I visited this restaurant on 3/17/23. It had been 4 years since my last visit. On this occasion, I took my parents for their wedding anniversary. This was also their first time visiting. We had a great experience and our steaks were cooked to perfection! That steak was so delicious that I don’t have words to express! I also had the chop salad and that too was the best salad I have ever tasted from a steakhouse!

I'm not really big on steak so I'm really glad they had alternate options. But im sorry lets start from the beginning. The appetizer simply fried shrimp one word delicious!! It came with a dipping sauce that was equally amazing and the cucumber salad was perfect! The blueberry Mojito was good it was stronger on the second drink but still delicious. For the main course i had the salmon (medium) and shrimp. The salmon just melted in your mouth it was amazing!!! We shared the lobster Mac and cheese and I must say it I didn't think it would be cheesy but man did they prove me wrong. Everything that touched my tongue was an amazing experience. It was pretty expensive but we went in knowing that. Dinner attire is there dress code so it gave me a reason to get dressed up and I'm happy with my experience in so many different ways.

The food was amazing. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because we were forgotten about when it was time for the check. We waited for a good while before flagging someone down. Otherwise the service was phenomenal. Food was phenomenal. Drinks were phenomenal!

Wow! First things first, you get what you pay for and you should expect to pay a substantial amount of money for dinner at any Ruth's Chris. What the expensive price tag does provide is phenomenal food, great service, and a night you will never forget. Prices aside, if you are looking for the BEST steak house in Virginia Beach (maybe even Hampton Roads) then this is *the* place to go. The food is AMAZING and worth every penny! The ambiance and decor is top notch for any type of gathering from romantic dinner dates, family gathering, and even for business purposes. Service is outstanding, completely opposite of the rude/obnoxious customer service you typically get elsewhere in Hampton Roads. Parking can be little harsh, you will most likely be parking in a parking garage a few blocks away. Just outside this Ruth's Chris, is a gorgeous open area that has decorations for the time of year. At the time of this review, it was Christmas decor (with Christmas music). If you can afford Ruth Cris, it is an EXCELLENT choice to eat. You will not be disappointed (maybe your wallet will hurt though).

10/10 I brought my mom here for her birthday this weekend.The service was amazing. Mike was our waiter. He was knowledgeable, down to earth and made our time here very special. The food exceeded my expectations. Best steak, lobster, and crab cakes I’ve had in a long time. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Absolutely delicious!! My best friend brought me for my birthday and I have never had a steak that good in my whole life!! And everything else was amazing too from the wine, appetizers, sides and service! It was all around a 10/10 experience highly recommend

We Wanted to enjoy a good steak and decided to try Ruth Chris Steak House in Virginia Beach. I have tried many good steak houses around the world and Ruth Chris is a top notch steak house. They warn you the plates are served hot and they are right. The food is piping hot when it arrived. But first the service, the service was on point from our Server Garon, he was great and on point. He recommended the macaroni and crab. That bleep was good! First time I tried it and it did not disappoint. Was impressed with the service that the manager stopped and talked several time at our table. Garon was entertaining and took very good care of us. He deserved the 50+ dollar tip we gave. The steak and potatoe was very good and the taste did not disappoint. The potatoe was fresh and too big. My wife had the lambs chops with asparagus. But we are so much of the macaroni and crabs we both were full. It was $200.00 plus we'll spent. If you want a good fine dining experience try Ruth's Steak House

Ruth Chris never disappoints. Caesar salad served with fresh warm bread. Filet with lobster, creamed spinach and cheesecake for dessert. To go I got the lobster Mac n cheese and the famous bread pudding!!

That was the BEST steak I ever had in my life. Life hack tip, you MUST make a reservation, and Fellas dress appropriately, no sleeveless shirts and no hats, too bad I got stood up 😢 Service was the best and very friendly staff. Absolutely remarkable service! I’m very grateful to Ruth’s Chris for making my Anniversary Dinner so enjoyable. Our Server Jeff was fantastic, attentive without being crowding, friendly and conversational in a professional light hearted manner. They decorated our table and our dessert, which was so sweet. My partner got the 11oz Filet Medium and the Mashed Potatoes, he said it was the best steak he’s ever had! I got the Chopped Salad no Bacon, we shared the Goat Cheese Artichoke Dip, both were sensational. We enjoyed a few cocktails and got the Creme Brûlée as our Dessert, everything was perfect. I appreciate the service and attention to detail! Ruth’s Chris made an already memorable day even better ☺️ Thank you!

We went to Ruth Chris for the first time in years for my birthday. I'm glad to say that in a time where customer service is declining, the customer service there was still top notch. Please note that they include an 18% gratuity which is shared with eveyone who comes to your table. Many upscale restaurants are going to this model. The service was deserving of much more than that so we added to it. I had crab cakes, sweet potato casserole, brussel sprouts and a house salad. Instead of getting the three crab cake entree, I ordered the two crab cake appetizer as an entree. My husband had the T-Bone steak and garlic mashed potatoes. Everthing came out sizzling (hot plates).The crab cakes were mostly crab meat which was great. I asked for a side of hollandaise sauce with it. The brussel sprouts were tender while also having a slight crispness. The sweet potato casserole was SWEET with a pecan crust which gave it a nice crunch in the midst of the creaminess of the sweet potatoes. My husband also said the the garlic mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. He said his steak was tender and good. All of the sides are a la carte. The serving size is enough for two or three regular sides -definitely shareable. I ordered enough to have leftovers. Since my husband didn't like the sides I ordered it worked out great! If I were to go again, I would skip the salad and get dessert instead. For my birthday they gave me cheesecake that tasted like a mixture of cheesecake and ice cream. It was delicious! I enjoyed the meal and plan to visit again!!

You can’t go wrong with Ruth’s Chris no matter what city you’re in and this location is no exception. Beautiful restaurant with a business professional atmosphere during the day and romantic and intimate at night. I always order the NYStrip and it was perfect! Try the Raspberry Martini and Berries & Cream dessert! Yum!

We had an amazing time! This review is from our visit on July 9th. Our server was Bryce. He was pleasant, friendly but not overbearing. Ruth's Chris is my mom favorite restaurant but we have never been to the location in Virginia Beach. My best friend had never been at all. He had a great experience and thoroughly enjoyed his food. Our table spread included a ribeye steak, lamb chops, sizzling crab cakes, au gratin, mac and cheese (no lobster), sweet potato casserole, spicy shrimp, Caesar salad, garlic mashed potatoes, a blackberry side car and a blueberry mojito and for dessert a bread pudding. The only thing that was lack luster (not bad or disgusting, just wasn't as delicious as all the other items) was the au gratin. It was a bit under seasoned for my taste. Everything was clean which you expect but not all places are successful at so that was great to see. And though he was great the entire time, one of the best things that Bryce could have done was when giving the check he indicated the tip was already included. That allowed me to decide if I wanted to include more along with my tip or not. It seems so insignificant but it is really a big thing and shows such honesty and as a frequent diner I really appreciate that! We will definitely return when I'm back in Va in the future!

I wanted to celebrate my fiancé’s birthday with a new experience. I thought about it for a few days and then decided to go a little out of our normal and try Ruth Chris’s. Gave us a reason to get dressed up, and escape home together ❤️ Definitely did not disappoint! I went knowing it was going to be kinda pricey… but so worth every penny!! My fiancé ordered the 22oz porterhouse, garlic mashed potatoes and their Brussel sprouts. I ordered the petite filets and shrimp with the grilled asparagus and sweet potato casserole…. The steak just melted in your mouth, it was nothing short of amazing! I also ordered the raspberry cosmo…. Delicious, absolutely delicious. Our server was Bryce (not sure if I spelled that correctly), he was phenomenal. Very informative, great recommendations. Very attentive. Thank you Bryce for a wonderful experience.

Rather expensive but it was worth every dollar he spent 😊 Staff was extremely pleasant and the atmosphere was delightful. Food was great. First time! Lamb chops were great. Salmon was tender and flaky, yummm. Cream spinach was good, but not my favorite. Lobster Mac was good but couldn't eat much of it because I was so full! It was great as leftovers!

We came here for dinner to celebrate Dave's birthday. We really enjoyed our visit. Reservations are required. We started out with some drinks. Dave ordered an old fashioned and I got a glass of the pinot noir Las Alturas Vineyard". Then we ordered the Veal Osso Bucco Ravioli for starters which was delicious. I also had a bowl of their lobster bisque. It was a bit on the sweet side for my preference but nonetheless was yummy and I devoured it... For our main course, I ordered filet and shrimp with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. Dave ordered the 16oz ribeye with a side of creamed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes. When these entrées were brought out, it was nice to hear the sizzling, noticeably hot plates of steaks ready to melt on our mouths. 😋 They mentioned happy hour being Tuesday- Friday. They've got outdoor balcony seating so we thought of returning sometime for that. Surprisingly, 18% service charge was included which our waiter did point out when he brought our check out to us. I think this should be clearly written on menu or disclosed prior to customers ordering. We are usually "big tippers" and most likely would have tipped more than 18%. We enjoyed our dinner so much! To end the night, they brought out cheesecake for dessert. Omg, we talked about coming back just for that lol.

Ruth’s Chris, Virginia Beach, has classic steak house hushed vibe having soft lighting, heavy cherry wood trim, substantial earth tone carpet and minimal background noise fulfilling fine dining ambience. Seated in comfortable chairs at a white clothed table our small party of three settled in for early evening dining on the recent Labor Day weekend enjoying food, drinks and conversation celebrating a birthday. The birthday honoree, David, and I savored perfectly prepared (broiled not grilled) USDA Prime Cowboy Ribeye (bone-in). David’s wife, Stephanie, chose Filet Oscar, Filet also USDA Prime. Though she said the crab cake was a bit salty. RC’s steaks are USDA Prime but they are not dry aged. We shared flavorful, fresh, skillfully seared Ahi Tuna appetizer and Sin Cake (dense flourless chocolate cake) A La Mode and Crème Brûlée for dessert with Coffee. The Coffee was burnt and I replaced mine with Espresso which was fine. Sides we ordered were Mashed Potato, Baked Potato and Grilled Asparagus. Other drinks throughout dinner included Manhattan Cocktail, Ice Tea, Coca-Cola, Malbec and Kahlúa. Service was outstanding as expected in fine dining. Our server, Marylin, is experienced, genuinely sincere and knowledgeable vis-a-vis menu items’ ingredients and preparation techniques. She anticipated our needs and met them. Hot dishes arrived at the table piping hot. Typical in fine dining restaurants heated plates are used insuring it which was the case here. RC also puts a dollop of high fat content butter on top of steaks when plating, on heated plates, that gives the sizzle illusion when served and spikes the rich flavor of a highly marbled ribeye for example. Noting that my Coffee was burnt and without hesitation Marylin replaced it with Espresso as requested. These are distinguishing service differences between casual dining and fine ding restaurants. Detail from furnishings and restaurant acoustic’s design to high quality fresh ingredients, expert preparation and artistic plating along with faultless service = 5 stars. Oddly, the check included an 18% Service Charge which is not disclosed in the menu nor by signage nor was it voiced by Marylin. My experience is that service charges are sometimes assessed and demanded when serving large groups not for a table of three in $$$$ restaurant. Most restaurants have the sound judgement to disclose a fixed service charge, if there is one, to guests before taking food and drink orders. It is RC ‘s right applying the 18% service charge. I think it was bad judgement not disclosing the service charge at the time we were seated and in poor taste not being transparent. I deducted 1 star from the 5 I assessed above. PS: Before receiving the check my intention was to tip Marylin 20% of the total check amount which is standard for me when receiving high caliber of service. Marylin said the service charge on the check was surprising to her and she circled it on the check to bring it to my attention. I hosted the dinner.

Came here to have dinner on our wedding anniversary. Everyone congratulated us and Jonathan (our server) was wonderful. The food was prepared fresh and we were so impressed with the quality and speed of everything. It is expensive, but you get what you pay for. Would definitely return for a special occasion. Everything we had was delicious, the spicy shrimp for an appetizer, the filet and the crab cakes. We also got a Manhattan and it was perfect. Can’t say enough positive things about our experience, you won’t regret spending the extra money to come here!

I made a reservation for a birthday dinner for my husband. We were so excited as we’ve dined there on special occasions before. This experience was less than the usual. Our server was very slow. It appeared that she was waiting on at least five other tables. We had to wait for drinks, then salad, entree. And, I was disappointed that they no longer offer a complimentary dessert. Only after I asked. I think that could’ve been included since they have raised their prices. My husband loved his ribeye but mine was not cooked the way I ordered it. So dissatisfied.

Sorry we are out of the "featured steak" the bone in fillet... was how the dinner started off. Got the ribeye, very disappointed in it. So much fat and grizle that you could only eat 50% of it. The sides are delicious and as always the staff is on point! Wife really enjoyed her fillet.

Visited this place in the evening around 4:00 p.m after a reservation I called in over the phoneand I loved the decor,I love the service, and I would definitely go back. I ordered a Porterhouse for two and it was easily the best steak I've ever had in my life. It was quite pricey but definitely worth it!

The atmosphere was cozy, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. As for the food, the ribeye I had was over cooked and the lobster macaroni & cheese was okay but the lobster tail and shrimp were cooked perfectly and the sweet potato casserole was yummy. The lemon drop martini was also delicious. Overall, it was a nice experience but I probably would not reccomend for a steak house.

I love this place! Whenever we can afford to come here, we do. We came tonight for my birthday and as usual the food was spot on. We got the spicy shrimp for an appetizer. I'm not a huge fan of shrimp but these were in an amazing sauce and I couldn't get enough. I got the ribeye and my husband ordered the pork chops along with garlic mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. The service was top notch. Our server, Jonathan, was fantastic. He was attentive, friendly, and personable. He came around at all the right times without coming too much. Stopped by for a meal and was thrown back into a happier time. You remember those times when people wore clothes with no holes in the pants and you as the customer were "wanted"? This is the second time I went here and each time I'm blown away. Before I even get in the restaurant there seemed to be something going on as a small crowd had formed. It seems some kids who mainly had shorts on, were not allowed. Business casual is the allowed dress and thank them for not just taking the money and sticking to policy of no sneakers, shorts, tank tops, hats and such. On entering you are greeted warmly and with a smile; from every employee you encounter and I felt they were glad to see us. It was so refreshing to see people who were working on making my night a special occasion. Added note, we were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant seemed to inform all associates as they all gave us well wishes. Next, we were seated and I'm still wondering if it was the "anniversary " table or did they did a little extra and spread heart shaped confetti with Happy Anniversary notes added but we appreciated the touch. The waiter was great, giving us the right amount of attention and the busser kept my water glass full. The steaks were perfect and the garlic mashed potatoes. Didn't know how they could do it but everything was perfect. Lastly, the bathrooms were also great. No bad odors and you get the impression that they are maintained continually. There is a pull handle on the door but thankfully there are towels to use to grip the handle. Treat yourself and your family and have a great meal that's worth the price.

Food, service overall experience was amazing. Probably the best lemon drop I've ever had. We had reservations arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait about 25 minutes before we were seated. They are spacing people out due to covid wearing masks and have handsanitzer out. Not sure if they always added 18% gratuity to the bill before covid or not but they do now another table had questions about it so overheard them explaining it to them. I was being treated so I didn't have a problem with the 18% actually never even saw the bill but I'd guess dinner, drinks and dessert for 2 came to about $320. I'd say it was worth it.

Everything we have had there has been awesome and amazing. We have had the garlic mashed potatoes, fries, lobster bisque (my BFs favorite bisque, ever), scallops, crab cakes, barley soup, etc. The filet mignon is the 2nd best I have ever had. It is delicious. It is worth the price to experience Ruth Chris. We always have wonderful service. We go here about twice a year. They do have restaurant week and we normally go there for that as well.

Sometimes expectations are high and you end up not having a good time. Not here lol. Just sit back relax and enjoy the ride. No matter what you order it's going to be made with the best selection of quality. Not to many restaurants can operate consistently at this level. The only thing I have to warn you about is not to fill up on bread and butter.

Ruth Chris Steak House is the standard for up class chain restaurant. The staff is always so professional, courteous, and enjoyable. We have been several times. Steak of course is always wonderful. This year we tried their Thanksgiving Meal. Did not disappoint! Nearly every large city has a Ruth Chris and I would definitely recommend it if you are looking for a good steak and don’t know where or what are the local favorite spots.

Went with some friends to celebrate my wifes bday! The service was exceptional and the quality and ambiance was great, which was to be expected. I ordered the swordfish and shrimp with broccoli as my side. Also had ahi tuna as a starter. The ahi was served sliced with a vegetable and ginger display on the side. It was perfectly seared and seasoned on the outside and cold and pink on the inside. The flavor was amazingly pared with a Wasabi sauce. The swordfish was hot, soft, flaky, and flavorful. It had four nice size shrimp on top covered in some kind of butter sauce. This was lightly complimented by some corn with a sweet and zingy taste. The broccoli (which im a huge fan of but often let down by restaurant's bland attempts to serve it) was nicely crusted with a bread crumb and moistly covered (not drowned) in a butter garlic tasting sauce. The meal in all was flawless, my only concern if any would be that the portion was not as much as i would hope for at that price. Overall a wonderful experience!

This was the 2nd time that I , my mother and church family have been here. The food is excellent! The AGM went beyond his job title. Hospitality personified. Our waiter went above and beyond. It was the last day of CoVa Restaurant week in Virginia Beach,VA. The choices on Ruth Chris' menu for this event were great. What made this visit great was that when we were to be seated the table which we were taken to would not accommodate us all. Some of us have a few extra pounds. They said hold on we got you. No rude or underhanded remarks about finding us another table. It was taken care of in minutes. Thank you Ruth Chris once again!

Lamb chops and lobster Mac and cheese are good however second rime getting lamb was chewy and taste gamey even kind of old. Also lobster Mac the lobster is not real more like imitation lobster but the Mac and cheese it's self is good.

This location failing to enforce its own advertised dress code is what prevented me from giving a perfect score for our visit here this evening. It was disappointing to come here and pay $150+ per person at least partially for the experience of dining out somewhere that is expected to be very fancy and exquisite only to be surrounded by diners in t-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. Otherwise, everything was amazing. The food was excellent, our server Mike and the bussers and runners supporting him were all top-notch and provided excellent service, and the dining area was immaculate and looked much cleaner and more modern than the last Ruth's Chris location that we visited in Greensboro, NC. The overly casual attire of the other guests would have been far less bothersome had this location not advertised a dress code. The lounge (bar area) was very low key, wait staff very accommodating and congenial. It’s a little quieter in the bar area than it is in the big dining room when folks begin to show up for dinner. Of course, the food is excellent no matter whether you eat in the big dining room or the lounge. We both had Fillet mignon which was superb. We will return soon.

Recently went here for Mother’s Day with my husband and our younger daughters. As soon as we saw our waiter Mike we remembered him from 1 or our first visits here years ago. I’m a Virginia local. This is just another overrated overpriced place in town center. I’m giving 4 stars still because the service was good and everyone checked multiple times to make sure everything tasted good and etc but food portions are very small. If you are going for the steak it’s best to go to outback steak house. Bill was $200 for 6oz steak and 3 small shrimp plus drinks for both my date and I. If you just like to splurge then I guess you’d be okay with this place but if you like to splurge while also getting the best bang for your buck then I’d suggest elsewhere. Cheesecake was terrible. Your better with the Cheesecake Factory if you want desserts in the end or Texas Roadhouse or Outback Steakhouse

Absolutely Incredible!! We had not been to Ruth Chris since Jacksonville, Florida in 1998 and although the location was different this time, everything was the same. The food is still delicious! The ambiance is amazing and the service is simply the best!! We had miniature crab cakes for our appetizer, t-bone steaks with garlic mashed potatoes and roasted veggies with a blue cheese crust for the main entree. They also gave us a mini loaf of the best bread with butter. The bread is very light, fluffy, and fresh. Dessert consisted of mini blackberry cheesecakes. Overall, simply the best!! This meal was extremely pricey, however, they integrate top quality into every aspect of the business, from the ambiance to the service to the table! This is definitely a place everyone should at least try once or maybe even twice in their lifetime. Absolutely Incredible!

I love Ruth's Chris for special occasions or a nice romantic quiet dinner. You can always count on impeccable service here with each waiter having an assistant to bring water, clear the table, and run errands. The inside is all classic wood decor and it's much larger than you think with several dining rooms with fireplaces and seating. There are rooms for private dinners as well as large dining rooms they only open at Christmas and Thanksgiving when there are more diners. Their steak is amazing and all sides are served family style. They have the best sweet potato casserole I've ever had and when I commented as such once our server brought me out a card with the recipe on it! I made it for Christmas that year and everyone was blown away. I should've lied and said it was my recipe! Ha. Delicious french press coffee and dessert options with my favorite being the vanilla bean creme brûlée topped with fresh berries. It's amazing every single time. Consistency is important in fine dining and this place always delivers. When you come for a birthday or anniversary they remember and will decorate your table before you arrive, it's the little things that count.

A little disappointed...not up to Ruth's Chris standards. Bread was only delivered after asking multiple times. Steaks were delivered hot but not sizzling as is custom. Wait staff was pleasant but MIA for long periods of time. Chocolate cake was not available. Multiple requests for boxes and the check resulted in a 2.5 hour dinner. And an 18% gratuity was auto added to the bill so the staff has no incentive to improve performance.

This is the best place to go if you want to really impress someone. The staff is very courteous and will address people by their names. They will check your coats in and give you matching napkins to go with what you're wearing (black or white). If you make a reservation, they will accommodate you and reserve your table and dress it to fit the occasion worth celebrating. The restaurant is very clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The waiters are very thoughtful and kind. The food is perfect! Everything was magical! I could not stop smiling the whole time and I am very happy. Thank you!

Beautiful restaurant , 20' tall ceilings with classy woodwork covering the walls. King salmon is a melt in you're mouth delite. The sweet potatoe casserole is as sweet as candy........they recommend adding vanilla ice cream on top. The steaks are always good but I needed some seafood tonight and so we also had the lobster mac n cheese. Its real mac n cheese .......with an actual cheddar cheese layer on top and the best part is a generous portion of chopped up lobster covering the top. Its a must try and I promise you'll enjoy it! My first restaurant experience in Norfolk Virginia was very nice! The location of the restaurant was excellent positioned in an ideal central area. Tiffany, the waitress was funny, charming and was on point, and the service was fantastic! The shizzling crab cakes were delicious! I like the crispness on the bottom of the cakes. The lobster mac’n cheese was very generously loaded with lobster… soft and creamy!! I had to take 3/4 of it home as my 16oz ribeye (crispy from the outside and medium rare from the inside) was waiting for my undivided attention! There was no room for dessert! Ruth&Chris did not disappoint at all 👌👌👌!!

Their policy of "men shall remove their hats" is also false. Even after mentioning/complaining to the manager, he refused to have them remove their hats. Bar staff were awesome and super friendly. The wait staff asked if we were celebrating anything when I said Anniversary she sprinkled Anniversary confetti on our table 😊. I wanna explain why I’m giving this rating because before my last experience I would have given it a five out of five. Me and my husband have gone a total of four times and every time the food was amazing and the waiter or waitress was kind and attentive. The atmosphere is always ambient. But January 28 of this year me and my (now husband) went to dinner, me thinking he was just treating me to a nice meal he ended up proposing. He said he called and made reservations a week ahead and told him what he had planned and the person on the phone was excited and wrote it down with the reservation. The waitress started with greeting us as Mr & Mrs and that Instantly gave me the idea that he was proposing which ruined the surprise. Well either the host didn’t tell our waitress or it was never written down to begin with but the waitress had no idea and he had to tell her last minute. The experience was not as romantic as he had hoped and the waitress took a couple pictures with this phone but there was no flash so the pictures were dark and not a single picture was focused they were all blurry. Now I know she’s not a photographer but if she wasn’t up to taking pictures maybe she should have had someone else do it because I have no pictures to capture the moment because they all came out horrible. Then the waitress proceeded to tell us she had never done a proposal before! Maybe you should have had someone with experience be out waiter!! Nevertheless the experience was not great and that is sad considering how highly rated the place is.

The waiter Garon was fantastic, the scenery was good. The food tasted great on my end but the cook forgot to bring me my shrimp and stated he already did when I didn't. My girls steak was supposed to be well done but you could still see pink in the center and that was only made right to us by our fantastic waiter doing everything he could to make it better for us. Garon is very knowledgeable on the history of Ruth Chris and the food they serve. If it wasn't for his Fantastic service I dont think I'd ever feel the desire to go back due to the food issue with the chef. Although it was still delicious.

Food is very good. Steak prepared in way unique to the ovens designed for high heat without burning meat. Staff very enthusiastic and checks on you regularly. Two things relatively concerning however: Gratuity was automatically added for party of two, usually need 6-8. Dress code is not enforced. I planned my birthday dinner at Ruth Chris. I never ate there before so I thought this would be a good occasion. I called to make reservations 3 weeks prior to my birthday dinner. The host Savarna took my info (name number & email). I had a question about how many people can be in my party, she said the manager would call me back but my dinner reservation was booked. She did not inform me that I would receive a confirmation email, so I didn’t expect one. I just assumed my reservation was booked because she took my info. Days pass and I never receive a call back about the number of guest I could have, so I called back. Once again I was told that the manger would call me back. I never receive a call back. The day of my birthday, my party arrives (10 ladies dressed up & a huge cake) and the host tells me, they can’t find me in the system and that I have no reservation! And they are too booked to seat my party! I was completely livid and embarrassed! The manager Shawn Kelly was so unapologetic! He act as if I was crazy and never called Ruth Chris for a reservation! He also told me that, this kind of stuff doesn’t happen here and that they are pretty good with handling reservations! Haha that’s was him using his customer service skills! No one seem to care or fix the issue! I was turned away with no apology! It’s was awful! I just want to state, if I was made aware of receiving a conformation email; when I never received one I would of called back to make sure that’s everything was good to go! but no one told me about a conformation email, so I just thought my table was reserved. The next day, I reach out to my cell phone provider to research my call log to prove that I called Ruth Chris, for reservations! I found the two calls that I made! I reached out to the General manager Brian Penton. He was able to find me in they system! 2days laterrr (my birthday is gone now ha). Anyways, he apologized and said he would talk to Shawn Kelly. Nothing can really be resolved at this point, because what happen, happened & my birthday was ruin due to Ruth Chris incapability to book a reservation properly & to communicate, the process of steps of booking a reservation (conformation email). I gave them 3-star just based on how they're very expensive for me. Though the food, ambiance, and service are 5-star, I don't believe that two NY strips (12 oz.), two small salmon fillets, a small bowl of mushrooms, and a small boat of potato au gratin is worth $230. They tasted great, but we get to eat at home that tastes as good for just a fraction of that price. I haven't tried their happy hour, so I will probably come back for that. I would recommend them if you have the money to spend I guess, and they have starters I believe that's reasonably priced.

Food was great, ambiance is unbeatable. Dim lights and smooth jazz added to a wonderful evening. The food was spectacular if not a little over buttery. Parking can be a pain but they have valet parking for $8 which is unbeatable for the convenience. Be prepared to spend $$$$. Me and the wife came for my birthday and tab plus drinks came to about $280 for 2 persons.

Atmosphere is good, food is good, service was great. The part that ruined it for me was the price of the meals and beverages. I find over 200.00 dollars for two people and only one glass of wine is out of my budget so far as to negate the great steaks and upscale atmosphere. If money is no concern then go and enjoy. Parking scarce but they do have reasonable valet service.

Went for Restaurant Week. Food was very reasonably priced (3-course meal for $45), drinks were fabulous and our waitress was Amazing! I forgot to take pictures, but I ordered a Muscow Mule, a house salad, King Salmon, mashed potatoes and for dessert cheesecake.... Oh and a side of French fries because they looked really delicious when I saw another waiter taking a plate to someone's table. Restaurant week's last day for the Town Center Virginia area March 28, 2021, so be sure to give it a go!!!

Took my fiancé here for a surprise visit and ordered a ribeye steak slightly rare and it came back almost all the way cooked and it was not very flavorful almost like there was no seasoning at all and for the other higher in steak houses they Ashley give you sides with your meal this place does not it is a little overpriced for the amount of food that you do get. I was very disappointing for spending almost $200 😒 But the good side is it’s a very nice clean place excellent staff and great service I just felt like the food was not up to par as it should’ve been.

The finest dining experience in Virginia Beach. We love the Sizzle, Swizzle and Swirl Happy Hour Sunday-Friday from 4 to 6:30pm. Appetizers, wine, beer and cocktail options are priced great, so we can treat ourselves often. In the spring, summer and fall, they have a GREAT patio we really enjoy. Sitting outside allows you to take in all the sights and sounds of Towne Center while sipping a superior Cabernet. Can't beat it.

I've been to quite a few Ruth's Chris in various locations from coast to coast, and this is by far one of the best! There wasn't a single thing that was below standard. The server was well educated on the menu, the server assistant was prompt, the salad seemed very fresh, the sides were nice and hot, and our steak and chicken were both cooked to perfection! The price was well worth it and we will be recommending to many others as well as visiting ourselves!

We have been to Ruth's Chris twice last year so we know how good the service and food can be. We went last night for our 15th anniversary and we were highly disappointed. I ordered the lobster bisque as a starter and it had a only had a couple of specs of lobster in it. Definitely different from the last time we had it. I got a filet and lobster and my husband got a ribeye and lobster both cooked medium. His was cooked as expected and mine was very dark pink throughout. They said that was their medium. No problem I just wanted it cooked a little longer. They took my steak back in and my husband's asparagus which come out cold (after waiting 45 minutes for our food to begin with). The waitress and manager brought our food back out in minutes. My steak was very dry and the pieces I had already cut were grey. My husband's new asparagus was room temperature at best. Needless to say we asked for our check and didn't eat our reheated food. Our waitress was nice enough but we kept having to track her down. Our small table was cluttered with used dishes that the last time we came would have been cleared so we had room to enjoy our food. That experience was definitely not worth $156. So disappointing

My dad has just gotten back from deployment and we decided to have a family dinner. It was a party of 11 and we were able to get our own private room. My server and server assistant had the best humor. Great food. My family will definitely be back!

Consistently excellent service. The food is typically above par, although I was a little disappointed with my steak this last visit. Usually the steaks are very tender, but this time it was actually a little tough to cut with the steak knife. Usually you can cut them with a butter knife. Hopefully it was just a one off. Other than this one point the food is always very good. It is very expensive, but great for the occasional splurge.

Went here for my friend husband birthday🎂 and it's a very elegant place to dine at. Very clean and newly looking in the inside. The CS was excellent didn't want or need for nothing. The steak is obviously God-like. I have never had anything even close to the quality offered at this establishment. When you are seated they bring out bread and butter for you to munch on while you're waiting for your drinks and entrees. Followed by a wonderfully attentive and knowledgeable server taking our order and taking care of us throughout the night. Would've loved to indulge in a dessert but was unable to find any remaining space in my stomach -- maybe next time!

My family & I recently held my daughter's birthday dinner at Ruth Chris and our evening was an awesome experience. When were lead to the table we found the staff had taken the time to decorate it to commemorate the occasion. The waiter assigned to our table, Araz, could not have been more gracious, accommodating, personable while still being professional. He didn't miss a beat. He checked in on us constantly without being overbearing. He was very patient in answering all are questions & filling our request. And that Seafood Tower! That made MY evening . Our food was excellent and the cake & ice cream plate presented to my daughter at the end of the meal was should I say "the icing on the cake". The evening was perfect and a birthday to be remembered. Araz played a large part in making that happen!

Been to many Ruth's Chris all over the country this visit was just terrible, it was a beautiful day outside but only half of outside was prepped for people and that half was packed, everything else was covered grime from the winter. The manager Sean wasn't interested in helping and made no move to come up with an alternate plan. He made us feel un-welcomed. I won't be taking my clients and customers back there again. Thanks for the feed back from the management, I am upgrading my review to reflect this positive shift in customer service.

The server was kind of pushy to one of my daughter’s about what she wanted when we were very clear she wanted a cheeseburger. The first review we saw said it was the best burger they ever had and he said that was only at the bar which put us off. Idk why you can’t get that but that’s not his fault. So he mentioned the kids menu which was fine but then he started pushing a filet and said that’s basically a burger and it’s not even close. Kept pushing albeit very nicely. I was getting irritated and said something to my husband and he tried to interject. My daughter has a lot of issues she struggles with and we just wanted a nice dinner and she just wanted a burger. He said he’d check to see if he could get it from the bar. I said if not she will decide if she wants the chicken fingers or the sliders. I appreciated him checking. After we got passed that hiccup it was all wonderful and smooth sailing. I don’t like being pushed if I was very clear on what I want or someone else wants. So that bothered me. It was also overwhelming for her and her issues. Anyway, considering the whole experience it was small enough. Like I said, the food was amazing and the rest of the service was very on point. I would even have him again. Just hopefully not have that issue. The food was pricier than I thought but I didn’t pay attention to that when looking up the restaurant so that’s completely on me. The place and area was beautiful! Love it all!

Well, to say that I am impressed is not saying enough. I made reservations for my wife's birthday here and we were seated shortly after arriving. The staff were very friendly and cordial. Holly did a great job introducing us to the restaurant, Chris did a good job serving our food, and Tyler packaged our remaining food with wonderful cheer. We ordered the calamari to start the evening and it was delicious. I ordered the ribeye prepared medium rare and it was great, until I tried the filet my wife ordered and I was blown away. The aroma, the plating, the flavor, and the texture were all superb. Paired with their Malbec you will certainly not be dissatisfied. I recommend having an intimate dinner here with your significant other and truly enjoying a well prepared meal.

I would like to personally give Ms. Amy kudos for holding down the bar like a boss to the best of her ability on Sunday! I went in to treat myself and watched as she tactfully and gracefully learned where everything was and how to make cocktails even though she was under pressure. Even better, although she was under stress she kept a positive, attentive, and customer-service oriented attitude which is hard to come by. I swung by Ruth Chris’s to treat myself to a long-gone “Scottish Time Tea”, and although I wasn’t able to have one, both Amy and Stephon made it a priority to look into my request and see what they could do. Also, it was my first time trying some appetizers and the Ahi Tuna bites and Spicy Shrimp were amazing!!!! I can’t wait to visit again and I really hope that by then Amy has been promoted to bar manager for her drive and efforts!!!

Ok, I post alot of reviews on places I go and keep it real regardless so I wont compromise my track record and just say that 2 weeks ago I visited here on my wife's Birthday and ran into an issue that we felt could have been handled a lil better concerning a dress code issue, having said that we decided to eat somewhere different and I expressed my concerns with the GM of Ruth Chris, Bryan, and discuss the issue, he was completely understanding and worked out the situation with me in professional manner and convinced my wife and I to return and give them another shot,which we did and considering everything involved I could have given a 2 star review and harped on the situation instead of the food but it turned out excellent for all involved and I have to say, from the service to the food it was absolutely amazing and delicious! Tara was our server and let me tell you now,if possible, please ask for her to serve you,she is excellent and prompt and all around a great personality, shortly after our arrival Bryan the GM greeted us and spoke with us and assured us we would be taken care of and he did just that! We ordered the filet mignon, tomahawk steak, seared mai, shrimp cocktail, cheesecake and Hagen daz ice cream, and everything was absolutely amazing...give this place a shot,well worth the money!

Came here with a group of friends to celebrate two birthdays. I am not much of a red meat eater, only eating it a few times a year so I stick with seafood. Our night started out fine, the bread and butter was great, and the lobster bisque was amazing. We bought a bottle of wine because it was cheaper that paying $14 a drink. I ordered the crab cakes, my husband got the lobster mac and cheese, and my friend and I split a side of mashed potatoes and some of her steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing, considering I only eat red meat a few times a year. Now, I love crab cakes and have eaten many at all different restaurants, but these ones were just ok. They were loaded with crab which is a plus, but they were kind of dry and the outside was kind of tough, while eating it all I could think was that there were still parts of the shell in it, that is how tough it was. I can get an amazing crab cake dinner for half the price elsewhere that is cooked perfectly. My husband was not fond of the mac and cheese. The worst thing about dinner was the mashed potatoes, they were some of the worst mashed potatoes I have had. For $10 a side, I expected this to be potatoes made in house. You know a nice thick flavorful mashed potato that you eat every last bit of. These potatoes tasted like instant potatoes and made by someone who can't read the instructions on the box because they were super watery and gross. I could not even finish them that is just how bad they were. Also during dinner the manager kept walking by the table and starring, it made me uncomfortable. At one point he finally came up to the table after about two hours of starring and made a comment about us conversing all night so he couldn't interrupt, we were a party of six, of course we will be talking all night. Throughout the night our whole party would go from being very comfortable to so hot we had to take our sweaters off. The temperature fluctuation started making me nauseous by the end of the night. Also there is a sign about the dress code and people wearing items against the rules were being seated. The feeling of the restaurant says fine dining, but the rugs and ghetto take out bags read cheap steak house.

The service as we all know is always impeccable with Ruth's Chris. My wife and I are still terribly disappointed in the fact that they decided as a chain to stop selling prime rib. A couple years ago we went there and it was perhaps the best prime rib I've ever had as well as my wife and when I called their corporate to inquire why they weren't showing prime rib any longer on their dinner menus they said that prime rib has gotten hard to find. It is interesting that is the position that Ruth's Chris took on no longer selling prime rib and as much as I can find prime rib and virtually every Steakhouse that I go to and find it terribly curious that there's some sort of shortage. We will continue to patronize Ruth's Chris but not as frequently as we used to until they see fit to have a basic necessity of any steak house, prime rib.

I pride myself in going to a Ruth Chris in each city I travel to. I must say this establishment was not even close to what was used to, I sat at the bar and and a waiter came up to take my order. I ordered what I thought was the house cab a 50 Acre Ranch, he gave me a strange look and said we don’t have that wine. I replied that is was the standard Ruth Chris’s house cab, he then smiled and said we are a “franchise” Restaurant and not corporate, Although surprised I ordered a chopped salad as I do all over the US. 40 minutes later I asked the water behind the bar where was my order, oh yes the wait staff rotated behind the bar, my salad came and ir was not like any I have ever had in a RC restaurant. The menu was different and the staff behaved like it was a Chile’s restaurant. I can only say RC you disappointed me, STOP franchisees and hold up to the RC standards. If you go to this place don’t expect a real RC experience.

I selected this steak house for a Mothers Day/Birthday surprise for my wife on 14 May 2017. I had arranged that a bouquet of roses be on the table, and a chilled bottle of wine so that it would already be set up at the table, when we arrived for our reservation time. That was marvelously done, and the Mrs. was completely surprised, so thank you to all the staff that made it happen. Our server was James, and he did an excellent job explaining various questions we had, and made the entire evening just a bit more special by taking time to take the time. Thank you James. We started with the seafood trio, and it met and exceeded our expectations, and we have had seafood at both 5+ star estates and 5+ star restaurants which Ruth's Chris seafood trio certainly compared with. Excellent choice by the way, if you like top shelf seafood. The Mrs. chose the 16oz rib eye and I simply could not resist the urge to sample to 40oz Tomahawk rib eye. I have spent the last 40+ years in the ranching industry, and have always had some type of beef for dinner and or breakfast. We both have had the best rib eyes known to man, and they have always come from my smoke pit, as generally anywhere else is imitation, and is usually not worth the time. Both our steaks and sides arrived at the same time, and as a southern gent, I let the Mrs. cut into and try hers first. Then I asked her "well...what do you think"? With a swift reply, she simply said..."I have finally found a place where they cook rib eyes just as good as you do". Feeling humbled, but also in disbelief, I cut into my med-rare, and with some doubt, bit off a small sample. I was stumped, I was in shock. I have had at least 350 pounds or more of rib eyes from various places in my life, but this steak was truly beautiful. Simply put, I was more than impressed. The service continued as professionally as it began, and we topped the evening off with a slice of birthday cheese cake, and I had the Irish coffee. I come from a 4th generation family of beef cattle ranchers. We have properties from Central Texas, to Midwest states, and I certainly will be letting the rest of my ranching family know about the competition I found with Ruth's Chris, when it comes to cooking a trophy tasting steak. Ruth's Chris Steak House is well known for their excellent meats, perfectly cooked, and served sizzling hot on a 500 degree plate. My first experience with them, several years ago, did not disappoint. I left raving about "the best steak I ever had". Last week, I was back with my wife, to celebrate her birthday and I'm sorry to say but, the magic is gone. Our middle of the week visit found the steak house almost empty. Did this mean the locals prefer to dine out on weekends...or was this a sign of something else? After a brief delay, we were shown to our table, and tickled to see the staff has sprinkled little "Happy Birthday" confetti playfully across the table. A nice touch but, this happy feeling stopped immediately when our waiter crudely used the back of his hand to wipe his nose and then immediately used that same hand to point to a specialty item on the menu. Yes, that really happened! Additionally he mumbled through menu items at a speed and volume very difficult to hear. When he finally left, my wife said, "I couldn't understand a thing he said, did you?" Unfortunately, I was counting on her. When dinner arrived, as expected the ribeyes were sizzling on the plate and cooked as requested however the quality of meat was unimpressive. No exceptional flavor, seasoning, texture and certainly no shortage of fat. All in all, very disappointed with the steak! The vegetables - creamed spinach and and creamed cauliflower - were ok, nothing spectacular. Dessert was nice, creative, and appropriately embellished for the birthday girl, nice. Look, the food was good, service was poor, but honestly, for that price and reputation I expect this to be my best steak dinner in town. On this night, we were disappointed.

I ate at RC's four months ago for the very first time and was initially shocked by the prices until the dishes came to the table: everything is portioned as if it needs to serve all of the US armed forces on the west coast at once. I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts, but what these people have done to these demon seeds from Ernest Scared Stupid turns them into an addictive culinary art form so wonderful that they should be treated as a controlled substance. The salad was perfect. The scalloped potatoes were perfect. The Mac and cheese was perfect. The filet mignon so heavy it rivals the disappointment my parents experienced as a teen when I started collecting Pokemon cards? Friggin perfect. Long story short, get in your car right now, drive to Ruth's Chris, give them your credit card, tell them you want everything, then call your boss and let him know you'll be out a few days because you've got a sickness and the only treatment is more Ruth's Chris.

I was saying,"You can give yourself a treat day; you just got paid! You want steak, so go!" (No, not every payday is a treat day, but that day I talked myself right into having a Ruth Chris dining experience to compare it to my Shula's 347 experience.) To be fair, I ordered everything I had ordered at Shula's: a filet mignon with sauteed mushrooms & onions, a side of steamed broccoli, a house salad and a glass of a cabernet sauvignon. It was more costly, but the meal was scrumptious and the staff were all into keeping me content. I'm not rich, so when I pay that much for a meal, I expect close to perfection- from start to finish. They were so close to getting the 5 star rating, but failed miserably with my credit card security, hence their 3 star rating. The server failed to ask for my ID when I presented my credit card for payment. (Clearly on the back says- SEE PHOTO ID.) Don't know if it was overlooked, or if the server didn't care; either one shows Ruth Chris needs to change or to enforce this policy.

The cowboy ribeye will drain your kid's college fund, but it'll be worth it. This is the best steak they have so don't make the noob mistake of getting the filet. One of the best meals of my life when paired with the grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes and a Cheerios red wine.
