Reviews of Cripple Creek Backcountry Seattle

So I have been skiing and snowboarding for 52 years. Plus my backcountry experience has been in place for 32 years now. With over a hundred days a year for all of those years. So my knowledge is extremely vast. The intel that I have to share with you is important. To your success in the department of making great purchases. Buying online is one thing but when you are making an investment as large and with a high need for quality and proper fit. You need to go to a shop and check out all of your options. For you can not and will not be able to figure out if it is the exact correct purchase by just looking online. You need to have your hands on the product and get some knowledgeable intel from a staff that knows how to look at you and make some intuitively decisions on what will work good for you. My friend Mike Warner and his staff at the Seattle store are more than well equipped enough to handle all of your needs. As well as any other Cripple Creek Backcountry location. This year I picked up a new Cardiff snowboard along with some new Sparks pucks, bindings, and phantom toe pieces plus some Atomic Backland ski boots with a custom boot fitting. These guys n gals where so great at helping me. I am totally and completely satisfied with all areas of there service. And let me tell you what if you are looking for a super dank snow sliding utensil I would more than highly recommend any of the boards in the Cardiff lineup.

The people who operate Cripple Creek Backcountry are amazing folks. Great attitudes, super helpful, and just all around fun. If you're looking for new backcountry ski gear or gear for other outdoor sports, don't hesitate to check them out

Great experience at Cripple Creek Seattle. I’m a lifelong skier who is just getting started going into the backcountry. After a 1:1 appointment I walked away with everything I needed! Mike was very helpful during each step of the process. I didn’t feel rushed or pushed to make any decisions. I’ve been mansplained at ski shops in the past, at Cripple Creek I felt respected and comfortable selecting the gear that fit my needs.

Gear: Quality of gear for backcountry equipment is great. I’ve been looking for a place with this amount of bags.
Customer service: With most backcountry/ski shops I think it’s reasonable to expect a lil cordiality or welcome when entering the shop and checking out the gear. It took them 15 mins to say anything to me.
I’ve been looking for airbags and great backcountry bags for about a year (since mine was stolen).
So when I asked to check out the airbags (avy pack), it took them another 5-10 mins to tell me the prices (they’re hung up out of reach and tags weren’t visible). I asked the guy if they had a smaller BCA airbag. He told me that I would never want that in the backcountry. The I asked if they had an edger (edge tuner). He said “you don’t need edges in the backcountry”… among other pieces of unsolicited advice with adjunct passive aggressiveness
I’ve been snowboarding for at least 15 years and doing backcountry for ~3 years, but clearly they judge the customer and disregard any standard for customer service. I wanted to like the place and really consider buying an airbag, but left with a bad taste.
Like c’mon folks, just treat your customer with some respect, ask if they need anything, and be a lil nicer.

This shop is filling a critical gap in Seattle. Everything you could possibly need for backcountry touring is at this shop. Paired with the extremely knowledgeable staff, Cripple Creek shines where most ski shops fall short.

These guys know their stuff. 1 on 1 appointment allows them to customize your setup to your needs. Nice assortment of high end products makes Cripple Creek the quieter more focused place to go for BC equipment and service 👍🏻 …

I brought them a pair of problem boots I'd gotten from another shop. With a little trial and error, and a couple visits, they've managed to take my forked up boots and substantially unfork them. Much needed padding was added in multiple places around my ankles to lock them in and minimize blister issues. I went out today and didn't need to tape my ankle for the first time. Michael has made the punches I've needed, and to boot they've been gorgeous. They blend with the shape of the boot beautifully and without compromising key space I need. I'm super excited to have found some people who can make my funky feet comfy!

Wanted to update my previous review, the folks at Cripple Creek went the extra mile to fix a snafu due to an earlier than usual store closing. Still working out the logistics but I my skis will get to me on time for my big backcountry trip. Sometimes it’s the difficult situations that a business really shines. Thanks for the extra effort in getting my skis to me!

Ordered some stuff from these guys and prior to shipping found out the board I ordered (the last one in stock of the kind in the size) was damaged. They called me up and did everything they could to get me a board that suited my needs. Very knowledgeable and helpful with any and all questions I had. Really excellent experience and I would go back to them with any future purchases.
Kirsi
Solid 5 stars, thanks for helping me with with the split setup!

These guys should be everyone's backcountry touring, climbing etc one stop destination. I did not have an appointment and they were still able to help me pick bindings and get them mounted and skins cut the same day. Also they have beer and coffee (: Very nice helpful people!

Great service. These guys went over and above to help me purchase a pair of skis and bindings and have them shipped international as soon as possible. Great service. Thanks!

As a listener to the the podcast for years now I always got bummed when I’d see sales in Colorado. Now they have a store up here to too! Which will help relieve some pressure on the current boot fitters around the area and bring more expertise. I look forward to coming in and checking out the place.
