Reviews of The Arcade Providence
They only have 3 floors but the length of the floor it's a distance can't believe I was there like 5 hrs and some change never been to a store for that long. Had so much fun hanging out with my friends at this mall definitely would go again. It gets really busy after a certain time didn't pay attention exactly at what time that happened.
This indoor mall in downtown Providence is a quiet, peaceful, well-maintained space. From the outside it looks like just another building, but inside it has room for many businesses, and is a welcome diversion if you want to get out of the heat on a hot summer day. There did not seem to be many businesses inside. I think this is a very under-utilized location, and could be a more popular place for businesses if it got more visibility. I went here specifically for the Lovecraft Arts and Sciences store.
A great rotating blend of small businesses serve this farmer's market. With everything from gluten-, dairy-, soy-free, paleo-friendly baked goods, to vintage goods and clothes, to affordable works of art, you cannot miss out on this small market that runs every Sunday from October to May.
It usually runs from 11-3 on Sundays, with various other days being events to support the Providence downtown community. Come check it out!
Years ago this actually was a small shopping mall. Not so anymore. There are a couple of decent eateries geared for the office worker and a new age book shop. But, most of the building has been converted to residential condos. Unless you work in downtown Providence, not worth the visit.
This building is just magical and has the cutest little shops and dinning. Check the hours for each shop. Not much open early, but worth a stop if in providence. A piece of history and a great time.
Wow what a cool and historic place. Americas first mall built in 1828. The place was beautifully repurposed into lofts and retail space. There are two restaurant/bar’s inside as well. The arcade is well-maintained, very clean and a really neat place to visit. Very unique selection of local retail joints. there is also ample parking in the area on the weekends, as I have observed.
I have been a HUGE fan of all of the current and past shops in this fantastic find in downtown Providence! Drinks & food, specialty shops, and, lofts to stay in!
A fun stop for shopping for some unique items. Also need to stop at Rogue Island for breakfast or lunch. Outdoor seating.
Really cool.. the oldest indoor mall in America built 1828
Nice place!! There are few shops like restaurant, coffee, vintage etc.. I recommend go if are close or in the area, but if go on purpose is not worth it. You can spend 20 min in this place no more...
Neat historic shopping center. Shared a wrap with the kiddos. No public restrooms.
Historic shopping centre in the middle of Providence. It's very pretty and very pleasant on cold days. All shops are independent and there are a couple of cafes.
Not much open early afternoon, but good ice cream at Cozy.
I was so excited to walk through this historic building! I'd read all about it's conversion in architectural digest many years ago. (Check out a tour of the small apartments on you tube) however, really not too much to see when just walking through later on a weekend evening. Only a few stores open. Quiet. Still beautiful and definitely worth a stop and walk through. Such a great bit of history! Great for photos.
America's oldest Mall! Multiple fun shops and restaraunts! Check this place out!
Nice old building with great sandwich shop on 1st level, also a salon and small bookstore. Skylight roof is nice.
Amazing place, well maintained and clean.
Loved it! Service was great. Beer was delicious. Got the sample appetizer platter which came with a variety of items such as different cheeses, meats, spreads and crackers. I also ordered a burger which was pretty good and my friend got the brussel sprouts salad which was very delicious!
This place is so pretty, and I loved the lovecraftian book store. I wish there were more stores here. I'm rating it high in the hopes that it gets more foot traffic and more stores rent space here.
The Arcade is a Providence historical landmark. I've seen many changes into of it's walls. Absolutely beautiful architecture and small shops/food available inside.
Walking into this place always reminds me of what going to Italy would be like. Quaint and busy. Or majestic and impressive. I love just strolling through here and literally going to each shop, wandering around and talking with shop owners and other customers. It's like a little village inside of Providence.
Really cute little boutiques. Some of them are pricey but if you're into kitsch, vintage, or weird I'd suggest checking out Carmen and Ginger. If you want to know more about the weird occult-y history of Providence check out Love Craft. There's also some nice clothes boutiques, good food, and a salon.
I enjoyed my time there . Many different little shops to chose from and people there are just generally nice and polite . There was a small little vintage shop in the arcade plaza that cought my eye. The guy there was very nice and everything in there was interesting. There was also a shop that sold Burritos , the food there smelled so good and tempting but I will save it for the next time I go by there. There was also a small shop , the size of a walk in closet, where they sell tabaco products of all sorts. It was pretty cool. There is no parking per say. And the bus terminal was near by. Very nice.
It feels a little quiet and empty but it’s been beautifully cared for and the shops that are there are great, especially the vintage store! You can walk in one end and out the other so it’s worth a few moments to pass through the first indoor shopping mall in America!
A swanky ultra modern set of stores inside the corridor of an iconic historical building downtown. The building was actually designed for this use though it may look like the stores were added in. It has a very peaceful relaxed atmosphere due to flowers and trees and lots of open glass windows. Very nice high end stores for some browsing here.
So pretty! I'm very happy it's still around! Support this mall!❤
This place right here is a hidden gem in Rhode Island. There a a few small shops inside with a lot to offer. If you're a fan of H.P. Lovecraft there's a store just for that. Although the Lovecraft store is my favorite place to go in my spare time there is also a very nice coffee shop/bar with a amazing coffee and a good selection of alcohol. Oh and if you're looking for something to eat inside I highly recommend a little restaurant known as Rouge Island. One of the absolute best restaurants in all of Rhode Island. The staff will make you feel right at home with their friendly atmosphere. Wait for food isn't very long here. But the best part is the mouth watering food. The Arcade Providence is one of the greatest places in all of Rhode Island.
A wonderful Victorian Arcade, with some equally wonderful stores, bars and restaurants.
The H.P. Lovecraft Arts & Sciences was the main reason I visited the Arcade, and they put on various events over the weekends. The shop is a Lovecraftian fans dream, with an array of shiny things to purchase, and the owners are really friendly and a pleasure to talk too.
The bar opposite the HPL Arts & Sciences was ideal for beverages and a nice chill out spot. The bar staff here were really nice and friendly. The deli was pretty good at the far end of the Arcade, some delicious wraps were had.
The Arcade was also an ideal meeting point between the friends that I made whilst visiting, and I can’t wait to return again in 2017!
Best book store for horror ever!
Renovated beautifully. Lots to choose from. The restaurants have great lunches and dinners. Wanting to go back to try some other dishes ! You won't be disappointed.
This weeks adventure brought us to this wonderful little strip mall of sorts. One store af times gone by I'll enter next time I'm here.
It was the Lovecraft and Science store that pulled us in - literally. This bewilderment is right up my ally so I was surprised when my son asked if I ever heard of him. lol Who hasn't right? There was far too much to inhale in one short visit but we did a good job at checking out the abundance of books, T-shirts, momentoms etc... We walked out with two books, a complete compilation of Lovecraft stories and a bedtime story for the kiddos - 'Tha Call of Cthulhu'. The ladder might be a book for beginner readers but it's perfectly illustrated with notes of Dr. Seuss and the rhymings. Another call out book for kids is 'The Big Red God'. There's something for everyone.
The sweet cashier was as pleasant as ever, didn't mind if I took pictures or had the audacity to put my coffee on the glass. I guess if I were doing something awful I would have been sucked into the abyss.
Please make Providence your stop by place and check out the most unique experience you didn't know you deserved.
The Arcade/Granoff Associates were by far the best landlords I've ever had. Everything about the micro lofts was carefully planned and thoughtfully constructed as opposed to so many other cookie cutter apartment buildings that are often built as cheaply and as quickly as possible. Wish I didn't have to move otherwise I would still be here.
A very interesting array of shops, you have antiques, food, clothing and a shop dedicated to H. P. Lovecraft, the macabre story teller. It's a fun area to look around and have lunch, the staff was friendly and helpful.
Cool historic shopping mall. The building itself has a tremendous amount of character. Mostly antiques and art shops within. Also features nice food options, like Rogue Island pub/restaurant.
Unique and historic place... I was impressed with the architecture and the renovations made and how it still works today. Parking space available not far. And it's near other restaurants, bakeries, library, and walking distance to Burnside Park.
IT is unfortunate that the entire space could not be kept as retail and office, but economics demanded a new use. Still worth a visit.
This is a landmark. Very nice. Built in 1828
I went there to clean my boss's apartment
Chic and located close to Kennedy Plaza, this place offers a handful of shops on the ground floor that includes a great coffee shop and bar, an HP Lovecraft oriented gift shop, and a salon, among a few boutiques. The upper floors are closed to the public, but contain various apartments that are reliable.
A beautiful, historic building in Providence with several little shops inside. Notable stops are the Lovecraft store for horror knickknacks and Rogue Island for some of the best local food & beer around.
A great piece of retail history. Several quaint shops, awesome coffee roasters, and several great take out lunch restaurants. Come for a quick bite and marvel in the history.
Time travel to 1828 when you walk through the doors of the Arcade. Very small mall there are about 8 business' - restaurants, bar, cafe, hair salon, clothing, and vintage shop. Well worth a quick peek along with the vintage store with little grab bag items that are relatively cheap. There is also a little art store, which had designs made from a local art school.
Fun stop when day tripping in Providence.
+ Americas first indoor shopping center.
+ Historic landmark
+Greek revival architecture
+Now home to handful of shops and a few restaurants - .
+Cool micro loft apartments on the top floors.
It's an interesting and eclectic mix of restaurants a coffee/liqour bar and other shops and apartments. Parking isn't always easy to come by but it is a walkable area. The garage nearby is incredibly expensive.
This was a cool place with a lot of history. It is definitely worth stopping in when you are in town. Visit the Lovecraft Arts & Sciences store for some interesting ephemera.
Such a unique place, but a lot shops weren't open, likely because of the pandemic. Hopefully that will change soon.
I LOVE this place. There is a coffee shop, a Lovecraft themed book store, and a great antique shop. If you're looking for an interesting place to meander about, this location is right for you
Is this even a shopping mall? Just a number of stores outdoors... I was there Sat morning and half of shops were closed.
I've been to this mall a few times already. Every time I'm here I enjoy it. I like doing my shopping here and the food court has fantastic food.
Wonderful upgrades done to this arcade happy to see it in use again I recommend going if you haven't been in a while lots of great food choices awesome stores tons of thrift shops
Oldest indoor mall in the country. Goes back to the 18th and 19th century. I believe. Nice little boutique stores and restaurants.
Cool architectural structure but stores inside were lackluster. Nothing really special here for our interests. Might be cool for others though.
Beautiful architecture. Retail was just open very early.
The Arcade is a pretty interesting spot if you wanna learn about the state of Rhode Island and everything H. P. Lovecraft related. Never pass up the opportunity to stop there everyone once in a while.
Neat historical mall. Small shops, coffee, and bars. Micro apartments. Lovecraft Arts and Sciences here too. "Keep Providence Eldritch".
Wonderful little historic mall full of independent shops and cafes. Much better than any other mall you could go to.
The oldest Mall nice place to go on Sunday they have a beautiful Farmers Market everybody is so friendly you can sample everything and purchase also highly recommend

Great independent and quirky shops and restaurants on this little street. Fun and vibrant vibe throughout.
Go to livi's pockets. Get a gyro with falafel it's very good every time. Cost about $9 for lunch with a drink.
Great little shopping spot in downtown, filled with good snack stops, and one of a kind shopping
Neat little shopping mall, full of unique shops. They just need to have more trash cans and air conditioning.
The shops are high end but it's random stuff. They have nice studio apartments.
I only come here to get my lunch.. there is 2-3 food serving places in this mall.. I won't recommend anyone to travel out of state to come here but if you are close by and are hungry..why not grab a bite..there is wraps and tacos and etc
Neat building, definitely stop in at Lovecraft Arts and Sciences if you like weird/horror.
Great historical place in town with a bit of shopping and nice little restaurants
Pretty cool historic building with great shops and restaurants inside!

Great historic building, redecorated with style. Usually pretty empty.

(Translation) Very nice, we only went to the Lovecraft store

Muy bonito, solo fuimos a la tienda Lovecraft
(Translation) The place is beautiful and historic but I have always found almost everything closed except the bars. To eat everything ok, not to buy

El lloc és bonic i històric però sempre he trobat gairebé tot tancat, excepte els bars. Per menjar tot ok, no per comprar
