A repeat customer right here 🙋🏻‍♀️ My second sugaring appointment is tomorrow and I’m actually ~ looking forward to it ~ My previous visit felt so welcoming and comfortable. Nat and their team are professional and friendly at the same time. Erin was cool to talk to and most importantly, she was attentive to my comfort level and needs, and as gentle as she could be during the sugaring process. I was really happy with the results and glad that Erin and Nat shared tips with me. (Nat is well-versed in organic skin care, if you’re into that kind of thing) An added bonus was the cleanliness and ambiance of the space, and Phyllis the monstera plant!

Okay so boom! I have skin irritation from home hair removal so my dermatologist was like, you should get laser hair removal. The process at Uncle Nat’s is seamless and it’s been one of the best investments I’ve ever made. It’s in the neighborhood and it’s super affordable in comparison to many other options within the city. I’ve had about 5 sessions so far. After my first session I saw about 80-90% hair loss. After the second session I’d say there was about 95% hair loss. The staff here are great, so nice and accommodating and they do everything to make sure you are comfortable for your sessions. They were extremely knowledgeable about their lasers which was very important, especially for those of us who are more melanated. They treat me with care and respect each time I come in and my results are fantastic. No more razor bumps, ingrown hairs, or hyperpigmentation. I’m embodying the life of a wet hairless baby dolphin lol ready for summer 2022. If you’re considering where to go, take this as a sign and just make your appt. I promise it’s the best thing and you’ll thank yourself later.

Everyone at Uncle Nat’s is just lovely. Georgia is so sweet and Natalie is extremely warm and welcoming. It’s always a pleasure showing up in the beautiful space they’ve curated and to have absolute confidence that I am in great hands. There is a lot of consideration given to how they conduct the services and ensure a comfortable and thoughtful experience for each and every one of their clients. I have only had sugaring done here but am interested in exploring lasering with Natalie who is such a knowledgable expert in all that they do. I am looking forward to my next visit or touch-up here!

I had the most amazing service from Michele! She was so nice, made me feel very comfortable, and did a great job! The space itself was beautiful, very clean, and well decorated. It was my first time visiting uncle Nat's and was a bit confused when I arrived (it's located in an apartment building). Looking lost outside, I was welcomed in by another (very sweet) Uncle Nat's staff member headed into the building. Overall, this was an amazing experience and would 10/10 recommend! I will definitely be coming back for a sugaring service very soon. Thanks Michele!

Just had a wonderful sugaring appointment with Michele! First off, this is not Erin. To any that have seen Erin at Uncle Nat's and might be confusing Michele for her, this review is for you. I had a first time appointment with Erin and was not very happy with my experience and I unfortunately mistook Michele as Erin. Big mistake! Michele is possibly the complete opposite. She's so knowledgeable and has amazing technique. You can tell she has a lot of experience and makes you feel so comfortable throughout. Probably the best sugaring experience I've had in a long time. I highly recommend booking with her! Thank you so much Michele and Uncle Nat!

I had my first experience at Uncle Nat's Sugaring Brooklyn yesterday, and it was a great one. I spoke with Uncle Nat over the phone, who was completely understanding of my situation and squeezed me in for a last minute appt. They were lovely to chat with and willing to answer any questions I had. I was greeted by puppies (10/10) and Uncle Nat, who offered me coffee and boxed water while waiting for the aesthetician. Erin performed my wax and saw me right away. As someone who gets sugared regularly, I would highly recommend booking an appointment with her. She was gentle, knowledgeable & lovely to chat with. Sugaring Brooklyn has a beautiful mission statement and are well equipped to give any&everyone the best experience possible. Cheers to being inclusive & paving the way for other salons to do the same. Totally worth the money, I will be back!

I’m new to the sugaring world but this spot is my favorite. They have a wide range of services (sugaring, laser hair removal, skin care) plus all their staff is super patient and easy going. Inclusive of all gender identities and body types. Very clean & COVID conscious. Also offering a range of really amazing skincare products that actually work. Definitely worth a visit!

This was my first time visiting Sugaring Brooklyn. They have a nice and comfortable apartment space/setting, with two sweet dogs; the space has a more relaxed, home-like feeling. There’s a seating area to wait for your appt. The bathroom is very nice and clean. Before you enter they ask for you to remove shoes, so if you’re not comfortable being barefoot, you should bring socks with you. I spoke with Natalie first for the First Time Client Intake (required before your first appt). They went over safety and discussed things that would help me to feel more comfortable and more aware of the process before I get sugar waxed. I appreciated how knowledgeable and understanding they are of mental health as a wax center, regarding any anxiety and anything that could be triggering of trauma, that may come up for some clients. Then they asked me if there’s anything that the technician should be aware of in terms of what would make me feel comfortable. Natalie advised me to not schedule a sugar wax appt when I am pressed for time or if I have something booked right after, which is good to know for the future. Waxing is something that a technician should take their time with, and not rush because that could be dangerous and not done thoroughly. So it’s best to schedule an appt at a time that you are able to come a little early to and give yourself time for the appt, the time could vary. They also seem to really value their workers too (policy has minimum 20% tip already included in the bill), which as a customer I appreciate and makes me feel good about supporting this business. I had Georgia as my sugaring technician. She is very sweet and welcoming, which helped me feel comfortable. She did a really great job with the entire wax process. She explained the whole process to me and before she did the next step she would tell me first; this helped me know what to expect. The sugaring wax experience itself was pretty painless, very comfortable, and easy to go through. The wax was warm and soothing. Each time Georgia was about to remove some of the wax she made a “Ha” sound to inform me that she was about to do it, which helped prepare me for the slight pain and discomfort (overall pretty painless). The sugar waxing process was less painful than regular waxing. I really enjoyed my first experience here. Definitely recommend Sugaring Brooklyn.

I saw Michele this morning and it was the most enjoyable and least anxiety-producing sugaring experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve been getting sugared (in several states) for 15 years. Super friendly and affirming and spacious (no tiny rooms with dingy lighting). Highly recommend — the slightly higher price tag is worth it

I visited Uncle Nat's for laser hair removal on my nipples, and had a great experience! My experience was incredibly positive! Uncle Nat was warm, empathetic, professional, and took the time to educate me about the laser (they have the Candela GentleMax Pro laser - top of the line!) and what to expect. Every body - and every body part - is different, but it only took one laser hair removal treatment for my nipple hairs to be GONE. My pain was minimal and I only wish I had done the laser hair removal sooner! I was so pleased with the results that I've returned to have laser hair removal on my bikini line also. Again, a very positive experience. Thank you, Uncle Nat!

Uncle Nat is amazing. Firstly, the facilities are clean, bright, and beautifully decorated. It’s a very elegant place to walk into. Their work is fantastic and their knowledge is impressive. I felt at home, comfortable and welcomed. And the end result was fantastic. I am someone who is very shy about their body, and I truly felt at ease going through the sugaring process in my most private of private areas. I can’t recommend Uncle Nat enough. And even though I was specifically looking for an LGBTQIA friendly environment, I would say, without a doubt that no matter who you are, straight, LGBTQIA, male, female, non-binary, and everything in between… This is the kind of place where everyone feels welcome.

I can hardly find the words to describe what a fantastic experience I had at Sugaring Brooklyn. Natalie and their staff are beyond welcoming and inclusive; they truly celebrate bodies of all kinds. I love (most) of my body hair. Natalie was able to curate a look that was comfortable and affirmed my desire to keep what I could with a more tidy appearance. I also have extremely sensitive skin and am prone to breakouts, ingrown hairs, dry skin and pretty much every annoying thing that comes along with hair removal. Although sugaring was a little *ahem* less comfortable than other hair removal methods, I got used to it quickly and did not experience a SINGLE ONE of the side effects I usually do. The Sugaring Brooklyn space is beautiful, comfortable, welcoming, affirming-- the list is long. I can't wait to go back!

I’ve been coming here for a few months, and I absolutely can’t imagine wanting to go anywhere else. I was new to sugaring, so I was a little nervous before my first time, but everything about the experience is so chill, luxurious, and calming—and everyone there is amazing! Erin makes the sugaring process so relaxing (especially with her impeccable playlists), and I always leave feeling totally rejuvenated. Can’t say enough good things about the laser services, too. I’d previously tried laser hair removal from one of the big NYC salons and *hated* it, but Uncle Nat is a miracle worker. They’re super communicative throughout the session and make it so much less intimidating! Really makes me feel comfortable and safe, and the process couldn’t be more different from what I experienced elsewhere. Uncle Nat’s offers an experience that feels super premium and personal, and that’s explicitly and intentionally inclusive of different body types and identities. Everyone there is super rad, they do incredible work, and it feels really good to support an independent business. I used to think that hair maintenance had to be an uncomfortable chore like going to the dentist, but Uncle Nat’s really gives you the spa experience (with beautiful results) from start to finish!

This place is clean and the service is excellent. I e been coming here since June 2021 and have not gone anywhere else since. They take appointment times very seriously and when you are late you might as well have missed the appointment because there is very little flexibility. Please note, if parking is the reason you are late, apparently they have a parking lot.

I've been going to Uncle Nat's since it was just the one studio... before lockdown even! I first started going to Nat's because they offer the Sugaring Fund discounts for Black folks, but then I really appreciate the trauma-informed care provided. Back then, Nat was the only one doing sugaring. I was terrified because the place I was going by my house had destroyed my hair and when I'd gone on holiday to London, the sugaring I got was the most painful experience of my life. Nat explained to me what had gone wrong and was able to give me a pre-care and after-care treatment as well as act as a pain doula during! Nat really knows what they're talking about and walked me through the process before AND DURING the sugaring process. Now they have moved onto the laser-- and I cannot wait to try that out. As a Black queer person, it has felt pretty unsafe in regular waxing salons because of people not knowing how to deal with the texture of my hair, my melanated skin, or my queerness. It feels SO uncomfortable to go anywhere in NYC except Nat's. (MARCH 2022) EDIT (25 JANUARY 2023): I started my lasering journey in February/March 2022. Intermittently I have done a couple sugaring treatments but primarily laser. Prior to starting laser treatments, the hair in my Brazilian and underarm area grew in very coarse and wiry (which is odd because that's not the case on the rest of my body). I often would get ingrown hairs and struggle with discomfort when I allowed my body hair to grow out. At the end of the summer (maybe September?) I decided to try growing out my body hair (slightly to save money but mainly because I wanted to just see how it would go). It's now almost February 2023 and I'm only now feeling the need to get my hair removed again. I have had no itching, at most one ingrown (if that), and the texture of the hair is completely different. It no longer is coarse and wiry (which I imagine is what caused the itchiness). I don't have to exfoliate those areas as often and I feel more body confidence because of it. I'm grateful that I no longer have to remove hair out of necessity but just whenever I feel like it.

Wow! What a special place. I am still floored by the amazing experience I had today. The best hair removal experience of MY LIFE! I Nat was super swift and her technique was soothing. When I tell you I was laughing the entire way through! Nat made me feel so comfortable that I didn't even have time to focus on the pain. And I never thought that I'd say that about a Brazilian. Overall an amazing experience. I was a little wary going to a residential "salon," but after visiting Uncle Nat's, I have to say I prefer! Uncle Nat makes the entire experience more than comfortable. Prior to the first session, Nat sits down with you and asks you questions, tells you a little bit about the space, then you get started. As the session begins, Nat walks you through their every move - even wheeling the lasers towards you! They checks in on pain levels throughout and asks you for REALISTIC scales on how you're feeling - not the "I'm fine!" through a clenched jaw. I'm really happy I chose Uncle Nat's and I will absolutely be coming back.

It’s been about a year since I was last at Uncle Nat’s, but this experience is one that is TRULY unforgettable in all the best ways. I’ve been sugared at other places since, and nothing compares to Uncle Nat’s. They immediately make you feel comfortable and it is clear you are getting what you are paying for- a LUXURIOUS experience. Luxurious in all the physical components, and also frankly, the emotional components too. I am someone with a lot of body hair, and my whole life, I have always had hair removal places pry into my ethnic background and medical history to find out “why” my hair is like “that.” Not at Uncle Nat’s. They are true specialists in what they do. It’s not your hair texture or body that’s the problem, it’s other places not being true specialists in the area and not knowing how to cater to different bodies. My hair texture was welcomed and I felt so good and safe the entire time. I got none of the usual vaguely-belittling comments at other places like my hair texture is difficult or “stubborn.” I was welcomed for who I am, and Nat has specific pastes they use for different types of hair. They *know* what they’re doing. And they enjoy seeing people get the best possible service. There’s a lot of love that goes into this special place. They check in with you to make sure you’re okay, and ask what your boundaries are around physical touch and language. Before they touch you they let you know in advance they are going to, and they ask for consent each time. There is literally no other place like this. Since Uncle Nat’s, I have gone to some other sugaring places, and I am always shocked by how much better Uncle Nat’s is. Even just little things, like cleaning off your body part before starting, the other places don’t do that. It is more expensive than other places. But the quality is also significantly higher. Like, my results lasted way longer here than other places too, and that speaks for itself in terms of cost and what quality you get. They also are very gracious and helpful if you need financial assistance. I can’t say enough good things. I’ve been wanting to write this review forever, and there’s just SO MUCH good stuff to say that I never knew where to begin. If you are trans, gnc, or have pcos, this is the place to go to. Unforgettable experience, fabulous people, clean environment, class-act. 10/10 stars!

Uncle Nat immediately had such a warm presence; it made the area feel like a safe space. And that was confirmed in the introduction I heard before my appointment. The staff all seem so pleased to be working there. Their attitudes to their jobs and how they work with and for people really add to the entire experience. There is so much that could be said about how all-encompassing the experience is. This time for maintenance is spent not just on your body but also letting your mind rest because you can trust the process is thought out and purposeful. The employees are able to do their job quickly and efficiently and the booking and payment process is easy and straightforward. I wish I knew that not all sugaring places offered the same add- ons to their services. Other establishments I've visited offered stones (like rose quartz) and things to hold or fidget with while being sugared. Having something to hold would have perfected the experience but overall it was very warm, welcoming, and friendly. And the dog is ADORABLE<3

This was my first experience with sugaring and I am OBSESSED, not only was the salon beautiful and comfortable but the staff made me feel right at home! Being trans can make salon experiences awkward to say the least especially when you have to be nude and I immediately felt comfortableAnd relaxed. They took such care answering my questions and took extra time outside of my booked service to talk to me about my hormonal acne and potential treatments for scar tissue from surgery. This place is seriously a GEM!!! I cannot wait to come back!

As a first timer to getting waxing of any kind done, I was thoroughly impressed with how they made me feel welcome and at ease. I worked with both Natalie and Selena. The appointment started with an intake where Sel, one of the two that worked with me, explained everything in detail that I needed to know to prepare for the procedure. I have never had a sugaring experience that was so painless, comforting, and delightful. I didn't realize how much tension I was carrying into the appointment until it was over - my previous experiences (I've hopped all over the place looking for something like this) had built up all this expectation about gritting and getting through it. By the end I felt uplifted, lighter, happy and at ease. Not to mention the results were *stunning* my skin was soft and only mildly red. Natalie did an absolutely incredible job with the shape, I've never felt so gorgeous. I highly recommend them especially if you're looking for a skilled and knowledgable practitioner who knows what their doing. The price point is absolutely worth it.

If you are nervous about getting sugared or feeling exposed, know that Nat and the team at Sugaring BK go above and beyond to make you feel safe and comfortable during the hair removal process. I never imagined sugaring could be so pleasant, and I’ve been getting it done for over a year, but never with such care and attention as with Nat and Jacqueline. They worked in tandem do to my legs and bikini area and the results are amazing. I feel so confident and radiant after this experience when I’m accustomed to feeling awkward and vulnerable after traditional hair removal. My skin feels luxurious after the hot towels and oil treatment and I never want to go anywhere else for sugaring!

My first time doing hair removal other than shaving on my legs but I wanted to find a better more sustainable solution for myself and my lifestyle. I thought I'd give waxing or sugaring a try - after doing research and finding Uncle Nat's shop I knew I wanted to give this place a visit. I appreciate the clear, upfront communication and guidelines and definitely wanted to find a place where I felt safe and unstigmatized - as well as supporting a place that makes everyone feel that way. So glad I went for it! Erin was so at ease, moved about so smoothly and made my experience as painless as possible (read: it's not painless but it's manageable to get results you want!) I messed up my booking appointment and had to pay the full 24 hour cancellation fee even though I rebooked for the next morning. Bummer because I'm not well resourced but Uncle Nat talked to me about pay options including daily specials and the Fund, and I am comfortable with my fee being considered a donation/paying it forward for the shop. Lovely space and lovely folks. Will be back!

This was the BEST experience I’ve ever had with hair removal. I have been going to sugaring places since I was 18 and have always felt so nervous and uncomfortable to be in those spaces. This space was so inviting, I felt safe, welcomed, and listened to! This was my first time ever getting something like this done. They were understandably behind schedule so unfortunately I got super anxious while waiting. Natalie did a great job of dealing with my nerves and talking me through every step, and it was not as scary as I talked myself into thinking it would be. They were also willing to work with me on the price which is lovely. As a fat black woman I was nervous about feeling uncomfortable. Natalie really went above and beyond to communicate with me and keep me feeling comfortable. I left feeling smooth and supported and I hope I’ll be able to treat myself to this again. Also, the dogs gave great company while I waited.

This place is the best! I have VERY low tolerance for pain, but Natalie gave me the best first time experience. My skin appears much clearer, and exfoliated. She truly cares about your skin’s health, and is very informative for how to treat your skin at home as well. Her assistant is the sweetest! They make me feel welcomed each and every time. As a Black woman, I didn’t feel uncomfortable or made to feel inferior. Natalie was even informative about skin care for darker skin tones. Overall, they make you feel like you belong. I’ve only been there three times, and it amazes me that she remembers the conversations we have had during my sessions. That in itself says a lot about her as a person. She genuinely cares for her clients beyond her work. I’m forever recommending her. If you’re looking for a place to make your home when it comes to sugaring, this place is it. It’s beyond clean as well! Make your appointment now!

This was my first experience sugaring and it was nothing short of amazing. I tend to be sensitive when getting hair removal and Natalie was really great at prep/post care for my skin. I would like to emphasize that they personalized my skin care by asking me personal questions to make my service was unique for my needs; and to make sure i was comfortable during the entire process. They adjusted their technique to help with pain management and that is something i have never experienced in all my years of getting waxed. This was my first time getting any type of body hair removal service. So I came in pretty green and ready to understand the sugaring process a bit more. An employee named Jacqueline did a great, thorough job of explaining their services, mission, core values and the reasoning behind their practices. Knowing that their mission was to make all folks feel comfortable and affirmed in a spa setting was a nice touch. At the end of our initial meeting, I asked Jacqueline a technical question about the sugaring process, and then Natalie came in and filled in the blanks for me. For my first session both Natalie and Jacqueline did my sugar, and to be honest if you've never had any hair removal done, and have a rather low pain tolerance like myself, it is a bit of a shock and can be painful. But it is tolerable, and they gave me time to breath, take a moment whatever I need to do before continuing on. And the full length mirror they have for you to check your satisfaction with the service at the end of your waxing was very helpful and nice! Overall it was a pretty pleasant and dope experience. Natalie also helped me talk through aftercare and gave me a gentle cleansing soap, and moisturizer samples. My only constructive critiques are the following: 1. It would have made me feel more comfortable if all staff were wearing medical grade masks (surgical or KN95's) since this is a very intimate physical space and an even more intimate service that is being provided. Especially if there is any coughing or sneezing happening. 2. While I was laying down on the table, right before we were starting the waxing, Natalie told me that I needed a required pre-care service to be done before the sugar - either the regular or the deluxe version. Being in a vulnerable position laying down about to start a service, I felt a little caught off guard. I naturally opted for the regular priced exfoliation because this was an additional cost that wasn't made extremely clear. It would be great if this was told while doing the new client in-take with Jacqueline, while fully clothed and sitting up, and if it were automatically added when you book the "1st time Brazilian/bikini" on the website. Not just in the description box. Looking forward to my next visit.

So I decided to try sugaring as part of my bday self care. The only thing I have every waxed in my life was my eyebrows (except for that one time I tried an at home wax that went way wrong). So I booked an appointment for a Brazilian with pre and post care. Uncle Nat's is close to my home, it's inside a residential building. They have clear instructions on their site as well as the emails that are sent. Stepping off the elevator is a bench/coat rack thingy and slippers to put on. You enter, wash your hands in a very quaint bathroom and then sit in the waiting area. The decor and colors are very warm and welcoming. There is water, tea and espresso available. And a nice mix of music playing in the background. Erin was/is my Sugarist(?), I was so nervous the first time but Erin talked me through everything. The actual experience of being sugared was interesting, some areas are definitely more sensitive but I made it through. I had LED treatment as aftercare. Also Erin's music playlist is hitting. I am in love with my lady bits, and on my second appointment I added pits. We also talked about ways to deal with my hyper pigmentation. As a Fat, Black, Lesbian I feel seen, heard and welcomed here. Without a doubt Sugaring Brooklyn provided the best hair removal experiences I have ever had. First of all, I have to mention Natalie (the owner) who is A FORCE to be reckoned with. They are hilarious, knowledgeable, inclusive, justice focused, and so so personable. I was often greeted with a hug when I arrived! Natalie immediately makes me feel comfortable and safe especially because they prioritize clear and open communication. Not once did I ever feel rushed, dismissed, or vulnerable. I feel so comfortable every time I go to Uncle Nat's Sugaring Brooklyn. Getting a bikini wax is not a comfortable process in anyway but the staff is so calming and clear that the client is in charge of the process and can take it at whatever lace the client needs. It was also my first time sugaring and it's not painless but no worse than waxing and in my experience, much faster. I don't dread needing to have bikini line maintenance as I have in the past! FYI: Parking is tough on the area so plan for alternative transportation or extra time. it’s located inside an apartment building so took me a minute to be sure I was at the right place.

I decided to go to Sugaring Bk because of their great website and their safe space policy. I got everything I hoped for. The 10 min intake process is just such a lovely experience of checking in on our pronouns, health issues and even traumas around certain areas on our bodies which I thought was amazing. Sugaring Brooklyn is probably the best hair removal experience I've had, and I've been removing hair in a varietal of ways since I was 12. Sugaring over all is so much more comfortable than waxing in my experience, and it also works better for me. Pros: - super relaxing and nice space - i feel really safe and very comfortable place to ask questions - they are very respectful of both their customers and employees, it seems like people are happy to be working there - they do a very thorough job Cons: - they have a very strict no-show/lateness policy, which i am totally on board for, the technicians time is valuable, but they don't seem to have the same respect for the customers time. I have been last minute rescheduled multiple times with no kind of compensation for my time. - their pre/post-care is very very over priced. its $15 at the cheapest for a few drops of product that is applied in 30 seconds. Over all the pros outweigh the cons and I am a continuing customer!

Just had my first appointment with Natalie this past weekend and it was a great experience! They were incredibly accommodating of me when I was late because of train delays and I didn't feel rushed at all once I arrived. They took the time to ask my pronouns, communicate their values and practices, and ask about any anxieties and any hold-ups. The process itself was relatively quick, about the same pain level as traditional waxing but the recovery time afterwards was so much easier. They do plenty of pre-care to prevent in-growns, redness, and soreness and explained their reasoning for every product they were using. They even answered my questions about stubborn ingrowns and provided me with a sample product to try at home before purchasing. It's been about 24 hours since my service and there was little to no redness at first, no soreness, and everything feels and looks great today. I'll definitely be back in a few weeks for another service and to say hello to the pups :)

I have been sugared by both Natalie and Erika, and both created a safe comfortable space for me and gave me great results. I've been coming here since October 2018, and I can say that my body hair has become refined and I can have about 2 weeks before hair regrowth now. Natalie understands that body hair is more than just an aesthetic choice for many people, and is always operating from a client-centered perspective. The shop environment has always been very clean from entering to leaving, the process of being sugared is ultra sanitary, and the space by nature is private and not at all crowed. These are things to keep in mind when choosing a place to get sugared post-COVID-19. Natalie was sanitary and procedural before, and has taken additional, thoughtful measures to protect her staff and clients. I will continue to travel from Upper Manhattan, because Sugaring Brooklyn is simply the best!

I emailed some questions to Natalie and they were super affirming and helpful. On the day of my appointment they were running a little late, but it was definitely worth a little wait. When it was my time I was greeted by Carmen (and met Mumu, an adorable French Bulldog) and she made me feel super comfortable and is a great communicator. The sugaring itself was not as painful as I anticipated. It was helpful that the environment was clean and had large, beautiful monstera and zz plants. I love this place so much I always come here to get my armpit sugared because I do not like her ingrown hairs from razors that’s very painful. Natalie always does an amazing job with my armpits it does hurt but she makes the pain very bearable and fast I recommend getting the pre-care as it just makes the whole process go by so much more quickly and more tolerable I came back today after A couple of months of not getting my armpits sugared and she was able to get off all the hair off of my armpit in one go which was amazing. I have never had a better experience, and intend to be a regular here while I’m in New York! This space is an asset to the community, fair to its workers, and provided the safest, gentlest, and most pleasant sugaring experience I’ve ever had. Other experiences at other salons sometimes involved waxing services that were alienating, exhausting, and left me feeling self-conscious and mis-gendered: this place has spoiled me for anywhere else. It’s a luxury, custom experience that’s worth the time and the price (though they have pricing options and a fund for people who need it!) Uncle Nat was attentive and flexible, honest about their pricing and careful to explain everything—the science of my skin, hair, and to match their choices of materials to my particular needs. They were also careful to ask if I had any traumatic spaces on my body, to listen to me when I needed to adjust things, to modulate the pressure of their touch, etc. in order to accommodate my claustrophobia! Honestly I don’t think I have ever had an experience with anyone—doctor, aesthetician, etc.—where I felt as safe and cared for. And perhaps most importantly: it worked! I’m so happy with how I look and the result, and am grateful for their time and skill. Their apprentice, Jacqueline, also did a great job. If you’re on the fence, go for it: do something kind for your body and your heart, and pay for the pre- and post-care if you have the time. They did this rose jelly mask that was everything I didn’t know I needed. Effective, safe(r), consent- and trauma-informed sugaring services unlike anything else. I’m devoted.

I had such a pleasant experience here. The space was inviting and peaceful, and I appreciated the covid precautions and safety measures they had in place. My session was with Sel who was both gentle and quick. They were considerate about "fading" where they waxed so as to not create a harsh distinction between the area where the hair was removed and where it was not. They also went above and beyond and took the time to check in on me after my session and addressed any concerns I had. I typically get bumps immediately after every wax session and have always been told to just clean the area and apply aloe, but Sel was able to correctly identify that I was actually just prone to allergic reactions and it could easily be resolved with some hydrocortisone. Within a day the bumps disappeared, and the regrowth wasn't a painful and itchy experience like it typically has been for me in the past.

Sugaring Brooklyn has been a GAME CHANGER for me when it comes to hair removal. First of all, their sugaring process is much better to my body than any waxing I’ve experienced. Don’t get me wrong—it’s still hair leaving the body, so it isn’t painless—but I find it certainly less painful than waxing. Also, the actual space is so warm, sparkling clean, and inviting! I love it every time I’m there—it feels like a cozy atmosphere rather than sterile. And one of my fav things about the experience is Natalie, who does my sugaring. She is SENSATIONAL. She’s quick, but thorough, and just has thee BEST personality. She usually has me laughing my way through the process with her awesome sense of humor. My first (and only) sugaring experience. The only place I have ever had someone ask for (and then actually use!) my pronouns, the only place I have experienced any kind of trauma-informed care, the only place I have felt even semi-comfortable being touched by anyone in a salon/beauty/etc environment, especially in sensitive areas. Most definitely recommend to everyone, especially fellow non-binary and gnc folks. Also think it's awesome that they offer pricing options and help marginalized folks, SW included, receive the services they need. Cannot sing their praises loud enough and I've only been once. Really happy to have found this place. There was so much that I appreciated but what jumps out most is the time that was taken to set up a safe space for me. I was greeted by a friendly group of people in a nicely decorated, clean, and cozy lobby. Once I got into the sugaring room, Sel gave me a full breakdown of what I was getting into, and was completely transparent about the process and how to take care of myself during it. They made sure to ask what my pronouns are and check in about what might make sugaring scary/anxiety-inducing for me. I'll list the pros/cons of my experience, but bottom line--I simply won't support businesses who mistreat their workers. Pros: clean space, the result was adequate. I like the 15-min intake (know that this is $10 and required of all first-time clients). Cons: Pricey! They also aggressively push their products and pre-cares. Prepare to spend ~$126 for a first time brazilian at the shop. I was referred by a friend who recently let me know some serious allegations of Natalie being abusive/anti-Black to several former sugar techs. I would have cancelled when I learned this, but there's an inflexible cancellation policy. Couldn't afford to be out $126! Now I know better and am searching for a POC-owned sugaring business. Also not sure if I would have returned anyway, the experience for me wasn't really worth the high cost. I think you can get a small discount (5% or so?) for writing a review (they call it the Daily Special), but I felt uncomfortable writing one in front of them.

They have talked me thru everything from the shape of my brows, my skincare routine to just distraction from that bikini hair removal process. I absolutely adore them! Thank you Uncle Nat for welcoming me into this very exclusive and inclusive space. What an amazing sugaring experience! I got what felt like a spa day to my bits done today. We started off with a lovely introduction to the space and set ground rules for all folks. Uncle Nat explained step by step what they were doing and I felt absolutely comfortable, as I’m usually body shy when undressed. They started me with a pre-care delux which does feel as glamorous as it sounds, worked their way into a nearly painless sugaring experience. The products that they used during my experience helped a great deal with the hair on my body because as a person of color, I feel prone to ingrown hairs. Uncle Nat was super friendly, polite, and quick. They never double dipped (really important), super clean space, yummy smelling as well (I need the name of that incense!) The room was nice, bright and very clean. Cross breeze to help with airflow, during this pandemic, I felt very at ease with this. Uncle Nat was very thorough and made me laugh during the entire experience. Afterwards they checked for any hairs that could not be picked up by the sugar and tweezed them. They applied an oil that smells amazing and assisted me in prebooking my next appointment. We spoke about home care regimen with ZERO pressure to purchase but I ended up making a purchase because I was so confident in the products they used on me today. Love it! Absolutely recommend it for all folks that are able to make it there. Thanks Uncle Nat for a loving experience.

This was my first time having sugaring done and it was great. This place is truly a gem. They’re LGBTQIAA+ friendly, trauma informed, and so so wonderful. Divina did my service and talked through everything, starting with sharing her pronouns and asking for mine, walking through what she would do and how she would interact with me during the process, and ending with a game plan in case I had a trauma response. There was even a safe word. This team is wonderfully informed and skilled, and I’ve never felt more taken care of. I will be back again and again and again. They also have a donation fund to provide services for those who can’t afford them, and offer services at a sliding scale for a variety of different folx who may not otherwise have access to them. I cannot say enough good things about the team here. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

Imagine the best support-group therapist ever, who specializes in body work with a trauma conscious focus, and you're still not even close to how welcoming this experience was. They were so authentic and intentional, set up clear boundaries and encouraged me to do the same. Honestly, I've never felt so held in a space before. Like a floating tank treatment, except for my soul. Which I was not expecting, considering I signed up to get hair ripped off my body. That part of it was a little ouchy, but nothing crazy. And I left feeling excited to have been able to participate in this business, and very fortunate to have been able to have this experience.

I follow Sugaring Brooklyn on Instagram, from their post alone I decided to take the hour and 45 minute drive for my very 1st sugaring experience. Now I've been waxed before but never sugared. When I tell you that it was worth it.... It was WORTH it!! Karmenife and Natalie were very thorough, explained the process and walked me through the entire appointment! Oh and did I mention the pre pumpkin treatment!? .... It smelled and felt AMAZING, and with the added warm towels 😌🧘🏽‍♀️ soooo relaxing.
