We had the BEST time for a 15 year old birthday party. Thank you Skate South and all the great staff for laying out a nice spread and service the was absolutely awesome. Fair price, for the party for 8, especially with all it it included. Definitely would recommend it and do it again❤️

Skate south is top notch we hosted a private party there today for my daughter’s 9th birthday and all the kids had an amazing time the staff and owner are wonderful. My teenagers skate there often as well as my 9 year old and 3 year old. we have also attended many parties during open skate as well and it’s always a lot of fun and the kids always enjoy it. Clean, safe and family friendly environment and fair price for all the food and services I give skate south 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolute blast! In town for a staff meeting and wanted to spend our evening doing something fun and this totally hit the spot. The place is so cool. It's a massive rink with tons of place to practice. The staff seemed so involved with the new skaters, on the rink, helping them out. The music was great; really trendy with a splash of emo, rap, hip hop, little bit of Pixar favorites. Anyways, highly recommend, will make a point to come back. Thank you to the staff who helped us navigate the place, answered our questions, and offered to help us with our selfies.

Skate South is amazing, specifically Lisa! Lisa is the marketing and sales manager there, and does a terrific job making sure when you are there, you have a blast. Being a coordinator for a non profit organization, I wanted to take my club to a fun and exciting field trip and decided to go to go to Skate South. I called and Lisa went into detail the rates and information needed to know. I told her that I would call her back to confirm numbers, and she took the time to follow up with me later! That wasn't everything... she came to my work place and introduced herself and also provided me more information about Skate South and rates! I was very shocked because that is 100/10 customer service to me. Day before the field trip, she messaged me saying that she was excited to have us there, and the day of the field trip also let me know how they couldn't wait to have us there. This made me feel special and welcomed. Lisa took pictures and sent them to me. All of the pictures were of the kids having a blast, smiling from ear to ear and enjoying. I have nothing but wonderful words to say about Lisa and the customer service provided by Skate South.

Very kid friendly environment, gives young people and kids something to do to keep them out of trouble! $5 or $6 usually for skater admission, skates $4-6 rental. I gave it a 4 star because the prices of the snack bar is kinda outrageous...just a little bit.

I have fond memories from my childhood and was able to take my daughter there for a birthday party. She had an excellent time. Building interior is showing its age, but that is to be expected. I'm just glad it's there so she could experience it.

Great place to take family & kids. We had our daughter's birthday party here for 20 kids and they took great care of us. We brought the family for something to do on Christmas evening. The staff was warm and welcoming, and we felt very appreciated. Thank you!

Music was just not it. Nice place to bring a family of little ones though for sure. Floor decent, good concessions and seemed clean. Not a great skate for older ones or anyone looking for a jam skate.

It's all good. Went for a birthday party for my younger grandchildren's half-brother. This is the 3rd time that I have been there for a B-day party. The kids really enjoyed themselves skating. They didn't want to stop or leave. I didn't skate. Only thing irritating was the flies. They were terrible. Had to keep shooshing them away from the food.

My daughter and I just went here for the 1st time tonight. We liked it a lot! The staff was friendly and helpful. Even the other kids who were there helped my daughter when she would fall. Great atmosphere! Will be back!

Why why why do they close at 9pm on a weekend.. has this city not know that if they stay open late more kids would come.... At least till 11or better yet midnight.. this is the reason it's called DeadMoines IA. It's because every place restaurant close early in this town... No bueno.. lame city

I can’t say enough good things about Skate South! The staff was very attentive, prompt and friendly. I had a birthday party for my daughter that included 16 kids and 16 adults, we took up our fair share of room and still were comfortable. Such great value for the money! We will be back!!

I had my Granddaughter's Birthday party here. The staff was fantastic and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed and returning promptly with items we did need. The kids had a great time with plenty of things to do besides just skating. I would defiantly recommend them for hosting children's parties and for fun times skating with friends.

My daughters really like coming here. Had their birthday party's here and the staff was great. Ended up needing more pizzas and they got them out in no time. They still do limbo and all the other skate things we did growing up.

Since there are only two rinks in des moines it's hard to give a bad review, again. But out of the two I'd much rather spend my time here at skate south than skateland. but one thing... the floors are GROSS. If you fall or drop something i would suggest some sanitizing asap. The pic is of my wheels after one 3-4 hour session. Had to clean them with acetone just to get it off. These are 107A hardness, so they aren't picking up the dirt themselves. It's sticky, dusty, hairy and gross.

Best music great people adult night was great 8:30 to 11:30 on Saturday night We need more people to show up so we can have more adult nights they are willing to be open for us I know spring is here and summer will be soon we need to keep skating please show your support by showing up the more of us showing up the more adult nights in the future to come

Fun place filled with all ages and backgrounds, very welcoming and it seemed like a very well knit community. The pizza Friday is a good deal, and at the end of each skate session they play a variety of games to wrap it up. Would recommend to anyone looking for a cheap and fun night out.

Awesome visit, helpful and friendly staff. The other skating individuals were also very pleasant and always willing to give good advice. Would definetly go there again. Well worth the 10 dollars. Didn't try out any of the food or beverages while I was there although looked like there was a good selection.

Had a blast, albeit tinged with sadness at the news that adult skating session was being suspended for the summer. I understand, but spending a few hours hanging with friends was always fun. This facility has recently been upgraded, is consistently well maintained, and the staff is fun and accommodating. Best rink in DSM

Makes you feel like a kid again and the real kids had a blast! Would give 5 stars if they would wash the gross walls and railings around the skating rink. They are filthy and sticky and very unpleasant to touch.

Skating was fun,, but evidently it’s ok to allow your children, some very young, to run around the skating floor without skates and several times right in front of skaters. I myself almost ran into a couple. Also I assume now it’s ok to allow children to shove the skate helpers around in front of people. Understand there was a party but it was very rude to people who wanted to skate.

A good place to bring kids! Different skates options from regular roller skates to speed skates and roller blades. Good for groups. Prices are inexpensive considering what you get. Some food options are available. And an area that has ramps for the more daring of the bunch.

This is one if the best experiences I have had I Des Moines! From party planning, to suggestions for success, to playing our favorite song, Skate South was top notch. Mark, Tyler, and Keith did a great job helping create a special evening for our party. The adult skating was fun and refreshing. Kudos to the staff for a great night!

It was SOO fun. If you like skating games then this is the place for you! They give you plenty of time to skate, and opportunity to play skating games. Their is a little arcade area, a place to eat, lockers, bathrooms, a bouncy house, vending machine's and a skating ramp. This place defintly was worth my time!

It was really fun and great food for a skating rank. It has lots of space for sitting and skating and has vending machines, a bouncy house on occasions, and a small skating park area with hills and such. It's a nice skating rank and it's not too expensive either!

Although this place isn't as popular as it was a few years ago, this is still a great spot to take children to get out of the house for a while. You are able to rent skates or roller blades, or you also have the option of bringing your own from home.

I honestly love this place, it's a second home for me, I go skating every week and skating is my life😻💖 it's a fun place for children, pre-teens, teens, and adults, and has something enjoyable about it for all ages💩😁I would suggest going and giving it a try, and the staff their is very pollite, nice, kind, and funny😂 And they don't just play pop and rap songs they play old time songs too

Great place for kids to learn how to skate and a great place for more skilled people to have some fun. Also if you're interested in Roller Derby this is the place to ask about it or at Skate North on Meredith Dr. In Urbandale.

Cheap place to roller skate. Concession stand workers need more training and learn what customers paid for items and ones who didn't. Rink needs some redoing.
