Coming here is like going to a good friend's house! every time I go I feel very welcome, and what I like the most is that they are runners like me. I am a long distance runner and here I always come to find all the fuel I need in my races. I don't know the name of the guy who attends me, but his advice and his experience as a runner have been very useful to me. It has a convenient parking lot, and they also offer many little things for those of us who have the joy of running through these streets of Louisville! they have very nice clothes! And the prices are reasonable!

Great service and very knowledgeable staff. I tried on everything suitable for my feet in my size, but many things were out of stock. It wasn't due to any fault of the store, but just backorders and supply chain issues. I'd support local and buy from them when they have more inventory.

I train at The Training Studio and Ken Combs was highly recommended by everyone. I’ve never been much of a runner and haven’t had anyone’s help buying shoes in a long time. I went in near close one day because it was the only time I could go, and the person helping me that day was someone I knew from TS. I told him I was interested in the running club and that my other shoes were hurting my feet. He took measurements, looked at the structure of my feet, and then brought out multiple pairs he thought would be a good fit. I tried them all and settled on the Brooks Adrenaline ones. They had my size, but only in a brighter color, so they took a special order for more neutral ones and let me know asap when they were in. No one was other bothered or rushy about me being in the store that late which I appreciate. I try not to be “that” person, but I was and they certainly didn’t make me feel like it. I was able to pick up my shoes when I had the time to get back to the store and they were again very friendly. I know there’s a bunch of good small shoe stores in Louisville, but I’ll definitely be coming back here for shoes and other athletic needs. Makes me feel good to support local and get treated well rather than taking a shot in the dark at a big chain retailer or ordering online. Thanks!

Not just for runners. I am semi-retired and with the free time started walking our overweight dog. I am overweight myself and not a runner. I stopped in because of foot pain with what I thought were good shoes. I told Mike what I wanted the shoes for and after noticing an arch problem, he came back with a comfortable walking shoe with great support. I only stopped in to browse and try on shoes that I was looking to buy online. I don't generally buy from them because they act like I'm going to steal something whenever I go in there. But the sales person, also a person of hispanic heritage, treated me with respect and like I had money to spend - which I did. She worked hard to find me the right size so I ended up buying two pairs of Hokas. There was some other staff guy creeping around, pretending to work but the shoes fit, I liked them and her service was outstanding so I broke my rule and bought from them. Good job diversifying your staff Ken!

First time here and was a great experience. I am a nurse who works 12 hour shifts and needed something to wear so my feet wouldn't be so sore. Matt was the person who helped me and he was extremely nice and helpful. He mapped my feet with a thermal pad and recommended 3-4 shoes. I went with Hooka Bondi 8. I'll be back when I need new shoes for sure.

Having seen my enthusiasm for the “Triple Crown of Running” and Derby Half-Marathon, my wife decided to attempt running for the first time in her life. Recognizing the need to get her the perfect shoes lest she loose interest quickly because of foot-discomfort, I took her here. The lady assisting her was so knowledgeable and polite, much better customer service than I could ever have imagined. They analyzed her foot type as well as her foot strike and recommended maybe 6 different pairs. They took her time with her, allowing her the opportunity to jog outside with each pair until she ultimately decided on the ones pictured. She spent over an hour assisting my wife in finding the right shoes for her. Further, my son got fitted for a perfect pair of non-spike track/long jump shoes to train in.

So first, let me say, I had tried another running shoe store down on 3rd street nearer my home. Not impressed at all. Left with no shoes. After searching again I decided to give Ken Combs a shot. So glad I did. They have a great selection of things for runners. Kiki made this visit wonderful and guaranteed me returning in the future. She was very personable and definitely knew about running shoes. I have very wide feet. I told her my needs. She measured my feet and then went to work. She knew by looking at my feet in the first pair of shoes I tried that they weren't right. While I tried on the others she brought out she went in back and found better shoes for me based on what she saw. I decided on a pair Brooks and then asked if she could find me some shoes in the clearance sction for walking. BOOM! She went to work again. I think she gave me 7 total shoes to choose from for the visit. Just a fantastic person! I ended up leaving with two pairs of shoes and spent less than I was expecting. Sign on the door going in says "Buy Local" Indeed. I suggest Ken Combs be your local source! 5 stars for the store. 10 stars for Kiki!

There is no better place to go for shoes. The gentleman was exceptional. My sister needed shoes after bilateral joint replacement. Her feet are hard to fit. He made sure she got what she needed and would work for her. Update. Those shoes fit and worked out fantastic. The foot pain she had basically disappeared.

I spent an unbelievable amount of money at the Good Feet store only to have to buy shoes for my son few months later. His feet were still prolonging crooked. Went to Ken Combs and Patrick really took care of us. My son is overweight and not a runner but works standing on feet all day. He measured and took his time finding a shoe best suited for him. I'm on my feet all day, so I need supportive shoes. I also have oddly-shaped monster feet so it's very hard for me to find shoes that fit me properly. Ken Combs is pretty much the only place in town that I know of that has salespeople with actual expertise who know their products and can help solve problems like mine. I walked in, explained my problem to a very kind and helpful young lady, and she immediately produced two pairs of shoes that fit me very well indeed, and even showed me a different way to lace them for even better fit. I was out the door a very satisfied customer in maybe twenty minutes. The shoes were not inexpensive, but I knew that going in. I'm willing to pay for expertise, which makes both the experience of shopping and the final results immensely better and more satisfying. I can't recommend the place highly enough, especially for those with hard-to-fit feet.

*Long review, but worth the read!* I have been a server/waitress for 5 years now, so naturally I’ve tried every possible shoe and changing shoes out every two months. I naturally have extremely wide feet and when I started working at the hospital, I knew I needed something with longevity. Wide shoes are so difficult to find that fits perfectly. I came into the store because I was hoping someone with some knowledge of shoes & the proper fit would help me and that’s exactly what I found! I’ve been in the store two or three times. The first time, Ms. Luanne guided me through the process of finding the right sizing, the right insole; literally everything. Because I’m a server, I’m required to wear non-slip shoes, although the first shoe I purchased didn’t quite work out, I was able to exchange my pair of shoes for something for my second job. The second time I came in, she fitted me for numerous shoes & insoles. She was exceptionally patient and didn’t once rush me in my purchases. She was very understanding and so knowledgeable on the variety of products the own. Being a younger female, people usually brush me off and don’t really take the time to help me because they assume I’m not not there to buy anything, or is just looking for the cheapest product. Ms. Luanne didn’t make me feel that way at any point. I’m extremely thankful that she guided me towards the best decision I’ve ever made for work shoes. It’s been about three months since I’ve purchased my shoes & insoles, and I’m able to work (3) 12hr+ shifts every week with no problem. If you have no idea what you’re looking for, but know you need shoes, and help getting there, this store is exactly the place you need to go! Everyone there was so kind & welcoming. I would absolutely recommend this store to anyone! They have every shoe possible from running, walking, nursing, restaurant, or just comfort!

Highly recommend!!!! I am NOT a runner and have always been intimidated to go into a “Running Shoe” specialty store. However, I battle extreme foot pain that can be crippling at times. My podiatrist made me set a consultation appointment with Ken Combs Running Store today and I want to give a HUGE thank you to Luanne!!! I have plantar fasciitis and I’ve been struggling for years. I finally wanted to do something about it and the first place I went to told me it was gonna cost $2110 to solve my problem! I was feeling defeated But then I went to Ken Combs store and all of my frustrations diminished away. Bus was tremendously helpful and let me know that it would not even cost nearly that much to get my pain taken away. Bus even told me about exercises I could do to alleviate plantar fasciitis. Today I’m walking in some awesome shoes and I hardly feel any pain at all! They are so incredibly kind and caring there at Ken combs and I’m so glad that I went there for many reasons.

Could you *maybe* find it elsewhere cheaper? Sure. But if you have a fit issue with your shoes they know what style of shoe to try next so you aren't guessing. Just walked in with a foot cast asking for shoes cheaper than ny usual to fit my good foot - so i don't wear out more expensive shoes while in a cast. First pair was almost a match, second pair was exactly what i need, including cheap enough I'm not bothered by the fact that I'm only using one of them. They recognized me when i walked in and only brought me shoes likely to work. And they carry a good range of sizes and widths. Time being money, and i don't like wasting it at stores that don't carry my size. So yeah. I can buy my usual shoes for working on my feet cheaper online. But being able to walk into a store and get expert help as to where to look for my next pair? That's worth more than what they charge.

I went into the store to buy some running socks. I had some generic brands and when approached I was taken to a wall full of socks I hadn't even heard of. I bought four pairs of two different brands. I came back a few days later and bought five more pairs. The guy working gave me a pair for free. I came in a week later and bought three more pairs of socks. I mentioned to him at the register that one of the brands I didn't care for as much. He gave me a discount at the register for my current purchase. Very good customer service!!

Went in to purchase some shoes and potentially some shirts to keep cooler while running. I was given lots of helpful information and probably tried on 10 pairs before we found a set that were appropriate. I was told that I should try the shoes indoors and return them if they dont fit right. I suspect I need to go up a half size but I found that very accommodating. Will return in the coming months when it is time to replace shoes again.

I stopped in on January 24th, 2015 to look for a new pair of running shoes for marathon training. I was looking for a shoe that offered a softer ride than the Asics GT-2000 version 2's that I am currently wearing. Upon entering the store, I was greeted immediately by Chris, who asked how he may be of assistance. Chris explained options among several shoe brands that might offer what I was looking for. Tyler also assisted in pulling several different shoe options to try on. I never felt pressured or rushed to make a decision and Chris was able to give knowledgeable opinions on the various options. I am very pleased with the level of customer service I received from Chris at Ken Combs. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for running or walking shoes. I purchased the new Asics GT-2000 version 3 and I am very happy with the shoe thus far. Thank you Chris and Tyler!
