If you’re looking for the perfect brunch experience while you’re visiting Virginia Beach, check out Bay Local! The staff is amazing and friendly, the atmosphere is just right and the food is totally worth writing home about! We had the French toast bites to share and the stuffed biscuits and gravy were sublime! You’ll love it here!

Like another reviewer said my party of four was charged the 18% gratuity, which is not a big deal, but their policy says it’s for 6+ and we were not told about the change. I was actually planning on leaving more than 20% but things like this kinda rub the wrong way. Besides this and a forgotten drink the service was good, considering how busy they were at the time. With that aside everything we ordered was delicious and lived up to the hype we heard from friends. Clearly there’s an emphasis on seafood inspired dishes but there’s plenty for those who aren’t friends with the sea. I’m not usually a big seafood guy but the Proper Rock and Banging Balls were killer!

The best brunch place in the area. Lots of parking out front. Short wait and lots of seating. Mimosa was amazing. I recommend any of the inlets. The One Love was a great portion of food. The Kitchen Sink was a good portion as well. Amazing service. I definitely recommended eating here.

After checking into our hotel, we looked for a great place to eat that had sweet and savory items, and this hit the spot! My eyes were glued to the menu when we went for brunch because of their incredible breakfast options (French toast bites, Cinnabon waffles, pancakes), but I decided to get the French toast bites which put me I heaven. We also ordered the Ricky Bobby burger, and man oh man, it was the best burger I've ever tasted! Once you bit into it, you could taste the juices from the burger instantly. As an added bonus, they serve freshly squeezed juices and I opted for the lemonade which was super refreshing. I'd come back here everyday for their brunch if I lived closer!

Get here early or expect to wait. We decided to sit at the bar which brought that to capacity. I see why this place was busy though, the food was really good. I had a watermelon mimosa and it definitely tasted like watermelon, I loved it. Food didn’t take long and pretty good. Highly recommend.

The service was amazing. The staff were so kind. The food to die for. I got the chocolate chip buttermilk pancakes and they were so good I couldn’t finish them so I took them jobs with me. I got their specialty vanilla latte coffee and it was so good and I don’t really like coffee. If I could I would give Bay Local Eatery more than five stars. I will DEFINITELY go back!!!

I love there Just Right Shrimp and grits with added scallops, and the the sorbet mimosas to wash it down. My beautiful cousins enjoyed the chicken and waffle and shrimp po boy. Everything was great the atmosphere was amazing and the staff and waitress was so friendly and fun. 10 out of 10 for brunch.

Was an amazing atmosphere with great and varied food choices. All very delicious. Accommodated my request for boiled eggs(although they were brought to the table UN-peeled). Overall, a great experiu that makes me want to return in order try other menu options....and SOON.

This is our very first time here... It was fabulous!! Food was the best we had in a long time especially post covid! We had to wait for an hour to be seated but it was worth it!! We definitely will be back very soon!

Laskin location- It has a nice outdoor seating/dining area great for sunny days. It does face the parking lot so not a great view. So I suggest you bring some one cute to look at 😉. Really nice unique decor inside. There are large couches and bench style seating but be prepared to pile up next to each other because they get really busy on the weekends and a significant wait time. Expect 45 minutes or more if you have a larger party. Side note.... (Server's were attentive and nice both in the waiting area and at our table despite how busy they were. ) However there are many great options for tasty drinks to help the time go by quickly. The sorbet mimosas are too die for but be careful they go down easy! The menu has so many great options and it'll be hard to choose but any choice will be a declious experience. 10/10 Great experience and can't wait for my next visit back! ~A~

Highly recommend. Checked this out for brunch on a Saturday. Even with it being very busy, had a great experience. It’s a louder environment with how the restaurant is set up. The fresh squeezed OJ was the perfect complement to my ‘Bay Local’ Bennie with fried oysters. We also got the chicken and waffles (subbed French toast which was a great call). We will be visiting again when we are back in the area.

This was one of the best places to eat brunch. I really enjoyed my time here. Unfortunately we came on a Sunday so they weren’t open long enough for us to linger. We ordered the French Toast, Pancakes and drinks. I can honestly say this was a true 5 star experience. The entire front of the house was all women. The host greeted us with a smile as we navigated through the maze of unexplained Knick knacks and greener at the entrance. (I will go over that in a few). The hostess seated us. Our sever touched the table as she handled her other tables. She made some good recommendations and was very patient as we tried to figure out what side of the menu we wanted to order. Everything on the menu was described in such a way that you want to try them all. The portion sizes are ginormous and Jumbo drinks are ridiculous. Everything we had was well cooked. The things I didn’t like was the bartender. There was a big girl behind the counter. She was so obnoxious and loud it was very disturbing to the other guest. The louder the drunk customer got the louder the jokes and laughed. It started to give me a headache. Where is Jon Taffer when you need him? All in all I have No complaints. The food exceeded my expectations. Now, let’s talk about finishing the place. It’s really confusing on the first visit. It sits in the middle of a shopping strip and it’s really hard to see because there are so many distractions. The front needs a gardener and exterior designer. I stared at the front of the building for awhile until I understood the opening wasn’t to Walmart Garden department. I’m literally allergic to everything so fighting my way to the door was interesting. I’m not sure if it was real or not but it was just an uncomfortable feeling and it makes them look closed. The place is cluttered with things you find in a 1600s garage sale. I see where they were trying to go, but it needs a little more strategic layout. As the staff was closing for the night, you don’t feel rushed but you to feel an urgency to move your leg as they sweep around you. Our server was the bees knees. She even asked us if we wanted anything else 20 mins before closing. Although we saw the kitchen staff/food runner in the front, packed and ready to bust through the door. We had a great time and loved everything about this place as strange as it sounds. This was perfect for a he weirdo in all of us.

This Bay Local Eatery is located along Laskin Rd. in the Linkhorn Shoppes Shopping Center. You can into this shopping center through a traffic light at Oriole Dr. My most recent visit here was on December 12, 2022. My mom and I got here around 8:30 am. We wanted to get in before the early bird specials ended at 9 am. The inside of the place is typical of most restaurants. There are a few bar areas, as well as tables and booths available. Since this is during the holidays, there are some holiday decorations throughout the place too. It wasn't too busy on this visit. One of the reasons I wanted to come back was because they will be opening a new location soon, which will be much closer to where I live. The newest location will be on General Booth Blvd. where Pizza Hut used to be. After getting seated, within a moment or two, our server came to the table and asked about what we wanted to drink. I went with a sweet tea this time since I don't do that very often any longer. After a few moments, our server came back over with the drinks and asked if we were ready. We weren't quite ready, but she showed us the early bird specials menu. After another moment or so, we were ready to order, so I let her know while she was over by the bar. We both went with items on the early bird menu, which is available at a reduced price from 8 am to 9 am Monday through Thursday. I ended up going with the Cheddar Bacon Omelet with parmesan tots and my mom went with the Original Benedict with home fries. About 8 to 10 minutes later, our orders came to the table. Everything looked good and started to dig in. The cheddar omelet was good, along with the fried biscuit, but the omelet wasn't hot; it was still warm though. The fried biscuit was really good. My mom said the Original Benedict wasn't hot either. She had hers with the home fries, but she was not a fan of those, as they were basically like fries. Our server did ask if we needed anything, but she was doing so on her way to another table to get drinks delivered, so we never had a chance to say anything. I also want to note that there is an automatic 18% gratuity added to all checks. Overall, this was still a good place to go. I think they were just understaffed that morning. They do have a good menu of items available, as they are a breakfast/brunch type of place. I will also note that a few of the ones that were there also seemed to be regulars, as it seemed they were prioritized to a point. It may not have been intentional, but that was the perception. Even though we weren't able to address the issues that day, I would still try them out again in the future at their new location when it opens, as it will be much closer to me.

First time here with my friend Sally. We both had the Asian Grilled Chicken Skewer Salad and it was delicious!! The Brownis Sundae in a Martini glass is very rich & sweet.

Everything was delicious! Great friendly service! You must try the Green Apple Mimosas & they have the best French Toast in the area if you order the Jamaican Rum French Toast. Typically a long wait, especially on the weekend but soooo worth it!

Our experience at Bay Local was a great one. From the moment we walked in and were greeted by the very friendly hostess to the moment we left we felt right at home. The place is very beautifully decorated. We had a short five minute or so wait and we waited on the very comfortable and cozy, leather couches situated in the front of the restaurant. We went on a Saturday morning, and there were a fair amount of people at around 0900, but the wait time for food was extremely reasonable and the wait time to be seated was negligible. M Our server was super friendly, and we noticed the other servers interacting with their tables were equally as friendly. We had a little bit of a strange order in our server, accommodated it to keep it as expensive as possible for us, which was a nice touch. I’m not sure why, but even for our party of two, 18% gratuity was automatically added to our pretty small bill. However, it was absolutely not an issue. I just wanted to make sure to throw that out there for you folks looking to visit. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good breakfast spot in Virginia Beach. We would definitely not hesitate to go back.

Overall a fun, good restaurant. We came on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and had to wait maybe 20-30 minutes. The food was tasty, mostly pretty standard breakfast fare but you can get some interesting seafood options as well (e.g. crab cake benedict). If you want fun brunch drinks this is the place to go - they have very good mimosas and bloody mary’s. It’s a great place to go with a bunch of friends. I would gladly go back next time I’m in Virginia Beach.

Not from around the area so this was a travel stop for us. It was about an hour wait but they have a adorable comfotable waiting area which I thought was really unique. Really loved eating here! All the food was delicious & my steak was cooked perfect. The bathrooms were clean and the environment was so welcoming. we had an excellent server who i unfortunately can't remember her name but she wore glasses (me too🤓) & was so kind. I wanna say Rachael but idk if thats right!! ♥️ would love to visit here again when we come back!!

Great breakfast/brunch selection. The French toast is amazing. The seafood omelette is very delicious as well. The mimosas come plentifully and will ensure a glowing start to your weekend (or weekday) morning. The staff are very hospitable and down to earth. Food was amazing. Great portions. Good drinks. Wasn't aware they charge $1 to add grapefruit juice to make a greyhound because they didn't tell me. I asked for my tab and was told a price. Had to ask for an itemized bill. Oh, and they also add 18% to the tab BEFORE taxes. Would've tipped 30-40% because of the food and service but you told me I only had to tip 18, so.... Going back is still up in the air.

First thing we noticed was the decorations live plans and lots of interesting fun lamps, deer skulls. The coffee was good and strong! My wife had the seafood omlet, where I had the "kitchen sink'. Would recommend if you need string coffee, or a full stomach.

Loved the atmosphere! The decor was well done. It was 12:30 on Monday and the place was busy and the service was great. My husband and I enjoy a good Bloody Mary. Bay Local Eatery hits the mark! It's flavorful and has a nice variety goodies with it. We had the crab cake bennie and proper rock, plenty to share.

1st visit here with family while visiting the VA beach area and we were all very pleased! As an appetizer I chose the 'Poppin Champagne fried shrimp' w/ a crazy good Cajun aioli 🍤, and I can only say is YUMMY 😋. They definitely didn't stay on the plate very long lol. For my meal; I had this turkey/avocado/bacon type on pita bread w/ seasoned tator tots; and yet again, YUMMY!! There were 7 of us total including my oldest grandson (4 yrs old) all trying various items; including the 'Reuben', 'Hot smoked turkey/bacon & cheddar and more, and we were all very satisfied with our dinner choices. Needless to say; I'll definitely be returning on my next trip to VA. Beach, think I found my very first "Fave" spot out there. 😊😘 $$$

We had a party of 12 with us for breakfast (still celebrating our Sailors homecoming). They were very accommodating to our large party. Servers were friendly, and order process was smooth. Food was amazing. We had a wonderful time and we all enjoyed our food.

Due to Covid they have expanded and have done covered outside seating. If you are coming for brunch on the weekend, make sure to get here early as the wait times are around an hour. It’s definitely very popular, the food is good, and the drinks are amazing!Try out the sorbet mimosa or if you’re feeling adventurous try the big jumbo mimosa which can be shared with your party. I wish we had better seating but, you get what you get when there are so many people waiting and it’s the only thing available. If I do come back to visit it will most likely be during the week day. The food is good but you are mostly paying for your environment.

Both my wife and I really enjoyed our food. I had the blackened/Cajun shrimp wrap, and my wife had the avocado, ham, turkey, and bacon grilled pita sandwich. The restaurant was a little noisy, but otherwise really nice. The service was solid. 18% is built in even for a party of two.

It was so nice to see this place was opened. It was a bit rainy but they had some outdoor covered seating. They also had seating inside. I highly suggest making a reservation before showing up. It gets really busy and there’s limited seating due to social distancing. When you first walk in they are very helpful and kind. Everyone checks on you while you wait. We decided to order to go because it was so busy. So we ordered and then moved the car to their pickup spot. While waiting for our food someone even checked on us. I thought that was cute and even greater service. The food came out very quickly. They remember the ranch my bf even ordered and gave us utensils in case we wanted to just eat in the car. The whole order was correct. As for as the food, it was delicious. My steak was perfectly cooked to medium. It had great flavor. I shocked with how much food they give you. My bf said his crab cake bene was great as well. And even the pancake he got with it was ginormous! Everything was delicious and hot the spot. I highly recommend coming to eat here. The service and food is great!!!

A brunch beast! I’m so sad to say that this was my first time here and I’m from Virginia Beach😂 My boyfriend chose Bay Local because of the jumbo mimosas. He heard great things from some of his friends so it was a no brainer for brunch. We dined here on January 31st. We were right up the street when it started to rain/snow so I appreciated the pagers because we were able to wait in the car. We had the choice of indoor or outdoor (tented seating) and chose indoor. When we first arrived we were told our wait would be about 30-45 minutes but it only ended up being about 10 minutes. Cons: -Honestly the only thing I can think of was the difficulty with reaching the mimosa to drink it. We sat at an elevated booth and standing up and trying to drink the mimosa from the straws caused a few little spills. It was way easier to manage the drink when I brought it down to my lap Pros: -Our waitress (Jackie) was great! I’m indecisive when I have so much to choose from and she gave us great food recommendations. She also gave the perfect recommendations for our mimosa…she even took pictures for us -The mimosa! I’m pretty sure we chose lemon & raspberry sorbet for our mimosa and it didn’t disappoint. It was just the 2 of us and it was definitely worth the money -The food, everything was great. The crab balls had so much flavor. The fried chicken breasts on both my sandwich and my boyfriend’s entree were cooked well. Our waitress recommended an aioli for my sandwich and it was the right amount of spice. It’s hard to decide what I enjoyed most but I highly recommend the Parmesan garlic tater tots. There was also some kind of fried biscuit that came with my boyfriend’s entree that I pretty much ate by myself 😂 I can’t wait to go here again! Hopefully I try something new but I’m glad I finally got to experience this establishment as I’ve heard so much about it.

Loved Bay local 1st time there went for my grandson 20th birthday brunch food was very good and you get alot blueberry waffles were over the Top! Delicious! The service was great, the waitress was so sweet and courteous. And yes I would come back again and tell a friend.

Great brunch spot, our group of 4 will definitely be returning to Bay Local! We dined in one of the outside tents which was chilly but still enjoyable, the food and service never disappoint! I had the Hangover which was fantastic, it included steak, eggs, pancake, fried biscuit, parmesan tater tots and a Budweiser in a brown paper bag, lol, my son drank the beer and had leftovers to bring home! Hubs had a delicious bowl of shrimp and grits with extra scallops, our son had the crab cake Benedict and our DIL really liked her bacon wrapped scallop Benedict, we would certainly recommend all these dishes plus the mimosas and Bloody Mary’s!

This is one of my top five restaurants in Virginia Beach. The food is extraordinary and the drinks are amazing. The only problem with this place is the customer service. My orders always missing something and the waitress sometimes got attitude. I had to wait for the waitress for more than 20 minutes to finish a conversation with another clients. I said excuse me twice and she ignored me. I didn’t mean to be rude or anything like that or interrupt the conversation but I was waiting for my bill for long time. Another occasion I asked a different waitress to add some bacon and some extra olives in my bloody Mary and she ignored me as well. They need to improve customer service because clients can stop in coming. Again, food and drinks are amazing.

Two words: fried biscuits! Lol so good. It was recommended by our waiter and I'm glad i tried it. I also tried a specialty mimosa which was amazing. I came here to catch up with a friend and we had an amazing breakfast and time. The staff was friendly and food came out in a timely manner. Took my husband to the Bay Local on Laskin for the first time. Have always gone to the Shore Drive location. Food was amazing! Service was over the top! ❤❤❤ Loved seeing the kitchen helping out getting food out to customers since the servers were busy. Servers helping eachother out! Don't see that much anymore. Even the what I believe was the manager helping out. Best service we have gotten anywhere in a very long time.

The wait is astronomical but for a GREAT reason! This place is fabulous!!!! While waiting, you can order your freshly squeezed mimosas which are AAAAAHHHHMAAAZING!!! I LOVE this place. A few reasons: 1. The food was the best! The chicken and waffles I had were crispy and savory. 2. The service was amazing. Our server (I forgot his name) was humorous, but kind at the same time. He provided everything that we needed/wanted. 3. Our seating was outstanding. The view of the streets and the comfortable chairs really put it over the top. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at the Local Bay Eatery. But, there were two flaws: flies (which is normal) and waiting time. It took an hour to get seated, and flies were flying most of the tome. Well, I can't complain. This place will be on my brunch list for a VERY long time. 🤯😍😁😌

Fantastic spot! I love that they have brunch all day. I got the chicken and waffles with scrambled eggs and tater tots. The chicken and waffles was one of the best I’ve had yet! The tots were also great. I ordered takeout because of COVID so I guess I can’t really speak to the service aside from the fact that picking up my food was easy. They have set up a cool little “patio” in the parking lot that makes the best of a bad situation. I’m sure it would be nice to have a meal out there! Next time I’m in VA Beach I’ll be sure to get food here - hopefully in person.

Bay Local Eatery, it is the best breakfast/brunch place in Virginia Beach. You can order anything on the menu and it will taste delicious. Also, they have a genius at the oyster bar very dedicated and you can tell he loves what he does... (would be nice if they did an oyster night once in the week) I love the huge BLT and the Salmon LT... They have pretty good Bloody Mary but I think they could definitely pimp them up some more. I like this location more then the shore drive one, they have a nice seating area to wait for your table assignment... usually waiting time is 30-45 mins. The location is right on laskin road, with lots of parking and parking is free! Staff is always friendly, took my dog once and they took good care of him love and cuddles included! There are two locations, but I went to the one on Laskin Rd this time. The Shore Drive location is awesome too, but I haven’t been there in many years. Definitely a must eat place!

Bay Eatery is so good, I took my friends traveling from out of town to their 2nd location because the main location was book solid with low staff and had to close early. We traveled 15 minutes to the 2nd location and waited 1.5 hours. When I tell you it was worth the wait... It was worth the wait... Ohh! And the Bay Mimosa is a must try. Food was delicious, we got the banging balls, short rib, and the Joey sandwich. Banging balls were crab balls with cheese on top and spicy-ish aioli (very tasty). Short rib was melt in your mouth tender (some pieces were saltier than others...) and the potatoes it came with paired perfectly. The Joey was good too, nice and juicy chicken, but the tater tots were a bit soggy. We had the smores cheesecake for dessert which is locally sourced, and also very good.

I recently went to Bay Local Eatery for brunch with my daughter for the first time and we loved it! We loved the way the restaurant was decorated and we really loved the food! I had a Grapefruit Mimosa and it was delightful, just the right amount of grapefruit juice for me. We were blown away by this place. The decor is interesting and inviting, the menu has some great options, the food was outstanding and portions were enormous! The coffee was also really good, something that can be hard to find at breakfast spots nowadays. Natalie was awesome, as well! After eating here once I'm already planning on coming back and recommending it to friends! Their prices are about the same as most, $10-15 for most items and the portions are pretty generous. This was my first time visiting and I was not disappointed at all. I ordered the Crab Bennie with parmesan tots. It was very delicious however I didn't get much parmesan on the tots. The atmosphere was great. I absolutely loved all the decor! I think the time of turning tables could be improved by following up a little sooner. My table and another guest had to flag someone down to get checks. Overall I'd say this place is great if your out to sit back and relax with a few drinks not so much for lunch breaks!

When I think Brunch, I think Bay Local! I have recently converted all my friends and family to this place! Perfect place for southern breakfast food with a modern twist! Also a great alternative for vegetarian/pescatarian diets! I had the Light Tower Omelet which has shrimp and crab, and I added the scallops. It was heavenly!! OH MY GOSH! Where do I start? For starters, we went during Hurricane Dorian as they were open because of their massive generator! The inside is so fabulous! The ambiance is perfect from the unique decorations to the awesome classic music! Our server, who is also a manager, Charlotte was AMAZING. So sweet and informative! I visited the location on laskin dr, 2 days ago, I was not completely satisfied after I looked up the previous reviews on google. The first impression when I walked in with quick greetings and the rush to seat you down, it feels like we need to get done quickly as possible. The decor is quite dated, our waitress, it seems very aggressive and not smiling at all, it seems stressed out or overwhelming by the amount of work on friday night. The food was not that great, and it was not hot enough like it should be, plus it is quite pricey. Last but not least the forceable 18% added tips to your bill which was written on the menu and was mention in unpleasant tone from our waitress. I completely understand how badly the food industry got hit by the pandemic, and the workforce at the restaurant need to recover but forcing the tip to the bill to certain amount is not a great idea. I wish the management to this restaurant take apause and work on improve the quality of food and service. Thank you.

My husband and I were in VA beach for our 1 year wedding anniversary and we came to Bay Local Eatery twice. The food and the drinks were amazing! It took coming here for my husband to get a proper bourbon drink "The Gentleman" served correctly with a large ice cube. We had dinner at several NICE/highly rated restaurants and none of them made a proper cocktail. The Bay Mimosa is also a must try. Thank you to our waitress Katie who was super attentive. Not only did she make the best drinks, she also knew exactly what we needed before we ever had to ask. We will definitely be back the next time we visit.

This is one of those places deserving of all 5 stars. It's hard to say anything other than this place will live up to your expectations. The food is absolutely delicious, excellent menu, it is a rather large menu though, and shareable portions. I will say the portions are huge and yes you can share, but the food is so good you will clean your plate every time. Beautifully decorated, and great atmosphere. Some days of the week they have two dollar mimosas at brunch. I will definitely return here again for mimosas and brunch, and introduce more people to this amazing eatery.

I had a shrimp omelette and the eggs were super fluffy and just seemed to melt in my mouth. We also had one of the super big mimosas. It was three of us and it was amazing. We barely finished it. Totally worth every cent we paid for it. Speaking of prices things were not too expensive. We were there during happy hour so all appetizers and drinks were half off (except the big monster mimosa we had). We got our monies worth for sure. Definitely recommend to anyone who is in the area. Several friends and I had brunch this past Sunday at Bay Local on Laskin Rd. They don’t take reservations or do call ahead seating, so we already had prepared ourselves for a wait. It was an hour wait time, no wait area, so we sat in the car. It was worth every minute of the wait! We also had driven nearly an hour to get there from Hampton too, and again, it was worth the drive and the wait. Our waitress Jackie was incredible. She was efficient, knowledgeable, friendly, and made excellent recommendations. The Bay Mimosa was delicious. It had Malibu in it and also a scoop of sorbet, which melted and made for a chilled creamy delicious concoction. My friend loved his so much he had two. I switched over to a spicy Bloody Mary made with Zing Zang and lots of add ins, for a nice thick consistency. The heat was perfect, and the old bay rim really set the flavors off nicely. We did witness another table struggling with the jumbo group cocktail, the mega mimosa. The glass was an oversized wine glass, and it was too tall, even with the long brightly colored bendable straws used. The guests had to stand up and lean over every time they wanted a sip, so most of the drink ended up just staying in the goblet, as it was a little inconvenient to get to. The food was incredible. My breakfast sandwich was called the Big Country and it was perfect. Fried chicken breast, slice of cheddar, crispy bacon, and scrambled egg. It came with a side of Parmesan tater tots that were so good. It was a great portion. Not too big, and not too small. We all left so pleasantly full and happy. We definitely will be back, and we definitely will look for Jackie to be our server if possible too. She was so engaging and fun, we really wished she could have joined our table for brunch!

We were here on vacation for my wife's birthday. This restaurant came highly recommended by our friends who either live here or have eaten here during past travels. The food was excellent! There is an upcharge of $3 for items that include crabmeat however, the crabmeat was so plentiful and DELICIOUS we suggested that the upcharge be $7. The drinks were excellent and strong. Downside is that our server charged us an 18% gratuity on our check, and there were just 2 of us. The menu stated that an 18% gratuity may be added to parties of 6 or more. That was disheartening. It made us feel like our server was expecting that we weren't going to tip well. Our plan was to leave $20, which would have exceeded the 18%, but we felt taken advantage of. We ordered two entrees, an appetizer, and 6 drinks. Why wouldn't we tip well? We left disappointed and decided to give the difference to our valet parking attendants back at the hotel on top of the tip we already had set aside for them. All in all it was a wonderful food experience but tip what you want because they are going to charge you regardless.

Absolutely LOVE this place!!! Uncovered this gem when my wife & I decided to pop in before catching some live music at the Neptune Festival. Having never been before we didn't really know what to expect, but we were definitely pleasantly surprised! The inside is decorated beautifully & has a really cool vibe going and the staff is super helpful & friendly..This place is obviously very popular because while we were seated & served straightaway, it was quickly packed..As it turned out, we couldn't have timed our visit any better as Happy Hour had just started and they have some great H.H. specials, including all appetizers half off! The food was great & the portions were larger than we were expecting. We ended up having 2 drinks each & shared 4 apps; order of 10 wings, Chip & Dip trio, mozzarella sticks and tempura shrimp skewers (and no, we couldn't finish 'em all!) The total bill before tip was only $35!!! We will definitely be back! Special shout-out to our server Stephanie H., you were awesome!

I have gone here twice in the last couple of weeks and both experiences have been exceptional. Did online ordering the first time which was seamless and the second time just went straight there after work which was just as good. Great social distancing techniques being utilized and all of the employees are wearing masks, a clear indication that Bay Local is taking all precautions in this environment. The food is really nicely executed and you get a lot of value for your money. My last trip had Da Club and I could not finish it. It ended up being lunch, dinner and breakfast the next day. Not bad at all for the price point. While large it is also thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

For some reason, I thought Bay Local only had breakfast and I knew that this location had an insanely long wait time on weekends from time to time. I started to follow them on Instagram and saw that they do indeed have dinner items so I drug my boyfriend there to try their Coastal Virginia Burger and it was AMAZING. I loved it. One of the top five I've ever had for sure. It gets really really loud inside at dinner with the bar scene and tables so be prepared to scream across the table to your friend or partner if you go. I don't drink so that was something I didn't especially love but it was great for people watching. I love the decor inside, it's eclectic and the stained glass back-lit window behind the bar area is beautiful. I've had brunch here one time and enjoyed it, though the coffee drink special I ordered from their Instagram wasn't what I got and they clearly had no idea what I was talking about, otherwise our entrees were delicious and our server was super friendly.

The food was fantastic! It was crowded due to it being Mother's Day. A free mimosa and flowers for moms. The servers were attentive and friendly. The wait was long but not as long as expected. They said 1 1/2 hours but only ended up being 35-40 minutes. The setting is eclectic with a touch of rustic and big comfy couches in the waiting area. Very nice. Will definitely go again.

Literally the greatest brunch place of all time. I always get a Bloody Mary and an omelette. The last time I was here, I tried the shrimp and grits and holy mother they were so good -unlike any other. They have the cutest decor and everyone is always super friendly. The wait to eat can take a bit depending on when you arrive but they serve drinks while you wait and once you sit your food comes out incredibly fast. So glad we finally insured this gem! If you blink while you're driving, you could miss it. The restaurant is cozy but they do have space for live music performances. Our server was very attentive and kept our drinks filled. Oldest had the avocado grilled pita sandwich with turkey and ham, which he enjoyed.

Brunch Review: Benedicts have the option of being served on a toasted English muffin or French bread and option of home fries or garlic Parmesan tots BAY LOCAL BENEDICT $12.99 Fried oysters topped with our signature Rockefeller mix, applewood smoked bacon and Parmesan. *oysters were super juicy and crispy and a generous portion, I opted for the French bread which I loved how crispy and chewy it was and a nice spin on the traditional English muffin, the garlic Parmesan tots could have used more seasoning CRAB CAKE BENEDICT $13.99 Two pan seared crab cakes topped with crispy applewood smoked bacon. *crab cakes had a nice flavor, not too much filler, preferred the fried oyster over the crab cake SORBET MIMOSAS: Regular - $6.50 is served in a champagne flute Jumbo - $8.99 is served in a wine glass *I tried both the strawberry and the mango and definitely preferred the strawberry, the mango didn't have much flavor We received both benedicts about 20 minutes after we placed the order but the eggs were not poached they were almost completely cooked with no runny egg. Our server took back the benedicts and said she would get new ones out. I would have actually been okay with them just bringing out 4 new poached eggs because we were starving. The wait was extremely long for the new set of benedicts, about 25 minutes based on the photos I took. They were nice enough to give half off on one of the benedicts but I was very pressed for time so new eggs would have been the more efficient option. I would come back and try more of their menu especially if I'm not in a rush!

Another awesome spot in Virginia Beach! Great breakfast and sandwiches! Daily drink specials. Place is always busy, but don't have to wait long to be seated. I generally come here around lunch time. The place has a pretty big bar with people who know how to make cocktails. Haven't been here in the evening but based on some of the signage, I believe this place turns into a nice spot to grab a drink on nights and weekends.

Never knew this place existed on Laskin Rd right before the Oceanfront. An nice little joint to get breakfast at. The staff was friendly and very helpful in helping out on dishes. Love this place.. Tachos are my wife's and my daughter's favorite. I like them too. My favorite is Oysters Rockefellers Bennie, or the the Bay local burger comes with a crab cake. My sister's favorite is the Shrimp and Grits add scallops.. My least favorite is the Jamaican the Rum french toast; not much bang for your buck. The place is great though, the staff is friendly always. The owner is really nice and approachable. We drive 30 -40 minutes to get here. My family likes it

Some of the best brunch by the beach! The overall ambiance of this location is stellar and consists of a mixture of chic antiques and eclectic bobbles, overall a groovy place to enjoy some great food. The food itself is absolutely stellar! With drink options ranging from loaded bloody Mary's and sorbet mimosas (my personal favorite) to your more run of the mill juices and coffee. You can't go wrong ordering anything off of the menu, but if you're a seafood lover I highly recommend the Willis wharf special omelet. The parmesan tater tots are also really great and compliment much of the menu, but if you're offered the fried biscuit, TAKE IT! I could honestly go on forever about this location, but all you need to know is the directions to get there, because it's more than worth the visit!

I'm actually sad I had discovered this place just before I left VB. It's a gem. The bar is outside and you can admire the water while enjoying a local craft beer or just your regular domestic choice. We hadn't tried the food as it was late, but from what I hear, it's pretty amazing. Guess you just have to go and try it. Oh, watch out for dolphins, folks! Dear Bay Local Eatery, I've heard so much about you and it was so nice that we finally met. Just even "meet you", there was a waiting period but it was worth it. I came in on a Sunday after church, wanting to finally live the hype. Previously, I wanted to take my dad here for Father's Day, however when I called they said it was a two hour wait. So we decided to come back another time. When I came in to put my name on the list, the hostess said it was an hour wait. They gave us one of those buzz buzz things and we actually sat in our car. During the wait, I went inside and used the rest room. The decor was so niiiice. We ended up coming inside. We sat on the cool comfy couches and Courtni ended up asking if we wanted to get started on drinks. I was okay but my dad order a sweet tea Arnold Palmer. He said it was very good. We then got seated around the 45 minute mark which wasn't bad at all. It's always good when it's less time than stated. Julia greeted us at our table. I heard so many different types of appetizers to get and I couldn't pick. We ended up getting the Banging Balls and Calamari to start off. My mom also got a pomegranate mimosa. Apparently it was strong, but hey. GREAT. For the main course, Julia showed us the specials for the day. They had so many different menu options just from that list. My mom ended up getting bacon wrapped scallops with fries and coleslaw. My dad got the breakfast burrito (he saw someone have it to the table next to us). I got the "Just Right". Everyone loves shrimp and grits, but Bay Local, does there's a little different. The "Just Right" is Shrimp and Grits sautéed with onions and sweet peppers over cheese grits, topped with crispy applewood smoked bacon, and smokey sausage. It was very good. I can tell the peppers were very fresh because they had that crunch. You can also add scallops to this order for an additional price, however I did not. My overall experience was great. Julia really took care of us. She made sure that our drinks were always filled and always checked if we needed anything. The service was also fast & efficient. I will be baaack to try more things!

Good service and really good food. Wait was long but well worth it. A lot of small changes/variations to menu items were extra (e.g. like where bacon was served, asking for turkey bacon costed extra - really!)

The french toast is amazing, not just because of the taste, but the texture too. The manmosa's can be perfect, but it depends on who mixes it. The smoked salmon bennie's are good. The Tot-cho's are great, but would've been divine if they came with more cheese sauce. The Big Al was a big disappointment.

Alrighty....I show up two drinks in. I'm like okay lets try this some good reviews. Theres a 45 minute wait...screw it let's do this. Two minutes later they are serving up adult beverages. Im sold already, I mean what place makes the almost hour wait a blast. Then I sit down and the chicken and waffles blows my mind. Crispy on the outside moist on the inside like most good things in life. I can't say enough just do it like shea lebuff says.

Freakin love this joint. Katie you're awesome, already knew what I wanted before i told her. Willis wharf omelette...i think it's called. But this big guy is filled w Rockefeller style spinach mix, like stuffed with greens and cheese, then topped w bacon a few jumbo fried oysters. I finished it. No shame. It's seriously HUGE! I dont come here often but when I do it always exceeds expectations...oh and try the fried sweet biscuit. You're welcome

This place shines for breakfast. Food is always good, staff is always friendly and attentive. Bar and drinks are great. One small flaw, and easily fixed, dinner. Dinner seems a bit over priced for what you actually receive. Also, why isnt the Veggie burger alao on the dinner menu? Just an FYI as well, make sure to ask if parmesan cheese is added, they like to put parmesan on everything, even though its not listed on the menu.

The service and atmosphere here is great but the fpod is not as good as I expected. First, we waited for about 20 mins, probably more because my driend and I were talking and didn't count, then here comes pur food. I ordered the specials: Fresh Carolina Bacon Wrapped Scallops with Benedict(12.99), and my ordered the Jamaican Dark Rum French Toast. I tried my friend's french toast and it was really good. The bread is thick and soft inside, and the outside is crunchy with a taste of cinnamon sugar. They are lucky that I enjoyed the sides of my dish so I didn't give them a too bad review: benedict is well-cooked, the hollandaise sauce is perfect, the potatos tasted pwrdext with some diced green pepper and onions BUT I'm disappointed with the main character of it: the bacon wrapped scallops. The scallops and the bacon are apart from each other because the bacon are too crispy. If I'm just eating the bacon itself I would prefer that but not on this dish. The scallops has the taste of ammonia, which I know many companies and supermarkets use that on old seafood to make them sellable. I think I'll give them another shot by trying other food on the menu because the sides of my dish and my friend's drench toast are really good. Here is a suggestion for them: If they're buying their seafood and cook it right away then they might want to change their supplies. If they are the ones who put ammonia, just don't because you stated that it's "Fresh" on your menu.

The minimum wait time is 35 mins if you get there at a good time. If you go during the rush the wait is about an hour. It's very crowded and loud inside the restaurant. The food and the drinks are very good.
