Great lunch in a pretty area. Good food, casual and welcoming environment and good service. The Hot Chicken sandwich was perfect and the chicken was fabulous. It had a crunchy honey crust with a bit of heat and it paired perfectly with the dill pickles and mayo. My friend had the turkey/apple/brie sandwich (grilled) and said it was very good. But we both agreed the best part of the meal was the French Onion Soup. Holy cow! It was the best onion soup I have ever had. It was hot and melty, savory and a little sweet, with wonderfully thick golden cheese, tons of tender onion, and croutons which actually had body. Yum, yum, yum! In addition, Erika, our server, was attentive and upbeat and made us feel very welcome. We ended up lingering over the meal even though we had errands planned for the afternoon. It was relaxing and peaceful. Very glad we drove downtown to try The Kitchen. We will be back!

So my spouse and I stopped by for dinner. Service was awesome. Staff were attentive and very friendly. One of the servers went out of their way to look for candles when we asked for them. Now the food was something else. I had the turkey apple brie and it was possibly one of the best sandwiches I have ever had in my life. I say that with many years of eating out. The tomato bisque was delightful. My spouse had the turkey burger and it was just as good as my sandwich. It is rare both dishes amazed me. Now for dessert. The white wedding cake brought back memories I had of a cake from a friend's wedding years ago. The frosting wasn't too sweet yet still flavorful. Cake itself was soft and moist. Also a generous slice. The French silk pie was one of the tastiest Pies I've had, and I've eaten many Pies. I only have positive things to say about the Kitchen and I hope anyone reading this gets to stop by to try it out. I plan on returning the next time I'm in the state.

My bestie took me to The Kitchen for my birthday because we wanted to try it and it was awesome! They weren't packed but they were steady and they only had 2 waiters for the whole place but they kept up and did great and the food was delicious! We've recently quit drinking but if we hadn't, we would have tried some drinks because the drink menu was impressive and I'm a bartender. The carrot cake was the perfect ending for the perfect dinner! With appetizers, dinners, sweet teas, and dessert, it was only $45! Heck of a deal!

It was ok! The servers were really busy. All but 2 tables were full but at least 3 different people walked by at least 6 times before anyone acknowledged that we were standing there waiting. They were friendly once we got seated & kept the drinks coming. I had some sort of chicken pesto sandwich & it was very salty. The texture of the chicken was a little off for me. (I'm very picky about chicken & usually only get fried chicken at most places because it's usually a safer bet.) Fries were really good! My daughter loved her mac & cheese. My husband's Nashville hot chicken sandwich (fried) was much better than mine. There was some random clutter in the dining area & bathroom that just made it seem a little off-putting to me. I might try it again sometime to see if it was just an off evening.

I have always read the reviews of this place. Don’t know why I never ate here earlier. Had the steak Diane and Cajun penne. Both extremely good. Coupled with great and friendly service this place is a must try again but I will have the dessert first.

Dined here on a Tuesday during the lunch hour, it was busy but no wait for a table. The waitress was kind, but the wait for food was a bit longer than expected for a lunch hour. Food was out in approximately 25 minutes, this is the only reason I give four stars! The food itself was delicious and portions were adequate for the price. Pictured is the creamy spinach pasta with grilled chicken!

So i ate some of the shrimp scampi before i took the picture but it had 5 tail on shrimps and it came with a piece of toast. the drink was lavender lemonade it was not to tangy but not to sweet. It was to my liking it was so pretty the waiting staff was amazing one older lady and young gentleman who took care of me. I was left to myself (i prefer that) then every five minutes are you doing all right

The presentation was fantastic and the service was pretty good, but the food was shockingly bland. I am still amazed by how unimpressed I was by it. I wouldn’t return, especially for the price, which would be fine if the food was tasty, but it’s just so boring and I am not the only one who thinks that.

I ordered the chicken pesto wich which was delicious! Grilled chicken breast, basil pesto, melted mozzarella, tomatoes and lettuce drizzled with house Italian served with fries. This sandwich was so fresh and I loved the house Italian. My friend ordered the chicken parm sandwich. Crispy fried chicken breast, marinara sauce, mozzarella on a fresh brioche bun.

It was a neat little restaurant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and it seems like a perfect place for lunch, or just a night cap. It's small and quite, which made it very relaxing! The food was good. The the service was on point and very friendly. If you're in the Old Town area looking for a great lunch, looking to grab a quick snack or just a nightcap check them out!

The food was great! The reason the service gets a three is because the guy who must have been the manager came to the rescue! Otherwise, it would have been one or less. My overall rating is still a 4, and I will visit again. They had some new help, but even so, it was pretty bad. The French onion soup was the best part of my experience.

They do offer a kids me u, but it just isn't on the paper menu. My kids got a cheeseburger and plain pasta. We also got the Penne Alfredo and my goodness it was oh so yummy and full of flavor. The sauce was also unbroken, which is obviously a good sign! The chicken parmesan was a little overdone and slightly burnt on the bottom. The seasoning on the fries is awesome and they were crispy on the outside and perfect on the inside. I would go back for the Penne Alfredo any and every day!

Ordered salad with Nashville chicken over it, it was very good! Also had a cheese burger the first one was seriously over cooked so they made me another one it was better than the first one. But what made my experience wonderful was the waitress! She was amazing!!!!

The food was very good! I had the quiche (which they only have on Wed and Sat) and salad. The piece of quiche was huge and delicious, though I prefer a more crunchy crust. The garden salad was fresh and I loved the home made ranch. The service was good, though it was busy and we had to ask for a side of ranch 3 times.

The good is always delicious. It was a holiday and very busy lunch when we went, with no open spaces. The staff, including the owner and chef, was all supporting each other hustling to meet the demands of the day as much as humanly possible. The seating and acoustics indoors made conversation with a child at the table difficult because it's very open and there's plexiglass up from COVID still. But again, it was a crowded day. The outdoor patio is lovely. All customers seemed happy and satisfied despite the rush, which speaks to the food and management.

Great customer service! Everyone was so friendly. Food was absolutely delicious! We had the spinach dip as an appetizer and decided on the Steak Diane and Philly Smash Burger as our entrees. We will certainly be back to try more items on their menu!

We went to the kitchen 2x and got very pleasant experience from the tall guy (owner?) both times. I like low salt and didn't find anything to complain about when i ordered the spinach flatbread and burger with sweet potato fries. My bf love the lavender lemonade and his food. In the winter, order the hot chocolate special. I got two in one night and had to share the deliciousness. The wait staff were very kind and know the menu well. Both ladies answered all the little questions we had and most importantly, matched our humor/energy. It's a small place and get busy on Fridays but the wait was very brief. We're convinced the menu is someone's fav food and will be coming back to try everything they offer eventually. Thanks Kitchen for wonderful meals and service. 🔥💯

We got some really good food here. The service started off a bit slow, we waited a bit to finally place our order, but the food came out quickly and was very good. My wife's meal had a hair in it that she pulled 9ut 9f her mouth as the server was at the table checking on drink refills. The manager was very apologetic and comped our entire meal, both of them and the appetizer. We won't let one hair stop us from returning to try other menu itams. The service ended up being top notch, which makes returning much easier.

Received a gift card for this place for Christmas. Ordered the chicken Thai bowl, BBQ burger, lavender lemonade and a dr pepper. Staff was very attentive and nice. Chicken Thai bowl lacked flavor, had to ask for siriacha to wake up the dish. The burger was ok, but nothing to write home about. We ended the meal by taking home a cinnamon roll bread pudding and a chocolate moose cake. I enjoyed the moose cake very much. The bread pudding just wasn't for me. It was a little on the mushy side. I understand just because I don't enjoy something doesn't mean others won't. So I am giving a 4 star review, and will try the kitchen again in the future.

We went just before the lunch slam arrived. It got a bit noisy so, I could only hear the people next to me. (I do have a bit of hearing loss, so take that with a grain of salt.) Everyone in my group liked the food. It had been a long time since I had enjoyed homemade potato chips.

This unexpected place is at the back of the old depot. It has the old tiled floor, square tables and a few booths. The staff are welcoming and willing to be flexible, and the menu is interesting. The chicken piccatta was delicious, with a crisp surface and a tart and peppery sauce. This is a peaceful and comfortable place to relax and try something new.

Everything was fantastic, from the food to the service, it was on point. The Lunch Burger had a great flavor and the portions weren't overwhelming. The pomegranate lemonade was great. We can’t wait to stop in for brunch or lunch! * We tried the Beef Stroganoff & the Cali Turkey burger. As well as the Disco Fries ( Chicken, Fries, Mozzarella & Gravy ) Also tried the Boozy Lavender Lemonade. Overall 7/10 THINGS WE DIDN’T — 1. Customer service could have been better. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, and not having been there before, it was unclear if we were to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. We asked for straws, to which we never got, and then ordered a drink which we didn’t get and had to take it to go. Could have had a better flow. 2. As the evening went on it did get pretty loud.

The Kitchen has a awesome dish I eat every time we go. The whiskey beef stroganoff is so decadent and delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone. The shrimp scampi is my hubby’s go to. He never eats the same thing twice but he did the scampi. Fresh made everything like the best brownies.

This was our first time in. Wait staff was amazing, Atmosphere was clam, clean place, love the old tile floor. Had a loud echo is the only disadvantage I found. Simple menu with lots of yummy sounding food. We will be back to try more, and save room for a pie it's the best.

The Chicken BLT sandwich was great! Lightly breaded chicken breast fried to perfection. Topped with pepper bacon, farm fresh lettuce and tomato and a light mayo dressing. The fries were hot and crisp. Honestly I was too busy wolfing down that juicy chicken to realize my fries were getting cold. Neer was cold and reasonable priced. Servers were on point and very helpful. Clean bathrooms.

One of my favorite restaurants in Wichita! They serve super fresh, extremely flavorful food. Their spinach artichoke dip is the best I've had and their homemade pita chips are incredible. And definitely, definitely save room for dessert. Everything they serve is spectacular, but their strawberry cake is the absolute star of their menu. It's like a creamy, strawberry dream. On top of the great food, their staff is always friendly, welcoming and on top of their service. I love this place.

Wish I could give a 4.5! The Kitchen is a neat place with an interesting menu and really nice, attentive service. The food is well prepared and the variety is outstanding. It's not fancy, doesn't pretend to be, but the presentation and quality of the food is outstanding. Why not a 5? Atmosphere. I can't put my finger on it, but it feels crowded and disorganized, like they really tried to put just a couple too many tables in the place. The air-conditioning is simply not adequate. We were there on a warm (85°) evening and it was frankly stuffy and "close". It's hard to really enjoy food when you're not comfortable.

Oh my goodness, the food is delicious. Had the cheeseburger soup, fries and then shared raspberry cake and creme brulee. Every single bit was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. Nice place, good service, our server Atlanta, was very nice and upbeat. Spinach artichoke dip was great and the pita chips that comes with it have a flakey crunch that tastes amazing with the dip. Next time I’m ordering two spinach dips! smokehouse bbq burger tastes like a better version of a rodeo burger for BK. Whenever I have a burger I realize I don’t like them like I use to. Mac and cheese has good penne pasta that comes with garlic bread tastes good. Crème brûlée was great.

Overall a great first experience. We went about 3pm so it was slow; service was obviously quick at that time. Waiter was friendly and offered suggestions. My southwest bowl was fantastic and my wife really enjoyed her BBQ chicken Flatbread. And we shared slice of carrot cake for dessert, which was also amazing. I liked the intimate feel of the restaurant.

I wish they had more gluten free options. The bowls are really nice. They have a vegan pasta, but they mainly do burgers, flatbread pizza and sandwiches. I wish they had gluten free bread and buns. I would be willing to pay an upcharge. Whenever I have been they have a more relaxed service. Nice place that has tried to be gluten free and vegan conscious but needs a few more options. Ps if you need gluten free bread Whole Foods sells a nice loaf, also most places sell buns that are great.

I LOVE The Kitchen!!! It is our go to restaurant for Friday lunch in my office. If we can’t decide what we want, The Kitchen. We know we will get stellar food and it never disappoints. It is definitely a hidden gem and more people should know about it!! The Nashville hot chicken sandwich is my absolute favorite thing on the menu along with their ranch. So so good!

Charming, smaller venue with a comfortable atmosphere. A surprising menu with both down home favorites (chicken and waffles), and upscale items (steak Diane.) Generous portions without being overwhelming. The chicken and waffles was delightful, accompanied by a spicy honey with just the right balance of sweet and tangy, followed a bright kick of spice. I'm not much on French fries, but theirs are perfectly seasoned; crispy and golden. I ate half of them, which is a huge compliment. The Kitchen's take on beef stroganoff was incredible. The whisky mushroom sauce is creamy and decadent, tossed over by perfectly cooked penne. The beef was a well seasoned, dry aged steak grilled with a beautiful, flavorful sear on the outside and precise medium rare on the inside. The Boozy Lavender Lemonade was a great counterpoint to the richness of the meal. I cannot wait to return and explore the rest of the menu.

One of the best restaurants I've visited. You can tell with every dish that the chefs actually care. The fried vegetables each had their own batter to compliment each vegetable. The garlic cream sauce in my pasta had just a hint of lemon, which honestly changed the way I thought about cream sauces it was so good. I highly recommend this place.

The Kitchen staff made our 40+ year reunion dinner very special and memorable. The food was GREAT. The entrees we fabulous and the desserts were out of this world, and I typically don’t like desserts. The staff treated us like we were royalty. Second time eating here and it was as good as the first. This time I ordered the Cuban panini with their homemade chips and tomato bisque soup. The sandwich and chips were excellent and the soup was alright. This has become a favorite of ours so will definitely be back. Also introduced the rest of the family to here and they all loved it.

Stopped in for the first time for my birthday dinner with my best friend. We were waited on quickly and checked on several times, but the food took a long time to come out. We were chatting it up anyway, so we weren't too upset. We were told that it was taking so long because all the tables ordered at once. Once the food did make it out, wow were we impressed. I had the chicken and waffle and it was wonderful. The waffle had what I think were little sugar pearls that kind of burst in the mouth. Combined with the hot honey sauce and the savory, juicy chicken it was a great mix of flavors. I'm not a big fan of super spicy things, so the spice in this meal was perfect for me. Sweet and heat hitting the taste buds just right. My friend had a turkey club and they crisped up the bacon for her just the way she asked. On the advice of the staff, we took home strawberry cake slices, and while I haven't tasted mine yet, it looks devine. Overall, I would certainly return. I'm just thankful I wasn't starving because the wait for our entrees was excessive.

This was our second stop on a progressive date night, and it did not disappoint! From internet reviews, I was imagining more of a dinner place and less of the sandwich and salad place we discovered. However, we were fortunate that we could indulge in lighter fair and delicious cocktails for our meal. I thought thoroughly enjoyed my Thai bowl, and whatever you put on the chicken is mouthgasmic! It was exactly the meal I needed and I'll be eating it again. Next time, I will likely ask to skip the rice and ask for extra vegetables, not because the rice wasn't good, but so I can tell myself I deserve to try all of the desserts.

Our waitress was very friendly and we were the only ones in there for lunch so service was very quick and on point. The Whiskey Onion rings were amazing! I had the bacon mushroom flat bread and it was good had they added some roasted garlic cloves or something a little more would have sent it over the top! Okay, to be honest, my experience was from October of 2019... I wanted to give it some time to make sure that my review was fair and not made out of anger. Our family went to The Kitchen for my mother's birthday, at her request. We were promptly seated, and our order was taken. We were rushed through our appetizer (which was tasty) and our food was brought before we could even eat half of the appetizer. We made a comment about being rushed, but, we were willing to forgive. Halfway through our main course a check was unceremoniously plopped onto our table and we were left to our own devices. The other tables around us were all offered dessert and their experiences appeared less rushed... And since we were there for a birthday, it upset me that we were never offered the same. I never said anything but obviously I looked cranky enough that the waiter demanded to know why I was upset. When I started to tell him that the entire meal had felt rushed and that we were never offered desserts, he spoke over me multiple times and told me why I shouldn't be upset... meaning, that he never wanted to know how to fix it, he just wanted to tell me why I was wrong to feel that way. The food was good and the 3 star rating is because of the service and the server.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my meal each time I've visited The Kitchen! The last time I was there I ordered the cauliflower pearls instead of pasta. It was delicious!! It's nice to have a restaurant that I can go to and make healthy choices without sacrificing flavor. The parking in the area isn't the best, but I can't blame the restaurant for that. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. The deserts looked wonderful, but as it was January and I was trying to eat healthy, I didn't try any. I hope to be able to attend one of their cooking classes at some point and would encourage others who are interested to check out their Facebook page for more information. Great food, great service, can't wait to go back!

This cozy little place just East of the train tracks off Douglas is a must try! They have everything from wraps & sandwiches to full entrees like whiskey beef stroganoff and portions are large. I tried the Chicken Fried BLT. Chicken was super delicious - moist and very crispy and Dijon sauce was terrific. Definitely will be back!

The only complaints, the service could have been a little faster and there is a 90 minute time limit on parking. That may sound crazy but when you go with your friends you can stay a long time talking!!

I was disappointed about that. For a $11 meal I was hoping for a better burger. While they did at least cook the bun it just didn't meet the mark. I might try them again for one of their other items but likely wont make a special trip.

When we first walked in we really didn't expect much. The place wasn't anything spectacular and there was a little weird smell too. BUT we soon came to find out that this was a diamond. The service was incredible and the food was so delicious. Plus there was a great variety.. you could get a burger and fries or, if you wanted something a bit heavier, they had multiple pasta dishes or, if you wanted something light, they have Buddha Bowls, wraps, and sandwiches. I went with a Buddha Bowl but, after major food envy of my friends' pasta dishes, I will be going back for that pasta and garlic bread!!

Based on publicity, I was really hyped to try this place. The Disco fries have gotten a lot of attention. As a foodie, when I hear good things about a new place, I'm usually keen to try it. This place has taken me surprisingly long to get to. If I'm honest, I'm disappointed. It's not that it wasn't good, but taste and service fell FAR short of the hype. As far as Wichita goes, the flavors are certainly above the rest of your 'fast casual' scene, but price-wise, not so much. Meaning in the value column, they wind up ahead of most, but still not above. Let's call it a B+.

The food was well made, the waitress was readily available and helpful with answers and suggestions as to what to order. The food came quickly and had an amazing taste(smokehouse BBQ Burger) that made it feel like you could not get enough. The fries did feel a little light for an order would be the only downside of the main course. The desert(red velvet) felt moist and had a strong taste to it that melts in your mouth. The after dinner drink we were recommended (chocolate cherry cold brew) had a sort of mudslide taste with a chocolate milk consistancy to it. The atmosphere here was calm and relaxing, great for a date or just a little splurge for a day.

Server was great but the food fell short. I had the fried chicken BTL which was fried to the point of being hard. Kudos to the nitrate free bacon that was also hard. Sandwich was on the dry side. App was fried veggies, green beans - very good, zucchini- very good & cauliflower which was the smallest pieces I have ever seen & I fry it at home. Sauces were great. The sweet potato cheesecake was very good but at $8 it should be. My friends has chicken & waffle - very good, other friend has shrimp pasta - bland. So it was okay but I would only return for the chesecake. App, sandwich & dessert with water came to $32 which is a little on the high side to me. Oh and my fries were hot and limp, big fail. Please don't let me discourage you from going, everyone has an off night.

We had 2 kids with us, & they gave them crayons & coloring books. No kids menu, but they were willing to make/substitute stuff for our kids. The drinks were tasty too. The kitchen has been through much and more since their grand opening and all the hard knocks have made them better. The service and reliability of the staff and the presentation of the foods is enticing to say the least. The precision and expertise of the desserts on display is absolutely artful. The portions are substantial and the quality of the ingredients shines through in every dish. Staff are accommodating and very informative. Unfortunately the delight in the friendly atmosphere, expert menu options and unique location is somewhat marred by the smell. It may be due to the recent heavy rains but the scent of the restaurant is the first thing I noticed walking in and it was barely tolerable as I could taste it with every bite and sip of my meal. If it weren't for that issue The Kitchen would be 5 star on all accounts!

Not bad. I had the quinoa salad, and my friend had a sandwich. The sandwich was unremarkable. Nothing bad about it, but I probably could have made it at home. The salad was very good, but not spectacular. I suppose I'll have to go there again and try a less simple dish, but it was a bit pricey for the plain food. I'd rather go to a Thai restaurant any day. The decor is lovely and the service was great, but I think the food is a bit overhyped. Wouldn't be the first time in Wichita a place has made it on atmosphere, not food.

Decided to try it out before going to a hockey game. Decor was clean and desserts looked good in the case. Our drinks were to be desired. My dirty martini was half full with old olives and the curdled olive fat from the jar, my fiance's drink was so-so. The food was ok, could have had the same chicken sandwich from a fast food place and gotten the same result, service was non-existent and long wait time for food in a non-busy restaurant.

From its subtle sweetness to silky cream cheese frosting, it altogether made me close my eyes and say Yummm!! The variety is lovely and the healthy options excellent! They have vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Altogether it was a delightful experience and we agreed it is a place we would come back to.

Went b4 Music Theatre on a Saturday night around 6. They were very busy so we sat on the patio even though it was HOT. Our waitress was very sweet but seemed totally overwhelmed. I had a small southwestern quinoa salad with chicken...I really liked it. My friend had a small spinich salad & the Disco fries. She had eaten them b4 & loved them. Unfortunately she was dissatisfied this time. She said they made them gluten free b4...this time it meant they came with no gravy😒...she also noticed another gluten free item had been removed. The food was mostly good. The turkey apple brie sandwich was a little dry though. Would have given 4 stars for food alone. Main issue was with the server, but it's hard to fault the restaurant for that. Mojito ordered was awful. It looked like a margarita and had no mint in it and was not bubbly at all. When brought to the servers attention she just said that she added mint to it... Wife backed down and ate it. My son ordered the chicken and waffle dinner, which said it came with "hot" honey. My wife asked if it was temp warm or spicy warm. We were told temp, but that was incorrect. I asked for a new waffle for my son, since this was what he wanted most, also asked for syrup instead of honey if avail. She brought syrup shortly after, but never the waffle. I brought it up, she did not remember the conversation I guess. She did respond when I asked though... Very frustrating. Few other issues, but they were minor. Hopefully she is learning... Drink and meal for son totaled over $20 by themselves.

I ordered The Cuban and was not impressed at all. The pork was dry and flavorless, the ham was what seemed to be non-existent as it was a very small amount of very thin sliced ham and the "Swiss" cheese was sweaty and not the right texture. The pickles were right I guess though and there was in fact mustard on the bread. I feel like it was assembled out of sub-par ingredients. I may not be a chef like the owner is, but I have had plenty of sandwiches. And if heroes has a better Cuban style sandwich than you, it's probably time to reevaluate the ingredients. There is definitely room for improvement.

The food was pretty good, but my biggest complaint is how you pay your bill. I was with a large party. You don't receive a paper copy, but instead the waitress has to go to each individual with her little computer and she just tells you how much your total is. Nothing comes up on her computer to show you what you are being charged for, except the request if you want to tip. Fortunately I heard someone say the tip was already included, but I'm sure some didn't know this because you didn't see anything. Most people should know this, but the way it appeared on her tablet it still asked how much you wanted to tip, or no tip. Then I selected to have my receipt emailed to me. Today when I looked at the receipt, I noticed it had everyone's charges on it, but it was divided by person. I don't care to see everyone's charges on my receipt. In addition it was very time consuming for the waitress to go to each person, especially if someone needed change or wanted a paper receipt.

Great historical location. Nice menu of sandwiches, paninis, salads, pasta, some chicken dishes so whatever you're in the mood for. The best thing on the menu, I think, is the strawberry cake. Or there are seasonal variations of this cake, like Carmel apple. It's a cross between a regular cake and an angel food cake, sliced diagonally, with a huge later of strawberries and real whipped cream, then topped with a whipped cream frosting. It is incredible. Servers are pleasant, food is good. We had the special turkey, apple,brie Panini. Served with fries, and soup. The French onion is yummy. I had a cauliflower, Thai coconut soup that was ok. You'd do well to go to this restaurant now before it gets really crowded when Cargill fills up the building to the east of there.
