This place is always kept so clean. The staff is always friendly and the ease of checking in and out is quick. My family loves coming here on the weekends just to get them out of the house and to a place we know is safe and fun. As our family continues to do our part in practicing social distancing, if my kids are asked where they want to go for fun, you can count on their response to be “the Rec center” Thank you all for giving our families a safe home away from home fun spot for our kids. It means a lot to this mom. 😊❤️

My 9yo son and I really enjoyed the pool. Most of the inside public pools in Salt Lake do NOT have hot tubs, so I was pleasantly surprised that not only did they have one but it had really strong jets! They also had a big fun slide for my son. If all the public pools we go to, this one had the most people there, so it didn't really help my headache, but that's okay - because they actually have a (wonderful) hot tub that made up for it!

Nice, and has plenty of amenities for workout or play. Definitely a great place for kids, and the year pass for a family of 6 is $440, which is not bad at all. Highly recommended!

I love the rec center. Its very clean and well maintained. The staff are always very helpful. The kid care is nice. From what I've seen the workers just watch the kids play and don't plan any activities to do with them, which is fine but I wish they did organized activities. We used to go the Y and the kid care staff there were more active with the kids and did free play as well as organizing activities so that's the only thing I wish was different. Otherwise this is a great rec center.

Awesome indoor pool for the kiddos! A Big water slide, lazy river and fun sprinklers for them to play in. Way worth the cost of admission OR membership. They even have this really cool water extractor you put your bathing suit in and it sucks all the water out of them for a quarter! You won't be disappointed I promise!

They may not have the best pool or the best gym. But this is the rec center for me. Let me explain the who and why that will always have me returning. THE DAYCARE AND DAYCARE STAFF. I have a few kids from age 4 down to age 1. And this is the only gym that will watch kids below the age of 2. The daycare staff are awesome with the kids always paying attention to the them and involving themselves with the activities kids wanna do. Never do I feel my kids will be ignored. In fact my 3 year old aaden always wants to go to DAYCARE lol. SPECIAL THANKS TO THE DAYCARE STAFF.

We love the rec center! Great climbing wall, awesome pool for the kids, and tons of fun classes! They're also really affordable. This place has been a literal lifesaver for our family during Covid!

Wonderful facility. They have gone above and beyond to keep everyone safe in this hard time. Following the guidelines so they can stay open, and adjusting as much as they can to keep doing things. They do require masks for patrons to wear into the facility, but have the machines separated out so that once you're working out you can take off the masks. The front desk has thick plexiglass to protect the staff and patrons, that is cleaned regularly. It does make it hard to hear them and they struggle to hear us as we come in, but they're still nice about it. You do have to check in with them instead of just being able to walk in. Even with all the restrictions, they've done a wonderful job keeping the place clean. I see custodial staff members all the time cleaning and there is always someone around when I have a question.

This center was the only one open for swimming that was not at full capacity when we went swimming. Nice little swimming area. Perfect for smaller children because the water is not deep. My 8 year old wanted a deeper pool but loved the slide.

I love this place. It's nice to see people from all backgrounds being active. The place offers well taken care installations and a wide variety of classes. We mostly use the pool, and my 4 yo loves the big slide.

Swimming pool was not chilly, just right. Hot tub was hot. The women's locker room had an ankle deep puddle of frigid water you had to walk through to get to the pool. The slide is big and fast. Swimming lanes are just the right temp.

Kids really enjoyed swimming here. Very affordable place to come swim especially in the winter when you can't swim outside. It's pretty big. The kids really enjoyed the water slide. And the bathrooms were decent.

Friendly and helpful staff. It had a stunning pool and a workout room and a air hockey table with done pool tables...not sure what else there is as those are the things I used. Everything is pretty well maintained. I would recommend going here.

The pool is a lot of fun, especially for kids. It can get really crowded on weekends, but it's not too bad on weekdays, even in the summer. My kid and his cousins love the edutainment play place. That thing is huge. The weight room has a good variety of machines, but they're packed in pretty tight. It's almost like someone was playing Tetris to get them in there.

This is a great facility if you like swimming. The one downside is the locker room was not very secure. It would have gotten five stars for the review if the locker rooms had been more secure. The facility is nice and clean. The classes they offer are excellent. And the pool and swimming area for the kids are just amazing. Plus the kids can play while you swim laps. Lots of lifeguards on duty.

Utah is the best place for families and Family Center is the proof of that. In a big city as New York City, a place like that you can only access with a membership and maybe it is not going to be least of $600 annually by person (without swimming pool)

Fun for everyone. Has a complete workout/gym area, along with being able to walk around an indoor track. Able to go swimming in their swimming pool. Has a neat play area for little kids. Offers rock climbing, babysitting while parents do their thing. Has dance classes at night. Along with other classses/activities/sports. Really fun place to go at any age.

Had a great time there to spend it with my son. We went to the play area which was in ok condition. Wish there would have been more staff available in the kids area, as I noticed an older man who didn't look like he had children who was with him. Got very protective and kept a closer eye on my child. Swimming was great!

I've been going here on and off for many years. They have a good variety of workout equipment and plenty to work with even at their busy times. Staff is always smiling and friendly. Can get noisy with all the little kids and the locker room floors are always wet, but to be expected with having a pool.

Our family loves coming here. The children's play area is wonderful. The staff is helpful. It's great. The water slide is super fast! It also has a nice gym area and kids play area. The bottom of the pool is kind of deteriorating, so we've received some scrapes if we're not careful. Also some of the family changing rooms showers are kind of messed up (hot and cold water switches randomly.) Once they fix that, 5 stars!

Nice big family rec center! some of their equipment is a little outdated and the building could use some updating but it definitely has everything you need to get a good workout in. prices are incredibly Fair especially for West Valley residents who are looking to start a family membership. Staff is also super friendly and cheerful when helping. it's also a huge facility so you always feel like you have somewhere to go without getting overcrowded

Great place to work out. Staff is friendly and helpful. I go almost everyday and do cardio and weights. Also enjoy the hot tub. Great community center for things like Halloween safety fair, free tax help, and lots of other stuff. Also has good softball fields and outdoor walking track. A real gem for our community.

I love going to the gym here, but I can not stand that the water fountains never work and the cleaning strain for the machines is never filled. NEVER go after 5. The entire cardio theater is filled with 6 and under kids playing with everything

I was only there two days performing maintenance on the roof. But I made several trips through in and out of the building with tools and equipment and was impressed with what I saw. If my interaction with front desk and maintenance staff reflect the climate this is a nice facility.

I went there for my Aunt and Uncles 50th Wedding Anniversary Party held on the 2cd floor and it was very nice. It was up and out of the way of the fitness center and all of the traffic. We also had a private room where no one could bother us.

Clean and Cool, the pool is redone after decade plus of original design, and great place for kids. It gets a 4* on fact that there is no sauna or steam room, which is only reason I don't love it there like I did in past at Golds or County ran gyms. Staff is great.

I go here almost daily. I use the fitness classes, cardio equipment, track, weight room, and pool area. My daughter uses the gymnasium to practice volleyball. They've updated a lot of their equipment. I like it. The classes I go to are awesome. I take an aerobics class and a yoga class. There is new equipment in the weight room. I like it. I have no issues with the locker room. It smells like a locker room, not roses. I have had a membership since 2011 and have yet to have anything missing or stolen. So I have no clue what the prior post is about. Whatever. The pool is small. There is one slide. i am not in it for the pool anyway so I don't care. I love love love the fact they don't allow kids in the hot tub. There is nothing more annoying then having hot water splashed in my face (and yes I have kids). Kids can play and splash in the pools. They don't need to be in the hot tub at all. All in all, I like it here as long as it isn't Saturday. I refuse to go on a Saturday afternoon. It is so crowded I can hardly walk in there. Just way too many people for me.

Cheaper than Vasa's monthly if you have a family of 4 or more, has a large pool, great for all ages. But parking can sometimes be difficult to find on busy hours. However since I'm going for fitness, I don't mind parking really far away.

I love the rec center, we have a family annual membership. The playground is great and our kids do summer camp here and enjoy it. The camp has very convenient early drop-off late pick-up hours, although I wouldn't complain if they were a bit earlier. They were very accommodating to me though, opening up the playground earlier in the morning than they did previously so my kids could play while I exercised. The weight room can be ridiculous in the afternoons/evenings/on Saturdays, so avoid those peak times if possible. The pool is fun and has a waterslide, unfortunately the membership doesn't cover the outdoor pool though. Also there are no benefits at the ice center for members, even though it's in the same building.

My kid loves the kiddie pool here but it's also a great place to come and work out, they have a lap pool, basketball court, hand ball rooms, weights, cardio section just to name a few. It's crowded before 9am and after 5pm but in my experience there's always space on a treadmill or elliptical.

This place offers a competitive gym membership with childcare included. The edutainment center is amazing my two kids loved it! The inside of the hamster run (those tubes the kids can crawl around in) could use some TLC as there were punching-bag type obstacles that were synthetic leather and they were cracked, sometimes split and you could see the inner stuffing. Additionally there is quite the accumulation of dirt inside the tubes which makes me wonder how often and how thoroughly they are cleaned. STILL, the play store, the interactive projector game, the blocks, the rest of it is great! The gym itself is respectably clean with sanitizing stations practically every 10 feet. The staff is helpful, and the group classes are AMAZING. I have never been so happy to be so sore, and even the class peers are wonderfully welcoming. Can't wait to go back to classes once we're in the green zone!

The price is great for everything you're getting- playground, rock wall, gym, swimming.... But the play area could use a little updating, for example the grocery store was very sparse. And I suppose it's hard to find warm pools, but we took my 1yo here who loves swimming, and we couldn't stay more than 20 mins because she was shivering so much. I'd give this place 3 stars, but it does have an adorable price for those of us on a tight budget.

We love coming on Monday or Wednesday night when they have staff supervised rock climbing. For entry for my 5 year old just $2.50 he can do climbing wall, indoor edutainment center(playground and games) and even do swimming. My 3 yr old is still free so this is awesome entertainment out of the hot sun. The climbing wall staff have always been excellent and friendly to my kids. The pool is fun just a little cool but my 5 yr old has fun on the slide. Last visit I was a little annoyed by the teenagers splashing and nearly running over top of us on the lazy river without being considerate of others especially small kids.

Pros: The fitness center is a wonderful place to go. If you have young children and do not want to pay extra for daycare, you can have 1 hour of free daycare while you exercise, then come back after 3 hours and get another hour for free. If you go over, the cost is not very bad. My wife feels the class instructors are more invested than the local VASA gyms which keeps the class moving. There is a free rock wall that caters to bouldering at any time, and have set times for climbing. (If you are belayed certified you can climb at any time) The cardio area is well supplied. There are everything from stationary bikes, treadmills, rowers, elliptical, ab stations, and other various machines as you would like. The edutainment center for children is well stocked and has a lot of activities available for children. The pool area is fun. There is a children play area, water slide, and lap swim lanes. The water feels good and there is usually space available. NUETRAL: Sometimes there are swim teams using some of the lanes so plan ahead to get a time that will not conflict. You are sharing a parking lot with the Centennial Park which can cause some grief when parking (but you're there to exercise so it doesn't hurt to have to walk a little too) Sometimes to get in the gate arm bar doesn't recognize you and will not spin the first time. CONS: Sometimes the restrooms feel messier than they should. They have not updated their prices so when paying I thought my membership would be one thing but it was a little more. The flyers were printed in 2013 and should be updated. --Side Note-- You will come across people that disregard common rules and think they are above it. This does not reflect on the fitness center. I feel that this is common of any place you go anymore.

We had a family pass for a year. I liked being able to work out there every morning. Plenty of treadmills. There is a variety of weight machines so it didn't feel too crowded. We played racquetball a few times as a family, but mostly we came for ping pong and air hockey. There isn't too much else, except for the indoor pool which is decent. Too bad the ice rink wasn't included.

Prices are right. Significantly cheaper for an annual membership for two when a resident of West Valley City than at Vasa. There's pools, full weight room, plenty of treadmills, and bikes, there's a weekly slate of classes to take, and it's a clean environment. There's a play place for kids, happy employees. It's not a bad gym at all. It's not 24 hours but they're open at like 5 AM and don't close until 11 PM most days. So I feel like most people can find an hour that works for them. There's tracks, a climbing wall, and outdoors tracks, baseball fields and pools as well. They just opened up the skate park next door also so you can leave the gym then hit the half pipe. I also like the fact that a membership here goes back into the facility and the West Valley City government. Seems more "local?" I guess than funding Vasa's already padded pockets. Work out at your local city fitness center and support the city you live in.

The indoor kids center is the most amazing thing during hot summer days. Great climbing wall with opening climbing multiple days a week. Easy to get belay certified with Parker. He is super knowledgable and patient, and will ensure you have all the clinging fundamentals you need in order to be a successful newbie climber. Great kids care staff with free kids care until 8pm on weekdays :-) Great rates on room rentals.

I wish I lived much closer. Id definitely get an annual pass. I do wish the annual pass could include centennial pool instead of being a separate price. Kearns already does this. While everything is nice and clean and updated I’m extremely disappointed by the weights area. They’ve gone overboard on the cardio area which may get used a lot i don’t know but I still am tired of fitnes centers not appreciating the change in fitness ideas. Which is weightlifting. So while the change has been around for a while the equipment in most centers is lacking. This is why I continue my Vasa membership. Wvfc’s weighs area is beyond tiny and EXTREMELY crowded because of trying to fit equipment in. I can barely do deadlifts when it’s NOT busy. So I’m not saying this is a bad place. It’s wonderful. I just wish it would better fit my needs. They are bringing a new class in! Water Yoga.... which incorporates paddle boards and yoga. So it’s more of a cardio yoga vs a meditative yoga.

Great place for those looking to imrpove themselves. The fitness center has all the tools you need and the indoor track makes running in any weather possible. An extensive cardio deck makes for a great place to warm up or cool down pre/post workout. Indoor lap pool is available for those looking for a low-impact workout. The only major downside is the number of destructive children running around unchecked and the really small lockers rooms. An inconvenience for the fitness center is that it is crammed into a small space with little room for non-machine workouts. Only one power rack and only two olympic style flat barbell benches.
