This is a great gun store. Went in yesterday and met with a knowledgeable salesman. Showed me a wide selection of new and used handguns. Ultimately bought a sweet H&K. Start to finish, including choosing a handgun, all paperwork and background check, out the door in 30 minutes. Will definitely go back.

My experience here was very good. I recently bought an AR-15 here after deciding between a few stores. The shop is super convenient, just off HWY 394. The staff are knowledgeable, friendly and they were eager to help. I’ve been to every gun shop in town and these guys are my favorite.

The guys here are great. Very helpful and they don't try to push any type or brand on you. They let you handle the guns and let you find the one that feels the best, and I couldn't find anyone not even online that could beat the price. Online prices look good until you add shipping and the FFL transfer fees. I am planning on a 1911 purchase for my own birthday present and this is the place I will buy it.

Very knowledgeable and generally has a great selection. I as initially going to dock a star because it's not the most beginner friendly shop. I'm a firm believer in being able to try different style of firwarm/caliber live before making a first choice. There are many new entries into the market who may have little to no knowledge all of whom should take some test drives and maybe even a class. But not every store out there needs a rental range. And a person could go to any number that do. That said, for anyone with a little knowledge 5/5 stars for their knowledge and selection. Definitely exceeds many shops out there. To people complaining of trade in prices, firearms, like cars, lose value as soon as you own it. Even with no rounds fired, a store will buy it back for significantly less than you paid because it cannot be resold as new, ever!

Called asking about a 308 Ruger Gunsite magazine, Ian picked up and helped me find a replacement with some fitting, the mag I wanted is really hard to find. I did not know you could use some other 308 magazines on the platform. Super helpful, talked a bit about a better compensator for the rifle, he made some good points I had not considered. Might have to order that surefire comp next paycheck.

My favorite local gun store. Their prices on guns are definitely better than anywhere else I've seen, although ammo can be a little steep at times. They also have a really good selection of handguns, shotguns, long rifles, and vintage/milsurp rifles. I checked a box off my bucket list when I bought an authentic sniper mosin here!

There aren't many dedicated gun stores left in the Twin Cities proper, and this is the place to go if you're in the western suburbs unless you're going up to Crystal or Anoka. They have a typical selection, the staff is knowledgeable. The location is pretty convenient just off the highway.

I bought a shotgun for my son here yesterday and it was a great experience. First, the prices are hard to beat. I have been looking around town and comparing prices and from what I can tell, these guys seem to have the best prices town. Second, these guys know guns. I have always bought my guns from the big box sporting goods stores so this was a great experience to buy a gun from guys who know their stuff. Third, they are laid back and not pushy. I have stopped in there a couple times this summer and every time I have been in there they have been very helpful and answered all of my questions. They also have a huge selection of used guns that seems to rotate quite often. I will be going back here for my future gun purchases.

Great place to sell used guns. We had 18 guns from my late father which we had no use for. They took the time to go over everything, explain the reasoning behind their offer on each one, and made us feel very comfortable with selling to them. I know I was driving him crazy with my questions, but he did not seem to mind. I went into the store on a Saturday and found the gun I wanted at a great price. I wasn't quite ready to buy so they graciously put it on hold for me until the next Monday. Went back on Monday and made the purchase. The gentlemen behind the counter were very professional, but also talkative and willing to help, demonstrate and share their knowledge. I went back two days later and made another purchase this time with a trade-in of a shotgun I had new-in-box. They gave me an excellent trade-in value. I highly recommend Frontiersman and look forward to doing business there again.

The first time I was there, I purchased a pistol that I had been looking for, for a long time. I was greeted as soon as I walked through the door and was met with one of the employees, who literally helped me every step of the way. My second visit was even better than my first, 10/11/16 I believe. I purchased a DPMS oracle rifle, and the staff, as usual, went above and beyond what they had to. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the shop, they have a wide variety of guns, tons of ammo in stock, they're very knowledgeable, they have extremely competitive prices, the list goes on and on. And to the unsatisfied customer above who said not to go there if you're under 30 or a minority, sorry, but I'm a minority and I'm 33, but I've had nothing but good experiences there.

This is by far my favorite gun store in Minnesota. Military Surplus firearms are what got me hooked on guns since I was a kid but for some reason it seems like almost every other gunstore in MN has almost no old Mil-surp firearms. However, the Frontiersman has always had atleast a handful ever since I first discovered this place (which was several years ago). I've purchased various firearms and ammo from here (the best deal I got was a $180 Winchester Model 12 which had a MINT barrel and runs super smooth) and I've been extremely satisfied with all my purchases. Unfortunately I live in California now for a couple more years, but whenever I'm home on leave I always try swinging by this place to either purchase ammo I can't find anywhere else or just to browse their selection. Anyway, I definitely hope this place stays around for awhile... 👍🏻

I asked Tom for his opinion on specific models and he ended up saving me nearly 20% of what I expected to spend. He thoroughly answered every question that I asked and made some great recommendations for cases, ammunition, and accessories for weapons that I already owned. I also enjoyed just walking through the store and looking at the remarkable variety of new and used weapons for sale. This is now my favorite gun shop and I can enthusiastically recommend it to anyone looking for selection, value, and knowledgeable staff.

I picked up my first Ar-15 from here a few weeks ago. I took it to the range a couple times and ran 250 rounds through it with no problems at all, and it was all reloaded ammo too. The gun was used but came with a manufacturer lifetime transferable warranty from Windham Weaponry. the buying experience was the best i have had and this was my 3rd firearm purchase. the staff helped me find what i was looking for and the buying process was quick and easy, and I got a great deal so I am very happy. overall I would say its definitely worth checking out before you go pay more at a big name store. They have a large selection of firearms and a great staff that know a lot about guns.

Frontiersman is the place you would go if you desire the best customer service while making a firearm purchase. Ammunition is always in stock! The employees and very experienced and show no bias toward a specific brand or manufacturer. I wouldn't purchase any of my firearms anywhere else. Great prices and they will not push and pry to make a sale. I've put a few firearms on lay-a-way before, and they have a great lay-a-way program.Although I would love to see them grow and expand the shop, at times it can feel cramped.

Excellent prices, much lower than the big chain stores, which was actually quite a surprise considering this is just a one location business. I paid $559 for a brand new Glock 19 Generation 4 and they had Federal 9mm ammo for $9.99 a box. This place is certainly worth your consideration if you are shopping around for a good price on a new gun locally.

Terrific place to buy guns and ammo. Purchased my first ever rifle, an old-school Marlin Model 60, and boxes and boxes of cheap .22LR to take to the range. I love how the store is smaller and more "cramped," doesn't feel empty with dead air. And they have a section for lefties! Got a lot of help from an older fellow (I didn't get his name!) and Jesse. Filled out the forms, in-and-out in 15 minutes (after I finally decided on the rifle I wanted which took way longer than 15 minutes). This is definitely the shop you want to stop at, I will be making the 35 minute cross-town trek for this small business.

After trying another gun shop and two pawn shops, I thought I'd try this place to see what they would give me for my late father's old guns. Here I learned the pawn shops were certainly trying to rip me off. The other gun store had offered me only a little bit more than the pawn shops did and it took them about an hour to look up the guns to find out what they were and how much they were worth. Herb at Frontiersman was familiar with each of the guns and was quick with an offer. I accepted his offer and left there with cash in hand.

These guys are busy that's for sure! Have an older AR I bought 14 yrs ago that I don't shoot much because I don't like how long the stock was. Stumbled across a magazine my brother-in-law had and found out how "customizable" these platforms are. Checked around and thought before buying online, I'll see if the local businesses had any. Found Frontiersman and per their website, had AR accessories in stock. Got there and they were packed (even made sure I went on my day off during the week and during the morning hours). Looked around and they have a nice selection of firearms though I wasn't able to locate any AR accessories. While browsing around and figured since I was already there, I grabbed some gun cleaning supplies and even found a Remington shotgun I liked (been wanting to pick up a shotgun for the cabin for a while now). Seeing how busy they were, I decided against buying the shotgun but brought up the cleaning supplies to checkout (figured it'll be a quick checkout since I wasn't purchasing a firearm nor did I have any questions to ask). Came to the counter that has the register and no one was there. I see that the staff was busy so I picked up a magazine to read and waited. A moment later, a rep with a customer came to swipe the customer's credit card (customer purchased a firearm). When the transaction with that customer was completed, with me standing there by the register with the cleaning supplies in hand, the rep looked at me and walked away to assist another customer with gun questions. To my better lack of judgement, noticing how busy the store was and the lack of a sufficient staff, should've left without buying anything (especially since I wasn't purchasing a firearm). I ended up purchasing my AR accessories online.

(I just went down the list in Google) Jesse at Frontiersman was very eager to work with me and make a sale. I live in WI and my father lives in MN. I wanted to purchase a handgun for my father for his birthday and Jesse worked with me to make it happen! We got a gift card and he's even going to make the call to my dad on his birthday for the surprise! He suggested a gift card and they would hold it for my dad until he came in to pick up the handgun. He also made sure to inform me that my dad will need to have a permit to purchase a firearm which is good because I did not know this rule in MN and that would have been a bummer to have to drive around extra. I very much appreciate the knowledge level and information he provided to make sure we had all our ducks in a row! I highly recommend this place and would definitely do business with them again!

You would never expect it from an independent 1-location gun store, but their regular prices on new guns really are considerably lower than the big sporting goods chain stores. And their staff is made up of older veterans of the gun business, not young college-aged kids who have no clue. Sometimes bigger is not always better, and the Frontiersman gun store is certainly an excellent example of that. Come to think of it, I don't think any of the local big-box retailers have more guns on the shelves than this shop!

I had a great experience at Frontiersman and highly recommend it. It's not the biggest/flashiest gun store in the cities but I found exactly what I was looking for and their employees took plenty of time to help me find the right shotgun and at a very fair price. No pressure, no song and dance, nothing but friendly help from knowledgeable people. I also traded in an inherited pistol and got great fair value to put towards my new purchase especially seeing as how that gun was doing nothing but gathering dust. I'd also point out that this is a good choice for anyone who might be a bit nervous or overwhelmed by the thought of choosing a first gun or walking into a gun store in the first place. This isn't a shop filled with/staffed by "lunatic fringe" types that make some people uncomfortable and they also aren't going to talk to you like you're 5 years old. If you need advice/guidance just say so and they'll be happy to help, especially if you visit outside of the busiest peak times.

This is a mixed review. Both my father and I have brought our guns there every since I was a kid. I have bought 3 guns from them along with 1000's of rounds of ammo With the latest Newtown scare a lot of places showed their true colors and locally the Frontiersman was the worst offender. In the end of December, I went into purchase the FNAR (which is still on the wall by the way) from them. The asking price was $1299 which was a little bit higher then it had been pre Newtown. Fine, I didn't care as I was supporting a local business. The employee who shall remain nameless helped me out as they always had. The service was never a problem there. I said can I put $500 down and pay it off after I transfer some money from savings to checking, it will take 3-4 days. They said in the current climate they were not holding guns for anyone. Fine, I understand their reasoning. I say I will be back and hopefully the gun will still be there. The money transfer hit 7 days later and I go back into the store, ready to buy the gun. The exact same $1299 gun I had planned to buy is now $1899. The same employee who will remain nameless who i have talked to many times before apologizes over and over again saying it was the owner who jacked the prices and there was nothing he could do. I say can you call him, tell him I have been a customer for years and was going to buy this gun a week ago for this price? He said he would let him know, apologized again then took my number. I never heard back from them. That was the last time I have ever have set foot in the door at the frontiersman. I let my father, uncle and brother-in-law, all who are avid sportsman know of my experience there. They have also boycotted this place. The dust is beginning to settle and for them to get blinded by dollar signs and exploit long time customers is 100% unacceptable. It is too bad because unlike other reviews on here, I really enjoyed shooting the sh** with the staff there and always found them very very helpful.

These guys treated me great. I dealt with Herb in trading in some older guns and purchasing a new Keltec PMR-30 and several boxes of 22mag and 22lr ammo. They have a really big selection of guns and I noticed their prices are way lower on new guns than elsewhere. Something else really cool- they have silencers for sale! One is definitely on my short list once the budget allows...

I left with a new xdm, ammo, and a holster despite the low inventory currently prevalent everywhere. Also, Frontiersman's prices seemed very fair and less than the competition. These guys are not rude at all, they are just no B.S. and they know their stuff. They will correct you if you are wrong however. It's not a flower shop, don't expect a touchy-feely politically correct experience in there. I've been shopping there for years and I wouldn't buy anywhere else. There are some imitators out there, shops that come and go, but Frontiersman is the real deal, the way a gun shop is supposed to be. They won't kiss your butt and beg and plead for your business but they will take good care of you nonetheless. They have been there forever so they must be doing something right. One of the guys told me they are going to be remodeling soon. I just hope they don't turn it into a fancy upscale un-gunshop like place. Keep it real guys.

Large variety of used weapons so when I get into duck hunting this is the place I'll go. As far as the younger guys saying they are not welcoming, well i'm sure it happens alot to them. Get some kids who just want to dink around with thier inventory. Will definetley be a future customer and I reccomended the place to all my shooter friends.
