Friendly staff and good food. Walked in and was immediately greeted by the staff. It's a cozy restaurant that can fill up quickly. We ordered a grilled cheese sandwich, fruity French toast, western omelet, hash browns, bacon, and a sode of fruit, with strawberry lemonades. The food came out relatively quickly. Everything was at the right temperature and was tasty. The pricing is also very reasonable.

First time here and it was amazing! I ordered the Sally pancakes and it was so delicious and filling. Also the home fries are a must! My son is such a picky eater but he ate all his breakfast! He got the mini pancakes and absolutely loved them too. We will be back! Highly recommend. Great atmosphere as well and everyone was very kind and caring.

Food was DELICIOUS! The Shelly’s French toast with fresh fruit was phenomenal. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Not a crumb was left on the plates! Friendly service was the cherry on top. Our party of 12 was very pleased! We will most definitely be back!

My friend and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast together. Our waiter was VERY good and helpful and friendly. Our food was delicious 😋 My friend enjoyed an omelette and breakfast potatoes and a lovely fruit salad. I loved the banana caramel french toast and extra bacon 🥓 so I could bring some leftovers.💖😋

First time trying out this little place. I got the grilled club sandwich with homefries; the portions are huge. I was a little bit disappointed that there were limited options for the lunch menu. I quickly realized it was more of a breakfast Cafe so I hope to come back sometime and try out that side of the menu. The dining area was well kept and our waiter was very fast. A little to fast though, as he buzzed by it was hard to get his attention to ask for refills. Nevertheless, it was a great experience and I hope to come back.

My friend recommended this place. The quality of the food and prices cannot be beat. We also ordered some fruit as a side and it was literally fresher and prettier than fruit plates I've received in 5 star hotels! If you need a good spot for breakfast and delicious eats, you best come here!

This little cafe is amazing and their sign did not lie. Their fried chicken sandwiches were amazing on Texas toast with their secret sauce. I had their fruit salad as a side(bananas, strawberries and blueberries) and the bonus is it came with caramel dipping sauce and my wife had their fries which were seasoned and she said were delicious. I didn't even get a chance to take a picture before we both started digging in. The sweet tea was perfectly sweetened and ice cold. Highly recommend if you are passing through. Their breakfasts looked delicious too, especially Shelly's French toast. We will have to go back for breakfast next time.

Our first time here.. Came in with my wife I ordered the pancake combo. Everything was perfect. The eggs and bacon were EXACTLY how I wanted them. The coffee was fresh. My wife ordered a grilled cheese and French fries. She was happy too. We will be back to try other things in the future❤️❤️❤️

A popular loacl cafe. Usually very beasy in the morning. Their breakfast menus are quite good. I tried shrimp omelet, french toast and home fries. The hone fries and the omelet was delicious.

If you’re looking for that hometown diner feel in the midst of Tampa Bay’s urban sprawl, Shelly’s Cafe has your morning fix. They have kid-friendly offerings, standard breakfast fare, and the occasional special (my favorite was chicken and French toast). The service is quick but you should come early as they fill up on weekends. Staff are great and Jimmy, the owner, is frequently around to greet guests and ensure your breakfast or brunch is on point. I’ve been coming to Shelly’s for the past four years and fully intend keep coming back.

We had a great brunch with friends at Shelly's! The food is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. I got the Shelly's French toast combo, which I would highly recommend. The fruit was fresh and plentiful, and we ended up with leftovers to take home, as the portions are hearty. We'll definitely go back!

the service was good, i didnt really like the french toast personally - but everything else was good. I probably won’t come back unless my husband wants the cheese grits; he loved them! Lol

The service was excellent. Food was good. I got the crispy chicken sandwich. It had 3 large chicken tenders on it that were crispy and crunchy. The sauce was good, but could have been more tangy. The french fries were nice and crispy, but I had ordered them extra crispy, so yours might be softer. They were seasoned well. I also got the beneiet bites. They were slightly too crunch, almost like hush puppies rather than the soft pastries you would expect. They needed a sauce instead of only powered sugar. I ended up adding strawberry jelly to mine. The place was too tightly packet with tables and people kept bumping up against my chair. It's not a good place to go and have a quiet conversation or to relax. Expect a busy diner feeling. A waiter said they were actually slow at that time compared to normal and I already felt like it was too packed.

This is the 2and visit to the restaurant. Google isn't reflecting the first so this will cover both, lol. Shelly's is a small restaurant with huge flavor. Everything is hot and fresh and is AMAZING! I love breakfast/brunch meals and its Shelly's for the win. Prices are reasonable and the staff, they are both so friendly. They make you feel like you've known them forever. I've already returned, but I'll be back again.

One of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve ever had. I enjoyed that there was ample cheese in every single bite. Potatoes at breakfast weren’t very good at all. The buffalo chicken sandwich is not better than Popeyes as advertised. Service is very friendly and fast.

Loved Shelly's! This was out first time here and everything was great. The staff was very friendly and attentive. There were a lot of regulars who popped in and they knew everyone by name and I think that speaks volumes. We ordered the Shelly's Pancake combo, Banana Nut combo (bananas are baked into the batter, yum!), and the Western omelette.

First time here and I am VERY impressed!! The cutest spot with the best breakfast in Tampa. I ordered French Toast combo and added some breakfast potatoes and everything was cooked to perfection. It knocks every spot I’ve been to out of the park. French toast is my fav breakfast item and it was cooked with the perfect amount of crisp. Thank you to Diane P who took care of us, she was absolutely amazing. I only live 5 mins away, so this will be my new spot. 😊

Showed up this morning with a group of 6 during a sudden gusty storm that drove all the diners that were eating outside back into the restaurant. We were greeted by very nice man that took our name and was very busy trying to accomodate all the customers that were gathering at the front door. We were seated as soon as possible and waited on by Elli who was fantastic. Food was excellent and chicken sandwich definitely lived up to its reputation. The restaurant was very clean, bright and had beautiful artwork on the walls. We will visit again for sure the next time we're in the area and most certainly recommend Shellys for great food and service.

First time at Shelly's cafe, and all I have to say is wow. Being from the DC metro area, I'm used to having tons of great options for brunch. This did not disappoint. Simple, classic and just done right. Great food and staff.

We decided to try Shelly's cafe for Saturday's Brunch. The Cafe was small and cozy cafe. It had a pleasant, soothing ambience. The staff was friendly and helped us to decide the order. We first started with drinks which included Orange Juice and Hot Coffee. For brunch we ordered Veggie Omelet, Tampa Omelet and Shelby's Pancakes. Hot Coffee: The coffee was good and hot. 5/5 Orange Juice: We thought It was a tropical orange juice not fresh orange juice. This was only our complain. Rest everything was fine. 3/5 Tampa Omelet: Tampa omelet was healthy and fulfilling. Omelet was provided with english muffin and Potato chips. We loved the omelet. 5/5. Veggie Omelet: Veggie omelet was also healthy and fulfilling. Both the omelets were amazing. It was served with potato chips and white bread. 5/5 Shelby's Pancake: We loved the pancakes it was amazing. 5/5 We loved this place. This was our first visit and definitely not the last.

Let me start by saying the food was AMAZING!! I had the banana nut carmel brioche french toast. The bread was fresh along with the bananas and nuts and as you see from the pics, there was no skimping on the toppings. The eggs and cheese were flawlessly cooked. But the game changer for me was the crispy bacon. I ate ALL the strips and there was no need to peel off the fat(which I typically do). Cameron, my host was awesome. He knew names of people coming in to pickup. The music is softly set, areas are cleaned and spacing is perfect!! This place is family friendly, delicious and most of all affordable!!!

Really great place! I wanted a non chain place for breakfast at a good price and this was a great choice. The staff was wonderful and very attentive. I ended up getting the French toast meal with turkey bacon, 2 eggs, and a side of home fries. The portion and presentation was very nice and we'll worth the price. I really enjoyed the sliced home fries over traditional diced, and all the food was very fresh and seasoned well. My only complaint was that the French toast bread itself was bland flavored.

Wonderful experience. Came on a whim and would gladly come back. Cameron was a great host and server, watching him bustle around was reminiscent of being in a city diner. Food was fresh and so delish. I couldn’t snap a picture but the food was plated beautifully. Highly recommend the beignets!!! Shelly’s DID NOT DISAPPOINT.

Went there over the weekend and it was amazing. The restaurant gave me cozy Florida vibes and the servers were so friendly. I ordered a French toast with a fruit salad and my friend ordered an omelet with potatoes. We also ordered beignets as our appetizer and they were so good I almost forgot to stop and take a picture of them. Everything was so good and both our plates were pretty much clean by the time we were done. Our order did take awhile but they let us know it was going to take awhile and the server did explain that they did have a small kitchen but our beignets came out pretty quickly to tide us over. I would definitely recommend this place and I’m sure I will end up being a regular.

Amazing restaurant! We absolutely love it here. We found our go to place for breakfast and lunch. This was our first time visit. We had the chicken and mini - pancakes. My husband ordered the blueberry pancake I ordered the banana. The chicken was freshly cooked to order and it came with a homemade special sauce, mayonnaise based, very balanced, very tasty. The coffee is excellent, bold flavor and not bitter. The entire staff is friendly, accommodating and engaging. Our server, Cameron, was totally AWESOME. We dine out a lot and have to admit Cameron was amazing. He was super attentive, super friendly and outgoing. Cameron is definitely a valuable asset to this restaurant. Kudos to him for being exceptional and having a great personality. If I could taste higher than five stars, I'd give it a 10! 💖 We'll be coming here often.

Fun breakfast/ lunch spot in North Tampa that definitely deserves your dollars! ...and it won't break the bank! The vibe is welcoming and relaxed but that doesn't mean slow service. My daughter & I were enjoying a leisurely brunch on a Monday morning during holiday break and never once felt rushed while other tables received quick service and were in and out. The kids mini chocolate chip pancakes looked great and got an enthusiastic thumbs up while my omelet was made with fresh ingredients exactly as ordered and served hot. Fair warning, their strawberry milk is made with fresh fruit puree so it may not be right for your kiddo; mine ended up not being a fan because of the texture, but I loved it. The must have been a whole, if not darn close to, pint of strawberries in there! I almost want to take away a star for the coffee, as it was burnt/old, but I just can't given the time of day we were there (between breakfast & lunch rush), the flavored coffee creamers, and the overall great experience. Neither my water or coffee was ever empty, food temperature was perfect, modified order was correct first time, friendly service, and locally owned; it was almost perfect.

We have been going to Shelly's for years now and they never fail to impress us. Anything you get from breakfast (my favorite is the buttermilk pancake combo with sausage, and eggs with cheese but don't forget to try the pancakes or french toast Shelly's way to get lots of yummy fruit on top) to lunch (Shelly's burger is INCREDIBLE) is worth the money. The waitstaff remember us and are always making sure we have everything we need. You may be waiting for a table on the weekends because they get busy but it's so worth the wait. We love Shelly's and can't wait to go back soon!

Very Relaxing with plenty of parking. Quick Service & good food. Large pork chops. The home fries are good but appear deceiving. Home fries are dark & have an appearance of being over-cooked but they are soft & easy to chew. The cafe is Very Clean & the servers are very attentive. The food was amazing and the fresh fruit was an awesome addition to share with my little one. My complaint is with the service. I sat for 18 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me and asked for my drink order by that time I knew what I wanted and completed my whole order. They were busy but it made it difficult having a hungry 1 year old in tow. I will say that they went above and beyond when I left my sons personal silverware on a plate that was taken from our table. They went through the dishes to bring me his fork. I was impressed especially since we were on vacation and I really needed it! Thank you so much. I will return. Family friendly. Small dining area so their can be a wait for groups with more than 4 people.

Shelly’s is a fun funky place with fantastic food. Do yourself a favor and get the beignets as an appetizer or dessert to share as you would do yourself a disservice only getting one item. Also their home fries aren’t your normal home fries each one is nice and crispy with herbs.

Delicious food. I had the sausage and cheese omelette with sliced and seasoned potatoes and English muffin. It was delicious. My husband had the Shelter French toast and was big with the French roasts and blueberries and strawberries with powered sugar on top. Yummy. My daughter had the grilled cheese sandwich with fruit. The hot chocolate and strawberry milk were good also.

Update Winter 2021: Had lunch here. I had a BLT and fries. It was good, bacon was a bit dry though. Friendly and efficient service. I was surprised by how much I liked this place. The nondescript strip mall exterior belies the fun, modern inside with vibrant art prints to the ceiling. Excellent service despite being almost full up and under staffed. I felt welcomed, like they were glad to see me - exactly what I look for in a mom and pop place like this. Food was excellent. My omelet was done as I requested (soft, no brown on eggs). I will definitely return.

This was our second time, and we LOVE it! The food is good, flavorful, and not greasy. They have turkey sausage, turkey bacon, and sugar-free syrup, so they meet all of our dietary needs. You can ask if they have grits available; it's not on the menu because it's a limited amount of creamy yellow grits each day. The service is also GREAT! They turn tables quickly without making you feel like you're taking up space. All the servers work well as a team, and ours remembered us and our dietary restrictions from a few weekends ago. It's a family business. All plates come back empty. Note that it's a pretty small restaurant but seems to deal with 6-8 tops pretty well. Still great food and service!

Our server was super adorable and the food was delicious. Went with some friends that live in the Lutz area and was so happy to come across this tucked in gem. Server suggested the cheesy grits, and cheesy they were. My friends had the Florida french toast and were pleased with the fresh fruit they received. Beignets & Home fries were also excellent. Wish I lived closer to a breakfast staple such as this.

Had breakfast with 2 other people this morning. First time I have been there. It's a nice small restaurant with about 12 -15 tables. And a few outside tables as well. The staff was very attentive and well mannered. It was very clean and well kept also. The food was delicious and tasty and the buttermilk pancakes were the perfect size to go along with the eggs,sausage and home fries. And the house blend coffee was delicious. Everything was delicious! The bacon, however was a little crispy for my taste. I mentioned this to management and not only did they comp my son’s bacon, but made me a batch more to my taste. Was told they always make the bacon crispy, so heads up to all you limp lovers, just request it and they’ll make you some peerrffeecctt bacon!

I really enjoyed the food and service here. We decided to try this place after another place was packed. I had the shrimp omelet with everything except mushrooms and it was yummy. Seasoning was great I didn't even have to pick up the salt. I liked how the home fries were sliced and cooked. I believe the owners were this friendly older Asian couple and the guy made a point of trying to greet everyone who came in . Absolutely adorable!!

This place has the most amazing breakfast selection. I highly recommend the blt with extra bacon. There is nothing like it anywhere. I should have taken a picture but my camera could not take a shot of something so huge. There had to be a full pound of bacon on it.

Food was good, but not quite worth the wait. We were told 20 minutes, which actually took more like 45 minutes. We had to stand outside and wait in the heat, because they don't have buzzers to alert you when your table is ready. We watched over and over, as they called for smaller parties that had arrived after us. We eventually ended up sitting at separate tables instead of waiting for them to figure out how to strategically push 2 tables together. The capacity of the place is just too small, so I'd definitely order takeout if I had to do it all over again.

Place looks very nice for small Cafe. Though I ordered a side of fries to go and got a nice plate full of them, but only two very small packets of ketchup. I suggest you bring your own condiments because if not you'll be licking your mouth like me from the salty fries without and sweet to go with the salt(ketchup).

My sister and I were so excited to visit this new brunch restaurant. We selected seating outside because it was a nice day to do so. The waitress was nice and inquired if it was my sister’s and I first time there. She brought our drinks and we didn’t see her much after that. So we waited, and waited, and waited. It was about 45-50 minutes before we received our food. I didn’t appreciate that we were not told or acknowledged that our food would take longer. I dunno maybe that’s the norm there. But it should not be. It was almost like we were forgotten by the staff. After a long wait our excitement to eat had depleted. I’m unsure why the waitress asked the question about us being old or new guests ? She didn’t pull out the red carpet regarding customer service or anything and her service was mediocre. My french toast, eggs, and bacon were good. My sister enjoyed her shrimp omelette but didn’t like that her toast was burned and they scrapped off the burned parts instead of getting her another piece of bread. I’m unsure if I will go back

The staff is so friendly and attentive and they always remember me when I come in with my friend. They even remember what we like extra of and that's pretty impressive in this day and age where customer service is usually mediocre. There's a lot of cool artwork on the wall and this is a nice, humble little restaurant. They have worked very hard to make sure that social distancing is in place, keep everything very clean and orderly and the staff all wear masks. This is my favorite breakfast spot. Wow, my wife and I were not only surprised, we were thankful for this restaurant. Frankly the food and the cleanliness of most restaurants in the region are severely lacking but Shelly's is a standout shining star. The service is great, the food is phenomenal and it's absolutely clean! I highly recommend the home fries, actually you should skip the toast and double order the fries. For anyone who says this is overpriced, I'm sorry it's not a McDonald's mcmuffin. For anyone who feels the wait is too long, it's unfortunate that perfection takes time.

Today was my 4th time here and I really wanted to leave this well deserved review. I prefer to keep it as the best secret brunch spot, but that would be unfair to them. Breakfast and brunch is absolutely delicious with home cook feel. The chicken and blueberry pancakes are my fav. My server even remembered me and my fav orders. The strawberry lemonade and the coffee are satisfying. The ambiance is always nice and inviting from the door to the time you leave. There is a sign that says their chicken sandwich is better than Popeyes and I must agree. This is my go to spot for food and fun

My fiance, our son, and I went there today for the first time and were not disappointed. We were looking for a mom and pop style breakfast place and this was perfect. The staff is SUPER friendly and the home fries were so good I wanted to get an order to take home. I even loved my omelet and I'm not really a breakfast eater. It was so good though!! It was also super clean and even my fiance enjoyed the one on one we got from the staff. Overall it seems like an awesome place. We will be back since my son loved his pancakes and whipped cream lol.

This is a nice, clean diner/cafe with inexpensive prices. Our food was delicious -- my grilled gouda was fabulous. We arrived when the place was completely filled and food was slow coming out of the kitchen. Apparently one of the people on the back didn't show up for work and the other 4 worked to make up for it. After people cleared out service was a bit faster.

Great little cafe to have breakfast or brunch at. The people there are super nice and friendly and the food is good. It's a small eatery, so the menu isn't huge, but what they have to offer is great. Depending on the time of day, there can be a bit of a wait, but it's really not that bad. So check them out if you're looking for a nice cozy cafe to have breakfast/brunch at and not at one of the chain restaurants. Enjoy.

Small place, the staff was very friendly. they have a pretty nice looking breakfast menu, but fairly limited menu for lunch. Sadly, we were there for lunch. They basically have three sandwiches and we tried their chicken sandwich which was pretty impressive really. Two huge chicken fingers with lettuce tomato and a nice remoulade and some really nice hot crispy fries with it. I'll be excited to go back and try breakfast there.

Went for lunch on a whim, and ended up having a delicious buffalo chicken sandwich. Owner noted that their buffalo sauce is homemade, and was taste tested over ten times to get it right. And it shows! The service was great, it felt very cozy in there. I would love to go again!

Our waitress was more interested in telling stories with other customers and even took another table's order before ours....a couple that came in well after us. We waited & waited for a coffee refill, which we had to request when she was at a neighboring table. After that request, we still had to ask another waiter for the refill because she never came back around. The food is GREAT. Our service today, not so much. Truly disappointed.

Wow, every detail was just right. Tucked into a strip mall that i may not want to visit at night, this light bright breakfast spot gave us a perfect breakfast. Freaking ridiculous how amazing their chicken and pancakes are. I originally thought it would be a cheap knock off of chicken and waffles but let me tell ya.. this place is my new go to for chicken and pancakes!!! The service was pretty great too. The only problem was their hot chocolate sucked. Just don't get that and you'll be fine!! If you're looking to get breakfast or brunch or lunch right now don't look anymore. Go here!!! This little breakfast & lunch cafe was out of this world good! Hubby & I shared a shrimp omelette & Shelly's French toast. We both oowed & aawed with each & every bite about how good it was. Our waiter Cameron couldn't have been any more attentive or friendlier & the cafe was EXCEPTIONALLY clean as well. I also noticed there were quite a few regulars present at surrounding tables. The homefries here are an absolute hit. Perfectly cut, fried, and seasoned. I could eat mounds of them. Everything on the menu is spectacular and feels like you're eating real home cooking. Omlettes to pancake stacks, french toast, or even lunch items. I'd be surprised if those of you reading this would be disappointed. In fact, I'm going to order breakfast takeout early in the morning from Shellys as soon as I wake up.

Would recommend that. Only thing is sometimes food comes one at time or when its ready.
