Best place to get shoes. I don't run; I have bad knees. But I needed a good set of shoes. I show up and was helped immediately, even though they were busy. I got my feet mapped and tried on a set of shoes. Got recorded on the treadmill and then was matched up with 6 pairs! The staff were all super friendly even when I asked the most silly questions and took over 25 minutes to decide on a pair of shoes. They only have running shoes, no basketball or tennis shoes or boots or anything. It's still a wonderful experience, and I will be back to buy all of my comfy shoes. They are reasonably priced from what I can tell.

Everyone was so helpful! I really appreciated the 3D scan of my foot and my gait analysis while running on a treadmill. The first pair of shoes I bought ended up giving me blisters on the arches of both feet after a 4-mile run, so I exchanged them for On Cloudmonsters and I'm in LOVE! I'm so thankful for their generous return/exchange policy; now I can run happy! I will definitely be back to buy more gear throughout the summer.

I had such a good experience at Mill City Running. I am doing physical therapy to recover from a back injury, and needed good walking shoes to put my custom orthotics into. The staff at Mill City Running were so friendly and helpful. I think their selection of shoes and clothing is wonderfully curated. The store itself is really warm and welcoming, with a sort of rustic, outdoorsy MN vibe. I also really appreciated that some of the sales staff were wearing masks, and the woman helping me put on a mask when she saw I was wearing one. That is A+ customer service. I will definitely shop here again in about 6 months when I need replacement shoes!

I finally wore out my first pair of running shoes that I just bought online and decided to check out Mill City Running. They were absolutely incredible. Took a 3-D scan of my feet and took slow motion video of me running on a treadmill. They were knowledgeable in different ways to balance my stride to mitigate injuries. Tried on 4-5 pairs of shoes and was able to test them out on the treadmill and then got a whole lesson on nutrition from one of the workers, John. I cannot recommend this place enough!!! Amazing staff, great environment, and taught me a lot about what a really need to bring my running to the next level👍👍

This store is a runners dream. They have a large selection of shoes and gear for such a small space. The staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming. Plus, they will help you understand your feet -- your arch, running gait, etc. -- so you can know what the best shoe is for you (whether you buy it from their store or a different one). Included in a staff members assessment, they have a 3D scanner that takes images of your feet that you can get emailed to you for free so you can use it anywhere in the future.

Absolutely loved my experience getting shoes at Mill City Running. A store employee named Ellen gave me the best shoe-fitting experience I've ever had, and even pulled every single color option so that I could choose my favorite. She even made a phone call to Mill City's sister store, Saint City, to reserve the shoe color I wanted. It's clear that the staff all really enjoy each other and love working at the store, and they pay close attention to their customers too. Can't recommend Mill City enough!

I've been a long-time fan of Mill City Running. I recently went back to buy another pair of trail shoes. I told Jonah, the salesperson, that I needed a size 10. He grabbed one pair for me, and I thought they felt good. He felt the shoes and suggested I tried a size up. I did and was dubious, but he urged me to consider it. I ran the treadmill and thought they felt ok, so I bought them thinking I may want to return them later. After a number of training runs and a trail half marathon in these shoes, I realize I was steered in the right direction;. The shoes felt great! This is why I go back. I get reliably good advice and great customer service. I love supporting a local business with kind and caring staff and owners. I'm not as hardcore as a lot of the runners that shop there, but I'm always helped immediately and with a smile and if anything is off about my shoes, they make it right.

I have now been into this location multiple times over the last 8 years and this is the best running store in the city. The attention each employee has given to me and my questions has been amazing. We were visiting the Twin Cities and decided to look for some new running/walking shoes. For my wife. We first visited a store in St Paul where we had a poor experience with a store/salesperson who really didn’t know how to help people or didn’t want to help us. The next day we stopped by Mill City Running where we were immediately greeted and treated like friends and family. After some trial my wife found a pair that fit perfectly along with some inserts. I was wandering about while helping my wife and another nice salesperson asked if I would like to try some shoes on while I wait. I did. Everybody here was friendly and nice and we walked out with shoes and inserts for my wife and a pair for me.. With friendly service like this, we will return. Thank you.

Also bought a pair of walking shoes that after foot scan, they showed me multiple shoe options to maximize care & comfort for my feet. Staff is well-versed, technical & so very supportive! Got some hoka running shoes here. As an experienced distance runner I found the Staff knowledgeable about running shoes and gave me several options to try on, any of which would've worked. This running store would also be ideal for first-time runners. I go to some of the community runs, and would recommend others to go as well. But the person who fit me for shoes was so friendly and kind that he immediately put me at ease. They also have extended sizes for clothes and bras, so they probably have something for you even if you’re a bigger runner.

Post injury rehab, I wanted to take up running. I suffer from plantar fascitis and sciatic pain. Knowing the right pair of shoes are one part of the solution, I stopped by Mill City Running in NE MPLS. Immediately felt welcomed and heard about the pain. They measured my feet with a fancy machine and had me work through 5-6 pairs of shoes that best fit my feet. Then they had me walk/jog on a treadmill to ensure the shoes corrected my foot placement. It felt very non-judgmental, and they were incredibly patient. I walked away with a great pair of running shoes, and then have since gone back for sports bras. They measured me for bras and helped with the right fit and style based on my need. Again, a very reassuring environment. 100% will shop here again and recommend it to everyone looking to get into moving their bodies.

I'm doing my first triathlon for charity and they answered all my running questions and took two hours to walk me through the whole process of picking out shoes. To be honest, I wanted to go try on a variety of the Brooks shoes at this store and then planned to buy them for discount online, but I am SO GLAD I bought my shoes directly from MCR, not only bc of the dedicated time and knowledge they invest in you, but when I had an issue with the shoes I bought (I ended up buying non-Brooks and significantly regretting it) they did everything they could to help me find the new perfect shoe, with kindness and consideration. What an incredibly inclusive place! I visited Mill City Running for the first time today after reading about their free gait and shoe fit analysis online. They provide this as a FREE (!!!) service so you can find the right shoe for you. Richy helped me out today -- he watched me walk, helped me understand my foot scan, analysed and showed me my run, and recommended shoes that were suited for my slight pronation, wider feet, and lifestyle. As a non-runner, I had a looot of questions and he was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and so friendly. The analysis was quick (~5-10 minutes) and we spent the rest of the time I was there finding the right shoe for me. I left feeling so good! Thank you Richy and the Mill City Running team!

He scanned my feet and took videos while I ran on the treadmill. He quickly diagnosed my issue and gave great recommendations. It was quite by accident that I discovered Mill City, one late october evening. But, it was one of the best accidents that ever happened to me. I was new to the city and was just discovering and met the great owners- who welcomed me to the twin cities with open arms and got me included into the fledgling (at that time) community they were building. It was great meeting so many amazing people and running with them- and most importantly, the sense of community was around the people and not the activity - so the runs were made far more pleasant with the company rather than the scenery - which as I have posted - was breathtaking as well. I moved out of the city a few years ago, but still make it a point to buy my shoes from the store. IT is a great place to visit and engage with if you are either visiting or are moving to the twin cities.

Sam greeted us warmly upon entering and I asked about a cross trainer for resuming exercise this spring. She paid attention to how I walked barefoot (coming and going) and then measured my feet on their 3d scanner/ pressure point sensor. The results were emailed to me, so I can have them for future reference. I then donned a pair of shoes that she thought would be appropriate and ran on their treadmill while she recorded my feet and legs. All in all, I learned that she has a degree in kinesiology, which is how her evaluation of my feet function felt so professional and exact. I tried all the other shoes she brought out as options, but in the end I went with the original shoes she had picked out for me, only in a different color. This is impressive, to say the least!! You don't want to know, you NEED to know what your feet are like and how they operate. It affects your overall posture. I will be recommending Mill City Running to everyone from now on, we all deserve top notch assistance in the shoe fit department.

I stopped in to Mill City Running the other day and had such a great experience with their sales person, Andy. He took time to really listen to the things that I was looking for in a running shoe and also put me through a sitting to ensure that I would get the best possible shoe for what I needed. She helped me try on a variety of shoes and even went above and beyond to consider ordering a pair into the store in a color way that they didn’t currently have. Lots of what you need for running, including a running analysis. I wish they did a gait analysis, but I suppose that falls outside of their scope. They have lots of brands, and the staff do an excellent job of helping you find what you need. Check out the rack in the back to find some killer clearance deals.

Sam took the time sit down with me and attack the problem from every possible angle with patience, kindness and a genuine interest in what would be best for me rather than just making a sale. I have been going here for years. As a painter I burn threw shoes. They have machine that reads the arch of your foot. Then they recommend shoes for your foot. I got a bad pair recently I did not put my foot down ,but I said I think the shoes were causing some back and foot problems. I brought 2 pairs of new shoes. At the register they offered to replace the bad shoes for ones I just bought. That is straight love. Not their fault. They felt good when I bought them. But their word is Bond. Write that down.

If you have time show up for one of there Friday morning pancake runs. Parking can be a little tricky in that part of Minneapolis. But don't let that discourage you from stopping by.

Great experiences both times I've been here. Staff greets you as soon as you walk in, ready to help. Everyone has been very genuine and friendly. I'm not a super serious runner by any means, and even though most of these folks are, they don't treat you any differently. So don't feel intimidated if you're just getting started. The technology they have to fit you for your best shoe is amazing. It's not a gimmick at all, it's science! As an engineer it was tough to not completely geek out. They have a much better selection of shoes in stock that I would've ever imagined for a brick & mortar, with a great selection of brands and models with a range of prices. I tried and tested pairs running from $90 to $180. Their return policy is great as well. This will be my go-to spot for running from now on.

The running community in the Twin Cities is so lucky to have a place like Mill City. Their staff is knowledgable -- both in the shoes and products they are selling but also in the day-to-day struggles runners face and how to deal with them. Doesn't matter if I'm going in for new shoes or to buy one pair of socks, I am always greeted with the best customer service. If you've never been properly fit for running shoes, I highly recommend checking them out. The staff at Mill City is trained to observe how your body moves -- they make you walk, jog on a treadmill, stand on this fancy machine that takes images on your feet. Prior to finding Mill City, I just went to any old store and bought what was on sale. And I was never happy or safe. I always had issues. I've loved every pair I've purchased at Mill City. I can't recommend them enough.

My review is no different than any of the others. I came in one time (without a wallet) and they did a scan of my foot, treadmill running test with a few shoes, and then the employee logged it for the next time I came in so I wouldn't have to remember. I came back today to try on and potentially buy. Ended up buying and then price checked a few places just to see if I made a good choice and luckily Mill City Running had the same price as the others. Very happy with my fitting experience, knowledgeable employees, and price!

These guys are the BEST! Had to replace my shoes, but everywhere is closed these days -- and who likes to buy shoes sight unseen? I emailed Mill City and got a prompt recommendation based on my current shoes. Bought them from the website and a staff member dropped them off at my house a few hours later. They fit great. First, he did a 3D foot scan to get all my exact foot measurements and arch type, and then a video analysis of me jogging on a treadmill to help pick out the perfect shoes. Love this place! The look at your gait, measure your feet dimensions and pressure points with a machine, put you on a treadmill and then bring you a handful of options to choose from. Really feels like a hub of the running community - people chatting with employees about races their training for, testing shoes on the treadmill to do a fair analysis, and others just browsing. Great service during COVID! Made an appointment online but arrived early and they welcomed me in, provided hand sanitizer, then helped me try on several pairs of shoes based on my requests and a few of their recommendations. There was a treadmill with a disinfecting wipe available for me to run in the shoes and avoid touching high contact surfaces. Before checking out, I was able to point at a few running blocks that an employee grabbed for me. Everyone was wearing masks and other customers were kept at individual stations several feet away. Altogether, the visit was super pleasant and I felt safe and taken care of. Love my new running shoes and I'll be back to MCR when I need to replace them.

I had researched your store online and what led me there was not just the fact that it was convenient to my house ( I live in North Minneapolis), but that someone could actually be video recorded running to help assess what shoe they should be in and that they could actually run in the shoes while trying them before purchasing them! To me this was the selling point! I was ENCOURAGED to run in every shoe that I tried on and to take my time! This led me to the shoe that I have and I am very thankful for it! I discerned this as I was there I was able to ask some of my questions on running form etc. and get very thorough, practical advice! Love it! More than that, my sister informed me that she too was looking for running shoes. She lives in Duluth, MN and was in town this week. I told her she needed to check out Mill City Running. At first she was hesitant because she normally buys shoes at a general sports store and pays far less, but I told her it was worth it! Just yesterday she went to your store with my dad, and RAVED about the service she received! She said she was in your store for over an hour trying on shoes and received Excellent Service! She said she was able to run in every shoe she tried on and that the salesperson who worked with her looked at her form, her foot etc. and was able to put her in a great shoe! I highly recommend visiting Mill City Running if you need to buy new running shoes. I stopped by because my shoes were 10-years-old and they used a 3D scanner called Albert to scan my feet and determine which type of shoe was best for my feet and running style. I was presented with multiples brands and models to select from and I left the store with a with a new pair of shoes. The price of the shoes was the same as the online retailers and Mill City Running's value-added service made it a no-brainer to buy my new running shoes there. I rarely leave detailed positive reviews of stores but Mill City Running deserves it.

Kyle had great customer service. He worked with me for about 45 minutes asking me questions to figure out what I was looking for. He then got all my foot measurements and picked a few neutral shoes and video tapes my stride on their treadmill. After showing me how my stride was off balanced, he picked some specific shoes out to help correct the problems and showed me again on the video how I was more balanced and protected. I had a really fabulous experience at Mill City Running! Even though they came highly recommended by a friend, I was hesitant to come in for a long time for two reasons: I'm a novice runner (but an experienced athlete), and I'm a fat woman with a really positive self-image who just wants to run. Those two things don't always add up to a great experience in a specialty athletics shop or outfitters. After my visit today (and the first run in my new kicks) I wish I had come in sooner! The staff person who helped me (I wish I could remember her name! Marisa, maybe? I'm so terrible with names...) greeted me with a smile and helped me right away. She was very attentive, listened carefully, and guided me through the fit process with care and genuine enthusiasm. She took the time to share what she learned about my gait and how the different shoes were responding to my stride. She worked hard to make sure I was leaving with the perfect pair of running shoes. What I found so excellent about my experience here, though, was more about what *didn't* happen: I wasn't ignored. I didn't get a "look" or an attitude from anyone that said, "what are you doing here?" I didn't get asked if I was sure I didn't just want a walking shoe instead. No one inquired about my weight loss goals (there are none) or said things like, "don't worry, you'll lose that weight if you just [...]" Let me tell you - this is rarely my experience in specialty athletic shops or outfitters. The one thing I do wish is that they carried extended sizes of running apparel. I expressed this to the person who was helping me but the pieces she suggested weren't my size and didn't fit well. I'm a size 24 and so far, I can only buy online. I know it's not easy to find (get with the program, clothing companies!) but I would love to give Mill City Running more of my money if they could find a good selection of things in my size. I'd prefer to support a great local business than the major online retailers. A huge thank you for my great new shoes and an amazing experience. I'll definitely be back for my next pair of shoes and other running accessories!

I can't believe what a good experience I had here! I'm new to running and was nervous about being intimidated when I came in to buy my first "real" pair of running shoes, but everyone was so friendly and helpful that it wasn't a problem at all. They spent a lot of time with me, performing gait analysis (taking video so that I could watch too!) and letting me try on about 15 different pairs of shoes. They also let me jog up and down the block outside so I could really get a feel for each pair. I asked a lot of questions and took a long time but I never felt like they were condescending with me or trying to rush me out the door. They seemed to care more about me and my comfort level than about just making the sale. I'd recommend this store to anyone, and will definitely come back in the future. AMAZING! I've been running in Minneapolis for 18 years and have settled on Mill City Running as my store of choice. The owners are phenomenal runners that have dedicated their lives to helping others run. The staff is super helpful in advising towards what shoes and gear to consider. A couple of times when I've asked for obscure shoes they don't carry, Jeff, Beckah and team have helped me order them and let me know as soon as they arrived. They've also got a stellar running community that meets 3+ times a week for group runs of ALL paces. Whether you're a beginning runner, road racer or trail runner, they've got the gear and community for you. Recommendation - come to a Flapjack Friday run at 6:30 a.m. to check the store and community out and get free flapjacks and coffee afterwards.

If you're even a novice runner, I'd highly recommend stopping in to see what they can do for you. I've had "fittings" with outfits like this before that are simply a guy watching me run on a treadmill and then recommending their most expensive shoe without regard to my actual running form. This place turned that expectation on its head - I came in with a pretty good idea of what I wanted and they set me up with someone that felt infinitely better and was actually cheaper! A few weeks ago, my hubby and I stopped in Mill City Running because this was the place to pick up our packets for the Foodie Four Mile race. We ended up picking up more than just our packets! WOW! We have been in several running stores because of our love of running and racing, but none have been like Mill City Running. The owners, Jeff and Bekah, go above and beyond to help their customers. My husband and I had no intentions of buying new running shoes as we both had bought some recently. But that didn't matter. Jeff still took the time to go through the extensive shoe fitting process. He didn't rush. He took his time and explained everything about the process to both my husband and I and even let us try on the recommended shoes based on his assessment. I was seriously floored. Neither Jeff or Bekah rushed us out of the store. They were both genuine, down-to-earth, friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. We were both impressed. Even though we didn't buy shoes, we did end up buying some other stuff. And when it is time to buy new shoes, you can bet we will go back there to do it! Sometimes it can be intimidating to go into a specialty store, of any kind, that you are unfamiliar with but the owners, staff, and community of runners they have created are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and fun. Outside of the people, my two favorite things are their super comfortable t-shirts that instantly became my go to everyday t-shirt and, when I get a chance, Flapjack Friday, which is a short run every Friday morning followed by free pancakes, coffee, and OJ.

I went into Mill City Running with a pair of shoes in mind already. On my first visit, the person I worked with took the time to ask about my background and goals, as well as why my current shoes (Altra Lone Peaks) worked for me. Taking all that information, he brought out several pairs of Altras as well as a few other brands for me to try. I ended up with the shoes I initially had in mind, but the time spent on making sure those were the right shoes for me was impressive. They also encouraged me to try several pairs of insoles, and I took some home with my new shoes. They nailed it! The new shoes and insoles seem to have gotten rid of some nagging foot pain that has troubled me for almost a year. I'm thankful they took the time to make sure I had everything I needed to run comfortably. Absolutely excellent staff, very friendly and never seem distracted or rushed. Quick to offer helpful advice when asked, but they don't push any particular brand or product "narrative". Overall great experience!
