He’s extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of tennis, willing to spend as much time w/ us as needed to fully communicate, provides friendly service, stands behind his work, & he does all this at a fair price. Raquet Heads is the best tennis shop in the Tampa Bay area, for beginners and advanced. I visited them for the first time early in the fall, never having played tennis before, and they set me up with a couple of demo racquets to try. After trying them out, they had me try out additional racquets for a few consecutive weeks, until I got a good understanding of what I like and don't like - while they also provided feedback. During all of this time, I was never pressured to purchase a racquet or guided towards a more expensive one. I recently just purchased my first racquet from them and can't wait to play with it. Racquet Heads provides an awesome purchase and introductory experience, the guys are extremely knowledge, accommodating, nice, and you are also supporting a small local business at the same time.

Joey helped me find a new tennis bag I was looking for - he was extremely kind and knowledgable about the product. I also tried on some shoes while I was there - while I didn't purchase the shoes I really appreciated that they weren't pushy or trying to 'sell me' on something I didn't want. Most enjoyable shopping experience… ever. Joey and Doug are the nicest people! They are incredibly knowledgeable of tennis and everything related. Highly recommend this shop! I just recently took up Tennis and walked in knowing absolutely nothing. Doug was awesome and allowed me to try several loaners until I found the right racquet. I was also impressed with their pricing, I ended up paying close to 20% less than the price I’d seen through online retailers.

You could drive right past this small tennis shop and not even notice but guess what...this place is Shangri-La for tennis players. It is definitely the best tennis shop in Tampa Bay and it might be the best tennis shop in the country, definitely on a per square foot basis it is. I drive back and forth from St Pete to get my racquets strung here, I buy balls, tennis supplies and I've bought racquets here too. Great demo program with excellent selection of racquets, nice selection of tennis shoes too. But the reason to come here is that these guys really KNOW tennis and can make great recommendations. They are not salesmen. And they have great prices too. Next time I stop by, I'm bring ing them a signed copy of my book, Footsteps of Federer: A Fan's Pilgrimage Across 7 Swiss Cantons in 10 Acts.

Racquet Heads is a neighborhood shop where the guys are friendly and knowledgeable. You can always count on them to have your rackets restrung by the date and time promised. Although the selection of gear is relatively small, their prices are competitive and I love giving them the business over big box and online retailers.

I live in Lakeland and discovered this small shop several years ago when I first started playing tennis. I have now bought 4 racquets from them - each a little bit better than the last. I feel like Doug and Joey know me and are able to advise me about the next racquet that will meet my changing needs. The ability to take a few racquets to demo is invaluable. The personal attention I am given is very helpful. Their prices seem to break the lowest prices I can find on line. Plus they carry the most recent racquets immediately after they are released by companies. Great little tennis store!

I just bought a new racquet from them, but I've been stopping in for years for grips and wraps. They let me use several demos to find the right fit and feel. I can't stress how awesome this was. Not only did I find the right racquet, I also learned that my old one was actually causing me pain. Once I started going through the demo racquets, my hand pain decreased. When I found "the one", my pain disappeared; I totally was not expecting that. The other thing that caught me off guard was their price on the racquet was less expensive than I had seen it online.

just took a racket in and had the grip changed to leather. also doug put lead tape to balance it with my other racket. i have been in the industry for 40 years and there is no one better to customize your rackets. one of a kind best prices. last of the old school shops around!!

I recommend this store to players of all levels without reservation. These guys know their stuff and take the time to understand and address your needs. Because of recent problems with tennis elbow, I entered Racquet Heads yesterday for the first time expecting to buy a new tennis racquet. Doug spent 15-20 minutes talking to me and comparing the Head racquet I had bought at another store 18 months ago to a Wilson racquet I had used for 15 years without ever experiencing any tennis elbow. Ultimately, Doug increased the size and weight of the handle of the Head racquet so it more closely matched the Wilson racquet. I used the Head racquet this morning without any difficulties. Doug was willing to give up a more profitable sale to do what was best for the customer ... a very rare quality!

If you are looking for a new tennis racquet anywhere in Tampa, go see Doug and Joey. They know the ins and outs of every model (weight, flex, size, string pattern, future models) of all types and can fit one to your game. They will let you demo as many as you like. I was about to buy an "OK" racquet out of frustration after trying multiple demos without a clear winner. Doug told me to hold off for a week because they were getting in a new Head demo he thought I might like. When I finally tried it,it was the racquet I had always wanted but didn't know existed. Purchased immediately. Worth the trip from anywhere in Tampa or St Pete to get the perfect one.
