Reviews of Liberty State Park

Great little park just outside the city.
If you are into picnics this is a great place.
Has great views.
And some wildlife. ("wildlife" - very human friendly)
It's recommended not to feed birds as they keep the insect population low.
If you are luck the ice-cream truck will stop by.
Abdus Subhan
This was an excellent FREE short excursion between college baseball games. Walked the beautiful promenade along the waterfront with world-class views of the Statute of Liberty, Ellis Island, and Manhattan skyline. Very well kept park with what looks like plenty of great trails and open areas to do just about anything (Adult flag football game going on even). Bring a camera as the views are amazing. It was windy and cold that AM but it was also that time of year.
Fureall A
Great fun for Picnics as well as just hanging out and bicycling. Fabulous views in daylight as well as nighttime. Does get crowded but it’s a huge park and u would find a good spot for yourself for sure!.. free parking is very limited and there are parking lots with paid parking.
Salim Khoso
This place has a great importance which offers a beautiful view of the New York skyline. Standing here gives a great peace of mind where you experience, buildings, sea, ships and many other beautiful things. This park is huge and feels Never ending while you keep on walking around. You may also see the Statue of Liberty from the other side of the park. If you like to see the real and whole view of the skyline, then you are at the right place.
Shawn G.
Beautiful memorial walls with view of the new building in distance. Great place to ride bikes with many paths along the water and also paths through the park. Summertime is more beautiful with awesome landscaping and greenery. Pack a lunch and stay for hours. Easy & free parking!
Scott Hackenburg
Great place to take the kids, the playground is super big with two play sets for varying types of kids. Great view of the statue of liberty! Great view of NYC! Great view of the he Hudson! Perfect place to see at least three sets of fireworks on the fourth of July. Including the big Macy's ones.
Chaquita Byrd
Nice and quiet, very big with plenty of space to have family gatherings or just a me or a me and you moment 👍. The view of New Jersey City, New York City, Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero building, Empire State building, the Big Beautiful Sailboats and Rikers Island is something else 🙂 and there's also 9/11 Memorial, a Small Statue of Liberty,Old Historic Train Station (to take some beautiful background pictures) and Ferry boat store to purchase tickets for boat ride in the park. Depending on where you are coming from it's either the freeway over or the George Washington Bridge. Beautiful Park

A very calm and green park. There are many parks and waterfront in the area but none so green and so huge. The boardwalk spans a much larger area. There is lot of greenery where one can bring kids/pets for playing and walking. We can see the New York skyline and statue of liberty all in one place. Great for sunset views. Can also see Manhattan bridge. Will visit again.
Matthew Davis
The park is very well maintained and easy to get to. Plenty of parking in various spots and the walk to the water isn't to far. The walking path along the water is very wide and has plenty of room. We also drove down to the parking area for the ferry and took the ferry to the see Lady Liverty. The views of the city from the ferry ride were great! Great time!
Harper Voyages
It is so great that they have parks like this for everyone to enjoy. It is bike friendly and they have a nice exercise circuit along the path. The garden areas are nicely maintained and there are also plenty of benches to sit and relax a bit.
Mass Engineer
Decent free park with good views of Manhattan (New York City), the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. Traveling with our dog we couldn't go to Ellis or the Statue, so this is as close as we could get. At the northeast end of the park, the Statue of Liberty Parking lot charges a fee; we went just past there and parked free at the "2 Hour Parking Lot" (2 hour limit). The old Central NJ railroad terminal is interesting, it's fixed up, sells tickets for the ferry to Ellis, and has restrooms. Previously unknown to me, the Morris canal used to terminate near here, and was essential for transporting goods to and from Pennsylvania. Best views of the Statue of Liberty are from the park past the Flag Plaza on the southeast end of the park.
James Harris
Super well organized and of course it's just an awesome place to visit. We we're really thankful that they could provide a loaner wheelchair and we're kind enough to hold the boat so our group could stay together. Fantastic views of Manhattan.
Christian Cortes
I loved coming here as a kid. Now as an adult, whenever I visit NYC and showing my friends around, I always include this place on my itinerary. Great views of the Manhattan skyline especially the downtown area. The park closes at 10pm in the summer time, so go there at night to get some spectacular views. But as always keep your wits about you as there are areas that are not well lit if you plan to travel solo.
Bhushan Sonaje
Amazing park, you can spend entire day here with family and kids. You can also plan BBQ parties here wooden benches are installed. Big play ground is present for kids near parking lot 7. Parking is free near park, but roadside parking near liberty statue ferry is paid one.
Saiprabhu B
This is the place to be to catch an unabashed view of the lower Manhattan and Jersey City skylines. Both the day and Night views are amazing. We prefer to be here during late evenings and stay till it's dark to get a piece of both the views. The Park also houses Empty Sky Memorial erected in honor of those who lost their lives in 9/11 attacks. It's an heartbreaking moment in history and it was indeed touching to be here and take a moment to reflect on the lives sacrificed. Plenty of parking space was available when we were here just after New year.
Brinda Rao
If you need up close and personal views of NYC skyline then this place must be at the top of your list.
Both views at sunrise and sunset will look beautiful. The parking lot is huge and expect a bit of a walk to get closer to the skyline.
They have few restrooms, but during my visit they had it locked up.
There are ferries that goes to Liberty Island and Ellis island, but again at the time of writing, the ferry services were closed.
It was a bit of bummer, but nevertheless the skyline was mesmerizing.
Absolutely recommend this place!

As I kid I never got the chance to see the statue of liberty so sharing this moment with my kids was special. Saw helicopters flying, folks fishing, running,on bikes and I let my lil ones ride their scooters. The scenery was so breath taking and it felt good to see all walks of life out and about enjoying themselves. Felt we are getting a little bit of normalcy back since the pandemic.
Mady CoSt
Beautiful place to enjoy you and your company. Great place to have a relax moment ,you can walk and by one side see Manhattan New York and the other side liberty statue. Recommended for all kinds of age
Yousef A. Almubarak
Lovely parking to walk and relax. It offer spectacular view of Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty ferry access.
Free parking and not crowded most of the time.
Madina Pardaeva
Park is clean. Great place to enjoy the views of Manhattan. It isn’t crowded. Best time to visit is during the Sunset. There’s also the Empty sky 9/11 Memorial.
Lauren “罗云”
It was admittedly a little confusing to navigate to it via GPS from the light rail. But, once we were there, it was a gorgeous walk with a 9/11 memorial and insane closeup views of the city skyline, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. Worth the long walk to get to the north viewpoint. Be sure to pack some quarters so that you can utilize the tower viewer/scenic magnifiers located around the park. Sadly, due to COVID, the ferry that transports you to Liberty Island/Ellis Island from here is closed until further notice. You can only take it via reservations on the Manhattan side.
Barbara Perez
Beautiful memorial wall in remembrance of the 911 victims. Liberty State Park has great views of lower Manhattan. Great place to walk or sit and relax taking in the view of NYC. Love this place.
Nicholas Rositano
Breathtaking views of the New York City’s Financial District, Ellis island, and the Statue of Liberty all in one eyeful. It is a journey to get out here if you don’t own a car. It’s also a LONG walk from the nearest light rail station. But my goodness is it worth it. Wide path allows for pedestrians and bikers to safely ride and walk and the paths. I would absolutely come here again.
Prakash Prabhu
A visit to New York is incomplete without a visit to Liberty State Park. One needs to take a Ferry which has a stop over at Ellis Island in between. As it is an island, there is no access by road. There is an icecream stall and restrooms. The view of the New York skyline from the Island is exhilarating. The last ferry to mainland leaves at 5 pm.
Taylor Kim
It has 911 memorial and it was great place take a walk with friends and families. Specially when the sunset, walking on the bridge was great! In addition can see the statue of liberty!
Cajetan Barretto
An amazing location to chill out and view the beautiful Manhattan skyline. When I visited, it was extremely cold (below zero celsius) and the park was full of snow.
The sun was about to set so I decided to hang around to capture the new York skyline at sunset (see the photos in the review). There is a bridge that goes to the famous Ellis island (which was used to process the immigrants). However, the bridge is not accessible for public. You can also get a great view of the Statue of Liberty (the view is of the back of the statue).
Definitely a must visit location if you are in Jersey City (especially if you love photography).
Mark Dooley
Came in December in the morning and it was totally empty. Has great views of the city and Statue of Liberty. If you have extra time when driving into NYC, this is a great quick stop to get great pics.
Ritesh Khajuria
Amazing place to spend an evening. Not a winter evening for sure. Must visit during day in winters. Loved the feel of this park with the amazing NYC skyline view across the Hudson River.
Giovani Guarnieri
Very Good place to go with family and kids. Bunch of tables for picnic and barbecue.
Kids Playground is huge and very nice. Kids love it. You can see the Statue 🗽 and the new tower. …
Natalia Mora
A great view of the skyline or down Manhattan and a sneak peak view of the Statue of Liberty, you don't need more. Arrive there is easy, I took the NJ light rail train and walk around 3 blocks and areibe there. Views are astonishing, perfect for sit and admire the view, read, a picnic or all of them.
Tammy Cameron
Arrived just after it opened on a Saturday. Very few people there. Great view of the Statute of Liberty and the NYC skyline. Also saw a smaller status in the park of never heard of before. Worth it for that memorial alone.
William H
Great place to walk around and reflect upon the freedoms we have because of the sacrifices of others......think about that when your voting to destroy this country and give rights to those whom haven't earned it, and handouts. The picture of liberty is from the back, because Dems have turned their backs on freedom and democracy, our rights and this country. Remember how you got your rights, and the culture that secured them. God Speed to all our Heroes whom fought to make this country Great, let's make it Great Again
M-C H
Great view of the city, Ellis Island and the statue of Liberty in a green, relaxing environment. Free parking. Lots of space for kids to play. Clean washrooms.
Ajay Bansal
The weather was perfect for an afternoon winter walk with the dog. Very well maintained and a beautiful walk with views of the skyline, Ellis island and Statue of Liberty

This was our second visit. My child is under the age of 10 and I love that this center is very interactive. There so much to play with. The add-on movies are worth it also. There's a lot to see and do, we spent about 4 hours there. I highly recommend it.
katherine Hotchkiss
Very nice views of New York City and Statue of Liberty. Parking was easy as for you have a few different lots to park and access the walking trails to the water. Saw many people picnicking and playing with their pooches. Nice green space right in the city! 👍 …
Cindy Wetter
Great place to walk, bike, picnic, people watching and benches to over look the city. Plenty of places to park and everything was clean. Enjoy nature everyone!
Max Garval
Cool view of the statue, and the walk was nice, if a little cold this time of year (it's currently January). The science center is like $40 though, which is very expensive. We ended up just leaving without seeing it, but it does look cool!
Celmira Lamadrid
Very well maintained
Bathrooms are clean and soap and toilet paper available it is always good.
Picnics, barbecue area.
You get a nice view of west side Manhattan.
I didn’t see any food or drinks available to buy.
Dilenia Vasquez
Had a wonderful 4th of July day at Liberty State Park. It was safe, cleaned, plenty of parking spaces. 100% recommended. Be sure to bring your blanket, chair or hammock.
Anand Kaushal
Nice open area, lots of trails to walk your dog, nice cherry blossom lined walk way during April and places to sit asking the waterfront to enjoy the views
Omar Nassar
Such a beautiful park with breathtaking views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. I would recommend you go around sunset time to get the best experience
Arjun Bali
Always a memorable experience visiting this park. Open spaces to walk/run/cycle, no parking hassles, fun playground for the kids and yes the exquisite New York skyline as a background for all those family pictures.
Jessica Lott
Beautiful. The old road is something to desirable. Show up early to get through check. Went to two different sides and didn't see it all. Can't wait to go back
Rachana Kandari
11 degrees Celsius on new year's 1st day was wonderful. The view of the new york city skyline was beautiful. The parking is 30 mins free after there are charges. New Jersey people go on a regular morning walk via this route to this area.
Sourav Kumar Ukil
Most amazing park in New Jersey, perfect place to observe the beauty of Status of Liberty and New York Skyline on the other side of Hudson River. A highly recommended park for roaming around, tons of people everyday walking, running, cycling or doing picnic activities with the view.
Rox
My absolute favorite park!!! Never crowded, giant space, great view and right next to water. You can rent a bike near the park entrance and explore because walking would take forever.
mansi morye
Loved it. The view is so good. It was very cloudy and windy when I visited so couldn’t spend lot of time. But it was beautiful.
Sunshine M.
My all time favorite water pier to visit! We have been coming here for years. Beautiful scenery and boats and of course the city skyline is wonderful.
Nishant Patel
We drove through Liberty state park on our way to New York and the drive itself is so beautiful, its an old brick road which has the city in one side and the harbour on the other which has so many boats docked and it looks stunning, along with that we can see the Statue of Liberty from backside and its a beautiful drive, you can get down and walk around too. Parking is a lil far but its worth it.
Eileen H
Beautiful, spacious park with a gorgeous view of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Huge, clean playground for the kids. Great park for a family cookout...bring your own grill though.
PIYUSH KESHARWANI
We visited here for July 4th Firework. The park is beautiful and very well maintained. Good spot for spending family time by looking at manhattan’s skyline.
Nam Repus
Absolutely gorgeous, very quiet, clean, serene, and peaceful, do enjoy! This was the first time my wife and I had been here, her family had came in originally as immigrants and she has been waiting quite a while to be able to visit! Praise God the opportunity was provided!
Rhea Tulio
Everytime I go bring some friends visiting NY this is where I take them to not only board a ferry to Liberty Island and Ellis Island but to have a better view of the New York Skyline. Parking is very big but for a minimal fee and there's a lot of things you can do while in the area. You can do picnic ,walking or bring your bike. I highly recommend visiting this place when in NY or NJ area
Caspar4400
This State Park is great the park has a lot of attractions, the main two that require cash is 1. the trip to Ellis Island, that then goes to Liberty Island. The second is the Liberty Science center. The park is very large and has great view of lower Manhattan and the western border of Manhattan. There are many small commemorative statues and monuments the main two are the “Grove of Remembrance”, and the “Empty Sky Memorial”. So if you go have fun and enjoy the park.
Terence Seldon
Great spot to see the New York city skyline, the Statue of Liberty (Which is in NJ by the way!), and Ellis Island. Sadly it closes at 10, otherwise it will also be an awesome place to watch the New Year’s Eve fireworks with the NYC skyline.
Ben Tackley
Very beautiful, if you're in the area, this park is a great place to check out, clean, not too congested, great view of Ellis Island, Liberty Island and Manhattan, nice boardwalk
Domenico De Santo
We use this location for take the ferry boat to Ellis Island and The Statue of Liberty. Very convenient and less stressed out about the NYC traffic. Parking was easy and not expensive.
Osolot W
Very nice riverside park. You can only see the Stature of Liberty from behind so don't think you'll get a good view of it.
Venkateswara Damu
Everything is very organized. Make sure to take pedestal entry if you want to get into the statue. If not, general admission should suffice. Ferry ride was good. The whole experience is awsome. Park is maintained very neatly. Food, gifts, souvenirs were pricey but worth it/no choice.
Miranda Suess
I am a local photographer and come here often to take photos of people for headshots and couples! Best place for scenic NYC skyline views too!
Nicholas Klein
A beautifully done park with one of the best views of New York's skyline, as well as a beautiful 9/11 memorial.
Robert Field
I rode me electric scooter through the park and was such a beautiful ride. Good way to clear the mind and relax.
Jake Nguyen
Great view of the statue and city line. Very well kept. Didn’t bring our bikes but assuming they must have great trails because there were tons of bicyclists out and about.
Gilles Dufour
We went there to take the boat to liberty island and i took us 5 min, the old train station is beautifull and i would like to have acces but in the shape that it is i understand yo by ticket for the boat in an old building that is verry nice the septembre 11 memorial is huge, lastly the parking is cheep
Jose Ortega
Great place to come for a walk, picnic or just to stare at the New York skyline. Lots of good parking, walkways with plenty of space and benches to sit and people watch. It’s easy to get to and there is just something for everyone here.
It really is a gem of the area and I love coming here.
LeTs RoAm ArOuNd ThE WoRlD !!
We have visited this beautiful park many times during pandemic as almost all indoor attractions were close that time. So this park have huge grass lots. It is located on the bank Hudson River, NY views are incredibly awesome from this park. It offers a beautiful board walk beside waters and we can feel fresh ocean winds. It is very well mantained park brings soothing feeling. It offers basically ferry rides to Statue of Liberty, Ellis meuseum and Staten Island. Some people go for fishing in this park, others usually go for weekend picnics. We have attended many festivals here, like floating lantern festival then july 4th event other parties so its must visit if you are visiting NJ and want to go on ferry ride to major attractions and NY city.
Jimmy Turnmire
Literally the only one on the walkway and yes, it was quite cold that day but got to enjoy a very relaxing walk to escape from work for a short time. Being directly across the Hudson, one wouldn’t think it would be very quiet and peaceful at rush hour midweek. Love coming here anytime I’m in the area!
Alena Burava
Great park for walking, picnics, bicycling. Amazing Manhattan view at any time of the day and year.
love travel
Wonderful views on NY skyscrapers. Beautifully designed walking way. Good system of parking area.
Fatima Trindade
My husband and I took a nice walk here on the first of the year. I recommend this walk along the Hudson river, with the view of Manhattan skyline, the back of the Lady Liberty Statue is just breath taking.
K Send
Nice place to spend fun times with friends and family. The park was packed with people but still there a lot of space for more people. The only issue is there is not enough restroom around the park.
Bright Light Studios
This location is such an EPIC area for some great photos! Fair warning though, when the weather gets better its near impossible to find parking on the weekends! Take a look at some of the photos I took here for some inspiration!
Het Patel
Best place to watch new york downtown. It is a family/kid friendly place. Easy spend a day in this park
Subodh Nair
Beautiful park with picturesque views of NY skyline and the Statue of Liberty. Ferries to the statue of liberty also starts from this park. I usually prefer the liberty state park ferries over the ferries staring at Battery park since its less crowded from New Jersey. The park is also ideal for spending time with family in the multiple picnic areas around the park. There are no restaurants or food trucks, so you will need to pack your own food. There are also public grills in the picnic area if you are up for some grilling. There are also multiple walking, jogging and bike baths for recreation.
Matthew “Matty ice”
Amazing views and a feeling of inspiration my family came through Elis island for me it’s way more than a tourist spot
Along my travels some amazing art work has emerged please search out STARSHIPECLIPSE ON social media amazing art work been coming to light

Great place to have a picnic. The large knee height chess set is fun and don't forget to take a picture next to Lady liberty laying on her side
Vickie Wyman
This was my first visit to Liberty State Park and I will definitely visit again with my grandchildren. The history of Ellis Island and being so close to our Statue of Liberty was an awesome experience.
Haseeb Shahid
This park is the ideal place to get the perfect shot of the New York skyline and also get a view of the Statue of Liberty.
Emily Reviews:
We went on MLK day and all parking lots in the park were free (and rather empty). The park itself is well kept and has restrooms by each parking lot. The views were great!
I Am Lovey Legacy
My visit home would not be complete without visiting my favorite thinking spot! It could use a little TLC but that did not stop me from enjoying the amazing views and a quick nap!
Lawrence Hickmott
Parking was good. View of the Statue was decent albeit you were looking at her backside. The park was totally unkept. Kinda sad honestly
Vince Vaughn
Massive area with plenty of jogging paths and scenic points overlooking the Statue of Liberty and the World Famous NYC Skyline. Also a Marina and restaurants in the vicinity.
Clyde Lee
Dem Lee Boy's From Jersey had a ball, the Dinosaur movie was the best. As you can see it was well worth the trip
Ankush Kumar
A beautiful place on edge of jersey overlooking scenic manhattan sky line. Ample parking and nice walking path. In one trip, you can see statue of liberty, dowmtown and midtown views. Was there is November so was cold but great experience, would visit again.

I can see the Statue and the New York city from this site.
It’s a wonderful landscapes 🤩😍🥰💞
I am fall in love with here 😘💕💞

The ferry taking you to Ellis island and the statute of liberty is convenient, but the accessibility in getting out of the parking lot when you are leaving is abysmal. It took 20 minutes just for one car to get out of the gate and the ticket part where you pay operated so slow; the guy that was supposed to be there to assist walked away for like 20 minutes. The car in front of us had to get out of their vehicle to go help the guy in front pay. They should probably either have someone sitting at the toll to pay, or they should provide directions in other languages since many people that visited the park that day did not read English as a first language. The only inconvenient part about this experience was getting out of the parking lot honestly.
Lena Zhu
Great park. Lots of open space. I went in the afternoon, but I am sure that with all of the lamp posts, it’s beautiful at night. It was very peaceful and a great way to see the views and get away from regular traffic.
Yang Vang
It was a great morning walk and a beautiful NY view. Must do the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island trip.
Justin Ervin
Visited the Statue of Liberty. The park was beautiful. Get here at 8 am and you have the place to yourself.
praveen arogyaraj
Spacious parking and easy to drive to. Way better than battery park. Recommended for liberty island visit.
Gretchen Lee
Great park, spacious and clean.
Perfect for a stroll with the dogs, sweet place for pics and to watch all the ships. Can't forget you get the back side of Lady Liberty too!
Avnish Varma
A great place for picnic, bbq, kids and what not. You can easily spend a full day in the park with friends and family. New york city views are always breathtaking and gorgeous. Perfect place for taking sunset and sunrise pictures.
Mark A
beautiful old building/train station, would love it if you could schedule a tour through the building, as there's tons of history there.
Robert Gant Jr.
Great scenic destination. Probably the best location to get the whole picture.
Mayur
Great place for kids and family to stay a day in weekends! Must see pedestrians trip at Liberty 🗽 state park! …

HISTORY:-
Much of the park is situated on landfilled tidal flats that formerly supported vast oyster banks as part of the territory of the Hackensack Indians, who called the area Communipaw and used it as a summer encampment. In the seventeenth century it became part of the colonial province of New Netherland, the patroonship Pavonia. The area was known as Jan the Lacher's Hook, so called for the man who was the bowery's second superintendent, Jan Everts Bout. For many years, the village, often referred to by Washington Irving, existed where the Liberty Science Center now stands. For hundreds of years it was a ferry port for local communities of Bergen, Bergen Township, and Hudson County, as well suburban and long-distance travelers to Manhattan.
In the latter half of 19th century, a small island named Black Tom was joined via landfill with the mainland. It became a major shipping, manufacturing, and transportation hub within Port of New York and New Jersey, leading to the construction of Communipaw Terminal. It was from this ferry/train station that many immigrants arriving at Ellis Island spread out across the US. In 1916, on what is now the southeastern corner of the park, the Black Tom explosion killed as many as seven people, caused $20 million in property damage, and was felt throughout the Tri-State Region.
Construction of the North River Tunnels, containerization, and the Interstate Highway System, made the area less viable. The decline of industry, deterioration of rail and maritime infrastructure, and toxic waste, eventually made the area obsolete. Abandoned buildings and brownfields dominated the landscape after the mid-twentieth century, though there was still some manufacturing and recreational use.
Audrey Zapp, Theodore Conrad, Morris Pesin and J. Owen Grundy were influential environmentalists and historians who spearheaded the movement that led to the creation of Liberty State Park. They are remembered by the naming of places and streets along the waterfront.
It is estimated the park suffered $20 million in damages during Superstorm Sandy in October 2012. In June 2016, the Central Railroad of New Jersey Terminal reopened after a $20 million renovation to repair the extensive damage caused by Sandy. As of December 2019, the Nature Interpretive Center remains closed due to storm damage. No timeline has been given for its completion.
On January 11, 2018, it was announced by New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) that the interior 240 acres (97.1 ha) of the park that have been closed off to the public for decades due to environmental contamination would be remediated into an urban marshland and forest. The restoration is to be done in phases with the initial phase focusing on a 23 acres (9.3 ha) parcel of the interior. The marshland will be fed by a new channel connecting the Hudson River to the park's interior. There is currently no timeline yet for the remediation but the funding is to come from natural resource damage settlements. Work would begin in 2021.

Lots to see! Wonderful place to walk, rest, reflect and process so much history as well as current changes as they happen. Everything from the old train station that had been a bustling staple for so many lives, to the Open Sky Memorial, wonderful views of New York, a reminder of those who suffered for our freedom, and more. Parking was ample the day we visited and the drive on the old road that passes the Marina was a touching reminder of years gone by and the many people who have rode and walked there. Highly recommend.

Great place for morning walks. Amazing view of Downtown!

Really wide open area to enjoy a view of the city. You can see Ellis Island and the backside of the Statue of Liberty while walking along the water. Open grassy areas, picnic tables, benches, and a park for kids. Very cool place
Liza LL
Great trip for kids of all ages especially older kids around 10-12. They will better understand the history. Younger kids will enjoy the boat ride and site seeing.
Bonnie Robinson
This park offers the absolute best views of the Manhattan skyline. While here you can view the historic Central Railroad, 9/11 memorial, or take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. There is ample parking for $7. Clean restrooms are available as well as water fountains.
Delena Williams
Great place to take the family, beautiful park. Visitors from all over the world come to visit The Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island. Great view of NY.
Amy Eastburn-Escobar
Nice park with amazing views of Manhattan. We normally park here and either use the water taxi or the ferry to the Statue of Liberty 🗽. Unfortunately right now the ⛴️ ferry to the Statue isn't running again until March and the water taxi doesn't run on weekends. Great park to get pictures and normally makes it easier to get into NYC without driving.
Pierre Guerrero
INCREDIBLE VIEWS NIGHT AND DAY such a cool place to see the Statue of Liberty and surrounding New York!!!
Bailey Perkins
Beautiful photo op. You can see the city from here and the statue of liberty (back side). Nice place to visit if you're in the area!
D Norman

Neil Sharma
It’s a piece of history ! Loved the old run down train station and the 911 memorial. You get a feet from here to Statute of liberty.
Huge space to walk and see the NYC skyline
Elizabeth Dawes
We took the ferry from here to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. So much less crowded than Battery park.
JEFF KLEFFMAN
Great park to visit via ferry from NY or NJ.
Karel Kvita
Liberty State Park (LSP) is a park in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located on Upper New York Bay in Jersey City, opposite both Liberty Island and Ellis Island. The park opened in 1976 to coincide with bicentennial celebrations[1] and is operated and maintained by the New Jersey Division of Parks and Forestry. Liberty State Park covers 1,212 acres (490 ha). The main part of the park is bordered by water on three sides: on the north by the Morris Canal Big Basin and on the south and east by Upper New York Bay. The New Jersey Turnpike Newark Bay Extension (I-78) marks its western perimeter.
Sanjay Kundu
Amazing 4th July fireworks experience from the park. It's a must visit.
Ryan Kintz
The views were amazing. Certainly impressed. Just wish we had more information on what was open or closed. We did our research and was a little surprised at how little we got to explore. Get to the island earlier than you think you want to. Things start closing up soon near the end of the day. It also takes time to process prior to the ferry. Give yourself more time to experience all the attractions.
Amber Kempton
My nephew was very excited to see the Statue of Liberty 🗽
Cool experience, I recommend pay the extra 30cent for pedestal tickets. The park portion was nice too very open if you just want a green place to visit. …
Gilma M.
Me, my husband and his family really enjoyed ourselves! We took the Statue of Liberty cruise then had a picnic at the park. It was a beautiful day and night weather wise. We also rented City bikes and rode around enjoying the view.
Nabeela Saleem
A favorite spot for my family and I and especially during the pandemic. It's a nice wide open space for kids to run around and play. The view is beautiful. And watching the sunset and all the lights of NYC turn on. It's a beautiful view. Great place to take a walk as well. You have a decent view of the Statue of Liberty. Definitely a great place for a day trip. We love to pack up some food and have a little picnic. So far we haven't had any issues with parking. But it probably varies from day to day. For us it's usually a "I'm bored. Let's go" kinda place.
Verónica Carrera del Río
Beautifiul park. Great for running or picnics. Amazing view of NY skylane, Statue of Liberty and Elis Island.
Deez Nutts
Awesome place with a bunch to do. Dog friendly and there usually ice cream trucks in the summer. 9/11 memorial was nice and the views of the city are breathtaking. It’s the back side Lady liberty if

Favorite place for all who lived in near by area ,beautiful and spectacular skyline view from liberty state park
Enjoy sunrise and sunset here
This place is for picnics ,gathering , birthday party and kids playground .
Yana Diukarieva
One of my favorite parks. Amazing views.
Abhishek Prabhu
Run and bike in and around this park. It's much quieter than other parks as it's spread out. The kids playground is great and there are ample picnic benches around. The board walk offers great views of the NYC and JC skyline. Beautiful in any weather. The only restroom I know of in the park is by the train station by the parking lot on the far east side of the park.
Rahul B
The train station CRRNJ, the empty platforms, the immigrant waiting room , the old train coach , the Manhattan skyline and the beautiful expanse of greenery - a first hand experience of what the immigrants saw those days - a historical place .
Kolorowe Kadry
The best place to take a Photo of Manhattan panorama. Amazing.
Stephen
Decent park with a view of the back side of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The bridge to Ellis Island is not open to the public for vehicle or foot traffic. Nice walkway along the waterfront. Bathrooms are at the center near the playground.
Jose Axuteco
Great place to have a walk with one of the best views you'll ever find!
Sherri Jorge
Liberty State Park was our first stop on our road trip this year! It was misting when we got there, but once the sky cleared up some it was beautiful! Loved seeing the NY City skyline from this park and the Statue of Liberty!
Monica Suliman
Parking is free which is very good after the long drive with traffic.
The walk to the promenade is delightful and enlightening when you get to the end.
Unfortunately, you only get to see the statue from the back.
We were there at night time when the view of NYC is breathtaking.
But someone should be responsible for the care of the restrooms which are an embarrassment specially since they are located in front of a big amount of enormous American flags.
Dean Clough
Gorgeous views and a very moving 9/11 Memorial.
bharath somashekar
Best place for walks, biking and picnic in the Jersey City area. Very long boardwalk with spectacular views.
Can see Statue of Liberty(backside), from a very short distance.
Angel Harwick
Great experience. We booked our visit online before we headed to NYC. Definitely worth the visit.
George Horvath
Liberty State Park... That's the perfect name for this place! It's a park in the state of New Jersey, born in honor to the statue which was dedicated in celebration to the idea of freedom of individuality of ones own thoughts, choices, and freedom of movement. All that this land of liberty has gifted us!
It'd be nice if they fix the potholes leading in to the place. Welcome to New Jersey, I guess...
Tracey Taylor
Lovely Halloween trip! Beautiful landscape; great outdoor place for pets + picnic. Plenty of parking, tables, chairs and sidewalk, right along the water. If I only had a boat...
Portapotties are ample, but could be better.
Otherwise, 5 stars! 🎃🇺🇸
Daniel Dilallo
Just beautiful!! Highly recommend checking this place out just gorgeous.
Chinmay Jain
Can't go wrong ever with Liberty state park, whether it's first time or nth time any time, any season. Breath taking views, sprawling lawns, Play area for little kids, bike and running tracks for everyone, or quiet spots just to lye down.
Chidananda Reddy
The place dated, but hey you have free parking. No complaints.
Tarun Pinto Pereira
Really great open space. Parking Lot 7 is the best for access to the picnic area and the playgrounds. The playgrounds are quite big, so your kids will have fun. Most lots get full quickly, but there is a high turnover of vehicles, so if u are patient, you'll get a spot.
Leslie Bowden Smith
Beautiful at night!!🎇 Its Good to go earlier in the day light.. …
Carm Mom
Beautiful park. Lots of space. Free parking. No wind cover. My kids thought they just wanted to “see” the statue. The park gives a side/back view and it just doesn’t do it justice. Even if you don’t go up. Go to the island.
But this is a lovely stop for a run around and a picnic when it’s not windy or wet or too sunny.
Swaminathan R
Nice place for childrens to play and enjoy weather, it has sea view, New york View, Jersey city view & childrens play area. vast place to play.
E Sayed
This place is so much fun!
There is a huge parking space for at least 200 cars.
The ramp here is built on top of the water from where you can easily spot the Statue of Liberty.
The weather is usually nice until it starts to rain heavily that gets everything bad.
They usually have festivals in summer for which you’d need a reservation prior to the arrival (usually online and freee!)
Anthony Marchitelli
What a nice and clean park with Great Views of Manhattan skyline absolutely breathing, and nice views of Ellis Island too. There's also great vies of the Statue of Liberty but it's of her back you will have to take a ride on the Staten Island Ferry to see her face...lol .
Ackeme Brown
First time both me and my wife we loved it
Kazim Fouq
Statue of Liberty is the most famous place of USA especially of New York you will enjoy the cruise on your way to liberty.
Michael E
Huge massive park with amazing views of NYC skyline and Statue of Liberty. Lots of grass areas and walking trails as well as a very long waterfront walking and biking area. Plenty of space to fly kites, play ball games, fish, etc. Lots of police presence around the ferry to the statue. No drones, alcohol or smoking allowed in park, FYI.
Jennfer Cruz
Been going here as long as I can remember. We ride bikes, have picnics, walk, and fly kites. We tent to end up here when the weather is nice. The park is clean and has constant police patrol. View is beautiful night and day.
Kenneth Hines, Jr. (Professor Hines)
As long as I've visited or lived in New York I've never once visited Liberty Park, but I finally had the chance to do so in April.
What a beautiful park this is and wonderful memorial, in memory of the lives lost on September 11th. It's a great place to visit if you're wanting to get out and enjoy some time outside and just gaze at the beautiful scenic vistas, of the Manhattan Skyline, or simply just wanting to spend a day on the grass laying out. It's plenty big here and during my visit it was not crowded at all.
For photographers you'll enjoy the view you can obtain here of lower Manhattan and even leading up towards Midtown Manhattan. If you want that signature image of gold tones falling upon the buildings, especially the One World Trade Center at sunset, then this view will be one that you appreciate. I feel it's a place you at least have to visit once, as it's a beautiful place to see and a spot in New Jersey that's worth seeing!
Rigoberto Carbajal Lobo
I loved this place! I hope to come back soon.
Danny Mcguiness
Really cool mix of people, lots of bbq and people cooking, really nice view of skyline and super close to lady liberty, parking was not bad, great family fun! I plan on doing some grilling myself!
Paul Deanne
Awe inspiring is all I can say it's a must see if you are in New York.
If you are not local and take a car service it was difficult to get to the ferry dock. I would suggest calling to get an exact address for drop off. We had to walk almost 2 miles from where our driver dropped us off but it was so worth it
Tara Wirkuty
My first trip to the east coast and I loved it! What amazing history that you may not know until you arrive. A great experience!
Nils Paellmann
For the best views of NYC and the Statue of Liberty visit Liberty State Park. Perfect for biking. Don't miss the nature center by architect Michael Graves.
Stephen Murphy
Great place for a bit of history and shots of the city, day and night. Free parking too.
Abdullah Al Jaber
The park is nice and big. There is a playground for kids too. Also the view of Manhattan is excellent. A good place for walking or cycling.
José Jiménez
Remodeled and gorgeous. Great views of manhattan and liberty Island
Kristin Macdonald
Great views of the New York skyline and Jersey City from the park. The Empty Sky Memorial is beautiful to walk through. Took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. Very few crowds and quick security to get on the ferry.
Tega Umukoro
Departing point to ELIS & LIBERTY ISLANDS 🏝 . The old train station was fascinating! Spent time just walking through the old train terminal before boarding the ferry ⛴️ to the islands. …
Heather Brooke-Ryan
Such a beautiful location! Would highly recommend. There is a 9/11 memorial still under a bit of construction, but it’s very powerful and inspiring.
Daniel Rodriguez
Nice park with wonderful views of the New York City skyline. Nice point from which to get to the Statue of liberty and the Ellis Island National historic sites; access to these sites is less crowded then from the New York City site lots of parking. Lots of open space for picnicking, kite flying, kicking a ball, walking, jogging and biking. Near enough to downtown Jersey City, by car or bike, to enjoy the many restaurants in the area.
There is wild life to observe in the park also, lots of ducks, geese, rabbits, robins, egrets, an occasional skunk and opposom.
This morning before 6 am I saw two deer crossing the cobble stone road on the northern end of this urban park.
Ryan Fernandez
Nice views, working bathrooms. Lots to see along the boardwalk.
FranklinLiranzo
Such a beautiful, peaceful, family and pet friendly place this is. It also holds some historic and modern structures: large with plenty parking spots, clean restrooms and gorgeous views on lower Manhattan!
Terina
Beautiful scenery. Bathrooms available. Plenty of parking
Esmirna Rodriguez
Wow!! A hidden jewel in the middle of the city. This park has everything: place for kids to play, for picnic, bbq, run, biking, bike rental, and plenty of parking. The view is the cherry on the top. Great place, will return frequently
Olaf Christiansen
Great view on Manhattan, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty! 👍 …
B J
I was there 9-11-22 to see the lights where the twin towers stood it was raining & cloudy. I would've given 5 stars if I seen all during the day. I'm impressed with the 2 walls. I was there 21 years ago as a volunteer firefighter my father worked in tower 2 for years & having family in FDNY. God Bless all !!!
Kimberly Beahm
Such an important place- to remember we grieve as a nation..we heal with each other ..and we rise up! Never forget!
So greatful for such a beautiful day to reflect on our nation's strength&fragility.
Jamie Rea
Such a peaceful place to visit and roam around.

If in jersey, stop by liberty state park in jersey city. You get great views of the NYC skyline and from the Statue of Liberty. Parking is free in the park. You can catch a ferry from here to Ellis Island. Park is clean and you are very close to liberty science center (great place for kids to learn) and to downtown jersey city (great bars and restaurants).
Balu P
Best place to spend time with loved ones with beautiful view of NYC sky line
Rachel Newquist
There is a lot to see and do. It is very hot and humid, shade is difficult to find, so bring an umbrella. 9/11 memorial is here. Great view of NYC
Luhily
This park is huge. The playground on parking 7 is decent size. There's also a bathroom nearby so you don't got to worry. Plenty of open table. I saw a few grill conviently placed. Very clean park. You can also walk down the boardwalk to enjoy the NY skyline. The nature center is closed due to covid. Hopefully it will open again soon
Michael Wolfe
Many cultural events here and a nice place to picnic.
Michaella Bowler
Really iconic and nice place to go. It's a great park to go with your family. There are usually ducks around, even when it's super cold! But we loved it so much. It was a gloomy snowy day, and it cheered us up being here in the fresh air. I do recommend getting really warm clothes because it's really cold especially during the snowiest season of the century!
Nicholas Hoffman (Pixelproductions100)
Very clean park, large for many events and good to walk in. Family friendly and pet friendly. Can see the statue of liberty from the park (back side) and can walk to Ellis Island from the park. Plenty of parking spaces available (Free Parking).
Shane
Awesome views of downtown Manhattan, free entry when I went in late Nov.
Sean Campbell
Awesome park and best place to park your vehicle if you are going to see Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island. I recommend both. If you are going to visit NewYork I recommend parking here and taking the ferry. You will save about $60 in bridge fees and parking fees.
Mona
Such a nice escape away from the city with gorgeous views of the NY skyline and Statue of Liberty
Elizabeth
Very nice park. Paid and free parking. We found free parking on both sides and in the middle where the kids playground is.
We had a picnic near the playground. Seemed to be a lot of picnic tables available in this area and the side near the statue of liberty.
You can see a very nice view of NYC from the harbor near the railway station and 9/11 memorial. Plenty if walking and trails.
Heli Mistry
Pretty place! You can see the full skyline of new York and its a huge park. Lot of space for cycling, can bring your dog there and definitely enough space to play! There fishing is also allowed so can do that activity! Other can do is kite flying and it is a drone free zone. Can cycle and there are benches to sit and chill.
There is also space to do barbecue, you just have to bring your own stuff. U can also find citi bike near the park. A lot of car parking space too.
There are 2-3 attractions like the empty sky and even sleeping Statue of Liberty
Rajashekhar Pesaladinne
Most beautiful state park in NJ. There are many places across the 6-mile stretch alongside water front and other places to see the NYC breathtaking downtown view. Good place for families to spend time with their friends and kids especially during summers for barbecue parties. There’s a play area for kids and vast area to just roll around. Must visit 👌🏽
Chanchal
An amazing view of skyline of New York City skyscrapers and wonderful look of Statue of Liberty from the park. Well maintained park with good parking space and park benches, picnic areas. Love spending evening here, clicking pictures and enjoyed nice weather with Hudson river scenic views.
Linda Ross
The perfect place to catch the ferry to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty. The line moved quickly at each pickup spot. The line for pickup using the ferries that started at Battery Park were always much, much longer, like 5 times longer.
Sam NYC
Nice place to hang out with a beautiful skyline view of NYC.
Ashlei Patterson
Great views of Statie of Liberty and NYC skyline.
Gabe Kohnke
Nice view of the statue of liberty and the cities
Kyle Hartmann
Came here on 9/11 and wasn’t disappointed. The best views of New York are from New Jersey, and this is the epitome of that statement. Lady Liberty, Ellis Island, the Battery and downtown, South Street Seaport, all within an arm’s reach from Liberty State Park. It is the point of embarkation for Liberty and Ellis Islands as well, and during the pandemic, the car park was free. I rode my bike along the water, and that was really nice and would recommend to any cyclists serious or not. I came at a good time, because once A Tribute in Lights shone across the river, the queue to enter the park was so long. I will definitely return here, perhaps when it’s a little less crowded, but visiting on 9/11 it makes sense. There is a touching memorial called Empty Sky, which honours those from Jersey City and surrounding areas who passed in the attacks, with their names on the walls which frames where the Towers would have stood. Many irreverent folk visiting, but also many who were there remembering their loved ones lost 19 years ago, lest we forget.
J Williams
Best way to spend time in NJ. What an amazing experience seeing the statue of liberty so close, Manhattan, Jersey City, and Brooklyn. The 9/11 memorial is worth stopping for. We missed the train station due to being closed for Covid.
Marcio Risso
It's big, nice and well maintained Park located just in front of Manhatan Financial District (at the other side of Hudson River). The main attraction in the Park is the tribute do 9/11 World Trade Center, with an monument which represents the two towers. The view of New York Skyline and Liberty Statue from the Park is amazing and may provide great pictures.
Subhor Verma
Park is nice with long trails to walk with un-obstructed views of manhattan and Liberty. I visited this park in 1st week of April and cherry blossoms were on their peak.
You will see lot of people skateboarding, biking, running etc. It’s a kind of place where you can bring your kids without worrying about safety.
Glory Cone
A must see. Get there early or else it is very crowded!

The ongoing pandemic has definitely taken a toll on a lot of businesses and public places since a consumer’s mindset to buy anything outside of essentials or to visit a public place like a park or beach, has crippled down significantly. Now by living with what has become the new normal, it is commendable on how these businesses and public places continue to remain open and cater to the general public by following the safety standards. It is now all the more important that we as customers, support these heroes during these dark hours to mankind.
This place is a pride of NJ and if you are a NJ resident or visiting NJ, don’t miss out on visiting this splendor of a place. The park has plenty of parking space and finding a spot won’t be difficult at all. We usually park at lot # 7 that takes us to the center of the stretch.
The iconic Lady might be showing her back to you but embraces people from all walks of life, age, community and color, with open arms. You would find people talking a walk, jog, bike on the well laid roads next to the Hudson River or play ball and picnic on the sprawling green lawns that face the skyline.
If you walk towards the Hoboken end, you will walk past the Empty Sky memorial erected for the precious NJ lives lost on the dreadful day of 9/11. Keep walking and you will get a closer look of the Downtown Manhattan skyline.
Travel tip- Plan your visit in the evening times before sunset as you will get to experience the pristine beauty of the iconic Statue of Liberty and the NY skyline view transform to lights under the dark sky.
Kim Bagwell
Beautiful park.. watch out for the big bucks!!!
Arushi
Always a great place for outdoor pinic, day out and bike ride.
We it love chilling and spend time biking there. Its so peaceful and perfect for social distance.
Midhun Baby
Great park for running/cycling or for a picnic. Great views of downtown new york city and statue of liberty. Free and paid parking available. There is a playground section for kids. It's gonna be a little colder since it's closer to water.
Chelsa Pichardo
Crowded but even the crowds were avoidable. Loved the views. Having a camera, bike, scooter, blankets, or even a kite is a must. I had a great time.
Renel Jolly
peaceful place with plenty of private areas. great views of the city. A nice place to bring your small or large dog for some excersize.
Mukta Singh
A beautiful landscape with historical value. The CRRnj is the most picturesque place. For pre- wedding shoot or a romantic photos. It is beautiful place. Outdoor picnic with kids and family is also option.
Y Johnson
They are still building here, but what I saw was nice.
John Cam
Really nice place, parking available. Good view of NYC and Jersey City. Unfortunately cruises are not working even if they say that they are on the phone.
Shannon R
Very nice state park! Wonderful views of the Manhattan skyline. Beautiful tree lined walkways with wonderful views! Very nice and large playground which is really great for children to let out some energy and run around having fun! Public restrooms nearby. Truly a great place to stop at if you are in the area, or even to visit before/after a trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Great views of both of those monuments as well here. Truly a lovely place!
Quinette Johnson-Serrano
All time favorite local park

Beautiful park with a lot of parking space which gets pretty crowded on weekends. Great for running, cycling or strolling. There are lot of benches with a magnificent view. A perfect place to hangout with friends or family.
Puja Eklabya
Beautiful park with nature, birds, awesome view of manhattan and liberty.
It has it all. It has never failed to amuse me.
Must go!!
Justin Earnest
Really enjoyed large park that had great views of Ellis island and the statue of liberty. I personally enjoyed looking at the old train station which was at the park.
Chirag Nakrani
One of the best park in NJ! Highly recommend. Must visit place in your NYC/NJ trip. Best view of NYC downtown and pretty much entire skyline of NYC. Park has ample amount of parking space and wide open area for family or group picnic.
Krishan Kumar Aishpunani
New York view was amazing we enjoyed our vacation there in 2010. it is great park for having a picnic, walking around. If you are looking for a long walk to clear your mind and spirit, this is the place to go.
It has public bathrooms and water fountains. there was the way to Statue through small ships. night view is also good.
Wonderful views of the Manhattan skyline. Beautiful tree lined walkways with wonderful views! Very nice and big playground area , really great for children. overall 5 star.
Credible Critic
Large state park with lots of green space to accommodate all kinds of activities from picnicking to walking to biking or just simply sitting around to enjoy the view of the water.
The walking/biking path along the river would give the best view of Manhattan skyline. The ample green would give everyone his own space for a picnic or a quick lunch.
Parking is free, or just for a minimal fee. Shuttles for Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty leave from here.
A good park for all to take in some fresh air in the mix of the city concrete....
Lucy Ruderman
Great spot to view the Manhattan skyline. Plenty of parking and lots of bathrooms. If you’re driving to the city, it is quite a detour, though.
Kumaran Ahilan
Great place to view the Newyork city skyline. The state park is an excellent weekend getaway with your family and friends . You can enjoy the views of Newyork and New Jersey. Obviously it is the boarding point for the ferries to the Statue of Liberty from the jersey side. On a clear day you ll get a great view of the Ellis island and the stair of Liberty.
Nilmadhav Mishra
This is a nice place to spend time during afternoon. This place is more popular because from this place ferries are operated which takes people to Status of Liberty and then next to Battery Park in NY. Still good place for photography and also boating facilities available.
Harish Reddy
After stopping at the Empty Sky Memorial, decided to explore more of the park. Am already looking forward to a return visit. There is a comfortable walkway that overlooks the harbor and Statue of Liberty. The walkway extents from the Empty Sky Memorial at the north end of the park - all the way to the southern end by the Liberation Monument. There are areas along the way for bird watching and great views of the NYC skyline. Well worth the visit. Looking forward to return visits.
Sheila Silva
Very interesting too many stories.
Jonathan Cheng
Beautiful park, amazing views of the city, statue of liberty, ellis island. Well maintained. And amazing cherry blossoms in the spring!
Kevin Umanzor
I love this park. In my opinion it's the best park in the world for is view of the New York City skyline and the Statue of Liberty and also the Brooklyn Bridge. The pictures that can be taken here are breathless. The best time to take pictures are sunset, that's when the sun refects off of the buildings and gives them a glow. Would recommend this park to anyone. It's great for families.
Eli
Beautiful scenery for family and friends to hang out, in a socially distant way, and enjoy life! Lovely photo spot. City views. Walk on a bridge. Views of Ellis Island and Lady Liberty, Views of lush park lawn for as far as the eye can see. Dog friendly. The toilets get a little disgusting but there was plenty of toilet paper and soap. The free parking fills up fast and then they have paid parking for $5 (I think, I wasn't the one paying). Went on a Sunday afternoon and didn't leave until dusk. Highly recommend!
veronica franza
BEAUTIFUL park . So many great sights from every side of the park . My family and I have rode rides , had picnics and even started to BBQ again . Great for adults and children .So much space for everyone , lots of parking . Hands down a breath taking park . Thanks to all the people who care and maintain this beautiful park.
Robert M. Longo, AIA
Beautiful State Park with excellent views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and New York City. There is no better place to view the lower Manhattan Skyline. Fee for parking over 2 hours. Great place to ride a bike.
saleem saheb Shaik
Nice view to New York city. Nice open space to hangout with family. Nicely maintained track for running or jogging.
Abundant seats to relax and most importantly fresh air.
Would definitely recommend as a nice picnic spot.
I have seen people using fishing poles can check on that if it's the case it's a good spot to fish too.
Dawn Carr
Beautiful views of the NYC skyline, Ellis Island, and the statue of liberty. Great place to run with my dog. The only complaint I have is how dirty it seemed with trash and animal poop.
Dinara G
Great place for a walk. Statue of liberty is at the closest distance on the land .
There is a playground for kids, Manhattan view.
There are bathrooms in the building.
Very neat and clean
Robin Jade
This is a very nice park for relaxing. Beautiful view of Manhattan and Statue of Liberty. A playground for the kids. Some BBQ grills and tables. Restroom on the spot. Lots of parking space. Closed to ferries to statue of liberty and liberty science museum.
Hoa Duong
Huge park more than enough space for any outdoor activities whilst social distancing. Free and clean bathroom. There is an area for family picnic and children playground. You can see Manhattan skyscrapers from the walkway as well as the back of the Liberty statue
Clyde D'souza
Very nice place to have a quick run or walk; beautiful view of New York City from this Park.
Sunil Puntambekar
Perfect view of the Manhattan skyline.
Stone Playground
This park offers great views of lower Manhattan and Miss Liberty, ferry rides, open fields, kids parks, hiking paths, botanical grounds and some nice monuments and statues. Great place for picnics, exercise or sightseeing. Below are some photos I've taken within the last few years.
Asta Umbrasaite
Let me start by saying - it's windy there!! Be ready for an extra cold day and do wrap up. Would not be able to tell the difference if it was any better in the warm season but as we visited in November- wow.. it was the cold I do not miss..
Use the audio guide in order to know more history and help you to appreciate the story.
It guides to where to start and where to stop, what to look out for. Really really well put guide.
Shops vary a bit though the park but if you want something I should be the last person to tell you - just go for it.
Be aware of the wind and other people taking pictures.
Stop by in cafe for a brunch of quick lunch. Don't forget to check out the new Museum!!
Enjoy and.. think of what Liberty means to you once you are there..
Mohak Vashi
HUGE...!Phenomenal Park...Lots of walking trails, activities, and of course the BEST views of NY!There is Sufficient free parking also available.
This is one of the best places for viewing the New York City skyline. The place is well maintained. If you are not doing the ferry trip, then I guess it would be easier parking close to Black Tom island. The are plenty of spots to click photos. Rest rooms are available too. You get a view of the back of the statue of liberty from the park. The NYC skyline view is unbeatable though. Definitely recommend this place.
Shane Robbins
First time seeing the Statue of Liberty. Had my Dog with me so I could take a ferry and dogs aren't allowed on Ellis Island. Closest place for me was Liberty State Park. The park was real nice and the views where awesome. Highly recommend especially if you have a pet and want to see the statue with them as well. Took some pretty cool photos too!
The Great Artiste
Fantastic views of the harbor, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and especially Manhattan. Memorials for 9/11, etc. Historic Landmark Central New York Train/Ferry Terminal building. Now restored and in use for the statue of Liberty ferry. It can get really windy at times, so dress accordingly. Parking is free but it fills up quickly. Get there early.

There is nothing more to say except this park is incredible. Want to take a jog? Run along the waterfront path with breath taking views of the city. Want to go somewhere with the kids? There is a playground for children with neat bathrooms close by. Want to just waste time with good views and relaxation? This park is the place. Everywhere you look you have beautiful views.
The ferry to view the statute of liberty is close by, but packed with long lines. Strongly recommend you pre purchase tickets ahead of time to beat the long wait.
Has a nice small train rail which is wonderful for pictures and a very nice and emotional WTC tribute which you can walk through and then leads you right to the river front with awesome views of midtown.
We took the water taxi right into NYC which was a very nice experience. Took some time to explore NYC and after a few hours we went back to the water taxi to head back to liberty state park to go home. We spent the entire day there and we left extremely happy. Strongly suggest this park to anyone.

A wonderful place to walk with fantastic views.
They almost look surreal of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. We found a path from behind the science centre and walked 15 minutes along the park edge but you can drive into the car park close to the views and walk too.
A definite must, freedom and all that fresh air we loved with the amazing scenery.

It is impossible for someone living in North jersey to not know or love this place. It offers view of the city from downtown to up close and personal view of statue of liberty. I love going to here to see the moon rise behind statue of liberty, seeing the rising sun behind it.
Just a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the sunset or sunrise over NYC.

Love this place, how close you are to the Statue of Liberty... First time here during a Water Lantern Festival, so nice & organized so well !! What an amazing experience. Looking forward to visiting next Summer to enjoy the view, lay on the grass & relax...

Amazing and historical place!
I had come to NY before but indoor to catch such a breath taking view of the city from NJ side, like I did from LSP.
The 9-11 memorial, next to the freedom war memorial.
A symbol of the role of men and women that have given their life protecting and preserving freedom and the oppressed.
The view is fantastic: all states and territories flags, Statue of Liberty@Ellis Island, City of NY skyline and harbor. A+++

A lot of history here... The ferry terminal took passengers to Manhattan and Brooklyn while the train station took passengers west.... usually the drop off point for arriving immigrants from Ellis Island... BTW, the clock was running and on time....

This place is perfect for outdoor activities, has jogging/walking trails, bike trails, free and paid car parking areas. This place is very family and kid friendly, it has a children’s play area picnic tables, clean toilets and much more. Ample space for fishing, kite-flying, picnics and outdoor gathering. I also prefer to simply lie down under the shade and enjoy the magnificent view of the NYC skyline. I am a regular visitor to this place.
Praswin Prakash
This is one of the best places for viewing the New York City skyline. The place is well maintained. There is plenty of parking available.
Glaydz Prezzz
So much easier and less ppl than had we went to battery park. Make time to buy ticket and pass security or you'll have to wait for next ferry. Quiet beautiful city landscape views, park is beautiful picnic place. Kids friendly. Restaurants look upscale. Ferry&restaurant parking is $7.
Racheal Peoples
I loved this place! I was so excited to be able to get to this park and enjoy the scenery. Next time I'll definitely visit the Statue of Liberty itself, but you were able to get a good view even with the clouds, we went the day after a bad storm and the fog was ridiculous! Clean park and a good place to walk along the water. Definitely good to bring kids her or even pets.
Juliana Arcila Gaviria
Amazing place to enjoy your day, with your family, friends or couple, this place have a beautiful view to New York and Liberty 🗽 statue, you can make a picnic, this place have a zone with grills, play zone for the children and also you can exercise!!!
We love the view and enjoy this place!!!
Akshay Nair
Best view of the NYC skyline, decent view of the statue of liberty.. big park for picnic, games.
There are paid or free parking spots.
piggylovesdragon
It gets a 5 star just for free parking! Great place to relax and walk around. You can easily walk ( about a mile) to liberty ferry and for $7 a person go to lower Manhattan in 12 mins! Can't beat that!

Lovely place. Very spacious. Many slides and play park for kids. Nice picnic spot for family outing. Very scenic and beautiful for nature and photography lovers. Wonderful place for sport and health conscious people.
Isaac M
We loved this trip! Plan to bring water and small snacks for the kids. Security is tight but rightfully so. The ferry boat does a great ride around for pictures so plan to be in the side when you boardcoven when leaving the island. It gets crowded so it can be difficult getting a window seat.

If some day you visit New Jersey, please visit this place, you can learn about the United States history and at the same time enjoy such as wonderful view of Manhattan.
Vincent Tchong
Fantastic location for a one-way, 1.5 mile walk/run. Beautiful scenery of Jersey City, Lower Manhattan, Ellis Island, and the Statute of Liberty. Come during sunset to get the view of the NYC skyline.
Dominyka Stockunaite
The only bad thing about this park is that it’s location is awkward. (Personal Opinion) Other than that it’s a huge park. You get the skyline of NYC. There is a Twin Tower memorial called Empty Sky. The historic terminal is also very cool as a tourist to visit. You can purchase tours that take you on a ferry to Ellis Island and then Liberty Island and back. It’s less than 20 dollars per person. Very educational. I find that pleasant. I bet in the summer picnics would be nice. I used to come rollerblading with the whole family as a kid here. The liberty science center is near by as well. Perfect place to go with kids.
Soumyajyoti Bunty
This huge park is perfect for hangout, picnic, cycling, walking and many others activity. If bit of a history of ellis island and Central Railroad of new Jersey terminal are not able amaze you then the breath taking view and cool breeze would definitely do so.. For sure its a must go place..
Yogi Amin
Very historic place. Rich, full of history and information. Amazing view to Freedom tower and downtown Manhattan. Wall with names of who died in September 11 attack. Great way to tribute and never forget.
Huge Park with beautiful views from any angle to any direction. Biking and jogging trail. Public restrooms. Food truck on site for some fast food.
Take your family or visitors there and they will have a fun day. Thanks for reading.

Visited the day after the huge hurricane-like storm so it was a beautiful, sunny day.
The nature walk (my primary reason to visit) is quite unkempt and overgrown. I didn't even make it 1/4 of the way through as it was akin to walking through an overgrown and forgotten yard. Disappointing. I walked over a large downed tree branch that was yet to be removed, but the rampant growth encroaching the path had nothing to do with the storm and was not pleasant.
Luckily, before I found my way to the nature path, I walked the other part of the park first to check out shore birds. Lucked into seeing that the two oystercatchers were still there. Also got some nice birding done on the small wooden bridge by the golf course.
Some trails blocked in consideration of the nesting migratory birds, but the riverwalk and other shoreline public walkways were open with great views of Lady Liberty.
Bharathirajan Damodaran
Nice place to visit. Followed the sign to park the car for $7 (whole day I think) and purchased ticket for Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island ferry. Need to walk for few steps to get ticket and undergo security check before taking ferry. They do serious security check like airports and ssn Office. All are friendly. We enjoyed. Ticket discounts for seniors (adults $18.5, seniors $14 and kids $9. $4 for audio tour already included in the ticket.. utilize.

If you go to the parking lot by the water and follow the road it will take you to a secluded area of the park and towards the houses. It’s very peaceful good for social distancing and breathtaking views
Sasha G
Love this beautiful park.
Great for exercise, picnicking, or strolling with views of Manhattan. Truly a gem.
Prasad Nangre
It is a great place to hangout, see the iconic New York skyline. I would recommend to pick a clear day to visit this place as it has amazing views to offer and some awesome photos can be clicked.
Sohail Chaudhry
Excellent view of lower and mid Manhattan along with Jersey City's skyline up close. Great for picture-taking and indeed many wedding type shoots happening when I visited. Saw quite a few people on bikes, running and a dry dock for boats as well. Pretty chill spot.
Pruthvi Raj
For me, the experience has been really great! Beautiful park with acres of space, ideal for friends or family to hangout or a walk. NYC downtown is seen constantly throughout the riverside of the park. It’s a must visit!
Jim Wagner
Specially speaking of the Empty Sky Memorial. Such a tragedy. However, the park and the memorial are well done. The only issue I have is that there were many lights along the wall (embedded in the walkway) that were burned out. This is unacceptable and the maintenance department in charge of light replacement is slacking greatly. It is disrespectful to those honored in the memorial. Whomever is in charge needs to fix this immediately.
Rupesh Tiwari
This place is very nice to visit statue of liberty if u r coming from NJ. Parking for 2 hours free but for whole day parking you need to take paid parking we chose whole day parking and paid $7. Before going into Cruise there will be security check exactly like in airport. You have to empty stroller fold it and pass through security. Open valley belt mobile baggel etc.
Will Tutt
A truly beautiful place to go. Took some lovely pictures (including one with my knee in it because why not?) If my house wasn't 3500 miles away, I'd probably visit here more often.
Beverly Hendricks
Surprisingly nice place to visit with beautiful views of Manhattan, particularly the World Trade Center/financial district. Location of a memorial honoring those from NJ who lost their lives on 9/11. It has a nice railroad terminal museum and boat access to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Also, Water Taxi service is available to near the Colgate Clock and a few other places. The Liberty Science Center is located in the NW corner of the park.
Ken and Alicia Lund
It seems like this place is better known by locals than by tourists. This is one of the best places in the area to view the New York skyline, the Statue of Liberty (albeit her back), Ellis Island, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Brooklyn, and the Jersey City skyline. There is a pleasant promenade. I spent many hours here because the views were just so fantastic. Wonderful place to visit.
Jose Azcona
Best views of the Freedom Tower you will get from NJ and the city skyline. The park is a bit difficult to find if going for the first time. Parking is available for $7 to visit the Statute of Liberty or to go for a bike ride; bikes are available to rent with c.c only. Free parking is also available for two hours. A clean and safe place to visit with the kids and family.
matthew perry
Beautiful sights and a really nice plaza with a good sense of history and a nice stop for anyone in the NYC area. Can't recommend it enough for pictures

Beautiful skyline view. Quiet and peaceful place to remembrance 9/11. ❤️ 🇺🇸 …

It was a second time on the island and I would repeat it a couple of times, always nice to get more knowledge along with entertainment, even very good service for the elderly and people with some type of disability, ask the guards for wheelchairs, the staff of miss liberty NJ, they were more than kind, you can eat some snacks on the ferry and on the Island souvenirs and fast food cafeteria of course, if you want to go to the pedestal of the Statue, you have to ask for your appointment almost a month before and buy your ticket , the price 24 adults, 18 seniors, 12 children before 12, don't miss it, it's worth it
Gabriella Bugge
Great playground with lots of open fields around to make it large enough for the surrounding population. Good view of the Statue of Liberty, the New York skyline, and Ellis Island. Fascinating monuments and historical bits of New Jersey allows for this park to provide entertainment for nearly anyone of all ages and capabilities!
Sona
Always loved visiting this big amazing park.. However during my recent visit, I felt the park was not as well maintained as it used to be..Still a good place to take a look at the Statue of Liberty..take ferry..walk around the place..Have a little picnic with your family..Look at the amazing view of the New York skylines... Overall lots of pros than cons

Fleet week gets a standing ovation from us! It was an informational and eye opening experience. All of the soldiers were welcoming, knowledgeable, and professional. Thank you for your service.🇺🇲 Also, a thank you to the community and law enforcement for keeping the environment enjoyable and safe. …
Davis D. Janowski
Pepper and I had Lady Liberty all to our selves last Saturday. Still no tour boats because of the pandemic. Normally one of the most crowded places in the harbor—-especially for those of us on paddle boards or in kayaks.
Marisa
Wide open spaces and great views. Lovely place to come in the morning for a run or bike ride. Park opens at 7am but I see people there earlier
Eddie Torres
Definitely worth the trip. The park is the best staging point to seeing the statue of liberty. The ferry is about $20-25 per person for a round trip to Ellis Island and Liberty Island depending on whether you get pedestal access or not. Order online if you want to make sure you get pedestal access. They sell out. You can always get ferry access, but pedestal access needs to be reserved over in advance. Also, wear sunscreen in the warmer months. It's direct sunlight on the islands and you are going to want to take the top deck of the ferry so you can get the best pictures. Oh, and ride on the shore side of the ferry when it leave Ellis island so you get a clear shot of the statue as you approach, then that same side so you can see the NYC skyline on the way back to Jersey. Lots of parking ($7 per car). No food or drinks in the museum on Ellis island so if you get a nice cold smoothie just enjoy the Manhattan-facing side of the island until you finish it. The waves crashing on the island right by the original oyster beds (it used to be called oyster Island) are relaxing and in the shade. Great pictures of the skyline also. Then check theater 1 for the immigrant story. Enjoy!

Large park, great views of NYC! Recommend searching for a specific part of the park to visit, otherwise directions can sometimes be confusing.
Manuel Garcia
We seen the memorial put up for the September 11 Victims it was an overwhelming day today. We send all the families and loved ones our condolences.
Shyam Rana
Perfect place for family, kids and pets. Amazing view of the New York skyline. They have both free and paid parking. But free parking is mostly full so you have to go early if you want one. Paid parking is not expensive as well. The first half hour is free, then it's $7. If you go after 5pm it's $5. They also have restroom with wheelchair accessible. Amazing experience !!!!!!!!!!!
Prince Ampadu
It's very nice place to be and testify nature and see water barrier between New Jersey and New York.

Caught the ferry over from here to avoid NYC traffic. Amazing experience! The old train station was great to walk through.
Puvanai Dardarananda
Free Parking! Nice View! Good Vibe!
What can we ask more?
Jennifer Magi
This place is a great area to visit for a stroll on the boardwalk or a picnic. Seeing the New York City skyline from this park gives it a whole new perspective and see the Statue of Liberty off to the distance is spectacular. I would highly recommend visiting!
Tamara Ayraud
So amazing! There were absolutely no people when we went but looks like it could get crowded. Great playground also
Denisse Santana
Go there with family every once in a while. It is fun for grownups and kids to disassociate from technology and everything else and spend quality time together. Lots of areas that are perfect for picnics, BBQ s, outside birthday parties, outside church events. Good for cheap date ideas such as picnics, sightseeing, cute pictures.
Adam Akka
Beautiful park with an amazing view on the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. There is plenty of free parking and restrooms (the pavilion). A must visit if you happen to be around.
Naysa Ahuja
Beautiful walk by the water with great views of the city, Ellis Island, and the Liberty Island. Love that there are picnic tables and children's playground apart from the historic value. Would love it if they could install some water fountains to access drinking water along the boardwalk.
Doodle Girl
Big park. Great for walk. Rental bikes are available. Old railroad track is good place for photo shoots. Huge play area for kids. Ferries to Ellis Island and Statue of Liberty are available. Riverside walk is lovely.
Bernadette Bennett
Beautiful views of NYC and back side of Lady Liberty. Perfect night for a brisk walk.
Florian Krentzel
Attended the FIFA NY/NJ 2026 welcome event today to see Phil Murphy and Eric Adams speak, and the park was beautiful, the views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Lower Manhattan and Newport/JC are stunning, with Midtown Manhattan in the distance and a cool breeze and fast moving crowds.
This was the first time I’ve been to LSP with this much private security and state/local authorities and navigating the area was easy, and all staff was very friendly and responsive when asked questions.
I highly recommend taking a day trip out to Liberty State Park whenever you have the time or if you live within a 90 minute drive or public transit trip. 5/5
Patrick Flanagan
Fun Park with great view of New York City and Statue 🗽 of Liberty …

Less popular view but a great place for a good leisurely walk.
Michelle Fugate
Great place to see the statue of liberty and the NYC skyline
Doa Al
We stopped here on our way to New York. I loved this park more than Battery Park in NYC. You get a nice view of NYC skyline and Jersey City downtown. There is a nice bridge boardwalk to walk on and you get a good view of Lady Liberty. There is nice nature and flowers and the park is well maintained. There’s a $7 parking fee.
Juhani Nyman
Fantastic views and great place to walk.
Kimberly Giang
Great park for a picnic or a walk. The space is nicely kept and very open. Lovely views of the city and Statue of Liberty. Plenty of benches. Decent public restrooms.
Sandeep Gupta
This beautiful tourist attraction is well maintained and clean. Do look at the ferry schedule before you depart. Tickets can be booked online in advance.

You get a great view of the NYC skyline from here and nice place to relax!

Nice 9-11 memorial for NJ resident victims. Surprised at so many Indian names. Nice view of Manhattan & Ferry for Statue of Liberty departures ($23.5 a ticket)
Bethany Tripp
Loved this place!! The sidewalk actually gets you pretty close to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. It's very wide so there is plenty of room for walking, jogging, sitting, and taking pictures. We spent a couple hours here because we walked all the way to the end of the sidewalk and sauntered back and stopped frequently to take pictures.
Emily Anderson
Awesome playground for kids of all ages - for the grownups, good free parking near the playground, clean washrooms and portapotties and great skyline views
Bruce Cobaugh
It's a very surreal moment When you know that you had a family member come through as an immigrant
A Brooks
What a beautiful park. So much space to get out and walk, with amazing views of New York City and the Statue of Liberty.
Sanjay Gupta
“huge park- ferry for a statue of liberty-attend fairs-wedding/reception and lots of activity.
I have come here to catch a ferry for the statue of liberty couple of times and attend 3-4 fairs... recently been there to see 4th July 2016 fireworks. it offers you a splendid view of New York skyline. So, I guess it was the best place to see fireworks.
I have seen a wedding happening there... as there are a couple of resorts. U can take a boat to go exchange place from the park. Light rail station is within walking distance.
lavish yachts are also parked here. but this is the best place for Sunday picnic with family/friends. the bike trail is also there. and you can encounter N number of runner along the path.
kimberly Vazquez
Absolutely stunning views, so many locations to just hang for the day with your family . Parking is definitely there but once it’s around 12-1pm it’s packed ( free ones) you can pay for parking, which is usually where you park to take the ferry to visit either Ellis island or the statue of liberty !!
Nely Morales
Love this park ! Best views of the city, super cute and fun!

20 Stars!!! I walked over 5 miles. Amazing beautiful grounds and so many emotions seeing the great Lady!! And a quick ferry and walk to the 9/11 memorial.

This place is awesome.
Specially in the evening, the magic has been created by the lights of the skyscrapers of new York city. There is a big parking lot here.
There is one way driving, and a while, you can make a u turn. View of statue of liberty also can be seen from there.
Latoya Smith
I come here all the time.. on a beautiful like today.. there is no exceptions. .. if u live n jersey. You have probably visited urself. There is way more than enough space to picnic with ur people. #vegetating on the grass people watching.... If u like chilling, this park is always a good option.

BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER
This park offers beautiful views of lower Manhattan, Ellis Island and the back view of Lady Liberty. Also the NY harbor. There’s a long walkway along the Hudson. But, bring drinking water. Its a cruel walk along the river when you are parched. There are bathrooms and picnic areas as well as ferries to Ellis & Lady Liberty.
C Van Order
Great outdoor space. Perfect for the family or lovers taking a romantic stroll. Back paths lead to building still in recovery from the hurricane. Spectacular views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, NYC, Brooklyn, etc. Good place to picnic in the warmer weather or a take scenic jog.
If you do go, don't forget to pack your best camera!

My Second Favorite Park In The Tri-State Area After Prospect Park. Awesome Place To Walk, Rollerblade, Skate, Bike, Etc. As Well As Playgrounds For The Kids. And The iew Of New York City, As Well As The Statue Of Liberty's Backside , Is Breathtakingly Beautiful. The Sunsets Here Are A Wonder To Behold. Took That Picture While Rollerblading Here.

1st time and we love it. Just bad experience while getting check at the security. They were giving us hard time with my 2 year old about mask. But not going to focus on negative people. We are here to enjoy ourselves.
Ivy Grace Tutor-Lorenzo
It is truly an amazing experience to see the Statue of Liberty right before my eyes. A bucket list since my childhood days.
James Pollock
Cool park that has green space, trails and memorials throughout the park. The New Jersey Train museum is here as well as a ferry to tour the statue of liberty and Ellis Island.
Ed Holden
Wonderful harborside park with unbeatable views of Manhattan, plus it's the closest you can get to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island without taking a ferry to them.
Manali Yeole
This is a great park to go with kids of all age groups , with waterfront , playground there's lot of fun. You can arrange a family & friends picnic outing here too. Kids & adults can ride their scooters, bikes too. We enjoyed it

Wonderful place to view Statue of Liberty and also perfect view for all tall buildings of Newyork.
Claire Bina
Middle of the morning on a holiday and they were cleaning the memorial. I came from Omaha partly to see the names and I could not. The Serve Pro guy was rude when I tried to snap a couple of pictures. I missed out on a huge part of my trip.
Joanne Torres
I took a ferry from here to Ellis Island and Liberty Island. Definitely a nice place and I enjoyed it very much.
Asheesh Kumar
The best view of NewYork Skyline can be seen from this place. Very well managed pathways and parking lots with access to ferry ride to Ellis & Liberty Islands. Please be noted that if you plan to visit Ellis island then get down when ferry stops there as it doesn't stop on this island while returning. Also for best view of "Statue of Liberty" try to get a seat on the right side of the ferry.
Baltazar Guzman
I was visiting the area and drove over this park. It is really a beautiful park. There is not a lot of people there, it’s easy to walk around. A great opportunity to take some pictures.
Packtraverller
This my favorite urban park. It's a great place to go for a walk, ride a bike, view nature, take in the views of New York City and the area, not to mention, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. There is free parking on the southern end of the park and near the playground.
Leo Suarez
Amazing views I was able to freely drive around for miles. Stopping at different locations to see all types of amazing views. Being from Ny I appreciated viewing the beautiful city from a distance. Not to mention minus the noise and the hustle and bustle of the city. I just viewed this spectacular location on Feb 13 2018. We all know this is a pretty brisk time of the year I would assume in the summer time this place is packed. Now I will leave the @google community with some raw unedited photos from my galaxy 8. So imagine the wonders with a dslr thank you and please follow my professional photography @ nyphotographer@yahoo & instagram leonardos718

Beautiful views of the New York skyline, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and an historic railroad terminal. I love railroad history, so just the seeing the station, the tracks, and historic photos was plenty for me. Parking is $7 if you go to the main lot by the railroad station. The park gets pretty crowded, especially when the weather's nice. It's possible to find some spots farther away and hike to some of the sites.
SANDIE LEE BUTLER
I love this place. Nice to see and read about history. Great views.
Rostyslav Snizhko
Beautiful. God Blese the USA and thank you France for such a wonderful gift, bless you too.

Liberty state park is an amazing place for your random picnic or your weekend fun or parties. This space is clean anf have lots and lots of emptg space for you to setup your barbeque or your party canopy. There are plenty of eateries nearby and lot of bars and what not.
Statue of liberty is located right here, that is again a for your weekend fun, you can plan your random trips or book your trip in advance. You can reach liberty state park easily by your car or can take a cab. Light rail is also an option but it will give you a drop little away and you have to walk some more distance to reach your real spot. This place is having good wheelchair access and parking facility as well. I can keep on writing endlessly so better go there and have a experience. Have fun!
Vickiana Liranzo
My absolute favorite place to jog. I feel safe and Jog with amazing views of Jersey & New York. I have picnics with my daughter here all the time and it never feels crowded. Whenever I have visitors over I take them to this park , they are always floored by the views.
andrew bowden
Great views of Manhattan and Staten Island, New York. Pictures of Statue of Liberty are womdeful. Lots of areas to walk and relax. Very family oriented and rooms for picnics.
Ronald Winkelman
Nice place plenty of parking. Clean, safe. But not much to do other than 9/11 memorial, old train station for Ellis Island arrivals, boat ramp at south end, trail walking and statue of liberty Ellis Island boat trips. There is alot of wide open space though.
Rafiq dowla
We had a wonderful time that afternoon in Liberty park.on Hudson.facing the Statue of Liberty and Jersey city high rise establishments washed by the mighty tides of the Hudson. I tried to catch some pics.sharp sun rays of summer made me almost failure to see.Only camera eyes was the help.
H.C. Laughlin
Love this park. We visited a few different times and once for July 4th. It has a nice large playground, multiple public grills, and the grass is nice and green.
For July 4, we arrived at 1pm and got this nice spot with shade. Uber dropped us off right in front of the park. Our friends drove and had to park really far away. I think we got lucky...we were coming while a family was leaving. People are really nice and helpful. We forgot our grill and charcoal, but people were more than helpful and gave us all the supplies we needed to grill.
Leaving was a disaster. if you plan on watching the fireworks, plan to walk 1-2 miles to the parking lot or destinated Uber area. Leave early to avoid the traffic.
Overall, we always enjoy our time when visiting this park.
Malinda Williamson
Can get a bit crowded but it had a great playground. It's huge with a lot to do. There are places to picnic and bbq. Awesome views of the statue of liberty and new york from New Jersey side.
Jos KS
Vast area..good for a long walk or cycling..children park equipped with variety of items for all ages.. lot of barbeque stands under shady trees..can picnic in small and big groups.. view of Manhattan and Liberty statue from riverfront..an excellent place to spend time with family and friends.. ample parking..need more permanent and clean restrooms..
R David Koby
Beautiful, huge and underutilized state park. Hiking, biking, jogging, fishing, picnics and more. Boat rides to Statue of liberty and/or Ellis Island depart from the north end. Memorial to 9/11 at the north end. Comfort and food facilities (weather permitting ). Charge for parking lot over 2 hours is $7.
Free 2 hour lot is small but fills up quickly, especially summer weekend's. Liberty Science Center with new planetarium just a half mile away. Ferry to NYC Wall Street and World Trade Center departs here as well. The ferry is a great, but short, ride and an easy way to visit NYC without the hassle and expense of driving in. This park is one of NJ great secrets. Don't miss it. (Please forgive photos. Taken on a gray yukky day.)
Marie Barnevik McKeige
Stayed at the Marina with our boat. Outstanding Marina!
Walked around state park along water - sensational views of New York Harbor, Manhattan and Statue of Liberty.
Jennie K
Beautiful park with amazing views and the historic train station! Highly recommend!
RocioJ.C
Beautiful park with magnificent views of NYC! Bring a bike, skates or scooter to go around the entire park. Bring a blanket to have a picnic and take a walk with your dog.
Rick Pennington
Was great even though it was raining. We still enjoyed it. This is where you can get on the ferry for the Statue of Liberty in NJ. The park is well maintained and you can see the Statue of Liberty and the NYC skyline.
James Pugh
Very peaceful. The Liberty museum was nice. And they have great lemonade!
Steve
Great park and beautiful views. Lots and lots of grass area to picnic and sit. A great way to spend a few hours on the weekend.
Saranya C
Beautiful location with NY skyline view. Nice for picnics or a quick get together. Parking is free but competitive during busy times.
Elizabeth Benson
Park is very large and the views are stunning. There is a beautiful boardwalk and also ample picknic areas and a playground. It could use a little more TLC with trash and I could not even walk near, let alone inside the restrooms the smell was too overwhelming, go before you get to the park. Definitely worth a nice visit!
Amanda Flowers
Beautiful!! And great close up to Liberty.
Issy B
Nice park and views of NYC. There is free parking in the park. The playground was nice.
Haydy Saquisili
Amazing we went for the fireworks and I loved it so muchhh. Beautiful view too
Nicole Tay
If you walk the riverside trails you can see Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, and NY city skyline - what more can anyone ask! Went in the winter, and it was very cold especially with the breeze (2°C but feels much colder). There's not a lot of people around on a Friday afternoon, good for quiet walks with lots of isolation and wonderful views.
E Red
Always come here to enjoy the view of Manhattan. Usually during the weekdays it’s very empty . Our favorite time to visit but on the weekends you can’t even find parking.

Visited to board the ferry, grabbed some pictures on the way back. Awesome city line view.
There is a memorial wall for the people who we have lost in 9/11, when looked from a point these walls give a picture of where twin towers used to be

Early mornings are the best. Place is clean, information on trails can be easily read. Most volunteers are very friendly.

Lovely place to picnic, relax on the grass and even go for a nice bike ride or walk. The lovely views no matter where you decide to stop you'll be gla to have spent a day here.

The Empty Skies Memorial is very moving and impactful. The way it "fits" in with the NY skyline is brilliantly done. This is also where we buy tickets for the ferry to Ellis and Liberty islands and the train station here is huge! It's in a bit of disarray at this time though from the recent storms but they are making progress.

Get the amazing views of newyork skyline. Beautiful path to walk with some cool winds and a great view. If you have a good company of friends and family it’s a good picnic spot too.

One of the best places in NJ to park your car and head into the state park to view the uninterrupted view of New York city.
Plenty of BBQ spots and long trails for biking and walking.
Michelle Hupp
Very nice park. Lots going on on a Sunday afternoon. Plenty of space for walking or biking along the coast with great views of Lady Liberty (her back) and Ellis island as well as Manhattan in the background.

Take the ferry from NY harbour, it's a 30 minutes ride to the statue, aspect a ferry full of tourist like you from around the world. Once there isn't much to do, nevertheless, it is a nice place to be. There is a park with an amazing view of NY skyline. There are a few food points in the island. Toke me 20 minutes to make all the pictures and silly selfies after that I chilled overseeing the amizing NYC.
Manisha
Would recommend going there when weather is a bit warm. The place is great with great city views, peaceful
Place.

Beautiful place to come visit anytime of the year. We went during the autumn. Even though it was cold, the views of Manhattan and Lady Liberty are worth it!

It's fine & respected but situation involved paying an unexpected & expensive toll imposed when still in NJ, from Linden to the Liberty Park & I hadn't visited NYC yet merely about 15 km along NJTP. I've tried understanding this arrangement but seems rather steep & deceptive so need recognize what's become of liberty. Tolltaker warned me I may have to pay more to leave ... Seems okay to somebody? Also, followed up with NJTP calculator & this was excessive even by their standards of $11, but I mistakenly entered turnpike anyway when my route reset to accept tolls. Frankly should condoned appropriate authority ethically collect then impose speeding upon that route & accountability upon harmful traffic violators esp when injure anybody. Still really like this area although rather messy this season beside very frigid temps so must respect survivability of those meant for this hosted habitat as fewer areas exist, those with decent factors, although no place for geese to go except where people traverse? That could get relieved when understand & apply some ecology & else. Also, flotsam jetsam this was seen washed up too, part of a car?

Gorgeous Park! Great city skyline views, picnic area, dog friendly and full of history. Some of the old railtracks and trains have been kept for viewing and there's a beautiful 9/11 memorial.
Delphina Batista
It was my first time at the park and it was nice, I'll go during the day and take better pics so that we all enjoy the view together 🙏☺️ …

Awesome everything at the park great the views are just breathtaking and they have bathrooms there they're very clean a very good place to bring your family and friends and you can do barbecue there as well it's free and only if you could feel safe there is a lot of state troopers there as well
Dmitrii Neuimin
I love this place.
You can walk, run, play, ride a bike or scooter and enjoy the beautiful views.

I saw the Statue of Liberty and the New York City skyline. Then, I headed over to the Interpretive Center and saw the marshy area. Pretty cool. There was plenty of parking available. I didn't like that there were helicopters in the sky (not that it's the park's fault) and the view isn't mind-boggling. Worth a visit? Yes, with friends or family. By oneself? If you are extremely bored or wish to be introspective. Not a must-visit place

I love Liberty State Park! Whenever I’m visiting I just come here to walk around and sit down. It’s so relaxing to sit by the water. Also it’s a convenient place to park if you are planning to go Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. Very cool to see the old train tracks as well.
Greg Hendricks
This is a beautiful view of Manhattan, there is a ton of parking here but it still fills up. If you come early you can find free parking, but if not there is paid parking near the ferry. I can't speak for the amenities, but the park its self is worth a visit!

Great views! And no trouble parking!!

Wowwww! I like it.
Liberty State Park is a park in the U.S. state of New Jersey, located on Upper New York Bay in Jersey City, opposite both Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
I would like to reserve a 5 * rating for this place.
Thanks you.

Great views of the skyline, even on a cloudy/misty day

If you're in New York or New Jersey, this place is a must see. It has the most AMAZING view of Manhattan & Ellis Island. Along with a 9/11 memorial, there's a few things worth looking at. They have a historic railroad station and if you're looking into visiting the Statue of liberty, this one of both places where you catch the Statue cruises. FYI, they have good parking and decent bathrooms.

Perfect ride boat ride with the kids. We had a ton of fun. They have food stands and a gift shop on site.

Spacious and cool on hot days! Nice views of Manhattan, access to the Empty Sky 9/11 Memorial.

The park was beautiful, the park officer at the guard house to the one lane road was extremely rude, mean, unprofessional and nasty to us. We were lost looking for directions and he just started yelling at us to turn around and leave when we asked him which way to go

I've fallen in love with this place, felt peace and serenity having just to walk and watch the lady liberty waiting for people visiting her.
If you are the type who loves all green, flowers, water and a walk in the park, this is the place to go.
Raymond Martinez
Scenic views of NYC skyline and satute of liberty. Nice trails for walking and biking. Will come again to see more of the park. My trip was short and only had 1hr to sight see.

Such a huge park!! Ample parking. Was here to catch the city cruise to go to ellis island and liberty island 🗽 …

Best place for a rainy day, kids and adults can have a lot of fun

This was my first time visiting and let me tell you, this park is HUGE. I thought I was gonna be able to walk the entire thing in under an hour and even after 2.5 hours later I still was only able to see about 80% of it. In short, it offers fantastic views of the Statue of Liberty, Manhattan skyline, and features numerous other attractions including a 9/11 memorial. Parking was easy, park patrons were happy and following the rules, and State Park Police Officers were friendly and welcoming while on patrol.

The place has a great view on Manhattan, there you can do sports or just spend time in a quite area.
There you can find a barbeque area with children's playground, a parking lot and a toilet.
sampath talluri
It’s a busy place with manny people moving around and parking your vehicle is free for 2 hours. They will be some people always patrolling all the time.
We can enjoy some time with the family.
The tourists came to visit New York will definitely come here.
To see and take a snap on the Bridge. The view is magnificent

Amazing experience in exploring this place!!! You feel history in this place because even buildings originally from 1900 years. I was amazed🙌🏼 recommend this place for trip . Boats coast around 20$ - 30$ per person and it is really worth it!!! …

Beautiful park to come and visit Great views of the city tours of liberty island and Ellis island are very close. Big playground for kids nice lawn for picnics and barbecues. Usually not very busy plenty of space to have some privacy. Also a very beautiful Marina called liberty landing where I purchased my first Sailboat.

This is a wonderful park with a nice walking trail to see Ellis and Liberty Island . Take the Statue shuttle from here, not as much traffic or congestion of people. Get there early and go to Ellis island first then go to Liberty island .

I love this Park so much! Literally my favorite place in all of NJ. Its a great family place and the are views are amazing

The streets leading to the park proper are littered with trash but once you make the left turn on to Freedom way it's like night and day; clean and in order. We came in Autumn so the tree line foliage were beautiful. Even on a cloudy day it was a clear view of the Lower Manhattan , Ellis island and the part of the Statue of Liberty.
Asha Sehrawat
It was a great experience. Try to book your tickets online in advance if you want to plan your day ahead of time. Sometimes the tickets are sold so you won't get chance to get the ferry ride.
Make sure you have enough time to visit both Island and enjoy the view.!
Zoey Jolley
Loved going and seeing Lady Liberty up close. We got the pedestal tour. Wear comfy shoes to go up all the stairs. Enjoy your time and plan ahead if you need to so that you can get tickets to go to the crown if possible.

I had not visited liberty State Park in many years. I went because they were doing a walk through the terminal explaining the history and architecture of the old railroad terminal.
I found the guide to be very good at explaining different aspects of the terminal. It was also a nice day and I was able to take some great photographs of liberty State Park and lower Manhattan.
I highly recommend liberty State Park and their associated programs.

Nice discovery for me and the family, we really enjoyed the empty sky monument. Great place for a picnic.

It's good memory and experience. New York City looks stunning from there. Also great place to take pre wedding shutting. It's unforgettable moment spending over there.

Nicely maintained with both free as well as paid parking, children play area, historical monuments. One can spend the day and can also plan to visit statue of liberty from here.
