This place is why you buy from small shops! I got a roof rack for my son a couple years ago and it recently started cracking around the coating on the roof bars. With no hesitation they communicated with the company and worked out a replacement with no cost! If I had gotten this at a big box store it would have been up to me to track down the serial numbers etc and it probably would have been very difficult and taken forever. They got it done right and in no time!

I think this may be the craziest review I have ever written. I have been a customer since they were located just behind Pinellas Square Mall well before the store on 58th Ave N., it's current location. Over the years I have purchased many boats from Mike and his son Scott. Recently I had mentioned to Scott that I was looking for a used Wilderness System Commander 140. I had bought two from him many years ago. This boat has been out of production for many years, so the chances were slim to none. He offered to keep an eye out for one for me. I figured that it would be a longshot at best but hope springs eternal as they say. Low and behold he called me this past week and said that he had seen one on a online for sale website. A search found the boat and I called the owner who said it was still for sale and she thought that she may know me. I arranged to go by and see the boat and when I got there I realized that the boat that was for sale was the boat I had sold her husband a number of years ago. It was in good shape and it is now home again. The gist of this review is that there are very few business owners who would go that extra mile like Scott and Canoe Country Outfitters. Bought a new Ocean Kayak Malibu Two from here. These specific kayaks have been flying off the shelves everywhere local. Called Canoe Country Outfitters and was told the exact day they were receiving a shipment and they took my name/number down and advised they would call me once received. That day came, the kayaks were in and I was able to submit my purchase over the phone and they held it until I could pick it up. My husband went the next day to pick it up and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Showed my husband how to load the kayak into the truck bed and tie it down. Overall great experience with this place. Very happy with my purchase and I will continue to come here for my kayaking needs!

Have you ever wanted to buy a kayak and was torn between a couple different brands? Have you ever wanted someone who would take the time to answer questions you cannot find online or just want to see real time in person? I did and that brought me here. What I thought would be a quick in and out experience while I went to a couple other stores to talk to others about the couple brands not offered here, quickly turned into a long conversation about "what ifs" and "what abouts?" Thankfully Tom is an amazing"salesman." He never tried to push the sale and answered all of my questions. He took the time to ensure I had the information I needed and offered to let me take a demo before I buy. So I left with more ideas and things to look at on YouTube, hoping I was making the right call. I returned to take the demo and see what I thought. What I didn't expect was to walk out with my new kayak, it's accessories and a smile as big as the time I bought my first kayak. Tom and the young man (sorry I forgot your name bud) handled my questions and excitement like pros and I was excited to buy accessories from them versus online to show my appreciation for everything they went though to set me up in my new ride. Once the transaction was complete, the service did not end. They helped me load everything up and are going to look into a couple other things for me down the road. Great job, great experience and great feeling walking out. Thank you both! See you soon!

This place is fantastic. Scotty was super helpful. Called in the mooring and they held the boat until I could pick it up. My wife is new to the sport and I don't know anything about it, Scotty got us all set up with a paddle, and straps for the car. I was out of there in 15 minutes. We'll be getting all our kayaking stuff at Canoe Country.

This is a belated review that we've been meaning to log for a few months now... thought we would come back and make sure we got this in as this was a great experience for us. We purchased our Yakima Rock'n'Roll kayak trailer from the guys at Canoe Country Outfitters a few months ago, and it was such an amazing experience. We had a hard time finding this trailer but we lucked out and the guys here had one / held it for us as we couldn't come get it for a bit. We thought this was nice because they very easily could've just sold it to the next caller. (All other shops we called had a 6mo+ waiting list.) While this trailer is in crazy high demand, they kept the price very low instead of trying to gouge us for a few extra pennies. When we got there the trailer was already assembled and tested, ready to tow home. We got a nice walkthrough and some useful tips we might not have picked up on had we purchased this via an online-only retailer. They also packed up everything we needed to get it registered and promptly mailed us the remaining paperwork that they couldn't prepare onsite during our visit. While we were there we got a look at the shop and - we will be buying our next kayak here for sure, selection was fantastic. Thanks again for the great trailer! We have used it numerous times and couldn't be happier.

I found CCO online and not only did they have my kayaks but shipped them to VA for me. Easy peasy! I selected Canoe Country Outfitters as they had all the different model kayaks I was considering. On their recommendation, I bought a Wilderness Tarpon 120 on April 10 of this year. Two weeks later I injured my right shoulder. I found out a month later I had sprained it and it could take up to a year to heal. Definitely bummed me out as I had not taken out my new kayak even once. It had been exactly two months since my purchase when called up Canoe County and asked if they would consider taking back my kayak. Without hesitation, they agreed to do so minus a restocking fee which I expected. Since I can't lift with my shoulder I didn't have a way to bring the kayak back and asked if they could pick it up. Again, they gladly agreed to do so. These guys are great and I highly recommend them for their kayak selection, knowledge and great service. When my shoulder is better, I'll be back to buy again from them again.

If you have been looking for a moderately priced good quality kayak, chances are you have found them out of stock everywhere due to the pandemic. I am in Tallahassee and there was nothing to be found locally or within a couple hours drive. We needed two kayaks, but I literally found ONE of the popular brand and style we wanted online, everything else was backordered for months. We expanded our search and found Canoe Country Outfitters. I was floored when they not only had the kayak we wanted, but in a variety of colors to choose from. They offered to hold our selection for us while I drove down, and 5 hours later they tied two beautiful kayaks to my roof rack with practiced efficiency. I'd like to tell you about my experience with Canoe Country Outfitters. I've known for a while now what I wanted to buy, but until now I had never even been kayaking. I did my homework for the last year and decided on the bonafide SS127. I want to do some serious fishing. When I called, Brandon answered and told me he had it in stock so I drove on down. It was absolutely the best customer service experience I've had. You should see the inside of this place. Talk about one stop shop. They literally have everything you want to go out on the water with. And Brandon is the man! He knows his business. Thanks again man! I love my new kayak and I will definitely be back.

We did months of research finding a kayak and we called canoe country outfitters and they were kind enough to order 2 old town pdl 120's for us. They explain it would take about about 2 months for it to come in. They called us us in 6 weeks and said it was in and we could come pick it up. We also bought a Yakima rack and roll trailer. We we arrived the kayaks were already strapped on the trailer and ready to go. Now that is service at it's finest. Scott and Brandon are awesome. Scott is has ordered us a cart to haul our kayaks from trailer to the water along with shipping us us a kickstand for the trailer as a courtesy that usually is not included. I would highly recommend Canoe Country Outfitters - you will not be disappointed! The staff are extremely knowledgeable and friendly while remaining modest and polite. This store has fantastic array of products for the experienced paddler or someone new to or interested in any aspect of the sport; and as an example, I was surprised to see replacement thwarts, yokes and seats right on the shelf. Not just a canoe store, but a great selection of kayaks and accessories; even Yamaha outboard engines. I'll be dropping by again soon when I'm back in the area visiting friends, though, it's well worth the four hour roundtrip if I need to pick up another boat...good luck!

Seasoned paddler here and brought my kayak in for some refurbishing. I particularly needed a new seat. It is an older model and the fellas said they didn't know what they'd be able to do, but they'd try. Well, I just picked it up and it looks awesome! The seat is back to new and it looks great. Price was a bargain too! Definitely check this place out. It is the real deal and it appears to cater to any level of paddling experience. Will definitely go back.

Want to talk about a great shop? Look no further. I rescue seabirds and have been looking to invest in another kayak. I was surprised with the wide selection of Kayaks, canoes, powered, outboards, paddles, electric bikes, PFD's, accessories, and roof racks. They have it all. Even the tow behind trailers and dollies. Sunglasses, repairs, advice, they have it all. One stop shop. Today I ended up with a new PFD, SUP paddle, Kayak feathered paddle, 2 lanyards, a fly fishing backpack, two mesh bags for gear or seabirds while I am out, and a couple cool stickers. I need to figure out my budget for the new Kayak and as I was discussing that with them. They offered top some other financial options. Killer. If you are looking for the best. Come in and have your mind blown!!!

LOVE THIS STORE Purchased a Perception Prodigy 12 from Scott. I highly recommend his store. They have a huge inventory of kayaks and their prices are remarkable. They also have lots of accessories avialible. Scott and his staff are very friendly and full of knowledge. This store is 90 miles away from my house and well worth the drive. I could not believe my luck at finding great kayaks here and at such a good price! I live in Clearwater and could not find any others, readily available. Two very nice looking Perception Swifty kayaks, a rack, a paddle, and other accessories- 1100. If you have been shopping around, you will see this is a great deal. The two gentleman running the store also set up our car rack, and secured the kayaks. In addition to a great retail experience, we also love the comfort and room these kayaks have provided. We have not only kayaked some canals since purchasing, we have also done Bellaire beach through a bay, to an island. We never felt unsafe for a minute! 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for this place. They were highly recommended to me by two couples who each bought their pair of kayaks from them. They're quite a bit farther than some other options but I was told it would be worth it and they were right. So, here's my experience...2 weeks ago, after 3 years of contemplation, we went down to buy one kayak but left with two kayaks, 2 sets of paddles, a life vest, some accessories, straps, and a roof system for a very good price. We went in close to closing time but Scotty, the owner, and Brandon stayed late and helped us make the perfect purchase, answered our endless questions, showed us how to install the roof system, and showed us how to tie down our new kayaks. Given the state of the world today and the isolation we are feeling from social distancing, this was a very happy and joyful experience for us. Fast forward the next day, we proudly took our new kayaks out to Caladesi Island for the best day we've had in a long time. As we were loading the 2nd kayak onto the car, our friend backed out of his parking spot and pulled his big truck with big tires right into the hull of my new yak!!!! I probably don't have to mention how hard it was for us to not cry. I called Scotty the next day and when I told him what happened I could tell from his voice that his pain was almost as great as ours. He had me send pics, told me how to water test it for cracks or leaks, and told me to bring it back and he would do whatever he could to spruce it up. I brought it down the next week. Apparently (I didn't know this) when a kayak made of the quality material that mine is made of gets dented, it retakes its form when left in the sun. So they gave the yak a good once over to make sure it wasn't compromised, removed the broken and snapped hardware, left it out in the sun to be sure it would retake its form (it did), and replaced the track. 3 days later they loaded it up for me to take home. Not only was their customer service amazing pre and during sale, but they really helped keep me sane, hooked me up, and took care of me post sale. I'm so glad we drove the extra miles to buy our kayaks here and appreciate Scotty, Brandon, and Tom tremendously!

Dealt with Scotty, the owner. Bought a 2019 Wilderness Systems Pungo 105 from him. You couldn't deal with a nicer, more genuine person. He is the real deal. He offers the help when needed, answers yours questions and just lets you browse if you want to without 'hovering' about. NO high pressure sales here! (I hate that). This store has the largest selection and variety of canoes and kayaks plus accessories I have seen in any area. I have been looking to buy a kayak and been researching them for 6 months, so I have been in plenty of stores in many states. I full time RV and travel alot. Trust me when I say that you will enjoy your shopping experience here.

Boat was ready within 12 hours of my purchase and they took the time to fit me for a paddle, vest and even mounted the kayak on my roof and taught me to strap it down. I've been searching up a WS Pungo 125 for months. Checked with this store a couple months ago and got my name on a list. Called again yesterday, and spoke to Tom. He told me there was one in stock and I made a commitment to get there before closing. Upon arrival I met Scott who told me all he had was a 120. Reluctantly, I purchased the 120 and headed out. Literally, 10 minutes later, Scott called me to tell me there actually was a 125 being held for a northern US customer who had finally realized he was unable to buy the boat. Scott stayed late after store closing hours and opened the back of the shop to accommodate the swap of the 120 for the 125 and had all the new paperwork finished when I arrived. He was genuinely concerned that initially I was not as happy as I should be and wanted to change that. His attention to this customer has won Canoe Country a new loyal customer. Thank you Scott! I purchased my Predator 13 in July 2014 and love it! I wanted a smaller kayak that was much lighter for both recreation and fishing. I went in inquiring about two specific kayaks and came out with a Wilderness Systems Aspire 105. This was not one of the two specific but after talking with Tyler and getting the comparisons, I knew I'd chosen a better option based on my specifics and Tyler's experience. I'm taking my Predator 13 in to have a rudder installed and I fully expect it will be installed as if it were their own kayak. I live in Tampa and quite frankly I'll always shop at Canoe Country Outfitters and will always recommend them! The staff is very knowledgeable, always friendly, willing to listen to your specifics, and fit you with the best possible product! Go to Canoe Country Outfitters and you will not be disappointed!

I’m sure he got tired of me pressing him on when my boats would get delivered but he handled me like a champ. So when the boats came in we made a trip to St Pete from Augusta, Ga to take delivery. I've rented from here for years. I have my own kayaks but sometimes take family and need more. Look all you want. You cannot rent a kayak for cheaper for 24 hours. It doesn't exist. These guys consistently provide nice kayaks and are spot on with customer service. A few times we even got brand new ones. They strap it on your car or suv for you. I have a Lexus sedan and they safely put one on the roof. They have an amazing inventory and accessories to snag before your trip. This place is the end all be all for kayaking in our area.

I became a frequent vistor to this shop over the last couple of years as I hemmed and hawed about whether or not to pull the trigger on a fishing kayak and how much to spend. I went to CCO to look specifically at the Old Town Topwater 106 PDL. I went right when they opened and boy do they have a TON of stuff! It's a canone/kayakers dream shop! Well organized, so you can see everything. Scotty helped me. I told him exactly what I wanted (a sub $2000 pedal drive fishing kayak), and was leaning toward the Topwater real hard. He asked me if I heard of a few others, just to see what is there in that price range. It wasn't in a "Let me sell you something else" tone either. I was introduced to a few other that I didn't think were in my price range, but after looking al all of them, I was confident going with my original choice. I'm glad I looked at the others, it just reinforced my original choice and how it was right for me. Here is the best part: They were running a special promotion, I got $200 of free gear. No limitations (pick from this, but not that...), anything in the store up to $200. That made him competitive even with the online prices I saw. He helped me put it on my car, showed me the proper way to strap it down, even how to tie a truckers loop knot (which I professed to him I needed to learn how to do to secure loads). He was very appreciative of my business, much more so than similar outfitters have been, it felt genuine. I will be return back for all my kayaking needs!

Canoe Country Outfitters is the finest canoe and kayak outfitter in the State of Florida. I have been a customer since the days they produced a hand typed and photocopied newsletter some 30 years ago! This is a true paddler's shop. You WILL be treated wonderfully regardless of weather you are an expert or beginner. There are many kayak shops out there that can be very stuck up and only cater to a certain type of paddler. I live near 4th and Gandy. There are a few kayak shops closer to me. I drive to CCO to make a purchase even if it happens to be a little more expensive. It is the INTEGRITY and KINDNESS of CCO that has kept me coming back all these years. I came in a few months ago looking for sheets of closed cell foam to re-outfit the cockpit of my Valley boat. The salesperson was distraught that they did not have what I needed in stock. Today, when I went by the shop, they had a stack of the exact closed cell foam that I needed. This is business done right. I cannot say enough about these guys!

7/6 Update: Seller admitted they overcharged and issued refund for the difference. 7/3 I’ve bought kayaks and various accessories from this store in the past and those experiences were great but a more recent experience left me disappointed and will not be returning as a customer. I prefer to buy local and love to support small businesses so that is why I chose to shop at Canoe Country rather than ordering online. On 7/2, I purchased an inflatable paddle board from the store and the board was not marked with prices. The sales associate checked with the owner (?) and he told him $799 (just conversing across the store, not checking system). Since I’ve had good experiences before, I trusted them to not overprice. After buying I went online to get more details about my new board and found that they had the price at $669 advertised on their website. The manufacturer website also shows $699. I called another local place and it is also $699. I searched this model online and the consensus is $699 or lower. I then called Canoe Country to ask about it and they said oh it’s because of shipping that we can’t sell it for that low and they forgot to update the prices on the website and would not honor the $669 price. I find this strange because most retailers will ship for free and the other local store couldn’t think of a reason why it would be $799. The paddle boards are also nonreturnable which I was not informed of before purchasing. It was a fine print on the receipt after the fact. Thinking back, when I was checking out the store owner had asked how I heard of the store. Maybe thinking that I am a new customer and trying to upcharge. This is my own experience and yours may be different. It was a costly mistake for not doing my due diligence and just want to warn everyone if you are shopping here, check prices online and their website and ask thoroughly before purchasing. I am attaching the receipt and a screenshot of the price on their website as of 7/3/21. You will see they put “Starting at” to CYA because either kayaks you can add different angler packages. The SUP package is complete with everything in a box and all other sellers have the price at $699. There would be no reason for them to charge a la carte. $130 more than the price on their website is ridiculous. You will also see that the item name on the receipt is different but that is just because BIC rebranded to TAHE. Again, I’ve had good experiences here before, this time just felt deceived and won’t be returning. Nothing wrong with the quality of product. Happy paddling.
