The food was phenomenal and fresh. The service was great too. It was neat to see the fish market as you entered the building and look at all the fresh fish. I had the tuna, and it was incredible. The potato salad was incredible too. Everything was good. I do think the shrimp add on to my meal was overpriced considering the three tiny shrimp I received, but they still were very good tasting. I love the batter they used. The hush puppies were also awesome and my kids enjoyed them.

Great view right on the inlet. I ate outside and had the scallops. Service was "eh" but my friend and I were also talking and not ready to order initially...so some of that might be self-inflicted. The scallops were large and well prepared. Plenty of food came out and I was definitely not disappointed. Slightly above average selection of beer, so no complaints on that, either.

The service is fairly fast, but very friendly. Tables both inside and out, with part of the outside covered and roll up vinyl windows. Great view over the water (inlet). Nice to keep the rain out, but then let the breeze in to get the humidity out. The fresh catch of the day had a wide variety with three different preparations. Good variety of beer on tap and in bottles.

Delicious food and breathtaking view. Drinks are reasonably priced. Fried oysters were delicious.I highly recommend the hush puppies. They were scrumptious and made with whole corn. Service was exceptional and food was at our table in no time. There’s a nice little store beside it that sells fresh seafood, wine and merch.

I have been taste testing Virginia beach Oyster Rockerfella. So far Dockside is best. I have tested many restaurant options on the bay and ocean side. Dockside has the perfect balance of cheese spinach, oyster and flavorings. On a side note.we also had clams casino, it was pretty good too. My favorite was the Oysters. Both tables near my had fresh 🦀. Got to go back soon

We were looking into some sit-down eating options in the Virginia Beach area and saw that Dockside had some consistently good reviews. It was nice to see that they had a fresh market on-site so that everything was caught and prepared fresh. We entered the parking lot around 5 pm on a Tuesday. The lot was pretty full…not because of the amount of cars…but moreso because the parking spaces were extremely tight…it doesn’t help when almost everyone has an SUV or Pickup truck. So there were lot of vehicles taking up two spaces and everyone was being extra care when maneuvering within the lot. After we parking safely in a far corner space, we entered the initial marketplace area. They seemed to have a wide variety of everything seafood…fish, shellfish, seasoning, etc… At that time they had started to put some things away…but some seafood was still out in the case. We made our way to the back and while there was a short wait for outdoor seating…there was no wait for indoor seating. (Outdoor seating is really nice since it is right on the water). Inside was pretty busy with server hustling all over. Our nice server took our drink and food order quickly. Our drinks were brought over immediately and food following soon after. We had a few things…shrimp, fish, scallops, and fries. Everything was really fresh and very good…but what stole the show was the crab cake…it was really some of the best I’ve ever had. Prices were very reasonable considering how expensive seafood can be. All staff we encountered were nice and helpful. I highly recommend this place to anyone in the area craving seafood…I would love to return to try some other options and eat outside.

This down-to-Earth seafood place delivers on all fronts--ain't no two ways 'bout it, and is clearly a locals' favorite for good reason. Solid fresh seafood galore. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly service. Great dockside view spot with ample parking and bonus fish market front. In my late 40's and with the place packed I was by far the youngest customer in there today--so we know it passes the Grump Pots' sniff test. LoL. Prices reflect market value, so plan accordingly. ($$). Would return and bring others with me easily.

Fish was cooked to perfection, and it was delicious! Key lime pie was excellent as well, really refreshing end to the dinner. Hush puppies were very tasty and crunchy. I took one star off for the side dish options. French fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and vegetable medley. Eh. We all had the vegetable medley, but they were a little overcooked and very bland. Glad the fish was the star of the show, but we enjoy healthy sides as well. Would definitely go back!

Very nice view. Servers were great and attentive. Prices are a lil high but I guess it pays for the view or location. My friends and I arrived and enter from the docks. We got to park the boat on their dock. The clam chowder wasn't new England so if you expected that, get the she crab soup instead. Both were good though. The food were delicious too.

Friends took us here to eat and we liked it so much we went back the next day for lunch! The hush puppies were the best I have ever had. The flounder just perfect and the vegetable medley was fresh, not frozen. We also got some seafood from their seafood market to take home. The waitstaff was great, the view was great and the band was really good too. We will be back!

Sit outside and enjoy the view. Get delicious food every time you go. Staff is super sweet and attentive. Drinks are so refreshing. In a fun casual atmosphere. What else do you need? I had the seafood platter, fried, with a heaping mound of fresh veggies and fries.

Great service, live music, and one of the best fresh seafood meals available. Beautiful scenic dock on the water. One of the largest selections of fresh fish. Vegetables are also fresh, not frozen. All for a reasonable price. You can take some fresh fish and other seafood home from their market also! Dockside has become my goto restaurant in the Virginia Beach area with my highest recommendation.

The margaritas were very good although small they have a great selection of wine and I got the seafood platter which was fabulous my mother got I think the shrimp and crab cake the food is always over the top fabulous they give you more than you can eat there's always a doggy bag to take home and the atmosphere being right there on the water is spot- on. It is our goto 4 a really nice seafood dinner. The parking is sometimes a challenge.

Dockside was a recommendation from locals that worked at the hotel we stayed at and it did not disappoint. I order the shrimp Basket and unfortunately the wife who does eat sea food ordered a burger. She didn’t love the burger but the shrimp basket is as good as you’ll find in the US. Simply delicious and the lobster dip was also a great appetizer. I would for sure come back here again if in VA beach.

Dockside is the place for good seafood 🦞🐟 🍤in a relaxed atmosphere! Not only is the view spectacular, but the bar 🍺🍸 is pretty good also. Check ✔️ them out next time you're in Lynnhaven. Don't forget that they have a fresh seafood market and you can go fishing 🎣 on their head boat!

The crew on our fishing trip was great. They were right on top of anything we needed and definitely went above and beyond to make sure everyone on the trip had a good time. Great trip, hit or miss with the fish but totally worth every penny of it.

We always have such a great experience here. My go to, "celebratory" restaurant! The service, food and drinks are always fantastic. Eating outside, on the water, is our favorite. There is even a spot for outdoor games. We always have exceptional service but today our waitress was Tracey, 10 out of 10. We ordered a couple shots and she was the first waitress to ask us if we wanted them chilled. She was prompt and kind and we look forward to having her again in the future because we will definitely be back! Oh and after our fantastic meal, we decided to buy some oysters to go, to cook at home. The 2 gentleman that helped us were incredibly helpful and friendly. One of them even let me try one of the oysters we were buying! Going above and beyond like that is exactly why this is my favorite restaurant!

The typical dock side dive with plenty of character and the freshest catch. Since this is a working fish market you really do get a daily catch that is a range from whatever they caught that day. Where we were there we had a selection of 6 fresh caught fish. The outside patio is dog friendly. The food was awesome but the service was a bit slow where they were at peak time. Overall I’d recommend Dockside for fresh seafood even if you have to wait.

This was my first time going to Dockside, you have to walk through their little grocery store to get to the bar/restaurant. The waiter was extremly attentive and also helpful. My friend has a milk allergy and he worked with her exclusively to make her meal customized and perfect to her needs, she ordered the Dockside Seafood Platter. I ordered the catch of the day (flounder) with butter roasted veggies and coleslaw. The food was super fresh and perfectly cooked. For the premium price and the view, everything was a perfect environment and experience. I will be going back. The parkinglot is a bit on a incline, so highly suggest a good vehicle with a parking break! :) thats a joke for the giggles.

The orders (4) came out perfectly and hot. Beautiful view. Strongly recommend this place. If it's busy, go to the bar and have a drink, it's worth the wait.

My parents and I had a great time at Dockside. We are from Maryland, and I must say the crab cakes were the best outside of Maryland and no filler. The jumbo fried shrimp and the Oyster Rockefeller were also delicious! Alex was very attentive and made great recommendations. We also enjoyed dining near the dock and watching the boats and yachts sail by. Highly recommend this local restaurant!

Great seafood dining experience. Super specialty drink selection. Great appetizers and daily specials. Nice open area viewing the local marina. So glad we traveled a little from the hustle and bustle of the tourist part of town to get some local flavor. Don't miss out.

This fish market / restaurant was great. There is a huge parking lot. When you walk in, you enter the fish market section. You walk through to the back doorway to get into the restaurant. It's a really large space. There are boards with the specials of the day. They had about 10 different fish listed when I was there. Our waitress did a good job. We had a party of 7 and we didn't have any issues during our dinner. The serving sizes were good. I had the sheepshead grilled and it was fantastic. I had hush puppies and cole slaw for my sides. The hush puppies were good. I wasn't a huge fan of the cole slaw, but it wasn't bad. It had a lot of dressing. I'd definitely recommend visiting this restaurant.

3 stars for the food only. It's very mid. Everything needed seasoning. Now granted the fish of the day was flounder and I had mine broiled which isn't the best way to cook flounder so that's on me. With that being said if it was seasoned better it would have tasted better. The potatoes salad is a no, coleslaw a no and I love coleslaw. Come to think of it, this is probably the only time I didn't like the coleslaw at all. The she crab soup had way too much sherry. The customer service was good. The atmosphere amazing. I sat on the covered deck mid afternoon. It was beautiful. I'll give this place another try only because I love seafood

Great service! Food was good. The only reason I took a star is because the shrimp lacked a little flavor. The seasoning was sprinkled on top after being cooked with the shell on. The wait staff was great though!! Really appreciated our waitress. Great place to go! The view was stunning.

No wait for general seating at 5 on a Saturday night. Prices were average, portions ok. I was a little dismayed by the blandness of my broiled seafood platter with red potatoes and vegetable medley. No butter for veggies, no deliciousness. The artichoke dip was fabulous. If I go back, I'll get a more basic entree, maybe a burger.

Dockside Seafood was such a perfect place for our early Valentine’s dinner date night! We asked to be seated outside in the covered heated area. Our server, Rachel, was so helpful and courteous. We enjoyed our hush puppies appetizer as they were so tasty & warm. My swordfish was delicious!!

Some of the best seafood I've ever had in life! We were visiting the area for the weekend and, after reading the many high reviews and seeing it listed on the Visit Virginia Beach website, we decided to check it out and so glad we did. When first walking in you will be in the fish market part but then just turn and walk to the back to get to the restaurant which seemed very spacious in the inside and has a back deck so you are sitting, you guessed it, dockside. We sat outside which had a great view of the water and the boats riding by. The hostess and waitress we had were all extremely polite and attentive (we did wait 20 minutes but that's because we wanted outside seating). Now, to the most important part - the food. Everything tasted amazing! We started with a couple appetizers - Fried Calamari and Spinach Artichoke Crab Dip - which come out hot and were already starting to fill us up. Then our entrees came out while we were in the middle/end of eating the appetizers so very good timing. I got the Shrimp Parmesan and he got the Dockside Seafood Platter with all the items fried (it can also come broiled or baked I think). With everything we ordered, the seafood was extremely fresh, they provided great sized portions and pieces of the seafood (like jumbo shrimp not the small pieces) and we'll seasoned for an overall good taste. So glad we checked this place out. We definitely go here again when in the area and highly recommend anyone that eats seafood to go there also!

Wanting to take a half day fishing trip with my son to just enjoy the scenery and hopefully catch a few fish. The captain was great and got us to the fish quick. He was constantly looking for the bigger and better fish for us to catch. We were catching fish with every cast but they were small. That was not his fault at all. The deck hand Bryce was awesome and made sure everything was in order the entire trip. I will be coming back with my wife later in the year and this is the fishing boat we will be taking.

So amazing! Everything was so fresh and very well prepared! The staff is very attentive and precise! The view was breathtaking! We sat outside to watch the sunset! We had twin lobster tails, fried shrimp and the calamari for an appetizer with some red wine. Incredible! I will definitely be back, might drive the yacht next time. The smell of fish hits you in the face when you walk in. It’s also a seafood market... they sell fresh seafood in the front, so it’s to be expected. Don’t let it bother you. Head straight back to the restaurant. I am very picky about scallops, they were spot on. The crab cakes had enormous chunks of crab on top, soooo good. The views from this restaurant are breathtaking. You can sit inside and still have an unobstructed view.

Sorry, no food pics. We were too hungry to waste any time with photos once the food got to our table( which was NOT long at all). But these pics were taken before. We had the crab cake platter, and the softshell crab sandwich, both of which were excellent! The staff, and fellow patrons were all super friendly! We will definitely be back!! This was my first visit to this restaurant. Both the food and service were fantastic and I will definitely go back again. I also recommend that anyone looking for fresh seafood give it a try. I'm only giving 4 stars because of the decor or lack there of. It is very basic seating both inside and outside. But that is no reason not to go try it out.

Let me start by saying that the food is always good when we go there. However, this last Friday evening, the service was not so good. It started out good. Sam, our waitress, was very polite. But she didn't do a few things right. I ordered the special scallops, and my friend ordered the whole sea bass. Having seen the prices on the menu, I wasn't too worried about the price of these dishes. The waitress did not tell us the prices of the specials. When I got the check, I saw it was more expensive than all the dishes listed on the menu. Some "special". Also, I ordered the red potatoes. She brought me potato salad, which I specifically said I didn't want, after asking some questions about it. It turns out, another person at the other end of the table (3 seats down) got my side dishes and I got his. She took the orders and brought the food out. So, she should have known where to put which dish! The way I "got" my bill was on a little credit card machine. I couldn't see the itemized bill before I paid. So, I paid it and selected a printout of my bill. When I got it, I noticed that I was charged for 3 cups of she-crab soup. The waitress was nowhere to be seen. So, I asked for her to come back. After a long while, she did. I showed her the mistake. It was pretty obvious that I was paying for TWO people. So, why would there be 3 cups on the bill?? So, she just started asking around the table about who else had a cup, instead of trying to remedy my bill. Then, she went to look at the menu for the price, so she could see how much to take off. One of my friends asked if the price was on the ticket. She said it listed 3 and she didn't know how much ONE cup was! Well, $24 divided by 3 is......drumroll.........$8! Again, the food was good.

Yummy food! Great portions, and so very fresh seafood. The service was excellent! They were very, very busy, and extremely cautious with the COVID social distancing with their patrons. The staff was helpful, courteous, and doing everything to make your experience a good one. They had live music, which was very entertaining. A very relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere.

Prices are reasonable. The only negative?? this place is popular, be prepared for a wait without reservations.

Pretty good seafood, prepared about like you would expect. Mixed drinks served in plastic cups, with call liquor in the dining room was a little disappointing. Service was friendly and attentive. Quite busy during the season, be prepared to wait for a table. Side yard is dog-friendly, for well behaved dogs at least. Pictured is a whole fried sea bass, which was excellent.

I wanted to get fresh seafood while I was in VA Beach. My cousin and her family took me to Dockside. The view was beautiful but the food was delicious! I had the flounder, crab cakes, fries and vegetable medley. We also had calamari and oysters as an appetizer. Edwin was an awesome server! He was very friendly and kept checking on us. I look forward to eating at Dockside when I visit the beach!

Last restaurant dinner stop before leaving VA Beach. First time there and absolutely loved it. Sits on the water for inside or out door dining. Nice bar to hang out at as well. Food was super good, no complaints from our party of 8. Crab cakes were on point. 4 stats due to the fact that I had to get up to find our waitress after being seated and waiting for over 10 minutes!!

Taking back my previous review. Seems this place is going backwards. We had a really bad experience. Over priced seafood and oysters and no beer selection. We paid and threw our leftovers in the dumpster and went to OBS for a much better experience. And $1 oysters. Come on Dockside, step it up! Really?

This is amazing and incredible restaurant. Right on the water and ofcourse the seafood it is fingerlicking good. Raw oysters are huge and tasty. You want to keep eating and eating those little creatures . The nachos are wow...you have to try this restaurant. And on top they have fresh fish for sale. The fishermen come every mlm morning and you can get all the good seafood here..have tons of wine also and with a great price to go. Enjoy it as we did.

It’s a good place for dine in, very relaxing sitting outside close to the dock; their seafood appetizers are really good. I’m very impressed by their crab cake. I tried ordering their shrimp Alfredo since I was craving for pasta seafood but its not good at all. They have really good menu to explore.

This is as much a seafood market as it is a restaurant, and actually they have quite a variety of things in the market that a traveler (like us) might be interested in picking up. But we didn't buy anything there, so this review is about the restaurant part only. Do here we go. After walking thru the market we were greeted pleasantly and seated in a shaded booth outside by the dock as we requested. The star attractions for us turned out to be the atmosphere and the roasted potatoes. Sitting dockside on the bay, watching boaters go out and come in (and in some cases dock and come into the restaurant) was very entertaining, and let's face it, that kind of setting can just make seafood taste better, right? But kinda unfortunately, it was the roasted potatoes, or maybe we should call them steak fries, that were the shining light among what we sampled. (Also, the regular fries were not bad.) Second best item would be the crab cake, which was nothing special by Chesapeake Bay standards, but would knock me out for sure if I got it in Florida or Texas or wherever else. The huge disappointment was the most expensive item we ordered, and at least what I think of as a signature item in this area: crab legs. These were at best overdone and salty, and at worst unpleasant. We actually left some on the plate. Maybe just a bad day for the kitchen, who knows, but it was not good. On the positive side, the hush puppies and potato salad ordered with the crab legs were quite good. The hush puppies had little corn kernels in them that made for a nice texture. Drinks were fine, nothing made a big impression. Ditto the service. And in the end, what could have been a very good experience turned into average at best with the crab leg fiasco. I will say they seemed to have quite a few locals who were regular customers, so maybe we just ordered the wrong thing on the wrong day.

Popped into Dockside recently for lunch on Mom's birthday and we had a good time. It was an unseasonably warm day during our visit which made it much nicer to be outside on the covered deck. I didn't catch out waiters name however the guy was super efficient and he took really good care of us. Mom started off with a margarita and ordered Shrimp Parmesan from the lunch menu. I wasn't in the mood for seafood and decided to try the half pound Dockside Burger. After a short wait our food arrived. I have to say that the Shrimp Parmesan smelled delicious and it looked terrific. My burger was good. I added bacon as well, however this was no half pound burger, definitely a quarter of a pound but no where near a half pound, even before cooking. Regardless we enjoyed our meal and it was a beautiful sunny afternoon. Once we were finished we took a good stroll through the store however neither of us found anything we wanted at the time. I'm looking forward to coming back here, probably next spring or summer, and actually having some seafood.

Let me start with absolute gorgeous view. Nice to watch boats come in and out. There were 3 of us. We had the burger with the crab cake on it. He really liked this. The potato salad for a side and it was ok. Could use a little more seasoning. A second person had the flounder sandwich. They said it was OK. I had the crab cake sandwich with Cole slaw. It was not good. I ordered it broiled, it tasted like it wasn't cooked long enough, kind of cold mush on the inside. Other than the slaw having cabbage and carrots, it was nothing like slaw and way too much acid (vinegar), no balance in flavor. I am all for a non mayo slaw, but this was not good. We also had calamari appetizer and hush puppies. Calamari lacked seasoning, but decent. Needs different dipping sauce, tomato sauce was not good. I was hopeful as this was a new restaurant for us. Not sure I would try again, but maybe.

Service was mediocre. Hostess was rude. We had a large party for a work event and they didn't do reservations. We get there at 6pm on a Wednesday had to wait an hour for a table. They had outside seating but were blasting music so it wasn't even pleasant. Drinks were watered down. Food was really good but that was it. Travelling from Texas to Virginia Beach. Tried this place on the recommendation of a friend. Nice experience. We sat outside, mostly in the shade. We were right next to the dock so we got to see all the nice boats pull up to eat. We ordered two grilled fish. I had the swordfish with mixed vegetables and potatoes salad. My son had the grilled salmon with fries and coleslaw. Our guest had fried shrimp. All was wonderful.

First off the service was great! The outside desk views at sunset are great! Sadly my raw oysters were not cleaned properly and there was a parasite crawling around on the back side of one of my half shells. Lucky I spotted it as it crawled to the meat side and was able to kill it before ingesting it. I understand there is always a risk when eating raw oysters but the exterior shells should always be cleaned before servicing. I also order the she-crab soup. There wasn't as much crab in it as I was expecting and it tasted as if it had been burnt when made. My wife got the stuffed shrimp and oyster Rockefeller. She really enjoyed those. She also had a crush and a mojito. She said those were not so great.

From the hostess that took our name for a table, the hostess who seated us. The waitress to served us, the bus boys who were cleaning the tables around us and the cook. Hard working, moving efficiently. Smiles on their faces, courteous, friendly but professional. Management should be extremely proud of these amazing employees and the employees should be well appreciated. If they hadn't been there to serve us on our evening out, how disappointing it would have been. The shrimp and hushpuppies were good but the french fries were just ok.I wish they had more side choices.My husband had the flounder sandwich and potato salad. The potato salad was really good, wished I had gotten it instead of fries.Our server was nice but took quite a while coming back to check on us for refills and such, however we understand with staffing issues at most places now days you have to be patient. First thing you need to check is the timing of your arrival, as the sunset specials end at 5:30 and the crowd can be substantial. Since we were told we wouldn't need a reservation we had a short wait, but the staff seemed to be actively working to accommodate as many tables as possible and no one waited long (under 10 min). Hostess even moved us over a table out of a cold draft in the middle of seating multiple tables. Drinks were standard, but apparently the mojito was a little strong. Oysters were on par for the area; never really going to beat out the gulf but the eastern shore were noticably more flavorful than their other option (Lynnhaven). Served with all the accouterments. Swordfish and rockfish were fresh and much larger than anticipated! The accompanying sides lacked... anything that could have made them desireable, and since the table had no S&P I was forced to douse the veggies in the Texas Pete (not Tabasco?) borrowed from my wife's oyster plate. Kids were happy with the chicken fingers, but it's a little odd that the restaurant never knows when they have blue crabs. The good thing that saved the trip for my daughter was the backup option of snow crab legs, which were large and juicy! We signed up for a fishing boat this Sunday from this business and will know more then, but the fresh market in the front was clean and worth a trip. I got a branded LS drifit shirt for under 25$ to remember the visit and that price is great compared to similar spots back in Florida. So yeah, definitely should eat here and possibly grab a shirt and a fishing trip (they'll cook your catch). Be hungry because the portions are great!

What a great morning on the Nancy Anne exploring the beautiful water, viewing land from the bay, and fishing with the very experienced and patient crew mates, Tommy and Haley. I would highly recommend this fishing experience as long as your set your expectations accordingly. For $45 you will have a great boat ride, probably meet some really nice people, and perhaps catch some small croakers and a crab or two. If you want to really get out there and catch the big kahuna - you'll have to book more than a $45 trip. :) The boat is not overly crowded, but there are several lines being dropped in at the same time which will lead to a few tangles - so you'll either be catching a fish or a fisherman. :) If you have the right attitude, don't take it too seriously, and just want to have some fun on the water - go for it! I will absolutely be adding this to my repeat experiences list in Virginia Beach.

Had an absolutely amazing dinner. I had a fresh fish that just came out of the water never tried before it's cold tautog. Extremely fresh, very moist, had potato salad with it the hush puppies had corn very good but let me tell you what that fried crab cake was out of this world and very very happy with the fried crab cake it was definitely not lacking crab meat. The mayonnaise was just very very light not over mayonnaise and I had a cider. Very happy with my whole meal. Honest review - the only good thing was the Caesar salad with tuna. Everything else lacked flavor. The drinks tasted more like sugar than a mixed drink. The service was slow; when we finally decided to walk to the bar from our table to pay and leave after waiting so long for our food (never got a check), we made eye contact with our server talking with a coworker and he still didn’t walk over until we were leaving out the door. I wouldn’t return, however the location/views are great from the outside deck.

Tip: the restaurant entrance is in the back corner of the grocery store. Romillo was such a great server! Greeted us with a smile and suggested I try the stuffed Shrimp! Wow. We haven't been here in awhile and it was so disappointing. I had the Salmon, daughter had the tuna and husband had the rock fish. If it weren't for the lemon slices and salt and pepper on the table, my salmon would have had no Seasoning. My daughter ordered hers blackened and it looked like it was grilled and again, lack of seasoning. Husbands fish was fried and okay but small for the price. They put the fish on top of the fries which made them soggy. Waitress did hush puppies came with the fresh fish dinners but we never saw them. This place used to be so much better.

This is a must do. The link is appetizer was delicious. This was one of the best seafood platters. It was broiled, simply and well prepared. On Mondays, they offer a pound of peel and eat shrimp for $18. A great value.

The Chicken Sandwich needs to be taken from from choice now. Get anything else. The shrimp are the best in town(steamed). The seafood platters are really great also. The staff is always friendly and helpful. They should give a heads up on that chicken sandwich. You have a full bar also. Great place back in the cut. Must try.

I had a grilled tuna and I am not impressed. Very blend in taste. I tried using tartar sauce but didn't help. I do like the placement of the place. It just need to improve on the menu especially the catch of the day dish, it's very important to compliment restaurant settings and vise versa. My compliment relied on the Waitress. She was very polite and professional.

I was put on my kayak all day, and me and my son wanted some food to hold us over until dinner. Out of curiosity we went along the pier side of all these restaurants and dockside was the only one who had a water level, floating pier. So that's how we determined where to eat. The Staff was friendly, it wasn't busy at all(Tuesday around 3-4 pm) and the tuna bites and fries we ordered came out fast and perfect. It has a great view of the inlet as well. The only way this could have been a better or could improve is to add more floating dock that extends toward the water so I can park with the tide and waves.

The service was pretty good, but there were so many people there that the servers couldn't really provide too much attention to a particular table. The worst part of our experience was the cram packed parking lot! Parking was Horrible! It was very difficult just to drive around in the parking lot, much less to park!

The she-crab soup is great! The seafood Alfredo didn't really have a lot of flavor, which was disappointing. Service was wonderful and prices were pretty good. Beautiful view from the back patio, though if the wind is blowing g just right, there was a fowl smell, but this could be due to the fish market. Immediately after walking in the door, I was greeted by the staff and told to choose a seat out on the deck! It was an incredible view that was well matched with excellent food and service. Couldn't help but ask my server for recommendations as she was very knowledgeable of their menu. I plan on coming back here at least once a month to try something new. Thanks for the wonderful meal!

Dockside is always delicious and the service is above par. So nice to eat at a restaurant where the servers know what they are doing. Large parties are no problem here for lunch or dinner the outside area is expansive so there is plenty over covered outdoor seating and picnic tables in the open are for those of us who love our sunshine. Our large group enjoyed the appetizers, lots of hushpuppies with butter and the artichoke spinach crab dip with corn chips. The grilled mahi mahi with roasted potatoes and steamed veggies was the biggest hit at our table today. Crab cakes, steamed crab claws and fried oysters., and flounder were also enjoyed. The coleslaw is better than most restaurants And the salads are huge and so fresh. Always a pleasure to eat at Dockside, and everyone leaves happy and satisfied.

I am only giving a three star review because of the manager/owner. We all ordered food and one person's meal came out cold. It was requested to be fixed and then changed, due to them liking another meal someone had. The manager/owner came out and said that your ticket will be behind everyone else that has ordered so, you will have to wait. In my opinion, terrible service for the manager/owner. Our service came back and apologized for everything and said she would get the meal right out. She was amazing the whole time. She went above and beyond from the very beginning and made sure we had everything before we needed it. And the food was absolutely amazing! Again, the only reason I am giving three stars is because of the manager/owner and the way she handled the entire situation.

Dining on the deck by the water was a nice experience. The crab cake early bird dinner special was good. The greek salad was ok; Very little feta cheese and chuncks of green peppers that are too big and not presentable at all. And I missed my pepperoncinies. I was so glad we could support a small business during this Christmas season. My partner and I bought some jumbo lump crab, and it was very fresh and reasonably priced. The man at the fish counter and the man at the cash register were both super friendly and helpful. The store was clean and well organized, everything looked fresh and was stocked up even though we went later in the evening. I visited this restaurant tonight and ordered one of the Sunrise Specials, the crabcake with cole slaw and french fries. I was extremely disappointed as the crabcake was mostly breading..very little crab. The one positive of this experience was our server, Allison, was wonderful and very attentive. I'm sure I will visit again but not order the crabcake.

Nice atmosphere indoor seating with views of the water. Seafood shop as you go out to pick up fresh for another nights dinner. Service was a little slow and had to run down someone to get more sauce. May have been understaffed that afternoon. Parking is hard to figure out first time but worth the trouble food was good.

**Edit* Last two times we were there the food had definitely gone down a notch. Not sure if they got a new kitchen crew or what but fish was way over cooked. Whole table all 6 adults dishes and even the tuna bites apps.** Place never disappoints. Got the soft shell crab dinner... three lightly battered crabs cooked to perfection! The sauteed veggies and Coleslaw were even outstanding. Hush puppies on point. Someone in our party got the crab cake dinner they looked good too. Do yourself a favor don't buy a dozen crabs/oysters in the restaurant unless you're a tourist... Get a half bushel and do them yourself. Save a bundle and get a ton more.

We were greeted by hostess as soon as we entered restaurant. She got our name and gave us a buzzer to notify us when our table was ready. We got 2 drinks from bar and headed outside to listen to music n sit on deck while we waited. We were seated in about 15-20 minutes. Our table was by the window overlooking the water. We both had a delicious platter of seafood w fish, shrimp, scallops, n crab cake. The food was absolutely amazing. I definitely will be returning to eat again.

My husband and our friends loved every thing they had tho....my meal was a fluke. They made me a new dinner to bring home. We sat outside and listened to music while we waited about 30 minutes for a table which was fine....it was a Friday night and they were busy. The music was very good. The service was excellent. Shrimp were spot on. Went during "happy hour" at 5:30. Service was fine, an attentive knowledgable server answered questions and suggestions. She crab soup was good. Shrimp special was very good. Shrimp were large and cooked perfectly. The only downside is that "happy hour" prices are only good at the bar, which during this visit seemed fully populated by regular clientele.

I will give Dockside full credit as running their business as close to normal with phase 2 restrictions. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean as always. I think this restaurant has the potential to be great. It has awesome location and a great view, but I was very put off by walking through the fresh fish market/ store to get into the restaurant. The fresh fish smell is overwhelming coupled with the old wet smell of the store, it's like walking into an old bait shop. I actually thought I had walked into the wrong place. The place could probably just use a good remodel, where they seperate the restaurant entrance from the store although having the two meshed together is a great concept. Aside from the condition of the restaurant and store, the food was good, but not great in my opinion. I ate there only the once and would be willing to try it again, as I realize sometimes you just pick the wrong thing for your tastes. I got the buffalo shrimp for an appetizer, served with their inhouse made ranch(delicious). The shrimp were big and hearty and buffalo sauce was really good. I then ordered the tuna wrap, the fries were great, but the tuna wrap left something to be desired. The wrap was tuna, spinach, feta and tomatoes. Now, in a wrap I would assume the spinach would be raw and the description did not specify it was cooked. Cooked spinach is watery and bland if not seasoned and it made the wrap soggy and the texture was unappealing, I would go with fresh raw spinach. The tuna however, was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My server was Tracy, she was very friendly and checked on me frequently. She had a good knowledge of the menu, but could not answer questions about available sauces or about the wrap in particular. This seems to be a locals spot and was getting a nice lunch rush as I was leaving.

Best Oysters Rockefeller I've had in years. The shrimp stuffed with crab are also wonderful. I'd love to see flounder or another fish stuffed with crab on the menu. You won't be disappointed, the food is fresh and very good.

It's Dockside alright. Fantastic place to boat and people watch as the parade of Lynhaven Inlet goes by. Unfortunately, the dinning experience we had was lackluster. Kinda mushy for the hype the joint has. Disappointed because there is a seafood market that's attached. Not terrible but I was expecting 5 star.

When visiting I wasn't sure if we went to the right place at first because you walk through a shop/gift shop before getting to the restaurant so that's different! But we were seated fairly quickly, had a great waitress and although our table outside was a bit wobbly (used napkins to prop it haha) the drinks were well made, and the food was delicious. Fried calamari and the sauce was so good- better here than the other restaurants I tried! I had the vodka salmon pasta and it gives you a ton for portion size so I definitely recommend this one if you're starving or want left overs. The nice thing about sitting outside is the view at sunset (you can't see it entirely but when the sun starts to go down the colors of the sky over the water is gorgeous), also they have a dock portion so you can go on there (sans alcohol) to get pictures and just take it in. Definitely recommend

We loved this lively seafood restaurant on the water. We were a party of 12 and seated after a quick 5 minute wait, during which time we browsed the wide variety of fish and shellfish they sell in their store front. It looked VERY fresh! Everyone in our group really enjoyed their meal and the fun on the water atmosphere. We had the 1 lb. steamed shrimp special and delighted in eating the most plump and delicious mound of shrimp I think we have ever had! Their crab cakes were also very respectable. We will come here again the next time we visit our local friends.

The store in the front is quaint and has some cool local artwork and Corky things for visitors, their wine selection is off the chain, and they're fresh seafood market is just adorable!

The best seafood I have ever had. Very fresh seafood, the seafood platter was amazing. Crab cakes are full of crab and just overall incredible and fresh seafood.

When I used to eat flesh, I loved this place. Now I can't eat here because there's nothing on the menu that's vegan. I got the Greek salad without cheese, but it's not a meal and it's very acidic. When I talked to the manager about adding a vegan item to the menu, she wasn't interested in making any accommodations. What a shame! 27% of restaurant eaters are VEGAN. That means that they're missing out on 27% of their business. It's simple to add a black bean burger or hummus wrap. If you like seafood, however, their flounder is always fresh and second to none. The food and service are consistently great. We love sitting outside on the water.

I'm rating the fishing trip this high because of the mates. They were very good. However, it was basically a 2hr boat ride where we stopped and fished a bit. I guess it's just what it is. Baby Croaker. Overall, it seemed most of the trip was the drive out. I'm surprised that one has to go so far to find the small croaker. The boat was clean and the mates were great! The fishing, not so much.

This is a very good place to eat, my wife and I are from the NC coast and the food here rivalled any we have at home. The wait staff are very pleasant and attentive. The view at sunset is amazing. Oh and the crab cakes are great. So the few bad reviews really must be crazy.

Came in and had dinner it was great we had calamari and raw oysters for appetizers they all came out in a timely fashion the calamari was fresh and hot and the oysters were large and salty they were both wonderful. I had the stuff shrimp with my wife had to seafood platter they came shortly after our appetizers and it was great large portions and very fresh go check it out you can't go wrong for your seafood needs

First time of ever going to Dockside Seafood. Had the fried shrimp with red potatoes and seasonal vegetables really fabulous flavors, the shrimp was enormous. Also a very beautiful view of the Lynnhaven Inlet especially during sunset. Our waitress Francis Marie was really awesome. Definitely will plan on going back in the near future.

We were there last night for the entertainment and the sunset. As we were not in the restaurant area, we did not expect food or drink service. Regardless, Nancy took great care of us. The food was good, the drinks cold and both arrived quickly. I have certainly read the previous reviews for Dockside and have experienced some of the disappointments of their posters, but Nancy's performance last night is a good indication that the staff is focusing on good customer service.

Always enjoy going. Their steamed shrimp cannot be beat. We love the atmosphere and regulars. Only way it could be better would be if they had moscato wine and if they made good margaritas. I'd be happy to suggest how to improve the margaritas.

At least we can still visit VB , Chesapeake BAY, our friends as well as Dockside.

Awesome atmosphere! We enjoyed the fish tacos and the kids loved the flatbread pizza! I love that the waitstaff shares everything so if you needed something, anyone could help you, unlike most places where you have to wait for your server.

We've been there twice and both times our server was a no show, waited 15 min for service to start after we were seated. The food is outstanding and so is the view but they need to work on customer service. I understand it gets busy but it's not cool.

Bought steamed crabs to take home. Staff was good. Fast service eventhough it was a holiday and they were swamped with orders. While waiting, went to the bar and had calamari. Delicious! Bartender was so friendly and fast!

Friends took us to Dockside as we had said that we had never been there. I ordered the broiled scallops with cheese and breadcrumbs. The scallops were cooked to perfection. I wasn't sure about the cheese and breadcrumbs part but I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese was lightly toasted and perfect with the scallops. I totally recommend this restaurant.

The oysters Rockefeller and Hatteras clam chowder were delicious! I felt our fresh fish, mahi and cobia, were a little over done and under seasoned. Also, my drink, an Agave smash, was excellent. All staff were wearing masks and social distance seating was good.

Wonderful food and scenic location. Many great choices on the menu and there is a kids menu for those who are interested. There is a store on one side of the restaurant and then the restaurant faces the piers and water. Outside and inside seating. Would visit again for the food and service.

We came by boat to Dockside. Nancy and France Marie really took care of us. We literally went to Porch and waited almost two hours and then was told it would be another 2 hours. We then went to chic's and we're refused service because they were too backed up. We saw dockside and we're like let's just see, we were told initially a 40 minute wait but when I spoke to Nancy about going ahead and ordering our food just to get ahead as it was past 8 at this point, she took it upon herself to go find an additional table and combined two tables outside and took care of us. One of the few that understands business. Going forward if we come over here, we will always go to here for food and drinks. Thanks again, good to have a business/team that understands business and customer relations.

My friend has been going there forever and she suggested it for a lunch date. She loves the crab cake sandwich and says the coleslaw is the best in Virginia Beach. I ordered salmon and it was excellent. I do not like coleslaw but I loved their coleslaw.

We went twice amazing calamari, good value and decent view from outside if you can get a seat. Staff was very friendly but we did ask the bustboy who brought our food at dinner rush for a coke and it took about 15 minutes to get it. Other than that amazing experience.

Fresh food. Good service. Only 4 stars because the parking is wonky and you have to walk through a fish bait store to get in. Easy enough for me, but not as easy for older people or anyone with physical limitations. Buffalo shrimp are excellent. She crab soup was good.

Decided to find a charter boat to go fishing and all the places I found where $90+ per person, and then found this gem. $40/p for 4 hours of fishing was a great deal! Everything was provided and the crew was very nice. Definitely recommend 10/10

If you want right-off-the-boat fresh seafood, this is your place. Great selection of fish and shellfish, and reasonably priced. We frequent the fish market, but have never eaten there, although we have heard good things from those that have.
