Reviews of Los Angeles State Historic Park
Gary Dunkel
This is such a great park in LA! It’s big and spacious and has a lot of cool walking trails! The best part is that there’s a cafe at the park where you can grab food or a coffee to walk around the park with. There’s plenty of benches and bathrooms which is great. Also, great views of the DTLA skyline!
Nicole Ridgely
Like someone else mentioned, don’t plan on coming here over the weekend because there is never any mention of large events. They don’t advertise it at the park, and neither their Instagram page or website ever mention events and the entire park will be closed for it. This park has come so far in a handful of years I hope it won’t be ruined. They certainly have redeemed themselves in one way by adding the farmers market on Thursdays! It’s quaint but the vendors are amazing. I just wish there was any heads up about weekend events.

The park has different angles and different points of views however it seams was flat at the same time narrow walk ways and definitely limited parking spaces , for an event such pride month and ticket price could be more colorful and definitely divided by all family, youth and over 21+. They were more concern Bar booth then any other booths. It should be exclusive booth for non drinking alcohol & beer sections .. with fun and entrainment .not just selfie background pictures Again very narrow spaces and whatever you go Same thing . For a long waiting biggest performances even though timing was excellent for each performance . I did enjoy I did have fun . definitely I got tan, we miss the mist water spray... they were no fun games or culture from the beginning of time .how pride how became to be. For a new generations to come. ( Next be proud for the generations.. next show the real colors ,fun entrainment & games ) we always as general ticket holder provide our character and behavior to be. Wasn't provide the day. . Again honor the culture . It looks to me another fairy tail festival. . Yes I did enjoy and yes I did have fun. Your pride for generations to come.

What a park! As we all stop watering our landscapes, I hope this park continues to keep their turf green as a public amenity. You can kick off your shoes here and run around in the immaculate and extensive grass.
The park is huge, lovely, and super fun for kite flying. Great views of downtown LA. 💚

The Park was perfect for Vegandale LA. Best Vegan Festival to date. I bought 5 meals & they have made the best leftovers 😋. The park.was clean, clear for seeing the DJ, the walkway has great positive motivational sayings. Safest place to go is a Vegan event. Security made sure we felt great 👍🏼

LA Historic Park - 5 🌟!
A great DTLA park! A bit hidden in relation to the downtown core. But they host great events. I was there for a lovely art show. There are lots of great views and plenty of space to wander around.
Art Lopez
Awesome place to relax at. It’s peaceful and quiet, well maintained and safe. Plenty of parking, clean restrooms, and there’s a snack shack at the entrance of the park. Several walking trails, dog friendly, and a great view of DTLA.
Ashley chong
Great park, public bathrooms that are always clean and well kept. Tons of green grass and a lovely view of DTLA, especially at sunset. There are paved sidewalks but mostly gravel paths. It cost money to park inside the gate but street parking can be found at either end of the park. Great place to walk the dogs!
Alex R
A beautiful downtown park, that LA has beautifully renovated for a bright future. It’s perfect for a quick workout, picnic with friends or a date. Plus it’s right off the gold line and about a 1/2 mile from Union Station.
Pamela Russell
Visited here a week ago for a music festival. Do much fun. Lots of open space to walk around and eat and enjoy the shows. I loved it. I can't wait to come back for another show. We'll done ! We'll done!
M BoB
It's a nice park with plenty of open space. Since it's pretty new the trees are still small so shade is somewhat limited. We went on a cool November day so it felt great! The picnic tables are on the right side of the park (park and go right and straight).
If you're visiting, please keep your dogs on leash per local laws. There were a few that would come up even though our dog doesn't like other dogs. Help us keep both dogs safe!
rebecca burciaga
Really enjoyed the kite festival (05/21/2022) it was the second year. A lot of people came out, there are nice public restrooms and portable restrooms too with hand washing stand too. There is a shake shack restaurant at the end (nearest to the metro station). There is parking on a dirt area in front, but there is plenty of parking on the street, we were lucky enough to find parking on the street within minutes.

Such a clean park. It’s perfect for a picnic or sun bathing. Its located in the middle of our busy city Los Angeles. Think of it as the LA version of the Central Park in NYC. Gotta drive around for parking spots though, but honestly people come and go constantly so parking should not be an issue.

Love the beautiful park with high security system, no littering and homeless harrasement. Children can go play there with peace and safety that is not seen anywhere in other park. Music theater events setup often on weekend for young people, we need to avoid fun events for covid19 safety.
Hoser The 1
Awesome event this weekend real big beautiful park lots of space lots of green lots of history there and I really enjoyed the whole landscape and geography of the entire place! Great great place to bring the family friends and everyone else who wants to get out in the open green and see what a beautiful Park this place is! Always huge events here and I was fortunate enough to be part of one of them which was Porter robinson! One of the coolest experiences I've ever seen in my life! Electronica music is new to me and the memory will be forever here at this park the first time seeing this live performance with this type of music was all the reason to be excited!
seattle in the 90s
Really nice park with lots of beautiful plants, walk ways are dirt so heads up to plan for that. other wise bathrooms are clean and I enjoyed my walk there as a out of towner.
Gabriel Gabe
This park has several walking paths for a short quick walk. There's even a small cafe and food spot inside the park.
Jhon Williams
Had a fantastic experience at the Prinavera Sound Festival on Sunday! A few new bands for me... and got to finally see: Amyl and the Sniffers, along with Arctic Monkeys!
Giovanny Hernandez
I went for Pride LA 2022 and the place is beautiful and I will totally recommend getting there on public transportation which really close to it, or uber because there are not enough parking places.
Melystikal
This park was not what I expected. Since it's in a not so clean area of Los Angeles, I was expecting it to be like Elsyian Park (weirdos). But to my surprise this park is well maintained and the views are pretty epic. Alot of open space to just hang out and take a walk. Also, this has to be the 2nd hipster park I ever been too. Echo Park is #1 hipster. You cant bbq here and restrooms are available. Nonetheless, it's alright and it has some art pieces so I'll come again.
Avedon Arcade
A well maintained length of land with plenty of space for any activity. There’s a lot of neat landscape design all around.
Though I wish they had more playground-like installations scattered around, it’s still fun to enjoy on occasion. It’s also walking distance from some breweries and Chinatown for those looking to stay nearby without having to move the car 🤙🏾
Clanda Sh
Omg I love this park! Such a little gem in DTLA! LA state historical park is a nice park with plenty of space; and I have to say, I really LOVE this location. It's not just spacious, the view is really good too. You get to see Dodger stadium and the skyline of DTLA. The sunset views over DTLA were truly beautiful! It’s also a great place for friends, families and doggies. Yes, doggie friendly! Bonus points: they just renovated in 2017, so everything looks pretty new.
Tips:
-There are 2 food and beverage options nearby; one is Cargo snack shack (it’s in the park) and another brewery called Highland park (across the street) All walkable!
- Street food cinema event is held at this location
-FREE PARKING on the street

I've lived in LA all my life and I just recently visited the park. We came to see the first screening of Cinespia. The park is super clean and you get a great view of the downtown skyline. Perfect place to go on a picnic date or take a walk with family.
Cigal Shaham
Very large park. Well maintained. Nice walking trails. Restrooms were suprisingly clean.
Jessica G
Love this park. Super clean. Friendly people. Restrooms clean. Parking available $2 per hour. Pet friendly. Walking trails. Lots of green space. Water fountain. Good for jogging and Yoga activities.
Amber Does It All
I came to this park for the vegandale (vegan fest) it was pretty spacious great for watching a movie outside I loved the l.a building in the back it was a very cool vibe
Amber Johnson
I came to this park for a vegan fest , the parking at the time was 30.00 it was spacious , portal bathrooms , great view of the Los Angeles buildings perfect for an out door movie theater. It was a whole vibe
Jovani Rosas
Excellent park to take a long walk. Great city events.
Frank MacGyver
Lots of great social distancing taking place here. Plenty of space and shade for everyone.
This park is always super clean. Love coming here. Plus they have a farmers market every Thursday from 3:00 to 7:30.
Victoria Ruiz
Nice place to go walking. Most of the paths along the grass are dirt so be prepared. It does have many trees so it can get hot under the summer sun. They have restrooms, parking lot and a snack shack. They built a view point so you can see downtown well and take nice photos.
Ingrid Martinez
so good for going on a walk or having a small picnic with friends, it’s so peaceful especially hearing the metro pass by and the view of dtla
Mr. H
Great location to host a music festival. I had a blast here!
Mary Parker
I was here for a special event. The park is large and has a variety of paths to walk. I particularly like the citrus trees in the decorated planters.
Barba Mundial
This is an enjoyable newer park that's super clean and has amazing views of downtown LA. Parking is available through the Parking Passport since this is a State Park and is pretty cheap at $1.50 an hour - street parking is also available for free, but spaces were pretty full. There is no elevation gain here - the paths are all flat and you can do the entire loop in about 1.2 miles. There are some public art exhibits around, but nothing super attention grabbing. A couple water fountains around in case you don't bring your own bottle. Also - this park is gated, so you really can't visit outside of sunrise to sunset hours.
Christina Crow - Montano
Very nice right in the middle of an area that's being remodeled. I love the cleanliness and dog friendly atmosphere!
Jamie Lai
It's a pleasant park with some nature oriented art installation. There's a food and beverage place right outside the park and walkable from Chinatown so it's a nice place to grab food and eat, or picnic. They sometimes hold concerts here. There are bathrooms but they are a bit gross.
Wade Trefethen
Such a nice place. It had been 10 years since I had been there and it seems like a good place for family and friends. Easy parking, easy bathrooms and open fields. Some great kite flying the day i was there. Parking machine was easy.
Pedro Escobar
Was here for a concert. I appreciate how this venue is over sold to high. Where it make everything annoying. Never been here as a park experience.
Shelley
I love this park. It’s spacious and clean, which is hard to come by in downtown. It has a clear and beautiful view of downtown. It is easily accessible via the Metro Gold Line (the Chinatown stop is only a few feet away from the park entrance). Most importantly, this park is perfect for creeping on cute doggos ;)
SeeAimeeYelp
This recently opened park (as of 2018) was lovely, with plenty of green space, restrooms, and dog-friendly (they must be on a leash). Typically very quiet, during a pandemic holiday, it was teeming with families and visitors. The Metro Gold line runs right past, and Chavez Ravine is just west...you can see Dodger Stadium’s lights. Perfect for a picnic or a place to exercise. Enjoy your local parks!
Derek Sanchez
Came here for Street Food Cinema and somehow had never been. It was very clean. Large and open: it has so much room for activities with a very comfortable and relaxed vibe, especially near sunset.
Tahseena Kahn
Amazing place! It's open, windy, breezy and cool. Best place to jog, exercise, picnic or just to walk! Take the Goldline train to the Chinatown Station which is only one stop from the Union Station. You can also park at the Blossom Plaza by the station.
Angela Rowe
Great concert venue. Bring a collapsible water bottle. Great place to stay is in China Town. I would only drive and not walk at night.
Megan L
Great park in the middle of LA. Great place for family biking. Large paths so you won’t have to worry too much about hitting pedestrians. Lots of grass and a great view of downtown. Went after it rained a lot and saw kids playing in puddles.
Crystal Star
Great family and pet friendly park. Nice gravel pathways for walking or jogging. Its paid parking ( starting at $2 for an hour) but street parking is available outside the park.
Helen Rodenberger
This place is rather awesome! This is the fantastic destination if you want to take the spouse and kids, you can also go with your friends. I usually just take a modest trip on my own here alone. The environment and the scenery is great to be around, that's why it helps me to thoroughly clean my head.
Gilda WA
Human and dog friendly, all ages, all events. Parking $2 per hr plus tax. Visited Saturday at noon and it wasn't crowded.
-Magnus The Entertainer-
It was great visiting there with Magnus The Entertainer check out the video of him below 👇 …
Mariann Bilden
This is the great location where you can take the kids, you can also go with friends. I normally simply take a little hike by myself here alone. The surroundings and the scenery is relaxing to be around, and it also allows me to thoroughly clean my thoughts.
Christopher Roman
It's not big, but this park is like a small, peaceful, grassy oasis. Perfect for a picnic, a workout, or a short walk. It closes each night which is unfortunate since you can't stay long after sunset, but it also ensures the there are no homeless and that it feels extremely safe. Free parking as well.
Roselle Estell
Simply having a small walk is one of my personal favorite things to do along the vicinity. At times it can be crowded, therefore I suggest to go around the less popular days during the workweek. The best thing you can do here is simply just get a SLR and take images. My spouse and I visit here routinely.
Samira Heintzman
Ok, SO. This park...it really is the fantastic area in which to come with the family, you can also go along with classmates and friends. I normally just take a modest walk by myself here by myself. The surroundings as well as the scenery is wonderful to be around, and it allows me to clear my mind.
Andrew Curry
Watched Odeza perform here and it was a great outdoor space. It has easy access from the metro and convenient drop off locations for ride share. The park looks like it would be a great place even when not used as an outdoor venue for live music.
Victor Nunez Jr.
Renegrade Craft Festival is happening this weekend starts at 11am-6pm. With over 200 vendors, food trucks, and drinks. Lots of things for women, men, kids, pets. From clothes, hats, accessories, plants, succulents, jewelry, teas, craft drinks, and so much more. So much to see. There was a lot of people today. And I'm sure it will be the same tomorrow. They are charging for parking $20. Or you can park around the commercial buildings. Something to definitely check out if you're in the area.
Michael Towne
This park is a great open space for strolling or dog walking. The trees are not yet mature, but the pathways are well planned. Plento of benches and walkways for meandering and contemplating.
Dustin Bui
Honestly one of my favorite parks in all of LA. A bit of a gem given that it's Chinatown adjacent. Unlike other parks, this one feels like a "city park" with a downtown skyline view and the metro gently passing by every so often. Lots of different pockets for a picnic with friends, and wide open spaces for walks with the pup or maybe some frisbee. Small restaurant to grab a bite or a beer, plus multiple public bathrooms, make this an A+ park my book.
regis kwong
After reading the reviews of our fellow Yelpers about this park, we have been wanting to come and take some pictures of the sunset of downtown LA. On Boxing Day ( a Canadian Holiday) we went to Highland Park Brewery in China Town and accidentally discovered this hidden gem which is right across from the brewery.
We were so glad that we got there before the sunset as park would have closed at sunset. It looked like a lot of of families came out with their children and dogs to enjoy outdoor activities.
Although it's located in DTLA, the park is vast. There is plenty of grass areas for children to run around and the dogs to catch their frisbees.
At sunset time, there is a hill and a bridge where you can have a clear view of DTLA sunset. I snapped some photos of the sunset. It was nice to be out in the open.
Eryka West
The park and layout is dope. BUT the Smokin Grooves event VIP was nowhere near what someone would consider VIP, especially for that price. All of the people I spoke to there agreed. The acts lined up were phenomenal tho...I missed the last 2 hours of performances cuz it was freezing(I had no clue Cali weather switched up like that) Overall it was a good time, if they stepped up the VIP I'd go every year. My people and I came in from Atlanta, GA.
Michele Montano
I love visiting this park. Sunsets are nice, you can see the City skyline in the distance. The Gold line station, Chinatown restaurants and Philippe's are walking distance . It's a nice venue to see concerts too.
Ricardo Campos
We did a photobooth booth event for "La Que Buena radio station" for the second year. Park is great!
Suzanne Gross
Its a young park. I’ve been watching the trees grow in size as I’ve been riding the train by it each morning as I go to work. We finally visited and what I noticed as the wonderful birdsong. So many lovely songs. It was a peaceful morning and I really enjoyed the markers explaining the park’s history and how it came to be. Nice
LAB RATS UNITE
Most recently I attended the YOLA DIA Festival here. I sat on a park bench for a quick smoke and security in golf carts zoomed up on me in an enthusiastically urgent fashion. They let me be & I didn't take the time to look around for the cctv cams. It's worth a trip on the Metro Gold Line, during non peak hours, to take in the view, as the rail glides you over and across the short stretch that is the park.
Ashton Shein
I've never known LA has this such a beautiful park. It's very peaceful and cozy and it's perfect park for family picnic.
Carlos T
Ample parking and multiple ways to get to this park (public transport, Uber, driving). They even added a new little snack shop that serves alcoholic drinks! Yes you heard that right ! Very well maintained with plenty of room for activities.
Aniyah Ross
We came for the SmokinGrooves festival and it was SO LIT, best first festival experience. If all festivals are like that then I certainly have been missing out!!
Sovatha
Fun place to walk around, not too far from downtown LA. One loop around in the park is about 1.3 mile. There are numerous spots to take photo of downtown skyline. The park is recently opened, so I saw there's still work to be done.
CP “Sweets” Cruz
Amazing, historical, nature habitat; like the Central Park of New York but in City of Los Angeles found next to Chinatown, between #NicksCafe 🤗 …
Carlo N.
Los Angeles State Historic Park provides an extraordinary opportunity for recreation and education in the heart of Los Angeles. Often referred to as “Central Park of Los Angeles,” within its 32 acres of open space directly adjacent to Chinatown, park visitors can wander pathways and enjoy a view of downtown, as well as discover and celebrate the natural and cultural heritage of Los Angeles. Some of the park's amenities include bathrooms, water fountain, and benches. Plenty of street parking available. You can run, walk, ride a bike, have a picnic, fly a kite and even look for urban wildlife such as birds traveling down the Pacific flyway. You can see the Metro Gold line pass through the park. Overall, its a good place to hangout, do fun activities and watch the sunset.

What a beautiful hidden treasures right in the hear if downtown la! A larger open expanse nustled right next to China Town and open to the public daily. The. Lawns are meticulously kept and the park tedously clean. A perfect place to bring some bikes, kids and dogs. I was there for a craft fair and couldn't imagine a more exquisite venue for expertly hand crafted goods.
Sima Stoops
Our favorite park in the city! Perfect for walks and picnics and usually pretty easy to find street parking.
I just wish they would create a fenced in off-leash dog area somewhere since the park has such a large footprint!
Andrew Baker
I'm very "meh" about this park. It's basically a big lawn with walking paths, But sorely lacking in facilities or actual amenities of any kind. It's unfriendly. Sure, it's clean and well maintained, but it's sad and barren. I counted FOUR picnic tables in the whole place. It's just kind of a whole lot of nothing with $2 an hour parking.
Laurene Mizrahi
My only complaint is that they should have planted some more mature trees to offer some shade. It is an extremely open space, and brutally hot during the daytime. My love for this place is that it is a clean place downtown to take your dog for a walk. I haven't stepped on broken glass, or seen, or smelled human poop so far like everywhere else downtown. (Sorry, but it's the truth)
B. David
Great place to walk & enjoy the outdoors with an awesome view of DTLA. Plenty of parking spaces available, they have numerous park benches & tables throughout to sit down & relax along with trash receptacles for those who choose to walk their pets. I'm a pet owner myself & the only thing that can become a nuisance is the irresponsible pet owners who choose to walk their dogs without picking up after them. So make sure when you do walk here to scan your path, last thing you want to experience is stepping in dog feces & smelling it all the way home due to a lazy pet owner.
Joseph Dandona Jr.
Nice park adjacent to Chinatown. Several acres of lawn with nice views of the LA skyline. Several nice walking and jogging paths. Our dog enjoyed a nice walk away from the hectic pace and crowds of Los Angles. A nice open space to relax and enjoy nature a few blocks from downtown.
Kirsten Alana Photography
Great place for a live concert! We visited for Odesza and I would happily return. There’s a great way to actually take in concerts for free, by just parking on the side of the park that’s on the hill, above the train tracks. We would do that again - as we did for the second night of their two-night series.
Matias Bustos
Beautiful park. Lot of space and green areas. Medium size parking lot. Hour rate $2.5. Daily $8.35. Need an app to pay parking: Yodel

Pakistan 🇵🇰 Independence Day Celebration family day out musical, food shopping and fun day. …
Art Thomas
Got to go to the Head in the Clouds festival here this year. Absolutely phenomenal!! Unreal music with downtown LA in the background is a winning combination. They did a great job managing like 25,000 people in the park all afternoon as well. Can't wait for next year 😊 …
Jeesue Kim
I'm so glad they added this wonderful park as it brings the community together through the rail tracks. A nice sunset always takes your breath away as you jog or walk the trails.
Robert Bojorquez
Always enjoy weekend breakfast at Nick's. Service is very good. My favorite is the classic ham and eggs. Definitely worth a visit.
Bambi Heather Black
I love this park it's super cute and you can totally see the view of dtla and they got a track you can walk or run around and chill with your kids and family.
Gabriela Barrientos
You have to pay for parking, but the park is so clean. There’s people flying kites, others riding bikes, people sitting out in the grass, it’s a good place for a picnic, it’s a good place for kids, but you can’t barbecue. The view to DTLA is beautiful though
Julio Arciga
Honestly such a pretty park. Went for primavera and had an amazing experience. Pretty view of the city as well makes it soo cool.
Santos Gomez
A pretty decent space to have the Primavera festival. They had adequate restrooms and the beverage lines were ok. Would attend another festival here.
Andreas “Aris” Aristidou
Three stars not because there’s something bad about it but because there aint anything special about it either. It’s basically a large space with grass. Parking is easy to find and they often have cool events like outdoor cinema.
Bernice Detig
Held an event at this park and everyone was so professional. the grounds are amazing and so is the staff. Cannot wait for next year. !!!! Moving Day Los Angeles!!!
Luis Hernández
I work there and is very fun. That Park is very clean and huge.
Chris Gavin
Great parked tucked away near the arts district. Saw a show here and the park did a great job as the venue.
Mark Andrade
My first time being here since its renovation. Pretty large park. Nice spot to get away from the noisiest parts of LA.
Jose Alvarez
A true diamond in the rough. Great park and very well maintained. Excellent views to the mountains and downtown highline. It closes at sunset.
Ismael Soto
Came for La Tocada fest 2018. Well organized event security was strict on taking out alcohol from the drinking area but it was fine since it was an all age event..
Cynthia Soto
Beautifully designed, huge lawn to picnic or lay down the sun or tree shadows. Kids, dogs, couples, friends all together having fun. Very respectful people wearing mask all the time and keeping 6' apart. Can park on site or rear parking.
James Goetz
This is a beautiful park, one of the best in LA... though it could use some better water fountains. Everything else about this place is pretty darn great. Amazing views, lots of different terrains. Hills, flat grass and walking/bike paths. Nice local restaurants nearby.
DesiRock Entertainment
Great place for a music festival
Zach Newman
such a beautiful spot! one of my favorite parks in the city. excellent downtown views, plenty of nice grass to picnic or hang out on, and nice to go on a run through. convenient and clean and open. highly recommend!
Ben Ayala
Great place for outdoor concert. Plenty of restrooms for the Plane 8 music event. Great time!!
Ken Mann
Very nice grassy open space with plenty of concrete walkways and some welcome elevation changes just north of Chinatown.
4/22/18, went to the Renegade Craft fair. Over 100 booths with hand crafted clothing, leather goods, candles and jewelery. All very high quality.
Ken Bernfield
Cool place. I went for Kite Festival. 30 to 50 kites in the air all sorts of colors and styles and kids running everywhere. And it's a really wonderful Park to visit. Just take the metro to Union Station walk up Alameda which turns into Spring Street and you're there in 10 minutes.
Jason Mott
A beautiful place to visit. I’ve only come for two events (a concert, and Pride). The backdrop of downtown LA and the stadium hillside, as well as Chinatown is just gorgeous. The park is beautiful and I’d love to spend time on non event days here.
tommy
ODESZA!!!!! Really cool place for concerts! Lots of space to hang out and chill with friends and family. I'm pretty skeptical of outdoor concert venues (other than Red Rocks Amphitheater), but was pleasantly surprised with the sounds and lights at this park.
mike AP
Nice especially in the early morning. I miss the corn field tho
Alice Guillen
I was pleasantly surprised by this park. It's a little different than your usual park. Mainly a wide open space. Didn't see any tables or benches or jungle gym. But there are paths and bridges. Great for walking or biking. My son brought his scooter and loved riding up and down the bridge. My husband and other son enjoyed playing catch here. Saw others playing soccer. Bring your blanket and picnic basket and enjoy the sunshine!
Martha Bensalem (DelfinesAzules)
It's a very nice place to walk and look around the city and also is very clean to sitting on the floor.
Luz Rodriguez
This is my fur boys favorite park 🐶❤ and i love and enjoy It also. …
Vladimir Ballesteros-Moreno
It seems is a really nice park but it was closed when we were about to go for a stroll. The closure is temporary.
Jiho Yoo
$20 to park at the public park. But the name of the parking vendor is PP*Aztlan Athletics. Something’s shady here.
Gonzalo Alvarado
Great park to lay down walk picnic
Veronica Solano
Very nice and clean!
Greg Hao
Great place to come for a picnic or just to enjoy the weather. Bring a picnic blanket to sit under the trees as the few tables are uncovered and ground under the trees can be a bit wet sometimes
Angela Deleon
This park is large enough to host a festival. This place is quite simple, perfect for picnics (no water features/fountain). It is conveniently close to the union station. Is also near little Mexico and China town!.
filiberto cibrian
Came out here to install our Mechanical Shark ( Extra Fun Jumpers ) Today for the Zedd at the Park Event lets make another happy customer.
Chris Jose
Beautiful, clean, well-maintained park in the middle of downtown Los Angeles urban outdoors. You can bring you pet, have picnic (no alcoholic beverage and bbq). I would say a jewel. We will surely be back.
M
Large playing grounds for walking, running, dog walking and activities with parking onsite
Rob Filios
Great party and venue. I was there for a concert. A bunch of Asian artists sponsored by 88^ and Johnny Walker.
One thing you might want to keep in mind is that Uber will only pick you up on the south corner. This was a 5 min walk for me which made me miss my first Uber and have to wait around for another one.
Shannon Davina
My dog loved it. Not over crowded and we rested in the shade.
Calvin Wilson
Please bring your people, family or friends, co-workers, pets or whoever here because they are probably got bored sitting at home or working all of the time, the routine is gone with the moment you step in here :0 Enjoy
Albert Orozco
Going on your own is fine but this park is definetly a great place to enjoy with others. People relaxing, some playing catch and a nice view of downtown; next time ill bring a frisbee and a friend.
Grace Chang
Love this place, very spacious, perfect for dogs. Busy but doesn't feel crowded maybe because there isn't much shade for large crowds. Also small parking and fills quickly. My dog loves it. Bathrooms are clean and water fountains all around. Very clean, if you bring your dog please pick up after them.
Gabriel Pacana
Great place to jog, among other things, or spend time with family. You get great views of LA and it is within walking distance of Chinatown and the L Line/ Gold station. The park is well maintained.
MANJIT KAUR
It's really cool side by railway line and wide open for all age group all arrangement is available.
Kisua Wright
Been to the park 2x and great place to chill. Good festival environment
Louis Harvey
Went to a music festival here and while it was pretty small, it was pretty cool. They did a great job with the theme.
Sabir SHAFIQUE
Went with the family there was a band playing some rock music I liked it.
It's a huge park.
Kimberly Saldana
Beautiful park with great views of the DTLA skyline. I particularly like it the most as a venue for the movies at the park.
Frank Nuñez
Incredible open space just outside of downtown with an excellent view of the city skyline. Great spot for an open air, socially distant picnic!
James Andrews
Nice park, very well kept, some cool historical artifacts, nice rangers.
Gorilla
Sad that it closes at sunset. Litter everywhere. Good place to walk your dog I guess.
CataCat
The park is lovely. We had a great time here!
Indie Sindie
I love this park! It has great views of downtown Los Angeles and it's really close by the Chinatown Goldline station!
James Brown
Beautiful park, we will definitely come back thank you! :))
MissCookie Cairo
I live a street over, it's an awesome park, safe, has restrooms and water fountains.....a great view of the city and has many events......I tucked away little gem....
Susan S. McClellan
Most of this park is closed Saturday, 7/9 and Sunday, 7/10 because they are removing equipment used for a concert on Friday, 7/8. There is NO mention of this on the website and NO note that the Mithra exhibit is not accessible.
m j
Great venue for the smokin grooves festival
Hector Gomez
Great spot for a music festival

Only street parking is available
Ryan Welch
Wonderful addition to the Los Angeles Park scene. Beautiful, large park with multiple paths to meander through. Park buildings containing for both bathroom usage and rental. Gorgeous sculptures and a raised massive bridge you can cross to see the lay of the land. Plenty of parking - but at a cost. Located near downtown with great access to a brewery, bbq, Chinatown, Philippe’s, and more. It even has its own little shopping container-style bistro.
However, little to no shade. It’s quite bad when it’s warm out. No where to seek shelter. Bring a sunhat or umbrella for your convenience.
Amy Chang
I love this park! This park is amazing! Always clean and quiet. Somehow everyone here is very respectful and appreciative of the park and others. It's a great place to bring your whole family including your fur baby :)
Although I love this park so much, I had to take one star out.
Because lately, I've been seeing some selfish people. There have been a few times that I found some people smoking marijuana at the park. There are kids everywhere! Go smoke somewhere else - away from kids at least.
Anyway, this is a great park to walk, run, ride a bike, have a picnic, and more.
Brandy Coyle
Was here for a music festival and the beauty was undeniable. The pathways and small art display incorporated into tree planters was interesting. I will be going back to see it without all the people and tents.
A. M.
Large, beautiful and dog friendly. My friends and I had a fantastic tike there this past weekend with a picnic. There were good vendors and music and it was clean, aside from the restrooms.
CC DB (An equal element of)
Beautiful. Not one of these bricks have ever been slept on. Where do they hide the lasers for when intruders attempt to invade?
Larry Uribe
Great park for recreation - jogging, walking, Frisbee, etc. The Cafe at the South end is a great spot to take a break. Thursday afternoon Farmers Market is convenient.
Sapphire Johnson
Nice size park. Came here for the Vegandale festival. I like the park it got little hills to it the grass is half decent as far as color goes. The grass easily come off the ground so a blanket is highly suggested! It's also super soft, I oddly like it cause you don't come across super soft grass too often
Stephanie Mesdaghi
Came for the Theodore Payne Foundation Native Plant Garden Tour after-party. Beautiful setting in the middle of the city featuring native plants, fruit trees, and several amenities including clean public restrooms. Worth a visit!
Arthur Garza
Beautifully created and spread out
with two dog parks.bring your dog meet new people.I have not met a mean animal lover yet and I hope I never do. My dog was so happy. I'm gonna take her often.Who knows maybe I'll meet a nice lady. I could sure use one to talk with. 10 million people in L.A. and I'm lonely .What gives? Help me out beautiful people. I've been here 50 plus years , seen every skyscraper go up but never one come down. Thank God.
Z Gittlen
Super historic and met some pretty old Asian people that were wicked nice
Craig Catimon
Nice clean park. The events that are held regularly are fun to attend! They now have a cafe that serves large selection of food items, along with beer and wine! Also it's a great place to walk off the food that you may have enjoyed while walking through Chinatown!
f roybal
Very nice., enjoyed our morning walk!!
Jose Frausto
First time here for the Lane 8 tour.
Nice venue
IATSE Stagehand L215
Came out here for work, and this park is pretty well maintained
Ruth Reyes
Beautiful park. Large open fields. Grassy hills to roll around on! Really cool bridge across the center of the park, lots of people with pets. Some playing a game in soccer. Mostly chill people....
Only 4 stars because some security would have been nice... First time there and two dudes were getting into a heated argument and shoving over parking smh
Then before leaving, while using the restroom there was a mentally ill person shouting profanities by the restrooms, scaring the children's!
Just watch your back y'all!
Jackie Chen
this place is very calm and peaceful but the road near by is so loud it just takes way the peace sometimes. If you stay until the night time, you can see a beautiful sunset.
dennis doan
Our company had a gig in this park not long ago ...we set up 4 a commercial shoot ...here's what wuz done ...
Amy Lee
A very calm, peaceful place. Good to bring whole family 🚴♂️, 🚶♂️🏃♂️⛹🤸♂️ 🧘♀️ 🐕 👨🦽 …

Great escape from the near by city. Great dirt track that goes around the park to run on. A lot of green space in the middle to hang out. Bathrooms available and are clean. There is paid parking but you can save money by just parking across the street.
Thomas Dearden (T.R.)
Food trucks and film was great, brought the doggie and had tons o fun
Babetravelling
It’s a great park to play frisbee, go running and join some fitness groups. Also great for dog walking and playing for kids.
The homeless are harmless and the park closes early for ur safety.
The public restrooms are hot or miss
Alecksee Warwick
Cool open flat park super close to dodger stadium. Open green grass to sit n picnic with friends and family n pets. Grab a 6 pack or growler and Highland Park Brewery right across the street sit down and chill. Not sure if drinking is allowed in the park so don't tell anyone I told you this. 😉🤫 …
C M
No playground for kids but you can take a walk. Nice view of the los Angeles's buildings.
Eric Schloesser
Amazing park with ample green space an inspiring story behind it. This is truly one of my favorite spots in LA for many reasons. LOCATION. views of the mtns, downtown, sounds of the train…grab a snack in Chinatown and enjoy it here.
Tons of space and trees for shade. Perfect for lying down on a blanket, reading a book, etc whatever you fancy.
Just west of the bridge in the park, there’s signs that tell the story of how it was established. They have a free audio tour by simply calling a phone number. It’s really informative and interesting. I love this place, and am honored to enjoy the space that many fought for a long time to establish.
Ariel Alston
LOVE this park! Its gorgeous and well kept with lots of space to run around!
Roy Lackey
Super clean park with a great vibe. They keep this park in tip top shape and have park rangers that patrol the premises which made it feel more safe.
Mandy Cheung
Beautifully renovated in late April 2017. The LA skyline from this park is awesome.
susanalasus
It is a great piece of nature in the middle of the city. Last night was a celebration!
Emira Al-Hatllan
BEAUTIFUL PARK AND BEAUTIFUL DAY FOR A MUSIC FESTIVAL
Michael Dennis
Great place to stretch your legs, clean and safe!

Love this park. Plenty of space to walk, jog, play frisbee or picnic in the lawn. Great for events too! Lots of available parking when there are no events taking place at the park.
J M
Love this park, great open space for waking your dogs too.
Ed G.
Very cool park nicely designed and beautiful.
Suzanne Sule
We went for 2nd annual VEGANDALE Festival. It was spectacular.
Hector Ayala
Always such a nice park to stroll through
Alissa Yee
Great place for events! We saw Odesza and loved the spaciousness. It felt like a festival.
Paul N
Always have nice people, occasional homeless people, but not usually more than 10 if you are going on an off time
Karissa Gutierrez
Went there for the 88rising's Head in the Clouds II Music Festival. Perfect spot to fit that many people.
Natalie
Veganland was held here last Saturday and it was spectacular!!
Gilberto Jimenez
Great place for a run or walk in the park and a great place for a family picnic. Dogs are well welcome and enjoy the long walks around the park. There are few idiots that take up the fresh air by smoking inside and around the park but other than that it is well worth your outdoor fun.
James Tuchel
Best park in DTLA! Some actual nice open green space right next to the city. So happy this exists.
Ed Leong
The State Park in Los Angeles is a great place to relax during the day. I usually go in the evenings to do my almost daily jog. I love going to parks to run as it relaxes me from the day's stress.
The park is operated by the State of California. Regardless of who maintains it, whether the City, County, or private, it's really clean with green pastures and water efficient plants.
The perimeter around the whole park is one mile. I dare to say that this park is probably the best in terms of maintenance wise.
Before the park, this location use to be railroad tracks filled with old boxed cars. We use to call it the graveyard for old trains! Thank goodness the eyesore became something useful!
Bora Buyuktimkin
Great dog friendly park close to downtown! It’s well-maintained and also has a nice diversity of green space within the park.
Ekaterina “Katia” Glass
The park is nice and clean. You can park either on the lot or look for a spot around. I would only suggest to plant more trees to provide more shade.
Devin D
Sometimes you have to find creative ways to see your favorite artist without standing amongst a crowd during a very serious pandemic. Luckily this year Smoove Grooves Festival sat amongst the Mountains...
Alexander Villarreal
Really an amazing spot in the middle of Center City Los Angeles. This park lifts you to another place if only for a moment. There are jogging trails and multiple tables in which you and yours can partake in lunch or early dinner. Kids fly there kites when wind is available. There are many guests who visit this clean and secured park daily. Hours are from dawn to dusk. Have fun.
Cecilia Garcia
I love taking Cachita for a great walk it's Fun outdoor activity 🥰🐾 …
Cesar Garcia
Google says it closes at 5 but it actually closes at sun down. Which is around 8 pm. Love this park
David Sternberg
Parking can be a challenge even during the pandemic, as the park offers many distinct areas that are great for folding chairs or blankets/towels. There are free parking side streets nearby, however. Easy access via the Metro, which runs along one side of the park. Ample trash cans, water fountains, and we'll maintained paths throughout.
Austin Lozano
One of the best parks in LA. Lots of open green space and great views of downtown.
Ken P
A lot of walking from parking. Looks like the best way to go is by train.
Olga Barragan
The most beautiful park I’ve been to in California. I am a native Californian born and raised in the heart of Boyle Heights. You’re able to walk, run, bike or just lounge at your leisure. Clean, handicap accessible with plenty of open space and trees.
J C
I remember growing up near by and this being a rail yard. Through the work of community members coming together and doing what is right for their community, the dream of a local state park was formed. My family and I went for a walk and it was very nice. It was full of families flying their kites, riding bikes, picnicking, and just hanging out. Surrounded by California native landscape. Totally recommend if you are in the area.
Hex C.
Lovely place for a stroll or walk. Wish it had more shade but the trees are still young. Maybe in the future it'll offer more shade.
Jesus Garcia
My go to Park. Is a big 30+ acre park and is always nice and clean well maintain. Conveniently located near the Chinatown metro gold line station. The view from the park to the downtown buildings is just amazing. They do have restrooms but sometimes they keep them close. Dogs are welcome and biking is too. They do have a parking lot, but you have to pay. If you want to park in the street you can do so, is not a problem. If you're thinking of having a picnic here your are more then welcome to. But if you are thinking of doing BBQ I think you need to ask for permission. There's a little area where you have tables and benches not too far from the entrance. Plenty of trees and small plants. Really awesome and clean park that's why I love this Park. So if you plan on coming remember pick up after you or if you bring your pet please also do.
carla tobias
Great for walks. Walking dogs, picnics, and gatherings. There is a local brewery. Also the cargo shack is in the park for great eats. Ample parking. The park is clean and well maintained. Great for running as well.
Scott Brady
Was there for a kite festival. Large park, very clean. Nice jogging track
Lucy Wiatrak
My studio borders the state park. It's a wonderful place to just take a walk or bring the family or fly a kite or fly your drone. For me a great place to get away and just relax.
Heavenly Rien Redmond
The park is beautiful. I'm new to LA so wanted to visit a park. There were ppl walking, sitting with friends on the grass. It's family and pet friendly and a police substation. My new favorite getaway
Alysha Grevious
Several restaurants near this park that we like to order take out from then have a picnic here. Lost of green grass, brand new bathrooms and a nice walking path for running or walking.
Valerie Biller
My favorite locations to watch Street Food Cinema. Bathrooms are clean, the park is beautiful, and the view does not disappoint.
Natalia Poveda
Such a great space! I been here to several and different events as well as picnics, gatherings or walking my dog. Great views and easy parking
Brian
Great experience overall, but parking was difficult.
sydney wen
Nice Venue for LA champagne runch, really fun and such a clean park!
Ron Woods
Beautiful park! We went for a kite festival last weekend. They had music and food trucks.
Jacquelyn
This place Is definitely a hidden gem. In all my 29 yrs if living in LA I did not know this place existed. Glad I found it. So clean and well maintained. Great place to relax. And did I mention the beautiful DTLA skyline view? To die for.
Jorge Mireles
Love this place. I run there and it's always clean and very peaceful if you come during the mid day. Weekends gets full but great place to exercise and bring the kids.
Jose Trevino
We had a fun ride to the top of the hill and paused for some photos. Nice park that gives a hell of a workout!!
miss agkou
I went for a festival it was cool an open area
Shaddy Safadi
Was here for 2 music events, both at night. Both were well run and the venue itself... the park that is, is an awesome place to see a show because it’s roomy and outside and there is a little hill out in front of the main stage that makes watching fun and relaxing. — not sure how it rates for a daytime park but for concerts is awesome (and generally don’t like concerts)
Paul S
This is a great place to exercise, work out, to take a decent walk or run! It has a nice view.
gotyellowmike
Lovely, relaxing stop off before I caught the train at Union Station. Mid March weather as expected. Thousands of butterflies at sunset was a great send off. The park does close at dark. Good for dogs, jogging, family fun. Pretty clean and stocked port-o-loos. People were friendly.
Wilson Orozco
This place has delicious food. They have a comfortable outdoor dining area. In the menu there are child friendly food and adult options. If you're in the Chinatown area or in need for a quick meal, Cargo Snack Shack is the place to go!
Mykole R
Had an awesome time with my girlfriend , we went for an office show event , just wished the staff had somewhat of a crowd control after the show since people where walking all over the parking lot,one could've easily gotten hit.
A.J. R
The park receives amazing sunlight. The sunset is amazing there as you have LAs skyline. I see a lot of people job within the park, it’s a pretty chill run/job. The grass itself is pretty well kept to have picnic or lay down.
Stanley Johnson
Amazing park!! It is HUGE! I've had dates, picnics, training sessions and bike rides here. They have had concerts and outdoor movies here. With Chinatown finally getting upgraded I'm happy to see the full utilization of this park
Jennifer C-K
This park feels clean and new, and while it won't stay new hopefully it will stay clean. It's ideal for concerts or similar events. I went for a music festival and it's large enough to accommodate multiple stages but still small enough to feel intimate and easy to navigate. I appreciate the important California/Los Angeles/immigrant history on the piece of land as well. It's mainly a wide open, flat grassy space, so the terrain isn't the most scenic, but it is a beautiful place for a picnic or show. Bonus: There is plenty of free street parking surrounding the park.
Dorisela Ortiz
Super clean and plenty of open green space. Many locals jog around the park, while others use the large grassy area to let their kids or dogs run around. The park does not have any playgrounds. Also, you make at pay to park. Plenty of street parking on weekends.
Andrew Y
one of my most favorite parks to run around and have picnics in. not a lot of tree coverage so might have to bring a canopy if you hate the sun.
Dan Pye
Great views of the downtown skyline, plenty of space to spread out for a picnic or a jog. Highland Park Brewing just across the street. This park is great!
Jeff G
Beautiful, peaceful, wonderful spaces both open and secluded available
Dex Deckers
This park is beautiful and clean. There's a spectacular view of downtown. Bathrooms are easily accessible and immaculate (as far as public restrooms go). It's $2 an hour to park in the lot, but there's also ample free parking just outside the lot. Dogs on leashes are allowed.
NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR ADVOCATES
Such a beautiful park. Great for walking or running. Although there's no playground, it's still very family friendly. Also, pet friendly but not everyone picks up after their pet 😐 …
Brent Lee
Loved this 🏞️ wide open, clean and everybody was so friendly, lots of room for dogs many meet n greets which made my dog very happy, this park is fairly new and has plenty of parking in it's lot or on the street across the street is brewery and there is a small burger place that serves mixed drinks, beer and win …
Juan E.
Very nice and clean large park with nice trails and lake green area to play soccer, football, exercise etc. Open during Covid. Must wear mask and respect social distancing rules but great space to exercise in the sun. Once all is better I plan on attending concerts and events here.
DeadRat Lives
Really nice park, very peaceful with very few people visiting at the hours I was there 11 am to 12:30 pm only some people jogging here and there and some couples. Restrooms were clean and water fountains were working. It is a new park the trees are not yet fully grown so there wasn't much shade. But overall it was a nice break from the commotion of Downtown La felt almost like I was on a farm.
Cbwicywb Ruxjwbfka
Beautiful new park with different sculptures. Many different places to sit and a public bathroom for park guests. There is also a good food option as there is a restaurant attached to the park.
Crystal Hertz
Went for cinespia ans it was great. Although being right in downtown I never knew it was there. Easily accessible by metro.
Mrs JD Romero
Serenity in the midst of chaos.
Shirley Hayes
Huge! This park is a fantastic place to walk, run or bike. Great especially if you have young children. Lots of room to run. Or you can just sit and people watch, read a book or chat with friends. Also great for dog walking. The landscaping is beautifully done. They also have regular events sponsored by the park that are free. It's located downtown in Chinatown. There is a lot of history to learn as well. It's a very safe environment and is always clean. Enjoy!
Jeremiah
Wonderful park just outside of DTLA. Great walking path around the perimeter (~1 mile). Wide open green space for picnics and exercising. Nice, well-maintained facilities with great views of the downtown skyline.
Jon Freeman
Large green area with view of the downtown skyline, close up
Raynard Ledford
Awesome park, clean great events
Henry Reed
If I could give this park 10 stars I would. Really walkable, huge park, lots of art installations and trees and big open grassy meadows to sit and hang. They have a little cafe that serves food and alcohol. There is parking attached to the park.
Daniel Hiek
The parking is a bit awful but that's expected for DTLA. The park is much improved and a lot nicer than other areas.
Juan Calderon
The park provides you with a wonderful view of the city. The park itself is big compared to most LA parks and super modern. It's a great place to relax, go for a walk, picnic or have a hangout. Parking is super convenient.
Fabiola Hungate
Big open space. We took our blankets and had a picnic. Wish there were more trees, so we could have some shade. Still, it is nice to enjoy the outdoors and still maintain social distance.
Victoria Marcucci
Very spacious and breezy. Can pick up food and drinks next door at highland park brewery. Enough space to spread out and away from others. Will bring bikes for my kids. Next time.
Al B
ZEDD in the park historical park Los Angeles ca. 2019 it was fantastic
Violet BF
This time I came here to watch a movie, and I had a great time. They usually hold events here. I guess because of its great location. It is a small park, but a very nice one. There's usually parking on the street. The views of the city during the day, and night are just amazing. I think this park has a romantic vibe to it. Maybe that's why I've always seen mostly couples here.
Freddz “FRaNaDT1” Garciaa
I love this place because it has a big space to run around or to get a nap or picnic under the trees.
Jessica Louise
I loved the park before the remodel however it's really nice now. There are free events weekly, dogs are allowed on leash, running track, lots of places to sit and ponder your next move. Parking is not free but there is usually a ton of street parking although state parks need your support and that parking money probably helps fund some of those free events and park employees 🤷😘♥️
Walter Leiva
Wonderful park to get you of the comfort zone
Jason Longo
Amazing Park! I went for Mass mediation aka “Disclosure Fest”. It is a free event entry fee donations only. The park is much larger than I expected. The restrooms are new and updated. The fence around the park is secure and safe. You can let your dog and kids run wild!
MasterJaywhy FromTheStreet
Time machine in the 90's how can I forget I used to walk to this park as well when we lived in this area. I hope you guys are keeping this park good & clean for everyone. Be good to everyone & stay well one love ^_^
Jose Arzate
Quite a nice place to come out!
Carolina Thoenes
A nice and clean park and possibly the last open space until you reach the coast. Snacks, drinks and clean restrooms are available.
Brian Kim
I just ride by and every time I do, I like it more and more.
Octave Barreau
There are paved paths for my kids to ride bikes or skate, & good running trails with nice scenery for me. This park has wide open spaces to play catch or fly kites. Fruit trees, clean bathrooms, security & ample parking make it one of my family's favorites.
Lance
Awesome little escape from the city, within the city just off the Chinatown gold line. Dogs are allowed (on leash). They close at sunset so be sure to plan wisely especially during shorter winter months.
Liz Jones
I took my bunny for a stroll and a picnic here, and it was so beautiful! There are little hideaway spots in this park where you can feel like you are on a private vacation! I will definitely be back! ☀️🌻💜🙏 …
Zuizy I
It's a BEAUTIFUL little gem near downtown
Bianca Cifuentes
Beautiful park with several fruit trees. You can take the gold line and it's like a 5 min walk from the Chinatown stop. They offer free bilingual yoga on Saturday mornings, lots of people out jogging, riding bikes, roller skating, and there are a couple places to have lunch across the street.
Vahagn Karapetyan
I had no idea this park even existed. It's so big compared to all the other small parks in downtown.
A Dedeaux
Great events every weekend with many vendors selling arts and craft. Music, fun, and eating along the walk.
Jamei
Beautiful view of downtown from this park.
Karla Mejia
They re-opened this park earlier this year after having it closed for a couple of years to remodel. They did a beautiful job with a dirt walking circle along with a cement walking/running trail around the whole park. With water friendly plants throughout and plenty of free parking outside the park, its a nice green space amongst the concrete jungle.
Lisa Reeber
Another green and open space in LA is always desirable. This park is nicely landscaped. With young trees, however, there is no shade. Always bring sunscreen. When finished, it will be a wonderful location for small festivals. The food stands and bathrooms have not been completed yet.
isabel lopez
Great park, lots of dogs, plenty of space, grass, paths and Views of dtla.. nice place for a picnic, run, walk with the dog or place to workout outdoors with plenty of social distancing space. Love the park.. go to the bathroom prior though..
Edwin El Magico
Good place to get away in the middle of the city
Amber Clemons
A beautiful park in the middle of the city. Most people come here too exercise and walk their dogs. I love taking my son here because he can run around the huge grass areas. There isn't much shade here but I can see the trees are all small still and once they're larger there will be plenty of shade!
Michael Reed
Vegandale Festival. Great food, good people.
Danny Hamm
I have been here for 2 separate festivals and both were well run. There is a ton of land so you never feel overwhelmed. The spread out set allows for you to wonder around and once something grabs your attention you can focus on just that. Since it is outdoors you can just soak up some rays, enjoy the view, or take part in the experience. Parking may be an issue so I would recommend taking an Uber. After the event there is always some kind of after party going on or you can walk to some Asian restaurants nearby. This is a great venue for an event and I recommend checking out.
Sergio Arellano
Truly awesome park in LA!
Mey Ruano
Beautiful place for the whole family to hang and walk around. Perfect for running, working out and biking. Outdoor adventures. Plenty of pay for parking. Restrooms only portable potties no place to wash your hands.
Beautiful
Toph L (Tofu Gaming)
Nicest park I have ever visited. Well maintained too. Check out Cargo Snack Shack for drinks and snacks!
Nestor Varela
Amazing nature vibes. Ignore the outside and just enjoy this clean park. I do enjoy taking a nap here or just eating lunch. A must visit for parks.
James Gee
I like coming here for a walk to clear my mind after daily 420 session
luis jimenez
Awesome please for a windy walk
With LA skyline as a backdrop.
After not seen that view for bout ten years ,it's just great to b in the area
Brenda Rodriguez
Nice open park near the the gold line stop.
Sean Waggoner
Los Angeles State Historical park is beautiful, and has a lot of open space. Clean facilities and great views. I attended Disclosure Fest there and it was the perfect venue, the state park rangers were very helpful and friendly. There was a good amount of parking and it's very easy to find. It has been recently renovated in fact they were still doing some of the improvements. Dog friendly and great place for a picnic or bbq.
Justo Diaz
If you have kids that are... What's the word? Oh yah, energetic! Then this is the park for you. It's large with small hills and lots of grass to run around on. It also has paths for wheels. Events here are also top notch. We do not live close by, but make the trek just to have fun here. Highly recommend it. Bathrooms are not great, so this place missed a 5 🌟 review.
Vinko K
Very nice and clean place near Chinatown in LA , I visited during disclosure festival , that was awesome 👍🥰✌👍🥰 …
Lizette Chavez
Great spot for a jog or a walk. Lots of families enjoying their day with floor Picnics.
paul guzman
Nice place to walk your dog, have a picnic and just relax.
Felis Stella
It's still a baby. It will feel more like a park once the trees reach mature size. Not a lot of shade yet. But a lovely young park.
Dennis Cruz
I ordered the chicken tacos and cauliflower side dish. Both were tasty. The ceviche was so good that one guest ordered her own after being offered a taste from the person next to her. Several guests ordered and enjoyed margaritas. One of my friends is very particular about her wine and was offered a sample - which led to a few glasses being ordered it was that good.
Mike Lynn
Perfect place to walk your dog, or go for a short run... especially on a weekend morning. Bonus- it's right across from the best brunch place in LA!
Monika Petroczy
I went to disclose your fest here with my friends and I was very impressed with how nice the park is. Beautiful landscaping and bathrooms and the like. The only bummer was that there’s a super long fence and you can’t get it out of the park except for the long walk between both ends but if you don’t mind a quarter mile between entrances it’s all good
Glenn Robins
My visit was business and I did not explore the park on foot but, had a view of the entire park from above from a nearby construction staging lot. The park looked well designed, clean and had lots of open spaces. The nearby train tracks and occasional train or Metrorail added to the parks ambiance and gave a slight rustic feel to the background. I look forward to visiting and exploring in person on day. 4 out of 5 stars because it wasn't occupied and I'm not sure if it attracts or repells visitors based on its location.
Angel
An excellent park just to go relax, meditate, walk, jog, walk your dog (must be on a leash), learn a little bit of the history on how the city of Los Angeles was founded, ride your bike, have a quiet picnic with benches here and there. The park is very well maintained and very peaceful with a Zen Garden feeling, clean bathrooms with park rangers present, parking available. Not a park for BBQ 's and/or parties, no children's playground available.
Onyx C
A beautiful and scenic park. Parking here is 2/hr or 4 dollars for all day. Portapotties are available. There aren't places to wash hands but they do provide hand sanitizer.
Princess Bella
Best park on LA! So clean and spacious. I flew my drone out here. There’s a wonderful skyline view of dtla. Family friendly ! Deff recommend ❤️

A great park for moving cultivation. But Elysian is better for meditation, even the moving arts(Qi gong, Tai chi, martial arts) as well.
Mark F
Lots of room, close to rail, and a good amount of parking. Great spot to run, bring your dog (on a leash), or sit/lay out and enjoy some sun. Great addition to the area.
Armando Lopez
I wanted to stop in and have lunch. The problem was they charge for entrance and parking. It seems a little much to pay for a quick lunch in my car. I drive-by the place all the time and it's always empty. If they relaxed the parking fee I'm sure they would have more people frequent the park. On the plus side I didn't see any transients bothering people. It's too bad you have to pay money to go to the public park.
mike Thecritic
Its OK when you would like to get out. But its becoming a bit frustrating when you want to enjoy all the different plants on display, and some photo studio or movie production has the areas occupied.
O T
Nice small park to chill with a cafe to get food. Nice bathrooms. There is a fee for the convenience of parking right next to the park. But street parking is available.

They just reopened the park a week ago, it looks gorgeous! Actual bathrooms, grass is fresh and pretty. I was there to see La La Land in the park with Street Food Cinema, and there were tons of food trucks! I'd definitely go for another movie night in the park!
Helli Meneses
Fun place to run around bad for bathrooms
Adam David Narito
This Is The Best Park to visit when you wanna have fun with the person your with; while at the same time, you feel compelled to take advantage of the private restroom facilities. Perhaps the two goals can be shared? Don't be scared, a little G never hurt nobody.
Sterling Rock
One of the best kept secret urban park in LA. The state historic park tuck away near highland park is clean, beautiful, spacious and a mix of modern and natural landscape.
Denise Woods
Went for the Smoking Groves concert... Great set up with two main stages, very organized... Good times!
Brianne Rogers
I love this little venue. It's basically a big strip of grass, and it's pretty intimate for an outdoor venue. I just saw Odesza here, and it was amazing, of course, and then I've also been to FYF here years ago. Always a cool venue. Love whenever there are shows here:)
Tony Gage
I never knew this was here! There is both street and park parking, but it costs inside the park. Not large, but big enough for some nice walking. Tables to eat at, restroom, vending machines.
Simon Lau
Beautiful California State Park. Parking is available in the large lot with a kiosk selling parking fares. Restrooms are available. Great place to just enjoy the outdoors.

Los Angeles State Historic ParkrSo easy to find just north of Chinatown
It was closed for a while to extensively renovate and reimagine the space and they did an incredible job.
Gold Line light rail exit Chinatown and it's a short walk to the south end of the park.
If you drive, there is alot of street parking along Spring, the eastern border of the park which on weekends isn't as readily available than on a weekday afternoon. There is also an entrance to a modest pay parking lot within the park. The fees aren't outrageous.
Big wide open fields of native So Cal vegetation, clean restrooms, water fountains, multiple walk/run paths, dogs allowed and must be kept on a leash, great views of downtown Los Angeles, and a bridge to nowhere but it is a great feature and a perfect photo moment location.
I was there on a weekday afternoon and it felt truly empty. Some people picnicking under a tree, a few runners doing laps around the park, a family of four with toddlers, and a few others with their dogs enjoying the big fields, hills, and the relative peace and quiet of a wonderful public park that LA should feel proud of! Worth the visit! You will be very impressed!
Nallely Paz
Beautiful park. Only complaint I have is there are no public restrooms, only heavily used porta-potties without any hand wash station. You have to "rinse your hands in the water fountain" as I was told. I'm concerned for the public health problem that this might cause.
Samantha Gravity
What a great spot! Went for a Street Food Cinema screening, and the setting was absolutely perfect. With the skyline in the distance and the train rolling by, the experience felt almost like an illustration in a children's book. Worth a visit!
Jose Antonio Jr Iniguez
I participated in the One Life Walk LA. I prayed two whole Rosaries and a Chaplet of Divine Mercy on the walk. Lots of beautiful people gathered for what matters most...Life. The park was excellent. I just wish there were more trees.
Leticia Celis
There is so much to do her, ride bikes, scooters, play ball, picnic. My kids love it her. We also meet here with our Girl Scout troop.
Amarachi Nwachukwu
Nice place for some outdoor exercise. Great view of the DTLA skyline. Kept clean by the staff who are constantly trimming grass, trees and watering the plants.
Mr Beluga
It is a very nice place to hang out with a spectacular view of Downtown Los Angeles and city hall. It is a great place to explore and jog, bike, and wall around its paths. There isn't anything to do here other than explore
Snail Tek
Good location for walking your dog.
Jesus Moreno
Really well taken care of with a nice view of downtown. Nice park to take your dog for a walk and maybe even play fetch on the grass.
Yomi Adeyemi
We all love L.A for its beautiful scenery, and there's plenty of that here.
Moonshine5150 BlackAnarchyKings
Great place for music festivals
Nicholas Franco
Beautiful park. Went to a show here and it was very clean with a lot of room and great architecture and landscaping!
Netza Juarez
Very nice place,it's awesome how the trees are growing up, I remember 10 years ago when a crossed around there it looks like a desert.
Michael Tarkington
It's ok. Lots of wide open spaces. That's good for being in the middle of downtown. No playground. No exercise equipment. Trees are very small but it's a brand new park so it will take some time.
julio Espino
I remember when this was not a park but a dumping ground of trash. It took a while but the transformation to the present day park we see today. The only thing I dont like about the wide open park. I cant fly my drone at 5am when it is completely empty
JR Curley
This beautiful park is home to many, many events and concerts. A large grassy area that goes from the SW to NE, there are walking paths, small bridges and more. A great place to just sit back and relax - even though you're deep in the city - you can loose yourself in the serenity. For concerts, parking can get pretty rough. I suggest you look for street parking first, which can be down some fairly sketchy side roads. Security for concerts is good, with plenty of restroom facilities and a large space dedicated to merch. The sound is good, just know it can get pretty chilly at night!
Laura Gustafson
Great dog friendly spot in the city! There is street parking on Spring St or $5 flat rate parking nearby in Mandarin Plaza. Adjacent to gold line Chinatown stop. Plenty of grass, benches, dirt/gravel walking trails, and trees with shade. Highly recommend for a picnic, lawn games, and/or relaxing!

Good place for walks, runs, or relaxing outdoors. Only downside is the big events they have here.

Smh Tree
Went to DOTD. Very well organized. Lost of space didn’t feel small at all.

It's a great park to go to but I went two times already for the OneLife LA walk and it's great
Maddam Strange
The parks the shape of an eyebrow! this park raises eye brows!!! /:) hey mayor Garcetti build a gosh darn cross walk!! Think of the children!!! It’s a park for the community. It’s a hidden gem of Los Angeles to come and visit it’s the most well maintained park I’ve ever visited and the rangers will talk to you for days!! their amazing people who protect our state parks.
Guy
A shining example of community initiative with soft rolling grass hills, a gentle walking path, and native landscaping that make for a lovely family picnic spot
Paola Castellanos
It is well kept and has a beautiful downtown l.a. background. Dogs are welcome on a leash only. People were very respectful in keeping their distance from others.
AnnaMae Hanna
Well maintained...peaceful and quiet
Taron Broadnax
It's a very well thought out conception, very progressive in it's design as it is suited for many outdoor activities for all to enjoy. Walking, jogging, bike riding... you name it! Picnicking, a quiet out of the way place to have a sack lunch that's conveniently close to downtown, Chinatown, Lincoln Heights and other neighborhoods in central LA, one need only rely on their creativity to come up with activities to enjoy this safe, family friendly respite from the hectic pace of a vibrant city beat! There are also many restaurants close for the park goers convenience and it's accessable via Metro conveyances so put this on your list of places to gain a different perspective on downtown and all it has to offer!
Bryan H
A great place to jog, walk or have a picnic. As it is a California State Park it is staffed by park rangers who vigilantly keep it pristine. You will never find public park bathrooms as clean as this anywhere else in the city! The jogging loop is about 1.1 miles long. Indigenous plants (ie. wildflowers) give the place a local flavor and maybe a vague idea of what things were like before the city was colonized. The park could use a bit more shade but I'm sure that will improve as the many trees they planted during the renovation grow and mature.
Parking is paid but you can usually find street parking nearby unless there is a huge event it something going on. Finally, it would be nice if the bathrooms had baby changing tables but again, these are the finest bathrooms you'll ever see at a public park.
Gerry Villa
We had a fundraising event at this location and viewed more inconvenient truth, under the stars with great food from a few choice fusion food trucks awesome microbrews and great progressive people. It would've been a 5 star rating if it weren't for the metro the kept coming and going for what seemed like every five minutes. Other than that, the entire evening was great
Scott Taryle
This beautiful and very large swath of eco-friendly green space with terrific views of the downtown skyline is a joggers dream come true. The park reopened on April 22, 2014 after a three-year renovation. One problem - - not enough shade. But that will change as the newly planted trees grow.
EMMANUEL Ornelas
Love everything minus having to pay for parking…
Christopher Chavez
Beautiful location; well worth a trip if your a photographer.
Brian Snyder
This park is amazing. It's big enough to play games, like Frisbee. Lots of walking paths. Extremely well taken care of. Beautiful. The bathrooms are 6-star. I love this park.
Victor Colorado
So clean
So quit to have a great day
Leigh Goodwin, MBA, MAcc
Nice park. All types of people visit. Good place to run, jump rope, walk or do push ups.
Historic Chinatown is one block away. Clean water fountains.
Dave Flores
Just started to go there very clean for it's surroundings really beautifies area. I well continue to go good place to walk or jog. Dog friendly you do pay for parking.
Maria Cqhvn
Great place to hike. Just don't come here during 12pm on a hot day. It get too Hot! bring plenty of water if you do because this trail has no shade.
Ben X
Open field huge Oval dirt Track. Clean and All Age, Color and Sizes Visitors, Hosts Much Festivals. Very New Finished Park!!! PLEASANT Very Convinced for Returning visits.
vanessa cardenas
Great views of downtown. Kids love having a picnic and flying kites here. Definitely a zen peaceful place in the city to come and decompress.
Fairy Boy
The park is nice and well kept. It was mostly empty from 1-3 and around 4-6 more people showed up.
Roshelle Dixon
Another hidden treasure in LA I knew nothing about. Great place. Definitely enjoyed myself!
Don P
The greatest and the cleanest park in LA.
Joshua Johnson
Went to a concert here. It was amazing! Great venue for the event!
Lisa MT
Beautiful new (2nd time new) park on the outskirts of downtown Los Angeles. Went to a Food Truck Cinema and it was really a great spot for our afternoon into evening activity. Can't wait to go back to enjoy this lovely park.
W. “Ruba” Ruba
City of L.A. is in the process to building our own Central Park, yes like NY and so far its growing on me. What I like is the open space, a walking/running path, dogs have to stay on a leash & restroom are very clean (pre-covid), the best part you can take the L= Gold Line there to avoid parking fees. Actually, it may cost the same unless you have a metro pass, right! lol
David Mata
Awesome park . big wide open space. Nice jogging track. Lots of facilities. Green grass. Such a cool blessing to have in down town L.A., needs more trees.
Elizabeth Chavez
This park keeps getting better with time. A short drive from Boyle Heights. Park feel with a city view. Great place to picnic or workout outdoors.
fernando ramirez
this has always been a great spot to come and take a walk around in. a couple years ago they shut it down and remade it which was a great idea. they should more with it and make it even better. you have a great view of the city and are only a couple steps away from the metro light rail
Jeannette G.
I had the pleasure of attending the grand re-opening of LASHP which was a fun-filled day of activities and dignitaries. Two months later though, the part is still not completed. You can see where sod is still being placed and already cables on the bridge have been broken. I just hope the city does not allow it to get run down by over permitting concert-like events. Additionally, kids should not be riding their bikes on the grass; there are paved and marked paths for this. Great open space in the middle of the city for kite flying.
Denise Lulu
Beautiful, clean modern. Great for family time, kids, partners. Picnic, running.
Steven Lemos
Who knew there was such a beautiful green space so close to downtown? This park is just amazing. I came hear for a summer outdoor movie night event, but I will be coming back here to just enjoy the park...and the amazing view of downtown.
Tochi Obi
It is so beautiful and it had some many cultural events it so wonderful and was able to witness a commercial taking place wanted to apply to be a model but they were full it was annoying but anyways the park is lovely the only way to truly know is by going and checking out yourself
Joseph Richert
Plenty of open green space. Good view of downtown. Dirt path around the park - great for running. Not too busy. Make sure there isn't an event going on.
Sheperd
I wish they finish fixing this park soon. This was a great location for hard summer. You can see the metro pass by which is cool. When it opens it will have a bridge. You can clearly see the LA skyline from here. Right next door is China town.
Steven A. Hernandez
The best park in Los Angeles for so many reasons!
Jessy M
This park has lots of space for relaxation, exercise and events went here for a Bob Baker Event the only downside didn't see any public restrooms only porta potties.
Mary McFadden
Nice place for walkers, runners, children and walking dogs.
Ric Staff
It is a very good place to get away from corona 19.
Zip Zop
The renovation has brought new life to the park, creating a unique open space for large gatherings, day or night. A grass-filled, nature-rich park, in the middle of the concrete jungle that is downtown LA.
Remy Malik
This is what LA can be all about it! Here there is fresh grass, trees, and a reservoir for water. I dream that LA can grow to look like this outside of this park, and that more spaces like this are provided. It's my favorite place to go running in the city rn.
Nataly Abou mousa
nice place for concerts and all kind of celebrations but food is very expensive
Nick Rohe
Excellent venue for a music festival!
Mia Austin Hayes - Elmore
So clean there! So the Shack spot in the park , is totally wassup and margaritas a good deal 8! And restrooms , totally clean !
Daniel Ayala
A beautiful park to spend the afternoon. The only real issue with this park is the lack of shade. So don't come here in a super hot sunny day. Come on a cool cloudy day.
Diana Macias
This park is great for walking, running, strolling and hanging out. It is also super close to the Chinatown Metro Station. No playground for kids but plenty of open space for them to run around!
Victor Diego
very clean end nice place to go.
Sam Varadarajan
Good to have another park in town. But needs to improve a lot. Heard they had long legal battle to get here. But this can no way become Central park of LA, as it was dubbed. Particularly when the officials are pouring into grand park.
Proximity to China town train station is a good thing. I wish they extended it all the way to the river.
Adriana Lopez
Beautiful place to go for a walk with your family. Only have to pay for parking like 1.00 per hour. Not too bad.
immaculate conception tattoo
Lovely. Great local flora, laid out in a lovely, minimalist, modern and classic design. "Day use" state park parking fee is a little silly in the middle of the city, though. Take the gold line to Chinatown station and walk a block instead.
Lisa Hasegawa
Love taking walks here. Followed by brunch at Nick's across the street or homegirl diner...perfect weekend morning!
lxxney ig
Places was clean! Mask are optional, no one bother to tell me to put my mask on. Come on, it's 7am... No sick person would come out and walk during these hours.
Y. Guti.
This is a nice chill open space to walk or have a small picnic. Super clean and spacious. There’s parking but it’s metered.
Maria Martinez
88 Festiva awesome place to came
Nancy Elias
First time since the big renovation to this historic park. Kids loved it. Once we were leaving one of them asks, "can we come back?" 10/10 will come again!
Jessica Martinez
Family friendly park, they have lot of variety events here
Alexandria Miller
This park is awesome, in the heart of Chinatown! The loop is 1.25 miles, scenery is great for photography!
Luke Thayer
A beautiful little been in East Los Angeles with a beautiful scenic bridge and overlook.
Eric Lowenbach
This new park is a beautiful open green place to spend time right in the heart of Los Angeles. It's a gift to us from the State of California and the strident efforts of the local community who fought to keep it from becoming a bunch of warehouses, which was originally what was going to happen here. For those complaining that it doesn't have playgrounds or exercise equipment, this is a California State Historic Park. No state parks have playgrounds or exercise equipment. State Parks are like National Parks. Do you go to Yosemite and complain there are no swing sets? State parks have a different mission than your local city park. Enjoy it for what it is! There are plenty of non-historic, non-state parks for you to go to to swing and do pushups. This place is a jewel.
Mario Davila
Really spacious and open park. Lots of vendors and activity on Sundays.
N S
Went there for the Renegade Craft Fair and it was very nice. Plenty of beautiful jewelry and pottery, cute locally made kids' clothing and pretty dresses. A bit pricey!
David
We need 10 more versions of this park throughout the city.
Isaac Martinez
Lots of room for running or riding bikes. Cool restaurants and business up the street in China town for after the work out.
Jay Ammon
This is a beautiful and peaceful state park in a small corner of just outside of downtown Los Angeles, California, in the neighboring locality just past Chinatown. The park opened a couple of years ago, or so, and it features a running and walking path, a little library, on-site rangers, many cultural and local social events, nightlife (sometimes), and it's an all-around beautiful experience during a common weekday.
Given all things said, it's a powerful vantage point of perspective upon the majestic Downtown Los Angeles California Civic center developments that go on, and an insightful and quiet-minded person could find this spot an unprecedented location for filling in the mysteries of the vastness of the concrete jungle that is Los Angeles.
It's somewhat "cliquey," if the would-doers would give it nurturing as much as claimstaking the location as for what it is, and should be: a reservation of state land in an area with a burgeoning watershed program of parks and rivers that merits a dueful respect for sustainability; obviously, as one of the primary purposes of having this place designated as a state park. Tonight, the Crystal Method (music artist) is playing there; perhaps I'll check it out, from the outside of the park.
David Mejia
Once the trees get bigger, this will be an amazing park
Rick Hinojos
Very cool place . It's still the cornfield to me..
Caty Wagner
Awesome place, very clean and well maintained, but too much grass for a drought
Flavio T
Clean park but hard to find any shade
Major Dick
Los Angeles State Historic Park (LASHP) is within the Chinatown neighborhood of LA. Also known as the Cornfield, the former brownfield consists of a long open space between Spring Street and the tracks of the Metro Gold Line. Located outside the main commercial and residential area in the northeast portion of Chinatown, the area is adjacent and southeast of the Elysian Park neighborhood.
This former site of the Southern Pacific Transportation Company's River Station (1876−1901) is considered the "Ellis Island of Los Angeles" where new arrivals from the east first disembarked. Corn leaking from train cars and sprouting along the tracks gave rise to the nickname The Cornfield. The 32-acre (13 ha) site was established as a California state park in 2001. It is also part of the overflow creek bed of the original LA river.
Panda Kun
I visit the place about a week after they opened. (on Earth Day I think..) There were still some areas they were working on. Hopefully they incorporated some water feature to the park and that they extended to connect with LA River. But for now it will be my additional place to walk in the morning and evening.
Henry Arreola
We visited this park several nights for the street food cinema out door movies. Great venue for these events.
Michael Gardiol
Really great space for recreation or relaxing.
Paula K. Shimatsu-U.
It's the first time I was at this park. It was for a very spiritual and healing event and is easily accessed by public transportation, is kept up beautifully well and clean with great support from the employees who care for this park.
smith surasmith
Spacious, well maintained. Paid parking. Like it for walks. Not crowded. Great view of downtown.
Hailey O
Great park to go biking, for a walk, or just to take a nap on the grass.
