I visited Skirack yesterday to have a bike fitting done on a new bike I purchased online through another business. Jake was absolutely great to work with, super knowledgeable, and passionate about cycling. He was able to make a few changes on my bike's setup that puts me in a more comfortable and more efficient riding position. The store is also amazing, with tons of bikes and accessories. I was really impressed with the selection and inventory. Don't let the name of the business fool you. This place is a full-fledged bike shop that also sells skis in the winter.

Got fit for new ski boots and skis today at Skirack. Colin, the salesman who worked with me, was incredibly knowledgeable and really great to work with. I haven’t gotten a new ski set up in a decade and am so stoked to get on the mountain this season. While I was doing my thing, my wife and daughter shopped around and were also met with smiles, kindness, and impeccable help. Fantastic local business. I was a little intimidated going into the process of buying new ski gear after getting back into skiing after a long furlough away from the slopes. But everyone was super friendly and knowledgeable. Tyler was the employee who helped with my boot fitting and gear selection and was so patient and nothing felt rushed. We rented four e-bikes last minute from Skirack. It took about 30 minutes for them to set us up and get us on our way, but the bikes were in good condition, fully charged, and comfortable for our party of 2 experienced and 2 inexperienced bikers. The rental included helmets and they were able to give me a bike with a basket so I didn't have to carry by backpack the whole way. The cyclists among us said it was also the best bike shop they've ever been to, FWIW!

Skirack has always been such a great place for me. Bicycle tune ups, snow equipment, and a great selection of outerwear and soft goods. I have bought all of my snowboards at Skirack. All of the folks are knowledgeable but I have to recommend Derek specifically. My last 5 board purchases have been solely on his recommendation. I'll think I know what I want, he recommends something else, I hem and haw and eventually buy it, and realize he was right of course! No surprise since he gets to ride basically everything on the market. The tune shop downstairs has always done an excellent job on my boards too. 10/10 recommendation - no hesitation

Love this store and its knowledgeable and thoughtful employees. I have a very difficult fit foot and ski boots have always been a real problem in terms of fit and comfort. I worked with Doug and he was extra patient, in ensuring the right fit and doing whatever it took to make sure my boots were exactly as I wanted them to be. Not only did he go the extra mile, but he made the process fun. I will never shop anywhere else for my outdoor gear. Ask for Doug, he will hook you up!!

Rented a bike from here on a whim for a couple hours to ride the bike trail with a friend. Bike was great, and they even gave me the option to borrow a helmet, basket, and bike lock with the rental for free. Employees were super friendly. Definitely would recommended.

I've gone twice for service: once for my bike, once for x-country skis. Both times the staff were knowledgeable, and they had the parts I needed on-hand. Within 30 minutes I was out the door with my problem resolved. They also took the time to explain what they were doing, so I could fix some small problems myself. Great experience, great staff, and well-stocked.

I went to Skirack for new running shoes a few weeks ago and as always, Clarke Shedd took great care of me! Clarke and his team are the best in the business and he recommended a shoe that has resulted in zero pain while running, which has been a problem for me previously. I strongly recommend you check out Skirack, especially the running shoe department.

Ridiculously helpful staff. We wanted to rent a bike trailer for our dog, but they only had a trailer available for kids. The staff was extremely patient and helpful in trying to make the trailer work for our dog. Ultimately they determined it probably wasn't safe, so they actually recommended we buy a pet trailer from across the street. When we brought our own pet trailer, they were more than happy to attach it to one of their rental bikes for us. This whole process took over an hour, and they didn't get frustrated with us newbies even once.

Thanks for the help getting Red Sven ready for our summer road trip. Doug and the team at SkiRack have a full line of thule. Plus bikes, skis and everything you need to get up and down a mountain. Right in downtown Burlington but with parking out back. I left my car and when I returned my Thule setup was ready to go. This store is well equipped for outdoor fun and they have knowledgeable staff for beginners to experts. Great stop to get what you need in the 802.

We went to get our rental bikes and Jordan (the person who helped us) was so helpful and explained us everything very patiently. I haven’t experienced such a great customer service in a while. He helped us install dog crate we bought. Gave us directions to the bike trail! So informative and without the knowledge it would’ve taken us a while because there was construction going on. I wish I could leave 10 stars!! If you want to go someplace with top of the line customer service, SKI RACK is where you want to go! I brought my incredibly painful ski boots (that I purchased someplace else several years ago) in to the ski rack this weekend to see if there was anything they could do to help or if I needed new boots. One of the sales guys spent almost 2 hours with me, measuring my feet, listening to my feedback and being extremely helpful and patient. I have a tough foot to size and he did not have what I needed in stock. Instead of selling me another painful boot he sent me to another store that did have what I needed. Doug was willing to give up a sale to make sure I got the boot I needed! That was pretty incredible. I will be going back there to get my new boots fitted and they will be my 1st stop whenever I need equipment going forward. I bought a bike from them several years ago and had a great experience then as well. I can not say enough positive things about my experience with them!

I went in to Skirack to buy a bike. I have never owned a bike and needed some extra care and attention. The sales associate that helped me was Marissa. She was patient, compassionate and incredibly helpful. I walked out with a shiny new Raleigh Bike as well as accessories like a water bottle mount and helmet. They have a great deal if you purchase a bike there, you get 10% off bike accessories -- and not just on the day you purchase the bicycle. My husband will be buying his bike there as well and he is not an impulse buyer. He has gone in several times to test ride it, understand the sizing, discuss features, looking up add on options, etc and he has been working with Jimmy. Jimmy was there the day I picked up my bike and I could tell he was amazing to work with as well. He immediately remembered my husband and asked if he wanted to see the Bike again-- customer recognition at its finest. Everyone in the store seems so friendly and helpful. We are 2/2 on fantastic employees at Skirack and I presume it doesn't stop with Marissa and Jimmy. Thank you for a great experience.

The folks working at Skirack were just the best. The bike department went above and beyond to get my son’s bike back on the rode in a timely manner. He is 12 and wanted to be independent in advocating for himself to get his bike fixed. They treated him with respect and in his words “had a great sense of humor” . Great shop with a fairly expansive selection of outdoor gear. Prices can be a bit higher than some other places in the area, but that comes with the selection and quality. Staff is usually very helpful and knowledgeable. I would, however, say that my experiences with the Skirack bike shop have been very hit or miss. I've had great service there before but my most recent trips have been terrible, especially considering the relatively high price you pay to have work done here. All and all though, it's a great shop I recommend to most people

We were 9 people renting bikes and Jordan went above and beyond to adjust them and be sure that we were all comfortable and had everything we needed for our ride. He took time to explain to us how to get to the trail to the causeway and what to see around there. Highly recommended!

Incredibly helpful and friendly staff, well stocked store! Took a long road trip to VT for some good road cycling in mid-June, upon arrival I realized I had forgotten my bike shoes at home. Went to the Skirack in Burlington for new shoes and after some excellent assistance was riding later that day. Shoes ended up really killing my feet. Went back to Skirack for a fix and everybody there was incredible! While they fitted me for a better shoe, they also tuned my bike (it had been 'ghost shifting on climbs). Found a new pair of shoes and they exchanged the used ones no problem. In and out the door in less than an hour totally happy with new gear and tuned bike. The tech even test rode my bike before releasing it, and they didn't charge me for the tune up. Everyone we interacted with at the Skirack was friendly and helpful, nice to be around in 'normal' times and especially appreciated in these trying times.

I've been a Ski Rack customer since the late 1980s and have purchased several bikes from them. I have had over all very good service and results using their store. You might pay a bit more here but they give back with amazing service and inventory, and their ability to get what they don't have is lightning quick. I had a problem yesterday morning with some work previously done and need a warranty repair FAST. I met with Chris in service who was extremely polite and helpful and resolved the issue for me and got me parts pronto so that I could enjoy my bike that afternoon. I can highly recommend Ski Rack for bike sales and service. Updating this review 5 years later and I stand by what I said above to this day. I'll add that I recently had issues with gearing on my Gravel bike. The Ski Rack assisted me with new gearing at what I consider to be a reasonable price. Again it was Chris who helped me out. Cheers!

Most knowledgeable guys in town for ski boot fitting. Shopped all over town at the "other guys" and these guys knew their stuff the best. Custom fitting and amazing service. Fast turn around on mounting my gear when I bought it.. Toe needed to be blown out a little brought it in and even though they were busy did it for me while I waited so I could still ski the next day.

Shopped for an electric bike at many spots, but ended up buying a fabulous electric bike by Specialized at the SkiRack, in no small part to the SkiRack staff! They spent a lot of time -- a lot! over multiple days -- working with me, answering questions, having me do comparison test rides, and making me feel comfortable. Everyone was very friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and worked well together as a staff team. I hadn't owned a bike in a very long time so all of their advice really helped me. They did one final once-over on the bike once I bought it, and delivered it right to my door. All in all, a great experience, and now I have a great bike. Special shoutouts to Jake, Jimmy and Max. One of my favorite shops in town -- I have been going to since I was a kid in the 1970s, and I am never disappointed.

As a lot of people know, it has been very challenging to buy a bike because of the effects of Covid 19 has had on the economy, businesses, inventory etc.. After weeks of looking, I found the bike I wanted at Shirack at lower price than any other bike store. I live in Atlanta, GA and the store is located in Burlington, VT. I bought the bike online and the process was seamless. It came on time, packed well and any questions I emailed them they responded in a very timely manner. They are professional and easy to work with. I highly recommend them and appreciate Will's help throughout the process.

The mechanics will work with you to fix your bike exactly as you want (type of parts/set up). They do excellent work and the staff is super friendly and the turn around time is great. It is a little annoying that they require you to take off the bindings off of your snowboard or they charge extra for a wax. Prices are a bit high as well but you are paying for quality work. Overall very happy.

Ski Rack earned my forever loyalty in 2 visits. The 3rd was just icing on the cake. First visit was to get my and my fiancé’s bikes in for service. Even during this pandemic, their customer service was outstanding. Chris, the service tech, was incredibly helpful, patient, and downright nice to work with. He went over our bikes and our needs, and even though it was all pretty routine it still stood out as exceptional. The second visit was to test ride 2 bikes. I was over an hour late to my original appointment time (which I communicated with them throughout the day as to my timing) and they were nothing but understanding. Jimmy was who I worked with and he had both of the bikes ready and waiting, all dialed in to my weight and height. He listened to my spiel and was very responsive to my wants and what I was looking for out of a bike. He took the time to listen and understand, and then responded accordingly. I ended up purchasing one of the bikes, and they got me setup with a new Thule rack bike holder as my current one wouldn’t accommodate a through axel. Extremely impressive customer experience. I couldn’t rate it higher. Then today, 3rd visit, I brought my new bike by for a touch up tune after the first ride. They took care of me and got me back on my way very efficiently. Again, just amazing service. I am not sure of the name of the service tech that was working the night of 6/4, but he was awesome. Walked me through a few pointers, helped me get my bike dialed in to my preferences after the first ride, and exceeded all expectations of customer service. The entire team at Ski Rack has been awesome. The greeters, the service techs, and the salespersons. All of them. Well. Done. Ski Rack.

They helped fit and adjust my boots, that I hadn't purchased there, and were awesome. I'm a fairly new skier and don't have much of a clue about what i'm doing. Mike helped give me tips on wearing them and made sure that they were ready for my skill level. There was no pressure to buy anything, and it seemed like I'd just gone over to my buddy's house for some help. It was great and I highly recommend them.

Purchased a Thule T2 over Easter Weekend from Doug. We stayed at the Hilton near by and leaving the next morning for a ski trip. Doug coordinated with the Hotel so we could pick it up on our way back home on Easter Sunday when the store was closed. Doug also sent me an installation YouTube video so I can easily install it on my vehicle and quickly be on my way. Doug provided beyond exemplary customer service that is not easily duplicated. We look forward to our next Burlington visit and we will surely be shopping at Skirack because of Doug Stewart and team. We will share our experience with friends and family for years to come.

I had an amazing experience at Ski Rack last night working with Dale. He is extremely knowledgeable and made sure that he found me the right ski equipment for my level. He also made sure that I was happy with the aesthetic of the equipment I was buying, which is really important to me! EXCELLENT, EXCELLENT SERVICE! Huge appreciation to Skirack – particularly Sam Hewitt. Was scouring the internet looking for large-size cross country ski boots with very little luck and very little help from the retail world. Fortunately, I happened on Skirack all the way across the country. Sam knows his equipment and his vendor reps … and was willing to contact them for me. Sam also made spot-on recommendations for my skis. I prefer to shop locally but this northern California consumer is quite happy with Vermont right now.

Fantastic customer service! The manager of the upstairs/ski department helped fit me with some super comfortable alpine boots. They were incredibly crowded because of a weekend sale, but the staff spent a bunch of time with me, helping me find the right boot. I was also happy to see that the manager takes care of her staff. Because her sales staff was so busy, she ordered pizza for her crew. It seems they take care of their customers and their employees. I'd definitely shop here again!

Long time loyal customer anyways. Decided to try Skirack for my ski boots, as I heard not only their selection and boot-fitting is excellent but also could help with the skeletal/stance stuff that is a game-changer for me. They get high marks in all regards-- they had a 22.5 boot with a smaller last size and proceeded to customize it in every way (have my own recipe card now) and identified some areas I hadn't even noticed. Not only was the process of speaking with their employees pleasant, they serviced them for free for me even though it had been past their one year of service policy. Sure, some gear is pricy but the service with it is WELL worth it.

The was the best experience I’ve ever had buying ski boots. Doug helped me find a boot that was best for me. And he kept in mind my budget and the type of boot I needed. We came from out of state to do an organized bike ride on Champlain island. We reserved hybrid bikes via email. The staff is very responsive to email. The bikes were ready when we arrived for pickup. We also rented a rack for the car. It was $35 for a 24 hour rental. The rack was $20. You park behind the store in their Free lot. The store is huge with a lot of merchandise. The staff is very friendly. There is a water cooler you can fill your water bottle. The Burlington trail is a few blocks from store. It's a paved route that goes 11 miles to Champlain island. We biked five miles of it. It goes along the lake's beach and forested areas.

I am so glad I purchased my trail running shoes at Ski Rack rather than online. There was a small friction point on the pair I bought last week. 18 miles later I had a painful sore on my arch. The guaranteed fit at Ski Rack allowed me to trade in for a different style shoe. I will always purchase at Ski Rack from now on. Great service.

I got a flat tire while biking to work a few months back and they were able to fix it in time for me to come and get it during my scheduled break the same day. I hobbled into their bike triage center, needing help with my Knee-scooter for my broken leg. Not only were they incredibly kind, taking the scooter over, filling the tires for me, but when 5 minutes later the break started acting up, they adjusted it. All of the help I received for free, I never once felt out of place in this friendly environment. They had several "adult" types of boots in stock in that size, much more than any other shops we could find. I personally found out that Jon (young guy) has a great amount of knowledge and was able to not only answer all my questions but visually show me the differences discussed regarding bicycles/parts/gear. Went in to check out the bike swap did not find what i was looking for but after testing a few bikes ended up walking out with what i consider to be the perfect match for me. In addition, Ski-rack offers great lifetime benefits for your bike if you buy from them. Sure I could have gotten a similar bike online slightly cheaper but sizing, fitting, assembly and the additional maintenance plus discounts where worth the extra $100 in price to me... especially since i was a novice in this area of expertise. My third major bike purchase at Ski Rack, this one over $5,000 for a carbon fiber mountain bike. The bike broke under normal riding conditions within two riding seasons- took it to the service department, who did not do enough to secure a replacement part from the shock company (I had to step in to coordinate in my own time), and then they damaged the five thousand dollar bike's frame, digging the steel teeth from the main pedal cog into the rear frame bracket aluminum, gouging the aluminum and chipping off the pristine paint job and finish. 5 gouges big enough to catch your fingernail and stands out like a sore thumb through the black gloss finish. (pitted aluminum now showing) After damaging the five thousand dollar bike, they did not mention anything to me until i brought it up, to which they suggested free touch up paint. ....... Free touch up paint. Enough said. I spent a ~$460 repair ticket for converting my tires to tubeless, getting the new shock in, a new pair of riding gloves because my old ones were destroyed when the oil from the old rear shock exploded all over me, and a new front tire. In the current standing between this business and I, I can not in good faith recommend it to anyone who cares about customer satisfaction and care. As this is not my first major service department blunder at Ski Rack, I cannot recommend buying here in good conscience. ****UPDATE****: Solution has been reached. They refunded me the $ for the shock, and offered to repair the damaged chainstay, or replace the chainstay completely. I accepted the refund on the shock, and touchup paint to the chainstay. I have revised the rating to three stars because the resolution reached does not change the fact that I've had repetitively bad service there at Ski Rack.

Did my ski boot shopping this past sunday(8/21) looking for some good summer deals. Went to alpine shop, outdoor gear exchange, then Skirack, I've been to skirack in the past and bought my skis, googles, and poles from there and it's always been my preference but I've always thought all the shops were pretty similar. Until I sat down and worked with Doug. Doug explained, helped, and taught me about ski boots and the fits/brands. He was very honest with me and patient especially with my tight budget of $300. Well, He recommended a few things to me to fit my budget like trying for a used pair of these Lange XT 120's since they were the best fit for me but were way out of my budget with a price of $650. I'm not sure how he did it, and he didn't pressure me at all, But after we went through it all he gave me a great deal on them and I walked out with them, and a pair of insoles. Spending twice as much as I planned wasn't what I was expecting, But actually felt great about it. The guidance he gave me and the honest easy approach worked wonders. I have never felt so taken care of by an employee and actually felt like he was trying to help me instead of sell me something. After I tried these on since they were way out of my price range he didn't push me at all and just educated me on the whole fitting process and technical aspect that I didn't know about. I learned a lot about boots, more than I thought possible. The rest of the places I went to didn't give me much help or explanation. And one specific guy I worked with at another place answer's kept changing, Like he was just trying to say different stuff until I bought from him. But anyway, I will definitely be back, and I now have a store that I feel like I can trust and can set apart from the rest. So I appreciate that.

The gloves had been discontinued by the manufacturer, and Emily at SkiRack found that the only remaining pair in my size had a similar blemish on one as well. Without even asking, we were told the best place to park and that if we brought our bikes to the market, there was free, secure bike parking. Color me impressed by how good Skirack is at fitting running shoes! I told the shoe-fit specialist all my various foot, knee, & running issues to give her a jumping-off point as to what my needs might be in a shoe. Then she carefully measured my foot--and not just with a Brannock device: She observed it from a variety of angles, and even watched me walk. Based on that information, Alison brought out her first couple of best ideas as to what just the right shoe would be for me. I tried each pair on, and each time she had me hop onto the in-store treadmill for a test run. She filmed my stride at heel level from behind. Then she played the recording of the test run back in slow motion, enabling her to do meticulous gait analysis. Alison spent a good amount of dedicated time with me, fine tuning her shoe selections based on the video of me running in each pair, & then moving on to the next pair until, together, we got it just right! It's no coincidence that the correct shoe from her standpoint of expertise on studying my stride was also the one that felt the best to wear. I exclaimed during the test run in that particular shoe, "It doesn't even feel like I'm wearing anything on my feet!" Mission accomplished. It just so happened that the shoe that felt & ran the best for me happened to be last year's model, which was discounted at 20% off. So it's not a high-pressure or upselling vibe there. Skirack simply fits you in the best shoe FOR YOU, whichever product that may be. Skirack also has an insane exchange policy--at least for the brand I purchased--whereby, if AFTER FULLY USING THE SHOES, outside, running in them, etc, you're not satisfied, you may bring them back & have the money you paid for them put toward a different pair!? (Try pulling that on Zappos.) When you take all this into consideration, it really is not worth buying running shoes online, only to have them arrive in the mail & not be quite right. Put yourself in Skirack's capable hands just once, like I did, and I suspect you'll never buy running shoes anywhere else.
