huff
Wow. Loved all the natural and organic selections. Fantastic prices. Bulk items are 10% off every Thursday. Small market with a huge selection. It is like a Whole Foods market.
Sam Urbôn
The hot bar is great and reasonable, service is good, but it's crowded. Produce /meat/fish prices are DOUBLE, sometimes triple of what other stores charge. Extremely expensive except for dry goods and hot bar.
Clifford Gordon
Great selection of locally sourced products and organic foods. Very busy place and would benefit from wider isles and more floor space. Love the meads they stock here. Can't find them anywhere else.
Jesse Fraser
Great store, and a great variety of products for a little store. Also, with good pay and benefits to the employees it is a huge boost to the local economy. Love the deli sandwiches.
Gerry Loney
One of the best natural foods co-ops I've seen. Large selection, focus on local farms, and great selection from a deli and hot and cold prepared food to go or be eaten in their cafe area.
Jeffrey R
Check out the soups they change daily and are priced accordingly. Great place to find healthy foods. The eating area is small and ALWAYS full, Just a suggestion . . . maybe reduce the parking lot size and make the eating area larger. < just an idea . .
Mary Liesenberg
SO OVERPRICED, but some unique items that are worth the trip! Couldn’t do the regular groceries here but occasionally come for treats. If you wanna be healthy at a better price try Healthy Living.
Cathleen Keogh
Love City Market. Great selection, friendly staff.
And amazing food bar.
Liisa Reimann
Well organized, huge variety, decent prices, awesome staff, best hot food bar around, and Miss Wienerz donuts (if you get there early enough). Why go anywhere else?
Tevin Devron Raymond Whittaker
On another level. Its by far the best market in Vermont.
Arturo-Suzanne RuvalcabaRosen
Awesome, great market with a great selection of food, cheese's wines and beers. if I'm ever back in Burlington Vermont I will definitely come here again
Ashley Lafleche
Excellent bulk selection. Friendly staff. Interesting and broad produce selection. Prices are reflective of a monopoly (because it is one). Also very crowded all the time due to the previous point.
Mario Matos
Very good selection of healthy and sustainable products. I love this little store
Tim
Nice selection and great prepared food area. Staff was snotty and rude , maybe because we didn't have that purposeful homeless look or have dreads or a really trendy social justice t shirt on.
Gregory Wilkins
Pricey, but they do have good and healthy options if you're looking for something quick to eat. They also stock a lot of unique beers, mead and ciders in their cooler.
Dianne Bailey
Excellent variety of whole and natural foods. The market is a pleasure to shop. I reccomend shopping during daytime hours. The store does get crowded and a little difficult to navigate late afternoon and early evenings.
Allan Bursaw
You can find any hard to get foods or drinks here without a doubt. It's a great local place and fun to get food at the sandwich shop. I love having a place like this in walking distance!
Josh Pierro
Nice lunch spot and supermarket in downtown. Convenient and tasty!
Jen Schiller
Pick up some bulk maple syrup. It'll be the best decision you've ever made.
Clerks were so friendly and accommodating, it felt more like a specialty store than a grocers!
William Eisner
Dazzling food selection emphasizes the healthy and local. Here wine selection and cuisine intersect with politics and people watching. Makes one thankful for the rarified atmosphere that is VT.
Jasmine
I like the location, and that I can buy local, however I wish there was more variety, including conventional, I also wish there was more space to move around it's always packed. Price is pretty high, but local food costs more everywhere.
Matthew Hall
Great spot for a variety of healthy and unique choices. A bit tight of a space but if that is bothersome, from an aisle or parking perspective, go visit their other store in Burlington.
Robert Ellis
Lots of organic goodies, fun place to be and a nice buffet of hot and cold tasty foods. I love the sauteed brussel sprouts and my GF loves the broccoli pancakes.
Red - Clover
Absolutely amazing in every single way. Some people complain about it being more expensive than their competitors- but those extra dollars and cents are found in the quality and in the community. Ive only once EVER had a poor experience but it was quickly resolved due to a mistake made one of their staff.
Brooke Panton
My favorite place for quick food and great produce! Hot/cold bar and sandwich station are amazing! And the produce is always fresh and beats all supermarkets!
Carmen George Weddings
Wonderful selection of Vermont cheeses, maple syrup and coffee. Staff is the cheese department know what they are talking about. Go early, bike or walk to avoid the insane parking lot.
Sir Luke Spiller
The only place I shop! Organic non GMO and not as processed if at all. Free reverse osmosis water as a member and tastes better than spring water. Get a check in November as a member as well. Tons of college ladies. Nuff said
Marna Ehrech
One of my favorite food stores... And the deli makes great GF breakfast sandwiches! Call ahead and it will be ready for pickup when you get there!
bluwasaabi
They have reverse osmosis filtered water I need. I enjoy shopping here but it's too far away to be my regular store.
Vlad Voloshin
Great store, loved the bulk section!
Sam Stelfox
Good healthy and primarily local grocery store. Member owned with additional benefits to being a member. The sandwich & food bar are surprisingly tasty as well for quick eats.
Jesse Gaboriau
A wonderful grocery store chock full of fine foods from a farm down the road to a coast off Asia. There deli and hot food bar is great if you're in a hurry and church street is too busy.
Henry Cummings
Fantastic co-op grocery store. Fresh selections and friendly staff!
Michael Dumont II
Always great selection of brands, local products, an house prepared foods. Great stop for a picnic outing!
Andrew Lindsay
It's got all the good organic Vermont food I want to eat plus the best beers. Incredible cheeses. The sandwich counter is worth driving from Montreal...
Oliver Scanlon
Always have very good food. The store is not huge and is a little crowded at busy times but it's a nice place. Beware that parking is a hassle as it's almost always packed.
Gabe Harwood
Great organic selection and bulk foods with a bit of variety thrown in. Their prepared foods are great and beer selection is top notch. It is a bit pricey for daily shopping, but worth it for the convenience.
Maria Karunungan
I'm new to Vermont and was worried about not being able to quickly find high quality products at low prices - lo and behold a community market in downtown Burlington! The staff are super friendly and the store is open late which is very convenient.
Ben Carpenter
Very nice/healthy food with a great selection and service with a hot bar and is very convenient as it I'd right in downtown Burlington. Great place to shop for all your grocery's!
Joey Shadel
Good selection of organic produce and other products. A bit on the high-end price wise compared to other organic, locally-sourced stores.
Tom DeBell
Great selection of local products
Kevin Henrichs
By far the best grocery store in town. I prefer downtown. But Flynn ave is 5 stars as well.
Lucien McDougel
I’ve heard they source directly from the ECHO aquarium. One time I was sold an abused dolphin that these hucksters claimed was a large tuna. Tuna comes in a can not in thirteen large overpacked suitcases in the back full of salt. If you ask for something and their shamefaced employees ask you to go in the back of the store to see it... say NO. How low can you go? If your aquarium is too full just put your animals back in the ocean where they belong
Liana Edwards
I love this grocery store. My favorite sections are the bulk items section and the hot buffet. There is always fresh produce and the staff are friendly.
brian dunn
Great local grocery store with Vermonts best product
Bumble Bee
Honestly, I'm going to tell you straight up that everything's overpriced. If you can get a store card or something it does help on some items. It's often super packed, which can be a problem if you're just looking to grab something. The staff are very worn out but seem to make an effort to be friendly.
MP Hedges
Well, it's not a chain and the access by foot, bike or car (horrors!) is sufficient. Not everything passes tree hugger militant standards, but for the most part you can make Earth-friendly buying choices.
Yoga Chick
The food on their Buffet always leaves me wishing it tasted a little bit different and the Big World while they sometimes have reasonable prices on conventional produce, for the most part a lot of their prices are just ridiculous
Rick Pereira
Great selection. Salad greens are extremely fresh. Staff wonderfully pleasant. Good lunch bar and indoor/outdoor seating too.
Jesse Cole
Couldn't find any hormones in the meat. Everything else looked good but I found some identical prosciutto at another grocery store for 50% less.
Toby Metcalf
Great selection of fresh food and local craft beer
Peter Mangan
Great selection of local foods and drinks. If you are visiting from out of town this is a good place to get Vermont beers to bring home.
CinMin Roll
Great place, plenty of vegan options, however there could be more, and it's crowded so the tight little aisles don't help.
John St. Germain
I like this store alot they have great pretty made meals and awesome selection of good food I've learned a few good food from here
ABL II
Dank foods. I recommend the blue ledge richville cheese with persimmons on crackers. The chicken livers are delish as well.
Rebecca Myer
Great place for most organic items you may be looking for. Local variety is great. Some items are pricey, bulk section is amazing!!
Justin Hudson-Sabens
The baskets of small cuts of different cheeses are great for trying new varieties.
Jack Evans
Good prices for a lot of fresh local produce. Has affordable conventional options when needed. Food bar has great food, and the staff is helpful.
Bryce W (B)
2nd favorite grocery store in the entire world (sans honorary histotical delegations)
Dan Hall
Great location, good produce and great bulk section. Seafood leaves something to be desired--better at healthy living. Customer service is sometimes rude.
Michel Harry
Store is extra clean and the staff are helpful even in the middle of covid. Always impressed by their selection of veggies and fruits.
Neil Marriott
City Market is a great place all the way around....great grocery store with good food, good staff, good vibe with a great moral code. There should be more companies like City Market much less grocery stores..
Emmet Costen
Awesome city market, very unique. Visited VT to see family and can honestly say this is the most unique and interesting city market I have ever been to.
Haley Colburn
The sandwiches here are absolutely amazing. They're very generous with their portions and bread, meat and veggies are always fresh!
Joe Mescher
Great sandwiches, fantastic produce and delicious lunch choices. It's a little overpriced, but still a great option for when you need an organic fix in Burlington.
Caroline Frigon
Best place to find high-quality, organic, local goodies whenever you need them 😊 Customer service is also consistently good. Prices are high but fair. …
Michael Dempsey
The best supermarket, I wish I lived closer
Mark Dunn
Cool co-op! I belong to my local one and it is just as great. Groceries and wine/ beer are amazing here.
Dann Doremus
