This is “The” outdoor adventures store in the area. Not only do they have gears and tools for any outdoor sport including winter sports, but their expertise has no rivals. Every time i shop there I am guided towards the exact item that meets my needs and expectations. They offer reasonably priced lessons on many outdoor activities including skiing and kayaking.they also service skis and other sport gears. Always recommend them to the new in town and anyone else.

Ever since I first discovered Bill Jackson’s after moving to the Tampa Bay area a few years ago, I’ve always enjoyed finding reasons to visit and shop there. I agree with all of the other positive reviews about the neat/quirky ambiance, warm hospitality, wide selection, and the staff’s knowledge of their respective departments. It is certainly possible to save a few dollars by shopping around and especially online... but I’ve always felt that I’ve gotten my money’s worth (and then some) from the positive experiences and customer support associated with shopping in person here. For those interested in safes and don’t mind some storytime, I’m happy to share my recent, very positive experience with purchasing one there: My family and I had been contemplating such an investment for months. After much research online, we decided to just go check out the selection of safes that we’d typically see on display towards the front of the store and to learn more about them in person. One of the employees noticed our interest and directed us to the entire separate room of safes on the other side of the pool, which I honestly didn’t realize had become additional retail space sometime in the last few years. There, we met Doug (one of the owners and one of Bill Jackson’s sons) and Wiley (one of the shop’s cats). Doug even introduced Wiley to my daughter who was thrilled by the experience too, as shown in the attached photo. Anyway, Doug took the time to find out what we were looking for in a safe, thoroughly explained things to consider when purchasing one, then showed us several different options. We really liked a specific model and color but didn’t commit to it at the time, mainly because we were anticipating remodeling the room the future safe would eventually go in and wanted to ensure that everything went as planned with it first. We happily accepted Doug’s business card and his offer to contact him with any questions in case we were still interested. As we gradually progressed with the remodel, I did end up periodically calling the shop and asking to speak to Doug for some questions on how to optimize the space for the prospective safe, all of which he helpfully answered. Months later, after the remodel and some other projects were completed, we returned to check out the safe one more time and to hopefully purchase it. (Thankfully, the one we were most interested in was still available... and at the same price as before, despite the dramatic increases in safe pricing nationwide!) Doug readily remembered us and our situation, then assisted us with completing the purchase. He was even able to schedule us for delivery/installation a mere two days later, which he personally performed himself at our home. I feel that he went above-and-beyond to ensure that the safe was perfectly transported, unloaded, positioned, balanced, bolted to our floor, and ultimately set up to our satisfaction. His attention to detail did not go unnoticed by us, and it is very obvious that he takes great pride in his work. Still, he was also fun to chat with and it was neat to get to know a little more about him, his family, and the business while he completed the job. All in all, I would even go so far as to say that I felt like Doug treated us as if we were family and not just customers throughout the whole shopping, delivery, and installation process. Perhaps I’m just a cynical millennial who has become all too accustomed to contemporary, impersonal, and often mediocre shopping and service... but regardless, I can attest that Doug and the other folks at Bill Jackson’s are doing so much right with their “old-fashioned” way of doing business and excellent customer service!

I've been coming here at least occasionally for over 30 years. They have a decent selection of products, competitive pricing, and a big shop. But what makes this place great is the staff. They're all knowledgeable, and usually personally very experienced, in whatever department they're in. Not only no high pressure sales, there's literally no pressure. I had a guy talk me into buying 1 thing online because they didn't carry it and he really thought it fit my needs. I've bought kayaking/paddling equipment, camping/hiking equipment, diving/snorkeling equipment, and firearm equipment here, and it's always the exact same experience. The only cons are, sometimes they're a bit limited in selection. And sometimes you can find some things cheaper on Amazon, though rarely by much. Though there's also been times where they have a better price than all online sources including Amazon, Cabelas, etc. And often they'll try to order it for you anyways. And unless it's $50+ on an expensive item, I'm happy to spend a few extra bucks here so i can have the staff to talk to about purchases. If you enjoy the outdoors and are going to spend money on it, you really can't put a value on a sales staff like this.

Wonderful place. I disagree with the previous reviews stating that the staff is unfriendly or too busy to help. I was kindly greeted by a store rep (even while he was in the middle of closing the sale on a sup). The items that I came for were in stock and reasonably priced. I expected to spend double on the kayak accessories I purchased. The other staffers I spoke with were knowledgeable and helpful (without being in your way or pushing for a purchase). You have my business for life.

Found this place after having a disappointing experience at another local store that sells snow skiing equipment, which of course is a rarity in Florida. Walked in here and was promptly greeted and directed to a separate area dedicated to winter sports clothing and equipment. I'm a complete novice, and two gentlemen (both named Bill ;) ) assisted me to get me all the gear I needed for a Christmas week on the slopes in Colorado. No upselling, in fact I was encouraged to look through their sale rack for outerwear and saved about $250 doing so. Great advice on what I needed, and what I didn't need. I was in and out in 30 minutes, and very happy.

I enjoy going to Bill Jackson. I call it the REI of St Petersburg. We went shooting at the range on New Year's Day. There were 5 of us and they were able to get us 2 lanes with no wait. We only had 2 guns as some in the party had never shot before, so it worked out well. They have 6 stalls available, and all are for handguns only. They allow 2 people per stall, so we had one wait outside for us. There is an observation room, so it wasn't really a problem. They do not take reservations. They require over the ear hearing protection, which is odd to me, but that's the rule. I had to buy some since they didn't have any for loaners. The cost was $15 per stall, but they took $5 off for buying ammo there, which was only about $23/50, so not bad at all. I'll definitely go back.

In this age of big box retail stores, this is a really unique place. It may not be a place to go bargain hunting. But if you want a store with top quality gear sold by people who actually know about the products they are selling you, this is the place to go.

We bought a great tent! It is a 6 person tent. The interior is very spacious! It is about 6 ft tall on inside. Husband is about 5'11 and he can stand inside comfortably standing in the center of tent.

This has to be one of my all time favorite stores! It is loaded with high quality outdoor sporting equipment and accessories. There is something for everyone at Bill Jacksons. They have everything from fishing, scuba, kayaks, camping, skiing, firearms, backpacking, and the list goes on and on. But whats even more impressive is the expertise and help of their amazing staff. I have been shopping here for over 10 yrs. I have purchased kayaks, camping gear, backpacking gear, etc. Every single time I have received detailed, no pressure assistance with picking out the perfect gear for my adventures. They had me try out my beloved kayak in their lake (12 yrs ago) and installed my kayak roof rack, they have advised me on numerous camping equipment over the years, most recently they fitted me for my hiking backpack (1 month ago), and spent hrs making sure the Osprey bag fit me well, and this past weekend they assembled a 6 person tent outside with myself and my boyfriend to make sure it was the right fit for our adventure. I have never left there regretting a purchase or wondering if I got the right equipment. I trust them and wish all of my life purchases where this helpful. Thank you Bill Jackson staff for all that you do to make shopping at your amazing store such a pleasure.

They had a large assortment of bags but I couldn't really find my way around. I was looking for camping gear and couldn't find the tent or camping section. It seemed like a hodgepodge of gear all over the place with a couple sections for specific sports (found water sports and shooting but couldn't find the camping). Seems like a nice place but it's not a spot I would go to just "pick something up". While they advertise the word adventure often in their store, it is an adventure just getting there and shopping.

Great shop and it is nice to be able to try before you buy in the pond out back. (I felt pretty good about not falling in because that would have been a mess.) Jade was very knowledgeable and helped me find the perfect SUP. She gave me several pointers and showed me how to safely load and secure it to my roof rack. I love this place! Great selection on all camping gear, fishing gear, ammo, guns, outdoor clothing, hiking gear, kayaks, paddle boards, scuba, water proof backpacks, yeti brand, and more! High quality long lasting outdoor equipment that you just can't find anywhere else. They even have an indoor pool for scuba classes! A gun range! They let you test out your kayak! The list goes on! I'm so impressed by their knowledgeable and friendly staff. I enjoyed the large parking area which resembled a camp ground and made you feel inspired to hit the trails! This past Tuesday 4-5-22 I visited Bill Jackson for the first time to use their shooting range. From the minute I walked in I felt SPECIAL. The front desk person was very nice and brought me over to the shooting range. I was quite nervous because it has been almost 50 years since I fired a pistol. I met a very nice man named Ross who guided me every step of the way and answered all my questions. He was super. The range itself was perfect. Six lanes very clean and well kept with the utmost in safety!!! If you want the perfect place to shoot and FIND EVERY POSSIBLE thing for outdoor entertainment 👍👍👍

Thomas H. in the Fly Shop is a customer service ROCKSTAR!. He understands the meaning of working to achieve "customer delight". He navigated me thorough a very expensive and complicated Tarpon fly fishing kit and was quick to make all things not just 'right', but perfect. On our last camping trip to Fort DeSoto (South West Florida) we were lucky enough to find a local dealer "Bill Jackson" that had the Jackson Take Two Kayaks in stock. The staff was super friendly and was able to answer all our questions. We do a lot of wild life photography and was looking for a stable platform to work off of. The seats are awesome and very confrontable. In fact the seats was the final selling point, especially the hi / low settings. Plenty of mounting points for go pros and cup holders etc. The only con would be the weight at just over 100 pounds, and a little slow to get started. Once you get it moving it tracks well. Keep in mind we didn't buy this one to race, we have others for that. If your looking for stability and lots of room you can't go wrong with this one. I'm very happy with this one and would buy it again.

This is the Scuba shop to go to! The staff are helpful, knowledgeable, and terrific. We drove there from Tampa, about 30 minutes because my wife wanted a comfortable 5 mill wet suit for an upcoming trip later this week. Tiffany was so helpful and my wife got a great suit at a great price. The shop has a large assortment of wet suits, BCDs and various other equipment. Definitely the place to go for dive equipment and I'm sure for scuba instruction as well.

This store is Phenomenal whatever outdoor sport your into the entire staff have the expertise in, not only showing you but help in teaching you how to. We signed up for Scuba lessons our NAUI dive instructor Ryan and dive assistant Nathan were super helpful and always there to help us and answer any dumb questions we had. I would recommend you to anyone that is considering Scuba. They even offer a try it out first to see if it's what you maybe interested in.

The Real Head Honcho

Cool place to shop. Only down side is it's expensive but from what I can tell whatever you buy will last a long time. I still have hiker gear from when I was younger and it's in great shape. Only ever bought one thing that didn't last and the production company ended up giving me store credit for it to buy something on their website. Marmot is not a good brad to buy here. Fishing gear is exceptional. Fly fisher gear is like nowhere else down here. They're dedicated to fly fishing and the staff is very knowledgeable.

Great facility with lots to offer, with a huge selection of outdoor gear for any activity you can think of. Took the concealed carry class here, and bought our home defense weapon here as well. Staff is knowledgeable, and they don't work on commission like some places, so they try to help you figure out exactly what you need & no more. Although the range isn't big, it's fun to go shoot a few rounds.

Friendly employees in all parts of the store that I visited (kayaks, hiking, sup boards, fishing), was nice to be approached, but also nice to be left alone when I made it clear I didn't need help. All gun store employees I've spoken with are also very helpful and accommodating. If I recall correctly they don't allow steel cased ammo at the gun range, which kinda sucks in this day and age (there is decent steel cased stuff out there). Prices were in some cases decent and in others slightly above average. Didn't like mask requirements when I was there a few months ago, but I fully respect the business right to choose to require them. All around great store, and they really have everything for outdoors, i'll continue to shop here, and recommend it to others!

Two of us went in looking for a scope base and ring mounts for a Ruger 10/22 rifle. They had both items and mounted the scope we brought with us at no charge! I was also looking for a base mount for a specific Red Dot Micro Optic I had for a Model 1911 pistol and they had one that was a perfect fit. Sales personnel and technicians were well versed with their product lines. Prices were very competitive!

Yesterday I went there to purchase a handgun for my wife. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I was greeted upon entering the store and in the gun area I was told sorry for the wait and someone would be help me very shortly, and they did. I already knew what I was looking for but Sam was still extremely helpful and was willing to answer any questions that you had. The background check process was painless lol. I highly recommend checking them out for anything outdoor related. They don't do just guns but scuba, camping, sking everything, even classes. Awesome store that has been around for decades, and the parking lot feels like you're in the country too.

OMG can this place please just kick us out!!! We've been here a dozen times from everything to scuba, kayaks to winter wear for our alaska trip back in Feb. This place is so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Money gets spent here on everything you need and want. And the prices are honestly comparable to other stores (cheaper though then REI... IE... BILLS smart wool shirts were like 20bucks cheaper for the same sku item) If you're us perhaps a little too much money is spent here which is why they should kick us out. It certainly would save us a lot of money.

Got our fishing Kayak here! We love it! Great employees with polite and helpful attitudes. We even had to leave and come back because we didn't have the right things to haul it back to our place. They were super polite about it and said they would just put it aside till be came back. Mind you they could have been rude since they had already carried the Kayak out for us only to have us discover we didn't have our stuff with us and then they had to carry it back in to hold it till we got back. They were super polite and gracious about it and said it was absolutely no problem. They offer Scuba certification for a fair price, and free Kayaking lessons with the purchase of one if you need them. I Would definitely go back there!!

Over the past several months, I have visited Bill Jackson's gun shop and range numerous times. In each case, I have found the staff to be exceedingly friendly and professional. Each time visited there they had the supplies I needed and made sure I was completely satisficed. This has always been my go to store for anything related to the sports I participate in but I have never written a review. This past weekend I went to Bill Jackson’s to purchase a roof rack for my new car and also asked for assistance in reattaching some gear for my Hullavator, a device that helps me load my kayak. When I arrived at the store Tim and Jade had my product put aside and all materials needed. They quickly got to work installing my roof rack and asking for my input, wanting to make sure I was comfortable with the placement. In addition they reattach the gear that I needed. They both went out of their way, were extremely resourceful, knowledgeable, and helpful. I don’t think there are many places that will provide this kind of service anymore. They make you feel like family and I have no doubt that if I ever had any issues or needed anything else they would be right there by my side helping me make it work. I highly recommend this place and if you get a chance to look up Tim or Jade I know there will be a big help to you.

Went out of our way to go to Bill Jackson's sports shop on Monday morning June the 27th having seen Bill Jackson's sport shop on a channel 13 coverage with Charlie Belcher Charlie certainly has a way of making things seem nicer and grander than they actually are I will say that Bill Jackson has gone to a lot of trouble to make an interesting entrance with much vegetation and not such a large open parking lot as you might find at a Bass pro Bill Jackson also has access to a small lake next to the sport shop that supposedly is used to demonstrate kayaks paddle boards and the like though we did not see anyone using the lake on our visit they also have an indoor pool used for scuba lessons and a small group of young people were in the process of learning about scuba diving

So I searched archery shops and this place came up close to where I live so I figured I'd give it a shot. Big store walked in had to find where they kept firearms so maybe five compound bows hanging and two employees behind the counter asked if there was any more bows and the one employee said something about how there's other employees here even though none of them can make eye contact with me. It was such a weird experience and all the guns were so expensive that I will definitely not come back. It's like a Florida Dollar Store version of Cabela's

Bill Jackson's is, without question, the best place around, specifically in regards to firearms! I purchased my first gun there about 4 months ago and was extremely impressed with the staff. Everyone...absolutely everyone I spoke with was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, courteous, etc. I was so impressed with them that I just purchased another firearm a week ago and didn't think twice about going straight to them. The prices are great, the atmosphere is very welcoming...and the staff is what really makes the difference. Took my ccl /cwp class there last week and I had an excellent experience. The owner personally greeted us and walked us threw a bit , and the instructor was very hands on knowledgeable and a piece of American history himself . I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to take their Florida weapons/safety course. As far as the store goes , it is incredible, too much to explain, sensory overload. I felt like a fat kid in a chocolate factory . You will have to go and experience it yourself. Oh I didn't mention the pool , very nice . And I'm sure they have dive and other aquatic classes also.

Pretty disappointed with the level of customer service in the gun shop. I understand that in current times they are incredibly busy and customer service understandably slips. I get it I really do. However it has become consistently worse each time I've been in over the past few months and I usually stop in to make a purchase 3-4 times a month. I've stopped going during peak times to avoid this problem but today I was one of three people in the store and after waiting over 10 minutes had someone from behind the counter tell me they couldn't help me because he was helping another customer. That customer whom the clerk was to busy helping had left the counter to go outside to get his Id. All I needed was to see if they had any 45-70 ammo. A very quick question. At least see what I need before dismissing me. It really bothers me to write this as I've been a very loyal customer over the years and a huge fan of the store but I've had several similar situations on the past few visits and enough is enough. If you are looking for great customer service in a local gun shop check out Cracker Boys Outdoors instead. If you are looking camping, hiking, or dive gear bill Jackson's is the best and the customer service in those departments is outstanding. They are the reason I still gave a 3

I came into the shop today not expecting very much as I had visited at least 6 other shops with the purpose of obtaining firearm accessories and ammunition. Scott, if I'm remembering correctly (a fantastic elderly man) helped me so so much that I HAD to write a review and let people know that he did such a great job and that you would be very lucky to have his help! Also, the cashier team was very sweet and friendly which was nice, as well as the general staff who all greeted me whenever passing by! *seems that I cannot add another review for a separate time coming in, or maybe I just missed how to do it. Great experience. I had wanted to buy a kayak of my own instead of renting and borrowing one. Last Saturday my sister and I came down to check your store out. Shawn was very knowledgeable and helped pick out 3 kayaks to try based on my larger than life body size. I was able to test these in the pond out back. Shawn went over pricing for kayak, rack and Thule hullavator. We left the store with great information. Sunday my son and I went to a competitor and were received in a very different way. The prices were the same but they didn’t have everything in stock and it would have been 2-6 weeks. So back to Bill Jackson and with Robin’s help bought Thule rack, hullavator and Malibu 11.5 all in stock. They were able to install same day. On my way home one of the end caps with lock for the rack came off. I was able to contact Robin and had replacement done by Wednesday. Awesome service. Bought a gun safe there recently. Been there a couple of times before and enjoyed the fact that nobody was trying to push the sale on me. Finally when ready to purchase I was lucky enough that the team there was willing to spend as much time as necessary with me as I needed and offer their expert opinion and again without trying to push anything more expensive for me to buy. Purchased a Equinox 800 metal detector for $949 then when I went to Myers Metal Detectors to pick up some waterproof headphones on Saturday April 3rd 2021 they told me I could have got it from them for $899 in store but not online. Came into the store ready to buy a new rod and line when to my surprise Shawn asked to take a look at my rod I was having trouble with. He discovered my fly line was dirty and cleaned it for me. We went to Bill Jackson's to check out their ski gear as we are headed to Colorado on a first time ski adventure. I wasn't really planning on buying anything (just shopping) or everything but we did! First off they have an amazing staff who are extremely knowledgeable. Paul greeted us as we entered and then it was off to the races. He is an avid skier and shared a lot of tips and made sure we were fitted properly. He didn't push anything on us or try to sell us the most expensive gear, he basically shopped for us as he would himself. He handed us a handy check list and marked the essentials. Amazing service! Now as far as price goes, nearly all of the "new" this years gear will be at full list retail price, don't expect any sales or discounts here. They do have some last year clearance gear in the back but its fairly limited. You can most definitely piece together the same gear online at a discount. I thought of this strategy but at the end of the day, I felt that the service I received made up for the premium prices. Isn't that the definition of "value"? Well done Bill Jackson's! You wont find the level of staff that Bill Jackson's has, they have experts in nearly all of the lines they sell....and they truly are passionate about what they do. If you are looking for new gear or even need help because you are a first timer.....you wont be disappointed. Just don't expect bargain rates on bargain gear, they sell quality stuff and their staff are some of the best in the country.

My first time in Bill Jackson's, and the store was super clean, but the staff seemed preoccupied to want to help me. I was looking for a triathlon wet suit and called ahead to make sure my size was available. It was, but I had never been in the store before, so I didn't know where they were located. I lucked out with one employee who helped me find them, but that was it for assistance. I didn't buy my wet suit there, but it looked like they had a ton of other stuff...as long as someone would take the time to assist a customer!?!

I think what people are seeing is the simple fact that they don't carry a lot of cheap garbage. They carry only high end and quality brands. Their customer service is really good. Here is situation: I have never been on a serious camping trip before and this was my first time buying a tent I bought the MSR elixir 2 tent after reading such wonderful reviews. It turns out it had a small hole in it. Now me having never been on a serious camping trip was afraid that if it started to rain it might make my experience quite bitter. So I headed back to the store and I got there right at 6:01 PM and they were still able to help me out. They exchanged the tent and even made sure the new tent had no defects. This is the coolest outdoor store! Driving in through the pine tree lined parking makes me feel like I'm about to go camping rather than shopping and totally sets the mood to get dirty. 🏕️ Though I usually leave feeling like I need to earn more money to buy more gear each time I visit, I love how this place is fully stocked with the items I need in preparation for each adventure I take.

Shocking service! Went in to buy ski and snowboard boots in April (I know an odd duckling) and had Steve help us in the ski shop. The ski part of the store was about to close up for the summer and it was there last weekend before they reopen it in the Fall. Frankly I was expecting prices to be on the high side still as it's brick and mortar and I was expecting almost no service and very limited if any knowledge as it was spring and hey were in in FL. Maybe because it's FL I've come to expect near zero service and zero knowledge of anything technical when shopping around various parts of FL. I could not have been more wrong! Prices were very competitive and Steve was among the best employees I've EVER encountered in retail - EVER! Having just returned from a ski trip he blew away the ski shop employees in Colorado. He took his time, and gave us old skiers returning to the sport badly needed advice on the advances in the sport over the last decade. He was honest, friendly, funny, patient, and just the best at his job. He genuinely cared and gave solid advise and perfectly fitted 2 pairs of boots. After the purchase we are still in awe of the service and hope he's there forever. Thank you Steve!

I really like this store and have never had a problem with customer service yet. I use the pistol range mostly and have had great conversation with the gun employees in there on what I need for my survival bag. They have gone far above and beyond to accommodate my questions and gun accessories. The only thing that would make the place better is if they had a rifle range, which even the gun guy's in there would like as well. The store is always busy so keep in mind they try their best to help everyone but can be thinned out at times and it may seem like their ignoring one to new visitors. I'd rather see this place busy and active rather than see it go under. They have so much stuff in their store it is very overwhelming the first few times you go in. I have been there about 15 times so far and feel like I haven't seen a 10th of what they sell.

While I can't expect every member of staff to be knowledgeable in every aspect of outdoor sports, or in my case hunting supplies, however I can expect any member of staff of any business who is tasked with answering a phone to provide basic customer service or at least to be polite in their lack of knowledge. I've been to this store twice and had good results with the staff in-store, however when I called recently to inquire about an item being in stock or not to save myself a trip, I was met with an attitude, a lack of information, and being told to "just come down" thus defeating the point of calling ahead. Hopefully the lady I spoke with doesn't think that being extra busy due to current events, gives her the leeway to be rude to potential customers, as it is the goal of every business to be as busy as possible.

Bill Jackson’s is one of my favorite stores in the area. You can’t just walk in and not spend some time looking around. Excellent customer service someone is always willing to help and answer any of your questions. I use the range a lot and enjoy the gun shop. Recently I was in the market for a new metal detector, I had done weeks of research on line and I had narrowed my field down to two models. I knew that I might find one cheaper on line and I was pleased to see the prices the same at Bill Jackson’s. I met with a store employee who was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful on the two models I was interested in. He took the time to demonstrate then and show me the comparisons of the two. He recommended one model and after explaining the advantages and seeing the price I made my purchase. He put the detector together and reviewed it again. I am so happy with my choose and the service I received. Don’t waste your time on line go to Bill Jackson and get the price and excellent service.

Well, what can you say about Bill Jackson and their awesome store. My wife bought me an expensive metal detector and I wanted to view their selection of accessories. The prices are premium but their selection are numerous. I especially enjoyed their huge selection of firearms and accessories. They have just about everything you could possibly want for venturing outdoors. Whether it's an extended stay in a remote mountain location, the open sea, or even underwater. Their sales staff proved to be both knowledgeable, polite, and helpful. I took note of the fact that the staff was quick acknowledge any new customer, but not to be too pushy; allowing people to walk around and look at whatever caught their attention. This is not a small store by any means. There's a large pool where scuba diving lessons take place. An indoor shooting range, and outside seating areas. They had a reasonably wide variety of inventory available to choose from. The only reason I'm not giving Bill Jackson's 5 stars is THE PRICES! You are going to find excellent, high quality gear - and you're going to pay a premium for it. Shopping online would likely allow you to find what you're looking for at a lesser price, but some things you want to hold and feel before you buy.

Recently I ordered a bike rack from Yakima. Because of the pandemic several parts were on back order. Once we finally got everything assembled I started to put the bike rack together. Turns out, one of the pieces were still missing from the kit. We were leaving on a trip three days later so this was kind of a disappointment. I talk edto Yakima and they apologized. Also, they did not have the piece in stock. So not able to help. They said I should call Bill Jackson adventure in St. Petersburg. This is where we were staying for the last few months. I reached out to them and talked to Tim in their installation department. He was able to locate these parts for me in their stock room. Lifesaver. After I put the bike rack together I also noticed that we were missing several lock cores to lock the bike rack down to our truck. No hesitation this time, called Bill Jackson and they had them in stock. We drove over and got them and installed them the same day. I don’t know how they do on the rest of their stuff but everything they've done with me has been fantastic. Highly recommend.

**Gun Store Review** Knowledgeable staff, that's patient and seem to want to put the right gun in your hands, not a gun in your hands right now. They don't seem to be the type that will balk at a particular cartage, but will give you their opinion of it. Prices are fair for a brick and mortar. Range rules are fair..I do appreciate the no Russian ammo rule (that stuff is kinda filthy). Went in to buy a gun I saw on sale online while they didn't have it marked at the sale price I inquired about they made their best effort to honor it through getting a manager. I showed them the deal on my phone just to reassure them I wasin't trying to jerk them around and he honored it. I really appreciate that, also got a free 30 day range pass with the purchase of my firearm. Great place to be honest. Also, 4pm on a monday..4 employees in their gun department alone. That's customer service, and that's why you pay a premium for their wares, honestly I don't have a problem with that.

Love Bill Jackson's. Been going here for years. Have every thing you need for the out doors. From everything Lodge Cast Iron makes to scuba gear and training pool,also a snow ski treadmill to check out your snow skies. "Everything", little pricy but there not a chain store employees are always great. Also they have a great gun shop with a shooting range which also has all you need for the gun enthusiast. This is where I spend my money. It can get a bit busy but it's worth it. They sell guns from every manufacturers you can think of and some you never heard of. The please is way more personable than Shoot Straight. You can walk around in there for a half hour without any sales people asking you if you need help. Bill Jackson's has been around for many many years if you happen to be in the area stop in you won't regret it.

Bill Jackson's has become one of my go-to places for outdoor gear. I've lived in Florida a long time and whenever I need something that is durable for fishing, diving, or skiing this is the first place I come. Recently I worked with Tony in the fishing department on waders and he gave me excellent prices on great brands that are normally much more expensive other places. This is the second time he's giving me a recommendation on waders that will last more than a few seasons. That is a rare find alone!

I was having a problem with new magpul front & rear sites for my AR15 pistol. They were so tight, I just couldn't get them to slide on. I brought it to Bill Jackson's, and it wouldn't slide on for the employee either. So he brought it in the back and secured the firearm. It took both hands for him to get them on, but he did it. A friend recommended I go to Bill Jackson's saying that they are very helpful, and he was absolutely right! I'm going back tomorrow to buy some Christmas presents for my kids!!

Looks like a great store but not easy to navigate. Wondered around for 5 minutes before asking two employees that were standing at the check out chatting where the climbing rope was located. They both pointed "over there." I looked as I was walking "over there" and could not see what I was looking for. One of the employees must have heard my frustration and came to help. He stated he did not know much about the rope and called on the radio for someone to assist. Which was helpful because customers are not allowed to cut the rope themselves. I would recommend that if someone is looking for rope then they should call the employee that is knowledgeable from the beginning. I must say that once the rope person did arrive, he was very knowledgeable.

Make it to Tampa area at least once a year from IL. Always make it a point to go to Bill Jackson's. Legit outdoor shop with the feel of old Florida. Excellent fishing (fly), firearms, and kayak people. Know what they're talking about because they participate in those activities. I'm sure the scuba folks are just as good, I was just built to float. Never felt sales pressure, they just answer questions straight and help as much as possible. Maybe my 2nd review online, that's how much I like this place.

In my humble opinion, with retail management background, I think they have too much inventory in a lot of areas and of a lot of items . Then they also have not enough product variety. They do have a fairly decent selection as it stands. Many people may not realize but they're a full scuba shop and shooting shop. They have a gun range on site and a pool for certification.

I love taking my family there and have spent lots of time and money in the Scuba shop, fishing area, camping area, kayak area, snow-ski shop, gun range, shoe store, (did I miss anything??) I have been diving for over 20 years, I love to shoot, Hike & camp. I fish and kayak and Snow ski. I have been going to Bill Jackson for probably 30+ years starting when I was a kid. There prices may be a little high sometimes but this is a family business, not a big-box store. People complaining about slightly high prices are driving these types of stores out of business. take your money to big-china-mart. I went there to purchase a new handgun and got personal, friendly advice. the guy there brought in his personal weapon so I could make sure I was making the right choice. I had friends in from a socialist EU country where guns are illegal and they rolled out the red-carpet when we went shooting and treated them like royalty (and they weren't selling anything!). Fantastic shop. Go and see for yourselves!

The dive shop guys and girls are very friendly and knowledgeable. The scuba certification course is a bit more expensive than other shops, but you get what you pay for. Neal is a GREAT instructor, and he was very patient with the kids in my class (they were a handful). Highly recommended!

Bill Jackson's is locally known as the go to place for all your outdoor needs from SCUBA to kayaking, guns, camping, and backpackers. Selection is top notch. (I'm going to edit out this comment about getting cheaper stuff online, you get what you pay for and being able to try out products first-hand is worth it anyway!)There is that nice feeling of being able to hold, feel, and even test the product you're interested and i know BJ has been a good company involved in the community and offers classes for outdoor activities. Gun ranges and scuba pools dont pay for themselves and they've got them. They have an absolute mad selection of camping and backpacking gear. The property and everything there is really cool to just check out, it really is an adventure store! edit: Thanks for the info BJ's, I'm sure your prices are very competitive, there's just so many Chinese cheap knockoffs on Amazon, you definitely get what you pay for though, and when deep in the woods you really should be getting the best for yourself. One of the best outdoor shops I've been to. That had the ammo I was looking for at a great price that other stores didn't even have. They had plenty to choose from for your outdoor sports. They had winter sport equipment, kayaks and paddle boards, tons of diving gear, camping and hiking, fishing, metal detecting, and a great gun section. It had almost everything that REI would have.

They have great fishing gear, kayaks, dive gear and lessons, backpacking and camping gear, knives and guns including a firing range! It’s just such a cool place. Climbing gear, ski gear, metal detectors, and a full selection of pre packed adventure food. Bill Jackson died in 2014 but his store lives on unchanged. I will be shppping here for years to come. Here's how I would describe Bill Jackson's...imagine a big box sporting goods store, now take away any low quality items, get rid of the fad products that are just marketed to separate a fool and his money, remove any unknowledgeable or unhelpful associates...what you are left with is Bill Jackson's. They have everything you need for outdoor recreation, nothing you don't. They also have an excellent staff that can point you in the right direction. I was gearing up for a hiking/camping excursion and was told to go to Bill Jackson's. I had seen some of the prices and thought I would just order what I needed on Amazon. The staff there was able to put me in the equipment I needed, showed me what I did not need (which is just as important when you have to carry everything for a trip like that on your back) and all in all I saved money over what I had originally budgeted. Not only that, but the products they carry are of a quality that, even after some hard use, I still have everything I purchased, and it's all in good working order. I can not recommend enough!

My son and I were in Bill Jackson's to purchase ski equipment and apparel for an upcoming ski trip. We were greeted at the door by their sales associate, Paul who was very friendly and could tell by the bewildered look on our faces we had never been to this establishment. Paul took us under his wing and explained very thoroughly what we needed in a ski helmet to keep my son safe. After his help he faded away, not hanging on while we were perusing the store. At one point another associate, Adrian offered us assistance with other items and again showed knowledge of the products in store, after which he politely walked away to leave us to further shopping. Finally, we had questions in regards to more products and another associate, Bea assisted us. Again, she was patient and very knowledgeable about each product we had questions about. Our experience at Bill Jackson's was above and beyond. It was very helpful to have knowledgeable and capable staff to assist in our questions and needs. Walked in looking for a fishing Rod and real for salt water on shore fishing. I haven’t gone in a long time and wasn’t sure exactly what I needed. In the tackle department a sales professional spent a great deal of time showing me many different choices. What impressed me was the time he spent not knowing if I were going to make a purchase and continued explaining each rig and the differences making my selection a little bit easier. After I made my decision he then suggested a combo that would fit my needs for an added savings. He then suggested the line to use loaded the real and set up everything for me. We had great help by Robyn, a precious lil' hippie who was so nice to us and had great advice for choosing a board in our budget. On July 30 I purchased a Diamond Infinite Pro compound bow for my son from Bass Pro Shop (big mistake), we were there till almost 9 pm as they tried to tune it, the next morning we stopped at Bill Jackson's where I planned on getting myself a recurve bow. I had a question about the bow I had bought for my son so I had him bring it in for Russ to look at. Understand we were heading out for a family day with a 4, 6, and 8 year old. As well as my 18 and 20 year olds, my wife and I. So a big group. The team in the Gun/Archery Shop made us all feel welcome, lollipops for the kids, and answered all our questions. But the real important part....Russ, the archery guy, found that my son's brand new bow was missing a screw and not tuned correctly or evenly. He fixed it for us saved us from a ruined day and possibly an injury. Can not thank them enough. Great service, great gear, and great professionalism. Thank you. By the way, my new recurve is amazing.

Nice place with plenty to offer for all outdoor sports. There's a pool for dive instruction, kayak, and and paddleboard lessons. Indoor gun range with ccw classes available. Prices are a bit higher, but they do not sell cheap stuff, they stock top of the line equipment for everything you need for Alaska to Florida and everything in between. Gun stor staff were extremely knowledgeable, and well trained. If you need anything for scuba, kayak, shooting, or just making a cup of coffee in the outdoors, this is the place to get equipment that will last years.

" At other places, it was more like "You Gotta get this." I like a staff that is helpful, but not pushy. In my case, I purchased the 3 month Range Pass. They only have 6 lanes, so I stay away on weekends when they have classes, and I practice early on workdays. "Works For Me.". 😀

The store is THE BEST of its kind in this and the surrounding area for all it provides EXCEPT GUNS KNIVES & AMMO, those people are good 'ol boys that act like they're at their house and not a business when it comes to service. They'll get to you once the 3 working staffers are done with they're conversation, I'll buy a gun in an alley before i purchase one there. The run sales on dive equipment several times a year. Deep discounts on things like regulators in November, BCs in say, October. Not sure about the months but that's the gist. Very nice store.

A visit to Bill Jackson's is always a great experience and one of the many hidden gems West Central Florida is known for. This locally owned and operated sporting goods may not be the biggest but in my opinion is one of the best. The staff are all trained in the fine art customer service. Prompt, courteous, personable, and knowledgeable. If they don't know they will introduce you to another member of the staff that does. The impressive range of product can at first be overwhelming. Here's my version of the virtual tour... The B.Jacksons experience starts in the "parking woods" with a short drive winding through the woods scattered with parking spots leading to the front door. Entering the store you can see the different departments, ski snow and water, from equipment and repairs to the latest in apparel add-ons. Kayaking and canoes and instructions for beginners and experts alike. Extensive dive shop offering certification courses, and customizable outfiitting services. Fishing tackle from cane polls, to complete deep sea packages and fly fishing classes. Camping gear for beginners and experts alike. Hunting... offering full time S&W certified smith services. All of the selection you expect to find in the best gun stores including 65' indoor range. Check the extensive collection combat rifles displayed up high on the walls. I probably have missed something... all the better for you to explore and find when you come by. Almost forgot, property runs along a 20ac. lake where you can try out/take classes with expert supervision. ENJOY

I visited the BJ store to check out their selection of backpacks for hiking the AT. I met Roger who properly sized me up for a 65L pack. A few years ago, I traveled some distance to another well known outdoor store to buy a pack for the Camino and they didn't size me up. Eventually, I bought my Camino pack online with a gift card but I had really no clue what correct size I was. So, for the AT, I headed back to Bills. I believe it was very important to get the right size of pack for my thru hike! Roger also went through all the accessories of the pack and took time to answer many questions about the other AT gear on my list. Thank you for the help!

Bill Jacksons has a GREAT selection of camping equipment, fishing, hiking and water gear. But stay out of the gun section. I have been to the shop numerous times over the years to look for ammo, guns and accessories. While the staff in the rest of the store are great and will ask if you need help, the group of gentlemen that man the Firearm section of the store seem to be in their own little club and don't have time to deal with customers. NEVER have i ever been asked if i need help when looking at the gun case. Unless you specifically ask someone for help you will be ignored and even then you may be ignored. During my most recent visit i just needed a box of ammo (Which their ammo is crazy pricey but i ran out of .38 and sadly so did the normal gunshop i go to so i needed ammo for a range and quick so i paid the price) When i went into the gun area there was one person helping a customer 3 people looking in the cases and about 5 (YES 5!) employees all at the far end of the counter just chatting away. I looked around for just a few moments to give them time to finish their chat and after realizing it wasn't a work meeting or something i approached the employees. As soon as i got to the end counter and said "Excuse me" 4 of them went into the back room and completely ignored me while the 5th looked around like he had heard a noise that he just couldnt tell where it came from. I spoke up again asking if i could get someone to help me, and when ignored again i raised my voice a bit to make sure i was heard. It was only at this point i was offered any kind of assistance. This isn't the first time ive been ignored there and im not sure why they do it. Ive been there before, asked for help, been told to hold on. Sat at the counter for 30min and then finally left when i realized that they were just back at the back counter talking to each other again. And all i wanted to do was spend $800 on a new pistol. If your looking for a great outdoor shop i highly recommend it. If your looking for a gunshop, keep looking.

This is an independent sporting goods store that is very popular with the locals. They give the big boxes some real competition. Besides having a large selection of fire arms, they also have a firing range inside. Also, a swimming pool for scuba lesson.
