Reviews of Spring Mountain Ranch State Park

Visited Spring Mountain Ranch on a Thursday in May. The weather was sunny with an occasional cool breeze, 66 degrees. Paid a $10 fee to enter the grounds. Parked our car then went into the house and was treated to a nice historical overview of the property and its ownership by a docent. Property was previously owned by Vera Krupp (think Krupp diamonds) and Howard Hughes (though Hughes never occupied it) among others. She later took us on a tour of the otherwise off limits portions of the house. Interesting house design and appointments but certainly not over the top. Went into the gift shop and purchased some reasonably priced souvenirs. Exited the house and proceeded to walk the nearby hiking trails. Tons of scenic beauty to take in, including mountains, wildlife (burros, lizards, coots, etc.). Hiked to the large lake on the property then turned around and headed to the car. Overall, this was a nice experience and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an outdoor experience with breathtaking scenery. If into hiking, you could make a challenging day of it by hiking further up into the mountains.

Cute place to let the kids run around. I recommend packing a little picnic and lots of cold drinks. Pretty cool scenery and best trails if you are up for them. The ranch has so much history. It was fun to explore.
Álvaro González
Great place to go for a walk, even in the winter time, but very restrictive. There are fences everywhere to keep you on the paths!! Fences are fine, but with fences, photography is very restricted, unless you want man-made barriers in your natural setting. If you are trying to look at aquatic wildlife, forget it since the fences will keep you so far back that even a long lens will not do it.
Karly H (Exploring the lakes!)
Not going to lie, this place is better then any other trails in the area. Great for people who love birds. It is 10 to get in but so worth it. New favorite hiking spot in the area. Also don’t need reservations.

If you’re looking for a nice quiet place to take a stroll, a shaded grassy pasture for a picnic, and some history about the area, then this is the place for you.
The first stop is the visitor center, which is an old house that the previous owners lived in. There is some interesting information about the property dating back to the 1800’s with pictures and other small items from that era. A small shop too—where you can buy souvenirs, or some snacks and drinks.
When you’re ready to hit the trail, take the overlook trail. A short hike up to a nice viewpoint and .8 miles in total. All the trails seem to be loops, which is nice.
When you’ve got your steps in, relax in the shade on the nice grass covered picnic area. Have lunch before heading out.
Overall this is a nice place to visit once in a while for a couple hours. The only negative is the hefty $15.00 entrance fee. That’s hard to accept considering Red Rock is down the road and costs the same amount.
Candace Billups
I loved the trails. It was beautiful out there. From the road you would never believe how beautiful the park was. The park rangers were super nice. It was so cool to go inside the ranch. It was once owned by Howard Hughes.
Jessica Lasconia
What a gem of a find. Who knew that this beautiful scenery existed in Las Vegas. If you love nature and hiking this is a good short walk. The Ranch House on the property is the visitor center which is opened to the public. They have a small gift shop and a little history behind the entire park.
Ashley Putman
Great place to spend the day hiking around or have a picnic. The staff in the main house were super friendly and fun to talk with. We only did one hike but it was absolutely beautiful. Definitely worth the visit.

Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is an amazing place! There's an entry fee per vehicle of $15 for non-locals and $10 for locals. There is a shaded picnic area with several tables and a large green grass lawn area, great for picnics and bbqs. This place is great for just relaxing and enjoying the serenity or if you like hiking, there are several hiking trails to explore.
Debbie Miley
Wonderful, easy, beautiful hikes all around the ranch house visitor center. Great history and information. Perfect place for a summer evening while attending the Super Summer Theater, outdoor theater performances.
Pete Stolle
A wonderful Oasis in the desert.. Lots of greenery And some great hiking trails. You can hike up to the lake which is protecting indangered wildlife. It is usually ten to 15゚ cooler than in the city.
Michelle Ayala
It's great for a day trip from Las Vegas. It will take about a half hour to get here and cost $10 to get in the park. There are bathrooms and a carriage house to tour. There is WiFi and picnic areas with lots of shade. It's about 10 degrees cooler here than in the Valley. You should go!
g makian
Absolutely beautiful. I found this randomly while out for a drive to clear my head during a mental health day. I got there about 2 hours before closing and just sitting and watching the burros and rabbits and breathing in the fresh air did wonders for me. I would recommend going here if you are having a bad day and just relax in nature.
Cheri Johnson
So peaceful and beautiful here. Feels like you are so far away form any city. I am so glad we got the yearly pass. Now we can come for a picnic or a walk whenever we want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Dont get me wrong, I love seeing the strip and parts of Las Vegas are so nice but this is a treat. The Red Rock scenic loop is pretty but this has green grass and a serene feel.
Anlu Mar
It's so beautiful, plenty of rangers greeting. The best ranger is Joshua, i didn't get his last name but he was letting people in and out of the ranch house. He was so friendly. They all are really! Some amazing hike views and the trails very well marked. Will be going back when the temperature gets cooler!
Gytė Šuliokaitė
What a lovely hiking area and park it is. There are several trails suitable for everyone. Picnic area, kids zones, restrooms, etc. Recommending to visit
Scott Burgess
Spring mountain ranch State Park is a fun place to explore. Lots of History, hiking trail available, lots of places to set up and have a picnic or throw a ball around. Locals can get in for $10 with a Nevada license vehicle for everyone else it's $15. Wild burrows frequent the area though in our visit we did not see any except for the one in a fenced-in area, nevertheless he was beautiful. The views from the park are phenomenal, many photo opportunities. Looking to get out and enjoy a wonderful day, why not visit?
Carlos Rodriguez
Oh what a joy, what a gem! We been in Vegas for 7 months, and came here for the first time. What a beautiful place to escape too! We will be back
Bree Kressly
Very cool park! They have a cemetery here with the founding family members. Great views and neat history!
jack watson
Fun place to bring the family for a day outdoors. Trails do not require high level of experience and there is a very large grass area for all sorts of activities such as picnics and much more. We had some fall family photos taken there as well, which lends to the great scenery at Spring Mtn. Don’t forget that this park requires an admission fee.
Diane Lanken
My kids took me here before I flew out from Nevada. I found it a happy place and a beautiful oasis. Very interesting history.
Guy Anonymous 2.0
Short trails that are well maintained. More of a leg stretch than a hike, but a nice spot to check off.
Liz A.
Great afternoon spot to see green grass in Vegas. Trail can be super hot so bring plenty of water.
Kourtney Zurek
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is a wonderful hidden treasure on the outskirts of Las Vegas. The kids love visiting because there is a giant open field for them to run and play in and huge shade trees to take a break and cool off under before heading back out for more fun.
William Shevchuk
Beautiful, green and tranquil place to spend the afternoon. Great views, nice weather, beautiful scenery.
William Núñez
The atmosphere is great! It’s definitely a one of a kind outdoors park to visit, highly recommend to anyone to visit!
Howard Rubin
Great history and nature experience away from Red Rock crowds and just down the road. Trails are short but interesting and green pastures with grazing burrows a treat. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Carlos Alvarado
Enjoy the trails and check out the property. Just beautiful.
Jolene Stratton
WARNING- DO NOT BE LATE TO THE MOVIE! You will not be let in... regardless of whether your group is already there!
The ranger in charge of the movie was fabulous and the place was beautiful, but the supervisor ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful night!
Did not know that at 8pm they lock the gate and don't allow admittance to anyone. My friend got held up at work and was late- the supervisor on duty at the gate refused to let him in. I had the blanket spread out with other friends, snacks, drinks, the works, for a perfect beautiful evening in the scenic outdoors!
When I got the text from my friend at the gate, that he eased not allowed to enter, I asked the ranger in our group who then readied the supervisor on my behalf to ask for my friend to be let in. The supervisor refused him also, so I gathered my armload of supplies, got in my car and drove to the gate hoping my friend could come back with me in my car. The supervisor would not allow that nor would he let my friend follow me back into the park. He says it would be discrimination if he let my friend in and not others..I reminded him there were about 20 people that night, unlike peak season when there are hundreds!
I asked if he would change his mind one last time to which he said of course not. He did offer me a free night another time and even one for my friend, but that didn't help for that night, and what is $20 parking donation to the beautiful park?
I get rules, but of the football sized meadow, there were only 5 groups of people... maybe 20 in total? I believe the management decision in this case was poorly made... the beautiful place was dead empty and after a 30 minute drive out there, we were both heartbroken!!
Yeyen Rodriguez
A quaint place of historical story, a great day to spend part of the day for an easy hike.
Grilling still allowed using propane ones, charcoal or wood not allowed. You have to bring your own propane grill.
Katrina Richards
A great little hidden gem. One of the walking trails was stroller accessible so we were able to take our little one on it. We had a great time. The scenery was beautiful and the staff were amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
juan Castillo
is so peaceful and beautiful .
perfect place to relax.
I will recommend bring some good food and drinks. is perfect for a picnic
Rebel Campbell
The staff & Rangers are very helpful. Bathrooms, not so clean, bring your own tissue just in case. The grounds are clean. The trails are nice & easier going up. Careful to watch your step going down. Took my dog he had a good time. I would go again.
Lauren Wortman
It's not Red Rock Canyon (just up the road), but it is nice! We went in December, and my favorite trail was the Ashe Grove. I never realized how fragrant desert plants can be, even in the winter. We didn't see any wildlife, but there was "evidence" of it all over the trails.
Nykole Bloore
Beautiful place for a small hiking retreat!
Shannon Aylestock
The ranch it’s self was amazing. The tour of the home was also great. Great place to have a picnic and spend quality time with the family. The only reason I did not leave a 5 star review was because the gift shop lady was very rude & not pleasant at all. You can tell she is not happy to be there.
Gregg Christopher Lavarias
What a beautiful hidden gem in the outskirts of LV! My family and I were exploring one day and came upon this place unexpectedly. Luckily I listened to my wifeto check it out for it was truly serine and beautiful. There was an event the day we went and the booths had kid friendly events. Events occur year round so we plan to head back for the holidays :)
Gigi Anderson
Another off the strip place to visit in Vegas that is beautiful and full of fabulous nature. While the house and history is cool, the land with the walking trails around the property are the real star of the show! Feeling the sun, listening to the wind in the trees and the birds (and no other noise pollution), and enjoying the fresh air is WELL worth the price to enter the state park. We saw wild burros and an awesome road runner (no coyote running after it tho). It was a really nice way to refresh when/if you're sick of the strip and the "always on" lights that Vegas is ubiquitous for!
Carolina Meza Perez
I can't wait to see this area bloom some more! It was very green and lush. Not what you think of when you hear "Las Vegas". They have a drinking water fountain before the trail. It is clean. A great place to bring a blanket to sit and eat on the grass. They do have grills but I would bring my own top. Dogs on leash are allowed (we took him off leash just for the picture without others present). Responsible dog owners do pick up after their dogs, keeping the place clean. We found the ranger walking the trails. Two trails were closed today, but the Ash Tree Trail we took had us cross the creek/wash.
Torrance Amie
Been here many times over the years. This time was a treat. We took a ranger led 2 hour Hike that left us wanting more. Our group was small maybe 9 total. Joshua the ranger, made the trek around the ranch and the surrounding hills a pleasure. An awesome activity for kids and families. I can't recommend it enough!
Katelyn Faye Photography
A beautiful ceremony location. I was so lucky to get to photograph a ceremony here as well as some bridal photos a few weeks later! Getting a permit was simple and the rangers are kind, and it was totally worth it! I can't wait to photograph this lovely gem of a park again!
Kevin Panet
Wonderful place to visit. Lots of stuff to see and check out, with beautiful mountains as a backdrop.
Remy Lamberts
Amazing picnic area for any family outing. Magnificent back drop of the red rock mountains. Fun little hiking trail that is kid friendly as well. Nice grassy area for playing sports or throwing a frisbee.
Josh Winterrowd
Cool little state park with lots of history. Plenty of docents to guide you. Space is limited so get there early. It does cost to get in. Great open picnic areas with grills for use and picnic tables and grassy areas. Public restrooms are available. Short easy hiking trails make this a great escape from Vegas for a couple of hours. The views are amazing and the staff is knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
James R
Nice place to get away for the day.
D Cross (Z J SPOTLIGHT PRO)
Beautiful. A must see if you are a local or visiting. Nice simple hiking trails. Bring the dog.
Steve Stripling
Peaceful and Beautiful 20 minutes from Las Vegas. Senior residents can get a free pass for ALL Nevada State Parks.
Nick Caniglia
Really nice, beautiful state park near red rock. Really great for birding and some nice short trails. The ash meadow loop is very scenic and very worthwhile
Virginia Neuhauser
Fantastic!! This park and the surrounding area are among the best things in Vegas. Rivals the strip for me. Great view, nice hiking trails, but not too strenuous for families and people who are slower for whatever reason. Great picnic area also. Beautiful views!!
Sara MurzynMitschke
Nice quiet place. Large picnic areas with plenty of space if kids need to run.
Short or long hikes available, that are easy. Extra handicapped parking up by house/visitors center. Cost $10 to get into park. Worth it
Hana Huang
colorful and beautiful in fall season.
Olga Bautista
Absolutely amazing place! Very well maintained. The views are astonishingly beautiful! I wish I live in that ranch house! Wake up to coffee in the morning with those views!!!
Bronson Enjada
Great place. Lots of area to walk and enjoy the scenery.
Tonya Thompson
It is beautiful place. Plenty of space to have a picnic and spend the day playing on the huge green space. Or take a hike on one 4 trails. Or maybe you will see some wild burros
Donnie “DMACC” James
Such a beautiful place to hike and site see. You feel so free and peaceful here.
Lorena Rabun (Laurie)
It was so secluded and quiet we had a lovely picnic there I suggest going if you get the chance
April Jackson
Went here for a stargazing event. Being far enough from the city made it possible to see more stars than usual. It was clean and easy to get around. Don't know about the restrooms, didn't need to go.
Will definitely come back.
Marlo Anderson
This place is awesome! Can't wait to get back out here in the fall and get a few hikes in.
Alejandro Alvarez

Cyn Walk
A random stop that turned out to be one of our favorite places on our trip. The sweetest lady in the gift shop told us her story, how she fell in love with the place, left her home in Virginia to move there.. made us want to do the same! The animals, the views, take me back!
Bojidar Stanchev
My favorite place to run away from the city. Beautiful for picnic, bbq or just to chill on the grass. $10 per car to enter, bathrooms, sometimes outdoor movie projections. If you never been-i deeply recommend it!

TomokoOfficial
Peaceful space surrounded by mountains and some hiking trails
Raphael Whelan
This was my third time to visit this park. I always enjoy returning here to hike when I visit Las Vegas. It has never been busy when I've visited, but it is truly a gem which I highly recommend. The hiking trails are clearly marked and they are not strenuous, although I would recommend hiking shoes/boots. The scenery is breathtakingly beautiful--so peaceful and quiet too. It takes only 30 - 45 minutes to drive to depending on where you are in Las Vegas. The route my GPS took me on from the hotel where I was staying took me by Red Canyon Park as well, so that could be included on a visit to Spring Mountain Ranch as well. If you're a nature lover who finds hiking inspiring and soul-nurturing, this is a place you don't want to miss!
Joe Todd
Very beautiful! We got married here and it was a great experience and pictures were perfect here
MrsGreen Apple
It was Bonnie Springs last day of operation and packed full. We went here instead and loved it.
$10 parking got us in and look.
Evy M
I went there yesterday with a small group of friends. Opens from 8am to 5pm. Only Ash Grove trail is open. We had a wonderful time at the picnic area. Flush toilet nearby, no soap, so bring your own soap.
Ngan Ho
We enjoyed learning about the property on the tour and taking the shorter baby friendly hikes. Had a good day here.
Lori Ann Webb
So beautiful..and much less crowded than Red Rock!
Sherri C.
A hidden gem just outside of Las Vegas. It is NOT a scenic drive! It is a historic ranch with a picnic area and hiking trails. The Historic Ranch House is the visitors center.
James Beacham
A fun getaway from the city. Great place to have a picnic and enjoy the fall weather (we went in October). A lot of history here too.
Nichole
Such a beautiful place!! My friends and I visited last year and it was a great escape from Las Vegas. 100% recommend!
Robert Taylor
The most exquisite place to be entertained. I had such a wonderful evening with friends!

jimmythwrench
Has beautiful views. Great place for any family event.
Karl Bakla
great place to spend an afternoon... nice short hikes, great views, nice picnic area, and loads of Las Vegas history
CJ MM
Spring Mountain Ranch is a nice place to visit in the fall for some short easy hikes and in the summer for various outdoor plays. Be sure to check out Howard Hughes old home (now museum). As soon as you enter the park you will forget how close you are to Las Vegas. There is a small entrance/parking fee.
Elvira Morozova
The place is no question gorgeous and unique, but the ranger is far too annoying. He kept on checking on us every hour or so to inquire whether our dogs are on the leash, which they were. We are a group of adults. Do not need to be controlled while relaxing at the park. Totally uncomfortable!
Melynda Brown
Wonderful history. Make sure you see the film, only 10 minutes, very much worth your time.
Jeffrey Martin
Pretty place, nice walking trails, very friendly staff.
Phyllis Asibor
Lovely Scenery. Serene and beautiful. Do not forget your camera at home. Go create your memories. Go with your kids.
Unidentified Punk
Beautiful place to visit to get away from Vegas. It's also interesting to walk through the home and view the historical artifacts and information
Andriy Isayev
I love th place. Nice place for family picnics, soccer, jogging etc.
Kathleen DiGregorio
It is always such a nice, clean place to visit for a walk and have a picnic. I sometimes see the wild burros 🏵️ …
Edith Zamudio
My Gremlins love this park! They can run around, play soccer and go on a mini trail hike . Plus, it's a few degrees cooler than the city
Grayson Fortenberry
We went to a wedding out here and was beautiful. I would definitely come back again and explore more.
Theo
Absolutely beautiful! Most people drive right by it. Howard Hughes!
Kyle Hughes
The perfect little state park for visitors. All the trails can be reasonably hiked in a couple hours, the views are great, and the ranch itself is pretty neat to walk around in. The staff here was incredibly helpful and great, they all seemed to really enjoy working there
Slightly disappointed we couldn't get closer to the lake though, if you're going to for the lake, just be aware you have to stand behind a fence like 30 meters away.
This is also cooler than red rock canyon since it doesn't require some wacky online reservation
Common Sense
So beautiful!!! A gem in the desert, so green. I'll be coming back regularly. No crowds either.
Dave Armstrong
Park Ranger was extremely knowledgeable and the views were breath taking.
lellieu
Great place close to Vegas to unwind. A hidden gem with lots of history and a couple of nice hiking trails.
Shane Moss
Great place to visit with knowledgeable park rangers. David was shared history on the place that I couldn't even find online. It was a great experience waiting for a tour of the old house. The view of the mountains are beautiful.
Debbie Drives and Travels
I love this park. The trails are easy roaming and there is a wide variety of desert flowers. But I didn't see any wild burros. 😕 …
Michelle Castro
I went on the New Year's Eve night hike with Ranger Randy. The loop we hiked wasn't too challenging and I learned about an endangered fish. I would recommend doing one of the full moon hikes.
CYNTHIA PRIVITERA
Hadn't been since the 80's to see the yellow jackets! Still very organized, safe with LVMPD there. Lived in Blue Diamond in '75, miss those mountains, that area. Come very early to park, set up & bring food, drinks. Follow chair rules. Exiting smooth but not allowed left to return via Red Rock if you live in NW, have to go Blue Diamond SW LV. Play was wonderful. Please know those are all volunteers.
Pork Chop
Worth every penny of the 15 dollars entry fee.. nice trails and picnic area.. you can easily spend 2 or more hours here..
Lois Muro-Terry
Very Nice, quiet... Just not much open right now....Nice for a picnic or a hike :)

This place is a fun place to visit. It is perfect for all ages and a great place to have a family picnic. The trails are an easy walk and you can gain knowledge of the history of the area at the Krupp House. I highly recommend a visit here!

Howard Lewis
Truly enjoyed our visit and our Docent was very knowledgeable and fun. So we received a great history lesson of the ranch.
Spence Larson
It feels like a whole different world. But it's only 30 minutes from downtown Vegas.
Andreas Kümpel
Sooo nice there. 😊👍🇺🇸 Great nature …
Joe Heflin
We were at Spring Mountain Ranch for Mary Poppins production.
So I don't know who we were being helped by...., the production people, or the Park people.
In any case, both service groups were outstanding.
Kathy Bican
Spring Mountain Ranch and the surrounding area couldn't have been more beautiful. You will find a picnic area ,tours of the Stone House, great walking trails plus a cute gift shop 🙂 …
Kevin Vargas
Super nice picnic area! Highly recommend!
Trail Monkey (Wha_happn)
Even though only one trail was open, it was worth. 1/2/2021
Tamara Stevens
It is so beautiful. The grounds are meticulous everything is so clean and well kept. The house and it's history is fascinating. Our Docent was so knowledgeable and wanting to share. We actually went on a whim and got there about 15 minutes before they closed the house & giftshop but that didn't seem to matter to them, they gave the tour just like as if we were there midday. If you get a chance it's worth the time .
And if you plan it, take a picnic lunch or just leave time to walk the trails. Ever so peaceful.
Chris Marcos
Beautiful land kept clean and healthy. Huge picnic area.
Bob Sherman
A beautiful place...BUT...you can't touch the water in the pond or even get near it, walk off the marked trails, climb a tree, or even step on the grass near the ranch home, nor can you even get near any of the outdoor displays as they are fenced off with barbed wire. The restrictions make it feel a little like an outdoor prison, designed to "protect" the entire park from us...the people who pay to get in. I saw at least a half dozen rangers making sure everyone complied with the rules. On the other hand, it's great for hiking trails, scenery and things to photograph from a distance. There are some nice picnic tables as well with a tall grassy area where you actually can walk through. Enjoy!
billie bakhshi
Nice to find greenery and water in the desert. Come and listen to birdsong, and froggies chirping in the muddy areas.
Stu Sivertsen
Nice but too hot in the summer. Go early $10 per car cost.
Elsa E
You need to pay 10 dollars for admission to the park. Many places are not open and there is not much to see. There is only a lawn picnic area. A bit disappointed!
Michael McNerney
Flying to Las Vegas, NV from Seattle. Our approach was over Spring Mountain State Park and I noticed the striking difference of colors. Thought that it made a good photograph.
Kenneth Lund
An absolute oasis in the middle of the desert. Lovely setting. Great history. Very nice walks on the grounds that were in no way challenging even at 95 degrees.
A great experience for an afternoon. Take a picnic with you. The grounds are very accomodating for this activity.
Richard Metzler
Nice state park with a lot of history. A little ways out but worth the trip for a nice afternoon.
Mayra Reyes
Went for the astrology club. It was cold and windy. $10 entrance fee. Would go again and there was grass. Beautiful for the astrology club to host a night of Star Gazing. Def want to go again.
Marsha Raczniak
Tried to go here for the last 30 years. Finally made it today. Love it. So beautiful. It was worth the wait. So much History.
Jeremy Rector
Awesome place , incredible views, good hiking trails ..
Christopher Lyons
Beautiful and historic state park with some unique features and small hikes.
Cesar INFAMOUSNYC
very light hike its more of a walk.. Lots of butterflies Beatles and lizards all over the place
Ned Zywicki
What a cool place to escape to. Lived in Las Vegas a long time and finally visited. All of the people who worked here were passionate and informative. Trails and picnic area were well kept.
Blaise Pisani
Great get away from the city. Perfect place to take your family or puppies on a intermediate hike or just a quiet picnic.
Bill Louden
Fun evening of entertainment watching Sister Act. Remember to bring your State Park pass otherwise $10 per car.
Helen Cavendish
Went out for the Star Gazing program! It was fun and informative.. got to look thru telescopes at the Moon, Orion, and the Big Dipper. Saw the Horse Head and Cigar Nebulas.. actually got to hold a meteor that hit China in 516 AD!! Lots of people just chilling and looking up and out into the vast reaches of Space!
Kaitlyn Somazze
This state park is really a hidden gem. I went here on whim & had a great time. There's some beautiful rock formations in the park & the pond in the middle was very neat to learn about, even if you couldn't get close.
Drew Muntzel
Great hiking
Kienan Mick
A picturesque and iconic Nevada ranch complete with historically significant house.
Ryan Livingston
Great smaller state park with a few short easy walks
Bob Naugle
Shhh! Just a nice state park, great picnic area. Not huge crowds except for plays. Limited capacity during COVID too makes it a nice quite visit. Still need to get to the longer trails, but historic ranch and nature trails are very nice.
Michelle Johnson
Was awesome, not to hot shaded trees. We loved it.
Edward Steller
Okay, but not great. You kind of feel like an unwanted guest or a trespasser. Fencing up to keep you out, kind of ruins the natural feel of things. They have a nice area for picnics, but really not much for kids to do except climb trees which is prohibited. For hiking I recommend parking at the areas on the side of the road before you get there and save ten bucks. For kids Vegas has great parks with playgrounds and access to fishing that are free. The ranch house is interesting but not amazing. Park hours are limited and trails close early. I'm sure someone will let you know if it it looks like you might take too long. Seems as though Park employees want to get off and get you out of there. Can't blame them.

Beauty ~ Nature ~ History
This beautiful park is located just outside of Red Rock and worth the $7 admission fee ($10 for non Vegas locals). It's always 10-15 degrees cooler here then it is in Vegas so keep that in mind.
Established in 1876 there's a lot of rich history here and the home that is still in the park has had some interesting characters as owners. Stop in and read the cool stories and take a few minutes to take the house tour. There's a very cool hidden passage from one room to another and lots of antiques.
You can also find a large park here, picnic tables, gift shop, multiple trails to hike, a lake, a creek, family cemetery, historical sandstone cabins and amazing views in all directions. Walk up to the overlook trail to see the 520 acre oasis to appreciate its beauty.
I can only imagine how amazing it must have been to live here and call this place your home back in the day before it became a state park. Glad to see places like this preserved!
Jim Metzger
Great historic location with well groomed landscape.
Karen Henderson
Loved the trails. The restrooms are clean. Didn't go to the gift shop. But the trails are great to hike and loop around to each other. Did all the trails in one day. Very nice day for a full hike. The views are worth it. The hike was very easy. It was very easily a great day hike I'll come back to again.
Cindy Alfonso
Very beautiful park! lots of space and nature around. The ranch history is very interesting . If you go for the hikes be aware all trails close one hour before park closure at 4:30 pm. They also have restrooms, picnic tables and bbq .
The only thing I did not like was that the park ranger was practically harassing us by the end , walking around and staring at us. I guess he wanted us to leave already since we were almost the only ones there but we still had 1 hour. anyways that was kind of uncomfortable
Cassandra Armstrong
Howard Hughes owned this place but may have never visited. Rangers show you the house. Looping trails go down into the canyon through various vegetation. Woodpeckers, hummingbirds and jays. Wild burros at sunset come to graze. Near Red Rock
Aaron Bailey
Plenty of space is this hidden oasis. A great spot for a family to go for a picnic and small hike. I enjoyed the atmosphere, bathrooms were really clean and rhe small hike was a wonderful and short. Beautiful little spot in red rock.
V K
Nice park with historical buildings. Hiking trails to explore the park. Recommended if you want some nature and are a bit sick of the LV strip. Relax and breath!
Ryan Linton
Went here for a movie in the park. When the movie started the sun was still out. So it was hard to see the screen. I expect kids to talk during the movie, but a group of adults next to us wouldn't stop talking. Tried not to let it bother me but it was hard to ignore. Lots of space to play frisbee or toss a football. Overall it was fun. Maybe even see some animals around
Robert Pedersen
Nice state park. Many hiking trails within, but auto traffic limited for sightseeing beauty.
Rafael Barron
I recommend taking the tour of the house, also the trails are clean and free of debri very nice place for a nice hike or just relax under the trees at the park.
Robert Ruiz
Amazing place for a 10 dollar entry fee its beauty is worth it! Wheelchair access to some of the trails. Lots of rangers to help along if needed! I will look forward to my next vist.
Denis Pecoraro
Get out of the Vegas heat into the Spring Mountain range into a natural venue for a stage-performed play. This is an affordable outing for the family with three different plays every summer utilizing Vegas quality entertainers. You can bring your picnic dinners with you or purchase food on site from several vendors. You will not be disappointed!
T K
A great vegas getaway for the day. Only 2nd visit, but by far the best. This place is lush and very green. The weather is a few degrees cooler than Vegas. Seen cows, pear trees and other farm housing. A lot of history here. We had a personal tour of the ranch house and the wonderful lady that escorted us through, made it highly entertaining for my toddler. She explained the story of the hidden room and had my 3 yr old open doors till he found the hidden passage. She was a great host! Highly recommend checking out if you love history and slightly cooler weather from the strip.
Mike Bell
Great state park with interesting natural and cultural history. Visitors center located in one of the old buildings.
Anna Sakhniuk
Beautiful park. My fav in Las Vegas

Nice shades picnic areas. Wild burrows. Wonderful views!
Bud Pearce
Beautiful park, nice for family outings
Noel R
Pretty nice area past Red Rock with a couple of what, they call small lakes that, are more like ponds. Definitely recommend going when it is cooler. Much of your time will be in the Sun. There are nice areas for a picnic lunch.
Alan
Good state Park to take the family to. Good trail though you could get lost if you get off the trail.
Lex English
Great park. Some cool local history, nice trails, inexpensive to visit. Very helpful staff.
William Hammock
I found it to be a very peaceful experience. This is a good place to bring your young children - like age 5,6,7 and walk some easy trails. Be warned there were lots of bugs in July, but for me that gave me opportunity to teach my daughter not be scared of dragonflies, flys, and butterfiles. I saw a few people taking families photos, I would saw this is a wonderful spot for that too.
Donna Sullivan
One of the rangers, Joshua does a guided 2 mile hike Wednesday-Friday starting at 9am ending 11am. He gives a great history of the park and surrounding environment. I have gone twice and can't wait to go again. Hope he is able to continue this and hopefully a moonlight walk.
H Cob
Ranger led hikes are the best.
Our ranger, Joshua Yelle, was amazing. His knowledge was super abundant and his energy was incredibly positive and infectious. If you have a chance to go, you need to.
Patrick Coffman
This place was amazing... the weather was perfect spent as much time as I could. And wish I coulda spent more... I would definetley recommend this to everyone looking for a good hike... it was peaceful and tranquil. I definitely will be coming back. Very much needed scenery. Coming from the city to this beautiful place was 👌 …
John Boron
Our telescope show and tell experience was great. The venue is special. I will be coming to more events with the Las Vegas Astronomical Association.
Kristina Geeting
Went there for a celebration of life. Very nice park. Absolutely breath taking
Violet Grimm
Small, but great park. Really enjoyed my visit.
Victor Garcia
Historically place to know. And has WiFi if you need..
Liz Ramos
Loved the tour they give us around the main house in the ranch. Beautiful place!!
Dani Blanchette
Great place to picnic or go hiking with the dog.
Anne H Maxwell
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is the place to go if you like a little hiking or love photography. Overlook trail - 0.8 mile loop - has some elevation, but the views were worth it. Lake Harriet trail is a short hike around a lake, except the lake is currently drained for wildlife rehabilitation, so only one side of the trail is open. That trail connects to Sandstone Canyon Loop - the longest trail at 1.2 miles. It takes you into a beautiful canyon with amazing rock structures. There's a softball field & picnic areas, too, for friends and families to get together. Parking is $10.00.
B Na
It is paid admission, $8 the last time I went. There are designated walking paths and trails, lots of burros and bunnies too. The tour of the ranch house is pretty interesting. I'm glad this is a state park and should remain undeveloped for generations of people to enjoy <3
Mac
Nice place to hike but only 2 out of 5 trails were open.
Jason Rivera
Always a great place to go when you wanna get out of the city for a while
LX A
Nice hiking and good scenery. Not exactly Sedona nor Grand canyon but still good to visit and easy to get to if you're in Las Vegas.
Kathryn Smith
A hidden Las Vegas gem, about 30 minutes from the strip. Full of history and beauty. You can explore the historic sites, walk the trails, picnic on the grass, surrounded by the breathtaking mountain views. A refreshing retreat away from the city. Only minutes from Red Rock Conservation area.
Andrew Meil (Andy)
Friendly staff and rangers, fascinating history and stories from local volunteers, great mild to moderate hiking trails, you can bring your dog on leash. Fun stuff! Next to Red Rock, without the crowds. I go once a season.
Zachary Moyle
Love this place. Great history, nice simple hikes, beautiful views!
Mike “MikeMmmm” Mmmm
The place is interesting and scenic with some nice trails. However for the entry fee you would think they could afford a bottle of soap for the bathrooms. No soap, no paper towels and their hot air dryers don't work. $10 can buy a lot of soap, let alone the dozens and sometimes probably hundreds of cars that come here daily.
Jacob Freeman (Jay)
Absolutely beautiful, and quiet, just a little ways out of the valley. Be sure to be thorough in taking out or properly throwing away what you bring in - the park's workers take keeping it beautiful seriously, rightfully so. I always suggest seeing a live play or musical at the nearby outdoor theatre. It's always worth it. A great break from the sizzling heat of Vegas.
Esse N
Guided hike up Sandstone Canyon with Joshua, our ranger/guide. Learned a lot from him. He is passionate about nature, being outdoors, & Spring Mountain Ranch. I would recommend the hike and you can go back on your own without a guide. Beautiful area.
MiMi ForTheWin
Nice place to go for a hike. They also have a nice area that you can hang out with picnic tables and have a lunch with restrooms in that area.
Roland Paz
Tucked within the mouth of the Red Rock Canyons, fantastic theatrics beyond amazement, will fill the cool evenings. This is not a last minute decision. Coolers and food are welcome. Children may not be as amused as the adults. No pets or service animals welcome. Lots of walking from the lot to the pavilion and back. Great for date night!
Guido Vosconi
My first play I went to and I really enjoyed it
Family Auto LLC
Great sceneries with a beautiful picnic area with green grass and a gorgeous view on the mountains. I would give it a 5 star if not for the staff that takes their job too serious. Beware of Karen's.
David Dunn
The staff are great it is pretty long walk to see the sites; they say that some of the trails are handicap accessible. Well let me tell you, there not!! I have a very powerful Scooter and I had a ruff go of it. It's like a roller coaster. And the ruts my, word, they don't seem so bad when you travel around in a pick up truck. I'm not sure of the damage I did to my Scooter but my steering is very loose.
Amanda Bishop
I Love Spring Mountain Ranch! Hiking, family picnic and theater in the summer! GREAT TIME
J M
We went here a couple weeks ago to see Chicago. They prices were great at only $17.50 each. When we arrived there was a line of cars and we just knew we were going to be late trying to find a parking spot, but it only took a couple minutes because they had attendants making sure people parked orderly. Rules are pretty lax on bringing your own food and drinks so that helped make this experience even better because I didn't have to spend $50 on snacks and a couple drinks like most other places. We will definitely be back again because even though I'm into musicals, I had a great time.
Twyla Cook
Such a beautiful place to go and escape the big city for a day. Bring your picnic basket and some lawn games and enjoy some solitude. Take the tour of the ranch house. Most importantly respect the place and the wildlife pack it in pack it out... cleanup after yourself.
Tamer Ceylan
Today we were fortunate to have a great docent, Ron, to give us a tour of the Spring Mountain Ranch. With his knowledge and enthusiasm, he brought the whole place back to life. He is a walking, speaking, and researching encylopedia. We thank this very informed and polite person for the time he took to explain many interesting things about the place, which is currently the visitors center.
The park has good trails and views. The rangers we met were all very helpful. A pleasant way to spend the day outside Las Vegas!
suzette roberts
Nature and history meet in a beautiful setting. We toured the ranch house and the staff was super nice and showed us the secret room in the back bedroom. We hiked a couple of trails; to the over look and the cemitary. We went on a weekday in early Sept and we had the park mostly to ourselves.
Matt Bingaman
Great place to take a family for a picnic. The trails are short and well maintained for little ones. The grassy area is nice to let the kids run around. You may see some ranch animals running around. We even saw a roadrunner.
Ed Drake
It was refreshing to see green plants and Fields.
Kat Riley
Wonderful...until that park ranger... I love Spring Mountain Ranch and we do a lot of photo sessions there — a lot of people do. It’s beautiful there. However, our last outing was ruined by a female park ranger named “Tori” or however she spells her name. I felt like we had a shadow wherever we went. We were on the trails when she rudely tells us to stop taking pictures and head back to the picnic area. The trails didn’t close until 4:30, we had every right to walk along the trail. It’s a park that we drove all the way down to enjoy and we weren’t trashing anything—that park ranger needs to let people enjoy themselves.
P. Rao
Beautiful park and national park open to the public and just 6 miles from Red Rock Park. Spring Mountain Ranch has historic buildings with guides tours about the history of the main house (once owned by Howard Hughes and others before) and there are walking and hiking trails around the ranch (520 acres) with lovely views of the mountains and lots of trees and plants that you won't see elsewhere. It's also at least 10 degrees cooler than Vegas, so it's a great literal retreat from the noise and crowds if you want to hike and be out amongst the Arizona Ash Trees and in nature. The guides also do night tours and there are yoga classes and places to picnic and barbeque onsite. Definitely worth checking out.
El Gallo Productions
The best place to relax and meditation
Kool Virdee
The 2 mountain peaks are beautiful at the Red Canyon. One only need to walk for 10 mins to get closer to the mountains for great pictures. Walking trails are nice too. There is a $10 entry free per car to the park.
Wesley Norton
Went to the old time fiddlers jam session by the ranger station. This place has a beauty and mysticism all its own. Worth the visit. Will take you back in time
Charity Wimmer
Beautiful scenery, lots of neat rock formations a great place to get amazing photos!
Tilla Nealon
Beautiful setting. Home and land has history through its location and it's ownership ... The property is beautiful and well kept. Big advantage to this park is temps are cooler in summer due to its elevation from the valley floor.
Kimberly Barber
Joshua was our interpretive ranger on the hike. He was informative, friendly and funny. I learned so much about the area I did know and the scenery is gorgeous. What an absolutely joyful way to start the New Year. This place is worth adventuring anytime!
Nicole Cabrera
I love going to the super summer theater. The Hugh's ranch is great and the hiking is fun too. You might see a wild burro too!
Cathy Fitzgerald
A great way to get a look at a ranch that has a Hollywood connection. Knowledgeable docents shared fun tidbits about ranch owners and opened doors to secret passageways. You can walk to outbuildings, check out trails and picnic. Nevada has GREAT state parks.
Jonathan Harms
Bring beer
We visited the park for a little theater.
Into The Woods
The show was fun.
Atmosphere was fun.
My kids had a blast.
Did get chilly - bring a sweater.

No leg chairs are avail for rent, $1.
Chrislynn Legaspi
Beautiful getaway from the city life. Area to relax and picnic with the family, hiking trails that are super kid friendly (though not completely stroller friendly), historical stops, cows and burros (when they're around) for the kids to woo over. Only thing is Lake Harriet is still dry which is a bummer since they're cleaning it up. Hope it gets filled spoon! Just a beautiful sight along with the mountains being so near to marvel at. 10 entrance fee for everyone. No more local discount.
Ivy Castleton
My family & I went out to the Spring Mountain Ranch State Park theatre to watch the musical Pirates of Penzance. It was humorous & fun to watch.
There were an unbelievable number of comfy white plastic chairs available for audience members to use & food trucks to help you enjoy your picnic dinner before the play started.
After the play, there was plenty of security to guide the cars safely to the canyon road.
Mark Pearce
This is a great place with many tranquil spots to sit and admire the beautiful scenery and local wildlife, trees and plants. The ranch house itself has an interesting history and this was vividly brought to life for us by Carol and Phil, two of the guides we met there. Entry to the park was $9 for our car (Sept 2016) and well worth the money. Additionally there's a picnic area with BBQs, various tracks to walk and rest rooms.
Deede McLaughlin
Spring Mountain Ranch has a lot of activities to enjoy. It has a ranch on the property that has a history to it of all the owners up to the time that Nevada state acquired it. There is a picnic area, trails to walk around the area seeing buildings, a lake, cemetery. The evenings at Spring Mountain Ranch is an outdoor theatre from the months of May thru September in the evenings starting at 8 pm. Bring your dinner, snacks or enjoy hot dogs, chips, pop corn, from the vendor there. Rent a chair for $1.00. Sit and enjoy the entertainment of the evening. You would have to check and see what the days of the week what would be playing and buy your tickets in advance. This is truly a delightful place to spend some time at. Lot of history and lots to see on the grounds.
Megan Sebree
Beautiful mountains & nice trails. Less busy than Red Rock & totally worth seeing!

Absolutely Beautiful!!
Shannon Saavedra
I've been visiting this park for years and it has been one of my favorites for a picnic among incredible scenery. Yoga on the meadow is also a draw. However, the volume of visitors has significantly increased and the staff seems stressed.
Are you a grandma interested in taking pics of you grandkids outside of the meadow? BEWARE; you may be accused of being a professional photographer and that requires a permit! Don't expect to be told nicely either.
Are you loading up at the end of the day when the park is almost empty? Don't you dare pull into one of the four empty handicap spots next to your handicap friend to help her load up her grandkids - you need a permit for that too!
Some common courtesy and common sense when enforcing all those rules they memorized would be greatly appreciated. Instead, your left being scolded and feeling like a criminal subject to the full extent of the law.
Have a nice family day, folks!
OZ Truvill
Great outdoor place for the family or couples. The theater opens for the summer in may and has great performances in a very comfortable seating. Great food from The Prickly Pear Trading Company food truck and fanatic view of Red Rock Canyon.
Maoneill46
Great place for a hike.
John Vukelich
Nice easy and quick hike. Not the most challenging or longest, but well maintained park. Very pretty drive to get here and much less crowded than other nearby hikes.
Nava C.
In my opinion this place is too hot, very hot in this month of July, but It is a very nice place to visit in an other date. The show is not very nice like in new Mexico, but the panoramic area is very nice. To stay down of the trees is ok. But not to walk.
I hoppe this review be help to some people want to go to this place.
Betty
Go, It's gorgeous and relaxing! Get there a little earlier in the day if you want a table for picnicking. I personally would not go in the summer :) The bathrooms are little rustic, but at least it flushes.
mariela sandoval
Love this place. Its family friendly you can have a picnic go hiking or you can go for a tour to the lake, cemetery or to the house where the frist people who used to live there. Theres a small $7 fee to enter to the Ranch but its so worth it.
LINDA LAINES
Great place for a picnic. We attended the Civil War reenactment. Kids learned to march and had a battle using little sponge water bombs. Fun for all ages. Grown ups enjoyed trying to sling shot the kids with the water bomb ammo.
Juce Beris
Nice casual trail with nice views
Benny Moore
Great place, relaxing and family oriented
Gennifer Vega
Great venue for outdoor concerts. Staff are friendly and the event attended featuring Smokey Joe's Cafe was a lot of fun!
Brianna Bubbly
A really relaxing hiking and picnic spot. They hold ranger lead night hikes, and you can find out when on their Facebook page. About 1 or 2 mile hike. They're super fun, even for kids!
Ron Gould
Beautiful scenery and property. Once owned by Howard Hughes who hoped to get his wife to use it as a getaway but she never would and there's no record of him setting foot on the property either.
Kory Engle
Perfect hiking trails for the whole family..
Stick Man
This is a nice little park on the west side of Vegas. It's just a few minutes drive for anyone that live in the Mountains Edge area. There is a small lake and some trails for hiking. The trail through the ash grove is pretty level and partially shaded for any easy hike. Plenty of mountain scenery for photos.
Maz Wood
20 miles southeast from the strip. Spring Mountain Park, shares a intercontinental heritage fron its ownership.
Grander than all the historic facts. The backdrop took and averge of 3.5 mlion years to form. From an arid desert to dinosaurs playgrounds; the evolution route took a detour ans 1.mlion years ago the area was under sea level.
The trained eye can find dinosaurs footpeints and sea shells at highr elevations.
Come by and delight in the wonders the Nevada desert has to offer.
Christina Reyes
Favorite park to go to thus far since moving to Vegas!
Leslie Lucero
Went to the summer time theater. Great intertainment for the family. Highly recommend!
Nicole Saccomano
Beautiful area. Great for hikes and picnics. The summer theater is so much fun, highly recommended.
Alex Isom
Local getaway, historic place. Quaint and hidden. Plus they have a great theatre for performances
Greg Grote
Grabbed some subs on our last day in Vegas and drove out here to eat lunch before heading to the airport. Nice setting with picnic tables, some trails to walk, views of Red Rock, and the ranch house and related stuff. $10 for the carload.
Guillermo Marinero
Great place to visit with little kids or elderly folks. Not much going on but interesting enough for them
Jayne Goretzke
A beautiful place to hike and picnic!
TwistedRisa Hair
It was my 1st time for the summer Broadway series... It was amazing the cast was fantastic... We have the are opportunity to Catch" Into the Woods "

Edward Steller
We went to listen to music. It was amazing.
Linda Vanbiervliet
Great state park experience! Well marked trails. Rangers did a great job of sharing information
Diane Brow
A nostalgic look back at the beginnings of the Las Vegas we know today... before millions of people were here. Enjoy a walk around the house and grounds of the rich and famous of the 30's & 40's. Fun way to end a day in the mountains.
Cynthia Stanley
Very beautiful But the park Rangers are a bit cocky they excorted us off the trails followed us in a truck while we we're walking out at 4:40 pm the park closes at 6 pm we stopped to take a pick on the way out They outbursts I can't have you doing that folks your in the middle of the road mind you they are the only ones behind us. So yea I feel like it's a racist park
Alekta M.
Great place with rich history. I would love to explore mote hiking trails there. Beautiful views of mountains and fascinating wildlife.
Angelina Walton
Sorry that there is no pond, but we can still feed the cows while walking the trails.
Irene Martinez
It is absolutely beautiful and I hiked both trails in the same day..you have to go👍🤗 …
Lana Del Gato
Awesome place to hike with the family. Also, great place to just chill out in the open field. I love the tour they have there too. The ranch house is beautiful.

If you are planning a wedding or reception party, PLEASE let the guests know how informal it will be.
The park is a BEAUTIFUL setting and backdrop for a wedding or any party you want pictures of.💜💜💜
But, let the guests know they should bring comfortable footwear and there are no restroom facilities unless you provide them for your party.

This was a cool short hike. Enjoyed the loop. Be careful not to get pulled by the cacti everywhere.
Robert Bond
Great park. Picnic grounds were nice with plenty of shade. Hiked a short trail, liked the informational signs. Unfortunately, much of park closed due to Covid.
L Pollard
I just love this place, I always have such a great relaxing time with my friends and enjoying the cooler temps! And the drive is beautiful!!
Elzbet Whitefire
I recently officiated a wedding at the park and what a fantastic location. The price was a little steep to reserve what was not much more than a muddy field but the rest of the park was lovely. With Bonnie Springs right next door this was a great place to relax and enjoy an afternoon. If you are coming from out of town don't miss either location. Start at the park in the morning and then head over to Bonnie Springs for a fantastic meal and some fun with the kids.
Mr Polo
Great place to explore the ranch, history, springs and desert. Make sure you take the tour into the house at the top of the hill. You will learn about the Krup,... Liz Taylor diamond & local car dealership owner, perhaps about the springs and mountains and many other events that take place each year. There is an upper lake that was currently drained but when they refill it with the endangered fish that where removed due to an invasive species someone planted into the lake...., Big park for grilling and activities. Take Blue Diamond exit head west for 10 mile to exit to town of Blue Diamond then jest 1 mile or 2 beyond to Spring Mountain Ranch Park. ENJOY
.
Martina Schramm
An unexpected green gem in the desert with quite some interesting history. There a a number of shaded bbq spots around a green meadow. Too bad we did not get to see much of the property because of ongoing renovations. Will definitely head back to see the lake on the property .
Chory_MuthaFucken_B
Really a beautiful place. It's always great when dogs are welcome. Great place to spend the afternoon hiking or relaxing in the picnic area.
Be aware for ticks.
Allison Harris
I went to see my sister in Sister act the musical.
Doug Springer
What a beautiful place to walk and relax. The lake had water in it, great picture opportunities.
Nancy Ramos
It is a great place. It was the best play. I seen. In a long time. I give it 100
Ivan Portillo
Great hiking spot
Kaye Speakman
This beautiful hideaway never, ever gets old. LAKE Harriette is dried up for cleaning! No one seems to know where those HIGHLY ENDANGERED FISH are currently being stored. 😳.
If you visit, see keep the park beautiful.
Bonnie Higgins
Always a great time at Spring Mountain Ranch! Didn't get a 5 star only because some of the bathroom locks didn't lock & neither did the driers for your hands & I ran across one bathroom that the faucet sinks water didn't work. 🤔 If you pay $10.00 to enter the park EVERYTHING IN THE BATHROOMS SHOULD WORK! 😕 …
Quintina Buck
Great place to go hiking!
Scott Hunt
I love Spring Mountain Ranch. If you're visiting Vegas, and want to dedicate a few hours to seeing the mountains, hiking in mountains, rock climbing, or anything else dealing with rocks ... go drive the Red Rock Canyon scenic loop, you won't be disappointed. BUT, if you've seen the rocks already, then just five miles down the road from RRC is Spring Mountain Ranch, and it has everything else. More densely packed vegetation than the rest of the canyon ... more critters (rabbits, chipmunks, the occasional wild burro) ... four (ish) miles of easy hiking ... a beautiful ranch built in the 50s ... a story of a diamond which includes Elizabeth Taylor in its history ... a secret passage in a closet! ... all with an ever present view of some very pretty red rock mountains. If THAT piques your interest, then you'll love Spring Mountain Ranch as much as I do.
Carl Rodd
nice place with open green grass area. it's a state park and there is a $10 entry fee. it's worth a visit.
Motion Picture Video
Great staff, beautiful surroundings and full of history.
jack edinger
Awesome adventure for friends and families . I learned tons of amazing historic information about the location dating as far back as to when the Spanish trail was still in use . Very interesting and beautiful........
Sheethegeek Jennings
Nice and quite place to spend a day. The grass pinic area is nice and large enough for several families to enjoy themselves and not be on top of one another. I would def love to return.
Petra Sheppard
Beautiful trails and area
reyna maya
I've got to like this place more than my own home, it is not too far of a drive or getaway from Vegas. I must admit that I come here all too often during all year round. What you will find to like is the peace and tranquility that no other place can give you in Las Vegas. I come with family and we bbq and setup our picnic, there is plenty of grass to set it up or you can use their tables and grills wich ever you find useful after we have finished eating we all as a family then make it out to the ranch house. The ranch house is a a private state park museum if you come in as a group or when they get a big sized group they can tell you the history of the house wich is quite interesting. After we've got the tour we then hike to the man made pond there now seems to be crawfish and in case no one else knows the history of how they made it to this pond I will share it, a volunteer of the park said to me that as she would come to volunteer she brought her grandchildren and they had crawfish and let them go inside the pond ever since they have been reproducing by a lot, no thanks to the children lol. You don't have to be and outdoorsy type of person to enjoy what mother nature offers us. Also during holidays and i think only some they do some pretty cool activities last 2 years ago was pumpkin patch and 2015 was smores, and Pumpkin carvings, face paintings, ride on a tractor there was tons of fun!

Nice low-key state park and museum close to Vegas. Josh, one of the park rangers, was incredibly knowledgeable about the park’s history as well as the history of the surrounding area.

It was so fun. Such a beautiful place. This is somewhere I like to come and enjoy with my family. The only thing that bothered me was the lady who collected my fee to enter the park when it was free fee day.

Beautiful place with friendly and helpful staff. And excellent day trip to get out of Vegas for a little while and clear the cigarette smoke in the casinos out of your body! Don't get fooled by the '' ranch'' right next door that is a shoddy little tourist trap however.
Aimee Higgins
Watch how you park. Ticketed for being just slightly outside line for "double parking". And the rangers will also bust you - no marijuana use.
