As soon as my girlfriend and I walked through the door, we were so blessed by the Christian decor, open Bible, and prayer tree. We learned that Miss Loretta just passed into glory with the Lord, but her family and friends that are still running the establishment were so kind and friendly. It made us feel like family as well, which I believe testifies to the legacy Miss Loretta left behind. I can't forget to mention that the beignets were the best we had in New Orleans and we will definitely be back, if not this trip then the next. May the Lord continue to bless this business and its people!!

I had a beignet from Cafe Dumond a day before and it was meh! I found Loretta’s today and I’m in heaven!! This is clearly not a tourist destination and is not in the French Quarter. However, the delicacies are worth the travel. I had a chocolate filled and my wife had a crab filled beignet. They were both sweet, light and the crab was so perfectly seasoned that it didn’t require whatever the sauce was they served it with. Plus an added bonus the iced coffee was on point! This is the place to come if you’re looking for a local black owned business to support and to get beignets at an extremely affordable price. We had 4 beignets, an iced coffee and hot chocolate and spent $22. There are twelve small French cafe tables and the entire spot is very clean and airy. Note - the location on Rampart St. Is not open on Sundays but the extremely pleasant counterperson told us they have a location in the French Market that is open on Sunday.

Please don’t tell all the other places, but Loretta’s has the best beignets in New Orleans. I know that’s a bold statement but they are just the fluffiest and that’s what I want in my beignets. (If you want doughey then go to Cafe Du Monde). We came here a few minutes before 9 and they opened right on time so that made us first in line. Beyond the traditional sugar beignets, I also tried the breakfast beignets with eggs and sausage. That was amazing! So skip the lines, go a little out of the way and you will be richly rewarded. I really liked the authentic atmosphere too.

These are the the best beignets I have ever had, periodt. Crab (1), seafood (2 both shrimp and catfish), cheeseburger (2), chicken tenders (2 dark meat), and traditional (3)... they were ALL amazing! The Tiger Woods beverage was sooo good! We also ordered a sweet potato pie, chocolate praline, and peanut butter praline to go. Forget the hype and popularity of other places, Loretta's is the best. Seriously.

I love beignets and this was my 1st time trying another besides Cafe du Monde. I would say these are great too. The dough is crisper and flaky than the other with i particularly enjoyed. Also the parline stuffed beignet was sooooo good as well as the crab beignet.

Saw a YouTube video of big freesia promoting his favorite black owned restaurants and Nola decided to try this one based on recommendation. Had the seafood beignet. Basically a seafood po boy but the bread is a beignet. This sandwich was one of the best meals I had in New orleans. The seafood was light crispy fresh and fried just right. The beignet was light airy crispy the sauce was a great compliment to the sandwich. The small restaurant was clean and quiet with an old timey feel to it. Service was with a 😃. Just a good place to check out when visiting. I didn't try the pralines but they looked scrumptious.

One of my favourite breakfasts in New Orleans Only a short walk from the quarter, you can get some of the best Beignets and Pralines in the city. The breakfast Beignets are delicious, as are the crab ones. Praline or chocolate and praline Beignets for dessert. Great iced coffee and friendly service too A must visit for New Orleans

My husband and I stopped at Loretta’s on our way out of New Orleans back to NY and boy do we wish we came sooner. Having tried 2 other popular local places for beignets, Miss Loretta’s was like no other! If we came a few days prior we absolutely would’ve come back every day! Slightly flaky, crispy yet soft inside- literal perfection. The breakfast beignet was delightful and the traditional praline beignet was deliciously sweet, as was the original praline we snagged! All of the staff were so friendly and greeted with a smile. If you’re in New Orleans, coming to Loretta’s is a MUST TRY!

I don't know where to begin with my review of this amazing gem. I came just for the shoe soles which were recommended and they did not disappoint. They will even pack them in sealed plastic sleeves so they remain fresh if you are traveling, very clever suggestions by the most wonderful staff. I left with some very delicious and surprisingly unique beignets that were not dense and flavorless but instead had layers and a choice of filling: I got the praline and chocolate praline filled versions. They barely made it home. I will definitely be back whenever I am in town and I look forward to trying other menu items when I do. Beignets sliders?! YUM!

We have tried so many different beignets, and these were by far the best. They are more expensive than the other places, but at least the location does not look like a beignet factory, and the taste is worth it. Service was super kind and the praline were heaven too!

I went to Loretta's Authentic Pralines with a few of my friends for the first time. My Uncle's Brother told me to get him 10 pralines, he had been plenty of times. I said ok. I loved that the menu was written in colored chalk. I have never had pralines before and wasn't sure I would like them. I got a box of 12 pralines, 10 for my Uncle's brother, one for me to try and 1 for someone else in our family. I saw they had sweet potato pie and sweet potato pie is my favorite. So I ordered this as well. When I got back to our Airbnb and told my Uncle's brother they had a box of 6 or 12 so I got 12, since he wants 10 and I want one, we have one left. He said no I'm going to take that and I busted out laughing. I ate the sweet potato pie first and I loved the package it was in, I almost didn't want to open it. I tired the praline and pralines aren't for me but I did enjoy the pie.

Wonderful!!!! Don’t even bother going anywhere else for praline’s or beignets! We went here on our last day, after four days of being in town and had already tried beignets LITERALLY everywhere else. These are by far the BEST! After having the praline beignet, I am ruined! The Hot caramel praline sauce drizzled, on top of the hot beignets, sprinkled with powered sugar, how could you resist!? They also have about ten other kinds of stuffed beignets!! Sweet and savory, stuffed with chicken or crab or even peanut butter and jelly! I will never go anywhere else while in New Orleans for beignets! The other amazing thing about Loretta’s is that she tells her story with news paper articles, biographies, bible verses and uplifting quotes all over the place. She used her pralines to spread love and light all over the world. She put Jesus at the center of her business and he made her business flourish and prosper.

Ms. Loretta's is the spot for Service let me say. We came on a Thursday for authentic New Orleans food cus that's what my hubby was looking for and ran across this God inspired Praline goddess. First off it's a simple place nothing serious to look at but the candy was beautiful. We were served even though they only cook on Fridays but for us she cooked. People she didn't even though she was in the middle of doing she has candy going out, this woman has truly shown us what a special person she is. And the Praline bacon candy was the best Ever!!!!

The best beignets EVER! They are made to order so they're hot when you get them. It's very light, melt in your mouth, similar to croissant, and deliciously & pleasantly addictive. It comes in a variety of flavors. We had the traditional ones on two different visits while we were on vacation there. We took some back home to family members, at their request. Forget that other well known beignets place and try Loretta's at either French Market or North Rampart. It's well worth it!

Do it! At first, I was a little nervous. I rode a rented blue bike into what at first glance is not a fantastic neighborhood. I'm a woman wearing mens dress clothes so all the Jesus, Lord & prayer stuff EVERYWHERE was actually a little scary for me. I didn't know if they were going to be mean or worse. These are the nicest people you'd hope to meet. The beignets are fantastic. I left my jacket in the bike basket. I called, they grabbed it & held it for me. Thanks so much! The breakfast beignets (egg and sausage or egg and bacon), the crab filled beignets, and chocolate pralines are amazing here. Service was quick and Loretta was kind and a lot was fun to talk to while we are. Caution if you are rowdy and cuss a lot you will be kicked out.

At Loretta's Authentic Pralines they have praline-filled beignets. The pastries are quite tasty, but the mound of powdered sugar makes it hard to not sneeze on them. You can see the backscatter from my failed attempt to hold in a respiratory spasm from all the sugar. I ended up using some of it to sweeten my chai just to get it off of the beignets.

Love the authentic feel to Loretta's. The items were a little pricey, about $50 for a dozen of pralines, a brownie, and an apple turnover. Other than that, no one complaints whatsoever. Would definitely go again!

Loretta's was a 5-minute walk from our location so we decided to try it. OMG!! We had breakfast beignets and chocolate beignets. They were wonderful! We immediately started planning our next visit. The beignets came out fresh, which made them more perfect. The customer service was good and the place felt homey. So wonderful! I ordered mini individual packaged pralines as thank you gifts for my wedding guests. This business was very helpful and easy to work with and my order was ready to pick up in time. More importantly, the tasty pralines were a hit with my guest's and when we finally got to eat one a few days after our wedding we were pleased with how fresh and flavorful these pralines were. We taste tested them compared to other local pralines and by far lorettas we the best! They also had a lot of chopped pecans which i feel other brands skimp on.

Went on vacation this week with my wife and I do my best to dine with locals/tourist alike. Found this place on Google and had to try it based on the reviews. We ended up ordering 3 boxes of assorted pralines for family/friends and was impressed to find that each one was individually wrapped in the box. My wife and I ate the chocolate filled beignets. They were amazing! They were light, flaky and prepared while we waited. The filling was a something between a chocolate pudding and the chocolate icing you'd find on top of a dough nut. Best beignets I had while in NOLA.

Today I came to Loretta’s after being recommended from Malik at Know NOLA Tours. The food was excellent and the service was beyond exceptional! Ms. Loretta greeted us and even prayed for my mom who is in town receiving a kidney transplant. She gave us parting gifts as well. I had the fried catfish dinner with the Mac and cheese and potato salad. It felt like a home cooked meal. We also had a fried lemon pie as well as the pralines. We bought pralines, sweet potato pie and cookie to go. I can’t wait to return to NOLA again so I can come back.

If you don't like having to wait at the crowded Cafe Du Monde this should be your preferred stop with better taste too. Large building w/plenty of seating. Loretta's beignets are THE best! We tried beignets at multiple places in NOLA and no one else's compared. So light and flaky and you can get them stuffed! OMG! We stopped here for a light breakfast and shared the savory crab stuffed (AMAZING!) and sausage, egg, and cheese beignets to start. We finished with their signature praline stuffed beignets, filled with gooey praline goodness and topped with plenty of powdered sugar- to die for! The restaurant is very bright and cheery with plenty of tables for dining in (but many people came in for carry out while we were there are). They also have a booth in the French Market with a slightly more limited selection of beignets, pralines, and other sweet treats.

Started our day with beignets and coffee. We now consider these to be the best we have had (yes we like them more than Morning Call and Café Du Monde). The breakfast beignets were really good. Ms. Loretta makes some great pralines too. The original are great, and we bought a box of various flavors to share with out family. I haven't been very impressed with several of the area praline offerings as none of the confectionery makers made a praline worth seeking out. This all changed during the 2010 Jazz Fest where I had the honor of being a volunteer worker assisting Loretta of Loretta's Authentic Pralines when she did her praline cooking demonstration. When I sampled her cooking I was blown away as they were by far and away the best pralines I have ever tasted. If I could I would have made myself sick as I couldn't stop eating them. It is no joke that these are the best creamy New Orleans style pralines in the world. I went by her Marigny store on N. Rampart & you could smell the delicious as soon as you walked in the door. She offers many tasty items but she is best known for her pralines. So if you want to bite into the best tasting creamy pralines on Earth, do yourself a favor and stop by Loretta's and I promise you won't be sorry.

So yes Cafe du Monde is an institution, yes they are open 24 hours a day, and yes there food and coffee is good. However we stopped into Lorettas on our last day in town and I don't think I will ever go back to Cafe Du Monde. The begniets are amazing, they are flaky and crunchy but fresh and fantastic. I ordered the ice tea and was amazed that instead of ice she uses frozen lemonade it was bananas. We didn't get lunch but we will be back for sure!

I can not fairly compare original beignets to praline beignets, but I will definitely go for Lorettas praline beignets any day over the original beignets at other places. They are to die for. Thats the only sweets I want from now on when I go to the NOLA. The storefront is closed until August 31, but the one at the French Market stall is really close.
