I am not exaggerating when I say this is the best burger I've had in a long time! I got the Capital burger with caramelized onions and gruyere. Also came with fries which were hot and crispy. I tried the homemade pickles, holy cow they were delicious!!! Ordered The Pursuit of Happiness which was made with Tito's, strawberry, pineapple, lemon and basil. I normally only have one cocktail, this was so good and went down so smooth, I had two. 😁 I went on Monday afternoon 12/19 and sat at the bar. Unfortunately I didn't catch the name of the bartender, but he was so friendly and is a master behind the bar. Everyone on staff that afternoon was super nice and checked on me to see how everything was. Great vibe, clean and modern interior, and they played fantastic music. A little pricey, but this is DC and you get what you pay for. This meal was definitely worth it! The Capital Burger is a must try place for burgers and drinks!

Had an excellent experience. Hostess was friendly and realized I was a party of 1 and let me know the bar was open seating. Bartender was amazing, welcomed me to the establishment and went over the menu with me as I was a first time patron. I ordered the capitol burger with truffle fries. I don't eat pickles, but their house pickles are amazing. A little on the pricey side but well worth it. If you are looking for a gourmet burger with a fun/upscale atmosphere this is your spot. They also have a wide selection of whiskeys, bourbons and scotchs. Would highly recommend.

My sister took me out for my birthday. She said I can choose any restaurant in DC. This was the first time I went to Capital Burger. The first thing I will say was that the service was amazing. Our waiter I did a great job making us feel at home, special and at ease. There menu is pretty straight forward. I think the best think on the menu for the starter side were the Brussels Sprouts (also has bacon). They even gave me a milkshake for my birthday. We spent sound 1.5 hours hanging out there which was awesome. Highly recommend.

This place is out of this world!! 🍔 heaven. My favorite is the roasted wild mushroom and Swiss burger ( add bacon) always with Gouda fries. The food is fresh and decadent. Another favorite is the Pan-Fried Calamari for an appetizer. Calamari is one of my favorite dishes and the Calamari at Capital burgers is easily one of my favorites. Service is quick and friendly. Drinks were just okay but I've only had a few options, I'll definitely give it another try because so far all the food I've tasted as been great.

We stopped in The Capital Burger after the car show in the DC convention center located across the street. We met the hostess and was given a five minute wait time for lunch. The wait time was accurate and we were seated and greeted by the server. The server will bring you bottles of water and a jar of pickles while you are deciding on what to order. I ordered the hot pretzel and a bacon cheeseburger. The pretzel is very large similar style to what you would get in Germany and the cheese sauce it comes with was delicious, well worth the $14. The bacon cheeseburger was very good, one of the best burgers I've eaten. We also had the truffle fries which I thought were delicious, but the girls did not like them. My daughter had a chicken sandwich which she enjoyed. You can get regular fries or gouda cheese fries with your meal as well. There are many other options on the menu that includes snacks, salads, sandwiches, burgers, desserts, and a unique drink menu. We didn't have any alcoholic beverages, but would like to come back to try a spiked shake. If you are in downtown DC and are looking for location with a delicious burger with a classy atmosphere, The Capital Burger won't disappoint.

Great atmosphere but pricey food. Burgers were soso, appetizers were more delicious. My server wasn't attentive either. I'm only giving it 4 stars because of the atmosphere at the restaurant. They have variety of drinks menu. Other than burger, its only salad and other sandwiches. Pickles were delicious by the way.

Really good burger ! I’m not usually a fan of burger but these gourmet burgers are just to die for !! The patty is so juicy and so big ! And the truffle Parmesan fries are just incredible (and yes you can actually taste the truffle) ! Their milkshakes are delicious too and can’t wait to go back and try their boozy shakes. Our waiter was amazing too. He was super nice and super helpful. He helped us choose the best options for our burgers and he made our time quiet enjoyable !

I had a wonderful experience over there! The burger that I had was amazing, the hostess was very friendly and helpful , and overall the vibes of the place were all quite pleasant. The menu features a large variety of burgers for different dietary preferences including vegan burger and Gluten free options. Personally I went there to try out the burger and I wasn't disappointed! It was cooked exactly the way I wanted it to be!

I have tried the smoked gouda cheese fries which were decent. The veggie burger was also decent. The spiked milkshakes...YES, I'll have another. Great flavor and definitely not something you can order from most spots. My friends loved their burgers, they devoured, so it is safe to say the quality of the beef is good. I would recommend taking a burger lover here to see how it matches up for their liking. The bar is packed with a large variety of spirits running up the entire back wall of the bar. I'm sure you can easily please most parties and even that one friend in the group that only drinks "that one" spirit most bars might not carry. Capital Burger is worth a try.

The Capital Burger was a great experience. The clam chowder was excellent and the brussel sprouts were delicious. I did not get any bacon taste from the bacon old fashioned, which was disappointing. The service here is excellent. It took about 30 minutes to seat us, but once we were seated, our server was quite attentive and the food came out relatively quickly. I would eat at The Capital Burger again.

If you love burgers you should go! I googled “Best Burgers in DC”, this showed up on the list and it seriously lived up to expectations. The burger was honestly one of the best I have tried. And as a big fan of burgers that is not an easy thing! Ordered it with truffle fries and a draft beer recommended by the server, which served me very nicely. The check total was around $30 with tax per person.

This is an awesome place just located up the street from Capital Arena and Chinatown. The burgers are amazing. A great place for both non-alcoholic and other drinks. I had the homemade Grapfruit Soda. I loved the atmosphere. I would say a great place for older kids as it draws a more older crowd.

One word: Excellent! The staff are super attentive and kind. They immediately offered me water and in a chilled glass. The capitol burger itself was fantastic and the shallot aioli is perfect. I will definitely revisit should I find myself in DC again. Thanks for a great dinner!

I was craving a delicious burger but didn’t want to walk far since it was freezing. This place was phenomenal! First of all, they bring you their special pickles to munch on while you wait (how awesome and unique is that) and then —- the most amazingly juicy, perfectly cooked burger arrives! It was so delicious that I forgot to take a photo but mine had bacon and Gorgonzola cheese, lettuce and tomato. My husband loved his as well. Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. We did have to show ID and proof of vaccination to dine in. SO WORTH IT!!!

I visited with my nephew last week after the car show. This restaurant is literally right across the street from the DC convention center. It was pretty packed when we arrived but we were still seated right away. There’s not much social distancing going on inside as the tables are right near each other, but they do check your vaccination card for those (12?) and over. All the staff were hospitable! This place definitely has good vibes! My burger and drink were amazing, I have no complaints! My 6 year old nephew did lol. He ordered a kids burger and it’s literally a slider. Not 2, not 3, 1 burger slider and some fruit or fries. I ended up taking him somewhere else afterwards as he was still hungry. Other than that, I have no complaints. The food is great, the facility is clean, and the staff were great! I’d definitely return!

Enjoyed a really great lunch here today. I started with their clam chowder which was really well balanced in terms of flavors and not too heavy. I then had a kale salad with a light vinaigrette to cleanse my palette (and guilt) for what was to come next. The Capital burger, the restaurant's eponymous featured dish, is superb. It's a French onion-style take on a classic burger: caramelized onions, Wisconsin Grand Cru Gruyère, and shallot aioli on an overly generous 8 oz patty. Last, I had to try a taste of one of their spiked shakes. I let it be the dealer's choice and they served me a delicious Irish whiskey shake, made with Jameson's, Kahlua, Bailey's, and Kona dust. It was definitely worth the try, quite heavenly but surprisingly not too sweet. Service was great, very polished and friendly. Decor was nice too. Their bathroom needs work though.. Definitely recommended, even if for the burger alone.

Hearty foods with decent, healthy-ish options. Don't bother with breakfast though, way over-priced for what you get. The burgers are priced for the area, not a bargain, but I care more for quality than "value". The burgers are juicy and messy, and that's what makes them delicious! A salad is a normal option to fries and a perfect compliment to the juicy burger - the avocado was a special request on my part, though I recommend you ask for it too. Waitstaff are eager and competent, if young and inexperienced. I'd give them 5 stars but for their breakfast.

Food was Superb!! Everything was tasand cooked to perfection. I ordered the Red Chili Glazed wings as an appetizer , and the Capital Burger. The wings were outstanding. Burger was juicy and savory. Every item arrived piping 🔥. The housemade pickles were delicious and added a nice flavor to the burger. Waitress was very nice and attentive.

We came at a very busy time. A car show was happening down the street so the place was busy and there was an event being held here too so it was packed. Our server was fantastic. We came in with two very tired toddlers and their food came out pretty quickly, ours we had to wait for and when it arrived my burger had a strand of hair in it. 🙄🤢 by this time, my kids were melting and I just ate the fries, paid the tab and left. 🫣

Super nice place. The burgers are really good. Everything looks and IS so tasty! The truffle blue cheese burger … a blast. And overall not super expensive compared to other places in DC. We went after basketball game on Saturday and it was not super busy. Staff friendly and available. I recommend for a good burger.

A bourbon spiked caramel ice cream shake to start things off with which was absolutely delicious!!! Grilled ribeye steak sandwich was great too, all though a little high priced in my opinion (28$). My wife's Capital Burger was delicious as well.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE & FOOD!! I’ll start off with the service. Our server, Michelle was AMAZING, like OVER THE TOP AWESOME! She was funny, super personable, and super attentive. We celebrated my birthday here and Michelle was the best server I’ve probably ever had anywhere. Onto the food. Idek where to start. “Bacon & Eggs” deviled eggs app, sweet chili wings, and the Capital Burger. Everything was good. The candied bacon was the perfect touch to go with those eggs. The wings were tasty, our burgers were cooked to absolute PER-FEC-TION!! It’s definitely the best burger I’ve ever had. This place was just all around awesome. Drinks were great, too! And those house-made pickles - don’t even get me started!!! You have to try this place!! And idk what Michelle is making, but whatever it is, she needs a raise because she’s that DAMN good!! Finished the night off with a Maker’s Mark milkshake and I need to get the recipe and make these at home!!😂

Conveniently located right across from the Walter E. Washington convention center. We went on a Friday around lunch time and there wasn't much of a wait. The burgers were delicious and they offer homade pickels on the side. I recommend the blue cheese and truffle cheeseburger with added hickory smoked bacon.

Sat at the bar on random Monday for lunch. Burger was best I’ve had in long time. Beer was cold and on tap. My bartender and I had a great conversation too. Would recommend if you’re in convention center area and craving a nice burger with cold beer, this is the spot.

This is my 2nd favorite restaurant to go in Washington DC. I always come here for their "Capital burger" and Deviled egg appetizers. The burger doesn't come with an egg so I ask them to put it on top with an extra fee. The food is great and the servers/waiters are nice with great customer service.

Can we please talk about bean burgers and how they are so often, hit or miss? They either are mushy or falling apart 🤦🏾‍♀️ Not here though. This one is mixed with mushrooms (I believe) and holds its own. By far, 1 of the best I've had and I've only had 3 great bean burgers in my life. The Caesar salad was meh, I really don't know why, but the burger and the staff's knowledge of the menu made up for that.

To be a burger place the hamburger was average, well cooked but a kind of salty. I ordered the blue cheese and black truffle but the truffle was not there at all. Smoke cheese fries was good and cheesy but the cheese was not smoked. I would not give a second chance to this place.

After looking up multiple avenues for the best burger choice in D.C., I chose Capital Burger for the win. Not a local, but Ashley behind the bar was amazing! Burger did not disappoint and my wife actually liked the chicken sandwich even more. Go for happy hour and get the sliders.... You can't go wrong!!!!!!

Rainy cold October afternoon. We smelled the grill down on Mass avenue. Led us right to Capital Burger. Super friendly. Our server was Jasmine. Served us sweet pickles and creamy Guinness. After seeing that this place was at or near the top of several "best burger in DC" lists, I had to come and give it a try for myself. I kept my order simple and went with the Capital Burger and fries and I wasn't disappointed. In a town that has a lot of really good burgers, this one is very close to the best I've had here and I've had a few. I asked for medium rare and I'd say that was exactly what I got. Nicely cooked, very juicy and with great flavor. They keep it simple and it works. The fries were good as well It looks like they have a decent menu butt I'd be lying if I said that I paid much attention beyond the namesake sandwich. The staff I dealt with was great and the atmosphere was good. Overall I'd say that if I lived here, I'd be coming back. 👍

Nice atmosphere, friendly service, and a good burger, with minor hiccups that drop me to 4 stars. I ordered the Capital Burger, it's pretty simple, burger, gruyere cheese, caramelized onion (French onion soup style) and shallot aioli. So simple, sounds perfect, it nearly was. The burger was beautifully cooked, warm, soft and juicy with a kick of salt. The bun was fresh and soft, but resistant enough to contribute to the feel of the bite. The cheese was melted, mild and stringy, and the onions were generous and caramelized in the French onion soup style, as advertised. There's no crunch in this burger, but it felt designed to be that way. Yet, as much as I liked all of the components, it was missing something. Acid. It's was missing acid. The aioli was not strong enough to contribute to the whole. But you know what? That's what ketchup is for, and it was right on the table. If the only issue was a too light aioli, I would have kept to 5 stars, but I was disappointed in the happy hour which brought me down a bit. I asked the waitress what the happy hour beer offerings were and she told me about two beers that counted. Both were wheat. Only two beers qualify and BOTH are wheat? Sounds less like happy hour and more like a sale on unpopular overstock beer. Oh well.

Finally tried this famous DC burger! It’s on the pricy end, but it’s worth visiting while you’re in DC. What I liked was 1) the salad that was served as a side dish was fresh and filling, and 2) PICKLES, PICKLES, PICKLES. You’ll be served a whole mini jar of fresh heavenly pickles. I was feeling guilty eating a burger for lunch because of health reasons, but actually felt healthier afterwards.

Cute restaurant with nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Though I found it to be pricy for the type of food they have available. Total for a table of 4 (2 children) was $101 plus tip. Not many Capital Burgers in the U.S so I took advantage of my trip to DC to visit. I guess I can say I got it out of my system.

I ordered lobster roll with a lobster bisque side and another separate lobster bisque. I was satisfied with the quality of the lobster roll, but not so much with the bisque. I found hair in one of the soups and lobster shell in the other. Not very pleasant.

We came in right after the lunch rush so I'll forgive the slight smell of old mop water. It was so faint that the complimentary pickles completely covered it up and were a tasty treat while perusing the menu. The deviled eggs with candied bacon were devishly divine, and paired beautifully with the "Pursuit of Happiness" cocktail that our server recommended and I also now recommend. 🍸My husband had the capital burger, which was basically what you'd get if French onion soup and a cheeseburger had a delicious baby. I had a mushroom and Swiss burger whose name escapes me because I forgot what I ordered after I tasted one of the Parmesan truffle fries... hand to God for a second I forgot my own name, that's how good they were. I have eaten fries in almost every state in America (3 to go) and these fries are the BEST FRIES I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!

Absolutely delicious! Came to D.C. for AUSA conference in the Convention Center and The Capital Burger is across the street. The environment (we sat outside) was lively and pleasant. The food was just delicious and their mint lemonade and burgers definitely a MUST HAVE! Seth was hands down “the best in the apron” as he will tell you lol. Personable and friendly top notch service and attention. Interesting thing, If you are familiar with The Capital Grill restaurants across the country, you will immediately make the relation starting with the font on the name. Prices are not outrageous for the quality of food, amount served and service you will get. Specially when compared with other places around the area. We are planning on going back before we leave town! 100% recommend!

On both visits, the service was average (e.g., annoyed our order was wrong; didn't receive complementary pickles). I understand staff is likely overworked from pandemic. Note, the happy hour menu days $5 tap beers, but it only applies to one or two beers.

What a great spot! I’m a fan! We will definitely be back!!! Great drinks! I loved the pursuit of happiness - like a tasty strawberry lemonade! The Stoli Dolie was also super smooth. The burgers are incredibly juicy! Like I said we will definitely be back! Our server also was so attentive and thoughtful. I accidentally spilled my drink and he immediately brought me a new one and was so nice. Thank you Seth! 12/22/22 Came through again and this time got the pretzel as an appetizer OMGGGG YUMMMMMM! And the chocolate mousse for dessert!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The old fashion was SUPER fancy with bacon and a cute little clothes pin, and the house made grapefruit soda was DELICIOUS. Love this spot! And, great service as always.

The burger was excellent! Well seasoned and I asked for medium and it was perfectly seasoned. The service was great. The roasted Brussels sprouts with bacon and vinegar / sweet glaze were amazing too. We would definitely eat here again.

It’s a nice place with good burgers and excellent fries. Nice atmosphere, and attentive service. The quality, however, is not on par with the price tag. They are good at best, nothing extraordinary, but at least the ingredients are fresh and the cheese is tasty. My issue is that it’s not really worth 17 per hamburger. There were a couple of drinks (I ordered the Aperol and for some reason it was half a glass?) but not too many. Also, they switched our hamburgers and we realized halfway that we were eating the wrong ones. The service was good, and we were rapidly seated.

Am glad we decided to check this place out because it turned out to be the best culinary experience we've had while visiting DC on our Winter vacation. The food was exceptionally good as promised, the atmosphere was family friendly, and the crew was collectively pleasant, helpful, and friendly. Kudos to Malaysia and the rest of the crew! I highly recommend their Chicken Caesar Salad, Crispy Chicken Burger, and Chocolate Dessert. Make sure to try their homemade pickles served on each table...to die for

I had the Capital Burger medium rare with the truffle fries. It was perfect! The best burger I have ever had. Cooked exactly how I asked for it. The carmelized onions were spot on. I chose this place for lunch just by walking by and couldn't have been happier with my decision. Please put this restaurant in more locations.

We were in DC for a volleyball tournament and our games ended at 9pm but had to get food for team first. I went to capital grille at 9:50pm on a Sunday night and they were all so helpful and took my to go order. It was ready in 15 min with a mixed green side salad. The classic cheeseburger and salad were so good. It didn’t even need ketchup. If in the area, give it a try. Wish we had time to try boozy shake.

My family and I visited over the weekend and we walked by here one day and said we need to try it so we did and I will tell you I was impressed. I had the capital burger and it was delicious, my husband, son and daughter had burgers as well and said they were delicious and made perfectly, my niece and son had the chicken tenders and goodness they were delicious as well. Hands down, the best burger I've ever had! We were only in town for 4 days and I was here twice. Service was great, burger was truly delish, quality meat and ingredients, kind of a fun unique thing to have a tiny jar of homemade pickles while you wait on your food. You can't go wrong with their signature burger and parm/truffle fries. If I'm ever back in that area I will be going to this place again. It was excellent!

Following a recommendation, I dined at The Capital Burger. From the moment I opened the door and was greeted with big smile by the receptionist to the barman who brought me the check, I felt welcome and appreciated. The place was packed and lively yet somehow it wasn’t noisy. I ordered a beer (served at optimum temperature) and a blue cheese and truffle burger (cooked as requested, served with outstanding fries). In sum, a VERY pleasant experience. I’ll definitely be back to try the other burgers.

Let me start by saying this is one of the best burgers I've eaten in a restaurant in a while! The Steak frites, I thought were Poutine fries but surprise surprise! It's exactly what it says it is Steak and fries (frites in French). The steak was perfection, as the Capital Grille is known for that. The burger was nothing short of delicious either. Nothing was salty, and no taste over powered anything else. There was just the right amount of onions and aioli for me to be able to taste the lettuce and cheese. My mouth had no disappointments. The drinks were very good as well. Family friendly and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

After seeing reviews of this place we had to try it out. Parm truffle fries and brusselsprouts are amazing and 5 stars all the way on their own! But the burger was 4 stars at best....it was small (I've had many burgers in my day, and doubtful this one was 8oz like the menu claims), light on the bacon and other toppings too, so I was a bit disappointed here, especially when you consider the name of this establishment, the burgers should be 100% on point and the 5 star menu item. Our server was good, not great, and the value here is below average. The restaurant's decor it very cool!

I just want to start out by saying the did was excellent. Everyone in my party got a different burger of some sort and most of the comments were "this is the best burger I've had in a long time!". Food was excellent. The drinks are another story. I think this may have been because they just re-opened after COVID-19 closures but they were out of every beer we wanted to try. They didn't have ingredients for some cocktails we wanted. So, we ordered tequila shots. I'm positive those were watered down. We each had 3 of them and didn't feel anything...like not even a little...

We went here after a March. The server Larry wasn’t biased towards us which felt amazing. He knew the menu up and down. We got EVERYTHING he recommended. We got calamari (amazing), Lobster and crab cakes, and Lobster Bisque. For our entrees we got the capital burger and the Bacon cheeseburger. Everything was beyond amazing. I got the pursuit of happiness and my partner got beers from the local brewery. If it wasn’t for our servers suggestions we would have probably just got burgers and fries. The pickles they give are awesome. The service was amazing, you have to try it if you are in the area!!

Visited once, within the DMV. The place is overall nice, seemingly clean, and staff are friendly. The menu isn't huge and prices are on the high end. I certainly expected more burgers for a place with "burgers" in the name. There are some fun menu options like less traditional apps and spiked shakes. The burgers also have an option to have a gluten free bun. All fried items are fried in beef tallow however. There was a lot of noise however, people being loud in general despite not being extremely busy.

3.5 stars. We walked an hour to get here hoping to eat some delicious burgers. We were starving on a Saturday afternoon! Unfortunately, food was a bit of a disappointment. The bacon burger was luke warm and wasn’t that great. Chicken sandwich was good, but thought the sauce could be better. I did not like the fries. Brussel sprouts were rather sweet. Cocktails were good. Bartender was very professional. Unfortunately, I cannot fully recommend this place with confidence.

WOW! Delicious Burgers and great cocktails! You can also watch a game on one of their screens but make no mistake, it's all about the burgers! The 1/2 pound patties are high grade and a true luxury! Prices range from $15-$17 and it's worth it! They have indoor & outdoor seating. Oh and the desserts are just as good as the burgers so save room! Lastly, this place has something for everyone and if a burger doesn't move you, they have an awesome lobster roll!

Service, decor and food were amazing. The French onion soup burger was juicy and tasty, best I've ever had. The chicken sandwich was also a hit. The kids had a regular cheeseburger cooked medium and sadly that was the only item that missed the mark. They were both pretty dry and flavorless. Overall it was a great visit. The coconut cream pie in a jar was the perfect ending, not too sweet. Light and creamy!

Where do I begin? I was hesitant at first because I was intimidated by the high price point of The Capital Burger. Taking a chance, I took my family here while exploring downtown DC. This was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The staff was very family friendly the drinks 🍷were great. I can admit it may be a bit pricy but you definitely get what you pay for. The Capital Burger is one of the best burgers 🍔 I’ve ever had. If you’re ever in downtown DC please “treat yo self” and take the time to visit the Capital Burger. I know I will again.

Chicken wing appetizer is a solid choice to kick things off. Good burger. The meat was juicy and very tasteful considering I got my burger well done. The fries were meh but solid. Strawberry milkshake was a standout at least to me. Chunky bits of strawberries were found at the bottom only to end up being eaten.

Wow! Went there with my wife and were positively impressed on all fronts, eventually only but little bit pricey. As a good start they have gluten free buns, which is great for my wife as she’s celiac. She had a beef burger while I had a lobster and crab one. But very tasty, beef one also juicy, fries fantastic. Additionally lot of attention to ingredient and diet, with lot of healthy/healthier options, including home made sodas. If you are up to they offer tap water. Finally great environment and nice staff!

I loved Capital Burger! The restaurant has such a cool vibe! The burger choices and other menu items were a nice step up from your traditional burger and fries. I had the bacon cheeseburger. Which was delicious! They put a little bit of jam on the bun and it was the perfect sweet compliment to the savory burger and bacon. Just yum! The parmesan fries were excellent! As was the salted caramel milkshake. I also adored the pickles in the Mason jar they start you off with. Such a cute touch.

Capital Burger is not your typical burger joint, it's a nice mixture of fine dining and burger experience. They have an amazing selection of burgers including a lobster burger, fried chicken, prime rib, and more. The appetizers are a great size and the one I got "Kung Pao Brussel Sprouts" were made to perfection. The decor is a modern rustic combination they works very well. The interior had nice high ceilings and they have wonderful large windows to let in light. The place also touts a large bar stocked to the brim with options. They have some fantastic local cocktails and spiked shakes. Definitely a worth while stop if you want a good meal that's simple yet zesty.

I came by here twice in one day. I had the bacon cheese burger for lunch and then the chicken sandwiches for a late happy hour. It's easy to get to from the convention center. The burger I had, and I specialize in these fellas, was superb. It must have been seard on both sides and then cooked after that. The thing was perfectly flavored and juicy. The unfortunate down side was the price. It's about $18 and you get some fries. It's basic, but excellent. I'll go back to confirm this isn't an anomaly, because a great burger is tough to find, while a good burger is everywhere these days.

I asked them for a medium-well burger patty and that’s exactly what I received. They checked in on me, but not so often that it was obnoxious. Delicious food got the blue cheese burger and the truffle oil fries which our server was glad to replace instead of the normal fries amazing combination the appetaizer was the wings but it was sweet and spicy at the same time i dont like it sweet dint know that it would come like that. The steak sandwich could have been better it was not worth the price. Maybe a good plateing or less fat on the steak or a much more tender bread could have done it. Think of a movie with a solid script, high production value, good director, stellar supporting cast, but a downright bizarre performance from the lead role. That's the experience at Capital Burger. From the studios of lobbyist darling Capital Grill comes a more casual, relatable adventure. The set is still rife with masculine overtones, but is better lit for all audiences. The first scene is a little jar of tangy sweet homemade pickles which were perfect as a snack, and would go beautifully on a burger. The niche role of a boozy milkshake was played to T by a velvety mixture of vanilla, rum, whipped cream, and blueberries. This performance held its own with appetizer crab and lobster cakes. They burst onto the screen with no fluff, just fresh meat, lemon, tartar sauce and griddle marks. A bit overpriced for their role, but worth it. Finally was the big dramatic scene with the juicy lead role....and it was just... wrong. Yeah, wrong, out of place. Like Jack Sparrow playing Jack in Titanic. First off they actually got my burger wrong. I ordered the classic cheeseburger with Swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce and bacon. I got a Swiss cheese burger with no mayo or bacon, lettuce and tomato and a good 15 minutes after my appetizers had exited stage right. I'll chalk that open to opening weekend jitters. After the edits were made, the burger and fries were still weird. Not bad, but not right. The bun was gorgeous and eggy with enough presence to not melt into goo from the greasy burger. The burger itself was perfectly cooked and juicy (not greasy); obviously made from A-List cow parts. The cheese was...there. The bacon really ruined the scene though. The burger had a good beef flavor, but the unctiousness and salt was cut with a strong brown sugar maple sweetness. It was the bacon stealing the show! They candy their bacon. Which is lovely co-starring with some brunch classics, but really out of place on a marquee burger. The sidekick of fries also put in an odd performance. House cut and crispy in clean grease, when the plate came out I was struck by the wafting familiar tones of......Popeyes? Yeah the fries smelled like fast food chicken. This could be a plus for some people I guess? Maybe they use schmaltz in the fryer. Overall, the burger and fries didn't put in a bad performance, just a strange one. However when you are asking the price of admission at the box office that Cap Burger is (app, shake, burger almost topped $50) you better get an Oscar winner every time. Hopefully for the sequel, they'll blow up one of those lobster cakes to star in it's own sandwich! I'll pay $20 to see that every night. #MorskieEatsDC

Yum! The Capital Burger was perfectly cooked and tasted so good. Sat at the bar. Service was prompt. Would definitely go again for that burger. Restaurant is conveniently located near the convention center. When conferences are going on, it can get busy. Worth the wait.

This restaurant can only be described as higher scale American food. It wasn't my typical option, but they did their thing well. My friends made a reservation and they were very attentive and patient with us. Never felt rushed or abandoned. The food was good! For an $18 burger, it didn't blow my mind. But the drinks were excellent and there were more on the cocktail menu I would have liked to try. I would recommend for a cocktail party, but I didn't feel the need to explore the menu more. Many reviews indicate that prices are high. Perhaps a little more than you might pay elsewhere, but not by much. The chocolate mousse was delicious as you might expect, but the coconut cream pie was surprisingly amazing. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Will definitely come back when in town.

We were at the DC Motorcycle Show and wanted lunch. The Capital Burger is right on the corner the next block down. The place was packed and after eating the food I can see why. The classic burger was the best I've ever had and the hand cut fries were crispy and hot. We will definitely be back again. Topped the meal off with a Pilsner draft. Yum!

Honestly I don't know what I expected. Usually any swanky burger place I try is either just ok, or overpriced and overhyped ( looking at you Burger Joint ). On to The Capital Burger. I got the capital burger. Large patty, full of flavor, juicy, cooked to order and not over seasoned. Sauteed onions were great, chalot aoli was unique and not overpowering. Honestly it exceeded expectations. Service was fine for how busy it was. ( There was some sort of convention in town and the place had a 45 min wait ) Definitely go here for a burger, it's $17 and one of the few "fancy" burger places I'd recommend.

I purchased their signature burger, called "The Capital Burger" on the menu, in a curbside order, and wow... I have never had a tastier burger in my life. I got Lobster Bisque as the side, and it did not disappoint either. The meal was just a little bit pricey for a burger meal ($22 + tax and tip) but still well worth it. I will definitely be eating there again and bringing family and friends with me!

Pretty good place to eat from. I didn't really get a close look into what's really good there, but there was an anime event going on the day i went and it was packed. I had ordered a certain burger with mushrooms in them and it was a good size, filling and satisfying. The server who took my order was very kind, down-to-earth, and helpful. If there are bad reviews about this place, then those people don't have good taste. Just saying. Their prices are borderline understandable, but definitely give them a try nonetheless!

We decided to try this spot when we walked by on our way to another favorite restaurant, and we're so glad we did! We walked in and saw the newspaper reviews on the wall that this is a burger off-shoot of a highly rated steakhouse - off to a great start. We got the wild mushroom and blue cheese burger and the house burger with WI gruyere and split them - sooooo delicious! As someone that is a self-described meat connoisseur, this was one of the best burgers I've had, with a very fresh and perfectly cooked medium rare patty. Fries were very good, plus homeade pickles were divine. Atmosphere was comfortable and easy-going and our waitress was great. New favorite!

I subscribe to Capital Grille's e-newsletters and have been wanting to dine at Capital Burger for quite some time after receiving weekly emails about the burgers of their flagship burger joint in DC. I finally got around to having my first visit since I needed to be at an afternoon business function. I ordered their mushroom and swiss burger and I could not believe the experience - it tasted so damn good & caused my eyes to roll backwards! Their pickles in jar sealed the deal for me as they were quite delicious. Apparently, I learned from their GM, Matt, that the way that the beef patty is made by their butcher up in NY is done specifically for Capital Burger and not to any of their other restaurant group customers, and I noticed it being a foodie. Speaking of the GM, Matt is also their head bartender and a great cocktail mixer - he made one of the best old fashions I have ever had! Plus, their wines by the glass starts around $13 and can go up to mid-$20's if you want nicer quality - for a good California cab, this price range is quite reasonable. While I saw that some reviewers say $17 is a bit much for a burger, it is well worth it for me with the amazing quality of their beef patty. Given that I do not come into the city too often, this is a trip that is well worth the drive/metro ride and I will be returning for sure, especially with the five-star experience that Matt provides. Highly recommend this place for anyone needing a good burger fix!

Working in DC so went to Capital Burger for dinner. I sat at the bar and had a reasonably good experience. Service was a bit slow. I ordered a “home spun” shake to go to enjoy while I walked back to my hotel. The shake was 2/3 whipped cream. It was good but not much of it. It’s not a good way for a restaurant to leave the customer with a bad experience. Shame on you.

To the chef or chefs who prepared my bacon cheeseburger tonight: Thank you very much for your attention to detail! I really appreciated that they took the time to toast the buns, put both slices of bacon next to each other so there was some in every bite, the meat was nicely seared on the outside and perfectly pink in the middle and the cheese was evenly poured over the fries. The mint lemonade was also amazing! Both waiters were really nice as well! Can abolutely recommend this place and it is well worth the price tag.

If there was a worry that this place, open 4 months, was still wearing training wheels, my visit replaced any concern with a happy food coma. This is such a great place to come eat by your self at the bar, but the seating has a great combo of booths, high tables, and at least 40 bar seats spread out to the windows and around the bar. Bobby took great care of me, but I was impressed by the seamless handovers between staff. This is a place ready to provide consistently great quality of food and service as it scales in popularity. Pricy? Not for someone used to NYC/LA prices. But I’m also used to the high quality of those competitive burger markets...I only hope the Capitol Grill is experimenting with this high quality yet causal (and in my biased opinion, great value) burger joints.

Ordered the Stolli Doli in the alcoholic shake menu. Was presented with a martini. Apparently there is the house Stolli Doli but the barkeep neglected to confirm which I would like. The place was busy, and she gave us attitude on just wanting the correct item. She then never came back to get our food order, a different server came, and by that point we just asked for the check and left. This place looked amazing, but I'll need to try it again later when the crew is more settled.

This is a great place for anyone looking for reasonably priced good quality burgers, salads, and other items (don't let the name fool you) and a well stocked bar. You can have a kale salad as your side to a burger so you don't feel guilty about calories and you'll actually enjoy kale because the dressing is mint flavored. Our waitress was awesome, service was pretty quick and there was no wait for people without reservations on a Sunday evening. It's a relaxed atmosphere and clean premises, tables are spread out enough to feel comfortable taking off your mask.

There are so many good restaurants in the area, so it should be revealing that we returned the next night to Capital Burger for a second fantastic burger. We love a good burger every once in a while. I visited on a Thursday night at 7. I was a a single but seated quickly. Good location and nice setting inside. Maybe this is why the Google rating is 4.5. Place was busy. Staff was very nice however, burger was ok and appeared to be a preformed patty. I asked for medium rare and it was cooked correctly. Just not exciting. They had 4 draft beers on the menu. Homemade pickles were a nice touch but again not a wow. I had the deviled egg app which were very bland. Candied bacon was good but served unexpectedly cold. It took more than 30 mins from the time I finished the app to get my one burger. Fries were ok but not hot. Anyway, nothing bad about it but not a 4.5 for a 16$ burger.

I love burger bars but this was not good! They gave me cold-lukewarm fries which they tried to say had just come out, no ma’am they did not. I sent them back and the new order was fresh and hot. The Brussels sprouts are good. Had a really yummy flavor but the bacon was big chunks, not really what I would expect. I had a burger and two chicken sliders from the HH menu, the chicken was ok, nothing great but ok, and the burger was just ok. Nothing outstanding about this place. I think people go there for the drinks, but I don’t drink alcohol so I can’t comment on this personally. I can say the other people there seemed to be happy with their bar beverages. The bar servers are friendly enough, but the food is just mediocre. I was disappointed because I really wanted to love this place.

The food is great. I love the glazed wings. They give you pickles to start out instead of bread which is perfect cause it’s a burger place. The menu is limited though so It’s easy to get a bit tired of it, that’s why it get 4 stars instead of 5. You can get fries or a salad as your side. My waitress, (I think her name was Victoria) was amazing and has been every time I’ve been there. She does her job 1000% well, you might think she never has a bad day.

The Capital Burger is the best butger I have had, hands down. It is soooo juicy and flavorful. It's like a mixture of the best steaks ground into a patty. I had leftovers once and heated it the next day and it was still juicy. I've taken and/or recommend this place and they all attest to the deliciousness of the burger. The shakes are hit or miss and does not have much alcohol, so don't expect a buzz. The smoked bacon bourbon drink is smooth and delish, I had two but no buzz so not sure quality of brand I was actually giving or amount. The fries are fresh and hot. The desserts are fantastic, either flavor is good is yummy. I am giving four stars because I ordered 3 take-home burgers at medium rare, so it's still juicy when I heat it up, but it wasn't juicy and I didn't need to heat it up. It was Christmas Eve so maybe it was too much to keep up with quality. The presentation was off putting as well. My burger was smashed in containers, while the others had a dome top protecting theirs. I've been here plenty times so they're entitled to one mistake, although I doubt I will order takeout again. ... Anyway, this is the real Goodburger!

If I could rate this restaurant and experience 10 stars I would!! from the first moment of opening the door, Kelvin, who by the way is a Rockstar asset !!. That gentleman, had the best customer service and was running the seating, and phones, and rhythm like a seasoned pro! Great first impression, great personality, needs a HUGE raise! Kelvin sat us promptly, grabbed a booster for my child and crayons, seamlessly. As we were seated, we were greeted by another, superb employee. Stanley!! what a guy, funny, very very knowledgeable, of the menu /drink pairing, and suggestions, lots of laughter, and such a standard for excellence in serving and customer service. He never missed a beat suggested the Signature burger, and Blue Cheese burger which my daughter LOVED!!! The Capital Burger was by FAR the BEST burger My husband and I have ever had!!! You guys have found the secret of excellence in ALL categories! Stanley and Melvin really made our experience top notch. As I looked around and also observed the other staff... what jewels. You guys have done a great job across the board! The presentation of the food on the plate was beautiful! All of you knocked it out of the park! When my wife and I arrived the hostess looked towards a packed bar and told us to see if we could find a seat and if not, come back and she would seat us. When we stood there confused because there wasn't a seat to be had, she eventually walked us over to a table. Definitely succeeded in filling my craving of wanting a really good burger. Cool, easy vibe atmosphere, with high tables booths and a lot bar seating. The menu has a few other options, but the real attraction is of course the burger selection. You can of course make your own, but their specialties are pretty great. I went with the bacon, mushroom and blu. The burger is cooked to you're liking (mostly medium), large portion, toasted bun, and plenty of fixings. Also got the truffle fries which were delicious. Just as an add on, we got a chocolate shake and that was very very good, rich but not too much. Great service at the bar and good attitude to compliment it. Would 100% return.

The food was pretty good, menu options are limited, but it was all good. Instead of bringing out bread like most places, they put out a cup of pickle slices! Sounds odd but they were really good! Everyone enjoyed them, even my 2 sons that don't like pickles. The calamari appetizer was very good. No one had a burger so can't speak on them, but with everything else being the way it was, I imagine the burgers would be very good too.

Came to visit sis in DC area with the kids, my kids are very very picky eaters, was looking for a place in between adults and kids and found that perfect place. One of the best burger places I had after Matchbox. My sister live there over four years, it’s been two years and she still talk about it 😂 love this place the food and the service are superb I still remember every bite of the burger like it was yesterday delicious!! We got our monies worth out of the burger but for the milkshake I cant say the same. We went after the car show and had eggs and bacon just for the candied bacon which had just the right amount of sweet and paired perfectly with each bite of the deviled egg I took. I wish it was pieces chipped on top of the eggs but no real complaints. My dinner was great. my seafood burger was especially good and unique. however the milkshake that I thought was gonna be well worth the money was not. it was a small cup that didn't not taste like a salted caramel milk shake. I got more talk than anything, very like liquor and only small portion. I might be comparing it in my head to another one I have had at a diner in Bethesda but to me it was lackluster and the other guests at the table shared my sentiments. over all positive experience and if you'd like a good place for well crafted burgers try it out.

The Capital Burger in Washington, DC is the place to get a great delicious mouth-watering cooked to perfection Burger. We were visiting DC and felt the cravings for eating a burger and boy we came to the right place! Their menu offers other options as well (see pic). To start they give you delicious sweet pickles in a little jar. Really loved them! We ordered from their signature menu burgers "The Capital Burger," which is a 8 ozs. of their proprietary beef blend cooked to perfection! It has French-onion styled caramelized Onions, Winconsin Grand Cru Gruyère and Shallot Aioli. I chose my burger to be accompanied by Hand Cut French Fries, which were perfectly cooked. We also tried the lemonade and their hand-spun chocolate milk shakes which is beyond Yummy and having it feels almost sinful. In addition to the amazing food their friendly staff (including our waiter Jimmy) and a pleasant atmosphere make the whole experience delightful. Great place to visit if your are in the Washington DC area!

Such a classy burger joint! And the wait staff is both friendly and professional. Top that off with amazing chow and you got the Trifecta Perfecta! This is a burger/sandwich focused extension of The Capital Grill. If you like the original, the food and atmosphere here are just as good. Definitely come for the burgers, but if you are not a burger fan there are still plenty of good options for you as well. The burgers are prepared exceptionally well. They use plenty of seasoning, and could even be a bit on the salty side, but they do a great job of cooking each patty to order. The patties are thick and large, tucked inside a soft seeded bun. They use plenty of cheese, and the flavors of the sauces used for the accompaniments give each burger a unique flavor. If you aren't in to beefy burgers, I recommend the Fried Chicken Sandwich. It comes with a huge fried chicken breast, almost dwarfing the bun. The breading is excellent. Paired with their own signature pickles, this sandwich is sure to please. Service here is top notch. The menu isn't large, but the staff knows it well and is always ready with a recommendation. Great spot for lunch or dinner in downtown DC. I recommend giving it a try. Even if you aren't in the area, if you like burgers it is worth the effort to get there and give them a try.

What an excellent burger! Had the deviled eggs with candied bacon. Very good flavor but the filling was a little thinner than what I like. The burger however was done to perfection (medium rare) and was accompanied by beef fat fries. The cocktail choices were great and made very well.

Ordered the capital burger and it was so good! The onions are caramelized very well and the food is not heavy or too salty. The food complimented itself very well. While the price might seem a little high, you get fries and a very big size patty. The fries are not over saturated in the oil and were good to the point that I didn't want to mask it with ketchup. The staff are very friendly and not too serious. The only drawback for me was that the bathroom sink was extremely hot. The water was steaming and I burned my hands :(.

Capital Burger is one of our favorite DC restaurants. Food is incredible as is the service. The staff recognize us when we go and it feels so great to enjoy a meal on 7th Street in Capital Hill. With all that is going on in our country-- I am in awe of the managers. They are taking their service of providing quality meals with the utmost professionalism. Today Matt gave over the top stellar customer service to ensure we got a meal for someone working hard in DC. Compliments to the chef-- the Capital Burger was perfect! If you have "burger" in the name of your establishment then you should serve a good "burger". Any person or establishment that can cook a burger, "well done", and the burger is juicy, they are good. The Capital Burger doesn't disappoint. Twice, the burgers have been very good and the fries are served hot with a side of mayo(my choice.) Seemed generally interested in our trip and was also very helpful for us tourists. Had calamari, blue cheese burger, classic burger and a chicken sandwich. Burgers cooked as ordered and were done perfect. Only issue was a limited selection of draft beers. 3 on menu were out of stock. Service was excellent so it made up for that!

Ever since Otakon moved to Washington D.C. my friends and I have made it a point to stop by this particular restaurant. The reasoning is simple. The burgers served here are some of the best we've had. Every bite is a delight and we've never had a problem with a burger being cooked too rare or too well done.
